Love Shall Ignite the Stars

Summary:

Upon Anakin being presented to the Council by Qui-Gon, the Council finds that he's a stolen child and returns the kid to his real mother after the Naboo Crisis.

Anakin is one small fluff ball to keep everyone together, as he lives with his mother, a loving stepfather, Gabriel Reyes, and a little brother named Michael.

Notes:

This is my 100th work, and thus, I am putting a halt to posting new stories, until I get my current WIPs finished. I am getting the writer's block with some of them worked out, however.

Chapter 1: Discovered and returned

Chapter Text

On Coruscant, Qui-Gon Jinn presented the boy, aged nine to the Council, as a Jedi Maverick said that Anakin Skywalker was born to a woman, who was not with any man, and that Anakin Skywalker's Midi-Chlorian count was higher than Yoda's.

The boy was found on Tatooine, and he helped the Jedi alongside the Queen of Naboo escape from the planet by getting the replacement part of the ship by winning in the pod race. Anakin was also freed, and he left his mother behind to join the Jedi Order to come back and free her.

"Who did you say his mother was?" one of the Jedi inquired in curiosity, when Anakin exited the room after a test.

"Shmi Skywalker," Qui-Gon answered.

"Qui-Gon, we need to do the blood test at once. Are you aware that Shmi Skywalker is wanted for stealing a child named Anakin O'Deorain?" Mace Windu asked, once he heard the name of the woman.

Qui-Gon was taken off guard by that. He didn't imagine that a kind woman was capable of such a horrible thing. She helped them escape Tatooine, and Anakin left her behind. Now, this came up.

"Are you certain?" Qui-Gon asked.

"Yes. His blood will be drawn, and sampled against Shmi Skywalker's. If Anakin Skywalker is Anakin O'Deorain, we'll have her freed to turn her over to the authorities to have her prosecuted for her crimes," Mace said.

"And Anakin?" Qui-Gon asked.

"Returned to his real mother, he must be. Feel her pain of loss through the Force, I do," Yoda responded grimly.

"And you know that it doesn't say that the Chosen One has to be a Jedi," Mace added.

Qui-Gon nodded reluctantly, as he discovered the Chosen One, but, if the Prophecy indeed had said that he did not have to be a Jedi, then, the Prophecy would have to be followed. And with the Sith around, Anakin was in danger.

Anakin still did his part in saving Naboo, but, he was devastated that he wasn't becoming a Jedi. And, the Force revealed his true looks. Instead of a boy with blond hair, he was now a boy with bright red hair and his eyes were both brown and blue. Now there was no doubt that he was stolen from his mother. It was suggested that she used the Force to disguise Anakin as her child to fool the authorities.

It hurt him to learn that he was stolen from his real mother, and, thus, he so wanted to come back to her. This eclipsed the hurt of not being a Jedi, as he just wanted his real mother back.

Qui-Gon was killed by the Sith Zabrak that was suspected to be a strong Sith Apprentice. Additionally, the Council decided to send Anakin to the safe location to protect him from the Sith, given his Midi-Chlorian count.

Tanis Mothma was contacted about the finding of her great-nephew. She confirmed that her sister and her husband were killed during the war called the Omnic Crisis. She was glad to hear that her niece's son was found, however.

"Yes, Moira has the same eye colors as Anakin. The condition is called Heterochromia Iridium, and since Anakin is like a clone of Moira, he inherited that condition," she said.

"Return him to his mother, we shall," Yoda agreed.

"Thank you. I have no doubt that Moira will love to have her son returned to her. Last I've heard from her was that she fell in love and married the commander of Blackwatch, Gabriel Reyes. I am sure that he'll love Anakin as if he was his son," Tanis said.

"Safe with his stepfather, young O'Deorain will be," Yoda agreed.

"Where are your niece and her husband?" Mace inquired.

"She sent me these coordinates. Switzerland Overwatch Headquarters, their main base. She lives there in the Blackwatch section, where she does her experiments and goes on missions alongside three others, her husband, Gabriel, a gunslinger named Jesse McCree and a cyber ninja named Genji Shimada. I don't know if anyone else joined that division of Overwatch, as I was contacted by her a year ago. That was when she married," Tanis answered, as she provided the map of the planet, and the part of the Galaxy it was located alongside the region. And a photo of Moira O'Deorain with her husband and the two other men mentioned by Tanis.

