Chapter 1: Ch.1: Starting over again
Chapter Text
Ch. 1: Starting Over Again.
Why couldn't you figure yourself out any? Better yet- why couldn't you just push through to the bitter end at least pass the finish line before giving up like this? You worked so hard up to this point- and this is how you- you toss it all away? Stars- What were you going to do now?
You look around the dorm room that you grew to treat like a little home while you been here at university, it was very small room that was designed for just one person to live in- a bed and desk cramped in what was basically a glorified storage room. Your things all packed and the concrete walls and small twin bed lay bare-bones as you had your two large suitcases stuffed stupid beside you. Where were you going one may ask, why- in the middle of a semester of what was you taking the lovely steps into become a nurse, after so much time and work you poured into it? You.. were simply at a limit. You were packed away and leaving, not for a break in the semester or for any reasonable short leave; you were dropping out and leaving.
What let you to be making this decision? It was a simple one- you weren't cut out for it.
The amount of hours and energy spent on going to classes, studying, working as a intern to gain your hours of training- it was all just too much to balance for you, and that took you a while before you finally admitted that to yourself. You were burned out from the lack of sleep and the draining of the work and people- you felt ashamed to be doing this. You had to swallow down your pride the moment you committed to this, grabbing your bags as you wheeled yourself out of the door and down the hall- heading towards the small elevator as you made your exit. You looked to your phone as you checked to see if the uber you had scheduled to pick you up had arrived- you had time, so you weren't rushing horribly.
It was only a few days ago that you told your University Councilor- and while they tried to convince you to stay and maybe switch to another major, they deflated when you stayed firm. After having left the councilor's office after filling out what was needed to withdraw and the consciences, you called a very important person.
---
Those days before, you leaned against the wall of the building outside by the steps. Gods were you hoping yourself that the councilor would be able to convince yourself out of this, but now that you committed? It was settled.. you actually just did it. Gods- what were you thinking-?!
You slid down the wall as you let the hot tears go down your face. Was this how you were supposed to feel-? Was this supposed to still be this much of a stressful process after the fact-? This was frustrating to say the least. A breath needed to be taken, relax- think of funny meme's and goofy songs. You were going to get back on track- get back to feeling like yourself!
You smiled slightly at the thought, you needed this- this was for you and not for anyone else. You knew though you can't stay in the dorms anymore, so- lets back to where you made your roots. After briefly calling down and repumping yourself up, you took your phone out of your jean pockets before calling up the only person that mattered to call- Aunt Serena.
While picking yourself back up, you listened to your phone ring before the sound of it answering in mere moments- a chipper, sweet, and energetic tone on the other line.
"Ducky-Honey! Hello! How's my smart gal doin over there?" You hear her southern accent slip right on through as she called you the only nickname she would probably only call you unless to scold ya for whatever old dump junk you pulled on her as a kid- even now if you were still there.
"Heya Auntie Rena, hm- I'm doing alright here, but.. I gotta tell you something, and ask a favor-"
You had started, letting out a sigh. just- rip off the Band-Aid and tell her before you chicken out. You got this. Of course you now had your aunts attention on the other end, hearing her stop whatever she may have been up to as of late- which knowing her, was probably one of her commissioned pieces. Her voice softened as it was laced with concern.
"Sure thing Hun- go right ahead, anything for you" She assured, letting you nod to the phone, where you then started your explaining of everything- slowly your voice would crack at words as you informed her of your shortcoming. You tell her how you wanted to figure things out and take a step back- and if allowed, come home.
Of course, she listening patiently on the other end, shifting around as she was thing some on her own end. She smiled some over before she let out a little laugh.
"Ducky.. of course you can come back, your room is the same as it was before ya left off to the world. Honey- Don't stress out anymore, ok? We'll figure everything out together, your young after all sweetness" She assured, the warmth from her caring over the phone that made you smile.
"Thank you, so much Auntie.. I'll be booking the flight home for afew days, I'll let you know the details when I do, I appreciate you so much-" You told her, another laugh on the other end from her.
"Kiddo, what am I here for if not a home and love to give your silly lil ass? You needed to visit me anyway, or else I'd start to wonder where the trouble was at!" She teased, causing you to laugh.
"I keep ya young, Rena! what's the fun with you if I don't give you a new experience with every turn?" You joked. Oh, if only you knew then. Your aunt wasn't exactly alone when she was talking to you after all.
---
The flight back to your aunts state wasn't a long one, and thankfully the closest flight time to the day you left wasn't going to put a huge dent in your saving with you getting the absolute bare minimum. That's another thing with collage- You had at a point gotten it fully paid off by a mix of scholarships and what the job you worked at Walmart at the first few semesters covered before you had to shift to the intern job at the local hospital. So, in short, you were able to drop out debt free- Wooooo! hakuna matata!! What a truly wonderful feeling that is to not worrying about impending debt.
While taking a taxi from the airport to the wonderful small town you grew up in, smiling over the old shops you remembered that were now been seemingly replaced and fixed up as it was now something new. It was kinda funny how you watched and felt nostalgic of being in a familiar area as your headphones played in your ears the sounds of music that didn't match this kind of townie vibe frown wince you came from. What was the current song-? ah, right, Confrontation, from the 'Jekyll and Hyde' Musical. You let your playlist have the randomist of songs in, there was a theme mostly- but meh, Musicals were a nice throw for the loop kind of jazz to keep you from getting tired of the same stuff.
You had to wonder how your aunt has been getting by, taking care of the huge property she inherited from her family. it was a very large ranch type home, with another house connected aways onto the property behind the main house. She always rented them out like air BNBs or to local collage kids visiting in the summer before heading back to collage. she had a nice garden with a handful of plum trees before the rest of the property was mostly just delved and connected to the forest that outreached the property into a upward hill to Mt Ebott.
Upon arriving towards the ranch, going down its small road that followed the fence in part of the proper, You noticed quickly the amount of different vehicles that filled up both the open garage and gravel driveway. You weren't expecting to see so many cars- did she throw a party or something-? Gods you hoped not- you didn't want to get questioned by random people.
Once the taxi pulled to a stop, you got out of the vehicle with pulling your two bags in tow. You hesitated for a moment, looking around before rolling your bags- er, dragging your bags really to the door, as the gravel caught on the wheels of the dumb things. You go right on up the porch and give your good ol signature knock to the door. Who answered the door wasn't your aunt or one of her friends that you would recognize. Instead- your met with a tall and dark dressed skeleton with a scowl on his face, a scar over his right eye while his outfit contained a void of any color other then for a red scarf and red belt over golden belt loops in his waistband.
He glared down to you a moment- analyzing you as he took in your appearance, what felt like him mean muggin you before he scoffed and stepped forward some- man were you having to crane your neck abit to stare at this mans. You and him having a slight staring contest before he speaks- oof, ears-
"THE NIECE, I ASSUME?" He asks, having this death look like I somehow already offended him. Oh boy.
"Y/n! Ducky! Welcome home! Come on in!" Your aunt says as she speaks up from behind the tall prickly skeleton. He silently steps aside and lets you step forward. You smile as she gave him a small nod, walking in with your bags trailing behind you. Upon stepping inside, your imminently swept with the many eyes of at the minimum you see in the room of atleast SIX skeletons in the living room.
"Oh yes- My bad Ducky! I forgot to warn ya- these boys are currently staying here with me! And now by extension, their your roomies now! You'll the rest of them by around dinner!" She said, a smile on her face as you looked to her both with confusion but also some curiosity. Well this is a certain way to come home too, though..
Just some-?

Chapter Text
Hm. Ok. Totally normal thing to come home to. Totally expected. Skeletons. Uh-huh.
Your brain was taking in this little visual of half a dozen skeletons in your aunts home, and the devious thoughts were already beginning to pester your lovely little mind to say them aloud. Oh while it would definitely be a way to start a conversation and- maybe set a fun impression on you, it could also be of no good. With them being who they are- the jokes poking in your head could either be seen as unoriginal or simply offensive to them. While the risk was there- it would be so funny to mess with your aunt in your deviation. What a driving force it is- to be a menace of sorts.
Taking a moment to look over skeletons in the room and where they were, taking in their appearances and what personality may be shown through their fashion sense- or lack of. Starting with the skeleton that you were originally greeted at the door by- who now had stood back as his sockets glared down at you while he stood tall. To give more attention to his outfit, he had a sort of sophisticated bad boy biker look going for him, weirdly enough making you think of the character Killian from the show 'Witches of East End'- if anything, his clothes just having more of a red lining or trim to himself in that regard.
Moving on; you look to the two skeletons sitting on the couch on the far wall away from the front door, the furthest from you. The one that was actually sitting on the couch correctly, albeit abit spread out as he seemed to be comfortable there, was a skeleton that seemed to match the first one. He was shorter then the first, skull more rounded then long that wore more casual clothes- red and black the main colors again, with some yellow or gold mixed in. He wore some black basket ball shorts with yellow stripes with a black shirt in white letterings 'What doesn't kill me, Might make me kill you.' This skeleton also wore a black jacket with yellow fluff and a gold zip up- a thin gold chain hanging from his neck. You think you can already imagine this one to be sarcastic- you can bet money on it.
Now to the next one, who was sitting against the arm rest of the couch with a leg slung over and touching the ground as he seemed to be in a lean while he sat there. He may slouch from what you can tell, but he was taller like Mr. Glares is. He seemed to be be a laid back type, maybe abit too laid back with the long baggy pair of socks that were held to his foot by his slides- but you wont judge. he wore some brown cargo shorts that go over his knees by a inch and a half while his cozy looking baggy as hell faded orange hoodie covered the whole top of him. No money to bet on this set of bones.
Your next targeted assessments went to the two most friendly looking ones that poked between a doorway arch and the stairs that both smiled to you in a look that showed excitement on a guest to arrive. The taller of this pair wore a simple white Tee with red sleeves and around the collar of it with some jeans on, a bright red scarf hanging around his neck that seemed to have fallen apart not too long before you arrived from what you guested- a notable black tight shirt underneath his shirt that seemed to reach down to his elbow. To the next skeleton, he wore a gray top that had the sewing of what appeared to be the outline of a taco over a small pocket on the front in white embroidery, some simple blue shorts that went nicely as a blue bandana was tied around his neck.
Now, finally- down to the last one. This other skeleton seemingly watched you from where he sat merely afew feet to the left of you on the love seat that was by the front door. he had a lazy grin on his face compared to the one skeleton that watched you with intently- and while he seemed more calm, he seemed to observe you all the same in a look to understand. He wore a blue jacket with a gray hood, a white shirt that says 'Nap' from what you can guess, spelled using the periodic table. he then just had on a pair of black basketball shorts with white stripes, and from there that was his look.
Now with all of that out of the way from your little observation, you gave a smile to your aunt and to the other skeletons. Introductions times, yeah?
"Huh, didn't think you'd try and pull off a southern bell necromancer auntie, but I suppose that Necronomicon had to get some use at some point" You said, letting your aunt give you a look as she processed what nonsense you said as you faced the others. "Heya, names Y/n, its nice to be meeting ya'll" You greeted, giving a two finger way as you look over them. While the two smiling skeletons seemed confused by your previous words, they of course jumped to greet you.
"HELLO! IT IS OUR PLEASURE TO BE MEETING YOU ASWELL, HUMAN! I AM THE GREAT PAPYRUS!" The taller one says, loud in volume in a voice that just gives off a kind confidence to him.
"AND I, AM THE MAGNIFACENT BLUE! WE HAVE HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT YOU HUMAN! ESPCIALLY SINCE THERE ARE PHOTOS EVERYWHERE OF YOU! MISS SERENA TALKS GREAT PRAISE!" The smaller one says- loud bunch, weren't they? Did all skeletons tend to yell of was that just so far three out of six-?
