Forever together never apart

Summary:

Maybe they should have listened when Neito offered to take them home in the morning.
Maybe they should have stayed the night?
Maybe if they had listened, they wouldn't be in this situation in the first place

Chapter 1: chp1

Chapter Text

“You two sure you’re okay to be walking this late?”
“Yeah we’ll be fine Neito, UA’s not that far.”
“I know I mean you could just stay till Monday and we could go together.”
“We got a hang out sess with the squad on Sunday sorry, we’ll be alright Neito I promise.”
“Just text me when you get back, please.”
Neito sighed as he watched Denki and Hitoshi walk down the driveway and up the street. The walk was only a twenty-minute way back and they promised to text him back. Denki was smiling with joy after having a fun night with Hitoshi and Neito. He was skipping down the block, and the night sky was filled with stars while the streets were empty. Hitoshi walked with one air pod in and one out as Denki skipped in front.

“Be careful babe, don’t want you falling.” He warned, Denki stopped and waited for him to catch up at the stop sign. Just as Hitoshi caught up, Denki ran through the crosswalk. Without looking he didn’t see the van speeding towards them, but Hitoshi saw the lights. He leaped forward to catch up to Denki and push him out of the way though neither boy was quick enough and everything went black.

When they woke up Denki was the first, his head was pounding and everything was blurry. His entire body hurt as if he’d been run over by a truck. When his vision slowly returned he saw a lump of purple beside him and rationed that it was Shinsou.

“T-Toshi?” He reached out to tap him on the shoulder, the lump on the floor twitched a little and made a soft groaning noise.

“T-Toshi please, wake up.” Kaminari tried again, nudging him this time, another groan came out but the body shifted slowly to sit up. Kaminari looked around noticing they were in some sort of old hospital room from the looks of it.

“Wh-where are we, n why does everything hurt?” Kaminari relaxed a little when Shinsou was up and talking. However, he frowned when he couldn’t give his boyfriend an answer. The room was dim, with hardly any light inside, and the walls were a cold stark white tile. They were sitting on the floor just five feet away from an old hospital bed. Denki and Hitoshi managed to climb on top of it with their limited strength.

“Fuck I’m already drained, wh-what the hell happened?”
“I-i don’t know…”

Dizziness, pain, and exhaustion overtook them both. Only to be woken up by a voice-over speaker.

“Time to wake up my little experiment, time to get started!” The static voice was shrill and loud, jolted them both from their light sleep state.

“Good to see you’re up, lil rats, you can call me Doctor or Doc, i don’t care. Now that you’re up, come out of your room.” The voice instructed, first the two were hesitant but they didn’t waste any time getting up. As soon as their bare feet hit the frigid tile crackling and popping could be heard as they made their way to the door.

“When you leave the room, you’ll head down the hall way and take a right and go through a set of double doors.” The two warily remained close, their hands ghosting each other as they left their room entering an empty cold hallway. The walls and floor were just as white and dark as their bedroom, barely light-working. Shinsou was wondering why they were allowed to roam freely, even if it was by instruction he expected an escort to make sure they wouldn’t run away or disobey. Walking was painful, their joints clicked and popped, feeling things inside slipping and rolling.

Making their way to corridors, the doctor instructed them to turn and go through another door. Behind the door was a surgical room with many instruments and a surgical bed.

“Why are we in a surgical room?” Asked Kaminari, without missing a beat the doctor answered him over the speaker.

“For surgery of course! There are a few things I need for you both to do, and I’m sure you’ll be able to complete it.” Surgery, were they going to operate on each other? Cut each other’s stomachs open or something?!

“First I’m going to need two vials of blood from both of you. Next, there are chips I want you to place inside each other, no you can not just swallow them. Once you are done there are several injections you will have.” Was this real?! Was this guy real? Was this a nightmare?! Were they really going to perform medical procedures on each other?!

“Well lil rats, get to work”

There was a click then silence, Hitoshi and Denki wandered over to the surgical table and saw all the supplies laid in a tin. Forceps, tweezers, scalpels, blades, suture material and more! Their hands brushed over the cold instruments on the table nervously. Shinsou was the first to pick up a scalpel, eying the shiny tool. He seemed to be in though and Denki picked up on it.

“What are you thinking, Toshi?” There was a small sigh and his eyes flickered over Denki’s body before he replied.

“Give me your arm.” Denki took a step back folding his arms to his chest.

“Wh-what?”

“There might be consequences if we don’t do what he says. So we might as well get it over with. I don’t know how to use an IV so I’ll cut your arm a bit and get the blood for your vials. You can do mine.” Denki’s blood turned cold at this, but he knew there was some truth to this. There might be consequences and he didn’t want to find them out. They were gonna have to do more drastic things when it came to the chip. Stepping back over to the table he extended his right arm out, looking as he swallowed the lump in his throat.

“J-just get it over with, please.” With a nod, Hitoshi looked over Denki’s arms, then the scalpel in hand and the vials beside it. He didn’t know where or what to cut into that would get enough blood out of Denki without causing him severe pain or hemorrhaging. He knew the fingers definitely wouldn’t be enough, the top of the wrist looked dangerous. He could feel Denki’s pulse speeding up beneath his own fingers, he knew this wouldn’t be without pain. He placed the blade carefully along Denki’s palm and whispered out an apology before slicing. The first cut was shallow, barely nicking the skin, he had to go harder! Denki’s arm twitched, and his fingers flexed out, curling and uncurling with each attempt until Denki said.

“It's gonna be okay”

Shinsou switched up his grip on the scalpel pushed down with as much pressure as he could and swiftly dragged it through Denki’s flesh. Denki let out a scream which he quickly muffled with his other hand. He could tell this was a deep cut, a long one too, the sear burning pain as his blood began to pour from his palm. Shinsou grabbed a vial and turned Denki’s hand over to get the blood inside it. He did have to do a bit of squeezing and coaxing but he managed to fill both vials. He wrote Denki’s initials on them and then bandaged him up. It made his skin crawl to see the crimson liquid in a vial but even worse when it was seeping through the gauze!

“Oh shit!”
“I-its alright, it’ll stop” Kaminari tried to reassure through his gritted teeth while he secured another set of gauze and bandages to his hand. Next was Shinsou, Denki had done the same method though it only took two tries for him to create a deep laceration that would give them the right blood volume. Once that was done, there were the microchips which sadly they couldn’t just swallow them. The only other option was to implant them somewhere, that process was grueling and horrifically painful.

It took lots of cutting in many different places until they settled on placing the chip behind their ears. Finally came the injections, they didn’t even know what was in the syringes they were just labeled ‘A’ ‘B’, and ‘C’. A and B felt strange going in, but C was horrible. The serum burned as it was pushed through their veins. It was like salt in the wound, the burning sensation spread through the injection site but finally, it was over.

“Good lil rats, your reward is back in your room, I’m sure you will appreciate it.” The doctor praised them, a reward? What could it be? Once again the boys were allowed to go back by themselves. Walking back to their room cradling their arms close to themselves.

In their room there two instant ramen cups and water placed on the bed. Skeptically the two looked around the room until they didn’t see anything or anything else in there. Approaching the bed they picked up their reward and noticed the instant ramen was freshly cooked. They sat beside each other on the bed looking confusedly at their food. It did not smell any different or look strange either, with a shrug they ultimately ate it. They had already done enough to each other that day, they were just happy to see food. It did take them until now to notice they were placed in hospital pajamas. This didn’t feel real, none of this felt real. Were they really trapped inside of a hospital? Was this some sick joke or prank? Or was this all just some awful nightmare?

Whatever this was, both of them hoped it would end soon.

Chapter 2: chp2

Chapter Text

Neito had an off feeling when neither of his boys texted him back as they had promised. He tried calling them multiple times only to receive no answer. His concerns only grew worse when he went over to the UA dorms to check and ask around if Shinsou or Kaminari had made it back. Many of their peers were confused and concerned when they said they had not seen either of them. A worried bakusquad was no help to him when they told him they couldn’t get an answer from Denki’s phone either. No calls or texts went through. Next on the chain of command were the teachers.

The Bakusquad went as a group to the teacher’s dorm to bring up their concerns. The first to answer the door was Aizawa, the perfect guy.

“What is it?” He asked clearly not in the mood on a Sunday evening.

“Um Mr Aizawa we’re sorry to bother you but, Kaminari and Shinsou are missing, they were supposed to come back from Nieto's house a night or so ago and they never came back. They’re not answering their phones at all.” Monoma explained, that Aizawa almost choked on the coffee he was sipping on when he came to the door.

“Are you serious?!” Monoma nodded and the kids were quickly pulled inside where Monoma explained the same story to the other pro heroes. Worry grew amongst them, they knew that if this got out to the media the school would be screwed. They were already facing backlash due to the villain attacks and Bakugou’s previous kidnapping. This was going to have to stay under the radar but of course, parents needed to be notified.

With Aizawa and Hizashi being Hitoshi’s legal guardians the only parents that had to be informed fully were Denki’s. This was going to be unpredictable since Aizawa and Hizashi knew Denki didn’t have a solid relationship with his parents. It's not that they abused him but it was more of neglect and total disinterest. They were hardly home and left everything up to him with hardly any regard to his whereabouts, so neither pro-hero expected an ounce of care from them.

“W-wait, what?” Mei’s voice trembled with her hand over her mouth in shock.

“Yes, we’ve received word that your son Denki is missing. He was supposed to come back from a classmate’s house but him and the classmate he was going back with never returned. It looks to be a kidnapping, he’s not answering his phone nor is his location on.” Ayato let out a nervous-sounding chuckle and asked Shouta if he was joking. Shouta shook his head and Ayato paced around pushing a hand through his hair and forcing long breaths. Mei was repeating ‘How could this happen’ over and over.

“D-do you have any leads at all?”
“Not yet, we’re just starting this investigation. I do ask that you please keep that chatter of this case to a minimum to keep it away from the media.”
“Look, Eraser,I know Mei and I haven’t been the best parents,” You could say that again, that was an understatement.

“But please, do what you have to to find him.” Pleaded Ayato, Shouta agreed reassuring them they would do everything they could. They did not expect this level of genuine concern for Denki’s well-being from either of them, it was rather heartwarming, to say the least. Shouta and Hizashi were just as worried for both Denki and Hitoshi, wondering what could have happened and where they could have gone.

Explaining it to Eri wasn’t easy either, they didn’t want for her to have to keep any secrets but they knew that she deserved to know. Of course, she was upset, her big brother was gone and if the pro heroes were scared then this was bad!

Days went by, and they checked the route Denki and Hitoshi took to get to Monoma’s house from UA. There were no street cameras, the neighbors weren’t of any help and no traces of them could be found…Except for some blood?

“Did you guys hear of any accidents around here from the neighbors?” Asked a detective, Hizashi shook his head.

“Nope nothing”
“Well, one of my groups reported that up that street where the crosswalk is is a huge spatter of blood. They’re gonna collect it and see what they can get from it.”

“Alright keep us posted on what you find.”

