Chapter Text

Hey everyone thank you for giving this one-shot book a chance! I want to clarify some things before we get started. I know some people might not like what I have to say and that's fine.

First things first, I will not be writing any M/M or F/F unless it's strictly platonic. Before you click off let me give my reasoning 😭 I don't feel like I'm fit to make any lgbtq+ one-shots because I don't want to miss represent the community. I know you guys love your lava and other Fannon M/M ships and I'm sorry for this!! However, if I get a bunch of requests for on lgbtq+ ship with x reader I might attempt but it might not be good. Also just to clarify I do not support Greenflame I feel like most people forget Lloyd is still mentally a child and I see them having more of a sibling bond.

This one-shot book will have romance in it but I want to kind of focus more on the family relationship all the ninjas have. I also want to focus on all the angst and stuff that's been looked over during the series and try and go into more depth about it.

I think that's all I have to say other than I will try and post once or twice a week maybe more or less depending on my schedule. Thank you again for choosing to read and I hope you enjoy!

If you’re requesting a story with the reader included let me know what type of relationship you want to have with the ninja. Remember it doesn't always have to be romantic it can be a sibling relationship or just a fic with the reader and the ninjas doing stupid stuff I don't mind.

If you have a certain plot you want, please try and be a little detailed in your request. Details can also include the gender, pronouns and any other specific thing you’d like added. Also please try to remember what I said in the previous chapter about lgbtq+ ships. I don't want to offend anyone by writing something inaccurate. This does not mean I won't write lgbtq+ characters!!!!!

Chapter Text

It had been a pretty rough day for the water Ninja. She was having cramps and wasn’t feeling the best. Nya groaned softly as she placed a hand on her lower stomach, adjusting herself so she was sitting on the edge of her bed. She sat there for a moment before everything clicked. “Did I start my period?” She grumbled to herself as she quickly stood up to check her bed for any stains. Nya couldn't help but groan once more as she took the dirtied bed sheets off and rolled them up, deciding she would wash them after she got herself clean.

Honestly, she had completely forgotten her period was supposed to start again that week. A lot of stuff had been going on and her girl problems weren't really at the top of her list of worries. The ninja walked over to her dressing table and took out a new pair of underwear and some clothes. She didn't feel like wearing her gi for the rest of the day so she made sure to grab something comfy.

Nya had always found pads easier to use than tampons so when she couldn't find any it just happened to make her even more frustrated. Everything was not going according to plan and she had so much stuff she still needed to do. The master of water felt gross standing there with her blood-stained clothes and it's not like she could just go out and buy pads herself while she was literally in the middle of bleeding out.

The girl stood there perplexed, biting her lip just slightly. “I can just ask the guys to bring me some right? It's not that big of a deal I mean they’re already out anyways.” Nya said, trying to weigh the pros and cons of asking the others. It's not like grabbing some pads is something they’d struggle to do.

Nya hesitantly brought her hand up to her ear and pressed the button on her communicator. “Hey guys, are you busy?” She asked softly as she anxiously waited for a reply. A few seconds later a familiar voice responded. “Nope, we were just about to head back to the monastery. Why did you need something?” Lloyd answered, the soft wind of his surroundings blowing into the mic as he did. Nya waited a little before pressing her comm again and replying. “Ya actually, could you guys pick me up some pads I ran out.” She winced softly at the fact no one had answered her right away but relaxed herself after hearing her older brother's voice. “No problem sis! We’ll be back soon, just take a hot shower and relax,” Kai said comfortingly. Nya let out a breath of relief and started to make her way to the bathroom.