Regardless, you smiled to the two as they spoke, they seem like real nice guys atleast! very welcoming, just a tad on the high volume. After the twos introductions, your aunt speaks in. "Hehe, alright you two, indoor voices liked discussed, mkay?" she corrected, the two perking up before they both quickly nodded in such a cartoon- 90's anime fashion type thing. Gosh these two were adorable-
"AH- Sorry Miss Serena!" Papyrus would say, while Blue looked over in your direction again. "YES- Er, It Is Very Nice To Meet You, Human! OH! Do Greet The Rest! We Have Edge Here-!" Blue says, motioning to the grumpy tall one before gently motioning you over to the pair on the couch. "There Is Edges Brother, Red! And Then My Brother- Stretch!" He said, 'Stretch' giving a nod to your direction when mentioned while 'Red' gave you a glance over before seeming to look out to his brother- giving a huff. "'S'up"
"Ayo" You responded, Papyrus quickly taking back up in attention as he points over to the last skeleton in the room, who- wait, was he asleep?
"That Is My Brother, Sans! One Of The Many LAZIEST Sack Of Bones In The House!" He huffed, strolling over to Sans as he looked down to him, hands on his hips. You find it kinda impressive how someone could just- fall asleep so quickly! It made you smile some as a bad joke perked into your mind, stars, skeletons in the house was a bad joke set up waiting to happen and you can only wonder how long you can go before you busted out every joke your brain could form under its grasp.
"Alrighty, well, nice to meet ya all- hopefully I'm not disturbing anything too much around here" You hummed, your aunt speaking on up to this as she gave a tsk. "Honey, you know you ain't got nothing to worry on that! Your room is still in tact for a reason, and I always told the boys from the start that you'd be a member of this house for whenever, and how long you needed to be here- so! You go ahead and get your lil ass upstairs and get your things settled, then you can come on down and we'll catch up, mmm'kay?"
You put your hand up in mock defense to this, laughing some. "Geez, one comment and I got you worked up- you got it boss lady! I'll be goin- and here I was thinkin of popp'in afew jokes before heading up-" You said, your aunt quickly nudging you up the stairs before even letting you say anything else. Well she's happy to see you, ain't she? Well, you simply laughed some as you head up to your room, going down the hall passed afew doors with signs with the names of the people in them before getting to yours- Oh, Your special. Your room was labeled by the lovely nickname you know far too well- 'Ducky'.
While you were upstairs, your aunt looked over to the skeletons that were with her as some of them looked at her while some- Edge, made his leave towards the kitchen. "Alright, I'm sure I don't gotta go back over any sort of ground rules that I haven't already said at lasts house meetin, but- just remember; smoke either outside or in the smoke den, respect my lil girl and her space as she requests it, and take any issues to me, we clear?" She finishes, putting her arms over her chests as she looked at them, Papyrus and Blue of course nod with a smile.
"Understood Miss Serena! And I'll Make Sure To Let The Others Be Reminded Aswell!" Papyrus said, she knew the others that were about would get the memo at some point, but she appreciated the sweetheart putting in that effort for her. "Thank ya Honey-Bun, much love for ya" she hummed, trying to remember something else she wanted to say- oooh, how annoyin' it was when she couldn't remember her next oncoming thought!
"Hm, well then, dinner should be getting started soon I'd gather, so I'll let ya'll do your own thing till it gets around time- and thank ya in advance for helping out" She said, looking over bunch of them before she went off aswell to their own devices. She then went off to the kitchen, getting all the food out and ready for the grill tonight.
Papyrus and Blue would head out towards the back sliding glass door, big smiles on their faces as they were getting all the games out and ready that Serena allowed for them to get out. It was tradition for a cook out to have outdoor games, was it not? This left Sans, Red, and Stretch alone together in the living room- glancing at each other in silent communication amongst each other before the three all disappeared from their different places.
---
After unpacking your clothes and other belongings, you kinda sat on your bed in your old room as the nostalgia hit you pleasantly. You didn't doubt your aunt before, but- the place was exactly as you remembered- minus some of your plants, but they were probably moved elsewhere so she'd remembered to care for them. The room was a decent size that you filled in a very particular way to make it more homey and you- the nest of all your pillows and the three blankets on top of your queen sized bed was something you sooooooo missed. The posters and tapestries still hanged over your walls to give the faded blue paint on the walls give more color and fill to the space. Your book shelves of a mix of plushies and knickknacks, and of course, actually books still were in there spots- collecting some dust on them from how long the time spent away you've been. You loved seeing just how two shelves of one of your bookcases was just filled with Bulbasaur theme items- plushes, LED displays, figures- hm. One was missing- your stone pot Bulbasaur wasn't around. You weren't too heavily worried about it, as it had a succulent in it when you left- again, it was probably moved elsewhere. Did you have a favorite Pokémon? yes, and it was that adorable green boy, you had no shame in that.
After taking in and relishing in the familiar safe space of your room, you slid your suitcase under the bed- next to a wore old box beside it. You smiled some at seeing it, taking a moment to check the inside of it to make sure it was all there- and it was. You sighed, never truly worried for the treasures in it, but you could never be sure. What was inside of this old worn box had all kinds of important things- all from your life before your aunt adopted you. It held a jacket and a sweater that definitely has seen some age as the colors of it was decently faded. Then there was the old documents on your adoption that your aunt let you keep, then- there was the old photos. There was you, smiling so brightly to the world in your yellow and white striped tank top and shorts- holding you was probably one of the most important people in your life that you missed with all your soul. It was your older brother, and who was your only blood family- Sean.
You gently put everything away after gently looking over them- not bothering to look at the case file you had that sat on the very bottom of the box. You needed to get yourself downstairs after all, make friends with all the new skeletons of the house, yeah? So, you left your room, heading downstairs before heading towards the kitchen where there was the most noise. In the kitchen all busy at work, was your aunt, along with Papyrus and Blue as they were putting out all kinds of food on different trays- you could already smelled some food done. At seeing you, Blue was the first to greet you.
"OH HUMAN!! WELCOME ON OVER, WE ARE JUST HELPING IN SORTING THE FOOD BEFORE IT GETS PUT ON THE GRILL!" He told you, his smile infectious as you returned it to him. He was just so cute, you didn't know what to do with him.
"Oh sweet, we grilling tonight? glad I'm home then, can't ever go wrong with a BBQ" You hummed, looking over the array of food. Oh damn- how many people is there around here? This was just a hella ton of food- there had to be a bunch of leftovers after this. "We uh- feeding a village too, or do skeletons have a bigger apatite then I could imagine?" You questioned, a snicker being heard behind you. Glancing over- it was Stretch, leaning onto the archway of the doorway.
"kinda like a village, there's alot of us you'd yet to see" He told you, which in turn made your brain think a moment before you smiled more.
"Oh, so.. we got a graveyards full then? That's fair, I'm sure you guys need some meat on your bones for sure" You said, having one hell of a goofy grin as Blue and Papyrus took a moment to groan.
"IT ISN'T EVEN DINNER TIME YET!" Papyrus said in despair, shaking his head as Stretch chuckled to this. Your aunt gave you the look she always gave you when she knew you were gonna start your funny business.
"On a technicality, a graveyard is considered a graveyard after a minimum of six bodies are buried" You hear as Red appeared by the sliding glass door, smiling some as he has been doing some eavesdropping. At this bit of random information, you just smiled at the prospect of talking about home to people, and you can now probably, a hundred precent- say you have a graveyard. Or- or-or-or! You could ask people if you were allowed to bring your graveyard with you to some janky party or event. Why did the idea of referring to your new roommates as a graveyard just- make you start laughing so much? Because you were- mentally and physically. If there was to be a group chat with these guys, you already had a name idea for it.
Everyone kinda just looked at you as you let your little giggle fit calm and subside, shaking your head some. "Boy did you just give me brain more dumb things to add to its multiple windows of thoughts to remember for later-" You tell Red, who looks at you still as he watches you carefully with slight curiosity. "Huh, I'll have'ta pick your brain on that later" He snickered, you and Stretch giving little laughs aswell.
Yeah, I think I like these guys already.

Chapter Text
After you share afew more silly jokes between Red and Stretch, the two ended up going their separate ways from you to help with other tasks. Red was yelled at by his brother to come assist him with getting more charcoal for the grill, and Stretch to help Blue and Papyrus clear out the back yard for the various games that seemed to be planning. Despite so many people being busy at this time, your spine would shudder as you felt like you were being watched of sort. It was such a out of pocket feeling, but looking around where you were- now outside under the back deck watching everyone do their thing, you couldn't spot what could possible be giving you this feeling. How odd..
You shake off the feeling, and instead walk over to Edge and Red over by the grill, looking over the food that was cooked over so far. You can almost never go wrong with grill food, but- man did everything smelled so tasty!! You were almost tempted to test your luck at sneaking some of that delicious meat off the grill while the man was distracted- though just seeing you eye up the food had Edge's sharp glare narrow at you.
"DO NOT STAND ABOUT LIKE A DOG WAITING FOR FOOD TO BE DROPPED AT YOUR FEET, YOU WILL WAIT TILL I'VE FINISHED AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS PREPARED." He said, scoffing at you with such a annoyed tone. Well ouch- You didn't think you'd get that kind of comment.
"hmp, sorry- just looks so good- can't wait to have abit off everything is all, can't help that my eyes show my current souls desire" You said, crossing your arms as you looked at him. Fell seemed to snort for some reason as Edge simply waved his hand at you, as if to dismiss you.
"OF COURSE IT LOOKS GOOD, I MADE IT! THE SKILLS OF THE GREAT AND TERRORUS EDGE IS UNMATCHED!" He boasted, taking a moment to turn over afew chicken and and hot dogs to get that wonderful even cook to them. You hummed some to this as you watched before glanced back up to him.
"Well, oh great and terrible, I look forward to more of your food then, I'll hold you to your word on that" You inform him, taking a moment to look over the others in the yard.
Looks like currently there was a hackie sack set up, giant 'Jenga blocks', aswell as a giant '4 in a row' all spread out around the yard. You wondered if these games were to actually be played- wasn't it supposed to rain at some point tonight? Regardless, you watched as Papyrus and Blue went out putting things up properly while Stretch just- well, he wasn't currently helping it looked. He was just messing with a random bubble machine that was in his hands that was letting out a hell of a ton of them into the wind. You didn't quite get what he was currently doing with it other then being a bubble statue as he seemed to stare off into space with it. You wonder if it was just a set of for a joke that he was just waiting for someone to spring into action. Despite the temptation, you took your attention back to Edge as Red stood boredly by the grill.
Edge was still cooking while casting you glares ever few seconds while you took notice of a new pair of skeletons coming up from the path that led to the second house on the property. The short one of the pair was wearing what appeared to be a silky velvet button up with the sleeves carefully folded around the top of his elbows, wearing a black coat vest with high smooth and pressed pants. He held a similar scar over his eye like Edge, his eye lights looking down at his golden watch on his wrist before saying something to his taller counterpart- who you can only assume was his brother, going off everyone else.
His brother walked while hunched over some, and in contrast to his brother, wore a dark jacket with fur lining to the hood that appeared to have seen some wear and tear to it- having on a tank underneath with a black undershirt and hugged over his bones. How the taller one walked was something like someone always on watch- like he was keeping himself alerted for any unfamiliar sound or person nearby. It wasn't like he was paranoid, but- something else in his face you couldn't quite name.
