Chapter 1: This Attraction
Chapter Text
Prologue
They say dreams can prophesy the future. I once had a dream that I was visiting Australia, and after a full day of beach gazing and pursuing the local shops, I boarded a train as the sun was setting over the ocean. But I wasn't alone.
There was a man with me on that train, a handsome stranger dressed in white that I don't recall ever meeting in my lifetime. His short, dark brown hair feathered over his brow to frame his face and rich brown eyes that glowered warmly in the light of the setting sun. His smile tugged at my heart and his laugh gave me the purest of butterflies in my stomach.
I recall the scene so vividly, the sound of the train humming in the background, the way the sun was half swallowed by the depths of the ocean as I gazed out the window, and then back at him as we spoke about nothing in particular. As we chatted and laughed together in the train car, I felt I knew him well. Like we had been longtime friends. And as the hue of the sun glowered an aurora of pink and orange, we played a game of tag throughout the many train cars that linked together, passing and weaving from one grab bar to the next, the man would chase after me, chuckling at our childish game.
But eventually, he would stop and stare out the darkened window, the sun now complacently sunk under the waves of the darkened depths as we crossed the bridge of Sydney. I would pause our silly game and wrap my arms around his slender waist, my cheek pressed to his sculpted back as I spoke his name, “Bang Chan…I love you.” I would whisper to him and he laughed, amused by the notion while he placed his hand over my arms. And once I uttered those words, I would wake, startled and sitting up in my bed, feeling loss and mourning for the mysterious stranger I didn't know I loved.
…………………………………………………….
I swam through the darkened waters with precision and vigilance, tracking down my next meal. A young man probably in his mid twenties, a U.S. Navy man who just so happened to be crossing the Chesapeake Bay. My sister and I didn't hunt often and we liked to keep our kills to a minimum. But every once in a while, our primitive instinct took over and we just couldn't resist the lure of a fresh meal.
In the days of old, sirens were said to be deadly, beautiful creatures that lured sailors to their deaths. We were omens of great misfortune, a catastrophic menace to all men who dared to enter our waters. While that may have been true in those times, these days, we are solitary creatures, preferring to hunt alone and fade into the background of modern day human life. With modern day technology, the introduction of airplanes and such, not as many humans chose to travel by sea anymore. Thus, we were forced to shed our tails and walk on land to find our food sources.
“Are you sure it's this one?” My sister transferred her thoughts to me, a simple ability we sirens possessed to communicate. I glanced at her, my dark hair billowing around me in a dancing cloud beneath the water's surface.
“Yes. There's only two men aboard. They're alone and taking this ship back to harbor. If we want to eat tonight, we have to act fast.” I told her telepathically. I watched her nod, her red hair reflecting hues of dark burgundy beneath the darkened waves swirling around her face in the streaming moonlight.
I surfaced carefully, looking up at the ship as it gently glided against the surface. I gripped the bars of the railing and pulled myself up onto the deck of the small naval vessel. My body hit the floor of the deck with a soft thud as my tail followed behind me, slapping the hardwood beneath me. I felt my tail begin to separate as my legs morphed in, leaving me breathless from the transformation. If you think it's not a painful process, I can assure you, you're wrong. I must have screamed out in pain as soon as the transformation began because one of the men on the ship came running out towards me.
“What the…hey, who are you? How did you get on the ship?” The naval officer called out, shining his flashlight on me. His eyes widened when he saw me, a young woman laying on the deck, long dark hair dripping, just barely covering my bare breasts, shivering from the coolness of the night air and not wearing a damn thing. “Oh…oh my..” he said breathlessly, as though the seeds of desire were beginning to take root.
I was suddenly thankful it was just the two of them. My sister and I had taken down fleets of Naval men before. They were the perfect prey. Naval men vanished at sea all the time from various mysterious means, so no one would bat an eyelash. Even if they launched investigations, they could never prove our existence. We were good at what we did. The perfect amphibious hunters, land or sea, it didn't matter. Our charms were irresistible and we always liked to utilize every part of the animal.
I smiled, pushing myself up off of the ship’s deck, humming my siren song to lock in on him. He dropped his flashlight that hit the deck with a clank and clattered off the side of the boat, sinking into the dark bay below. I watched him take a step, and then another as I continued to sing for him. At the front of the ship, my sister’s song joined in to harmonize with mine. I took a few steps of my own and the man picked up his pace, coming to my aid immediately. I grabbed his jacket collar, pressing my naked body against him. He wrapped his arms around my waist and I grinned at him, placing my hands on either side of his face to bring him down to kiss me. I pressed my lips against his. Same old reaction. He pulled me harder against him, getting entranced by my allure. But honestly, for me it was like kissing a dead fish.
That's when I heard it. The ear piercing scream of the captain coming from the wheelhouse up above. My sister didn't like to play with her food as much. I chuckled, pulling back and grinning at the man before feeling my teeth grow long and pointed. “Huh?” The man said, the scream of his captain bringing him out of my allure for just a split second. I didn't care. I was almost done anyway. I reered my head back and chomped down on the man's neck, ripping out his jugular.