“Alright, guys! We have a code red!” Kai said determinedly as he looked at the rest of the ninja. Being Nya’s older brother and practically raising her was a plus when it came to situations like these. The master of fire knew exactly what Nya needed, and was determined to make her feel loved. “Jay, Cole you two are on sweets. Buy a bunch of chocolates and candies, just whatever you think Nya likes.” Kai snapped his fingers as he pointed at the two. “Got it!” They said in unison as they went off to the nearest candy store. Kai quickly turned to Zane and Lloyd. “Zane you’re probably the best chef out of all of us so I need you to go back to the monastery and make some soup and maybe some tea. Lloyd, you're with me, we’re on pad duty.”

Zane nodded his head and went off toward the monastery of spinjitsu as Lloyd turned to look at Kai. “Why couldn't I be on candy duty?” Lloyd mumbled causing Kai to laugh softly. “You and I both know you’d eat all of it before it even got to Nya,” He said as he ruffled the green ninja's hair. Lloyd pushed Kai’s hand away playfully, not being able to hold back his smile. “Ya ya but do you really trust Jay and Cole,” Lloyd said dramatically pointing towards the direction they ran off in. “Jay is Nya’s boyfriend so I'm assuming he’d know what she likes, and Cole is Cole he knows all the good stuff.” The red ninja said as he shrugged his shoulders and began walking to the nearest store with Lloyd right by his side.

It’s not a surprise that Lloyd and Kai made it back to the monastery before the others. The master of fire was used to buying Nya stuff and knew exactly which brands she liked the most. He could remember the first time his little sister got her period. Both of them had absolutely no idea what was going on. At some point, Kai thought Nya was going to bleed out to death and ended up taking her to town to look for some help. The little boy walked up to the nearest stranger and asked them to help out. Luckily it was a nice middle-aged woman who was more than happy to teach the two kids what a period was and how to handle it. She bought some pads and a new pair of pants for Nya and went on her way. After that day Kai always made sure his sister had all the stuff she needed when on her period. Their budget was a bit tight but he managed to figure things out.

Kai walked up to the bathroom after hearing the shower turn off. He knocked on the door and called out for his sister. “Nya we got your pads,” He said in a soft voice. Nya slightly opened the door and grabbed the pads from Kai. “Thanks, I’ll be out soon.” She said as she shut the door. It was a big relief for Nya, she felt way cleaner now and the pads Kai and Lloyd bought were the ones she found most comfortable.

A few minutes later Cole and Jay barged into the living room of the monastery. Cole had a pretty big goody basket in his hands with a bunch of different chocolates and candies. “Why-“ Kai cut himself off and just looked at the two perplexed. Lloyd on the other hand was staring the candy down, it was obvious that he was trying to keep his hands to himself. “We panicked! Everything just seemed so good so we bought it all!” Jay said with slight panic present in his voice. Cole placed the stuff down and put his hands on his hips. “Correction, you panicked.” The earth ninja said before continuing in a teasing voice, “Jay wanted everything to be perfect.” He nudged the lightning ninja playfully, earning a smack on the arm from him in return.

Just as Cole finished teasing Jay, the nindroid of the group walked in, with P.I.X.A.L. by his side. The two were holding bowls of soup and placed them down on the living room table. “I made sure to pick my best recipe for Nya,” Zane said proudly looking down at his work as P.I.X.A.L. went back to the kitchen to grab the remaining soup and the tea. “On that note where is she?” P.I.X.A.L. asked curiously. She was filled in on the plan by Zane and decided she would help him cook since she had nothing better to do.

“I'm pretty sure she's just changing her clothes. I can go and get her!” Lloyd said with a warm smile as the others nodded. He quickly walked over to Nya’s bedroom and knocked on her door hesitantly. Some stumbling could be heard on the other side before the door was pulled open. Nya was wearing an oversized shirt probably stolen from her brother’s closet, and some sweatpants. “What's up greenie?” Nya asked flashing him her signature smile. “Everyone’s in the living room waiting for you,” Lloyd said as he took her hand giving her no further explanation as he started to make his way to the others. He still had a smile on his face unable to hide his excitement.