"Thank you, Lady Mothma. We'll see that Anakin O'Deorain is returned home safely," Mace said.

"Please contact me once you return Anakin to Moira, and I will keep her updated on the case against Shmi Skywalker," Tanis said.

This was after the funeral of Qui-Gon Jinn, and despite Obi-Wan's request to make him Anakin's Master, it was denied. He wasn't ready for a Padawan, and Anakin had to be returned to his real mother.

Quinlan Vos was tasked to free Shmi Skywalker to have her turned over to the authorities, while Mace traveled to the coordinates he was given. Anakin was happy to be in a star ship again, travelling.

He was excited to go somewhere new, and he was happy to know that he was going home. And he learned that his real mother got someone in her life, that loved her. He held a photo, as he memorized people in it.

"I am not sure about the experiment part. Same with missions," Mace noted.

"They sound sketchy, if the division is called 'Blackwatch'. Still, can't wait to see Overwatch," Anakin replied, as he barely held his excitement contained. Even though he wasn't a Jedi, he was still happy to know that he was not going to be sent back to Tatooine.

Staying on Naboo would suffice as well, but, returning to his real family was great.

The ship traveled to the planet that matched the holo photo, and Anakin saw that it was like Naboo, but much beautiful. There were some parts that were desert, but, he would live in the base, that was in the forest.

It didn't take long for them to find the base. It was big, and in the courtyard was a statue of a man, that neither Anakin or Mace could recognize. That man could be potentially be a leader of Overwatch.

In front of them was a man, who was gunslinger matching the description of a man in the hat and the cowboy outfit. His messy brown hair could only mean one thing, it was Jesse McCree who stood in front of them.

"Howdy," he said, as he tipped his hat in bow to strangers. "What brings you here?" he asked.

"We're looking for Moira O'Deorain and Gabriel Reyes. My name is Mace Windu and I'm from Jedi Council. We have found a child who was reported stolen from Ms O'Deorain, or Mrs Reyes," Mace responded.

Jesse McCree was stunned, as he looked at the boy, who was the exact copy of Moira, but wearing ragged clothing. The boy looked back with a curiosity.

"So, you're her missing boy? Well, pleased to meet you. I'll lead you to them, but keep it down, there is a baby in the family," Jesse answered as they walked.

"Baby?" Mace asked. Anakin was speechless.

"Two months ago, she gave birth to her second son, Michael Reyes. He's been her joy, but I am sure that she'll manage to care for both him and Anakin," Jesse answered.

"You know my name?" Anakin inquired.

"She told us about it. Looked all shattered when she was done talking. I am sure that you'll bring her spirits back up. As for the naming of your little brother, it is a tradition in the Reyes family to name their men after Angels in legends," Jesse answered

"My little brother is named after an Angel? Cool," Anakin thought as the three walked to the office, where the man with blond hair and blue eyes was waiting for them. Jesse seemed to have alerted the man, as he was curious.

"Agent McCree, what is it about?" he asked.

"I've brought a member of the Jedi Order and a child, as there is an update on the whole case concerning Moira and her kid," Jesse began. The man in his seat showed confusion, as he motioned. "Yep, the Jedi finally solved the missing child case, and brought Anakin O'Deorain back here," Jesse responded.

"That's great to hear. Moira isn't exactly herself, and already contacted her family to keep her updated on the search. Last time it was before her wedding to Gabriel and some began losing hope. Fortunately, Gabriel, Moira and Michael are in their quarters in this base. I'll have the parents called here, as their son is asleep," Jack Morrison said, as he then had the AI named Athena send a message to the parents.

Mace knew that this was going to be a hectic reunion, so, he would watch from afar.

Sure enough, the people who were in the photo arrived on the spot.

"You asked for us, Jack?" Gabriel Reyes asked. He wore a beanie hat on his head, which he did not on a wedding photo.

"I did. Moira, the Jedi finally solved the case, as Anakin was brought to them, and he was sent here to be returned to you. As for the thief, she's going to be turned over to Moira's family, who will see to it, that the culprit is prosecuted for her crimes," Jack responded.

