Work Text:

Tom walks the cold streets of London alone. He's been laid off by Harry, and he's back at square one. He doesn't really know what to do with himself.

He stands outside a Parish. The same one he sat near for months on end where he had nowhere else to go. He looks up at the tall building and he feels a sick in his stomach. He looks inside, he can't get Joyce's body away from him.

He opens the small gate to the graveyard, he cluches his hands against his chest as he stares at the grave in front of him. His mother's grave. She'd be so ashamed if she knew who he was. Who he is now.

Tom kisses his hand and places it on top of the stone, craving the touch his mother could never give him.
He stumbles out of the graveyard, he sees Adam staring back at him.

"Adam?"

"I thought you'd come here."

Tom walks up to the other, placing a hand on him to make sure he wasn't dead. Adam looks down at his hand with confusion.

"Why did you follow me?" Tom asks, retracting his hand from Adam's shoulder.

"The last time you were accused of something, you drowned yourself." Tom tenses up at that. Adam raises a hand to apologise.

Adam looks over Tom, despite his suit, he looks just as tired as he was when he was in rags. "You look like hell."

"Feel it too." Tom begins to walk off, his hands in his pockets as he clings onto some suave. Adam grabs his arm to stop him. "What do you want, Adam?"

"Where could you be going?" Adam says sternly. "You don't have a house, a family and your friends think you're a loony."

Tom sighs. He can't really deny Adam's words. He lets Adam take him back. Finally, Tom feels at home.