The man screamed out in agony, falling to his knees as his blood filled my mouth, sending thrills down my spine and throughout my body. In hindsight, it wasn't as if I wanted to do this. Murdering men in cold blood. I always did it the fastest way possible in order to minimize their suffering. But I couldn't deny what I was. A siren of the sea, who had begun to bore with the same old hunting grounds. I need more variety in my diet these days. But my sister and I had been working the Chesapeake Bay for years now. It was getting old, and these men tasted all the same.
My victim fell lifeless at my feet and I licked the blood that dropped down my forearm. Dropping to my knees, I feasted on him until his bones were licked clean. My sister emerged from the wheelhouse down to the bow, covered in her victims blood.
“I don't know about you, but I love it when they scream.” Hyacinth said, picking the last bit of meat off of a femur. I sighed, assessing the situation. We needed to dispose of the bones and clean up our mess. We were always careful not to leave any traces behind.
We piled the bones in a burlap bag along with a cement block we found on the ship, tying it tightly so none of the bones escaped to float to the surface. After dumping them into the deepest part of the bay, we washed the blood off of every surface and burned the men's uniforms in an empty barrel before diving back into the depths. This was standard procedure. We were smart hunters. There were only two rules. Never fall in love with your prey, and never leave any traces of your hunt.
“Hyacinth…all these men are starting to taste the same. We should think about relocating. Besides, the U.S military is starting to catch on about the numbers we've racked up of missing sailors.” I told her, wanting a change. Besides, blending into human society wasn't easy here and definitely wasn't how I had hoped it would be going. I needed a change.
“You're right…I have an idea! It's going to be quite the swim, but I have always wanted to visit Australia.” She replied, enthusiastically. I let out another exasperated sigh.
“You just had to say that …” I said softly, remembering the dream I had the night before. Of this Bang Chan individual. Was he really in Australia? Was he even real? I knew it was just a dream, but the feelings I had for this man…why were they so strong? I hadn't even met the man.
“Oh come on Allura, you know it's been my lifelong dream to see Australia. What's stopping us? We’ve finished college and are between jobs. We only need one thing. Food and the sea, which I imagine there's plenty of over there.” She continued to try to convince me. I pondered it for a moment, something inside me telling me it was too dangerous. But I have to admit, the curiosity in me was dying to find out what awaited me there.
“Fine. We can go to Australia. But let's take a plane like a normal human. Swimming nearly halfway across the world would be exhausting.” I said, giving in to her pleading.
She squealed, bouncing excitedly beside me as I dove into the dark Waters of the bay once more, feeling my legs morph once more into a powerful fishlike tail. Under the guise of the water, I heard my own muffled screams ring out as my sister followed suit.
“I could hear you scream from the surface. Is it still that painful for you?” She asked, sending her thoughts straight to my mind.
“I'm sorry. I assumed no one could hear me underwater. But yes, it's still that painful.” I told her as we swam back to the shore.
“You don't eat enough to support the transformation. I keep telling you to hunt more on land.” She replied as if it were that simple.
“You know I hate that. I don't like hurting people.” I said, the pain finally subsiding in my tail. She finally caught up with me, her eyes locking with mine.
“You should let go of that notion. It's in our nature. Every living creature has to eat to survive. Humans are our natural prey. Yes we’re omnivorous, but our true nutrients come from humans. This is unavoidable. Even humans hunt the land creatures to survive. Your powers would be stronger if you hunted more too.” She lectured. I knew she was right. But something in me…perhaps the humanity in me, didn't want to accept this reality.
That night, we boarded a plane to Australia. I fell asleep on the flight and had another dream about the same man. Except this time, he was different. He was dressed in a black suit, a long black leather coat and a red tie. His hair was styled differently and he had heterochromic eyes, one being a cloudy white with a slitted pupil, the other a normal warm brown like in the previous dream. I was chained to a bed, tied up with some kind of red rope. The room was lit by a red light itself as he loomed over me, a predatory look on his face as he peered down at me. Was this really the same guy? I lurched, struggling against my restraints to get free. But it was no use. I was too weak and at his mercy. He had a familiar look in his eyes. One I had seen so many times in the eyes of my own prey. A lustful longing and obsession. But it wasn't due to my siren song. Something else? I looked back up at my captor, a dark liquid dripping from the corner of his mouth as he dragged his tongue over his rather large….sharpened canine. A fang? But…who was this demon?
I woke up screaming this time, a terror I hadn't felt before. A more dangerous predator than I had ever been or dealt with before. Hyacinth jumped in the seat next to me.
“Allura?! Are you alright? Was it a bad dream?” She asked, worry showing evident on her brow. I took a deep breath, trying to shake the nightmare and come back to my senses. It was all just a dream.
“Yeah….Sorry to worry you.” I said softly as the staff tried to calm the passengers around us, seeing I had startled quite a few people in my sudden outburst.