This pair seemed to be having a shushed conversation before they caught sight of you. The shorter one of them seemed to straighten themselves and hold themselves in a more confidant style as the two walked up to you, Edge, and Red. The skeletons eyelight's seemed to make a observation of you as he looked you over.
"YOU MUST BE MISS SERENA'S NIECE, YOU CAME AS EXPECTED" He said, having a particular manner of speaking that seemed formal yet slightly gruff. You give him a nod as Red seemed to roll his eyelight's at the other before heading in through the front door.
"Yeah, that's me! I'm Y/n" you introduced, the skeleton giving a nod before extending his hand out to you- which you took. He gave you a firm handshake as he introduced himself.
"PLEASENT TO FORMALLY MEET YOU, YOU MAY KNOW ME AS BLACK"
You gave a nod as you retracted your hand after a moment. You glanced over to the taller of the two, making eye contact while doing so as he was also looking to you- observing you as he did the surrounding area previously. Black looked over to the other before speaking with a slight command to him.
"GO INSIDE AND HELP WITH ANY PREPERATIONS FOR MISS SERENA THAT ARE NEEDED IN ATTENDING, MUTT"
"Yes M'Lord"
'Mutt' then with no delay walked past you and headed inside through the sliding glass door. What kind of a name is 'Mutt'? Was it a nickname, or was he actually named that? You noticed how some of the skeletons had such odd names, like a theme of literal colors- but Mutt? It just left a sad thought to be given such a name. Well, while you had your small thoughts on the names of these tenant's so far, Edge would speak up again as he pulled some more food off the grill and onto some tinfoil trays while he put on some more raw meats and vegetables.
"MAY THE TWO OF YOU GET A MOVE ON ALREADY? I ALREADY TOLD YOU TO GET MOVING BEFORE, HUMAN, SO I THINK YOU BETTER HEED MY SECOND WARNING BEFORE ANY CONCEQUENCES ARE FACED" He said, glare still as present as ever as you put your hands up in mock defense.
"Alright, sorry- I'll get a move on then- I'll go see if there's anywhere I can be put to work at-" You say, heading over to the back door before Black intervened.
"NONSENSE, YOU ONLY JUST ARRIVED, LET THE REST OF US HANDLY THE PREPERATIONS, SIMPLY RELAX FOR YOUR WELCOME PARTY" He says, which makes you raise an eye.
"Well, I'm not exactly just a guest at the moment- just because I'm the guess of honor for the night, doesn't mean I can't help-" "NONESENSE, MISS SERENA ALREADY STATED SHE WANTED THIS TO BE A WELL EXPERIANCE WELCOME TO US, SIMPLY LET US HANDLY THINGS, AND GO AND RELAX ELSEWHERE" Black interjected you, seeming insistent for some reason for you to just not help. Was this something your aunt had stated before to them, or was he just trying to play a good host? Regardless, Blue came running on up with a smile on his face to the scene.
"HUMAN! YOU MUST COME JOIN AND PARTAKE IN SOME GAMES WITH US! I'M SURE AFTER A FEW GAMES EVERYTHING WILL BE FINISHED, SO PLEASE DON'T WORRY YOURSELF IN ANY WORK!! WE CAN PLAY ANY GAME YOU LIKE!" Blue said, his bubbly and excitement making you smile before you let out a sigh.
"Mkaaaay, sure, fiiiiine, I'll play some games with ya" You tell him, the skeleton brightening more before gently taking your hand before running off towards where are the games were set up.
"WONDERFUL!! BE AWARE THOUGH, PAPYRUS AND I ARE EXPERTS IN GAMES LIKE THESE!! WE ARE GREAT PUZZLE MASTERS!" He boasted, making you smile as you gave a nod.
"alright then, lets see if I can beat a pair of 'puzzle masters' then!"
---
Mkay, either you sucked ass at 'Connect 4' and junk, or they actually were good at those types of games- regardless, you didn't win squat during the next 45 minutes you played with the pair- unless you can count when Papyrus very obviously let you win at 'Jenga'. Regardless, after finishing up another round of games and being in the middle of re-stacking the Jenga tower when your aunt yelled out from the back door to the four of you- four because Stretch just watched the entire time. Anytime you or the others insisted he play, he'd just shrug and say he'd play next game. Despite it all though- this feeling of eyes on you still has yet to go away from earlier.
"Heya!! Come wash up and get to the table!! foods done and the tables set!!" Your aunt yelled out, you giving a thumbs up in the air in response as you and the other skeletons abandoned your half build tower and moseyed ourselves inside. Luckily for Papyrus and Blue, they wore gloves, so they just had to take those off before taking themselves to the dinner table. Stretched somehow got ahead of you and was already using the kitchen sink to wash his hands despite still sitting down in the grass behind you last you saw- It made you kinda gawk at him a moment before shaking your head and going into the nearest bathroom on the first floor.
Once you made it to one of the bathrooms, you started to wash your hands with a small hum. Looking yourself in the mirror, there was abit of dirt and sweat marks on your face- probably due to just being outside while it was nice and hot outside, and all that moving around you did wasn't of any help probably. After washing your hands, you take a moment to splash some water on your face and clean off any of the dirt and such with your hands and a smidge of soap. While in the middle of this, the sound of footsteps could be heard- abit heavy setted sounding to you that seemed to get closer and closer till it stopped at the bathroom door. After quickly splashing some more water on your face to try and see who it was, you reach for the towel that was hanging on a ring on the wall before feeling it already being pressed into your hands to take.
"Oh- thank ya" You hummed, gently taking it from whoever it may be and wiping your face before looking over to who was there. Compared to everyone else you've seen so far at the house, this had got to be the biggest skeleton you met by far today- as standing only a foot away from you was this large and tall skeleton staring down at you with a single red eye light in his left socket. You can see a huge hole in the top side of his head, cracks running down it to his socket that held the single red orb that stared at you. He wore a ragged and faded blue hoodie with rusted splotched that looked abit pink in the center of them- appearing to be stains that were attempted to be cleaned out to no avail. he wore some basketball shorts aswell that were still old looking with how the color and the material seemed so worn. The newest thing this man had on was probably the shirt he had on- which oddly enough, was a white t-shirt with a small pocket that poked out slightly from under his jacket, having the 'Hello Kitty' logo on that pocket printed on.
It took you a moment while you looked at him and had your slight surprise that you suppressed passed before you gave the big guy a smile before motioning towards his shirt.
"So, you like Hello Kitty, or just a simply shirt for you that you liked?" You asked, the skeleton tilted his head at you some, his eyelight scanning over you before he gave a big wide smile to you as he slightly drummed his fingers against the door frame- having a look that showed he had a thought that amused him. "Just... somethin' that I liked... Don't know much on da'... character on it..." He said, voice slow and deep with a slight grumble that vibrated on his bones it seemed.
You gave him a nod, gently setting the towel down as you spoke again. "Mkay, thats fine, well in case you didn't know, I'm Y/n, and you are?" You asked, tilting your head back at him as you kept his smile. He let out a quiet chuckle to this before he answered you. "mm... Names' Axe... nice to... meet you..."
You gave him another nod, while not happy to hear such a odd name in the pile, you gently offer your hand out to 'Axe' as you kept your smile.
"Alright then, well Axe- shall we go head to dinner then?" You ask, the other looking down at your hand for a long moment before he brought up his own. His large hands wrapped around yours and essentially engulfed it- the dry and rough feeling of his bone hand keeping a hold of you as he gave a quiet nod. So with that, you gently walked out of the bathroom and led the large skeleton gently behind you back into the dinning room where everyone would be waiting.
With arriving into the dining room, the feeling of being watched was felt again as you entered, such a strange feeling it was to you and how intense it felt. Pushing past that- upon seeing you arrive back with Axe in tow, the skeletons you met so far seemed to have a tensed expression as they stared at you- some seemingly trying to hide the either afraid looks they had or just the surprise they had to see you arrive with a member of the graveyard hand in hand. Red and Mutt, along with afew others seemed to give intense glares to Axe before relaxing once the two of you let your hands go and joined in at your separate spots at the table. How the others looked still as they looked to Axe made you wonder what had them so uncomfortable- it seemed bizarre.
When getting back, you can notice that there were only two others at the table that you haven't met yet- one you assume being relaxed to the Axe by his very large size that you can still tell even if he was sitting down. The tall skeleton you can notice had a button up shirt that hung loosely on his frame with some baggy brown pants on aswell- his teeth crooked with braces around his mouth, with a pair of frameless glasses on his face aswell. Another thing you took note was the cane that was leaned against him in his chair beside him where he was. The poor thing looked abit shy to you where he was, he went from looking at Axe, who sat beside him, to you- giving a small smile before giving a wave to you from across the table. Your heart melted some from seeing him, he gave off some gentle giant vibes, how sweet you can image he is. You wish you could properly greet him, but he was sat much farther down from you.
But, down to the last of the tenant's you see, was a skeleton that dressed very similar to Sans- blue hoodie, basketball shorts- if anything all was wore down and had a lighter color to it. He wore his hood up so you couldn't really see his face, and the red tattered scarf around his neck was harder to tell of his features. He had some gray gloves on his hands you noticed as he brought one up to adjust the scarf- seeming to sink further into the material and hideaway as he noticed quick of you trying to look at him. Oddly enough, despite not being at a angle to see his face or his gaze- you had a string feeling that he may have been your silent observer, as while looking at him, the feeling feels far more intense. You didn't know what to think on it- but then again, everyone was clearly examining you when they met you, so you weren't holding any extra thought to this particular skeleton when he did it.
On a different note, you look to the table, where in the grand center area of the large piece of furniture had all of the cooked food and sides on display and ready for anyone to start grabbing and building their plates. There was steak, burgers, hotdogs- broths, grilled chicken, skewers, corn- all kinds of things that just looked tasty and smelled goooooood. You already knew you were gonna try and get abit of everything, just to aleast give everything a fair shot to see if it tasted as good as it looked and smelled. Your Aunt sat at he grand center of the table, smiling to everyone before she spoke out.
"Alrighty! I know everyone is dying to start eating, but I just wanted to give a quick thanks to everyone for pitchin' in and helping to get this welcome party all planned out nicely! Thank you for all the prep and cleaning, and defiantly to the cooking- specifically that's a thanks to you, Edge! You and everyone did wonderful- I appreciate all of ya'll!" She said with a smile before looking to you, having a happy look at seeing you back home. You smiled back to her as you waited.
"And to you, my darlin' niece; welcome home! I'm glad to have you around again" She hummed, the look she had was one that made you feel soft and warm. She walked over to you from her seat, giving you a big hug that you returned. after a moment of holding the tight embrace, she let go and looked to everyone before gesturing to the display of food.
"Alrighty, that's enough talkin, dig in!"

Chapter Text
After eating dinner with everyone, there suprising being barely any food left to even consider them really leftovers- Axe definitely had a large and healthy appetite to him with how he basically ate his plates whole. Your suprised he didn't accidentally eat the plate with how quick he gobbled it up. With that said, atleast he waited for everyone to get what they wanted before helping himself to seconds- then thirds, and so forth. While you ate, between Axe and from what you overheard from the table from your aunt, 'Crooks', those two would watch as you ate. Axe had a focused look as he watched you eat for awhile before leaving you be, and Crooks only watched you for a moment before you started to eat while giving a kind of satisfied look.
Regarding both in that odd bit at dinner, the skeleton that you can literally feel the intensity come from him as he stared at you behind his hood, still seemed to keep his eye on you. A strange thing you noticed was that Noone really seemed to acknowledge him- you never caught his name so far or anything. The most interaction was from whatever silent conversation there was through stares, as after Axe had made sure you were eating, his red eyelight would then stare down at the other before the hooded skeleton would turn and stare back at him. Whatever it was that was about with them was over, Axe went back to eating and the other would start to actually eat quietly.