Later on, it was confirmed the blood they had found was Hitoshi and Denki’s, they had something, it wasn’t much but it was something! Now here’s hoping they find more clues sooner rather than later. With the little sleep, Aizawa hardly got he was already having nightmares about finding his students dead in a river and he was hoping for these nightmares to remain just that, nightmares.
Neito was going to burn on the inside from keeping everything from everyone. His peers noticed his complete change in personality. His usual loud, reactive, somewhat cruel energy had turned into a ball of depression. He’d gone quiet, Kendo used to struggle to shut him up, but now she couldn’t get a full conversation from him. It wasn’t that he couldn’t say his boyfriends were missing due to safety sake, but he just couldn’t bring himself to come to terms with it. No matter how long his calls went unanswered. There was a piece of him that was holding onto denial like his life depended on it and it was slowly driving him insane. Finally, during after-class training, he exploded.

He was going much harder than usual against TetsuTetsu, he didn’t pull any punches, a fire ignited in his eyes as he followed through every attack and counter. TetsuTetsu was surprised by the sudden energy from him, Neito had never fought like this! Kendo saw it too as if he was fighting to protect. He kept going round after round hardly allowing himself a break until Tetsu requested it and Kendo didn’t want to sub in.

“Dude you need to chill, take a break you’re gonna hurt yourself if you don’t.” warned the silver-haired boy, Neito shook his head through deep panting with his hands on his head.

“No fucking way, I can’t stop now!”
“Dude you’re freaking us out, first you’ve been mopey and depressed for days on end and now you’re all ready to fight god or something. What’s going on?” Tetsu asked, Monoma tried to deny it, nothing was wrong he was fine!

“Monoma, seriously you never act like this, you know we’re friends right? You can tell us things.” Assured Kendo as she approached and handed him a Gatorade drink.

“Yeah yeah but it's fine, I’m fine, no-nothing to worry about.” They could hear the doubt edging in his words, Monoma chugged on the drink as he sat down on the bench and looked through his phone. Seeing his screen savor was what did him in, it was a picture of him, Denki, and Hitoshi in a group photo at a light-up park. He didn’t notice the tears threatening to spill until he choked out a soft.

“Pl-please come ho-home.”
“Monoma?” A sob slipped past his lips as the dam of emotions cracked. Kendou and Tetsu were careful as they got close to their friend.

“Ey man come on, we’re here for ya” Encouraged Tetsu while he rubbed a firm hand across Monoma’s back. He shook as he held the phone in his hand, slumping against his friend’s shoulder as he cried.

“I-I miss them, I miss them so fucking much. I-Its my fault,” He gave a shaky gasp between words.

“I should have made them wait till morning. I should’ve walked the-them back m-myself.” Kendou and Tetsu asked what Monoma was talking about, for a few minutes he didn’t reply but once he gathered an ounce of composure he finally did.

“A few nights ago Denki and Hitoshi were staying over and had to go back to the dorms so they could hang out with their friends the next day. I offered to walk them home or wait till morning, but th-they said they’d be fine walking in the da-dark….I-I made them promise to let me know when they got back, and they never did. Turns out they’ve gone missing for several d-days now and the pr-pros are trying to find them.”

“O-oh shit, Monoma I’m so sorry dude, that's awful!” Kendou sympathized, now it made sense to her, he had lost his two lovers and didn’t know if he’d ever see them again! He’s carrying the weight and blames himself.

“It wasn’t your fault man, you didn’t know this would happen, and I’m sure neither of them would blame you. No one will.”
“I just want them back, I-I want to know that they’re okay, th-that they’re al-alive.”
“The Pros will find them Monoma, just hang in there, alright.” Neito nodded while trying to wipe the poor of tears from his face, he let his two classmates comfort him. He withheld something from himself for a while now, and the weight that loomed over him felt much lighter than before.

All he could do now was hope and pray they would find them soon.

Chapter 3: chp 3

Chapter Text

Time went on, neither boy knew how long they had been in that hospital so far. Denki was holding onto hope that the heroes would save them, while Hitoshi was slowly doubting it though secretly praying for Eraser Head to come busting down their door. The experiments were daily, made to swallow pills and serums, and to solve puzzles though surprisingly nothing absolutely torturous, until now.

“Rise and shine my lil rats, I have a fun experiment for you today!” The doctor announced excitedly, Hitoshi and Denki sluggishly rose from their slumber at the sound of his voice.

“Go down to room 109, down the hall to your left, and go up the stairs it will be the first door you see.” With the orders given they climbed out of their bed and walked out the door. As always there was never an escort, Hitoshi later figured out there were hidden cameras around the place which was how the doctor knew where they were at all times.

“I wonder what’s he’s planning now?”
“More pills maybe?”
“Nah, he seemed too happy for it to be pills again.”

Making their way through the cold echoey halls and up the stairs they arrived at door 109.
Pushing the heavy dual door open they were greeted by a large medical room, a chair in the middle, and a shower-looking chamber of some sort among other things.

“Good, you’ve made it, purple-haired rat, sit in the chair. Yellow-haired rat go inside the chamber.” The doctor demanded, and hesitantly Shinsou and Kaminari did as told. As soon as Hitoshi sat down he yelped at the feeling of multiple needles jabbing their way through his flesh in numerous areas. The door to the ‘shower’ shut and made a clicking noise right upon Kaminari’s entrance.

“Now onto the experiment,” The sound of rushing water came on and Denki looked around him to see that the tank was starting to fill with water as the doctor explained.

“Yellow hair rat has 4 minutes to figure out a riddle that will allow him to get himself out of the tank. Until then the tank will fill itself to the top. While that is happening, purple over here will experience electrical shocks every 30 seconds.” Denki started to nervously pound on the glass and noticed the keypad, he would probably have to enter a code based on the riddle!

By the end of the explanation the water was already up to his ankles and getting higher, and this wasn’t a measly water spoute. The water was rushing like an overflowing dam!

“Let's begin. I have many legs, many parts, I creep and crawl but I’m no insect.” Denki could hardly hear over the sound of the water but he figured that he was talking about a spider, but what would that have to do with the code?! Then he let out a sudden noise of pain, that must’ve been the shock from how he jolted back in the chair. Shit that looked awful, he needed to figure this out!

Denki could feel the water climbing up to his knees, next up was his waist. He kept repeating the puzzle in his head what was so numerically significant about a spider? What made them different from an insect? Legs! He quickly punched in the number 8 and got a green check mark.

“The human body has many bones which of the total number is prime?” OH damn it, not math! Hitoshi could hear the riddles and there was no way he could help as he watched the tank fill. He wasn’t the best at math and he knew Denki wasn’t either. He couldn’t even figure it out himself! When another 30 seconds passed he knew it had been a solid minute as a painful shock ran through him. It made his arms and fingers twitch and burn. He grits his teeth in anticipation mentally counting to 30 just to prepare for the next shock and when it comes he hardly bit back a scream. White hot pain came from all the electrodes coursing through him. 1 minute and 30.

By the 2-minute mark, the water had reached just above his waist but the water output increased. He had finally figured out the prime number clue with it being 2 out of the 206.
He could feel his heart pounding as the water rose, it was freezing, and he could see his breath inside the tank. The next riddle was fairly simple to figure out, but the last one had him stumped.

“If you add 5 to 9, what number on the clock do you get?” At first, this looked easy it was 14! But when he keyed in the number the keypad said it was wrong, he figured he might have typed it wrong so he redid it. Still wrong, he tried 1 then 4 separately each time getting a red X. Hitoshi’s screams could be heard through the glass, it was almost gut-wrenching, he didn’t know how long it had been but the water was reaching his shoulders! The water crashing inside the tank was slowly muffling out Hitoshi’s screams but heightening Denki’s panic, it wouldn’t be long until he was underwater!

Up his neck, and chin, it was only a few more gallons maybe before his would drown him! Think think think Denki, what the fuck could be the answer. 14 isn’t it? But what’s 5 and 9 got to do with time? Time seemed to go both slowly and fast simultaneously. One second it was 3 minutes only to find out it's been 2, god knows how long it's been! Denki didn’t know how to swim let alone keep his head above water. He was never taught due to his quirk, he tried holding onto the glass and doing little jumps to keep himself up but one wrongly timed jump caused him to his head head on the ceiling of the chamber and back into the water. Taking in a gulp of water that rushed down his lungs, Denki tried to fight his body. But his efforts were fruitless as each time he’d try to force out water his body demanded air!

Hitoshi was trembling harshly as he was forced to watch his boyfriend drown. His muscles twitched and spasmed from the shocks and currents. His body moved in painful jerks, some of his limbs went numb, and some were searing with pain! He saw Denki struggle to stay above water and tried calling out to him.

“Denki! Come on! You can do it, paddle upwards!” He yelled out, there was an eerie laugh through the intercom.

“Oh, how cute you’re trying to help, well times up, and looks like the little yellow rat can’t get themselves out.” The voice taunted through the grating static of the mic.

“Let me help him!” Hitoshi demanded while attempting to move out of the chair. The long electrical pulses had caused paralysis, weakening him.

“But it was his job to help you, and he failed so this is his punishment.” Was this sicko planning on killing him?! Shinsou saw the air leave Denki’s body as the water filled the tank to completion, and his body sank to the bottom. With a sudden rush of adrenaline, Hitoshi shot out of the chair and bolted to the tank. He didn’t let the horrible stinging of the needles that lodged themselves into his skin being ripped out stop him. He pounded on the door screaming and begging for the doctor to release Denki!

Shinsou didn’t know how long he cried and pleaded for his lover to be let out. He screamed till his throat hurt, and he banged his hands against the glass until they bled. What if he died?! He couldn’t lose Denki! No they both had to get out of here alive! He couldn’t let him die!

“Please! Anything! Anything else, not this! Please!” He shook as he cried on the cold tile floor. Then there was a loud buzzing noise that echoed and the tank door opened, water rushed out in a flood and as soon as it cleared Hitoshi crawled inside to get to Denki. Cradling his cold bone-soaked body against his he prayed his lover was still alive. He tried chest compression, but he hardly had the strength to do it but he had to try!

“Come on Denki wake up! Wake up, please!” Denki’s limp body hardly moved with Shinsou’s weak attempt at reviving him but thankfully a sharp gasp and sputtering came signalling his body was still alive. Shinsou put Denki onto his side to help him cough up the water he inhaled in the take, mouthful after mouthful after mouthful, it just kept coming! Though he was happy to know he was alive.

“Good job you saved the yellow rat, now, be a good lil rat and go back to your room.” Hitoshi took this as a sign that he could take Denki back to their room but was quickly told to put him down.

“Wh-why?” He inquired,

“This is his punishment for failing. You said anything, didn’t you? So i let him out early, as a trade for a different kind of punishment.” Hitoshi didn’t want to put him down but he wasn’t going to disobey his captor in case they decided to change their mind and do something harsher. He didn’t even know what the new punishment would be he just hoped it wouldn’t be anything to horrific.

Taking himself back to their room he wondered what the punishment would be, but he soon found out. Isolation. The doctor figured that separating them would be best, even though it didn’t seem to be so bad by the sounds of it. Neither of them would be physically harmed, being all alone in a cold white room with nothing but their thoughts and the pills they were being given. Hitoshi hardly slept anymore, his mind wandering to the possibility of escape or whether they’d die in this place. Would anyone actually come to rescue them? Did everyone think they were dead by now? Did anyone even start looking? Neito is probably sobbing himself to sleep or taking it out on others. Aizawa, knowing him he’d be running himself into the ground to find him and Denki. If there was one thing Aizawa was it was caring, even if he wasn’t the most open about it, he would never let a student of his just go missing let alone his son.

