Chapter Text

Long ago, there we’re two races who ruled the Earth.

Humans and Monsters.

One way war broke out between the two races.

In the end the Humans won and sealed the Monsters Deep Underground with a magic spell.

That is how the Humans and Monsters relations, came to an end.

…

But what if I told you, that is not how history was truly written?

History is often told by the victors, but in that war, there we’re no victors nor losers.

In truth. The seven mages wanted to seal the monsters not for imprisonment, but for protection. As there was a much more dangerous and much more vile monster, they we’re up against that their Monster brethren could not beat.

Now that time has come once more, without realizing it, the barrier has weakened overtime. Allowing Humans to enter the World below the Mountain, but never return.

…We call these Humans- these children who came down to the Surface, “Guardians”. And now, they must fight an enemy that was the reason for the monster’s imprisonment.

4/26^th Night, New Home.

A young human was walking towards a tall and imposing building, all windows brimming with light from the inside despite the desolate outside. It has been 4 years since he has dropped down into the Underground, now starting Senior Highschool which was situated at New Home, it feel wrong to leave his… adopted family’s home after so long spending time together, but he has to. In order to get his dream job. Whatever it was.

Suddenly he felt a push on his back, moving a bit forward towards the building now nearer to it, the human looked back and saw a female furry monster, a female fox monster who had brown fur and even darker colored hair, with the edge of her tail colored black. She wore a Pink kimono with gold trimmings, with a gold obi sash around her waist with green-tipped goggles on her head, she wore a yellow scarf with a bell at the front. Her pants we’re a fine black-brown with pockets and doesn’t wear any shoes. She has a ponytail, with a bell hair stick keeping it all together

“Hurry up! Don’t just stand there dummy” The fox girl said, giggling as she went inside the building, smiling along the way

The human chuckles “I’m coming Kanako” as he then slowly follows the fox monster – named Kanako towards the door, with a deep breath he enters in. As he enters in he heard a bell rung, looking around only to see at the front, residing in a peculiar site, a monster, only this monster was grey, grey all even his eyes we’re aswell. The mysterious monster smiled, something in his SOUL made him walk towards the monster, noticing a small mirror at the receptionist table, why is it there? He takes a look at it

The Human looked at the mirror, seeing his face. A small cut at his cheek to signify when he fell down, bleeding from the cheek, it was a goat monster to helped him. He wore a cowboy hat with a blue feather placed on the right side of his hat and a small golden bell with fox ears on his left, wrapped around a red rope. He looked down to his clothes, which he wore a opened brown jacket with cotton ends and the same golden trimmings like kanako’s with a Slightly dark-orange long-sleeved t-shirt with blue pants, almost Identical for when he came down here. He wore a checkered bandana aswell as a golden bell on the front of it, similar to Kanako’s aswell, a golden star etched with the word “deputy” on it clipped on his jacket, he looked at the monster ahead of him

“Welcome to the UG Condominium” The monster said, though it’s voice seems to wobble in and out, sometimes loud, sometimes quiet “Please sign the contract for your stay” The monster said

The human raises an eyebrow. He doesn’t recall that you needed to sign a contract to stay in a apartment, he shrugs and grabs a pen, looking down at the contract

I chooseth this fate of thine own will, to fight thine injustice of the world below and above.

Clover Ketsukane

The human – now named clover looked at the monster who which smiled.

“And thus, the contract has been sealed.” The Monster said, “It’s been far too long since the Monsters have been to the surface” The monster said, the human nodded. The monster looked up above “But I wonder, when the barrier does decay, will they be excited at the new world, or be terrified of it?”

Clover looked confused at that statement before replying with his own opinion “They’d be excited, wouldn’t they?”

The monster chuckled “Maybe, maybe your right, but I should go, your sister is coming soon” As soon as he said that, I heard footsteps and looked towards my right, seeing Kanako with all the previous humans and a few monsters.