After dinner, despite some of the skeletons like Blue and Papyrus insisting you go relax, you ended up being able to atleast help with dishes. With you in the kitchen helping you clean the dishes and wiping down the counters was Mutt (ordered to by Black when he caught the end of what you were doing). Blue and Papyrus ended up cleaning up the dining room, aswell as the grill outside. Already five minutes into washing up the dishes and Mutt drying off the dishes after you handed it to him, it just felt- awkward.
After working for another few minutes, you glanced over to the Bluetooth speaker tucked into the corner area beside the coffee maker and the airfryer. Taking a moment to look at Mutt, you nudge your head to the direction of it.
"Heya, would ya mind if I put on some music? Figured it could provide some entertainment" You reasoned. He looked at you, the spatula he was drying off being paused before he gave a shrug.
"I got nothin' against it" He told you, making you give a smile with a nod before walking to the speaker and turning it on. You pulled out your phone next, and against your better judgment- you picked your liked list and put that on shuffle. The first thing that started to play was 'Sonne' By Rammstein. You went back to the dishes as the song played, Mutt didn't seemed to notice, simply focused on the dishes you passed him after you got back to work. Your music taste was mainly in a particular category or rock, alternative, medal- and all the categories that branched from there. There was some, however, some mixed jams that rattled around in your collection, like musicals or game music, fan made or otherwise.
After the end of the first song came, the next beginning; 'In The End' by Linkin Park. Hm, if only the band was still active, it was definitely one you wanted to see live- but, well, if you know you know. You got through more of the dishes, and of course Mutt would quietly polish off what you gave him with no issue. You got down to the last of the dishes, Mutt going ahead and placing what he currently had away so that the counter didn't get so overfilled. The next song to play wasn't in the similar categories as before, something that was bubblegum pop.
The song was of course 'Barbie Girl', a old classic that young you was too naive to understand the true meaning of its lyrics till it was older. For some reason it made you feel embarrassed to hear it play, though here was no reason for it. Maybe because of Mutt? You couldn't imagine the guy willingly listen to this, and he was still very new to you. It be stupid to worry if he'd judge your music and its random throwballs of variety, but hell- over thinking and awkward goes in hand at the worst of times.
You ended up glancing over to him where he was over by the cupboards where he was sorting the dishes, and you can just see his face smile some- it kinda looked like he was holding back a snort from saying something. He ended up looking over to you after some time, seemingly feeling you looking at him. He took a moment to close up the cabinet before her turned to look at you, a amused look on his face. He listened in to the song before lazily shrugging and moving back to work, his face falling back to his neutral expression. The two of you finish up once another song starts, to which you just pause and disconnect the speaker from your phone.
Mutt was something, other then that amused expression he had, for the most part afterwards he remained quiet and seemingly expressionless. Once all was said and done, he left the kitchen and headed elsewhere in the house, leaving you to work through your own devices. Walking out of the kitchen, you took the time to resoak yourself to your environment. Living away from home with little visits in between left a now feeling of nostalgia as you looked over the choice of decorations and photos on the wall. New bits of furniture and pictures were up that weren't here from your last visit from college. It's to assume the bundle of skeletons were the ones that brought in the variety- like the random few bean bags that for the time being in the living room that was stacked in a corner. New coats would aligned the wracks, a framed picture of a bone with a green background? Very skeleton appropriate to you, no bones about it.
Your aunt was one for taking as many pictures as she could, she probably snuck afew already of you earlier playing games with some of the others. She already had pictures printed and framed of some of your new housemates- some easy to tell she snuck when they weren't paying attention. She sure works quick- these skeletons haven't been here too long, right? She probably was trying to make sure they were comfortable and more at home. Your pictures were all still hung up- atleast you think there were all still there. There's soooooo many that it was hard for you to keep in track memory wise if they were in place.
Moving forward, you leave the living room and head down a hallway by the stairwell. You walk down till your met by the door to the den, the flooring dipping down about two steps before you open up the door. The Den was split in in technically two rooms, one more for a relaxed area with a large TV set up and couches and chairs spread around, the second room had kinda been more of a game room- having a pool table aswell as some cheap air hockey table your aunt got at a garage sale- a table tennis board would probably be put up somewhere. Most would consider it a 'man cave', but it's just your aunts style! It was a good place to relax. It helped with parties to have two large TVs such as the living room and then den, gave more choices of things to watch.
Currently in the Den, actually had both Stretch and Red currently occupying the couches. The two were both smoking some cigarettes while playing a multi-player shooter game, you couldn't currently tell which one if it was COD of some sort or something else. Shooters games we're your best games, it's fun- but, old ten year old self would just assume you were good at Black Ops Two Zombie mode because Noone could say the wiser. Your favorite games consists of horror and cozy farm games though, a odd combo but it was your combo.
Red was cursing the absolute shit out of stretch in this game under his breath, his rage growing as his face scrunched and glared at the screen while he continued to retaliate in his determined state. Stretch was calm as he leaned back into the cushion, a shit eating grin as he played so casually as you assumed either he was killing Red constantly in the game, ooooor Red just sucked as bad as you did at these games. It was amusing to watch regardless of what's going on- while Red grew more on edge and angry, Stretch could actually with ease flavor off the ash of his cigarette as he played.
"What the FUCK YA ASSHOLE!!! eat shit 'n DIE- FUCKIN- BITCH!!!" Red yelled, his voice having a growl to it as he yelled. Ok- you can clearly see the AI enemies of the game is what's kicking his ass, so- he was just bad at games. This was hilarious.
"Heh, need savin' again?" Asked Stretch, his smug face just growing as the growling from Red grew. "Yes- fuckin whatever- get me up ya ashtray-!!"
You snorted some from behind them, having moved behind the couch at a point to get a better view of the TV. A bad move you could say, as the noise you made was instantly met by the sudden sting to your nose as a control was suddenly swung and hit you scare in the nose. You stumbled back some as you instantly held her face. You felt suddenly someone grab your arm gently as Stretch voice was heard, aswell as Red's.
"Shit- ya good kid-?" "Why the FUCK were yer sneakin' up on us-?! Fuck sakes-- d-did I hurt ya-?"
"No- I-Its fine- I totally deserved that- heh" You rubbed your nose some, laughing some before looking at the two skeletons in front of you that let themselves relaxed some. Red slumped back against the couch with a hand running over his skull as Stretch leaned over the back of the couch with a arm draped behind it. Both sides of the split screen gameplay showed death screens during this time.
You move around and sit on another couch to the left of them, leaning against the arm rest as you look to them. "Anyways, is this just not your forte Red, ooooor ya just new to the game?" You asked, the other skeleton grumbling some before Stretch grinned again.
"He just sucks at it, nothin else to it" He said, the joy in telling you that clear in his tone. The glare he recieved from the other just made you give a small snicker.
"Ah, well- I'm not the best at it either in these types of games, I'm more Stardew Valley or DBD or just- yeah" You explained, giving a shrug as Stretch took a drag of his cigarette- Red's long since fallen apart and dusting the bowl of the ash tray on the table after wacking you with the controller- you assumed atleast.
"Nice, my bro would probably like to start a world with you with Stardew, probably rattled on about the best way to set up a farm, best farm map ya choose, the works" he says, giving some lazy jazz hands.
"Heh, sounds fun then, just as long as he dosent fight me to marry Sebastian, I'll think we'll be a great duo" You tell him, Red snorting some.
"The emo boy? That yer type, or Somethin'?" He asks, raising a bone brow as he snickered some. You gave a shrug before answering.
"I mean, maybe? I like alot of different traits, and in the game, the DnD, edgy, motorcycle riding romantic is my favorite guy to get with, though iiiiiiif of the giiiiiirls, it's definitely Leah or Abigail- I dunno, sometimes I may just wanna roomie with Krobus"
"You'd seriously even go for sewer shadow person?"
"He's a sweetheart!"
---
And from that point on, the discussion, teasing, and debates of things starting from Stardew would move to other games of shared interest, to then finally Stretch kicking both yours aswell as Red's ass at the game they were playing when you wandered in. It was later now, almost 9 at night when you left the Den and headed out towards the living room. Your original plan was to turn off at the stairs and head to your room- but those plans changed when Papyrus, Blue would spot you.
"MISS Y/N!! What Perfect Timing!! We Were About To Go Search For You! Would You Like To Join Us And Watch Some Movies With Us?!" Blue asked, smiling to you from his spot on the couch. Papyrus was currently holding the TV remote as he added.
"We Could Use Your Help Deciding On What Film To Watch! We're Simpling Stumped!"
You hummed some, thinking it over abit before giving them a smile.
"Sure, why not? Show me whatcha got so far!"
Notes:
I finally had the time to write more- and finally give yall another chapter!! I started a good chunk of this back in July, but it's been so hectic and busy- I'll start us off next chapter with movie time, but for nooooow, here ya go! Hopefully you'd enjoyed!
Chapter Text
After getting invited to join, you had went up to your room to go ahead and get changed into your pjs- which consisted of a band shirt from a concert you saw about a year or two back with a pair of fuzzy pajama pants. Collecting yourself two body pillows and a throw blanket from your nest you call a bed, you made your way downstairs. Upon arriving in the living room, it seems Sans had joined and got himself comfortable on one of the beanbag chairs. Blue and Papyrus were already looking over the options on a random streaming service on the couch. You simply plopped your items on the floor against one of the ends of the couch before sitting down and getting your pillows in position for comfort, leaning your head back slightly against the couch.
"So, still looking things over?" You hummed, watching as they highlighted over different movies, glancing over the little description of the movies as quickly as you could before the two behind you would move onto the next one. From the looks of it, they were just in the suggestions bar, not in any particular genre.
"Yes- We Can't Seem To Decide On Anything Quite Yet! May You Take A Look?" Papyrus asked, handing the remote down to you, which you go ahead and take.
"Well, any specific genres we wanting to look at? We want comedy, action, horror- what's the majority interest?" You questioned, glancing back at the two skeletons.
"Well, What We Seen Under 'Comedy' Isn't Anything Funny At All! Nothing But Crude Jokes and Puns- No, Anything Else Would Be Better!" Blue said, shaking his head.
"Someone lacks a funny bone" Sans says, grinning lazily as the other two gave him a look. "Brother, Don't Start! Save Your Bad Humor For The Others!" Papyrus said, shaking his head at the other.
"Okiiiie, comedy out, what else?" You had moved on from the suggestions bar and over to the actual categories. You had skipped over to the action selections; you can see some John Wick, spy, mafiosa styled ones- alit of these you've seen but weren't all engaged in. You can hear afew more puns and scoldings happening aside you but you were focused on the task.
"Actions looking on the same as always side, which isn't very interesting, I'm abit bias though" You added, shrugging your shoulders.
"Oh! Mayhaps We Can Watch One Of Mettaton's Films! He's Made Quite A Good Few Since On The Surface!" Papyrus says excitedly, already going to the shelves where the movies, games, and whatnots were stored.
"Hm, i suppose that works, I haven't actually got to see any of the movies you guys brought of from the underground, nor any of the current ones- so, whatcha got to pick?" You hummed, sitting up abit more from your spot as Papyrus brought out afew different movie choices.
"You Haven't Seen Any Of Them-?! What About The Music? Surely You've heard The Works Of Napstation-?!" Blue asks, seeming suprised and baffled by the confession.
You shook your head at the questions. With how much you worked back in college, you didn't give much time to indulge in anything for your enjoyment. With no breaks for enjoyment, it's no wonder you kinda crashed and burned to a crisp and just ended up hating where you were taking yourself.
