Chapter Text
Hello, Dragon Age fans! Lately, as I have been looking for new games to captivate my heart, I have been so disappointed by the lack of depth and imagination at most game studios today (don’t get me started on Veilguard). When I first played Dragon Age: Origins, almost fifteen years ago now, I had no clue the way in which it would set the standard for fantasy games in my brain. Subconsciously, it is always my point of comparison when I explore new worlds and try to allow myself to suspend disbelief and try to be compelled by the new lore of other imaginary universes. Even the newer installations in the Dragon Age series fail to live up to the level of immersion and whimsy I felt when exploring Ferelden for the first time (and many, many subsequent times as well). For this reason, my thoughts often drift to the post-Fifth Blight world of Thedas – and the considerable head-canon I have built up through the years. At this point, I have imagined so many storylines and adventures (often while trying to fall asleep at night) that I thought it might be a good idea to write some of it down to get a better grasp on the branching and swirling opus of ideas for my Hero of Ferelden and his companions that dance around in my grey matter. I am not a natural writer but will do my best to make it as interesting as possible for readers that aren’t me – and to stay as true to the lore of DAO (with selective inclusion of some lore from future games I also think is reasonable).
When the final page of the epilogue closes in Dragon Age: Origins, the Hero of Ferelden is an all-powerful protagonist, capable of ordaining kings and slaying gods. The fact that this character is scarcely mentioned, let alone never reappearing, in future installments is less than believable for any DAO player who knows that their Warden is capable of anything – having seen them through the Deep Roads, the Fade, a civil war, and a werewolf epidemic before single-handedly ending a blight – all before the rest of Thedas was any the wiser. For this reason, my head-canon departs sharply from the canon established after 9:31 Dragon, as I think many of yours do as well. I've written some 30k words in this series already and will be posting new chapters here intermittently as I find time to edit them -- there is a good chance I will review what is already published and edit it as well. Some chapters will be longer than others and the story's timeline will not progress in any sort of a consistent pattern. Sue me. Comments are encouraged, let me know what you think (or if you spot any errors)!
Update:
I've developed this story quite a bit more than I had initially intended. There are sexual undertones throughout, but the sexiest chapters would be 14, 15, and 25 (so far) Hope you enjoy!
