Chapter 1: Episode 1 - Coruscant
Chapter Text
GT-4891 Hospital, Coruscant
CORUSCANT
Capital of the Republic
Visit the Corusca Sector
(Front of the card is a bright yellow and orange sunset, with the skyline of Coruscant. A large sticker of a stormtrooper with Aurebesh writing, promoting the Empire, has been stuck to the front)
Dear GT-4891,
Look what I found! An old Republic tourism card. I found it in a crate marked for destruction. Thought you’d like to see it, maybe stick it up on the wall of your hospital room (now that I’ve altered it, you should be fine putting it up somewhere).
We’re heading off to the hanger this afternoon, shipped off to Naboo first. The people are rebelling – some minor thing about Moff Panaka’s latest identification checks at port. I don’t think the 309’s help is really needed – we’re TIE fighters and snipers – but I suppose its more an intimidation thing that anything else. There’s also an entire garrison on Naboo, you’d think they could sort out a little local trouble.
I think it’s more of a stop over point to send us onto the Outer Rim Territories. Crait isn’t far from Naboo, or Tattooine. Scarif is also out that way – and you know how long I’ve wanted to go to Scarif! Believe me – one shot at a training sim on Scarif and I’ll be on Krennic’s radar and a Death Trooper before you know it!
Lots of love, BW-7991
Chapter 2: Episode 2 - Theed, Naboo

Episode 2 – To GT-4891, Hospital, Coruscant
Theed
Naboo
(A dark coloured card, with the Naboo palace in greys and deep greens, overlooking lighter green fields in the distance and the lake)
Hey GT-4891,
Naboo is AMAZING! The weather is great, the job is easy – hell, we even get to stay in the old palace rather than the garrison. The whole place is practically deserted anyway, but we get to eat in the fancy rooms (not like the really fancy rooms, but still better than the mess hall) and we managed to grab some books! Real paper books from before the Clone Wars! I’m surprised they let things like that stay but I guess Naboo is going under, so who’s looking for old material?
Speaking of, I want to see if I can find an old Naboo starfighter to mess around with. We won’t be here for long though. Remember those riots I mentioned? They’d sorted it all out before we even got here. The local troopers still seem jumpy, like they’re expecting something else to happen, but that’s not my problem.
We’re going to the Outer Rim in a few days. I managed to grab one of those stickers, they have huge banner versions down at the port. Darth Vader – Our New Hope. (A Sticker is inserted in bottom right corner. Darth Vader in bright blue, red, and black, with ‘New Hope’ in large blue font at the bottom). Bit cheesey if you ask me.
We’ve not been told where we’re off to, but we know it won’t be Crait though – another platoon just got sent there. Fingers crossed for Scarif!
Lots of love, BW-7991
Chapter 3: Episode 3 - Tattooine

Desert Planet
TATTOOINE
Outer Rim Territories
(A bright yellow and orange card, with two suns, and a rocky background. A house is silhouetted in the foreground, with two Jawas)
Dear GT-4891,
Tattooine. They sent me to kriffing Tattooine. Apparently we are being stationed here for at least three months. There’s an Inquisitor or whatever it is coming with us. Is it a Sith? They’re looking for Jedi – again. As if some old space wizard would choose to live here. The sand gets everywhere, though could a Jedi just magic it all away?
The 309th are better than this. It’s only been a few days but it’s the same thing every day. It’s just sentry duty around the main camp. We’ve taken over a little farmstead halfway between Mos Eisley and Mos Espa. All the ships are back at Mos Eisley – my next rotation will be sentry duty at the shipping port. We can’t go into the towns themselves. Controlled by Hutts. But the Inquisitor isn’t looking in the towns, only the desert. The Hutts can’t stop that. At least it wasn’t Crait – salt is worse than sand. Though apparently there’s something here called a Krait Dragon. I just hope I never see one.
You take care now and focus on getting better.

Tropical Planet
SCARIF
Outer Rim Territories
(A bright yellow and orange card, with a sandy sea background. An AT-AT is silhouetted in the foreground, with lots of palm trees, and three TIE fighters)
Dear GT-4891,
It has been a while since my last message. Lucky I checked the holonet for your progress and saw you were at a new facility. They’d better be looking after you well, or else I’ll shoot the medical droid.
Can you guess where I am? I got selected for a TIE Squad assessment on Scarif! About twenty other troops from the 309th are here, and only ten can pass. Well, we started with twenty. Poor KL-2245 tripped down some stairs and broke his wrist on the very first day… how terrible sad…
Anyway.
Scarif is a gorgeous planet. I really don’t understand why they have put the archives here of all places. It would make a fantastic holiday planet. I guess those stationed here get to live a bit of a holiday lifestyle. Shame it’s wasted mostly on archivists. Maybe I can hang around here for a bit, if I’m lucky.
The pilot course takes 12 weeks and then we are assessed by Director Krennic himself! I might still have a chance at Death Trooper!
Wish me luck!