"I haven't- but, tonight's a start for anything, yeah?"
"Well Of Course! Let's Get You Intruduced To The Undergrounds GREATEST STARS!!" Papyrus, getting louder in his excitement it would seen. The two skeletons were notable to you do far to lean more towards the higher speaking tones, but atleast they were trying not to seemingly yell at your early request. You may just have to suit for leaving them be, they weren't too loud after all.
It took the three of you- not counting Sans as he was being so helpful in just agreeing to each suggestion between his brother and Blue. The two couldn't decide between eachother on whether to have you watch the drama-action filled movie involving forbidden love between a robot- Mettaton- and a 'human'. The human in question was apparently also, shocking- Mettaton himself. Apparently it was made back in the underground, so while you wanted to make a joke on how he was pulling some Markipler stunting for his movies- the three you feared wouldn't understand. Another movie night perhaps.
Blues suggestion was a movie that was made with both Mettaton and Napstation. This one had a more comical description about it, but considering it was on the playings of the two being in a mafia as two rookies buildings to be some goofy looking mob bosses- it was something. You finally just suggested a one round game of 'rock paper scissors' that ended in Papyrus winning.
While Papyrus put the movie on, Blue had gotten some popcorn made for the four of you. You can notice Sans was already cozying up in his bean bag and just ready to fall asleep before anything was to start. You were settled yourself in you spot, tempted to mess with the lounging skeleton.
"ARE WE READY MISS Y/N?" Papyrus asks, his sweet smile on his face full of excitement. You laughed abit at his cuteness as you gave a nod. "I'm ready, go for it big guy"
Blue settled beside you on the floor as Papyrus hit play on the movie, himself sitting on the couch with his legs crossed up in his seat. With the movie in play, you relax in your nested spot as you stare up at the flat screen, popping some buttered popcorn in your mouth. While you had mentally pictured this to be like one of Mark's interactive movies, it wasn't entirely in comical depth with detail as the other. The acting felt abit overdramtic in the actual 'drama' part of it, but hearing Papyrus explain things to you as you watch, you can understand that. This was one of Mettatons first movies when he was a rising star, natural he's not perfect.
While there was a interesting part with chainsaws on the screen, you glanced back up to Sans. Of course he looked asleep, quite comfy looking mind you as he sunk in his place with his arms behind his head. You looked with a smile as a playful thought came to mind. You took a piece of your popcorn before tossing it up and it landing on his skull. What you thought was a sleeping skeleton cracked an eye open, his already relax smiling widening before he flicked the piece into his mouth.
And this, is how a random game of you tossing popcorn at Sans and hoping it lands in his mouth or on his head started. Blue would at some point beside you would actually notice the shenanigans and give you two a baffled look.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING??"
"Feeding Sans" You said, a smile on your face as Sans shrugs. "A great help really, was feeling too tired to do it myself"
"BROTHER, IT IS NO WORK AT ALL TO FEED YOURSELF, MISS Y/N, DONT ENCOURAGE HIM!!" Papyrus said, making you laugh some. "Sorry, Papyrus, no more toss up Sans" "eh, 's cool" he says casually. You lay on back as now there's lasers?
"OH!! I LOVE THIS PART!!"
---
You start to wake up as there was a sudden flash and click heard that had you opening your previously sleep induced eyes. You much have fallen asleep after one of the few movies you and the others were watching, as the light from the sun outside lit up the room through the plum colored curtains. It's suprising you didn't wake up sooner as the sound of movement in the kitchen, aswell as the smell of something absolutely heaven wafted through the air. Your groggy eyes focused back to the grinning woman standing over you with a camera in her hands. Of course, your aunt never missed a moment with that thing.
"Rise and shine! Don't you look cozy Ducky" your aunt mused. You gave her a confused look as you tried to sit up; try a key word. Apparently you didn't notice, probably used to the warm feeling of the other skeleton aside you curled up at your back with his arms circled around you. You looked at the still sleeping Blue, holding in a snort as seeming light drool ran down his slightly open mouth. Skeletons drooled??
"Hmp, mornin Rena" You just said casually in your tired tone, stretching your limbs some- which caused Blue to shift and pull you closer. You truly didn't mind the position of the cute skeleton, either because of his cuteness or the fact you just woke up, who knows. Regardless, you just carefully lifted his arms off of you as you sat up properly. The small skeleton whined some before finding a body pillow, and curling up with that.
Standing up from your message of pillows and blankets, Papyrus and Sans seemed to have already got up and had went elsewhere, your aunt just smiling with her camera still in hand. "Your such a stalker Rena, always taking pictures of people asleep" You teased. She was a real mom with her picture obsession- the amount of pictures of you and old friends in the back seat of her car asleep a particular picture theme she kept.
"Oh hush! I thought it was cute! Glad to see you and the boys are getting along, getting all cuddly Ducky" She teased, making you roll your eyes. "Oh hush, we just fell asleep" you told her, shaking your head. You were far too used to your aunts teasing.
"Alriiiight, whatever you say, breakfast is getting made" She tells you, leaning down over to Blue as she shook him. "Morning Sweetie, time to get up"
You smiled as you watched as Blue started to wake up, rubbing at his eye sockets as he sat up with a yawn. "MM, MISS SERENA? WHAT TIME IS IT?" "Time for breakfast Pumpkin, Edge has a spread made, want to set plates?" Rena asks, she was so gentle with the skeleton. Blue would smile before giving a enthusiastic nod, getting himself off the floor before heading towards the dining room.
"Oh, so you tease me and not him, how wounded I feel" you joked dramatically, smiling as you picked up your pillows and blankets to put away first.
"Oh no, the others will surely be doing that, both Sans and Stretch already took some pictures, I think you both will get a tease or two" she snickered, walking herself off to the direction where Blue went as you shook your head some. Well, you weren't too bothered at the moment, your brain may elsewise later.
After putting your things away, you got yourself dressed in some more casual where aside your pjs; putting on a pair of faded jean shorts and a 'Bad Flower' band shirt. It was a cute shirt really- a kinda pastel green-blue color with the band name, with a cat and alien on the front. You got it at a rock festival afew years back- where alot of your shirts come from. After making yourself more presentable, you descend back downstairs to the dining room.
Breakfast definitely was a wonderful sight, as there were afew different things you saw on display on the dining table. There were egg omelets on each plate already, but waffles of different fruit mixes, with bacon and cinnamon buttered pull apart bread was all for the taking. There was also these fluffy looking yellow muffins with bacon, sausage, and melted cheese in a pile sitting on a tray. Having just gotten up earlier, you were more then ready to chow down.
Taking yourself a seat, you can notice there wasn't as many plates set out as there was at dinner. With a raised eye, you look to Edge, who was the only one in the dining room after Blue went to get the others, and your aunt probably doing the same.
"Hey uh, Edge? Why is there not as many plates set up?" You asked, the skeleton narrowing his eyes towards you. "NOT THAT ITS ANY OF YOUR BUSINESS, BUT A DECENT AMOUNT OF THE OTHERS HAVE WORK OR ERRANDS TO ATTEND TO" he informed you, in seemingly a annoyed tone.
"Ah- understood, what does everyone do?" You questioned, trying to have some sort of conversation as you gently apply food to your plate. Everything did look so tasty.
"HMP, BLACK IS A LAWYER, BLUE IS STILL UNDERGOING THE POLICE ACADEMY, WHILE PAPYRUS HAS SUCCEEDED IN WORKING AT THE LOCAL STATION. AFEW OF THE OTHERS WORK NONSENSICAL THINGS, OR NOTHING AT ALL CURRENTLY" he tells you, huffing with a scowl.
You gave a nod, putting a piece of the pull apart bread in your mouth and having your physical body melt at the taste. So warm and sweet- "Oh sweet stars- are-are you a chef or baker-? Because- this is good- really good-" you tell him, smiling happily as you took bites of different things while giving quite the exited reaction at each delicious bite. The edgy skeleton in question seemed to scoff at the compliment, though a dusting of red was on his cheeks.
"WELL OF COURSE THEY ARE! I, THE OH GREAT AND TERRIBLE, MADE THEM! FEAST ON MY WORK, BE GREATFUL YOU COULD BE ALLOWED TO HAVE ANY!" He tells you, causing a laugh from you as others started to arrive. "Yes, I am so-soooo greatful, supper yummy, Chef" You hummed. Mutt and Stretch came in together, neither seemingly morning people as Stretch leaned on the table some while Mutt leaned back with his hood over his skull. Following came Blue and Red to the table, Blue full of bright happy energy as Red contrasted with a grumpy exhausted look. Not alot of morning people at the table. The last arriving was Sans and your Aunt, aswell as coming through the sliding glass door quietly was the hooded skeleton from dinner last night.
With everyone taking a seat, Blue and Mutt at your sides as Edge was across, the rest sprawled out some as they gathered their food. You were abit too focused on your food to note the feeling of eyes on you once again creep up your senses. While eating, Stretch glanced over at you and Blue, a grin on his face. "So, how'd you two sleep last night, hmm?" He hummed, you glanced to him as you shoved more of the omelet in your mouth.
"Was good" You hummed, Blue smiling happily. "INDEED! WHILE THE FLOOR WASNT IDEAL, I HONESTLY FEEL REFRESHED! YOU SHOULD OF JOINED US FOR MOVIES!" he told his brother, who's smiled stayed the same.
"Nah, next time bro, though ya don't say? Must of had a comfy pillow" he mused, taking a bite of a waffle as he glanced to you. "OH, WELL I DID WAKE UP WITH ONE OF MISS Y/NS PILLOWS! IT WAS VERY SOFT!" The sweet skeleton told, your aunt laughing as she listened in. Stars, bully's, the lot of em- and Blues totally oblivious, what a cutie.
You shook your head some, playfully rolling your eyes as Sans chuckled some aswell. "You weren't just hugging onto her pillow bud" he informed Blue, who gave a quizzable look. "HUH? WHAT DO YOU MEAN?" He asks, leaving you to just go ahead and stop letting them drag this on.
"You were cuddling up on me Blue, that's what their talking about" You hummed, looking over at the skeleton as he looked back at you. His face brighten up in a soft blue color as he stuttered. "OH, I-I'M SO SORRY MISS Y/N!! I HOPE TO NOT MAKE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE--" He said, seeming to panic as you just gave him a smile. "It's fine Blue, it didn't bother me any. I'm kinda a cuddler too, so I get it" You assured.
"Mmmm, can always cuddle up with me if ya wanted Sweetheart" Red said with a grin, before his brother smacked him on the back of the head. "I WILL NOT HAVE YOUR SAD EXCUSES FOR FLIRTING RUIN MY MEAL" He scowled, a small snort leaving you as Red rubbed the back of his skull with a frown as Stretch looked amused. Red caught sight of this, and threw him the bird silently. Blue had relaxed after afew more words of assurance. Mutt sat quietly aside you the whole time, his focused from the bouts of conversation on the only quiet one at the table.
---
After breakfast was eaten, you once again volunteered to do the dishes, there only being the plates and food trays as Edge seemed to have kept up with his dishes as he cooked. You had thanked him for the food again, which he of course told you again how of course it was. He was abit egotistical, but you found it a interesting interaction when you two conversed. The others had dispersed elsewhere as you washed up the dirty dishes. The only skeleton that lingered was the one you still have yet to get a name! Noone again seem to speak to him- was he a ghost or something? Regardless, while he was faced away from you outside on the back patio, smoking a cigarette from the looks of it, you still had the feeling of being watched.