"And where is Anakin?" Moira was shaking from the excitement, that Gabriel had to hush to calm her down.

"Here, Mrs Reyes," Mace answered, as Anakin appeared from the behind. He was talking with Jesse, who was finishing up a story of sorts. Anakin was just curious in it, before he was called to face his real mother.

As long as he lived, Gabriel would not forget the scene that spilled in front of him. Moira and Anakin first grunted in pain, before they rushed to one another in a collision course called the reunion.

Moira was in tears, as she embraced Anakin, who was sobbing too. Gabriel had to steady them, as the two nearly crashed into one another.

Once the two calmed down, Moira wiped the tears from both her and her son's eyes.

"I missed you so much, sweetie. Welcome back home," she said.

"I missed you as well. What is it that happened, Mom?" Anakin inquired.

"Our bond reawakened. I learned to control our powers on my own, so, I will teach you what I know. But first, you got to meet the rest of our Blackwatch family. I am sure that he's lurking around," Moira responded.

Then, Anakin spotted a half-cyborg human next to Jesse. The former was silent, as he eyed Anakin.

"Genji, meet my son, Anakin. He just returned home," Moira said.

"Hello," Anakin responded.

Genji saluted Anakin, and responded with a greeting as well, which meant that he was not a silent type, but shy. Anakin could feel pain and anger in Genji.

"What about his kidnapper, Master Jedi?" Gabriel asked.

"She's going to be extracted from a sticky situation that she landed herself and Anakin in, and then turned over to the Mothma family, who will see to it that she's prosecuted," Mace answered.

"As a former police officer, I can assure you that Anakin's kidnapper will face jail time, if she's found guilty," Gabriel said.

"It's more than that. Mothmas and Skywalkers are allies. This has shattered that alliance," Moira added.

"All for what? Replacing a child that she lost?" Gabriel grumbled.

Mace agreed on that. What Shmi Skywalker had done was unexcusable, that hurt Moira and her son, alongside the relationship between both families that Shmi and Moira were part of.

Anakin came to the Reyes Quarters, where there was a new room set up, given that he could come back. He was given a bedroom of his own, and it was next to his brother's. As for Michael, he was adorable.

Mace could have sworn that the baby resembled his father, but had a patch of red hair that was notable to Mothma family.

The three were on the floor, as Anakin had his hand hear his brother. The little one grabbed Anakin's finger in a response, and Anakin gave a gentle kiss on the forehead.

Mace gave them a hint that he was leaving, and he quietly departed the base.

He then, contacted Quinlan, who was in the pilot seat.

"Mission on my end is successful, Master Windu. Shmi Skywalker will be turned over to the Mothma family, who will see her prosecuted, given that Tannis is not only the aunt, but the adoptive mother of sorts to Moira Reyes," Quinlan said.

"Did she admit what she has done?"  Mace asked.

"Yes. Watto was in disbelief, and said that he was glad that Anakin was to be returned to his real mother. He quickly turned her over and had her chip removed. What happens from there is up to the court, but I was assured that the Mothma family will see to it that she is fully prosecuted," Quinlan answered. "How is the family reunion?"

"A wonderful reunion. Not only Anakin O'Deorain reunited with his mother, he also met his step-father, his adoptive siblings and his little brother. Two months ago, Michael Reyes was born, who looks like his father, but has his mother's hair color. He also has brown eyes, so, he did not inherit his mother's condition," Mace answered.

"That's one thing done to brighten up his reunion. What is the Council's decision about him, given that Qui-Gon Jinn said that he was the Chosen One?"

"He will stay with his real mother to protect him from the Sith, as there is a concern that the Sith Lord can try and manipulate him. He will be safe on Earth, and while I don't know if he will join Overwatch, since it will be up to him, I sense that he's to prevent a looming disaster," Mace answered.

"May the Force be with them, and us. Obi-Wan will still insist that Anakin is to be trained, right?"

"The prophecy nowhere says that the Chosen One has to be a Jedi. As much as he wants to honor his Master's promise, he's not ready to be a Master of a child, who will restore the Balance in his own way," Mace answered, as his ship left the planet, and the family for the time being.
