Dairy Queen

Summary:

Alex got into so much trouble when the Crown learned about his TikTok channel.

Chapter Text

Alex got into so much trouble when the Crown learned about his TikTok channel. He never posted anything without Henry’s approval, even if he had recorded some without Henry’s knowledge.

The video starts with the camera pointing at Alex. He’s holding his phone low, near the steering wheel of his car.

“Are you saying,” Henry’s voice comes from off-screen. He sounds like he’s eating something. “That you bought me jaffa cakes so that I wouldn’t get mad at you for bringing another dog home?”

“Yeah. Did it work?”

“Darling, you know that I love dogs, why would I be angry?”

“Okay.” Alex smirks. “What would I need to get you to get lucky tonight?”

Henry is quiet for a moment. Alex’s smile grows wider as he watches Henry think. Then, after about half a minute, Henry says, “Dairy Queen.”

The video cuts to Alex and Henry still in the car, both of them holding up Dairy Queen cups. Henry looks over to Alex after a moment.

“This is a video, isn’t it?”

The video is overlaid with a second from Doja Cat’s Kiss Me More. It starts with Alex walking up the stairs, then cuts to Henry in the kitchen, standing with his back to the camera at the sink. A sentence pops up that reads “Me every time I see my boyfriend” and when the music dings, Alex firmly pats Henry’s bum. Henry startles and turns to Alex with a smile, saying something that cannot be heard over the music.

The video starts, as most of Alex’s tiktoks do, at a high angle pointing down at his face. Lyrics from “Everybody Talks” by Neon Trees start the video, with Alex mouthing along. As he sings, the camera pans over to include Henry. Alex then lips syncs with the words, “There he is! There’s my favourite white boy!” He gently grabs Henry’s chin and Henry grins, leaning down a little to kiss Alex on the cheek.

Henry is alone on the screen for a moment, sitting on the sofa with his legs outstretched in front of him, book in hand. The lyrics “Does it ever drive you crazy?” play in a muted fashion as Alex comes into the shot, laying himself down on Henry’s legs and sliding his head under Henry’s book. As Henry moves his book away, he smiles gently and slides a hand into Alex’s curls. The lyrics finish, “Just how fast the night changes” as Henry continues to stroke Alex’s head. Alex is resting on Henry’s chest, eyes closed, arms wrapped around Henry’s waist.

The lyrics “Slippin’ through my fingers all the time, I try to capture every minute, the feeling in it,” play over a video of Alex lying in bed, looking sad. The sentence “Thinking about him when he’s thousands of miles away” pops up above his head.

The video then flips through several clips of Alex and Henry together, looking happy and goofing around, the lyrics “Slipping through my fingers” repeating. There are clips of them at home, in their car, on vacation.

It returns to Alex alone in his bed, curled around his pillow and smiling sadly at the camera. A single tear falls from his eye, and he shrugs. The sentence “Royal duties are a bitch” appears above his head.

Alex is singing along to the lyrics “If you’re feeling like you need a little bit of company, you met me at the perfect time,” whilst lying in bed, comforter pulled up so his chest isn’t entirely visible, but visible enough to show that he isn’t wearing a shirt.

The camera shifts up, and Henry’s head pops up, mouthing along to the next lyric, “You want me.”

Back to Alex’s face, Henry slipping back behind Alex’s head. “I want you, baby.”

Henry pops up again. “My sugar boo.”

Alex laughs, nearly missing his line. “I’m levitating.”

The video pans back to Henry, who is also laughing. “The Milky Way.”

Back to Alex for one final time as he sings, “We’re renegating.”

Alex has a lolly pop in his mouth and he’s staring at the camera. There’s traffic in the background, he looks to be outside somewhere in New York City. It’s raining. He pans over to Henry, who is frowning down at his phone and not noticing the camera. Alex takes the lolly pop out of his mouth.

“Babe,” he says, holding the sweet out.

Henry looks up briefly, letting Alex put the candy in his mouth, and goes back to frowning at his phone. Alex grins, laughing to himself.

They’re in a store, music playing softly in the background, the indecipherable babble of chatter around them. Henry smiles and holds up a cologne bottle that says “Love Wins” on the front. Alex holds out a sample paper and Henry spritzes the cologne onto it. Alex brings it up to Henry’s nose.

