Arrow and his shadow

Summary:

Oliver Queen comes back and finds out that he has a ten-year-old son.

Chapter Text

Oliver couldn't believe what he was seeing. He hadn't been home that long when a blond-haired blue-eyed boy showed up at Queen Manor looking for him and his family.

"I'm sorry to bother all of you." The boy said bowing. "I'm Luca Blake. I have an IQ of 300. I found this..." he showed them a diary. "This is my mother's if you turn to the marked page, you'll find an entry that will point to the only relationship that my mother had during the correct time of my conception. My mother has a habit of writing about all of her relationships....Please, read. I must warn you my mother is very graphic though."

Oliver slammed the book shut after only a few paragraphs having snatched it from his mother who was reading it with his sister next to him.

"Okay, your mother is Cynthia Blake." he said. "Yeah, I remember her. But that was eleven years ago. I was seventeen..."

"And I'm ten." Luca answered. "Now, I want you all to understand that I'm not here for anything. I don't want anything from the Queen family. Nothing at all. No money, nothing. As you know the Blake family is well enough off. I'm just looking for confirmation on who my real father is. I'll provide you with a DNA sample and you're free to run it at your dicrestion."

Oliver ran his fingers through his hair and pulled. He couldn't believe this. Okay, he could. He'd been a playboy and a whore before leaving for the island. He'd started around the age of seventeen actually Cynthia had been his first. He'd used protection though. The entire time they were together. He quickly read through the rest of the entry.

"I am not like my mother. As I said before, I want nothing from you."

So Luca knew what type of woman his mother was. He'd finished reading and now knew that she'd sabotaged his protection hoping to have his child.

"Why didn't she come forward with you earlier that seems to be what her plan was." Oliver said trying to hold his temper in check.

"I don't know maybe she thought I'd be a more useful pawn at an older age or something." Luca answered. "She has no idea I'm here, though."

His mind was processing when he heard his mother speak next.

"An IQ of 300? Where do you go to school, dear?" Moria asked.

"Dunstan and Cynthia Academy of the Gifted. DC Academy. The home branch, right here in Starling City. My mother and stepfather opened it. It's a school for people like me." Luca answered.

"Oh, yes the school is ten years old. They'll be celebrating their Decennial Anniversary soon." Moria spoke. "Which program do you think the Queens should donate to this year?"

"I'm biased towards the sciences." Luca informed. "By the end of next week, I'll have graduated with a doctorate in Theoretical Physics and Applied Physics as well as one in Engineering."

Oliver rubbed his head as his kid and his mother kept talking. His kid's biggest dream was to work at Queen Consolidated Applied Sciences because he was convinced that they wouldn't want to claim him. He finally caught up.

"You are covered in bruises, we're going to the hospital to check you for signs of abuse....." He said standing up. He picked up Luca and was shocked when the boy clung to him. "Mom, Thea, are you coming with?"

Both women quickly followed.

Oliver was seething his son was abused. The only good thing was the DNA test that he'd demanded they run had come back positive. Cynthia had come bursting in acting all concerned with her husband. Oliver picked his kid up and held him. He declared that he was taking Luca home with him. Though Luca didn't seem to want to go home he said it was too big and reminded him of school and he hated his school.

He ended up taking him to the club that he was hoping to open. He didn't know what possessed him to do it but he took him down to the Arrow Cave. That's what Diggle had called it. He could feel Diggle's judging gaze as he did so.

"I knew it." Luca said as he looked around. "I knew you were the Vigilante. I don't like the name The Hood though."

"Luca, this is John Diggle he works with me and The Hood." Oliver said wrangling his kid and putting him in front of Diggle. "Dig, this is my son. Luca Queen. I've just found out and taken custody of him. He's a super prodigy."

"Nice to meet you." Luca said with a bow. "You know I could probably upgrade your weapon and armor setup." Luca said looking around at everything.

He began a long spiel about what he could do to update the place including security. He went on and on and was glad that they didn't stop him in fact, his dad, omg he'd just thought that, sat down in a chair and listened to him after telling Diggle something.

By the time, he was wrapping up Diggle was back with Big Belly Burger.

"I've never had fast food before." Luca said awed.

He enjoyed his dinner and wondered what his grandma, omg he'd just thought as well, would say to him eating Big Belly Burgers for dinner. It was amazing and he had to be reminded to slow down several times. He loved the shake too. He also loved how amused his father was.

Oliver smiled softly as he watched his kid go to town on Belly Burger and his shake. He couldn't believe that his son had never had fast food before. He was already planning the meals that they were going to have from now on in his mind. Though maybe just lunches. He should probably try to do family dinners sometime. He picked up his phone and texted his mother.

