Work Text:

Riley felt stupid.
it was a normal training day, the coach divided the team into two groups; black and red.
It was supposed to be just a warm-up, but her colleagues got excited and started placing bets
Riley was on the red team, along with Dani and another brunette girl named Mary, with one more girl behind them, Jane.
In front of she was the black team led by Val Ortiz, a girl with blonde hair with a red streak that Riley didn't know the name of, Emma, and Alice, a tall girl who simply hated Riley for no reason.

the goalkeepers of both teams were excited, teasing each other from afar.
the coach Roberts counted to five, before releasing the metal disc and starting the game.
Riley played on autopilot, occasionally throwing an amused look at Val, whenever the captain stole the puck from Andersen's stick.
The minutes passed like a blur in Riley's mind, and then it happened: Alice skated toward the red team's goal, leading the metal puck.
the goalie quickly got into position, while Dani and Riley were behind Alice, trying to open an opening to get the disc, even though Riley clearly already knew they would lose this match.
The score was 3×4, with the black team already in the lead, and there were only 10 seconds left to finish.
Alice scored the goal.

Riley felt frustration overcome her as she skated off the ice, followed by her team, towards the locker room.
she felt stupid.
It was already the second training session in a row that Riley's team lost, as she was the one leading them
Why didn't they just put Dani in?
the feeling that she had let them down again gnawed at Riley, frustration coursing through her veins.
She was sitting on the bench now, removing her helmet, followed by a struggle to untie the laces on her skates.

"Hey, Minnesota!" called Val, walking towards her "nice game" her girlfriend gave her a wink, a beaming smile on her lips
"You don't have to lie to me, Val" Riley said, managing to remove one of the skates, now starting to untie the other

Val's smile immediately disappeared when she noticed how Riley was.
"hey... it's okay, it was just training, Ri" she began softly, sitting down next to the blonde.
"yes, another training session, the one in a row that my team loses under my leadership." she sighed after saying that, looking up at Val "I'm sorry.. I'm just- a lot on my mind."

Val's hands went to Riley's face, caressing her jaw as she pulled her face in for a quick kiss.
"I really think you did well, you scored one goal and assisted Dani to score the other, that was great, dear.
you even managed to steal the disc from me, twice! damn, Riley, I'm the captain, are you trying to steal my crown or something?"
with that, Riley gave a sad laugh, Val's heart sank at the sound, thinking of how she could cheer up her girl.
"thanks, babe.." Riley she whispered, more to herself, as she continued taking off her other skate.

And then an idea crossed Val's mind
a shameful idea, but she would do anything for Riley.
She looked around, noticing that her teammates were talking to each other, and others were exchanging
everyone was here.
Val approached Dani, whispering something in her ear, causing Riley to raise an eyebrow at the two
Riley saw Dani let out a laugh before nodding, looking at Val.

and then Valentina, with a smile from ear to ear, walked to the middle of the locker room and took a deep breath, before looking at Riley
"Amor Mio.." Val began to sing, drawing everyone's eyes to her, but their attention was stuck on Riley. "eres el ser que amo sin fin" continued, making Riley's face heat up and her jaw drop, Dani took out her cell phone to record, while the entire team was as shocked as Riley was.
"Pasión e idilio, amor mio" Val walked up to Riley, an even bigger smile on her face as she looked deeply into Riley's eyes.
blue and bright, mixing with chocolate browns.

"Razón eterna de vivir, amor mio, mi vida es toda um vacío sin ti"
Val sang happily, climbing onto the bench in the locker room as she began to clap every few words, establishing a pleasant rhythm
Whistles and satisfied laughter filled the room, while Dani encouraged the other girls to follow Val's rhythm, but snapping her fingers.
"Quiero que me sinetas cerca, Y así tus ojos en mi, amor mío." Val laughed between words, joy filling her heart as she playfully twirled on the bench, her curly hair twirling mesmerized Riley.
Val extended her hand to the embarrassed blonde in front of her, who gladly accepted, standing up on the bench and facing Val, who continued to sing
"Amor mío, mi vida es toda um vacío sin ti" she repeated, while her claps mixed with finger snaps made the song sound a thousand times better, Val's voice was simply magnificent.
Riley Andersen was completely in love.
"quiero que me sientas cerca
Y así tus ojos en mi... amor mío" she finished, her clapping stopping along with the popping.
Riley's only reaction was to take her hands to the sides of Valentina's face and pull her in for a deep kiss, which Ortiz obviously accepted and reciprocated.
happy screams, whistles, and claps filling the locker room, along with Dani's gleeful laughter as she said she had recorded it.

When they walked away, they both had silly smiles on their faces.
"are you better?" Ortiz asks.
Riley just kissed her again, and when they pulled away, he spread kisses all over Val's face.
"I want you to sing to me more often." Riley demanded, the smile never leaving her face.
Val's accent and the way she pronounced Spanish words had done things to Riley.
"hmn, What do I get out of this?"
"whatever you want, just sing it again. Riley exhaled, a bit of desperation coupled with joy in her voice.
"Seems like a fair offer, I'll think about it, princesa." A shiver ran through Riley at the nickname, causing his girlfriend to let out a loud laugh.

Notes:

the name of the song is "Amor Mío" by Frank Sark.
Yes, Riley has a crush on Val speaking Spanish, stone me for that