“How is it?”

Henry grins. “Smells fruity.”

The video starts with two boys. One of them holds up his shirt and sniffs it, then turns to the other one and asks, “Does my shirt smell weird?”

When the other boy leans in to sniff, the first one kisses his forehead, which causes the second boy to back up, confused.

The video stitches to Alex walking through his house. He’s holding the phone low so that Henry doesn’t notice it at first. Alex holds up the front of his shirt and pretends to sniff it.

“Babe, does my shirt smell funny?”

Henry leans over to smell his shirt and Alex gently kisses his forehead.

Henry pulls back, a surprised smile spreading across his face. “That was cute.”

Alex has the camera pointing at him again, the caption “Me when my boyfriend lays on his stomach” above his head. Henry is lying next to him on his front, reading a book. Over the video, the lyrics “Now look at me and this opportunity, it’s standing right in front of me” play. Alex pretends like he’s going to bite Henry’s bum, then looks up at the camera again, grinning widely. Again, he goes to bite Henry’s bum and then pulls his head up, laughing.

The video starts pointing at Alex’s face.

“There is nothing gayer,” he says, smiling, “on this fourth of July,” he flips the camera around so that Henry can be seen, fiddling with knobs on a barbeque, “than my boyfriend trying to figure out how to use a grill.”

Henry turns slightly to glare halfheartedly at Alex.

“You can do it, baby!”

Henry is eating something when he notices the camera pointed at his face.

“Oh my God,” Alex says. “It’s the love of my life!”

Henry grins, but then looks confused as Alex puts a hand on his face and pushes him off screen. There’s a statue behind him and Alex zooms in on the statue's face.

“George Washington!”

The video starts facing both Alex and Henry. They’re sitting in the front of a car and Henry is already buckled in and looking over a piece of paper, a slight frown on his face. The line, “Checking to see what my bf does when I stick my [peach emoji] in his face” pops up at the top of the screen, read off in a computerized preppy voice.

“Wait,” Alex says, looking down at his lap and checking his pockets. “Babe, do you know where my wallet is?”

“Uh, no,” Henry says. “Sorry.”

“Did I leave it in the back when I put David in?”

Alex shifts to kneel on his seat, facing the back. He pushes himself up slightly and reaches into the back, petting David and “looking” for his wallet. His hip hits Henry’s shoulder, who looks up and blinks, bewildered. He stares at Alex’s bum for a moment, blushes, and then looks back down at his printout.

“It’s not back here,” Alex mumbles. “Did you grab it?”

“Uh…” Henry is staring quite fiercely at his paper. “No, I didn’t grab it.”

Alex puts his hand on the centre console between their seats, but his hand slips and he tips forward, causing David to jump up into view for a moment. With his bum in the air, Alex lets out a startled yelp, causing Henry to look back at him again, eyes focusing on Alex’s backside when he turns back around.

“You alright, love?” Henry says, his face now very red.

“Yep,” Alex says, voice muffled. “Still can’t find it.”

Henry pulls his attention away from Alex’s bum, looking at the front of the car and frowning. “You put it next to your phone.” His eyes flick up and finally realises that the camera is rolling. “Which is filming. What are you doing?”

The video starts pointed at the front door of their brownstone. The caption “Messing with my boyfriend for shits and giggles” is posted over the door. The door opens and Alex comes in, looking up and smiling at Henry behind the camera and the caption disappears. His smile falters when Henry, presumably, doesn’t smile back.

“Everything okay, babe?” Alex asks.

“Oh, so we’re talking now?” Henry asks.

Alex’s eyes widen slightly, his head tilting left as he looks at Henry, confused. “Were we not talking?” When Henry doesn’t answer, Alex frowns. “Did I do something wrong?”

“You know what you did, Alex.”

“No, I don’t.” Alex lets his bag slide from his shoulder. “I really don’t know what’s going on.” He laughs nervously. “What happened?”

“Oh, so you think it’s funny?”

Alex shakes his head, stepping further into the room, still not noticing the camera. “No, babe, I just don’t know what’s happened. What did I say? What did I do?”

“You really want to know?”

“Yes, baby, you know I don’t like upsetting you.”