Chapter 5: Episode 5 - Jakku
Chapter Text
Episode 5 – To GT-4891, Park Eight, Coruscant
JAKKU
Desert Planet
Inner Rim Territories
(A bright yellow and orange card, with a sand dune background. A bright sun is in the middle, and flying from it are seven TIE Fighters)
Dear GT-4891,
Well, I passed the assessment. I even came first! I’m now wishing I came sixth. Apparently, Governor Tarkin himself believes the top five should not be ‘wasted’ as Director Krennic’s guards. Instead, our Grand Moff has sent us to another kriffing desert planet. We are stationed at the ‘observatory’. I can’t tell you everything, it’s not ‘top secret’ but I want to hear more first.
Oh and everyone else got to stay on Scarif. Lucky them!
What I do know is the Observatory has two purposes. One is navigation and strategic – it’s useful to use this barely populated rock to map and control this section of the Territories. There’s always a small military presence here. The locals are primitive and no threat at all but pirates would love to control Jakku.
The second purpose is much more interesting. I’ve heard whispers that the Emperor himself ordered its construction, as Jakku is overflowering with odd artifacts. I guess it is Jedi related, and after everything that happened to our poor Emperor, I can see why he would want every effort directed to hunting those monsters down. This is apparently part of our mission. Find the artifact, analyse it at the Observatory, then we will guard the ship back to Coruscant. I might even get to see you!

DATHOMIR
National Park
Home of the Rancor
(A deep red card with the silhouette of giant spires, leading up to a red sun. Sharp rocks in the foreground)
Dear GT-4891,
I don’t have much to say. We didn’t see Rancors. Obviously, I didn’t get this card on Dathomir. I’m now in Kashyyyk. Neither has much tourism industry, in Dathomir the pods that hold dead witches burst open when you get too close.
They’re killable. Absolutely no challenge from a TIE fighter, but we went on the ground to a temple. I’ll never forget it. This soggy, vampiric witch with glowing green hands and eyes sprinted right for us. We were only there to help the stormtroopers and guard the Inquisitor. Not the same one from Tattooine. This one was a giant female Dowutin. The Captain called her ‘Ninth Sister’.
She swatted the witches like flies. She even crushed them with her bare hands. Didn’t even use a lightsabre.
We then stayed with the TIEs, mostly aerial support. We kept the Night Brothers away. Turns out they’ve become quite blood thirsty since all the Night Sisters died out. Facing extinction. I suppose they would love to get their hands on our ships and get off this planet themselves.
The Ninth Sister retrieved something from the Temple using the Jakku artifact. The ship felt heavy on the way back. Something is wrong with whatever she brought back to the ship. It’s the Dark Side of the Force.

Notes:
My uncle never got to this chapter, though I outlined the rest of the story to him. By this time, he had moved several wards and was now in hospice. Reading the rest of this was not important, but I finished writing it for him.
Chapter 7: Episode 7 - Kashyyyk
Chapter Text
Episode 7 – To GT-4891, Park Eight, Coruscant
Mytaranor Sector
KASHYYYK
Mid Rim Territories
(A deep green and blue card of mountains and water, with huge trees in the foreground. A Wookie holds a crossbow facing away)
Dear GT-4891,
The base on Kashyyyk is pretty nice. I’ve been here three months now. I’ve got my own digs, some actual privacy, a perk of being a Squadron Leader.
You heard it! Only 3 months in and I’m Squadron Leader! Forget Death Trooper, I’m aiming for Black Squadron now!
There was a revolt last month. A proper one, not like that little joke at the port on Naboo. It’s how I got Squadron Leader. Last guy got shot down by a Wookie Bowcaster right through his viewport. General Kahdah personally took over ground assault with the 212th. They were Obi Wan Kenobi’s back in the Clone Wars. I think there might even be a clone or two in the ranks still. Weird, right?
All the Wookie revels are gone now. They all were sent to the Kessel mines. The leaders were sent to the lowest levels, probably didn’t last a week. The rest will survive a few months, maybe a year. There were even young ones too.
They will pay for betraying the Empire. As they should, of course. Glory to the Empire.
It’s a shame about the planet though. It doesn’t look like the picture now. It’s barren, turned into mines for gems. Similar to what was found on Dathomir. The artifact led to a temple full of gems. Crystals or something. Turns out Kashyyyk has loads of them. It won’t have any trees left.