“It's alright now. You're safe.” Hyacinth said, reaching out and pulling my head against her shoulder. I took a deep breath and relaxed against her to calm myself down. Apparently I was shaking. What a crazy response my body was having to this dream. I had never felt so much fear and….arousal? What the hell was going on with me?
Bang Chan’s POV
Bang Chan boarded the train in Sydney, a passenger running along the coast. The sun was setting over the water on the horizon and he couldn't shake the strange feeling he was having. This compulsion wasn’t normal. Usually he was the creature doing the compelling. All he had to do was look his victim in the eye and they flocked to him like lost sheep. He didn't normally ride trains, but there was sweet allure in the air around the train station. One he simply could not ignore.
His eyes flashed from one passenger to the next as he made his way through each car, the sweet scent of a rich elixir assaulting his senses and completely consuming him. Why was this person's blood so appealing to him? He couldn't even find the source. It was driving him absolutely insane. Finally, he stepped foot onto the last car of the train, the strong hold the scent had on him constricting around his throat as his hand clenched into a fist, taking every bit of his willpower to maintain composure.
His eyes fell on a girl, seemingly in her mid twenties with long dark brown hair and amber eyes that seemed entirely too big for her face. She was alone, talking on her phone to someone. She seemed distraught but her gaze relaxed when staring out the window at the water, almost longingly. He knew that feeling. It had been such a long time since he had gotten the chance to enjoy the ocean. Beaches didn't fair well with the monster he had become. And the sun was bad for his skin nowadays. But before, back when he was human, he loved it more than anything.
It was her…the source of the sweetness he had been following. Who was she? More importantly, why did she smell so mouth watering? If he could taste that sweet nectar, he was sure he would lose control. Bang Chan positioned himself at the front of the car, doing his best to filter out the voices around him to focus in on her phone conversation. Was he eavesdropping? Perhaps. But she had piqued his interest.
“I know, I know…I just went for a little swim. I'll be back shortly…Uh huh, yeah. Of course I'll be careful. Try not to worry. I'm on the train now. I'll bring you something delicious.” She said to whoever was on the other line. A friend? A boyfriend perhaps? The thought of her having a man in her life made him furious, for what reason he had no idea. He didn't even know this woman, but Chan felt a sense of possessive nature engulf every fiber of his being. What was going on? None of this made any sense to him, but he was determined to find out.
The woman turned her phone off and shoved it in her pocket, her eyes flashing up to meet his cold stare. She froze, as if she had seen a ghost. In fact she looked like her complexion had paled several shades from the sun kissed glow she was beaming mere seconds ago. Chan held her gaze, calmly sitting down on the seat in the corner, facing her. He leaned forward, resting his forearms on his knees as he ran his tongue over his elongated canines, his predatory instincts kicking in as he watched her.
Her breath hitched as they made eye contact and he could tell her heart rate was racing. He normally had this effect on his prey, but it was as if recognition clicked within her. He was sure he hadn't met her anywhere before, but she seemed as if she knew something he didn't.
The train came to multiple stops, and each time Bang Chan would pay close attention to see if the girl got up and moved. She sat there, quietly listening to whatever music she had playing in her earphones and brazenly staring out the window. He wondered what her allure was. What secrets she held and why he had been so drawn to her in the first place. He noticed her glancing at him and caught her gaze a few times. But each time their eyes would lock, even for a second, hers would dart off in another direction as if she were trying to pretend like he hadn't noticed. He smirked, watching her face turn a shade pinker than before. He leaned back and tried not to freak her out too much. Granted he knew that she was just another snack. A meal he could take back to his nest. Hyunjin probably hadn't fed in some time. However, he started to think maybe he didn't want to share this delicacy. No…this one was all his.
The train came into station and he noticed the girl standing up, grabbing her beach tote bag and stuffing her phone into her back pocket. It was dark now. He could easily hunt her. All he needed to do was follow his nose if they got separated. He could simply keep his distance and track her down once they were alone.
He got off the train and followed her scent, keeping his eyes on the back of her head several paces behind her. She left the station and slipped down a back alley. Perfect! Almost…too perfect. It was as if…she were leading him to a secluded area on purpose. Were her senses that sharp? Had she seen him following her? He hadn't the slightest clue, but he did know one thing. He was entirely invested at this point. And the thrill of the pull she had on him was enough to keep him pursuing her at any cost. However, once she rounded a few more corners, she stopped and stared ahead, silent and still. It was as if she had detected something. Detected him perhaps? No. That was impossible for a vampire of his status. This was his chance.
Bang Chan dropped from the building above her. Oh what? Did you think he was following her on foot the whole time? You're only half correct. Chan sought the high ground once in the main streets of the city, carefully calculating her every move and stalking her from rooftop to rooftop. He sank his canines into neck, wrapping his immovable arms around her waist to lock in his prey. The instant he got a taste of her blood, his body reacted, almost as if in a state of euphoria. The woman screamed out, tore herself away from him with more ease than a human would typically possess against a being of his stature. Chan was caught off guard, his eyes wide with a state of not only confusion, but utter shock at the situation and the effect her blood was having on him even with such the small amount that coated his fangs. He licked his lips, running his tongue over his blood coated fangs. Her eyes had changed. Her once very human amber eyes had changed to a foggy, slitted amphibious version of them. She bared her own fangs, hissing at him with a monstrous pitch that crippled his senses.
