Work Text:
The faucet runs for a second too long, leading Tsukasa to reach over and turn it off, giving Rui a look to see what was up with him.
Rui sluggishly brushes his teeth, hand falling slack as his eyes slip closed. He doesn’t even realize he’s falling asleep again until his head lolls to the side and lands on top of Tsukasa’s.
“Rui! There’s no time to be tired!” Tsukasa pats Rui’s cheek twice before standing him upright once more, “Today will be busy! We need all of our energy!” Leave it to Tsukasa to be a ball of energy no matter the time.
“Mm..” Rui hums, taking his free hand to rub his eyes as the other continues moving back and forth to clean his teeth laboriously, “I was finishing up our last minute packing last night.” He explains before spitting into the sink and grabbing a handful of water to get the overbearing taste of fake mint out of his mouth, “I never knew how many of those fish shirts you owned. Turns out you’ve got enough to fill up a whole box.”
Tsukasa huffs out a pout before following Rui’s actions, “I like my fish shirts, thank you very much.” Tsukasa pretends to look unamused before swishing around a handful of water in his mouth and spitting it out into the sink.
“I didn’t say that was a bad thing, my star. Your fish shirts look lovely, especially on you.” Rui practically purrs, hearts in his eyes.
Tsukasa laughs, noticing how the room suddenly gets warmer whenever Rui’s melodious voice sings words of praise to him.
Tsukasa applies some of his basic skin care (split in half due to packing concerns), constantly spotting Rui’s gaze on him from the mirror. Rui stood there enamored. Sometimes Tsukasa feels like Rui looks at him like they’re still both two oblivious high school boys with the biggest crush on their best friend, trying to catch a secret glance of the other before playing it as normal glancing around (Tsukasa knows they were both insanely guilty of doing this).
A gentle yawn comes from the back of Rui’s throat as Tsukasa busies himself with packing up their final items. Rui has a pensive, almost longing look spread across his features. Tsukasa understands. Something like this is monumental.
Tsukasa beckons the director forward. Rui, as always, steps up. He still looks on the verge of nodding off, so Tsukasa takes it upon himself to enthuse his sleepy boyfriend.
“Let adrenaline flow through your veins! We’ve no time to be tired!” Tsukasa suddenly bolts, voice loud and echoing off the cramped walls of their apartment bathroom’s walls, managing to pose even while placing both of their toothbrushes into a ziploc bag, “We will finally have our own house!”
Rui sighs and drapes himself over Tsukasa’s shoulders and lets his lips find purchase on the blond’s nape. He leaves a trail of chaste kisses until he stops just short of beneath Tsukasa’s left ear, “I’m excited, truly.. but is it so wrong to still want to keep all of our memories of this apartment?”
The star’s breath hitches in his throat, and Rui relishes in the accomplishment, “Well-” his voice is high in pitch, a clear sign of being flustered, “The past four years led us to where we are now. I still cherish every moment we spent here, but I will look forward to every moment, from here on out, that we will spend together. At home. In our home.”
Rui takes a minute to process it all, shoving his face into the crook between the shorter man’s neck and shoulders, “Ah, you’re such a romantic, Tsukasa-kun~” Rui teases, trying to fight his own growing blush. He rubs his face lovingly against Tsukasa.
“Hey-!” The blond raises a fist and chides, “We’ve been waiting for this for years! So what if I want to be a sap about it?!” He pretends to take offense and pout, but quickly gives up when the arms around his waist tighten and he feels a smile against his neck.
“I’m glad.” Rui pulls away and smiles, his eyes look watery, the cool bathroom light reflecting harshly off the golden pools that are Rui’s eyes, “I’m glad I get to spend it all with you Tsukasa-kun. In our home, as you called it.”
Tsukasa’s face softens and he pulls Rui down into a crushing hug, sweeping the purple haired man off his feet while still trapped in a hug. Rui giggles, and Tsukasa doesn’t say anything if he feels a stray tear drop of two hit his arms.

Rui feels a hand crush his as they stand outside a house. Their house. Their home. They must look like fools to their new neighbors, standing outside their new house and staring aimlessly like two kids in a candy store.
There are boxes strewn about (both inside and out), but it’s lovely. Rui’s heart feels full. Sure, it serves the same purpose as their apartment did, but this feels different, it feels special; perhaps it feels different because it’s so intimate. There aren’t hundreds of other people in one building, it’s just a director and his star, sharing the place they come home to after work everyday. Their new safe haven that will hold secrets and memories that an apartment cannot. Maybe a new addition to their small family could be in their new future (Rui always did hate the no pets rule at their apartment).
Rui bites his lip to prevent a mix of an overly wide smile from slipping out, and from tears welling in his eyes. He turns to look at the blond who is just wordlessly staring at him, the most sickeningly fond smile ever recorded in history tugging at his lips.
Rui, for the first time that day, allows a gentle stream of happy tears to slide over his cheeks. Rui bends down to the ground and places the picture frame he was holding—a photo from their first date when the two had gone to the aquarium—before rising to his full height and having his turn at crushing Tsukasa in his embrace. Rui notices Tsukasa sniffling too as his fingers dig into Rui’s cardigan. Rui rubs his tear-ridden face against Tsukasa’s, nuzzling him.
Rui pulls back and catches Tsukasa’s face in one hand, brushing his thumb to wipe the stray tears that fall from Tsukasa’s auburn eyes. He eagerly connects their lips, Tsukasa gladly reciprocating the moment he realizes their lips connect them. Rui takes Tsukasa’s bottom lip between his teeth eagerly and relishes in the way Tsukasa’s slender hands trail up his back to find themselves tangled in Rui’s messy purple hair.
Tsukasa pulls away with a pant, not even catching his breath before—
“Welcome home, Rui.”
“We’re home.”
