Chapter Text
“Oh come on, when was the last time you had ice cream?” GingerBright had asked while they were discussing their next hang out session. Devil sipped their ice cold cola through their silly straw, thinking about it. It wasn’t often they went to the ice cream shop. Their dad was banned due to “being too hot”, Angel was often too busy for one reason or another and Devil didn’t crave it much anyway. They shrugged, swallowing their drink. “From the store or from a truck or parlour? I don’t know.”
“Then we should go get some! Maybe we can eat that and then walk around until you find someone to prank!” Devil does like pranks. They smiled at the happy cookie, showing their slightly yellowed sharp teeth. “Alright then, let’s do it.” GingerBright smiled somehow even bigger, her eyes basically sparkling. “Great! I know a great parlour near the centre of the kingdom, they even have cola floats!” Now that certainly caught Devil’s interest. They couldn’t remember the last time they had a cola float but they loved it. “Cola floats, you say?” They raised a brow when GingerBright’s smile changed slightly, amused. “Maybe!” She booped their nose, giggling almost deviously. Devil knew she likely brought them up to get them on board with getting ice cream, not that they needed much incentive to hang out with her. They did often visit her at her house unannounced so much that both her and her grandfather keep cola in the fridge and a spare room set up at all times. “Then sure, I’ll get ice cream with you. How about tomorrow?”
“Yay!”

Devil was a cookie of their word. If they said they would do something for someone, they would, even if they took a while. GingerBright was no exception, of course. So they met her at the parlour, dressed in their most comfortable Molten Towers hoodie and some hoof warmers, texting their friends on their phone. They were a little early but they didn’t want to risk keeping GingerBright waiting, they didn’t mind waiting for her however. They didn’t have to wait long, thankfully, as GingerBright skipped up to them. “Hey Bright. Is that a new dress?” They asked, putting their phone in their pocket. “Mhm! I just thought it was so cute I had to have it!” She did a little twirl to show it off, obviously excited. It was a very nice lavender shade, not too harsh on the eyes, with a lot of white ruffles. “It suits you. Hope you don’t spill anything.”
“Says you, silly! Remember that time at Sugar Park?”
“Hey! That’s not fair, you saw that someone bumped into me!” They followed GingerBright into the parlour, jogging slightly to keep up with her walking speed. “Besides, I was easily able to get a new hoodie at the gift shop!” GingerBright giggled a little, booping their nose again. “I know, Dev! I’m just saying that you’re more likely to spill something than me!” Devil blushed a little from embarrassment, pulling the strings on the hoodie so it closed around their face enough to hide it. GingerBright rolled her eyes, still smiling, as she sat them in one of the booths. “I’ll go get our ice cream, okay? You save this booth for us.” Devil nodded at her, kicking their legs a little and looking around. Cookie spotting. They were always a little nosey, wanting to know about others around them. There were a lot of romantic couples in the parlour and some families, of course. They saw who they swore up and down was Dark Choco with a red haired cookie and a black haired child. Both had spots in their hair which Devil thought was kinda cool. They watched the kid steal some of Dark Choco’s ice cream only for him to steal hers in return.
They rolled their eyes at the sickening sweet (but adorable) display and looked at somewhere else. Their eyes landed on Fairy Cookie, their cousin. Fairy was there alone, eating her sundae which was like twice her size. Not that she seemed to mind, enjoying the various pieces of fruit. She looked over and saw Devil, waving at them excitedly. Devil waved back with a similar energy, smiling at her. That was the end of their interaction but Devil didn’t mind, happily looking around at other people. The cherry siblings were there, chatting and eating ice cream together. A couple of suspicious cookies, though Devil wasn’t sure they were actually cookies, were talking and looking around like they were being watched, eating their ice cream very slowly. Hell, they even saw GingerBrave in one of the booths, GingerDozer sitting next to him while two blonde cookies sat opposite them. They rolled their eyes but saw GingerBright walking over with their ice cream, sitting up as straight as they could and looking directly at her. “Cookie spotting?”
“Aw, how’d you know?” Devil took their cola float from her, putting it in front of them. GingerBright moved to sit opposite them, her sundae in front of her on the table. “I know you by now. That and I saw you waving at someone.” Curse you, Fairy Cookie, their cover was blown. They wouldn’t say that to her so they shrugged, holding their straw. “Fine, I was. Brave’s here.”
“Yeah, I saw. It’s nice he’s having a break for once.”
“I guess, yeah.” They took a sip of the cola half of the float, wanting it to be lower before they ate the ice cream. “What’d you get?”
“I got a salted caramel brownie sundae.” Devil whistled a little. “That sounds delicious. Can I have some?”
“You have your own!”
“Please?” Devil put on their best upset face, complete with puppy dog eyes. “Not happening, Dev!” GingerBright giggled, taking a bite of her sundae. The imp chuckled a little, going back to their float. The two started talking about… whatever, honestly. GingerBright was talking about some horror manga collabing with some child friendly company. That certainly surprised Devil but creepy-cute is certainly popular so hey, they thought it was cool. Devil started talking about some new music they were listening to, sending GingerBright some Bakeify links too. That conversation somehow led to video games in their typical conversation style.”-they actually got rid of the vote! Let me tell ya, I was so happy I woke Angel up to tell them at two in the morning!” GingerBright nodded along, letting Devil talk about the game they liked. “It was about time, everyone would get so divided, Angel and I included. They wanted the Moo Bloom, I wanted the Ice Lodger but we were both so mad when the glow squid won-”
GingerBright winced, grabbing her forehead. “Wha- Bright, what’s the matter?”
“B-Brainfreeze..!” She placed her head on the table, covering it with her arms. Devil moved her sundae out of the way so it didn’t spill. “Oh dear. That sucks, dude.” Seizing the opportunity, Devil stole a bite of GingerBright’s sundae, trying desperately not to giggle. “…Did you just-”
“Ya need to rest your head anyway! Figured you might not be able to finish your sundae!”
“You little monster! Two can play at that, brainfreeze be damned!” GingerBright nearly shot up and stole Devil’s float, taking some of the ice cream off the top. “Hey, my system! I’ll get you for that!”
“I’d like to see you try!”
“I’ll curse your entire bloodline!” The two laughed like crazy, the threats obviously empty and light-hearted. Each took their respective ice cream back after a moment, the two still laughing when they did. Devil kicked their legs a little more aggressively, GingerBright hitting the table. “You’d curse my bloodline, hm?”
“Eh, not worth it in the long run, I won’t.” They shrugged, eating the ice cream given their system was already messed up. “Not worth it?” GingerBright raised her eyebrow. “How come?”
“You’d keep annoying me, I’d never hear the end of it!” They two laughed again. “Damn right!”