The girl grabbed him by the collar of his jacket and slammed him against the siding of the brick building he had dropped down from with such force that it cracked the wall behind him. “Who the hell are you?!” She demanded. Interesting, he thought.
“Shit ..” he cursed, grabbing her by her hips and shoving her against the scaffolding. Her head made hard contact with the metal structure and her grip on his jacket loosened. He took this opportunity to sink his fangs into her neck just above her collarbone. The taste of her blood was different. Like nothing he had ever tasted before. It was sweet and savory, laced with an addictive substance he wasn't quite sure of. She grabbed at him, trying to push him off of her, but he was locked in now, and ravenous. He hadn't lost control like this in a very long time.
The girl’s movements slowed and eventually her limbs went limp and she slumped against him, falling unconscious either by hitting her head or the blood loss. He wanted to keep drinking. In fact, he would have drained her dry in that alleyway. But something possessed him to stop. He needed answers. Just who…or what was the girl he was holding in his arms? And why was she so damn addictive?
He chuckled at the mere intrigue she had sparked in him as he relinquished her body to the pavement, gazing upon her comatose state. Interesting, he thought…Interesting indeed.

Chapter Text
I awoke groggily, coming to in an unfamiliar room, the glow of red lights dimming my vision. The scent of blood was in the air…but it was different from the smell of most humans. It was the aroma of my own kind. A siren’s blood. My blood.
I tried to sit up, but only got so far as lifting my head and shoulders just barely off of the cushioned surface I was laying on, a tight tug at my wrists keeping my body down and in place. “What the…?” I whispered, looking down and seeing my wrists tightly bound by thick red rope to the…bed I was laying on? What the hell? Glancing around, I found that I was in some sort of abandoned warehouse judging by metal paneling and various types of machinery and pallets stacked throughout the large room I now found myself in. Had I been kidnapped? Just then the sound of a musical chuckle broke me out of my thoughts.
“So you’re awake?” A smooth voice said and I snapped my head in the direction it had come from, where a tall slender figure loomed in the doorway. His black hair shagged down over his ears and neck, his eyes smoldering as he looked at me. He smirked, running his tongue over what looked like a fang peeking out from his top lip.
“Who…who the hell are you? Where am I?” I snapped, trying to sound intimidating, however my voice was a little hoarse. How long had I been out? The man chuckled and pushed himself away from the doorframe, quite amused by my questions.
“Patience, my pet. You’re alive. That’s more than you could ask for after Chan nearly drank you dry. You’re lucky…Chris has a bad habit of losing control and leaving his victim’s corpses where they drop. He’s quite a handful.” he said, dropping down to my level and crouching at the bedside while resting his elbows on his knees. Now that he was closer, I could see his features more clearly. He was beautiful. His high cheekbones were defined in the red light, a small mole kissing his face just below his left eye. His thick, pouty lips turned up in an amused grin.
“You psychopath. Let me go!” I tried to scream at him, but I was much weaker than I thought. It came out more like a whisper. He chuckled at my failed attempts to sound threatening.
“You remember, don't you? How my dear friend nearly ripped your throat out in that alley?”
“Hyunjin! Enough.” Another man’s voice snapped from the doorway. My eyes snapped up to see another beautiful man, well dressed with a long black overcoat cloaking the expensive looking clothes beneath, his hands in his pockets as he stared back at me intensely. His dark hair was styled cleanly, a few loose strands falling over his brow. His eyes were familiar. The same heterochromic ones I remembered from the second version of the man who plagued my dreams as of late. This was him…Bang Chan. Holy shit, he was real?
“Ah, Chan. You’re back early. I was hoping to play with our new pet for a bit longer.” the man named Hyunjin said as he stood and turned toward him. Bang Chan stepped into the room and gracefully made his way to the foot of the bed I was tied down to.
“Sorry about him. He’s uh…not used to guests.” Bang Chan said and suddenly flashes of memory from the alleyway came flooding back to me. His overpowering strength..his speed and agility. His fangs piercing my neck and my life force being drained at an alarming rate. Immediately, I was rage fueled red. I lurched at him, my restraints doing their job and keeping me down on the bed. But just barely. I bared my fangs at him and he just stood there, a small smirk on his face. “Hmm…what’s your name sweetheart?”
“None of your fucking business, blood sucker. What the hell are you really?” I retorted. He chuckled and moved closer, grabbing my chin and forcing me to look up at him, his intense stare bore into my very soul. I could feel myself growing calmer, as if I had been given a sedative.