“Alright.” Henry waits for a moment. When he talks again, there’s a smile in his voice. “You didn’t kiss me goodbye this morning.”

Alex’s shoulders slump, the tension bleeding out of him as he laughs and approaches Henry. “Seriously?” He laughs. “Baby, you were asleep, I didn’t want to wake you up.”

“Well, I was really hurt by it,” Henry laughs.

“Well, I can give you all the kisses you want now.” Alex leans over the camera and there is the sound of a kiss. “Happy?”

“I’ll allow it.”

"I can make you happier."

"How so?"

“Why don’t we go up-”

The video cuts off.

Chapter Text

While Alex didn’t technically get in trouble for his TikTok account, the Queen was pissed. The rest of Henry’s family, though, seemed to enjoy them.

The video starts pointing at Alex, someone else obviously filming. He is standing in a walk-in closet, the suits around him very well-made and incredibly expensive. Henry’s closet at Kensington Palace, presumably. The person filming, Henry from the sound of the giggling coming from off-screen, is close to Alex, who is grinning.

“Day 23 in the chamber,” he says, quoting a vine. He is making his accent more pronounced. “They ain’t found me yet, but when they do, they gon’ be surprised.”

The video ends halfway through Henry laughing.

Henry is sitting next to Philip, both of them at a fancy dining table. Philip is drinking tea while Henry looks off into the distance.

Talking along with the overlaid sound, Henry appears to say, “I think I’m in love with Sebastian,” though the captions replace the name with ‘Alex’. He turns to look at Philip, who has set his teacup down. “Any thoughts?”

“And prayers,” Philip lip-syncs. “You’re going to need them.”

Alex and Henry are standing in front of a cake. There is a caption over the cake saying ‘This is the cake at Philip’s wedding’ and both of them are wearing suits. The caption at the bottom of the screen reads ‘Royal wedding, circa 2019’.

“Now are you going to mind your own business,” Alex says along with the audio. It’s a sound clip from a 1950s film. “Or must I really give you a piece of my mind?”

With a demure look of superiority, Henry says, “Oh, I couldn’t take the last piece.”

Alex looks affronted.

The video starts with Alex, a phone in his hand. He’s frowning at it, then looks up at the group and says along with the audio, “What do you guys say when you answer the phone?”

The video shifts to Bea, looking up from her own phone. “Waddup?”

Then Philip, who does not look up from his book. “Who dis be?”

Then Henry, looking into the far distance. “No, she’s dead, this is her son.” Though the caption that appears with his words reads ‘No, he’s dead, this is his son’.

The caption above the video reads, ‘What Alex thought this first conversation with Henry would go like’.

Henry is talking along with the audio, a thick Irish accent. “So I says to meself, says I, Collum, this is no day for a do.”

Alex, standing next to him, looks confused. “What’s happening?”

“For when the bride arrived, and as I say, by this stage, the wind was fierce.”

Looking up at Henry, Alex says, “Am I dead?”

“I’ve never heard wind like it.” Henry nods as he speaks, holding a cup of tea, though it is very obvious that he is trying not to laugh.

“Is this my wake?”

Henry turned to look at Alex. “Howling like a banshee it was.”

“Am I in hell?”

Alex is lying down, the camera close to his face. He holds a finger to his lips, then moves his phone away from himself, revealing Henry, fast asleep, his head on Alex’s chest. Alex grins, his nose scrunching as he points to Henry, who remains unaware that he is being filmed. He frowns in his sleep, rubbing the side of his face deeper into the folds of Alex’s sweatshirt. Alex looks like he’s about to explode from the cuteness. The caption above his head reads ‘I’m stuck, but I want to stay here forever’.

The video starts with music from Lizzo’s “Boys” playing over Alex filming himself and Henry in bed. Henry has his eyes closed. Alex lip-syncs along with the lyrics, “I like” before it switches to a computerized voice saying “Attention”.

With each new “Attention”, the video shifts and shows Alex getting closer to Henry until he’s resting on Henry, who has his eyes open and is smiling at Alex.

“Attention please,” Alex says.

Henry chuckles, kissing his forehead.

Henry is reading in the frame when the video starts. The caption ‘Telling my boyfriend I’m mad at him to see how he reacts’ pops up on screen for a few moments.