It was odd really, but you just felt paranoid at this rate. While you washed things up, 'Korn' was playing on the speaker in the corner. Gotta love Spotify shuffle as the end of 'Coming Undone' ended, and 'The Optimist' by 'Ten years' followed up. You were just finishing up the last of the soapy warm dishes as you sang along quietly to the music, drying them off as you glanced back out the back door. Suddenly you can see the skeleton crouched down, seemingly looking down at something. Wondering what it could be, and wanting to actually know his name- you placed down your damp dish and walked to the door.
When the sound of the door slid open, the skeleton snapped his hooded head in your direction, looking tense before seeming to relax slightly. You can now see why he was crouched down, as while he held his cigarette bud in one hand- a grayish blue cat was rubbing up on his other gloved hand. The cat looked so sweet- haven't a blue collar with crescent moons and stars on it, along with a dark blue bell and bright red tag hanging off it. You awed at the cute thing as it looked overvat you before chirping at you afew times. Your poor heart melted purely as it moved from the skeleton to you, rubbing up on your legs.
"Awww!! What a sweetheart you are- are they your cat?" You asked, glancing back at the skeleton as he seem to stub out his cigarette, the bottom half of his skull showing, yet he stayed quiet as he stared in your direction. You simply petted the cat as you waited, before his deep, gruff voice spoke up.
"...yeah, got him at one of the shelters" he told you, in turn you gave a smile as the little fuzz ball chirped and yelled at you in his cute cat language. "I see, whatcha name him?" You continued, tilting your head some. You had a list of names for the day you ever had time to get a cat, sorted by color. This baby, if yours- could of been a Hades, Husker, N-
"Nox.. named him Nox" he said, having your eyes widen some at the coincidence. "Really? That's one of the names I would have picked! Uh- from my little list atleast, but- yeah! Nox; a chatty kitty of the night" You continued on, looking back down at Nox. While you smiled at the fuzzbal, you missed the small smile under his hood as he watched before you asked the skeleton your more important question. "Oh! I never got your name- what is it?"
"...it's Dust"
Notes:
Totally not finishing this at almost 5 in the morning *cough cough*
Anyways! Been a hot ass minute- literally couldn't stand myself not writing when I've LITERALLY been dreaming of the ideas I have for this. For my absence, I give you a longer chaper- hope you all enjoyed, and happy belate new years!! ♡♡♡
Chapter Text
It's been about a week since you returned home to the cozy tomb of skeletons, with their grave keeper being your Aunt. You never really rememberd her ever having it this full of people at once in your years living here, not even the amout of friends you used to think was alot made this place seemed so full- abd apparently there was ALOT more! You couldn't grasp it, really- this was such a big family of skeletons, it definitely kept things interesting. For now, the fun and uniqueness of everything remained as it was with the current household of skeletons.
You've grown to a routine with everyone in the house, having meals with your aunt and the skeletons which you've taken the duty of continuing to cover the dish work despite afew protests. It was the least you could do as you mostly remained at the house with no other responsibilities at hand. You've taken to helping with afew if the simple daily chores, Edge won't let you assist with cooking any though when asked. One day you'll get to say you made a meal with his grumpy ass.
While getting yourself comfortable with the arrangements of things, you have been applying to jobs in town, aswell as the neighboring city that's about a 20- 30 minute drive on the highway give or take, less if you speed and know the speed trap spots that you totally didn't know anything about. It's strange to have the amount of free time that you did currently, it had to be ages since you chilled out and not throw yourself into studying or work. You atleast weren't the only ones home majority of the time- Edge was a suprising example of that. If the grump had a job, he must leave at the dead of night, but no; he stayed home and handled all the meal prep and cooking, aswell as cleaning up the common area.
There was also afew others, such as Mutt, Dust, Horror, and Crooks. Mutt you can't say you ever seen him out much from his room, outside of seemingly getting food or other whatnots. Horror actually managed the yawns and maintenance of the property- aswell as you've noticed a garden closer out towards the second house. He and Crooks kept to the other household more often, joining for meals, but from you heard- would only really leave was for doctors appointments the two had.
Dust you saw, but haven't had much of a conversation with since. You could find him outside for a smoke throughout the day, at meals, and honestly just around at random times. Axe would at times seem to have a conversation with him when the two were outside, though you never went to interrupt. His cat Nox was now frequently in the house, mostly following you around and demanding attention and cuddles from you at any given time. Hopefully the hooded skeleton didn't mind his cats attention deterred from him, but he hasn't went to you about it.
After apply to another handful of jobs in the area from the comfort of your bed, you stretched yourself out as you wandered out of your space and mingled downstairs. Papyrus and Blue from your memory was once again at work, and asides your Aunt being out- the remaining household was around. With walking out of your room, you almost immediately tripped on a awaiting feline that had oh-so been waiting for you outside your door. Nox would also then immediately meow and chirp up at you while rubbing up against your. He was quite the needy thing.
Heading downstairs was a challenge, you having to weeve around the lil shit that kept trying to get in the way of your steps as you made it to the living room. You really didn't travel yourself far before finally giving into Nox's need for attention, taking a seat on the couch and letting the cat jump up beside you. Nox would bump your hands as you moved to pet him, he would purr between talking up at you. He really was a sweet little kitty. You curled up on the couch as Nox climbed up on your chest and layed down, letting your fingers move to pet and run through his fur.
As you relaxed in the comfort of silence with nothing but you and Nox, suddenly the feeling of the couch sinking by your feet grabs your attention. You glanced up from your slouched back position to see Stretch leaned back on the other corner, a leg propped up on the couch that was comfortable sitting in the space by your legs as he halfway faced you. He had a sucker seemingly in his mouth by the looks of it, and he gives you a lazy wave with a grin on his face.
"Sup, I see you and the cute minion of darkness being cozy" he said, glancing down at Nox, you giving him a shrug. "What can I say? He's a sweetie, all he wants is lovins" You hummed, gently patting at the loaf of fluff.
"Fair enough, er, Dust usually kept him in the other house, he's cute but has a knack of breaking curtain rods"
"Well he's a cat, he climbs on stuff, just gotta either train him not to or get the stuff to deter him- like this one spray stuff they sell at Walmart" You tell him, and he simply shrugs at you.
"Regardless, Black ain't a fan of this one, and Red hates his bros cat" You looked back at him, raising an eye. "He has a cat?? Where??" You havent seen any other pets around, did he also keep his own cat in the other house? Stretch laughed some as he tilted his head some.
"You haven't seen Doomfanger? He's a menace to everyone but Edge, he's a spoiled fluffy white ball of bratty behavior. I'd think you'd have seen him by now, but I dunno, Edgy could be keeping him in his room" he shrugged again, meanwhile Nox had been bumping your hand with his head since you had stopped petting him briefly.
"Huh- nope, honestly though, I can definitely see him with a cat like that, he has the potential to be a super villain taking over the world, just petting a fluffy being as he rattles off his evil plan" you said, already imaging the scene. It was a pretty cartoonish thought in your head. Stretch snorted some at the description, probably thinking of how silly it would be.
"Stick around him more, you have no idea how true that is" he mused, and you give the skeleton a nod. You still had plenty to know about the skeletons as a whole, so it'll only be a matter of time before you got them mapped out atleast as a slightly more detailed listing or category. The two of you talked awhile more, afew puns throwned here or there but for the most part, the conversation was casual before he went off to apparently join a gaming session he had planned with a group of his friends.
That left you back with yourself, Nox having ran off at one point to who knows where. That left you needing something to do once again, leaving the couch and heading outside into the backyard to see if a currently skeleton was back out there. Just as expected, Axe was out, tending to the garden that was kept towards the second house. He was a intimatingly larger skeleton amongst the others, but gods he was such a cute dork! He wore alot of subtle Sanrio type shirts or sweat pants. Currently he had on another shirt that was white with Keroppi- the frog character on it. He had some green garden gloves and a sun hat on aswell.
Walking up, it didn't take him long to seemingly know you were there as he had turned his head to look at you from under the hat, his single red eyelight staring at you as you gave a wave. From the brief glance, you can see a mix of peppers and tomatoes with your current point of view.
"Heya! Working hard i see?" You asked, giving him a smile as you walked beside him. He gave a nod, standing up to pay more attention towards you. He adjusted the hat back as you stepped aside him. "Hm, your always out here i feel like, what all are you growing?" You questioned, looking over the wide area filled about. He didn't answer you, which you noticed he didn't talk too much. It was fine, hopefully you two can warm up more together.
"Hmm, peppers, tomatoes, cabbage- you look to have alot, you like having alot of fresh food items. Ever been to the farmers market? I'd think you'd like it there- we usually have a set up in town by the square on the weekends" you talked, and he seemed to think some before answering you.
"...haven't been.. have 'ta think on it..." he said slowly, still looking to be in thought in some way. Regardless, you gave him a nod, giving some possible loose plans he can mull over. "Alrighty, well if you do, me and you can always go! So, just let me know, m'kay?" You hummed, and he once again nodded.
From this point, you let him go back to his gardening as seeing as that what he was still working on before you came up. You sat out for awhile back by the porch of the main house, just relaxing as you got some fresh air. You stared out at the view of the fields of land, and the woods that edged around the property that splitted between your home and the neighbors property lines.while drifting into your own thoughts, something could be felt stepping and laying on your lap. Thinking it was just Nox, you start to pet at what's there, only to be met with a much thicker feeling of fur.
...Your then met as you look down, the glamorous being that was Doomfanger, who.. is currently using you as his new thrown with eyes that screamed 'King'.
Notes:
Alrighty! I was honestly thinking of putting more in this chapter, but instead I'll save more for later.
Another thing! I wrote the first chapter to another story! I plan on that one being more darker and having possibly heavier themes. If interested, have a peek!
Chapter 7: Oh no, people-
Summary:
Plenty of interactions from.. everyone!

Chapter Text
The happy white fluffy loaf that sat on you sure gave off a presence that you can only pinpoint as something akin to someone with a ego. It's strange really, was this cat a king or spoiled kid in a past life? Regardless, you've been stuck for close to an hour in your seat- something you've only got an idea at glimpses at the time, as if you stopped petting- someone would dig their claws in and stare up at you with such intense eyes. While before you found it surprising Edge has a cat- you can definitely tell he must love the damn thing, he's so spoiled!
...Though, your not exactly telling him no yourself currently. He's a cute little tyrant! You can't only love on Nox, you got plenty of hands to give pets with! You can only wonder when you can actually get up and him not be mad about it. Letting out a sigh, you just continue to be the cat loving person you are and work your fingers over his fur to hear the rewards of his purrs. Are has sense went out of view from where he was in his garden, having gone back into the secondary housing while you look off into the view.
The sliding glass door opened beside you, and you happened to glance over as Edge looms over you with his arms crossed. "THERE YOU ARE! WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO HIM!? MUST YOU HOLD HIM CAPTIVE?!"
You looked to him, then Doomfanger, then up to him. "Uh, your cats been holding me hostage, I've uh.. been here an hour? Just- petting him- he doesn't like it when I stop--" You've explained, only to be given a glare.
"IT PROBABLY BECAUSE YOUR ALSO SOFT AND WARM, FLESHY HUMAN- I DEMAND YOU RELEASE HIM AT ONCE!!" "Release your cat? I'm not even holding him-" "YOU ARE, REMOVE YOUR HANDS FROM HIM!"
You sigh, holding your hands up for him to see. Doomfanger did as he did before, digging his claws down and looking back to you with a glare to match Edges. What, is this greedy king actually his son or something? So alike.. regardless, your slowly being inpaled with his claws before the ball of fluff stands up, stretching out before jumping off your lap. Doomfanger then walks in what appears to be nothing but confidence and arrogance as he struts back inside the house. Your then left with Edge, as well as your clothes deeply coated in white fur.