“That’s what I’d like to ask you. What are you? I’ve roamed this earth for hundreds of years and I’ve never encountered a creature like you before. Not many can match our strength and pure predatory instinct. You’re not a vampire. So what. The. Fuck…are you?” he said leaning down closer to my face, his eyes never leaving my gaze.
“Up yours…freaking vampire. Give me a damn break.” I said, much more calmly and relaxed. Whatever he was doing to me, I was definitely flying high. Something flashed in his eyes, a moment of anger or annoyance.
“Excuse the fuck out of me?” he growled and the man called Hyunjin who had taken a seat in the foldable metal chair across the room chimed in with his musical laughter.
“Well that’s a first. I’ve never seen your compulsion fail so miserably Chan!” Hyunjin taunted and Bang Chan roughly let my chin go as he growled at his friend.
“Shut the hell up! This isn’t funny.”
“It’s pretty hilarious from this angle.” Hyunjin replied, rather playful in his teasing.
“Why are you like this?” he groaned and Hyunjin just laughed in response.
“Compulsion…that’s real?” I asked, chuckling at this new revelation. “Looks like it’s not working to the level you’re used to. My will is strong. You won’t have an easy time. I eat men like you for brekkie.” I taunted him, completely loopy, but still able to be of sound mind.
Bang Chan looked at me with a cold expression, so not amused I was mouthing off to him. Or perhaps it was because his little magic tricks didn’t have as strong of an effect on me. Hyunjin cackled in the background. “Hyunjin…do me a favor and get lost. I need to contend with this.” Hyunjin’s laughter ceased immediately and he made a swift exit, leaving the two of us to stare daggers at each other.
“Go easy on her Chan. You can still kill her. And if you get another taste of her blood, you’ll be hard to control.” Hyunjin’s velvety voice echoed as his footsteps faded down the hallway.
“My blood. Is that what this is about? Are you going to keep me as your personal blood bag?” I said to Chan once Hyunjin was out of earshot. Chan smirked, pulling his black gloves off and walking over to set them on the dusty table beside the bed I was tied to.
“Perceptive aren’t we? But no. You’re only partially correct. I brought you here because you intrigue me. The scent of your blood and the unique rhythm of your beating heart was what lured me to you. That part is true. But there’s just something about you that draws me to you. You're here because you're mine…that’s it. I want you…and I’m going to break you, darling.” Chan explained as he sat down next to me on the bed, reaching out and brushing my hair out of my face, his touch feather light against my cheek.
“I’m…going to be yours? Hah! In your dreams buddy. In what universe will that happen? I won’t be so easy to break Bang Chan.”I reply, baring my siren fangs at him. He let out an amused chuckle.
“Don’t underestimate me darling. You have no idea…what I’m capable of.” he said, placing his hand on my thigh. My whole body suddenly froze and my breath hitched as soon as he touched me.
“Perhaps I don’t. But in the same turn, you have no idea what I’m capable of either. All I have to do is sing my song and you’ll be at my mercy.” I say, feeling a fire building up inside of me. I wasn’t sure what it was, but this man was having an effect on me. As a siren, usually I was the one creating the lust within men. I hadn’t been on the other side of this kind of thing before. I knew this was a very bad situation, but I couldn’t deny the attraction I felt. Especially in this moment…all tied up and at his mercy.
Chan stared at me and raised an eyebrow, “Sing your song? What on earth are you-” he started to say before I cut him off with my voice. I started singing, using my voice in an attempt to subdue him. “What…what are you doing?” I knew I didn’t have the best voice, but usually these notes worked. He leaned closer to me, his face an inch from mine. My song slowly faded as I realized I had met my match. “If you’re trying to control me with that cute little mermaid song of yours, you’ll be sadly disappointed. I’m already lured onto you.” he said, his breath warm on my lips as he spoke.
“Siren…to be exact. Mermaids are much nicer.” I corrected him. His laugh was light hearted, satisfied that he finally got an answer out of me.
“A siren huh? How cute. Was that so hard? Now that I finally have my answer, I think this is starting to make sense.” he said as he pulled away all too soon. I bit my lip and watched him closely, pouting a little that he enacted the distance between us. Why was I upset? I had no clue. Nothing about this situation was making a lick of sense to me. “In that case, I think I’ll indeed keep you, tied up and looking so pretty in my care.” he added, his hand slowly running up my thigh, his eyes scanning my body carefully.
“Keep me? You can’t just keep me tied up like this. My sister will come for me. And when she does she’ll rip you and your little underling to shreds.” I warned him, mostly because it was true. Hyacinth was likely to realize I never returned from the trip to the beach. She knew I was getting off the train. She would be able to pick up my scent at the station and follow it to find me. It was only just a matter of time. “Why would you want to keep a siren like me anyway? I’ll be nothing but trouble to you.”
“Ooh, I’d like to see her try. Besides…you’re not going anywhere sweetheart. And I want to keep you because you’re an interesting…and beautiful creature. As for you being nothing but trouble, I don’t think that’s true at all. Having a siren at my side…could be quite beneficial.” Chan replied, his thumb rubbing smooth circles on my skin, finding a rough patch of scales to fixate on.