“Henry,” Alex says, catching Henry’s attention. “I’m really mad at you.”

“Why?” Henry asks, concerned. “Is it because I ate the last pop-tart this morning?”

“No,” Alex says.

“What did I do?” Henry’s brows furrow. “Can I fix it with kisses?”

Alex is quiet for a moment. “Yeah, okay.”

Alex has the camera pointed at the bill on a pay-at-the-table screen. He then points the camera at Henry.

“Babe,” he says.

Henry looks up. “Yes?”

“Are we having sex tonight?”

Glancing at Alex’s phone, Henry squints and raises an eyebrow. “No.”

“Hmmm.”

The camera shifts back to the ziosk, where Alex presses ‘Split bill’.

Henry and Alex are both sitting at the kitchen table, looking at the camera. Sad piano music plays under audio of Dory from Finding Nemo .

“When I look at you,” the audio says. Alex looks slightly confused, while Henry smiles softly. “I can feel it. And I look at you, and I-I…”

Henry rests his head on Alex’s shoulder.

“And I’m home.”

Alex smiles and wraps his arms around Henry.

The audio finishes, “Please. I don’t want that to go away” while Alex kisses and kisses Henry’s cheeks and forehead, causing Henry to laugh.

Alex is facing the camera, a comment in the corner that reads ‘Arrest me daddy’.

“Hey guys,” he starts. “I know you think I’m daddy, but I’m allergic to fabric softener and dust. I’m not daddy.”

The camera flips to face Henry.

“He’s not daddy,” Henry agrees.

Alex has superimposed himself over a screenshot of a tweet he received. The name is blocked out by a black bar so that the person wouldn’t get any negative comments. It reads ‘OMG ur bi?? thats so cute!!! on ur gay days, are you Nora’s GBF????’

Alex frowns, laughing slightly. “I think I’d rather you just call me a slur.”

Chapter Text

Now that Henry has abdicated his position in the royal household, Alex feels like he’s got permission to post more and more videos. Henry loves all of them, of course.

They’re lying in bed, Alex holding his phone up to show both himself and Henry, who is looking at his own phone. The caption at the top of the screen reads ‘Why does my bf keep showing me proposal videos???’

Henry shows Alex his phone. “Isn’t that so pretty?”

“Yeah,” Alex says.

Resting his head on Alex’s shoulder, Henry shows his phone again. “Where do you think they are? It looks like somewhere tropical.”

“They might be.” Alex smirks at Henry. “Babe, are you trying to tell me something?”

Henry glances from his phone to Alex and back before rolling out of frame, leaving Alex laughing.

The video starts with Alex standing in front of the camera, his arms crossed over his chest. Henry, who is four inches taller than Alex, is standing behind him, as if trying to hide. The caption reads ‘Ordering food for my shy boyfriend’.

Alex speaks along with the audio. “No onions, no tomatoes. Cut in half.”

Henry leans down to the level of Alex’s ear. “Tell them no cheese.”

“No cheese!”

Alex has his phone set up so Henry can’t see it.

“Hey, I’m going to the store, you need anything?” he asks.

Henry looks up from his laptop and smiles, shaking his head. “No thanks, love.”

“Okay.” Alex leans over and kisses him on the cheek. “See you, Henry.”

A puzzled look appears on Henry’s face. “Henry?”

Alex looks back at him. “Yeah? It’s your name.”

“Yeah, but when was the last time you called me by my name?”

“I don’t know?” Alex laughs slightly, shrugging. “You good?”

“Well, yes, but…” Henry scoffs slightly. “You don’t normally… I just mean that…”

“Henry, is everything okay?”

Henry looks bewildered again. “Did I do something wrong?”

“No, why would you think that?” Alex is standing next to him again. “You’ve done nothing wrong, Henry.”

“Then why am I Henry?!”

Alex laughs, unable to contain himself any longer. “Babe, you’re fine, I-”

The video cuts out.

The two of them are sitting on their sofa, Alex holding the camera in front of them. An audio is playing.

“5 awkward questions for couples.”

Alex raises his eyebrows suggestively, causing Henry to laugh.

“Whose family sucks more?”

Both of them point to Henry, though he looks a little conflicted about it. The comment ‘only one family member is bad’ appears at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds.