Notes:
I wanted to get an actual crystal to put in the envelope, but there wasn't time. I have a 'kyber' crystal necklace though that I still wear.

Come see it all!
LOTHAL
(A grassy foreground leads onto a hazy flat plain. The far horizon is a silhouette of the skyline of Lothal. In the air, an Imperial shuttle takes off)
Dear GT-4891,
Captain didn’t listen when I told him there wasn’t anything useful on Lothal. Of course, I don’t get an opinion, but it is nice to be proven right.
I’m a bit bitter. You know I’ve always wanted a Loth cat. I can’t exactly have one on base, or keep one in my TIE. Yet, what’s the first thing I see when we land and go into the nearest barn? A loth cat WITH KITTENS GT-4891!
The artifact must have been created a long time ago, as this time it was useless. Kashyyyk was literally covered in areas for mines. It was also easy to capture, and with a complete lack of human population to worry about. Lothal only had a few spots, each only producing a small number of crystals. The local governor is also being a pain. Typical. A few blown up market squares was enough for them to fall perfectly in line.
No sign of rebels of Loth wolves. It seems Lothal has completely given up the fight.
I found this crystal right in the middle of a field. Must have fallen off a transport. They won’t notice one missing, so here you go!
Our next destination likely won’t be much better. Jedha. I say it’s too populated to be useful. But the artifact is leading the Ninth Sister, and she leads us, so best do as she says.

Chapter 9: Episode 9 - Jedha
Chapter Text
Episode 9 – To GT-4891, Park Eight, Coruscant
JEDHA
The Last Remnants of the Jedi
(A giant tower is silhouetted in green light. A large ‘moon’ eclipses the sun, one large area glowing green…)
Dear GT-4891,
I’ve always liked hearing about Jedha. Obviously, the Force is complete nonsense and the Jedi are all traitors, but the old stories from the Old Republic remind me of hearing them for the first time as a kid.
Well, gone are the days of Jedi Knights and Holy Temples. There was nothing particularly interesting in the Holy City. The stories big it up. I’m sure some dusty old scholar would find the building interesting, or the Guardians of the Whills. We were specifically looking for the Kyber Temple. That’s what these crystals are called, the ones on Dathomir, Kashyyyk, and Lothal. We took as many crystals as the ship could carry.
I think Jedha will be a target for years to come.
It could take ten years or more to empty the Kyber Temple and all the Vaults. What use do these strange Guardians have for them? They can’t use them, only Jedi could. Why did the Jedi need so many? Only one crystal powered a lightsabre, so why have millions hidden in underground vaults?
Keep your one safe.
The one shipload we packed yesterday is more than all the crystals found on Dathomir and Lothal combined. We are waiting for reinforcements and more ships to arrive before we leave. We can’t give the locals any opportunity to move or hide the crystals.
Since we have such a big delivery, we will be taking it to the drop off directly.

Chapter 10: Episode 10 - Mustafar
Chapter Text
Episode 10 – To GT-4891, Park Eight, Coruscant
Fortress Vader
MUSTAFAR
Outer Rim Territories
(A waterfall of lava cascades down the front of the card. At the top, nearly blocking the sun, is Vader’s tower)
Dear GT-4891,
By the Force, I thought Dathomir was bad. I’m already at a new location and I got this card for you, but I’ll tell you about that in a minute.
During the Clone Wars, Mustafar was mined. Not Kyber crystals (for once, not bloody Kyber crystals) but for metal. The entire planet is practically a volcanic soup and metals and minerals are forming all the time. It’s almost entirely droid run as it is ABSURDLY hot. It’s so hot, the landing pad is over a mile about the planet’s surface. Any closer and our fuel has the potential to spontaneously combust.
I didn’t spend long in my TIE just in case.
It was a swift mission. Lord Vader’s castle is full of rooms and stores bursting with Kyber crystals. No one would dare try to take them from here. The final location – the true place these Kyber crystals are needed – is not ready yet. It will take several more years before the DSI Battle Station is finished. It looks a bit like a crescent moon now.
That is where I am based. Black Squadron took a fatality during a rebel encounter on Hoth, and I was first choice to replace him. It seems Director Krennic might have put in a good word! I’m heading to Hoth next with the Squadron, should be in just under a month.
Wish me luck!