“Beneficial? How could I be of use to someone like you?” I asked and he looked up and met my eyes, his single brown and white orbs surging with delight and intrigue. He ran his hand further up my thigh, sliding up to grip my hip and I let out a small squeak. He smirked at my reaction and I hated myself for showing my weakness like this to him.
“You sing like that…and the blood bags will come to us. Granted…I can’t deny your blood is probably the most…sweet and delectable blood I’ve ever tasted. I’ve lived for many years and traveled the world more times than I can count…and I’ve never quite encountered such an addictive specimen as you, my dear.” he said, moving in to whisper low in my ear. His voice sent shivers down my spine. “So…forgive me if I indulge from time to time.”
“If I am not given a choice, you better take damn good care of me.” I say, squirming from our position and the lustful look in his eyes. He was like a lion, about to pounce on his lioness. A dangerous predator, but one who controls the lands on which he prowled and would stop at nothing to fulfil his wildest desires. “That is, until I escape.”
“Oh believe me, I’ll take good care of you. I’ll make sure you’re well fed and cared for…and satisfied.” he said, whispering the last part in my ear, his voice soft and sensual. My eyes widened as he said that, the excitement I felt was jarring. Why did he have this effect on me? Was it the work of his compulsion? No...his compulsion didn’t work like that on me. What was wrong with me?
“S-satisfied? I replied, finding it hard to speak in this position.
“Mhm…satisfied…in every way, my darling siren. You’re mine now. And I’m going make sure you’re well taken care of. And that includes satisfying your needs…and mine.” he said, his voice liquid silver. He bared his fangs and grazed my neck, nipping at the skin just above my collarbone. I let out another small yip and he chuckled, pressing his lips against the same spot. “You’ll be so deliciously satisfied, you’ll no longer desire such freedom.” I bit my lip, holding back a soft moan that wanted to escape my lips.
“Have your fun while you can. I’ll escape Chan…just you wait.” I said as my strong will was beginning to weaken. As if on cue, a commotion started from somewhere down the hall. An ungodly screeching accompanied by screams sounded. The walls thundered and shook around us as whatever was happening implied that someone had likely been thrown through a wall or something to that accord. Chan sat up, alarmed. I smirked up at him, knowing exactly what kind of battle was ensuing.
“My sister is here.” I stated, smugly. He glanced at me and our eyes locked for a moment before he hesitantly bolted out of the room.

Chapter Text
Bang Chan rushed out into the loading dock of the warehouse just in time to witness Hyunjin’s body fly across the room, slamming into the wall as if he'd been hurled by an invisible entity.
“I came for my sister. Where the hell is she?” a woman’s voice snarled from the entryway. Damn! Bang Chan had been careful to cover his tracks bringing the siren back here, but it seems he underestimated their ability to track their own kind.
Hyunjin groaned, peeling himself off the ground, holding his head in his palm. He chuckled, his fangs glinting in the fluorescent lighting of the warehouse. “Welcome to the party, Chan…It seems your new obsession has family.”
The woman stepped into the light, her fiery red hair cascading down her back, silver eyes all but glowing. She had a familiar scent, similar to his captive siren tied up in the other room. Somehow it didn’t do it for him quite like hers did. “Did I fuckin’ studder? Where. Is. My. Sister?!”
Hyunjin all but teleported, moving so fast Bang Chan could hardly see him move. His speed and power was immense. It was no wonder why he dared not defy him. Before Chan could react, Hyunjin had the intruder by the throat, trapped in his clutches and pinning her against a stack of pallets.
“You have a lot of nerve walking in here making demands of me.” Hyunjin growled. He leaned in closer and whispered against her ear, “If you wish to see your sister so badly, perhaps I’ll grant you that wish.”
“What the… hell did… you do to… her?” the woman croaked, finding it difficult to speak in her current state with Hyunjin practically crushing her windpipe.
“She’s alive…And she’s mine. I won’t let you take her from me!” Bang Chan exclaimed just as the woman managed to grab Hyunjin’s wrist and twisting backwards a loud snap echoed throughout the loading dock. Hyunjin cried out in pain and frustration as she flipped him on his back, pinning him down with her foot on his chest. Hyujin grabbed her ankle and threw her down on the ground next to him with a satisfying thud. With a temporary broken wrist, Bang Chan knew Hyunjin was pissed now. This would affect his ability to paint, the vampire’s favorite pastime. In the centuries he’d spent with Hyunjin, he knew his passions well and that he was probably the most talented artist the world had ever known. But with a broken wrist, he’d have to pause his creative channels.
Hyunjin pinned her down and reared his head back, his fangs fully extended, before chomping down on her clavicle. The woman screamed out in agony, furiously sucking her down, crimson blood flowing from the corners of his mouth.
“Hyunjin? Hyunjin…Hyunjin Stop!” Bang Chan’s voice thundered over the ginger’s screams when he hadn’t let up in ample time. Chan dashed over to Hyunjin, pulling him off of the girl crumpled on the ground, nearly dead and grasping onto her last strings of life. “You’re going to bloody kill her!”