“Heyyyy Clover!” Kanako screams loudly as she runs towards Clover “What is taking you so long?” She asked her brother, in which Clover got sheepish and scratched his head

“Well, I was filling out the contract for quite some time” Clover said, before noticing that all of the residents got confused

“We don’t have a contract for staying however” The Human teen that was wearing a green shirt with brown pants and a apron said, the Human next to him, a girl who was wearing a tutu also agreed and nodded

Clover looked skeptical “Really? But I was just writing a contract right-“ He slowly gestures towards the reception desk, only to see that the contract and the gray monster, we’re gone. “Here…” Clover’s voice died down as a blinked for a bit, was he imagining that meeting? Suddenly flushing with embarrassment

One of the humans, a human with wrapped bandages in his hands, chuckled, then another human who wore a red ribbon that tied her hair and then another, then everyone got a small laugh, even kanako. Still Clover smiled, before heading towards his new room.

He was staying with Kanako again, curtesy of Room placement by the landlord, who was a monster called mettaton, the caretaker of Integrity, who he was a friend with – Melody.

He laid down on his bed and slowly drifted asleep waiting the next day

…What he didn’t know was that his life was about to become a lot more interesting for the next year and so.

Ever wonder what happened to the Surface?

4/31^st Midday, New Home Condominium

A beautiful ray hits Clover and his friends, as he and the rest of the humans and monsters lounges around the apartment, The kindness human, named Eggy was making lunch for the rest of the others, with the patience human, Ribbon, Helping him. It seems these two know each other well, Infact mostly everyone knows each other at some point. Whether through their accidental meetings before they started to live together or from what their parents or friends had told them. The underground feels small with these connections.

Clover looks at his side, seeing his Sister – Kanako, talking with one of the humans, the ballerina, now wearing much more casual attire, her name was Melody. Which incidentally was also the name of his biological sister, which she is his big sister. Her caretaker is Martlet, the bird monster that sometimes comes around their home.

Even though they live in different households with different names, they still treat eachother as siblings, kanako even joined in on the fun.

Both we’re talking about what has been happening in their lives aswell as Clover’s, as much as he wishes to keep some things secretive.

“So how’s collage going?” Kanako said to Melody, Melody puts a finger to her cheek

“Going well, as much as I hoped” Melody said happily, they both smiled and giggles as they continued to talk their worries away

Clover then looked at the remaining Humans and Monsters, There was the Orange Souled human, named Togh, his nickname is finger. And has heard every finger joke imaginable, but he takes it in stride. He resides in the gym most of the time, practicing under undyne or for the occasional tournament battles, he is uncontested ever since coming to the UG School.

Next is Perseverance, Hope is her name and she is one introverted bookworm. But she does sometimes socialize with us, admittedly her voice is super soft and a whisper, which Clover finds cute. Never letting anyone know. She’s usually studies in the Libaray(Yes that is the name, A certain bird carpenter messed up) and aces every exam she has gotten. If you do approach her she will gladly help you study.

Next to her is a Bat monster that looks like dracula’s friendly cousin, Dalv. Clover has heard that Melody and Dalv are in the same class and both take the same clubs. Dalv is a pianist, and creates beautiful songs, that they both Dalv and Melody both perform on stage. Clover looks suspiciously at Dalv, Dalv just meeps and continues to read a book.

Next up, a Monster at the far back, an octopus like monster with a scrawny body, with thick jacket and jeans. He was Taki, and a bit of a loner around the apartment, usually not socializing unless you go to him first. He’s not an unpleasant monster to be around though

Clover and the rest of the gang are enjoying a well earned rest for the weekend, just chatting, goofing around and generally just having a good time, it’s perfect too, since Eggy and Ribbon have finished cooking their lunch

“Alright everyone, let’s chow!” Eggy said, as he sat down on the dinner table

As everyone else started to get up… a loud crack and a thunderous roar came in. That freaked everyone out, except Taki, but then the world began to shake…

“Woah what’s-“

“What’s going on?!”

“There’s hasn’t been an earthquake this strong in a millenia!”

“A-Are we gonna-“

Everyone panicked as they tried to hold on to the ground, but the shaking was strong and they wobbled into the floor, Clover held Kanako close to him.

“C-Clover, I-I’m scared…” Kanako mutters out, it felt like a gut punch to see her be like this, he hugged her tighter

“Kana, I promise I will protect you” Clover said with conviction, they both felt a bit of safety in eachother arms, as the world slowly starts to melt away, with his ears ringing…

The Underground would never be the same again.
