When Bruce Wayne returned from a month long mission he didn't expect to find a bunny looking robot that had a mustache and was wearing a butler uniform and whose height barely reached his knees to greet him alongside his butler right as he stepped out of the batmobile..
“What..is this?” Bruce motioned to the bunny.
“It is a bangboo, sir.” Alfred said as if that answers any of his questions.
“Ehn-Na!” the bangboo supplied, raising its hand as its circle eyes turned into crescents. The bangboo barely reached his knees and its voice was mechanical. Not an animal then, but also not a robot construct that Bruce was familiar with.
“A..Bangboo.” Bruce said, still confused. He unclasped his cape and handed it to Alfred and walked towards the batcomputer to finish up his reports. If the bangboo construct had been allowed in the cave then Tim must’ve already checked it for malware and any viruses. Either it really had none or it was hidden really well in its codes. For now though, he’d trust his children's decision.
Bruce sighed as he stretched, finishing up his reports. He stood up and the bangboo ran up to him holding a platter of pancakes and tea.
“For me?”
“Nuh-Ehn-Na!” the bangboo said cheerfully
Not in the mood for sweets but also not wanting to reject its offer, Bruce picked the fork up and used it to cut himself a small piece. He ate it and drank a few sips of the tea and Bruce felt a little bit energized after that.
He pat the bangboo on its head, whispering a thank you, and it leaned to his touch. Bruce would be lying if he said he didnt find that cute. He sighed and walked towards the stairs, the bangboo trotting behind him. This all felt too familiar, Bruce was familiar with how Damian's schemes worked. He'd been victim to far too many of them, after all. Fist, he'd let someone else introduce the animal to Bruce. Then, he'd make the animal do all sorts of cute things. Finally, Damian with the animal would list to Bruce all of the reasons as to why he should keep the pet.
Reaching the end of the stairs, Bruce lets his eyes adjust to the light of his study waiting for the bangboo before closing the bookcase. As he exited the room, Damian just so happened to be taking a night stroll.
Before Damian could say anything, Bruce beat him to it.
“The bangboo will stay and tomorrow we’ll do a full checkup to check it for malware. Tim might have already gave it the greenlight but I’ll have to check for myself.” Bruce said, cutting Damian off.
Bruce really shouldn’t be this lenient, he really shouldn’t. But exhaustion seeped through his bones and maybe just maybe the bangboo construct wormed its way to his heart through its act of cuteness.
Damian and the bangboo looked at each other and silently celebrated. Bruce didn’t say yes but he didn't outright say no either and Damian already took that as a yes. Bruce watched as Damian and the bangboo went to his room. Bruce sighed as he heard giggles from around the corner. He was getting far too soft.