Alone in a dim white room, Denki had woken up shaking and coughing up water. Since he had been informed of his punishment, it slowly drove him into a downward spiral. He had nightmares and flash memories of being locked in that tank and seeing Hitoshi go through shock treatment as he struggled to free himself. The only thing he was given was food, and they started giving him meat, at first he was confused but he didn’t decline after days of starvation.
When you’re stuck in a white room with nothing but yourself, your mind begins to make its own…entertainment to cope. The fake scenarios he would make of Hitoshi and Neito being there with him living a normal life twisted into hallucinations of Hitoshi leaving unwanted rough kisses and touches all over his body. When he would sleep he would dream of cuddling up in his nice warm bed between his two lovely boys that dream would slowly morph into the realities he was sitting in.

He half convinced himself this was all a horrible nightmare that he would wake up from soon. They both did, and Denki clung to hope desperately. Hitoshi wished he was as hopeful as him.

As if this isolation wasn’t already enough, Hitoshi had been having these awful nightmares and this final one set him over the edge!

He woke up in a surgical room, a bright overhead light blinding him. As his eyes adjusted slowly a blur of yellow moved in his vision. He tried to move his hands but he couldn’t something was tying him down and his body felt heavy. A heavy smell of iron and copper was in the air. With his eyelids being heavy his blinks took much longer but finally, his sight cleared and he saw Denki with a scalpel blade in hand. What was he doing with that? He tried to open his mouth but found himself unable to, not only would it open but it felt as if something was in his mouth. Then it clicked, and the realization of what was happening hit him. Denki was operating on him and he had woken up during the surgery! There wasn’t anything he could do but lie here and watch his boyfriend operate on him! He didn’t even know what part of him he was messing around with, his bodily sensation was hardly there. It was like he was paralyzed, only able to observe with a limited view, and the quietness made it worse.

Denki was wearing a headset that seemed to be giving him instructions on what he was doing cause there was no way he was doing this on his own! There was no way what he was doing to him at all was real! He wasn’t lying here on a surgical table with his boyfriend looming over his unmoving body that was possibly being cut open like a fish! He definitely didn’t see Denki put something in a jar and set it to the side. He wasn’t trapped in some abandoned hospital! He was just dreaming! Just dreaming! Just a god-awful fucking nightmare!

Then he woke up.
Gasping for air like he had been holding his breath for ages, he looked around the room, he saw Denki lying beside him. Though when he opened his mouth to speak no sound came out….He tried again, but he was met with burning pain in his throat which he grabbed and felt bandages. Alarm bells went off in his head, why couldn’t he speak!? He tried and tried and tried, but only hoarse whispers and squeaks would come out. Panic set in, what had they done to him?! Why did his throat hurt, was he still dreaming? Did they take his voice!?

Denki stirred from his sleep to see Hitoshi frantically holding his throat and attempting to make a sound. His nails were desperately clawing and digging into the sides with his eyes wide. Denki hurriedly pulled Hitoshi into his chest and blocked his hands from his neck shushing him.

“Shhh shh shh, don’t try to talk, I know you are scared, but don’t try to talk.” Denki’s voice was soft yet filled with sorrow and hints of guilt. Hitoshi at first ignored this but eventually stopped trying and stayed facing his chest.

“I-I’m sorry Hitoshi, I didn’t want to do this….” So that nightmare was real? Denki had performed surgery on him!

“Your voice box is damaged, not taken out entirely but damaged.” Without his voice, he couldn’t speak he couldn’t communicate! He couldn’t use his quirk! Even with the quirk canceling drugs they put inside them, without his voice, he wouldn’t be able to use his quirk even if they gave it back. He was essentially quirkless! Sure in the past he despised his power but he was just now starting to love it, he had learned to love it. Shouta had been the one to help him do that, and now all of his progress had been stolen from him. The very thing he worked so hard for was literally ripped out of him! He wanted to scream the urge to do so erupted out of him and all he could do was tightly hold onto Denki with his mouth dropped wide as he screamed in his mind while tears fell.

Chapter 4: chp4

Chapter Text

“I can’t believe they found out already” Shouta grumbled as he walked into the teacher's lounge and plopped himself down on the couch.

“The other parents aren’t handling this well, not that I blame them with the tract record we already have.” Commented Nezu as he sipped on his tea, Shouta rolled his eyes, of course he couldn’t blame them he was also a parent who was being affected by this! The thing that pissed him off the most was that some people tried to discredit him when he told the parents he understood their worries since most didn’t know Hitoshi was his son. Adopted or not he loved that boy like he was his own flesh and blood and it kept him up for hours that his son was not safe and was possibly dead. He didn’t want to think that far, he never wanted to think that far but he knew it was a possibility and he hated it.

He’d just spoken with a large group of media and journalists who were sticking their noses where they didn’t belong. Poking and prodding him with question after question after question! Many tried to ask if they had any suspects like the LOV but Shouta wasn’t going to reveal any information that they could run with. He gave them the bare minimum and of course many parents were starting to consider pulling their children, especially those from the hero course. It had been a month and a half of this hell and Shouta was ready to pack up his car and go rogue in order to find Hitoshi and Denki. Though he was also one more “you don’t understand our pain, you are not a parent” from dropping to his knees and crying.

“I truly am sorry Shouta, I know this is a huge weight for you…” Shouta huffed and just put his head between his knees to take some deep breaths. He had to keep going, he promised Eri he would bring Hitoshi home! He promised Neito he would bring the boys back. He promised himself he would not give up.

The only thing they had gotten was that large spatter of blood, now some tire tracks, but nothing else. No clue, no hints as to who or what could have taken them. They knew that the LOV wasn’t it, they may have a car but they don’t exactly just go kidnapping off the streets like that with a van. He’d been around long enough to know that wasn’t their style.

Day and night he thought about this case, there wasn’t a moment that he didn’t feel sick in the stomach from it. Looking through the class to see that Hitoshi and Denki’s desks were empty were a cold reminder. And the kids weren’t taking it well either, many wanted to help but they didn’t do so how they usually would this time. They didn’t charge head first, he was surprised they hadn’t rushed out the door to search! Instead, they offered support, they offered themselves, they offered their help but never pushed. He hated getting them involved but he was becoming desperate. It's no secret anymore that their classmates are missing. The public knows, the parents know the school knows, and he couldn’t bring himself to ask for their help. They had already gone through so much and there was only more to come and the least he could do as their teacher was to spare them this case. The supposed bakusquad was downright depressing, they were quiet, of course, Katsuki was hostile but it didn’t feel intentional more misdirected. Kirishima was the one trying to keep his little group of friends afloat. The so-called ‘dekusquad’ was the group that Hitoshi gravitated towards, they made sure he was never forgotten in their hang-out plans. Now they hardly went out.

He couldn’t give up! Not now, not ever!

“Ah shit my phone” He sighed reaching for his back pocket to pull out his buzzing phone, it was the detective.

“Hello”
“Ey Shouta, I got some news we’ve caught wind of a doctor who had been fired for malpractice due to a tract record of holding kids in hospital longer…I know it's a stretch but I’m gonna look into it.” This was news even if it didn’t make sense to the case at first it was something, it was a direction, and Shouta would take it.

“Alright, keep me posted!” Hanging up the phone. A shred of hope had finally fallen into his lap, he wouldn’t cling to it but it was something to look towards. He had been doing his best to keep Mei and Ayato updated, they wanted to help with the investigation but the most they could do was gather some detectives add them to team Shouta, and grant them money. Freeing up their schedule wasn’t easy for them and Shouta understood that. Missing poster signs had been put up for the boys as well in case anyone had any clue as to their whereabouts.

At least today he would get a break, he promised to take Eri out to her favorite places today. They were still working on socializing her properly and ever since Hitoshi disappeared it had caused a major set back in her progress. The two children had grown close, Hitoshi had been the one to relate to her and guide her like a brother. Introducing her to things, and helping her figure out her likes and dislikes. He would often take her out when Hizashi and Shouta were busy with work or help her with homework since she had been enrolled in school.

Now according to her teacher, she had backslided badly. Completely shying away from her peers, she had stopped talking or asking for help on assignments, spacing out, or having small crying fits in the bathroom. Sometimes she would sneak Hitoshi’s hoodie into her bookbag and sleep with it like a blanket during nap time, now she refused to part with it.

It broke his heart when he heard this, he knew it be tough on her but he didn’t expect it to be this bad. He hoped this outing would cheer her up in some way. He went to her school to pick her up early, stopping by her classroom to get her. Eri looked a little surprised to see him at the door, even though he told her he would come, excitement still arose. She ran with her book bag over to him and left the school.

“Alright kiddo, did you decide on where we’re gonna go to first?” Eri nodded as she held onto Shouta’s hand.

“Can we go to the cat cafe?” She asked shyly, Shouta chuckled at this the cat cafe was their favorite place to go to, and all of them loved it including Hizashi and Hitoshi.

“Of course we can, I bet you Buttercup is still there!” Buttercup was a cat that seemed to love Eri and Hitoshi and would always wonder over when they’d come to the shop. This brought a smile to the child’s gloomy face which made Shouta happy, it always did. He couldn’t stand to see her sad. He noticed her carrying Hitoshi’s jacket in her other hand all folded like a package though he didn’t mention it. He would not take it from her, it was her main source of comfort and it was clear she needed it. That jacket was probably the only reason she’d sleep at night.

Arriving at the cafe, Shouta got them seated, and just as usual a light caramel-colored cat made their way over to their table and shimmied into Eri’s lap. She giggled and stroked the cat happily.

“Hi buttercup, I missed you, but we’re back now!” Buttercup nestled and nuzzled into the little girl, rolling around on her lap and exposing her belly as a show of trust. Eri giggled and grinned at the cat’s antics. Shouta smiled fondly watching his daughter interact, it warmed his heart to see this. When a waitress came by to take their orders, they ordered their usual things. Eri waited till the waitress was gone to ask a question.

“D-Dad….i-is Hitoshi dead?” Shouta almost choked on his spit at that question, he didn’t expect her to ask it. Of course, she knew about life and death and he understood where her concerns came from, but that didn’t make it any less sad.

“W-well um, I’d like to hope not sweetheart, i-I know it's a possibility but I’m hoping that isn’t the case.”
“You guys don’t know where he is do you?” Shouta sighed and shook his head, he didn’t want to lie to her but he didn’t want her to think he would give up.

“I’m gonna keep looking, sweetheart, we’re gonna find him.” Eri nodded while still playing with the cat.

“When you bring him home he can see Buttercup again!” Shouta gave a soft laugh and nodded at this.

“I’m sure he’ll be happy to see her and you!” They spent the day enjoying their time in the cat cafe, having sweet drinks and treats as well as playing with the cats. Shouta was just happy to see his little girl smiling again. He did manage to snap a few pictures of her and sent them to Hizashi who he knew would love the pictures. The rest of the day was spent at the park and an ice cream shop until Eri got tired. Shouta carried her home where he saw Hizashi finishing up with the cleaning.

