Yingxing hadn’t expected his night would consist of showing his goldfish now turned human around his room, but as an eight year old child, this was definitely in the top five most exciting things that ever happened to him. No, definitely the most exciting thing.
“Hey, look at this! It’s my figurine collection! When I grow up, I want to make a bunch of robots. I even made this one from the leftover metal pieces from my dad’s job.”
The other boy quickly had the figure in his hands. Even though he looked human, he had a pair of horns on his head; he had those when he was a fish too. He wanted to know more about the other.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
The other boy suddenly looked a bit down, like his switch was turned off.
“I don’t really get a say. Mother says I have to rule the kingdom when she’s gone.”
Yingxing couldn’t believe this. Everyone should get a say in their futures! Impulse is what led him to say what he did next.
“If you stay up here, you can carve out your own future without needing to worry about any of that!”
The other boy looked more hopeful now.
“Will you be there?”
Yingxing let out a toothy grin.
“Of course, who else is going to show you all the ropes?”
