Work Text:
I sat in my room waiting for my choices to show up. Everyone in the bunker was given the opportunity to choose between two different options and it was my time to do so. I felt like it was all a big joke for how long it was taking, but as soon as I was ready to leave two small floating boxes appeared over my head. One read “$1000” and the other read “AirPods”. I assumed that all I had to do was touch them to get what they showed.
“I already have AirPods,” I said simply and pressed on the box with the money, but when I pressed it an error message showed up. I tried repeatedly pressing it but got the same message.
“Seriously?!” I exclaimed. With a huff I begrudgingly pressed on the “AirPods” box, the boxes immediately disappeared. Taking the place of the “AirPods” box was a pair of AirPods in a pink case with a white Nike logo on them. It fell into my hand. I was disappointed looking at them.
I sighed and made my way out of the room, I walked to the kitchen where I found Sam typing on his laptop and eating his lunch. He looked up from his screen.
“Hey dude, how’d your choices go?” He asked.
“Yeah, they were ok. I got these AirPods,” I replied, holding up the AirPods, “I already have some but at least they have a cool case, I guess,”
“Well at least see if they work!” Sam suggested.
“That’s a very good point,”
I opened the case and placed one of the buds in my ear. No sound was coming out of them, I don’t even think they were connected to anything. But when I looked back at Sam, I could hear him talking but his lips weren’t moving.
“I stole your red flannel,”
Confused as to how I was able to hear him talk without him talking, I decided to confront him about my missing flannel, “Did you steal my red flannel?”
Sam gave me a look of shock, as if I wasn’t supposed to know that. He then confessed, “I’m sorry, I was going to give it back,”
My disappointment continued, I didn’t know when I was going to get that flannel back. I loved the flannel.
I decided to leave Sam and find Cas, I assumed he was in the library reading up on lore as he always does. My assumption was right as I found him nose-deep in a book that was twice the size of his head. I chuckled to myself, he looked so nerdy. I loved it. I didn’t want to disturb him but I decided to make my way up to him, I wanted to tell him about what happened with Sam.
“Hey babe, you’ll never guess what happend,” I told him.
He looked up at me and smiled, happy to see me. But when he started to talk he didn’t move his lips. I forgot I had the earbud still in!
“I slept with Sam,”
My heart sank, I couldn’t believe what I heard. Did Castiel really cheat on me with Sam? When? How?
Cas could sense the betrayal I was beginning to feel and tried to console me, “Hey, you ok?”
I hoped that he didn’t know what I knew, but I couldn’t be with him right now. I turned away, not wanting to deal with the pain I was feeling, “Just forget it…”
I walked away from him, I didn’t know where else to go. I thought at that moment that the best thing to do was go for a drive, just to clear my mind. I made my way up the bunker stairs but when I reached the top the front door opened. Mom was the one who stepped through, she was back from a hunt she went on days ago. I usually would be excited to see her again but right now I was too depressed to care.
She noticed me and greeted me, “Hi honey, how was your day?”
“Yeah, not great actually,” I replied, mistakenly looking at her.
“I cheated on your father”
This news was the most shocking of all. Everything felt so unreal at this point, “What? You know what, I don’t even want to know,”
She was obviously confused at my reaction, unaware of what I just heard. I moved past her to leave the bunker, rushing to my car ready to leave. I slid into the driver's seat and plucked the bud out of my ear, placing it back in the case and shoving it back in my pocket. I started the engine and drove off wanting to forget everything that just happened.
I spent about an hour driving, I didn’t turn on the radio, I wanted my time to myself, time to process the news I’ve just heard. But I had a visit from an unlikely person.
“‘Allo Dean,” Crowley’s slimy voice came out of nowhere.
I looked to my right, he was sitting in the passenger's seat. I freaked out and swerved off the road, managing not to crash. I pulled out my pistol from my pocket and pointed it at him.
“What are you doing here?!” I yelled.
“Woah! Can’t a man touch base with his friend?” He raised his hands, not at all worried.
“We are not friends!” I was ready to pull the trigger.
“Yeah yeah, and water is wet, I get it,” he tried to change the conversation, “What’s gotten you so agitated? You’re normally a bundle of joy to be around,”
“Well for starters you’re in my car,” I was fed up, I hated his sarcasm and didn’t need this right now.
“And you’re pointing a gun at me,” he quipped. He then continued with some sort of sincerity, if he was even capable of something like that, “Seriously, what’s up?”
I groaned and withdrew my gun. I fished around my pocket again and pulled out the cursed AirPods, holding them up to Crowley. I told him, “These headphones are ruining my life,”
“That’s a bit dramatic, isn’t it?” He questioned, disregarding my concerns. I thought he was supposedly my friend.
“They tell me people’s secrets!” I shouted.
“Oh really?” Crowley became immediately curious, as if he already knew what they would say and that he wanted me to hear it, “What’s my secret?”
I didn’t want to hear what he had to say, knowing Crowley his secret would have to be something disgusting and vile. I decided to play along with him, rolling my eyes as I opened the case and placed the bud back into my ear. I then looked at him, and what I heard was something I was not expecting; especially from Crowley. I was flabbergasted. What I would have assumed his secret would be was nothing compared to what I heard him say.
“I’m in love with you,”