“Oh you’re back how was your day?” Hizashi asked, Shouta gestured for him to lower his voice and Hizashi understood.

“It went well, she had a lot of fun, as you saw I took her to the cat cafe she loves and of course Buttercup came over. Then to the park, got ice cream and now we’re home.” Hizashi gave Shouta the space to put Eri to bed before coming up and giving him a loving kiss.

“I know earlier was rough for you.” Shouta nodded as he leaned into his husband, Hizashi wrapped his arms around him and pulled him close.

“I’m proud of you though, you held up better than I would have done.” Shouta knew that was true, if Hizashi had been the one to take on the main interview with the press and parents he would have broken down easily. Shouta was used to people who would say harsh things to him and so it would take a lot to get to him. Though there were genuine times when it was too much. Hearing that Hizashi was proud of him did make him feel better in some sense. Hizashi obviously missed their son just as much as Shouta. It was clear in how his energy levels dropped, how he’d stand on the threshold of Hitoshi’s room. Sometimes he would cry sometimes not.

Guilt, something that currently swallowed Mei and Ayato whole. With their busy work schedule preventing them from being much help in finding Denki, their mental health tanked. They often blamed themselves for his disappearance. Maybe if they had learned to settle down and put some time aside to spend with their son, this wouldn’t be happening. Maybe if they buckled down as parents in the beginning, Denki would still be here. Their parent-son relationship was more like roommates than anything. They were hardly home, either out doing hero work, working with sponsors, or partying. When they were home they did not even bother to check up on Denki, most times they didn’t even know when he was or wasn’t home before the dorms were built. They didn’t even know their son’s favorite color and hardly knew that Denki had two partners. They thought this hands-off approach was fine, Denki was extremely self-sufficient, he could cook and clean and take care of himself, all they had to do was provide him with money!
Now that they had taken a step back from their work realization had hit them like a million-ton truck. Even if Denki’s kidnapping was not directly their fault, they still felt responsible in some ways. Hell when Neito’s grandmother had stopped by to speak with them, it took them a minute to remember that Neito was Denki’s boyfriend. What sort of parent can’t even remember that their kid is dating a person let alone two people?!

Slowly but surely they started to shut themselves off from everyone. There were times Ayato would come home to find Mei sobbing on the floor in their bedroom holding one of the few pictures they had of their son to her chest. The way she sounded when she cried shook Ayato to his core, it was like a guttural scream that came from the depths of her soul that held onto the hurt of missing their child. Ayato used alcohol to numb the pain, he may not be out drinking with his buddies but nothing like being rich and always keeping a cooler full of cold ones in the house to make him feel better. Truth be told it never felt better, he just felt empty. And often found himself sitting on the cold wood floor of the downstairs bar in their house with a beer in hand and tears running down his face.

(Change of pov)

Ever since the surgery their relationship had suffered greatly. Hitoshi knew that Denki was only following orders but he couldn’t get over that he was the one to take his voice from him. Denki was the one with the scalpel in hand, the one standing over his body, the one cutting into his flesh. The one who stole his voice. The doctor used that to his advantage, he saw Hitoshi’s pain and encouraged with encouraged it through a game. Encouraged him to make Denki feel the pain he felt when waking up to the horrors he saw but could not stop. He took away Denki’s sanity and safety. Those lovely hands that would caress his cheeks and gently push away his hair, gripped his throat in an almost crushing way. Those soft lips Denki loved so much kissed and branded rough and harsh bites into him. That skilled mind of his that Denki encouraged to share freely every thought it had came up with ways that would make Denki scream and cry in agony. From unwanted affection to taring at his flesh, Hitoshi made sure that it hurt. He made sure he was screaming until he no longer could just like him….

Then the anger would subside and now Hitoshi had to face the damage he had done. He saw the unadulterated terror in Denki’s eyes when he hovered above him. He felt every shiver, shudder, and shake from the blond. Denki had put up a fight but was overpowered by whatever drug Hitoshi had been given. Not that Hitoshi was weak before yet he had never felt so small and helpless. Instead of being put in the isolation room again Denki and Hitoshi were now together again, but this time they knew it wasn’t for their own happiness. This was no reward, this was for sick entertainment. Neither of them could see each other the same. Sleeping in the same bed was like a cruel punishment oftentimes causing one of them to sleep on the floor. Neither one saw the other as their partner nor a human being by this point.

“Rise and shine my little lab rats, I have an exciting experiment planned for today that I’m sure you’ll enjoy!” Once again rising from their sleep to the sound of the doctor’s grating voice.

“Come down to the lowest level.” He said nothing else to give them any implication as to what they were getting into. They could tell this would be something big with how happy the doctor sounded. He had mentioned in passing that there was something major he was planning but never said anything more than that. As they walked down to the lower levels Denki and Hitoshi kept their distance. One out of fear and the other out of guilt. It's not like Hitoshi could tell Denki he was sorry, and he was sure the other wouldn’t believe him or forgive him. Ever since the anger of what Denki had done to him left he felt terrible for his retaliation. What he did would border on sexual assault and physical torture. Was he upset that Denki had been the one to damage his voice leaving him unable to speak? Yes, very but deep down he knew Denki was only doing as told by their captor.

Making it down to the lowest level they entered what looked to be a large laboratory. A surgical table in the middle with large drawers, against the walls were three large cylindrical tanks with wires and tubes inside them. Denki immediately grew anxious at the sight of the tanks, they reminded him of the water chamber experiment. Shinsou noticed Kaminari take a few steps back and hesitantly brought him closer giving him a gentle look.

“Oh don’t be afraid little rats, just step inside the tanks, it will only hurt for a little while.” They each took one, one to the left and one to the right, leaving the center one empty. Upon entering the tubes buried themselves into their skin with large needles and a mask gas mask connected to a tube at the top of the tank was placed over their nose and mouths. Once the mask was attached a mint-scented gas began to fill their lungs, their eyelids became heavy and their minds slowly melted sluggishly as if they were struggling to stay awake. Right before they were officially asleep the doctor made his appearance before them with a wide grin on his face. A tall older gentleman, dressed in doctor’s attire with greying brown hair

Quiet, they woke up to quietness, the only sound was a muddled echoing noise. Eyes fluttered open slowly, space was dimly lit, and their limbs were heavy and hard to move as if they were stuck in some sort of gelatinous fluid.

“Where am I?” Kaminari thought trying to look around, his memories were fuzzy and the view wasn’t great, The fluid he was in was too thick to see through well enough nor move. Then a soft groan sounded and Shinsou’s voice echoed, wait why was he hearing Shinsou’s voice in his mind?

“What happened?” Kaminari flinched away but his physical body didn’t move.

“Wh-why are you in my head?!” He asked apprehensive, then he got what seemed to be a mental image of his boyfriend waking up from sleep.

“What do you mean in your head?”

“These are my thoughts, I’m not physically talking to you!” Then Shinsou paused and looked at Kaminari.

“You’re joking, this is a dream probably.”
“Yeah, this better be-” Through the blur of fluid and foggy eyes something was coming toward them getting closer and closer. Finally, it was right in front of them, although the image was distorted Denki could see that this was another person in front of him. A tall person stood right in front of them almost in admiration their words muffled.

“You’re alive” Was the main thing that could be heard, what did that mean ‘you’re alive’? Denki tried to move his hand through the thick honey-like material and slowly brought it to the glass. The person on the other side matched their hand to his and smiled, pulled something over their face, and started to mess with something. Suddenly a buzzing noise sounded alerting the two that something was happening.

“What’s going on?” Asked Shinsou
“I don’t know, this person is doing something.”
“Could it be the doctor?”
“Maybe, I hope he lets us out.”
“Yeah and maybe get me out of your head?” Shinsou retorted annoyedly, Denki didn’t give a response trying to focus on what was happening around them. The liquid in the tank slowly began to drain lower and lower until it was gone down the drain. The hooks, needles, monitors, and mask detached themselves from them and the door opened. As soon as their feet touched the ground Denki lost balance, his legs did not feel like his own, and his body did not listen when he tried to move. Before they could hit the ground something caught them and lifted them up and a deep grave voice cackled.

“Easy now my little creature, it's going to be a while before you’re fully up and running.” Creature?

“Damn and I thought being called a rat was rude”
“Mhm”

The owner of the voice carried them over to a medical table and set them down, as their vision adjusted they could make out his features better. An older man with grayish brown hair that reached the back of his neck, and grey eyes. He had a medical mask covering the lower half of his face with his beard pushing out the sides of it while adorning doctor’s attire. The man began to lift up, and examine their body parts with a happy brightness in his eyes.

“Two sets of arms, a longer torso and legs, wow your skin turned out perfect, and your eyes are beautiful. You are a work of art, my little creature!”

“Wait what?!” Shinsou said internally, their eyes shifting down to see the two sets of long arms. The top set was placed normally connecting at the shoulder, the neck, and back. The second set was connected at the back. Denki and Shinsou were surprised to see they still only had one pair of legs but wait why were they both looking down at the same body?

Denki tried to talk but quickly found that wasn’t an option as a horrible pain twinged in his throat. Grimacing he couldn’t even grab his throat due to a lack of arm coordination.

“Careful little creature, no need to speak, I’m just admiring the beauty that is your body! Oh, I can’t wait to test out your quirk!” The doctor beamed excitedly while grabbing a pen light and a tongue compressor and forcing their mouth open to look down their throat. The doctor fulfilled a head-to-toe examination of the body while Denki and Hitoshi were still internally trying to piece everything together right until-

“I can’t believe you two fused too well and easily!” Fused?!

“D-did he say fused together!?”
“Ye-yeah, does that mean we’re sharing a body?”
“No fucking way, y-you can’t actually do that, right? You can’t put two physical bodies into one! That’s only in movies!”
“Then how the fuck are we talking to each other?”
“Mind space maybe? Still, this has to be a dream, one of us is dreaming! This can’t be real.”
“We better wake up soon!”
“Yeah I can’t be stuck in here with you” Shinsou shot Denki a glare and hissed out
“And what is that supposed to mean?” Denki rolled his eyes and wrapped his arms around himself.

“You know what I mean, I shouldn’t have to explain what you did.” Hitoshi sneered and started charging toward him jabbing a finger in his direction.

“What I did to you! Don’t play fucking innocently like you didn’t rip out my throat while I was awake!”
“I said I was sorry, and it's not like it was my idea!” Denki protested while backing away, but Shinsou continued.

“If it weren’t for you thinking going out at 1 in the fucking morning was a good idea, we wouldn’t be in this fucking mess and I would still have my fucking quirk. But no, you selfish impulsive asshole just had to ignore Neito, now look where we fucking are!” Hitoshi growled out towering over the blond and cornering him in the void of their mind.

“If you weren’t so fucking dumb to figure out a simple fucking puzzle he wouldn’t have ‘made’ you do all that shit-” Something in Denki snapped and suddenly Hitoshi was an awful pain in his wrist and hand. He looked to see Denki had sunk his teeth into it, drops of blood fell slowly. Shinsou let out a yelp and pushed Denki off while cradling his hand to his chest.

“WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT FOR?!”

“To make you shut up!” Denki whimpered out, something in him wanted to do it again though, the small amount of blood he had gotten into his mouth had him craving more and wow did sinking his teeth into flesh feel good. Not now no no no! No stop it!

“You heard the fucking puzzle, did you know what the damn answer was? No! Did I ask to be locked in a tank full of water or for you to get electrocuted? No. I’m sorry that I’m such a fucking selfish idiot of a boyfriend but at least I didn’t beat and sexually assault you and act like it didn’t happen!” Denki started to choke on his words as he yelled back.

“I-I get it I’m terrible! I know! Bu-but don’t sit there like you didn’t do something horrible to me in return! I didn’t ask for that and you never apologized.” Hitoshi knew Denki was right, they had both done awful things to each other, almost completely out of their own control. Done at the orders of that doctor! Reaching out towards Denki with his other hand he tried to apologize.

“D-Denki I’m s-so-”
“Save it asshole, you don’t fucking mean it.” Denki snapped back with a slight growl in his voice, Hitoshi withdrew from him and walked off to a separate part of their mind space. Great, stuck in a body with his boyfriend who hates him now, just what they needed! The days went on where they were kept locked away in the laboratory but this time in a cage with a muzzle strapped to their face. The muzzle was only taken off when they were allowed to eat and the food they were given was questionable, it always consisted of some different meats of sorts, some of it seemed like jerky or pork but had a slightly off taste to it. It's not like they could question it. The doctor would poke and prob and put them through tests, feed them pills, and inject them with serums.

Trying to get along while in this body was hard, they were still grappling with the fact they were fused together with possibly no way of being separated and trapped in a mind space. There were many many internal fights and tears. Neither could bring themselves to apologize to one another. They kept their distance which made learning this body harder. Learning to walk again was frustrating, and they couldn’t even talk. Not to mention the punishments were cruel. The doctor would withhold food and water from them, force a knockout drug into them, or hit them. Treating them like an animal, like some sort of beast to tame and train.

This investigation had been long, grueling, and draining in every way possible. Not only did the thought of never being able to find the boys haunt Shouta but the school board and officials were going to threaten to shut down the school if Shouta couldn’t bring them home. So everything was riding on his shoulders! Then a light at the end of the tunnel appeared.

“Shouta, I have the best news of your life!” Said the detective, Shouta furrowed his brows as he answered the phone.

“What is it, detective?”
“We may have found the boys!” Shouta almost bit his tongue and told the detective not to joke around.
“No Shouta I’m serious! We’ve been given some information by a vigilante who was patrolling an area and followed a man -who has been reported for suspicious activity for a while now- and followed him to some sort of run-down hospital of sorts. They managed to get a picture and it matches one of the recent malpractice cases” Shouta was standing in his kitchen shakily holding onto his mug of tea. He couldn’t believe it, they were actually going to find Denki and Hitoshi! Shouta had to blink multiple times to make sure he wasn’t dreaming, a little too consumed in thought to fully listen until he heard.

“You okay there Shouta?” Shaking his head and blinking a few times he nodded at no one in particular.

“Yes yes, I’m just in shock is all.”
“Honestly I am too, so what’s the plan?” Shit right…The plan, Shouta knew he was gonna have to do something he didn’t want to do but it had to be done.

“Send me the location and I’ll have a team ready by tomorrow night.” He then created a group chat after he hung up with 5 students and a few pro heroes whom he could trust to be on this case. He then sent out an email that classes would be canceled and to stay in the dorms for precautionary sake. With a heavy sigh, Shouta took a long gulp of his tea as he leaned against the countertop in his kitchen. He wouldn’t be getting an ounce of sleep that night.

Chapter 6: chp 6

Chapter Text

When Neito got the text that he would be in the main rescue group he felt his heart skip a beat. That meant they found Hitoshi and Denki! That meant they were alive! Of course, he was overjoyed by this but as time got closer to needing to meet up he could feel the nervousness set in. What if by the time they got there something horrible had happened? What if their plan went wrong? What if the captor figured it out and killed them before they could get the chance? What if this was the wrong place!?

The entire ride in the back seat of the rescue van his mind raced with ‘what if’ questions but it was too late to go back now. And he couldn’t just chicken out because he was scared even if there was time! He wanted to be a pro hero, he was gonna have to swallow his fear. He couldn’t let his boyfriends down, he had to try!

“We’re here!” Announced the driver, hopping out of the van Monoma stayed close to his group. His group consisted of Shouta, Todoroki, Midoriya, Bakugou, and Yaoyorozu. The second group was Midnight, Lazer Tag, Energizer, and Best Jeanist. Both groups would be entering in two different ways, Monoma’s group would take a lower back entrance a vigilante had mentioned finding. Midnight’s group would take a higher entrance. Walking up to the building showed just how tall yet old it was, with cracks and vines of greenery running up and down the sides in clusters. Windows were smashed in or boarded up, the area was dark and surrounded by trees that only shielded the building from the natural sun more.

Getting to the back door emergency exit, Shouta radioed Midnight’s group to let them know they’d be entering. Upon entering the inside was much just as bad as the outside. The walls were a cold dingy white with holes and dents. They weren’t too surprised to see bloody hand prints dried into the walls. Their footsteps shuffled and echoed along the tile floor as they searched around.

“This looks like the middle floor, I think we’re gonna have to go lower” Suggested Momo as they peered into many empty hospital rooms, Shouta nodded in agreement and cautiously led them around. Tasking them with finding the stairs since they knew the elevator wouldn’t be in use. Monoma had only been in this building for a few minutes he couldn’t imagine what it was like to be here for months! Midoriya was the one to find the set of stairs, Shouta volunteered to guard the stairs as they ventured further. Shouta didn’t want to leave them but he also knew it would be best for someone to guard the main entrance in case anything or anything spotted them.

Hustling down the stairs they figured that it went straight down, not many rooms to check, surprisingly this was uneventful. This place was huge and there wasn’t any guard or obstacle to get through- A loud buzzer sounded and a voice on the overheadspeaker came through.

“Looks like we have guests who’ve snuck in, my my my, you work quickly.” The gravely voice laughed, and the teen group paused and looked around to see an overhead speaker.

“You’re probably wondering why there aren’t any guards or security to stop you, well that's because I don’t need them. Though I would love to see how well you handle my quirk, good luck little rats~” As soon as the message stopped a rumbling sensation began to shake the building, the kids weren’t going to stop to figure out his quirk and continued to hurry down the stairs. Midnight then came on the radio.

“Kids, I’m looking at a map of the place and there’s a laboratory at the lowest level, head down there and see if you can find Shinsou and Kaminari. If you run into trouble this is me now giving you permission to do what you have to do.”

“Got it Miss Midnight!” Answered Momo, all of a sudden the stairs became a steep slope causing them to slide down at an increasing rate! It was a blur until they reached the bottom almost crashing into a door that transformed itself into a wall. Katsuki fired his quirk just in time blasting it open to keep them from crashing and softening their landing.

“You kids alright?” Asked Shouta through the walkie-talkie.

“Yeah, the staircase almost got us but we made it!” Informed Midoriya, the group looked around seeing lots of laboratory equipment start to come alive. Wires and cords slithered toward them like snakes, and a set of syringes darted at them only to be stopped by a thick wall of ice Shouto quickly made.

“Is this guy able to make this place come alive?!” Monoma looked down standing on his tiptoes doing his best to avoid any loose cords that could try to tangle him up. The lights flickered weakly as they searched around. Monoma started to lose hope in finding his boyfriends as they looked around and got around traps. Monoma managed to get ahead of the group and wandered into a side room where he saw a tall lanky figure with four arms that were chained down. Clicking on his flashlight revealed this figure wearing a muzzle and tattered hospital clothes. Their hair was seemingly a dark dirty purple color. Monoma stepped closer calling out to the person, this guy didn’t look like either of his boyfriends. There was a soft groaning noise as the person moved lazily, struggling to sit up, their eyes opened and confused Monoma. The ends of their hair had a dingy gold to them and their eyes were a mix of purple and gold almost in a swirl pattern!

“H-hey there,” Monoma greeted cautiously, the person let out a low growl making the blond flinch.

“I-I’m here to help, m-my name’s Phantom Thief, I’m with some pro heroes.” The person’s expression darkened and they attempted to lung towards Neito, the chains rattled as the person swiped at him like a clawed feral cat. Neito stumbles back and screams throwing his flashlight at their head. The person sneered at Neito until the flashlight spun around illuminating his face and the person’s eyes softened. Neito scurried backward as the chains rustled and clattered. Then a voice that made Neito’s entire being shudder came out.

“D-don’t Run!” The person’s voice sounded like two voices put into a distorted autotune mic, but this confused Neito who stopped moving. He looked back at the person with furrowed brows, he was here to find Denki and Hitoshi, who was this other person? They’d only received two missing people reports and no one else was inside. Something was off and those eyes looked too familiar.

“Wh-whats your name?” Neito asked, the person tried to open their mouth to speak but barely a sound came out. Neito rose to his feet and began to look around, the person was curious as to what he was doing but all Neito said was.

“I need to know who you are, don’t hurt me or I can’t help you.” Pushing around a filing cabinet he found a file that made his blood freeze.

Project file: 000091

Participants: Denki Kaminari & Hitoshi Shinsou

Ages: 16

Quirks: Electricity & brainwashing

Goal: fusion
Skiming through the files Neito looked down warily at the being chained on the floor and he started to put the pieces together. His boyfriends had been fused together into one body! Going back to them he knelt down and they flinched making a small whimpering noise similar to a puppy. Neito held up his hands defensively.

“I’m not gonna hurt you, I just wanna check someone….. Denki, Hitoshi, it's me Neito, I don’t know if you remember me, but I’m gonna get you out.” There was a strangled noise that came from them but their eyes opened a little more when he called their names. Neito looked around for something to break their restraints but he couldn’t trust that nothing he grabbed would come alive.

“Yaoyorozu, I need a strong hammer!” He called out, Momo yelled out.

“A little busy Monoma, have you found them?”
“Yeah! But they’re chained up, do you guys need help?” He said coming back around the corner, they were fighting off many parts of the room that seemed to become sentient and moveable.

“No we’re buying you time, tag me, and we’ll cover you!” Said Momo as she fought off what looked to be a large medical toolbox that had grown teeth. Monoma knew he was gonna have to be fast if he was going to get to Momo and back to the boys. He almost held his breath as he snuck over in the hopes he wouldn’t spotted until he got back. Materialized a hammer he smashed the chains holding them.
They collapsed to the ground, their movements were almost like a newborn deer, clumsy and disoriented. Without much thought, Neito scooped them up making them promise not to hurt him.

“I’m gonna get you outta here, just hang on and don’t claw at me.” They didn’t say a word and Neito ran out to the main part of the laboratory.

“I got them!” He announced the group looked at him as they took down the last of any sentient equipment.

“Alright let's go!” heading back to the staircase they were still met with a steep slide, Shouto took the lead and used his ice to make a temporary staircase. Hustling up the makeshift stairs, one of them radioed for the teacher to know they had found Denki and Hitoshi and were heading up. Making it back to the top floor they started on they headed for the exit. Meeting back up with Aizawa who had managed to take down his own set of obstacles.