“Who’s better at arguing?”

Both of them point at Alex. The comment ‘Lawyer, babeeeee’ pops up for a moment.

“Why has better style?”

They both point at each other, causing Henry to scoff and say something that can’t be heard while Alex shakes his head.

“Who is the freakiest?”

Henry blushes and ducks his head in embarrassment, grinning, but they both point to Henry. Alex wiggles his eyebrows again.

“Who loves the hardest?”

Once more, they both point at each other. Henry kisses Alex on the cheek.

The video starts pointed at Alex, who smiles widely at the camera. The caption ‘flirting with my bf in front of his family’ is at the top of the screen. Alex flips the camera to show Henry, who’s sitting across from him at a dinner table. The room looks fancy, but it isn’t a ballroom. One of the private kitchens at Kensington, presumably.

Alex strokes a finger down the palm of Henry’s hand, sliding their fingers together and rubbing a thumb across his knuckles. Henry grins at him, shaking his head with a small chuckle. Alex then caresses the inside of Henry’s wrist, slipping past the cuff of his sweater. He pulls his hand back, fingers lightly tracing the veins on the back of Henry’s hand. The video pans over to Philip, who is looking at Alex with a shocked expression on his face.

Alex and  Henry are back in their car, Alex behind the steering wheel. Henry isn’t entirely on screen, just his shoulder. Alex lip-syncs with an audio.

“If I ever say I hate white people,” he seems to say, “never ever am I talking about this lovely lady right here.” He pulls Henry into the frame and kisses his cheek. Henry is grinning. “This my queen hoe.”

The video starts pointed at Alex, with Henry standing behind him. He lifts the phone up high and smiles at the camera. He says something under the music playing and Henry takes the phone, still at a high angle. Alex then turns around in his arms and hugs him tightly. Henry laughs and kisses the top of his head.

They’re in some store in America. Henry is holding the camera and pointing it at Alex, who is looking at something on a shelf, a unicorn plushy in one hand. He sees Henry and grins.

“Why are you in the baby aisle?” Henry ask. “Is there something you want to tell me?”

Alex laughed. “Yeah, you’re pregnant.”

Both of them are staring down at the phone, looking slightly embarrassed. The caption above their heads reads ‘When both our apple watches thing we went for a run at 3 am’. Henry ducks his head into the crook of Alex’s neck when an audio clip plays, saying, “You’re gonna lose it when I tell you that I’m a whore.”

Both of them are laughing.

Chapter 4: Chapter 4

Chapter Text

With the Crown not angry with him anymore and his mom no longer the president, Alex felt just a little freer with his tiktoks.

-

The video starts pointed at Henry, who is looking through on of the cupboards, unaware that he’s being filmed. The video description at the bottom reads “I hid the jaffa cakes to start this fight”. The caption at the top of the video reads “Taking my shirt off mid argument to see my bf’s reaction”.

“Alex?” Henry calls.

“Yeah?” It sounds like Alex is walking into the kitchen.

“Have you seen the Jaffa cakes?”

“Oh, I finished the last one yesterday.”

Henry turns to look at Alex, his expression unimpressed. “Yesterday?”

“Yeah. Why?”

“And you didn’t get any more today?”

“No.” Alex isn’t on the screen, but from the raise of Henry’s eyebrow and the set of his shoulders, it can be assumed that Alex shrugged. “I’ll get some tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?”

“Yeah.”

“The store’s open now.”

“Baby, I just got home, you know how tired I am after work.”

“I know, and I appreciate how hard you work,” Henry says, sighing. “But I really wanted some Jaffa Cakes because I-”

Henry pauses, staring at Alex. The corner of his mouth twitches up into the beginnings of a smile.

“What are you doing?” he asks.

“What?”

Henry’s eyes visibly shift down and his amused smile grows wider. “Alex, what are you doing?” Henry takes in a deep breath and the sound of a zipper being pulled is just about heard and his eyes go lower. “Alex…”

“Is this better than Jaffa Cakes?” Alex asks.