"Well, there you go? He's uh- been released?" You stated with a questioned tone. You didn't qualify yourself as a cat-napper, but clearly the tall skeleton said otherwise.
"HMP, AS IVE WITNESSED. REFRAINED FROM MY OWN WEAPON OF DESTRUCTION AND STICK TO THE FELINE IN DUSTS CARE, YOU ARE ONLY NEEDED TO BOTHER ONE AT THIS TIME" he stated, uncrossing his arms as he turns back to the door. "DINNERS IN AFEW, DO NOT BE LATE HUMAN, YOUR PLATE WILL NOT BE SAVED FOR EVERY GIVEN MEAL I COOK, UNDERSTAND?"
You stared at him to this, briefly answering with a nod. "I can do that- sorry if I've been late before? I'll be a dinner" You weren't really sure what to say to that. Maybe you accidentally disrespected him in a way? Can't exactly argue with the chef of the house, just got to play by the rules he's setting, even if it's a little strict.
He kept his sockets glared to you before nodding, and without another word he turned to leave as a thought came to mind. "OH! Actually- can I get your number-? Just for in case I can't make it to dinner or if I do run late, I can tell you?" It seemed reasonable, you'll intend to be working as soon as possible, gotta have more lines of communication than your aunt. He stilled, and you notice a.. tint of red over some of his skull you can see in the Sideview. He seemingly thought on it before he actually seemed to smile- in such a way someone seeming accomplished would.
"I THOUGHT YOUD NEVER ASK! YES, FINE- YOU MAY AQUIRE MY NUMBER! DO NOT WASTE THE PRIVILEGE, FOR I AM SO GREAT. JUST KNOW IF NOT FOR SUCH A IMPORTANT REASON, YOU WOULD NOT HAVE IT TILL YOU WOULD HAVE BEGGED! NOW HAND ME YOUR DEVICE!"
You had to suppress a laugh from how egotistical he sounded, taking no time to pull your phone out and having your contacts open. The two of you exchanging number before he seemingly happy self returned back inside. You have a feeling you made of strangely made his day- what made him so happy, you had to wonder. Regardless, you left him be to enjoy himself.
While sitting outside, your phone began to ring. You took a moment to look over the caller ID before picking up, leaning back in your seat. "Hello?"
"Hi, is this Ms. Y/N? I'm the hiring manger over at Fort Worth Walmart?" Hearing this, you gave a small smile. Finally! Getting a response up in here!
---
Mrs. Cooper had called on regards to your application, and after a brief conversation, you had gotten ready and quickly made the five minute drive over. It was weird to get to drive your old truck again after so long- it seemed to have had some fixes to it while you were gone, did your aunt do that? It wouldn't surprise you any if she did, it's a decently old pick up- an old 1999 Dodge Dakota to be abit exact. It wasn't pretty with its chipped paint, or to some- the squeaks is makes, but it's yours.
The store was nice and close by, one of the smaller super centers in the area. It's the same one you worked at years prior, so you have a understanding and experience in the job. Wasn't going to be anything fancy- just a simple cashiers position- which you'll still earn 14$ an hour, better then the other jobs you applied for. Having walked pasted the parking lot, you headed inside and went to the service desk that was right next to the carts load area. Looking to a older ladie with curled brown hair and tanned skin, she looked at you expectingly- Bailey was on her name tag.
"Hello! I'm here for a interview with Mrs. Cooper?" You inform, giving a small smile. Bailey picks up a walkie before speaking to you, having a lower tone southern accent. "If you just go back passed the shoe isle and wait on a bench, she'll be out to collect you" she said, motioning in a direction.
With a thanks, you head off- knowing exactly where you were going. It didn't take long before your old hiring manager that hired you out ages before. She was a older woman who was short with straight white hair, pale skin and a sweet smile across her wrinkled face. She was always amazing, she was great at remembering everything and there schedules that she personally was in charge of dispite there being about over a hundred and fifty employees normally in the store. You would stand as she walked up, keeping your own smile as you both echanged a hug.
"It's good seeing you again ms. L/n, come on back" She said, pulling away before leading you on back to the room where her office shared where group orientation would be held. Taking a seat at the long table in the room, computers behind you, she had the paperwork with the usual need for your social and ID information would be down for background checks. She sat across from you, sliding the clipboard of paperwork for you to the side.
"We'll go ahead and skip the usual questions and explaining of the job, as your hired regardless- that was already agreed upon amongst the managers and I on the matter. For now- were going to catch up before we file that flimsy paperwork" she told you, her soft smile showing worth to you. You gave a small laugh before the catch up began. You forgot how much the others had liked you here.
---
Welp, you were held hostage by more then just Mrs. Cooper, from other old co-workers to friends of your aunt catching you in the wild more then a wild pokemon in tall grass that you are just trying to get home! The warm welcomes and gossips of everyone in or related to others in this area seems to never quit even as you left. People you graduated with either are already married, has kids, been divorced, or seems to be living it up in college life. You probably knew more about the people around town and down to their kids and then their kids then you do your own roommates!! You were, needless to say- tired. Finally driving back home, you can only hope Edge wouldn't be planning your demise in the most deadly of fashions, have it that you end up late.
Pulling up into your spot on the lot, you hop on out and and as your doing a jog to the door, your just repeatedly hitting the lock button on your key fob till you hear the satisfactory sounds of three beeps. Taking your sorry butt through the door, your lucky enough to apparently make it to dinner as everyone else was rounded up to their places at the table- running up as Mutt was coming down the stares. The two of you looked at eachother, you giving a wave while he seemed to just look blank currently.
"Dinnertime, yeah-? I'm not late-?" You ask, motioning towards the dining room. He tilts his head that way before nodding, and walking in the direction. You can't say your sure, but- he seemed tired-? Who knows. With the important information given, you follow behind. Others were at the table, leaving you to quickly find a seat beside Dust and Blue. Speaking of Blue- he must of came home to dinner as soon as he got off, as he still had on his police uniform and in all its glory! The usually happy and cheerful skeleton would look towards you, and seem so pouty for some reason-
"HUMAN!! YOU GAVE YOUR NUMBER TO EDGE BEFORE I?! I THOUGHT WE WERE FAR CLOSER!!" He would seemingly whine, leaving you looking at him and just doing afew blinks. "Eh?" "HUMAN!!" Oh boy, he's serious. You give him a apologetic smile, going to speak before Edge himself interrupted.
"WELL CLEARLY I AM HELD IN MORE HIGH REGARD! SHE WOULD SHARE HER CONTACT INFORMATION WITH ME FOR THE IMPORTANTS OF MY SERVICES AND COMMUNICATION THEN WITH THE LIKES OF YOU!" Oh Stars.
"WHAT!?! THAT CANNOT BE TRUE!! WE HAVE BONDED MORE THEN SHE HAS WITH YOU!! WE PLAYED GAMES HER FIRST DAY- WE HAD A MOVIE NIGHT ACTIVITIES!!" "You also cuddled with her, Bro" Orange added, grinning as his brother grew to his namesake.
"WELL!! YES-- SO THERE!! CLEARLY I HOLD BETTER IN FAVOR HERE!!" "OH AS IF!!"
"Guys-- i just-- noone is better then the other here--" You try to intervene, Red letting out a snort before shaking his head. "Nah, let em hash it out, it's funn'er that way, dinner and a show" he snickered, which only made you shake your head with a sigh.
"WE ARE NOT TO BE FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT!! IM ENDING THIS, IM CLEARLY ADMIRED MORE, STICK IT TO YOURSELF, BLUE--" "FALSE- LIES AND SLANDER!! IF ANYONE IS IN HIGH FAVOR ITS ME--"
"GUYS!!! Stars-- Noone is any higher favor here-- Blue, please hand me your phone-" You insisted after interrupting them. Red would 'boo' you as there were afew snickers across the table. Blue would look at you before quickly pulling his phone out of one of his pockets. Taking it, you quickly add in your contact, keeping it simple and putting your name in before handing it back.
"There-- now, if anyone else wants it, either Blue or Edge- heck, even Auntie can give it to you, mkay? Noone is withheld" you huffed, sinking back in your seat. Blue would smile brightly before hugging you, giving a tight squeeze. "OH THANK YOU Y/N!! I UNDERSTAND!!" He thanked you. You hug him back with a nod, too people drained for much else.
Dinner from there went about more smoothly, and once free, you would go to your room for some isolated recharge- and then, to pass out and sleep for the night. It was a good day, exhausting, but.. good.

Chapter 8: Night Throwbacks and Dance Party for two
Chapter Text
The sound of crickets played faintly outside your window, it would be the first thing you noticed as you awoke. Next was the warmth and comfort you felt as you layed curled in your bed, layers of covers and blankets around you in knots from your tossing and turning. Your room was dark, but you can see the outlines of all things familiar that made your room yours. From the bookcase filled with plushes and books aplenty, your clothes from hours before lazily thrown on a chair instead of the laundry basket. You would sit up, wiping away the tears from your face that had ran down while you slept.
Nightmares, such wonderful things. Youd think coming back home would have helped by now, but it seems to be a lingering issue. You've had the same dreams before, yet it's been afew years since the last one. Its infuriating, how old memories continue to persist even when the original events occurred. You've healed, had your therapy, had your time to be someplace else to try and discovery yourself- only.. thats not what you truly did.
Sliding out of bed, you sat in the floor, pulling out the box thats always there. The memories- the evidence that it was real. You took a moment to pull it onto your bed, turning on your bedside lamp as she looked through the box. You pull the same jacket thats there, holding it close and pressing your face into the faded fabric. You remembered crying when his smell was gone from the clothes in this box, the total meltdown that ended in you becoming a ugly crying mess as you clung to it all tightly.
You were afraid, a child afraid of losing the ability to remember your brother as time grew, from his smell, to his face. You never wanted to forget, you still cling onto his memory like a form of security. His death, the sacrifice he made for you, impacted you in so many ways. Its why you wanted to work hard- be someone that can save people too, to hopefully be someone your brother could of been proud of. Though let's be real, he would of wanted you to do things that made you happy, not out of any obligations to living on for you both. Was it selfish in some way? Or was it tedious sacrifice on your dime? Did thst make you a bad person to try, then give up when you couldn't handle it? Stars- leave it for you spiraling over a stupid dream.
You needed fresh air, maybe a good scream into the woods, but that was only funny a handful of times during Halloween. You'll never forget the laugh you had spooking those collage students those many years ago. It wasnt on purpose, but youd totally do it again for that chaos. Aunty maybe not so much- off topic! You put the items back, closing up the box before grabbing a colored patchwork blanket and tossing it over your shoulders. Kicking on some flip-flops, you were on your way outside!
Stepping out your room, you shuffled yourself down the hall and the stairwell. Dodging through the few rooms to the back door, you removed the slab of wood securing it in place, before unlocking, and stepping out and away from the patio. The night air bit at your skin, causing you to pull the blanket more around yourself. Walking through the grass, you went down the slope in the field past the stone drop path to the next house.you went to where the grass was taller, yet a comforter curving in the hill would become your spot. You plopped down, ignoring the dewdrops on the blade of grass as you stared up at the sky; cloudy- yet the stars would still show brightly between the black and blue skyline as the mood was bright and full.
You layed there, letting out a deep sigh. You just wanted the weight of the world off your shoulders. You were tired of not knowing what you were doing. Your back where you started, like you never left really. What were you going to do now? What was it you wanted to do? Did you just needed a break, try again in a year and be a nurse- or start from scratch in a new passion? What if you hated that too? How would you know? You needed a fortune teller- or to turn back into a baby. Let someone else take care of you.
Yeah, no, you didn't feel like repeating cycles.