“We got’em Aizawa!” Shouta turned to look at his students with a nod and led them out of the building to meet up with Midnight’s group who looked disappointed.

“Did you get the guy?” Asked Aizawa, Midnight shook her head with her arms folded.

“No bastard managed to escape before we could get to him.” Shouta sighed as they loaded into the van. Seeing the van seemed to freak Shinsou and Denki out, squirming and flailing making some sort of distressing noise in Neito's hold.

“Hey hey it's okay, we’re taking you to a hospital, everything’s gonna be okay.” He placed them in the back seat of the van and sat with them when one of the pros pointed it out.

“Hey wait I thought we were rescuing two kids, what happened?”
“That weird captor guy fused them together into one body, so we did rescue both of them, they’re just in this one body.”
“How do you know that?” Neito reached into his back pocket pulled out the file and handed it to the adults, Shouta took it and looked horrified.

“Let's get them to a hospital now, no telling what shit he’s done to them.”

The drive to the hospital was quiet and suspenseful, Denki and Hitoshi were still hostile, even in their frail state. They had curled themselves up and glared hard like a predator sizing up their prey. Neito eased himself back from them nervously, he was glad they had a muzzle on, it meant they couldn't bite in and from the looks of it, they didn’t know how to move on their own very well. That still didn’t calm his nerves, he could see their set of sharp canines, eyes dead with an unreadable glint. They were much bigger than either of the boy’s natural height, and their limbs were longer.

But deep down Neito knew his boys were still in there, he wanted to believe that they were still there. They weren’t just some lab experiment, they weren’t an animal even if they acted like one. Hesitantly Neito held out his hand towards them like how you would a dog, they flinched and attempted to bite making Neito pull back but he noticed fear in their movements. His eyes softened at them, he started to feel bad for being so jumpy around them.

Arriving at the hospital Neito was the only one allowed to carry them in since neither boy would let the others do it. Aizawa guided Neito up to the front desk and gave a partial explanation that they had found the missing boys and needed to be checked out. They were sent to a curtain room and a small team gathered. Neito tried to set them down but with their limited ability, they held onto his shirt for dear life.

“Come on, I gotta put you down so you can be checked, I promise they will not hurt you.” It took a lot of coaxing for them to let go and lay on the bed.

“So what happened?” Asked the doctor, Shouta handed over the file Neito had shown him and the doctor gave a similar expression to Shouta.

“Wow alright, we’re gonna have to do a lot of testing. It's gonna be a while, likely going to have to stay a few days. Do they respond by name?” Neito shrugged

“Sort of, they aren’t able to speak very well, I don’t know if it's because of the muzzle or if its because they don’t know how, they can hardly get out two words. But they can understand you.” The doctor nodded back and began the exam, Denki and Shinsou looked like they wanted to run away but knew they couldn’t. Each time a nurse came over to them they would let out an almost animalistic noise and squirm. Just putting the heart monitors put them in distress!

Neito and Shouta were the main ones to stay with them. Shouta texted Hizashi everything and kept him updated, he was just glad to have found his son and student finally. Fused or not at this point he would worry about that later, all that mattered was they were safe. In the bright lighting of the hospital, they got a better look at them. They truly were a fusion of Denki and Hitoshi. Purple and golden eyes in a swirled pattern were sort of hypnotic in a way. Their eye shape was similar to Hitoshi’s while they had Denki’s freckles and the lightning bolt could be seen in their dirt mess of lavender and blond. When the muzzle was taken off there was a worry of them trying to bite others but surprisingly they did better than expected. However, Aizawa could see the pain, fear, and torment in their eyes.

After hours of poking, prodding, scans, testing, and tears the doctor came back. This time Lazer Tag and Energizer were invited to the room since they were Denki’s parents.

“So I have the results from the labs, medically, there are several drugs that are in their system that we will try to rid of as soon as possible. A quirk tranquilizer is the main one as well as a level of consciousness stunting drug and something making them on edge. We’ve also found an increase of iron in their blood and traces of things that would show up for someone who’s ingested large amounts of human remains while also being malnourished.”

“D-do you mean they ate a person?” Asked Lazer Tag, the doctor nodded and continued.

“Moving on there are multiple fractures that are strangely healed, they healed well but that's the strange part. Many cracks and breaks along their ribs, arms, and skull. They didn’t heal perfectly but well enough to concern me. I will say I did find a microchip behind their ear which was removed, but there’s more.” More? How much more!

“The reason they are having trouble speaking isn’t just a cognitive thing or coordination, it looks like someone performed surgery on their throat to either remove or damage their voice box. I had one of my nurses look through the file and she found some information on it. The boy named Hitoshi had undergone what was supposed to be a voice box removal surgery while he was there before their fusion. We took a look inside with a scope and they have a voice box, it is damaged though slowly healing, still damaged.”

“Wait wait hold on,” Ayato interrupted

“So you’re saying our son was medically combined with another kid, and just by some magic, the injuries are healed? What happened to our son is he still in there? What did that freak do to him?”

“Well by the looks of it yes they are fused. Your son seems to have gone through a severe beating and from the vague answers we got through these files he was the one to go through the cannibalism process. Cognitively we’ll have to test whether or not they’re both fully there and how they function.”

“Do you think they could be separated?” Asked Mei sounding hopeful, the doctor sighed a little and pushed his hands into his pockets.

“I don’t know, and I don’t want to make any promises. For now, we’re going to keep them hooked up to a drip that will clear the drugs from their body, tend to them as they are, and monitor them.” Ayato and Mei had been taken to the room to see their son. Gasping at the sight of the boys’ condition they hovered their touches disquietedly.

(change in pov)

Even if they knew it was for their own good, their fear-addled mind was running on fumes and in survival mode! They wanted everyone to go away, they were grateful to be saved but it was overwhelming to be jabbed with needles and whisked off in every direction without being able to communicate for themselves.

“H-Hitoshi, I’m scared” Denki whimpered out siting in balled up in the corner of their mind space.

“I-I know Denki, it will be okay, they have to do this to help us. It will quiet down soon.”
“So many needles…”
“I know, I know it hurts, they’ll stop soon and we can rest.”
When the chance to rest finally came it didn’t come easily and they had to be given a sleep aid which wasn’t too surprising due to the amount of stress and adrenaline they were going through. When they woke up still in the hospital the reality that they had been saved hit them. They were finally away from that horrible man! But that didn’t erase what they had gone through, it didn’t take away the torment and pain, and it didn’t separate them.

They woke up to see Neito sleeping and a spare chair at their bedside, he looked so peaceful. A part of them felt bad for lunging at him, they didn’t want to hurt him, they were just afraid! They were still afraid, they couldn’t shake this fear gripping them and tangling into their mind! But they wanted him, they wanted Neito, they wanted to hold him again, they wanted to kiss him again, to see him smile again.

Many days went by, not many visitors came in, Shouta said it was for their safety and privacy which neither of them would complain about it. Having a lot of people attending to them was already too much so having extra visitors on top of it wouldn’t mix well. They were slowly learning how to use some parts of their body again, their hands weren’t easy since now there were four of them but they managed well enough to use a tablet so they could communicate.

Today was special though, Shouta was bringing Eri over to see them. This made Hitosi anxious, he didn’t want to frighten his little sister. He loved her to death and it would kill him to see her fear him! It didn’t help when Denki’s parents were questioning on it being safe for Eri to come.

“Are you sure it’s safe to bring her? You know he’s not exactly stable, you saw how they reacted to the doctors.”
“I believe they do just fine, they only reacted like that out of fear, Eri most likely won't touch them without asking first,” Shouta explained as he grabbed his car keys.

“If they react so hostilely towards someone doing their job, how do you know they won't try and hurt her. Maybe we could ask to restrain them when she gets here.” Suggested Ayato, Denki jerked his head to look at his father with a hurt look on his face. Why would he say that, were they really that unstable?

“Eri will be safe, your kid can hear you ya know, and so can mine,” Shouta stated annoyedly before leaving. That hurt, were they really that bad? Were they actually dangerous? They remembered the look on Neito’s face when they lunged at him when he first tried to approach. Fear, Neito was afraid of them, they scared him! Maybe they were right to suggest using restraints.

When Shouta came back with Eri, Hitoshi was unsure of how she would react, he tried to be careful to not get too worked up thinking about it. Shouta carried her in and first, it was silent, her bright red eyes meeting their purple and gold ones. She seemed nervous which Hitoshi didn’t take as a good sign until she slowly passed him a piece of paper. Looking down his fears slowly melted away, he gave her the best smile he could and used his tablet to talk.

“Thanks, Eri it's awesome!” The paper had a drawing on it, it was her version of a ‘get better’ card. Of course, it was crayon scribbles, glitter, and stickers but that didn’t matter to him, he was just happy she wasn’t afraid of them.

“Daddy says you can’t talk yet, but that's okay. Your tablet sounds cool!”
“Thanks, kiddo” Eri still kept a reasonable distance from them, not out of fear but just respect and to keep away from the equipment. Their conversations were not long but Hitoshi still enjoyed them, it was the longest he’d had control of the body, and felt happy in a while. He would give anything to be able to hug his little sister again! Hours went by and eventually Eri had to be taken home, this left the teens with Lazer Tag and Energizer again.

“That went better than expected,” Commented Mei, Ayato nodded while plopping down int a chair.

“I half expect it to bite maul her.”.....It?

“D-did my parents just call us ‘it’...Hitoshi?”
“Yeah, ouch, I-I mean I get their concerns but, it feels like they think we’re some deranged beast.”

Chapter 7: Chp 7

Chapter Text

“Alright so we have the results from the scans, and we’ve pulled in some consults to look through this and draw our conclusions.” The doctor started, and many adults in the room sat on the edge of their seats.

“Both your sons are in that body, they can think separately, and in sync. They can process information both independently and together. They do share 1 brain obviously but their brain activity does show the differences. They share what some would call a third consciousness, which is the brain itself. So Denki, Hitoshi, and the brain of the body they inhabit. Bodily they don’t have really any extra organs except for genitalia but that bridge can be crossed at a later time. They do have a larger heart but that is to accommodate their body size…Separation does not look possible since we don’t really know how it was done in the first place. We don’t even know if they have original bodies. Besides some obvious mental health issues, with some physical therapy, they should be able to function normally.”

“I want a second opinion.” Stated Mei, everyone turned to look at her in disbelief.

“There’s gotta be a way to separate them, they can’t be stuck like this forever. I want my son back!” Denki shot her a look, of course, he wouldn’t want to be stuck in this body either but he could tell that wasn’t being said with good intentions.

“Mrs Kaminari I know this is a hard pill to swallow, especially after finding your son who’s been kidnapped for months but. We’ve talked with many professionals and they agreed it's most likely impossible.” The doctor tried to offer his reassurances that the two would turn out fine in the end but Mei wasn’t having it! Shaking her head she pointed at the boys with wide gestures as she shouted.

“I want my son back, not some freaky cannibalistic copy who eats people and behaves like a wild dog!” That left everyone wide-eyed, but she didn’t stop there even when one of the nurses tried to calm her down.