-

They’re on the beach at the start of the next tiktok. Alex is filming Henry, who is laying on his front, propped on his elbows, reading a book. Alex tracks the camera up Henry’s back, showing off his muscles, freckles, and moles. The caption “This is why Mexicans like white guys” pops up for a few moments before Alex straddles Henry’s hips and sits on his ass. He traces a hand down Henry’s back, making him shiver.

“Mmm,” Alex mutters. “Tortilla.”

-

“Trying to prank my bf” is the caption at the top of the video.

Alex is sitting in the kitchen on his laptop when Henry walks into frame.

“Hey, babe,” Alex says, not looking up from his screen. “What time are we going out tonight?”

Henry freezes, looking up from his phone.

“Tonight?”

Alex looks at him. “Yeah. When are we going out?”

“Where are we going?”

Sighing, Alex shook his head and dropped his eyes back to his laptop. “I can’t believe this.”

“Can’t believe what?”

Looking up at Henry again, Alex raises an eyebrow. “You forgot. Of all days, you forgot today?”

Henry blinks at him for a moment before straightening his shoulders. “No, no, I didn’t forget anything.”

“Really?”

“You want to try this?” Henry smiles, ready to win a fight. “Your birthday is March 27th. The anniversary of our first kiss is on January 1st. The anniversary of when our emails leaked is September 27th. We started dating on October 1st. June’s birthday is October 14th. Your mum’s birthday is-”

Alex starts laughing. “Okay, okay!”

“You really want to try this with me?” Henry laughs along. “Where is it? I know you’ve got it here somewhere.”

Alex, still laughing, points to the camera. Henry walks over to it, smiling widely and tapping his temple.

“Like a steel trap,” he says. “Nothing gets out of this head. Nothing.”

-

Alex has the camera pointed at himself and June, both sitting at the table somewhere in the White House.

“He took his shirt off and I went,” Alex gasped along with the audio playing over the video. “Like my body went- like my body had a reaction.”

June grimmaces. “I don’t need to know about that, you keep that to yourself.”

-

The video starts with a close up of Henry. The very top of a book is just visible at the bottom of the clip.

“This is Bob,” an audio says. “Bob loves his personal space.”

The video pans outward to show Alex wrapped around Henry like an octopus.

“This is Larry. Larry also loves Bob’s personal space.”

-

The camera is pointing at Alex, sitting in bed in sweatpants, a tee shirt, and his glasses. He’s doing homework and rambling to Henry about class.

“And there’s this straight guy in my class, right?”

“Uh-huh,” Henry says.

“He says he hates it when gay guys say “spill the tea, sis”, like, what do straight guys say?” He frowns at his paperwork. “Spill the beer, bro?”

Henry laughs.

“I mean, grow up. Let people talk.”

-

The tiktok starts pointed at the floor, only the carpet in the shot. The video travels up the stairs and into an office, showing Henry sitting at a computer with headphones in, obviously on a video conference. His eyes flick to the camera and then back to his screen before his eyes go slightly wider and he looks back at the person behind the camera, obviously Alex. The caption “Walking in on my bf naked to see his reaction” pops up on the screen.

Henry goes slightly pink in the face, but keeps his expression neutral as he nods along with whatever the person on the other end says. His eyes flick back to Alex for a moment and then down at his own phone, which he picks up and points at Alex, mindful to not show it to whoever he’s on a call with. There’s a bright flash and the sound of a photo shutter, causing Alex to laugh.

-

Alex is laying face down in bed, the caption “pretending to be asleep to see what he does” above him. There’s soft music playing over the video. His sheets are down by his feet. The phone is set up so that it shows Alex and the door to the room, but there are things blocking parts of the room, showing that the camera is partially hidden.

The door opens and Henry walks in, David the beagle running in before him. David jumps up onto the bed on the side Alex isn’t in before sniffing at Alex’s neck, nearly causing Alex to break and laugh. Luckily, Henry doesn’t see his reaction.

Though the music covers his words, from the way his mouth moves, it’s clear that Henry is saying Alex’s name, but not getting a response. Henry walks over to the side of the bed that Alex is laying on and leans over him slightly, giving his shoulder a gentle shake. He then reaches down and pulls the comforter up and over Alex, settling it around his shoulders. He leans over him again and kisses the side of Alex’s head. When he leaves the room, Alex breaks character and looks like he’s going to happy cry at Henry’s affection.