Visit…
HOTH
Enjoy the legendary Hoth-spitality!
(A white plain rolls in the distance, rising up into tall snow-capped mountains. Two AT-Ats walk by in the snow. Three crescent moons fill the skies. A rider on a Tauntaun look on from a rocky outcropping)
Dear GT-4891,
The Rebels on Hoth knew we were coming.
It was not exactly a disaster, but we took more losses than was necessary. The rebels are trapped. Most won’t make it out, those that do can run and tell the others that Hoth is once again Imperial.
Black Squadron were enough to tip the balance this time. TIEs and a whole troop of AT-Ats. There can’t be more of a drastic change in deployment than Mustafar to Hoth. A volcanic planet to one of solid ice.
They captured some rebel Tauntauns, you can see one in the photo. You can ride them! We all had a go. They’re very strange. They have horns and walk on two legs and seem reptilian. Yet they are covered in white fur.
I hear you are potentially moving again! That’s great news, make sure to make the new address easily available. I nearly missed you the last time you moved, got to make sure we stay in touch, right?
Now, I’m off on patrol.

Episode 11 – To GT-4891, Rebel Base, Unknown Regions
ENDOR
Sanctuary Moon
Inner Zuma Region
(A green card, covered in layers of forest, darkest green at the front and fading to pale further back. Two Imperial transports fly over a large satellite tower, pointing at the moon)
Dear GT-4891,
What in kriffing hells are you doing?
If this letter makes it to you, you had better take his seriously. I nearly lost my TIE because of you. I got pulled out of manoeuvres and put in the cells. They thought I was a rebel SPY because of my letters to you.
The contents of which you seem to have been passing around.
Thankfully we were able to recover the letters from your last facility so I was able to prove I was not giving out Empire secrets. I am in the clear.
You, however, are on a system wide wanted list.
Of course, all my communications are now being screened. So, if this gets to you, I will assume it’s passed Imperial controls and even Rebel base controls too. Oh yes, we figured out you’ve managed to get off Coruscant. We will find you and the Rebels holding you.
You’ll be given a chance, GT-4891. Undergo reconditioning and you will be allowed back. Otherwise… you know what happens to traitors.
I can’t say where I’m going next. I can tell you I’ve left Endor. That’s all I can tell you.

MANDALORE
National Park
This is the Way
(A yellowish grey card, with detailed art of the domed city of Sundari and two suns in the sky)
Dear GT-4891,
Why has nearly every planet I have been to some sort of wasteland? Why can’t I be stationed on a nice planet for a while. Scarif and Lothal were nice, and I was barely there a few months.
You would have liked Mandalore. I know how much you loved the stories of the Mandalorians. The Great Purge has destroyed everything. I bet your Rebel friends will blame the Empire, but the Mandalorians had it coming.
The planet is cursed. We had full suits for breathing and jet packs. We needed to retrieved several items from the heart of Mandalore. Right from the Forge itself.
Progress is progress. The Empire will be all the stronger from what we have gained from Mandalore. My next stop was my idea, and of vital importance to the Empire and the new DS1. I’m leading the charge. If I’m right, it will make my career.
Enjoy whatever bunker you are hiding in. We will find you.

ILUM
It’s crystal clear!
(A dark blue card showing a dark cliff, bright blue crystals stick out from the face and glow brightly. Above, the northern lights fill the sky with a green and purple glow)
Dear GT-4891,
I was right. Ilum is like Kashyyyk, but even more extreme. The planet itself is essentially one giant Kyber crystal. You could turn the whole planet into a Death Star – easier than building the damn things.
Where are you? My Kyber Crystal keeps drawing be back towards the core worlds. You can’t be on Coruscant. I’ve scrambled the code on my TIE, but it will still draw attention.
I don’t have long.
Your crustal, from Lothal, I don’t think it was chance I found it. It was meant for you. That’s why you ran, isn’t it? What colour did it take? Mine turned purple.
I managed to convince Black Squadron there was no value in Ilum and faked a cave collapse. They’ll know I survived if they ever see my TIE has gone. I bought some time.
I understand now why Jedha has vaults of crystals. There’s only one that calls to you, and if yours is stuck underground, you’ll never find it.
Tells the Rebels I’ll find you eventually. And not to shoot my TIE. I won’t risk Coruscant, not yet. I think I’ll try Alderaan, that’s not far. Isn’t Senator Organa an old friend of Kenobi’s? I bet that’s where you’ve gone. We can’t stay there, but it’s a good start.
See you soon, Boyo

Notes:
Boyo was my nickname for my uncle. I hadn't remembered I put that in there.
I haven't read this story since I sealed the envelopes and gave them to him more than a year ago. I wish he could've read them all. I dropped hints throughout that GT-4891 was going to run off from the hospital and become a Jedi, and that BW-7991 wasn't really as bad as the other troopers. So they both run off into the galaxy in the end.