---
What the hell was licking me-?
That was your first thought, having fallen asleep and having a short nap that was long enough to leave you alone to be eaten by mountain lions-- dramatic, really, as it was just Nox. The little shit at some point got cuddled under your shirt and was liking at your old scar. Did you know that when waking up? No, so what did you do? You screamed. And boy were you heard- as lights were flickering on in both houses behind you as you were trying to get what the fuck was in your shirt out. He would get out and run off towards the second house, bell on his collar jingling after you were shoving at your shirt and kicking out frantically, flipping around in the grass. Not your morning, not your finest moment.
You had watched as the cat ran off, eyes wide as you caught your breath before realizing what that was. Stupid-cute cat- he probably thought I was hurt.
footsteps of many you can hear from house #2 as the main house residents was stepping out onto the porch. Your aunt had a bat on her, who was suprised with that notion? You wondered if you stayed layed down, they just believe there's a banshee in the woods and go back in- you'll be locked out, but now your too embarrassed to go back after causing such ruckus. No, they find you gone and it'll be no point. You rolled on your stomach, groan as you had your face in the grass before pushing yourself up.
Walking up the grass, you try and dust off any dirt or dried grass stuck to you as you were to be spotted by the others. Your aunt would move to you, yet Papyrus in his racecar pajamas would beat her to the punch. The startled noise you made as you squirmed, as the other lifted you up and looking you over.
"HUMAN! ARE YOU ALRIGHT? WHAT ARE YOU DOING OUT HERE? THERES GHOSTS OUT THERE! DIDN'T YOU HEAR ITS SCREAM?" He questioned, you felt like a cat with how you were hanging before he carried you back over. Your aunt was trying not to laugh as Paps carried you like you were freaken baby Simba from the Lion King. He seemed proud to show you were found and fine.
"I HAVE ATTAINED THE OTHER HUMAN! THEY ARE FINE!!" "Pfft, sure, 'fine' is writt'n alllll over èr face" Red commented, grinning like a bastard as he snickered. Your face was probably red, you wanted a black hole to consume you. you practically tried to admit a aura that screamed 'help me' as you kicked your feet.
Axe would remove you from Papyrus' holding, having you by the back of your shirt before his one red eyelight stayed trained on you- was those Hello Kitty sweats? Cute.
"You scream'd.. why..?" He questioned, his voice gravely and hanging with exhaustion you fear. Now you definitely feel bad. "AND WHY WERE YOU OUT HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE?" Edge was irritated, you can tell as he has his arms crossed and was tapping his foot.
"I.. I was just needing some fresh air, couldn't sleep too well, so I came out here- guess I fell asleep, sorry guys-"
"And the scream?" You glanced to Stretched, who you swear is wearing the same exact clothes from yesterday, as he was leaned against the sliding glass door.
"Nox was moving around in my shirt while I was sleeping, didn't know what it was- thats why" You shrugged, glancing between them before towards the second house. Youd hear a sigh and look over to Dust. He looked weird without his jacket and hood up. Youd think it was Sans if not for the faint cracking thinly over one eye, and the eyelights being a mix of blue and red- purple where it overlapped, looking at you before turning away when you turned his way.
"My bad.. he didn't make it in before bed, though he was in the main house.." He apologized. You waved your hands, ignoring the mix of pointed looks and suprised from some others. "Dont worry about it, he was just trying to cuddle- I rather him then a possem or something" You assured, a small smile on your face.
Dust would huff, a tug of a smile on his face, before he just nodded. "Lets.. Just head back to bed, its still early" Sans would suggest, his eyelights narrowed at the other. Such a look of distrust.
"Yes- thats enough tonight, come on Ducky! Back to bed with you!" Your aunt smiled, a arm over your shoulder as she coasted you back inside, the others dispersing back to their own rooms and homes. What a village it was around here. Back to your room after further apologizes and goodnights, you sigh as you shut the door. Going over to your bed, you curled up under the blankets. With that, you properly went to sleep. Unaware of anything currently out of place...
---
The early morning gone, you wake up abit before one. The chatter and activity of the house lively enough to make you believe its time to get up. Getting dressed in no time, you went down the stairs, stretching as you did. Nox would find you quickly as you hear his pitter patter of feet. Meeting you at the bottom, the furball would yell up at you as he jumped his front paws on your leg. Letting out a laugh, you pick him up, kissing his forehead as he purred against your chest.
You take yourself with him into the Den, where you heard the faint sounds of you assume some of the others gaming. You appear to be right as a array of them were everywhere. We had Blue, Red, Stress, and Mutt in front of the TV as laughter and curses filled the air. Red and Stretch would sprawl out and seemed to be cheating with kicking one another while Blue and Mutt were on the floor.
You couldn't understand why there was so much ruckus on the couch- but considering the grin on Stretches face, you assumed he started it. You looked to Nox, who was closed eyes as he didn't have a care in the world about these goofballs. You moved to sit in a beanbag that seemed to be dragged in from the living room, plopping down as you petted the baby.
"So, who's winning?" You asked, Blue turning to face you. "HUMAN! DID YOU SLEEP BETTER?" "Fuck'n Bluebird- eyes on the screen-! If we lose ill kick yer ass- FUCKING QUIT IT!!" Red was getting a sock to the face, Stretch being such a great tormentor. He was recoiling in disgust as he flailed his arm to shove the offending foot away as Stretch just seemed to get more comfortable.
"Pfft- I slept fine- Stretch probably won't later" You commented, the orange skeleton glancing your way briefly before shrugging. "I'll nap when he works, then ill leave some presents for him to find later-" "YOU better fuck'n NOT--" Oh this was more entertaining then the last time.
You would laugh at the chaos, Nox finally had enough of the noise and pushing out of your arms before disappearing off somewhere. You'd push off the beanbag and find the speakers in the back by the pool table. Flickering them on, youd connect your phone, glancing back to the others. "I'm alright to play some stuff while here, yeah?" You questioned, Mutt being the one yo speak up.
"Whatever your wantʼn, Barbie" He said, the tips of his fingers barely reaching up into view as he flicks his wrists with a peace sign, before continuing to play. He seemed the most bored out of everyone.
You raised an eye to the other, Barbie? You cant think of why hes calling you that right now. You didn't feel very 'Barbie' but more lazy hobo person. Youd miss the look the others gave him as you shrugged. You chose to ignore it as you let your Playlist shuffle. You really should make designated playlists, but your too lazy for that. What immediately played happen to be something that cracked a shit eating grin across your face as the others played their game.
Largo (Figaro) specificly by Babatunde HipHopera would play over the speaker. Only Mutt had ever heard your music taste thus far, and this wasn't anything played before back in dishes duty as of late. You have yet to play anything else while working around the house- mainly because Noone seemingly let's you. Regardless, the reactions to follow proved to entertain quick. Red was the first to start, trying to look back at you with bewilderment and frustration from the game he couldn't focus on yo win.
"The fuck kinda Tom and Jerry funny ass shit ya PLAYIN over there-?! Who- OFF MY FUCKŃ SPAWN POINT YOU PURPLE STRETCHED OUT- FUCK!!" And there went his controller as he got up, his hands gripping his skull before he moved away from the couch with great curses. Stretch was trying not to laugh, but you can hear him snickering and see his shoulders bouncing from your perch. You had placed a hand over your own mouth, trying not to laugh to make the other any more upset.
"That was bullshit- games bullshit! Yer cheatin over there and I know it!" He insisted, pointing out fingers at the others. "If ya going to be salty and have a Lil bitty fit, yoooou could go get us some snacks to match that mood of yours- smores! Cook em over your boiling skull!" Stretch antagonized, laughing more from his place as he falled back onto the couch. Red shook his fists angrily, walking over by the you as he breathed. Competitive much? In all this, the song had only ended. What played next youd hope to use to maybe cheer the skeleton up?
As Uebok -VIP played, giving it a moment to let it pick up to let its beat set. You slid beside the hot head with a smile. He looked at you, letting a huff out as he leaned on his hand thst rested on the pool table, tilting his head at you. "What ya want?"
"Loosen up abit, dance with me" You said simply, smile growing as you turned yourself away and stepped away abit. You exaggerated your movements of your shoulders as you rolled your hips, swaying your head back and forth to the song. You spun back on your heels to look at Red letting yourself move as you pleased to the song from here as you extended your arm out, and beckoned the skeleton to join.
He had a hide eyed look, looking at you a way you'd imagine yourself giving if you were listening to talks of something crazy. You were trying, even if he may not entirely be thrilled by the idea. He moved to cross his arms, drumming his fingers on his forceps as he watched you. He rolled his eyelights some, before he let out a short laugh.
"You pick the funkiest songs to ask that to- whatever" He finally decided, saving you the embarrassment and giving you mercy as he moved over to join you- that was, before he plucked your phone up. No lock screen like fool, leaving him to change the song while flickering through your Playlist. Fucker went and put on Nickleback!!
He clearly wanted a different vibe, putting on Something in Your Mouth with a sly grin on his face. He moved behind you, a hand on your him as the lyrics start to pop off, pressing himself behind you as he trailed his other hand up your side, following to some theme to the lyrics and movement with the beat. He moved with a seemed purpose, a sudden spin before pulling you back as the lyrics '-but you pay her just to touch it-' played through.
He would then push you back some, arms over you as he seemingly did a quick motion of feeling you up. You werent letting him get all the fun, turning yourself around and letting the next lines of lyrics go over as you tried to keep up with the quicker pace. You made the motion of pulling at a 'thong' around Reds waist, which earned a snort from him at the turn of roles. Your hands went up as you swayed your hips, Red leaning down by your ear, his voice dropping as he let his breath it as he muttered some of the lyrics in a quiet whisper. "You naughty thing" Shivers would prick up your spine as he leaned away, letting your face feel warm as the song continued. You turned around just to continue feeding into the song and whatever the heck you two were doing. Reds hands dipping behind you as you turned to face him once more before a voice spoke over the music.
"I SEE EVERYONES BUSY DOING SOMETHING AROUND HERE" Black spoke, his arms crossed as he looked upon the space with a certain look in his eyelights. He looked to his brother, who in turn tossed up his controller on the couch with Stretch before moving beside the smaller. With his brother in arms, Black would then look towards you and Red.
"YOUR BROTHER AQUIRES YOU UPSTAIRS, MAKE A POINT TO HEAD UP" He informed curtly, Red stepping back from you as he glared to his cousin. "Why he send you down here then, yer not one for playin telephone" He pointed out, you sneaking over to turn the music off. Whats the deal? Why is there some hostility in here?
"I WAS COMING TO GET MY OWN BROTHER THATS LAYZING ABOUT, WE HAVE ERRANDS, AS DO YOU" He finished, Red Giving a scoff as Black looked at you. You werent even taken in the look on Mutts face as he just silence stood in the back.
"Tch, fine, whatever- ill be up" And once again, Red was acting all grumpy. Not as much from the earlier events, but- something. Maybe its just because he has something to do while on his day off. He gave you a wave, glaring towards the others before heading upstairs.
Black would then stare at you, making some kind of calculations before he turned away, motioning Mutt along as they too, went upstairs. This left you with Blue and Stretch, who had watched everything. Stretch was still as comfortable as can be, taking up a spare controller, and holding it up towards you.
"You and Blue against me, you game?" He asked, swaying the controller back and forth before you moved over, scooting his legs over so you can sit. Controller in hand, you smiled to Blue. "We got this" "WE GOT THIS!!"
... Spoiler; you in fact, didn't got, or had it. The only time you both won was when Stretch went to grab a drink. You were petty, you wanted a win, unfortunately Blue wouldn't let it count, rats.