“Hyacinth!” the siren whom Chan had left restrained in the storage room shouted in terror. She sprinted over to her sister who had fallen unconscious from blood loss and scooped her up in her arms. “No…what did you do?!” she growled at them, her hands trembling as she attempted to stop the bleeding with her own hands.
“I’m…I’m sorry! Hyunjin let his anger consume him. She’s still alive and will probably survive. Hyunjin, you need to give her some of your blood. It’s the only way.”Chan said leaning next to his siren. Hyunjin growled and bit open his wrist, the only good one he had left and approached the sirens. Chan’s siren slapped Hyunjin’s hand away as he leaned down to help her sister.
“No! Don’t you fucking touch her!” she snarled and Hyunjin rolled his eyes, obviously annoyed by her rebellion. Chan sighed and wrapped his arm around his siren.
“Darling, you have to let him give her his blood, otherwise she is going to die in your arms. Trust me…I had to feed you my blood after our tussle in the alley. It’s why you’re still alive and breathing.” Chan said soothingly. She looked at him desperately, her eyes glistening with tears trickling down her cheeks.
“S-Save her…” she barely whispered, her entire frame quaking with fear of losing her sister, “Save her damnit!” she practically screamed, turning to Hyunjin who looked as though his undead heart had softened ever so slightly.
“Move aside.” he said calmly, crouching down beside her sister and pulling her into his lap so he could drip the blood pooling his wrist into her mouth. The girl gurgled as the blood slipped down her throat and moments later she coughed, rolling in Hyunjin’s arms. He held her tightly so she wouldn’t fall off his lap and hit her head on the cement. “She’ll be fine. She needs to rest now.”
“This was your fault. If you hadn’t kidnapped me off the streets, she wouldn’t have had to track me down and end up like this!” Allura snapped, her eyes fierce as she turned on Chan.
“Your sister is strong. She broke into my keep and snapped my painting hand. She asked for this.” Hyunjin stated coldly. “Don’t blame Chan. This was my doing.”
“I’m sorry, you’re responsible for my kidnapping?” her gaze snapped onto Hyunjin once more. Hyunjin smirked and his eyes locked with Bang Chan’s momentarily.
“Oh no, Sweetheart. That was all his choice. You were his choice.”
“Why? Why me? I thought vampires only did this to humans.” Allura’s voice cracked as she stood, her legs wobbling like a new born foal’s.
“I told you already…it had to be you. I can’t shake this feeling that you’re supposed to be here with me. If I let you go…” Chan began to say, feeling like he was getting punched in the stomach. He couldn’t fathom the idea of this connection…this feeling he’s only ever felt once before, suddenly fading away like a fever dream.
“You could though. You could let me go! Let us go…” she said, her voice wavering as her knees gave out and her body crumpling to the floor. Chan scooped her up in his arms, a look of alarm crossing his features. “Ahh! Are you alright?” he exclaimed, noticing that she looked pale and oh so fragile in his embrace. She was still shaking a little and the color drained from her face.
“I’m a siren. I’ve been away from any kind of water source for more than 48 hours. If I go too long without submerging, I’ll die.” she explained, her breathing being strained as she looked up at him.
“A water source…that makes sense, considering. Hyunjin, take care of her sister. Don’t do anything rash.” Chan stated, standing up with his siren in his arms and carrying her to the emergency shower in the back of the warehouse and pulling the switch. He stepped underneath the showerhead and let the water run over them both, completely soaking them.
Allura began writhing in agony as she transformed, her legs melding together as the pants she was wearing expanded and completely ripped off, falling at Chan’s feet. In their place was a long, massive siren’s tail, bluish gray in color complete with fish scales. Chan gasped, adjusting to the weight distribution as her tail flopped over the bend in his elbow. “Holy…fish.”
“I wasn’t kidding…about being a siren.” she said, attempting to catch her breath. “Where is my sister?”
“Don’t worry, Hyunjin is taking care of her.” he said reassuringly, his siren flicking her tail as he cradled her in his arms, the water dripping from the ends of his dark hair.
“Don’t think this makes us ok. I will escape this place with my sister in tow. You can’t keep me bound here. I belong to the sea…just like you.” she said, looking deep into his eyes.
“What…what are you talking about?” he asked, a look of confusion crossing his features. A small smile curled her lips.
“I’ve seen it. Inside your memories. It’s a siren’s ability. Though I’ve never used it before. You’re my first.”
“Really? Well then, I don’t know if I’m honored or slightly disturbed.” he replied, smirking at her as she just so openly revealed this little fact to him without any hesitation at all. Chan knew there was a reason he was drawn to her, but with this development, it was even more intriguing.
“I suppose both responses are expected. It’s an invasion of privacy, so I have never used this ability. But you being my captor, well…I have to delve for my own safety.”