“Normal life?! What part of that looks normal? We’ve already got mutants running around I don’t want my son in any part of that! I want my son, that is not my son!” The boy’s body flinched at her yelling and finger-jabbing as they both felt humiliated.

“Mei, leave,” Shouta demanded sharply, he tried to remain calm but he wasn’t going to stand by his student or son being insulted.

“Oh, why? Are you upset that I’m being honest Eraser head? You don’t know what it feels like to have your kid be ripped from you and now they’re not the same. You can’t even recognize them anymore! You’re not a parent.” Though he was close to losing it this time, Hizashi could see Shouta’s fuse shortening by the second and quickly shot Ayato a look while going over to the boys covering their ears and pulling them to his chest. Ayato picked up on it and surprisingly listened, grabbing Mei by the shoulders trying to convince her to leave.

“Come on, love that’s enough, we’ll go out and get drinks, please.” Ayato pleaded, Mei only rolled her eyes and flipped up her middle finger before turning around and leaving.

Inside their mind space Denki had curled in on himself as did Hitoshi, what Mei said hurt. Denki couldn’t understand why now she was claiming to be his parent so suddenly. Most of his life was spent raising himself. She only treated him like a burden, and so did Ayato. From as far back as he could remember they would rather spend nights out at bars or work than come home to see their son.

“I n-never wanted this” He whimpered quietly burying his face into his knees. Hitoshi wasn’t much better off, he knew that many didn’t know that Shouta and Hizashi had adopted him but it still hurt when others couldn’t consider him their kid. It made him feel invisible most of the time as if he wasn’t there and he didn’t matter. The worst part for both of them was the language, of course, both of them grew up dealing with their fair share of bullying. Having an adult say such things about you stung.

Without knowing it their body started to cry, Hizashi felt his shirt become damp and he looked down to see tears running down.

“Oh boys, I’m sorry you had to hear that.” He frowned and rubbed their back keeping them close, he knew it was hard for them, and the fact they still couldn’t talk yet to tell him anything made his heartbreak. He could hear the cracks and hoarseness as they cried. Shouta looked back at them and sighed, his anger melting below the surface. Walking over he joined their little hug with Hizashi.

“I know that was a lot kids but, you didn’t deserve that. You didn’t deserve what happened to you, it is not your fault.” He said softly, some parts of him were not shocked by Mei’s reaction. He’d pro heroing alongside her and her husband long enough to know just how immature and wreckless they could be. Another part of him was puzzled due to their initial reactions to their capture, they showed genuine concern for him, but now it seemed selfish. One could see this as this being her way of being worried for Denki, but if that were the case she was going about it all wrong.

Whatever this was, now was not the time or place to be doing it. It did not take rocket science to know that the boys would be quite fragile. They had just been through horrific torture and did not need the added stress. It took a while to get them to relax but this encounter did change them. Their hostility toward others was coming back, as did their hypervigilance.

The only good things that came out of this were them finally being able to walk again. Neito had come over almost every night to encourage them and keep them company. He missed their voices and flinched often when they would suddenly reach for him. He missed seeing both of them in their own bodies. He missed when they wouldn’t curl away from him, bite at him, or shove him away. They had changed, and he hated it, he hated it so much.

Denki’s parents stopped coming to the hospital after the argument. Denki wasn’t too surprised but it still hurt. It at least made learning to control their body easier with less pressure from them. Finally, they were discharged, and they were going back to the dorms, they had decided to move into Denki’s dorm since they no longer needed separate rooms. Of course, Hitoshi was gonna miss his old room but his main concern were his classmates. None of them had known about them being fused, the group who rescued them were not allowed to talk about it. How would they react? How would becoming a hero go? Talking was still rough, their voice box was still healing. It hurt sounding grainy and strained. Did they even have a quirk? If so what was it?

“Hey it's Neito, can I come in?” Neito’s voice interrupted their spiraling momentarily, they contemplated shooing him away but ultimately went and opened the door. Neito seemed apprehensive and sad every time he saw them, they saw the look in his eyes, this look of longing and mourning. As if he had lost someone, and he did, he lost both his boyfriends….Of course, they were still both physically there, they just shared one body! Their memories although rough were still the same, they still remembered all the times they spent together, which made it all the more painful when he looked at them like they had died.

“You two okay? I know it's alot for you guys to come back” Neito asked, they nodded and got out their phones to use text-to-speech.

“We’re alright, still adjusting, nervous about letting the others see us.” Neito could not blame them for it, he would hide too. He reached out to hug them resulting in the two flinching away harshly. Neito backed up and frowned at them, a look of slight annoyance began to creep into his expression.

“I’m not gonna hurt you you know.”
“yeah you’re right, sorry” They replied back and opened their arms offering to try again, though this time Neito said something that stung.

“Don’t bite or claw my eyes out, okay.” He sounded like he was talking to a stay cat when he went in for a hug. Even with them hugging, Neito nuzzling his face into their neck, Denki and Hitoshi couldn’t help but feel insulted.

“Are we really that bad?” Denki asked in their mind space, Hitoshi shrugged.

“If our own boyfriend has to tell us that, I guess we are.”
“I don’t wanna hurt him”
“Me neither, sudden movements just, scare me.”
“Y-yeah, I love him but, th-that hurt.”
“I mean, we did claw at him and almost bit him a few times out of fear.”
“That’s fair, ma-maybe things will get better once we get used to this.”

They spent time in Denki and Hitoshi’s room for a few hours, they were starting to get hungry. It had been a while since they truly had meat, and the craving was starting to get to them! All they wanted was to sink their teeth into a piece of meat. Tear it apart, and feel the juices flood their mouth, blood sounded so cool, and the thought of getting a mouth full of the metallic fluid made their mouth water. Shit they needed food badly!

“Just hold out till Neito leaves to get himself food, dad packed us pork belly in that little lunch box he gave us before we got here,” Hitoshi promised, Denki was growing impatient, he had been the one force-fed human body parts so the cannibalism was something that mainly affected him but was starting to bleed into Hitoshi’s conscience. As soon as Neito let their room they went through the lunch box to find a few slabs of half-cooked pork belly and chicken nuggets.

Plowing through the nuggets didn’t take long, devourerng them only took a few minutes. The pork belly was a perfect challenge. Holding onto it in their hands, they used their teeth to tear into the squishy thick piece of meat. Juice running down their lips, the way they bit down drove into their own lower lip drawing a bit of blood but it went unnoticed by their frenzied hunger. They also did not notice Neito standing in the doorway with a look of horror until he yelled out.

“WHAT THE FUCK!?!” Their eyes darted over to see Neito's stricken face. Before they could say anything Neito ran like his life depended on it. Running all the way to his dormitory and to his room.

“N-Ne-Neito,” They said out loud for the first time, their voice trembling not only by sadness but due to it not being used in so long.

“He looked afraid,” Denki said, Hitoshi nodded, and Denki started to cry putting down their food.

“I didn’t mean to scare him”

(slight pov change)

What did he just see? Blood, blood pooling from their mouth down their hands, their teeth ripping through meat. Oh god, and the look on their face was horrifying. Their pupils had dilated, body hunched over the slab of meat, they looked at him like a genuine animal. Like they would lunge out and maul him if he moved wrong. He couldn’t get their expression out of his mind. It was like staring into the eyes of a wolf! That wasn’t his boyfriends, that wasn’t them!

“Oi Monoma!” Neito almost jumped out of his skin hearing his name but calmed down when he recognized it was his friends.

“Yeah?”
“Dude you okay, Testu, and I saw you bolt over here?” Kendou asked from the other side of the door. Neito opened the door and ushered them inside.

“I-I don’t even fucking know who my boyfriends are anymore! They’re gone, that is not my boyfriends, they’re not who they used to be, I-I can’t do this!” Neito rambled out as he paced back and forth. Kendo pulled him to the bed and made him sit down.

“Okay dude, take a deep breath and tell us what happened.” With a heavy sigh, Neito explained everything that went on and how he felt like he lost his boyfriends when he found them. How differently they’ve been acting since that day compared to before. Tetsu and Kendo listened quietly as Neito ranted and cried for minutes leading onto an hour almost and hour and a half! When he got quiet was when Testu spoke up.

“I don’t mean to diminish your feelings dude but, I mean you have to remember those two were probably tortured. If they’re that hostile, they must have gone through horrible things for them to react like that to sudden movements, and touches. Not to mention they were forced to share one body, and no one truly knows just how that can effect them!” Kendou nodded in agreement while rubbing small circles into Neito’s back.

“I know it probably feels like those two are not who they say they are, as if they’ve been replaced by some creature but. It sounds like to me, they’re scared, they were placed in an environment that treated them like wild beasts, depriving them of safety. That's like expecting a pet cat who gets catnapped and abused to come back and still act like how you remember them… Obviously Neito, it's not your fault. I’d be scared too if someone lunged at me or tried to bite me. Or if I saw them eating like a rabid dog. Give them time, maybe talk to them about it, ask why, if they’re comfortable ask them what happened” Neito huffed and nodded leaning into Kendo’s shoulder for comfort. He could empathize with it now that it had been brought to light. Sure the bullying Neito faced as a kid was nowhere near the level of hurt and suffering his boyfriends went through but. He knew what it was like to be treated as if you were nothing. Nothing but dirt to the world, a freak, something to be ridiculed, demeaned, and used.
Being with Denki and Hitoshi brought him out of his shell and softened his need to scare others away and overcompensate with erratic and callous behavior. They showed him he could be loved without ulterior motives, without restriction and limits. He didn’t need to perform, he did not need to tone himself down. So why would he do the opposite to them? They did not ask to be this way. They did not ask to be kidnapped, they did not ask to be fused, they did not ask to be tortured.

“I’ll check on them tomorrow” He responded with a small sigh, Neito knew going back right now wouldn’t be good. He needed a clear head, and they needed space, what he did was probably harsh.

Chapter 8: Chp 8

Chapter Text

Neito had been putting off seeing them out of regret and shame, he knew he had messed up when neither of them texted him. He could not sit with himself knowing he hurt them like that all because he didn't see the bigger picture of their behavior. He knew deep down they would never hurt him purposefully, they were only doing it out of fear. It took him a few days before he came back to their dorm.

“Hitoshi, Denki, you there?” He asked, there was a long silence before the door opened, behind it was Hitoshi and Denki. They looked tired as if they had not slept since they had come home. He stumbled over his words before he blurted out.

“I’m sorry!” They looked at him confusedly but stayed quiet letting Neito continue.

“I shouldn’t have run like that, I shouldn’t have treated you like a ravenous animal, I shouldn’t have said what I said. I understand if you don’t want to be with me any more but, I stull just wanted you to know I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart.” He confessed, their expression changed as if they were thinking until finally they spoke.

“We f-forgi-give you” Cringing at the sound of their voice it sounded so unfamiliar, as if they were speaking at the same time and their voices had combined into a broken microphone. But they spoke nonetheless, they could talk! Neito was amazed by this and smiled. They let him inside their room like before this time Neito asked about the thing they were eating.

“O-oh when you ran? Th-that was half cooked pork belly, i-it helps with the craving for human parts since humans ta-taste lik-like pork.”
“Hm, alright makes sense” He wanted to ask them about what happened but he didn’t know how. Would it come off as insensitive? Would they be upset? Those memories may be too fresh to talk about. Would they be upset if he asked?

