Chapter 1: The Announcement
Chapter Text
INKOPOLIS- The world was shocked 2 months ago when pop sensation Callie Cuttlefish announced to the world she was getting engaged to Violet Toyama, an inkling who the pop star admitted to seeing for multiple years, but kept on the down low to ”prevent her from being drawn into drama“. Overall, her fiancee has stayed out of the spotlight during Seven Wishes' Dryrealm tour, and only now has returned due to the announcement of the two being wed.
But don't get your hopes up. The two squid have both claimed this will be a ”private affair“, and that the public will not be invited- nor will it be recorded. When Cuttlefish was questioned on this, she responded with ”wanting a quiet wedding.“ and ”not wanting to stress Violet out“. Mx. Toyama was also asked for their thoughts, claiming to ”prefer a quiet wedding (...) not liking the spotlight“
Though this is a disappointment to diehard fans of the Squid Sisters, this doesn't mean they are starved for content surrounding the wedding- Callie has confirmed to be doing a podcast with her cousin Marie and Violet shortly before the wedding, and the two are still doing concerts as a part of Seven Wishes.
Chapter 2: Plans
Summary:
Marina helps Violet and Callie with wedding plannings
Chapter Text
Marina Ida always liked planning things, down to the point where she planned out her and Pearl's wedding. So it was a given that Callie and Violet would turn to her to do the same.
As a result, the three sit in the living room of Pearl and Marina's manor, around a table. Masina holds a pencil in one hand, and taps the fingers of the other on the table.
“So, a small wedding is what you two want, right? Alongside out in the country... a good choice considering your fame, Callie.”
Violet nods.
“That's the case. Thinking during the spring, during cherry blossom season. It seems pretty, wouldn't you think?”
A nod from Marina, before she starts writing things down.
“So, color palette is next. Dresses and decorations and stuff can cost a lot, but I know you have a lot of money Callie. And I know my dear Pearlie can help if things get too exorbiant.”
The Octoling laughs, blushing a little. She loves her wife so much.
“Ooooh! Light pink, white, and light green! Those are like, the cherry blossom colors...” Callie interjects, leaning towards Marina. Violet lightly pulls the Inkling back.
“So kinda a sakura theme. Then next we need the date, a venue, guests...”
Violet laughs.
“Actually, we were thinking of getting married up in the countryside, in a more rural area instead of a venue.”
“Means it'll be a bit less pricey, good choice.” Marina responds, writing the info down. “I didn't mind Pearl and I's wedding being a big public thing, but it was stressful...”
“That's why I don't want one.” Violet says quietly.
“Understood. You know how many people are going to be invited.”
“Probably not a lot...” Callie says. “Obviously the Squidbeak, people like you and Pearl who are friendly with us, my family, Marie's family, and that's it really. 50 people tops.”
More writing from Marina.
“Not large...” she mutters to herself.
“Next is food.”
“More tradtional fare from Calamari County...” Violet states.
“Is there a company that does that?”
“I'm not sure, was hoping you would?” the Inkling asks.
Marina is quiet.
“I'm sure there are, but not sure if it's out of the area or not.”
“I'm sure with enough money people are willing to work and make good food!” Callie says. “Plus, I know many nice people in town who make amazing dishes.”
“Okay, then there's floral, getting the cake, photography, more than you'd think. Don't worry about knowing everything, this is only the first meeting.” Marina explains.
Thus, the group goes down a list made by Marina, the Octoling taking notes all the while.
—————
Soon, noon arrives and the three go into the kitchen- where Pearl is waiting.
“I made lunch for you guys!” the inkling happily says, gesturing to a pan that is so charred it's hard to tell what the food was meant to be.
Marina looks at the table, laughs awkwardly, and looks back up to her wife.
“Pearlie, it's the thought that counts, but well...”
She pauses.
“If that is even edible is up for debate- want me to heat up leftovers from last night?”
“If you think that's better...” Pearl complains.
“I just don't want people to stay healthy, that's all. Maybe I can help you with learning to cook.”
“Hell yeah!”
—————
After 30 or so minutes, the food is ready. The 4 inkfish sit around Pearl's kitchen table, chowing down on noodles, dumplings, and sesame chicken.
“So, what do you think so far? I've been trying to put effort into this...” Maria says, one of her head-tentacles slightly curing. “Planning is one of my favorite things to do.”
“You're doing super great! I can tell this will be so amazing!” Callie chirps, leaning towards Pearl and Marina.
“Honestly- as long as it doesn't end up over the top, it's fine. But well. I trust you; maybe if this goes well you could do this as a side project.”
Marina laughs.
“I've got enough to do already- having a side job would be too much.”
“Plus we're already rich enough!” Pearl yells.
“Regardless, I'm sure it will be a date to remember.” Violet says. “I think that's what counts.”