“I won’t harm you.” he stated simply, trying to convince her he wasn’t the terrible guy she thought him to be. Sure, he practically ripped out her throat in the alleyway, fed her vampire blood, and tied her up in a warehouse. But, he wanted her to see him for who he really was. Granted, first impressions being everything, he wasn’t sure if his image was repairable in her eyes. It was only natural that she’d want to escape. Even humans were the same when faced with a life or death situation. “What have you seen?”
“You…It was you by the ocean, walking the shoreline, collecting seashells. Another time, you were swimming and then just sitting on the beach watching the waves roll by. You love the sea, almost as much as I do.” she said, her voice practically a whisper, gentle and evoking some kind of emotion that he hadn’t felt in a very long time. Chan swallowed hard, the memories from his human life flooding back to him in one fell swoop.
“You know, it’s not nice to crawl around in someone's head. That love for the sea…it was fleeting.”
“You’re lying. You still do it. Though sunlight is hard for you to bear, you sneak off in the dead of night and still go to her. I’ve seen you in the moonlight. Fresh memories. There’s nothing you can hide from a siren….” Allura pulled on his collar to get him to look at her once more, “ especially your deepest desires.” she whispered in his ear with a melodic tone in her voice.
“If you’re trying to convince me to let you go still, it’s not happening. You know too much now. I couldn’t let you walk the streets to get propositioned by my enemies now, could I?”
“Your enemies? Of course you have enemies.” she sighed, exasperated, her tail flopping once more. “You can step out of the water. It’s enough.”
“You’re sure?” he asked, wanting to ensure she was sufficiently supplied with what she needed for her health.
“As much as I’m enjoying the view, yes.” Allura stated, breaking eye contact. Wow, an open book indeed. Chan raised an eyebrow at her as her statement rolled around in his mind a few times before it clicked. He smirked and stepped out of the water, turning it off and carrying her back to the separate storage room he was keeping her in. He set her down on the mattress and helped her position her tail so it wasn’t hanging off too much. Chan may be a blood devouring demon, but he was a gentleman at heart. He always took great care when handling something, or someone precious to him.
“Tell you what. If you promise not to run away, I don’t have to tie you up.” he said she smiled at him with a sassy look in her eyes.
“I’m not going anywhere with a tail. It will take me a bit to dry out and change back since I haven’t been getting the water I need, it makes the transforming part harder.” she stated and he nodded, noting that tidbit of information to use at his disposal. The more he learned about her, the more fascinated he became.
“Fair point. How else can I help you feel better?” he asked. Allura’s eyes widened, having not expected such a question from her captor.
“I…well, for starters can we get out of this warehouse? If I’m staying with you I need livable conditions, especially if my sister is involved. I’ll hunt with you. But you have to allow me some freedom. Being tied up is kinky and all, but save that for your satisfaction.” she said and the statement floored him. How was this girl who was so scared and trembling just minutes before able to formulate such cheeky conversation? Chan chuckled, amusement evident on his face as he tried to conjure a rebuttal.
“Demanding aren’t we? Say please.” he said, sitting on the edge of the bed next to her.
“You’ve already made your intentions perfectly clear…Uh, Chan, was it?” she said, her cheeks growing crimson at his close proximity.
“That I have.” he said, pulling her against him and allowing her to rest on his chest. She let out a squeak of surprise as he did so fluidly. “I’m glad you haven’t forgotten.”
“Just so you know, it doesn’t work in this form. The anatomy doesn’t connect. So don’t try anything fishy.” she stated and Chan chuckled at wherever her mind was going.
“I promise I won’t do anything weird…yet.” he teased her, enjoying the change in mood from the dramatic scene in the main storage area.
Moments later, Allura grasped at his shirt, balling the fabric in her fists as her tail began to recede and her legs sprouted in its place. Chan could tell it was painful for her, the change. She bit back a scream as the flesh stripped off her tail, human skin regrew over the raw muscles in her legs. He could hear the grinding and snapping of bones in the lower half of her body and he braced her as she completed the process. Allura was sweating and breathless by the time it was over as she fell limp against him, having completely exhausted her energy.
“It’s painful for you, isn’t it?” he asked as she tried to recover from her body literally ripping itself apart, traces of blood still patching her newly grown legs. She nodded, unable to speak. “Lets get you out of these wet clothes.” he said, helping her sit up and peeling the damp shirt off of her body. His heart jolted seeing her exposed skin, a pair of plump breasts greeting him as he did so. He bit his lip, trying not to think impure thoughts in this situation, but with his siren nearly completely naked in front of him, it was easier said than done. He would control himself for now, but he couldn’t promise that for the entirety of the time she would remain in his care.
Chan grabbed the blanket and wrapped the two of them in it together, laying back and allowing her to rest with him. She looked utterly depleted and the thing she needed the most right now was rest. He would see to it that she got just that. He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead and rubbed soothing circles on her back to get her to relax.
“I promise…I’ll grant you just as much pleasure to make up for all the pain.” he stated, with full intentions to follow through. “From here on out, you’re mine.”