Nya followed him reluctantly. Why was everyone waiting for her? What was going on? Did something happen? All the questions roaming around her head suddenly faded as she saw everyone huddled up, chatting with smiles on their faces. One of the first things she noticed was the basket of treats causing a confused look to form on her face. “What's all this about?” Nya asked as she took a seat in between Jay and Kai. Zane was quick to hand her a bowl of soup which she gratefully took, sending a smile in his direction. “Well I know how bad it can get when you’re on your period so we wanted to do something for you,” Kai said as he slung an arm around his younger sister's shoulder.

She couldn't help but let a smile form on her face. They didn’t need to do this for her. All she asked for was pads and she got a hot meal, a bunch of candy and support from the people she loves dearly. Nya laughed softly as she hugged Kai and looked at the others gratefully. “Thank you guys, you don’t understand how much I needed this.” The water ninja said, feeling nothing but warmth. She was so lucky to have such amazing people as friends and she wouldn't trade them for the world.

“That goody basket is a little overboard though,” Nya said teasingly as she gestured toward its direction. “Come on I panicked!” Jay said defensively, causing everyone to laugh. Nya kissed his cheek and smiled, “It's alright, that just means we have enough for everybody.” Just as Nya finished her sentence, Lloyd jumped up from his seat. “I call all the pillow mint!” He yelled as he grabbed the basket and started to dig through it to pick out his favourite candies. “Poor kid was trying so hard not to eat all the candy before you came in,” Kai whispered to his sister, laughing softly as he watched the green ninja pop some candy into his mouth.

The rest of the day was spent eating soup and a whole lot of candy. Everyone decided that they should have a movie night and let Nya pick. She had her head on Kai’s shoulder, the warm feeling from before still present. “Thank you,” Nya murmured as she kept her eyes on the TV.

Hey guys sorry for not updating in a while. Schools been annoying and I’ve been pretty busy but don’t think I forgot about this one shot book! I’ll get to your requests as soon as I can. Spring break is coming up so I’m probably gonna write a lot during it. Keep on sending requests and stay safe everyone!

Edit: Ya'll please I've been so unmotivated 😭 I swear I'll start writing again soon! School is over and I only have a few exams to do next week so I'll try to make a decent schedule so I can post regularly! If I haven't gotten to your request yet don't worry! Also requests aren't first come first serve, it's more so, which I'm more motivated to write first.

Pirates... Out of everything it just had to be a movie about pirates that caused him to break down. He didn’t know why, but he kept replacing the characters with the people and the djinn he hated the most. His mind kept flashing back to the ship and the stupid metal monkey that never seemed to get enough out of beating him daily. It all felt like some game, some cycle that would never stop and was only there to torment him.

Jay hadn't realized that he was clutching the fabric of his clothes so tightly that his knuckles began to turn white. He felt his heart rate quicken and his breathing becoming uncontrollable. All of a sudden everyone just disappeared, it was just him Nadakhan and that damned Misfortunes Keep. He couldn’t move, he couldn't speak, and he couldn’t get the feeling of oncoming death to leave him alone. That didn’t stop the djinn from coming closer and closer and closer until he could feel hands on his shoulders. “Just kill me already!” was all Jay could manage to say. He was tired of being tormented. Those four words broke the hearts of those watching him and made the non-existent djinn smirk.

A movie, a simple movie about pirates. No one knew it would trigger the poor boy and no one really expected it. It had been a few years after the events of the Misfortunes Keep was erased from almost everyone's minds. A few years after the water and lightning ninja hid what had happened. It’s not like remembering didn’t affect them in any way. Both of the ninjas had woken up because of countless nightmares and had to console each other through panic attacks. They helped each other through everything and they were finally feeling better. They felt confident enough to finally admit to themselves and the other ninjas what truly happened in the erased time frame. Unfortunately, it had brought up more unwanted memories than Jay could handle.

