Notes:

If anyone knows how to do the thing where they have the text and then a subscript right bellow it on here please tell me. I would like to use it to put the translation for the shouts as subscript beneath them instead of just beside them.

Work Text:

FINALLY! Alduin let out a shout of elation as she broke into the skies of Nirn once more. Finally she was free! As she flapped her wings and soared through the skies she suddenly felt a tug in her chest. She put her hand to her breast, confused.  What was that? Was that what had been described to her by Paarthurnax? The call of a soulmate. She had to know. She followed the feeling, flying towards a small mountain where she landed, she could see a village on the other side. There seemed to be some kind of gathering amongst the humans bellow. She could see a bunch of humans and one… well she wasn’t sure exactly what the last one was. It had the soul of a Child of Akatosh and something else, the body of a mortal but not, a being touched by so many gods she could barely believe it. She could feel the power rolling off of it from here. She watched, curious as they cut one of the humans head off. How odd, she remembered stuff like that happening before, back when people worshiped her before her banishment. She didn’t honestly pay much attention to them though, they seemed beneath her before. Beneath her and her purpose.

She knew they hated her for her seeming cruelty, but it was her duty. She was the end of all things. It was her duty to bring an end to this cycle of the world to allow the next to begin. She was the aspect of Akatosh, a fragment of the great god who was to bring the world to an end and allow her other part to bring a new beginning. She remembered turning away from that path, afraid of what lay beyond. Afraid that she would die with the world. Unlike the mortals she watched, she did not know what would happen with her soul when she died. She couldn’t see beyond the worlds end. She let out a cry of irritation as her old anxiety and fear swelled within her, focusing back on the gathering just in time to see the Child moving forward. They were pushed down onto the strange block where the other had had its head removed.

Alduins pupils narrowed into slits as rage flooded through her veins. They dare try to kill this Child of Akatosh?! They DARE try and kill her sibling!? THEY DARE!? She launched herself into the air with a roar of pure rage! Slamming down on top of the tower overlooking the gathering, the ground shaking under the impact as the stone shattered under her heels. The mortal with the weapon had stumbled as she landed, lashing out with her voice "Jiid So Daan!" [Moon Sorrow Doom]

A group of the mortals rushed around the one touched by the gods, drawing their weapons as the one who tried to kill the Child stood up. She would not allow that, "Al Kren Mah!" [Destroy Shatter Fall]

The mortal was blasted to pieces, shattered under the might of her voice. The Child was stumbling to their feet, running away. A spike of anxiety shot through her as the Child ran out of her sight. She was still in danger, why had she ran? The strange weapons the mortals used bounced off of her flesh and armor as she took to the skies. She flew over to the tower the Child had ran into, she could see the top partially collapsed from a meteor and simply made her own entrance, smashing into the side of the tower to make an exit for the Child. She saw a mortal in armor, half buried under the stones as she entered, "Toor Shul!" [Inferno Sun]

The mortal burned to ash under the fury of her voice, then she shot out of the hole and into the sky again. There were far to many armed mortals still around, as the fire began to spread through the wooden structures beneath her. She saw the Child jump from the tower to the structure beneath. There was an armed mortal on the ground outside. She slammed into the ground with an almighty crash locking eyes with the mortal with the weapon as she drew in a breath, "Toor Shul!" [Inferno Sun]

The wave of flame burst from her mouth. When the wall of fire cleared and she saw nothing she burst into the skies again. The mortals were gathering near one end of the town, the ones with weapons moving the ones without forward. She saw the Child moving in that direction from above, one of the armed ones seeming to protect it. She slammed down again, on a wall of stone, already shouting at the mortal that stood in their path, "Yol Toor Shul!" [Fire Inferno Sun]

The Child was running again, moving through the mass of armed ones. Spiking Alduins fear and anxiety to knew heights. She simply ignored the magic and weapons they fired at her, accelerating her attack as she tried to clear the path for the Child to escape. She dashed the mortals to pieces with her voice and blows, burned them until not even ash remained. She saw the Child duck into the large stone building, and crashed into the courtyard as the rest of the mortals tried to follow. She would not let them.

What felt like hours later to the Queen of Dragons, but was more like minutes, the mortals ceased to try and enter the structure after the Child. They had fled from the settlement. All was quiet, and she could sense no living being nearby of greater note than a bird or wolf. She also could somehow sense the Child was no longer close by. Taking to the skies she flew, following the pull that had lead her to them in the first place. She saw them bellow her, ducked behind some stones alongside the armed mortal from before as she flew overhead. They were safe for now.

She needed to think. TO ponder this strange feeling in her chest. Maybe see her sister Paarthurnax, she could feel her nearby. It was faint, her sister had allowed herself to diminish in the vast gulf of time between their last encounter. They had last met as enemies, but if this was the feeling that led to her sisters betrayal… could she still blame her. It felt like she would shatter the world to see this Child safe. This… she needed to think… Should she summon her armies? Call her fallen sisters back to service? She had dominated the world once in defiance of her duty, her destiny. She could do the same again… But would the Child want that? Would the Child understand? The mortals before hadnt… They had fought against her, torn the kingdom she had built asunder, and cast her adrift in the streams of time. She winged her way towards the Monahven, intent on seeing her sister once more. This would either go well, or poorly. Alduin had no idea which...