“TH-that place, w-was awful.” That sounded like Denki’s voice, the doctor did say they could function independently! Neito situated himself on their bed while listening.

“He performed tests and experiments on us, m-made us s-solve puzzles and i-if we didn’t solve them o-or cooperate he would p-punish one or both of us.” There was a deep breath before Denki looked at Neito sheepishly.

“Sorry didn’t mean to get all depressing on you.” Neito shook his head, gently holding on of his hands.

“Look if you need someone to talk to about the horrible shit you and Hitoshi went through then I’m here, I want to be here for you two. I can’t begin to imagine the horrors he did to you both. You don’t have to keep it all inside…I won't run, not again.” The blond promised, Denki nodded and began to explain one of the experiments.

“Hitoshi says I can tell you this one. So you know how the doctors said our voice box was damaged?” Neito nodded remembering that conversation at the hospital.

“Well that’s because of me, before-before Hitoshi and I were fused we were forced to perform medical things on ourselves and each other. This time-....This time the doctor made me perform surgery on him….to either remove or do something to his voice box.” Neito’s eyes began to slowly widen the more Denki explained, he felt his stomach churn as images began to play in his head of what Denki was telling him.

“It was awful, I didn’t want to do it! But he could either do it himself or do something much worse to me and I-I couldn’t disobey! There was so much blood, muscles, and cords! I kept cutting into him until I was told to stop. Worst part was Hitoshi was-was awake for some parts of it, he saw me. Saw me cutting into his body….” Their body began to shake, tears welled up in their eyes, and their chest-tightened breathing became so much harder. Neito saw this and pulled them to his chest holding them securely.

“I’m sorry you two had to go through that babes, that’s fucking horrifying. You’re safe though, no one here will make you do that ever again.” He could feel them starting to cry into his chest, their hands holding onto his t-shirt shakily. Monoma placed gentle kisses on the top of their head while rubbing their back in the hope of soothing them. He hated to see them so scared, and with the visuals of what Denki had described in his head, he was now starting to see why they were so hostile towards him. If that was just one of the things that happened to them what the fuck else had they gone through before and after fusion!?

By the time the boys had stopped crying they had fallen asleep from exhaustion. Neito was just happy they were finally getting sleep.

School oh boy, they knew they couldn’t hide out in their room forever and they couldn’t ditch school either. That didn’t make this entire thing less terrifying. They had to get a new set of school uniforms due to the height difference and the second set of arms they now possessed. This wasn’t the most drastic change and it was easy to find something that fit. Leaving their dorm was nerve-wracking to say the least, when their other classmates saw them leave their room for class Shinsou and Kaminari were biting the inside of their mouth anxiously.

Yeah people stared, that was expected and so was the whispering amongst one another as they walked to class. When they sat down they just hoped no one would actually say anything-

“Hey um…guys?” Shit, it was Mina with the rest of the bakusquad behind her….dammit!

Internally Shinsou and Kaminari were bantering about who was going to reply the most. Sure Kaminari was more chatty than Shinsou in normal circumstances but, they were both terrified as to what Mina and the others had to say.

“They’re your friends, you go answer”
“What if she’s gonna be mean!?”
“It-its mina, sh-she’s nice you’ve said it before, nicest girl you’ve ever met”
“Yeah and?!”
“I don’t wanna do it”
“Neither do i!”

There was a long silence on their end externally but they did look up at her to show they were listening, so Mina continued.

“We were just wondering how we’re supposed to refer to you guys?” They furrowed their brows at this confusedly, both speaking simultaneously.

“What do you mean?” That sure surprised the group and got other students’ attention, Mina paid no mind and just gave examples.

“Like pronouns and names, do you two respond to your own separate names, do you two have a joint name?”
“Oh! Um we never really put much thought into it honestly.” Answered Kaminari with a shrug of their shoulders.

“You can call us by our separate names for now, I think they/them would probably work the best when referring to us.” He seemed doubtful but Mina just smiled as did the others of the group.

“Alright man, you got it, also we’re just glad to have you two back. I know Shinsou doesn’t hang around us that much but, we still enjoy the both of ya.” That was nice to hear, maybe this wouldn’t be so bad?

“Alright class we’ll be doing joint sparring with class 1-b since it has been a bit and we want to mark your progress.” Announced Shota as he entered the room, this prompted the students to get up and go grab their gym uniforms for training Denki and Hitoshi were now anxious yet again as to how training would go. They didn’t even know what their quirk was and fighting as two people in one body when they had just learned how to run again not long ago? That seemed like a lot to ask for!

Once everyone had made it to the arena and, met up with class 1-B Hitoshi and Denki stayed in the back of their group. Shota could see they were hiding and decided to leave it be. Many pairings were called to sparring while the larger groups sat and watched or warmed up. The fusion set sat on the bleachers dreading for their names to be called, then Aizawa parked himself beside them.

“Hey, its gonna be alright, I don’t expect you guys to be able to do much. If you want you can sit out, but I did plan for you two to spar Monoma to make it easier since you two are familiar with him. However, if that is scary you could spar me.” All the two could give was a nod as they discussed it internally.

“We’ll never get better if we don’t try, maybe we could take turns controlling the body. This is supposed to be multi-rounded, so one of them takes charge one round and the other for the next?” Suggested Hitoshi, Denki hesitated before nodding in agreement.

“Okay, do you wanna go first?”

“Yeah I can try”

“Are you gonna spar with Neito or Mr Aizawa?”

“I-I could try sparing Neito, it wouldn’t hurt to try, not like he could copy a quirk he doesn’t even know exists….Though I wish class 1-B would stop staring, its weird.”

“Hm?” Denki shifted their eyes to see a group of class 1-B students gawking, Denki rolled his eyes and huffed in annoyance.

“You’d think with the lot of them having weird quirks they wouldn’t be staring at us as if we’re some freak show?”

When their names were called they made it over to the ring, and Shinso took main control over their body. He could feel the eyes of their classmates on them as he stood before his boyfriend. Neito smiled sweetly at him and whispered.

“I’ll go easy, don’t worry.” Hitoshi nodded and sighed taking his stance in the ring. As soon as the whistle blew Neito charged, it wasn’t anything fast but it was still a challenge. Hitoshi just barely dodged, redirecting Neito away and steadying himself. You’d think fighting with four arms would make it easier on him but, it was quite the opposite. He had to learn to coordinate them as well as the rest of his body. He was still taking punches, nothing too hard, that was until Neito drove his foot into their chest. Sending the duo flying and something sparked inside them, both mentally and physically. Adrenaline and fear, rationally Hitoshi knew Neito wasn’t trying to hurt him but their body only took it as a threat. It didn’t help that Denki was anxious while watching. A strange pulsing sensation buzzed through their fingertips and up their arms, something Hitoshi wasn’t used to. He shuddered and jolted a little at the unfamiliar feeling.

“What’s wrong?” Denki asked

“Our hands are all tingling but not numb tingly, its like static” It only took seconds for Denki to realize it but it was too late. Neito came over concerned when his boyfriends didn’t get up and reached out to help them.

“NO NEITO DON’T!” As soon as their skin touched a strong shock of electricity shot through Neito stunning him into a daze. Much like when Hitoshi used his quirk the victim’s eyes turned white, Neito’s did too but he remained unmoving.

“Ne-neito?” Thankfully the trance didn’t last long and Neito only shuddered and flapped his arms around to shake out the remaining electricity.

“I’m alright, though I don’t think counts as losing~” he teased playfully and tried to grab at them, this time their adrenaline took over completely. It responded as if it were in danger and sent a flash of memories to both Denki and Hitoshi. Right as Neito grabbed them, their lower set of hands were sparking with electricity. Again upon contact, Neito was electrocuted but much harder, completing the circuit as volts ran through him. His body seized, jolting and spasming harshly, eyes rolling into the back of his head as he made a haunting scream that bellowed through the stadium. It felt like minutes maybe hours but it was only seconds, and they quickly let go of him dropping his body to the dirt.

The boys themselves collapsed to the ground, fighting for air as their eyes dilated with terror. The smell of something burning filled the air as Neito’s body twitched and writhed. Vlad and Aizawa got up from their seats, Vlad going to Neito after sending someone to grab Recovery girl while Aizawa went to Denki and Hitoshi. His own quirk activating to cancel theirs. The electricity crackling and popping around them stopped as Aizawa came over. The boys were shaking hard, tears in their eyes as they curled up.

“Hey hey hey its alright, deep breaths okay.” Between their tears and whimpers, he could hear them begging him not to hurt them, but they didn’t call him by name just ‘sir’. Aizawa could see this was most likely a flashback reaction. He didn’t want to restrain them and shielded them from their peer’s gazes.

“Everyone goes inside to your respective classrooms, we will be there as soon as possible,” Aizawa stated, most of class 1-a wasted no time following his instructions, while 1-B took coaxing. Many of them stared confusedly or critically, Kendo and Tetsu had to drag a few of them along. For now, that left the teachers to focus on the three students in front of them. Neito was handed off to Recovery Girl as soon as she came while Shota was still trying to calm Denki and Hitoshi down.

He could feel them attempt to squirm away but he gently pulled them to his chest, it took a minute of screaming before it stopped. He could feel their hands tightly grip onto his shirt and then finally a

“We’re sorry” Their voice distorted like before when they would talk at the same time.

“Its alright, you didn’t mean to hurt him, Neito will be okay.” Aizawa said softly while rubbing gentle circles into their back. It was another minute before Aizawa decided to bring them to Recovery Girl’s office so they could get checked out and maybe given some anti-anxiety medicine, as well as see Neito.

“How’s he doing?” Asked Aizawa as he set the boys down on a chair not far from the cot Neito was on.

“He’s alright, his brain got a little scrambled, he’s gonna be a bit twitchy and sore but he should be fine. Just have to watch for bleeding is all. How are the boys?” The adult’s conversation faded into the background as they went to check on Neito. Sitting curled up on the chair beside his bed they couldn’t help but feel horrible about it. They hurt him…again… His skin was a little pale and had light scaring where the electricity passed through. This made them look at their own body where they noticed much more visible scaring from their quirk.

“You guys know i’m not upset with you right?” Neito’s voice came out, it was strained but it was him nonetheless. Denki and Hitoshi got quiet averting their gaze feeling ashamed.

“I know you wouldn’t hurt me intentionally, plus it seemed like you guys just unlocked your quirk so of course you won't have a good handle on it.” Should they tell him why what happened? They barely knew what happened themselves! One second it was a playful sparing match the next the image of the doctor was in flashing in their eyes, and the memories of him grabbing them were replaying. Aizawa came over and handed them a small cup of pills and a bottle of water.

“Its a low-dose anti-anxiety medicine, you may have to start taking these before sparing so you’re not so on edge, and it may just help you in general,” Shota explained, Denki and Hitoshi eyed the medicine cautiously before swallowing it down with the water. They trusted Shota, he would never hurt them.

“We-we’re still sorry…about hurting you, Neito.”

“Its alright, its not your fault you’re still settling in. I still love you two.”