It had been a month or so after Nya and Jay told the others about the events of Skybound. They were all huddled up in the living room, deciding that a movie night would be a great way to spend their otherwise slow day. Someone had picked a random movie that had something to do with pirates. Jay wasn’t bothered until a scene that was way too similar to his own experiences happened to play. One by one the pirates began to beat the main character. Each hit made the boy scream out for mercy. Each hit caused Jay to feel phantom pains arise from all over his body.

The first to notice was Cole. He was the closest to Jay in the prearranged seating plan the ninjas had made. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong and his suspicions were only proven right when he saw Jay's shaken figure. The boy quickly went into action, trying to calm the lighting ninja down, grasping the attention of the others while doing so. The movie was quickly turned off and now everyone was huddled around Jay. Kai put his hands on the panicked boy's shoulders and what he heard next caused everyone to freeze.

“Just kill me already!” Jay begged. The sorrow and pure fear managed to break through with every single word.

Everything just happened so quickly. The ninja didn’t mean to trigger Jay, and Kai didn’t mean to scare the boy further, but it still hurt. It hurt them to know that the lightning ninja felt so vulnerable and so useless to the point he begged the djinn for death. It hurt to know that none of them other than Nya remembered, making it that much harder to comfort him. They would never know how he felt on the Misfortunes Keep and all they could do was pray that they could find a way to comfort him.

Nya immediately pulled Kai back taking his place in front of Jay. She slowly placed her hands in his, squeezing them gently. “Jay look at me.” Nya started as she tried to gain the boy's attention. “Honey he’s not here. He’s gone ok? Now breathe.” She watched as Jay shifted his gaze towards her, ignoring the worried looks from the others. The tears falling from his eyes didn’t stop but they seemed to slow down. Nya took a deep breath and let it out again and again as she watched Jay hesitantly copy her actions.

They sat like that for a few minutes, waiting until Jay was able to calm himself down. Nya let one of Jay’s hands go to wipe the tears on his face, letting her hand linger on his cheek for a moment before having it retreat to her lap. Jay sniffled slightly and turned his head over to look at the other worried ninja. He couldn’t help but feel embarrassed. He just cried over a stupid movie in front of everybody, what would they think of him now?

“Sorry, that was stupid. I swear I'm not as weak as I seem.” The lightning ninja said as he laughed softly, there was no humour in his tone. All he could think about was that Nadakhan was right… he does use humour to hide his fear. “That wasn’t stupid you idiot,” Kai grumbled under his breath as he unintentionally clenched his fists. A few looks were shot in his direction because of his word choice but he chose to ignore them. “You went through so much just for us not to remember it. You’re allowed to freak out at times Jay! It doesn’t make you weak and it’s not stupid.”

Jay felt a small flutter in his chest. He really needed to hear those words. They might not be enough to stop his panic attacks completely but it felt good knowing his friends had his back. Even if it was just Kai insulting him for thinking so lowly of himself. “I think what Kai is trying to say is that trauma is a hard concept. It doesn’t go away all of a sudden and it's more than ok to feel these emotions. We’re a family and we will always be here for you.” Cole said in more kind terms as he placed a hand on Jay’s shoulder after receiving an ok for physical contact.

Fsm he didn’t deserve these people in his life. People who are willing to risk anything and everything for someone like him. A kid raised in a junkyard, who makes stupid jokes and who is more than likely seen as annoying. To them, he was more than that. He was a boyfriend, best friend and most importantly he was himself. “I don’t know what I would do without you guys,” Jay said genuinely as tears started to form in his eyes. This time they weren’t tears of panic. Instead, they were tears of acceptance, joy, and relief.

They spent a good hour or two letting Jay just rant about his feelings, occasionally comforting him or giving him advice. The boy would stop talking just to check if the others were getting annoyed or tired but every time he checked he had everyone's full attention. No one looked at him like he was crazy or going on a rant about something they didn't care about. Instead, they looked at him with understanding, occasional sorrow and love.

He was loved and his friends wouldn’t leave him alone until he believed it.
