Mihawk was a solitary man. Kuraigana island wasn’t a place to expect someone to wish to settle down with him, and it certainly wasn’t a place to raise children. So it came as a shock to everyone that Mihawk had decided to raise four children on his island, most of all Mihawk himself. Now, Mihawk had chosen to be alone, as he had learnt that there were certain rules to converse with other people, rules that he couldn’t keep up with as they changed around him. As such, Mihawk kept quiet and stopped engaging with people around him, making him seem condescending to others. However, this didn’t mean that he particularly liked to be alone, and parts of him craved for some form of human contact as he lived in isolation.
However, he had no way of knowing that a simple trip to Shimotsuki village would set in motion a complete upheaval of his life as he knew it, granting his wish of not being alone ever again.