Can we do family dinners on Sundays? I've got a kid now and I feel that it's important.

It didn't take long to get a response.

Of course, I'll talk to your sister about it.

Seconds later he got a text from his sister.

Ollie, do I have a niece or nephew? I couldn't tell.

Actually, now that he thought about it he didn't know because he couldn't tell.

"Luca, I hate to do this but what gender do you identify with?"

"Undecided." Luca answered him.

Luca says undecided about what gender Luca is.

Can you ask if he wears girls' clothes or just boy's clothes?

"Thea wants to know if you wear boy's clothes exclusively or ...."

"I've never been allowed to wear girl's clothes because the one time I wore my sister's Easter Dress my stepfather broke my arm."

Buy him a damn dress, Thea! NOW! Also toys. I don't care what kind....oh, hang on.

Queen Family chat Created.

Oliver has invited Thea, Moira, and Walter.

Oliver: Luca needs technology, Walter.

Walter: On it, already. He'll have a phone and everything he needs by morning.

Oliver: Toys and Clothes, Thea.

Thea: My cards will be maxed in no time.

Oliver: Take it easy, Thea. Mom, Luca says that he only wants a mattress on the floor with soft sheets, no blankets, and soft pillows. He hates the house because it reminds him of his school and he hates his school. He wants to stay here at the club. He's claimed the downstairs storage area.

Moira: I am suing those people! Walter, get our lawyers!

Walter: I'm sending emails now.

Moira: Very well, we'll have the basement converted into Luca's bedroom.

Crap! Why had he said that? Now, what was he going to do about his Arrow Cave?!

Chapter Text

It took almost no time for them to hide the Arrow Cave and begin a complete overhaul construction of the building. Including a hidden secret room for the cave. Luca designed the whole thing.

"What happened to this place?"

Luca spun from where he was admiring his new dress, leggings, and shoes. He blinked at her.

"Whoa, who are you?" the woman asked him.

"Luca Queen." he answered. "Age: 10. IQ: 300."

"Felicity Smoak." the woman stated. "Age: 21. IQ: 170."

"Oh, you're like me." He ran to her side and grabbed her hand. "Does my daddy know you? Why else would you be here?"

"Luca, don't play with strangers!" Oliver snapped walking over holding a pizza box in his hand. "I don't care if they are geniuses like you and you want to pick their brains or do experiments with them."

"But, daddy...."

"No, Luca, you can't play or talk to strangers!" he said sternly. "Didn't your other parents teach you this lesson?!"

Luca didn't mind admitting that he was pouting a bit.

"Now, Luca!"

Luca let go and ran to his father seeking comfort and trying to apologize in his own way. He hugged him around the waist and was hugged back. He nodded that he understood.

"Good, now as it turns out, Felicity is a friend of mine and you can play with her but my point stands." Oliver told him with a sigh.

Luca was happily babbling away to Felicity while the two ate pizza. Oliver sighed and watched them do so. He didn't understand a word out of his kid's mouth but Felicity was engaging. Yay, he'd found someone who could engage with his kid on an intellectual level. Good for him but he was worried about his kid because he'd just had to teach him a very simple lesson. What the hell was with his other parents? Why hadn't he known that simple lesson? What did they teach him at that smart kids' school of his? He had so many questions.

He smiled gently when Luca came to sit in his lap. He wrapped his arms around him as the child kept chattering away to Felicity who kept chattering back.

He heard a noise and turned instantly. Diggle came down the stairs with Big Belly Burger. He rolled his eyes. His kid did love Big Belly Burger. He loved it a lot. He always seemed to have room for more food. He was a growing child, he reasoned to himself.

"Uncle Dig!" Luca cheered smashing into him.

They both saw Diggle's reaction to this as he caught Luca and picked him up.

"Hey, kiddo." he said. "You are looking very beautiful, tonight."

"Thank you. Aunt Thea bought it for me. You should see what my Nana bought me."

"Nana?" Felicity asked.

"It's what he's taken to calling my mother." Oliver explained. "She loves it."

Luca wasn't so sure about crimefighting without the Cave but he'd discovered that their club had three floors two underground and they were using that as a makeshift cave for now until construction was done. He sat on a chair bouncing up and down as he explained their new coms to them and how they worked off of vibration in the jaws and was almost impossible to see in the ear.

"We'll each have one." He said passing them out. He put his in his ear. "Each of us." he was looking at his daddy as he said that. He watched his daddy sigh in defeat and then nod. "Okay, so who are we up against this time?"

"The Dodger." Felicity answered and gave him the rundown of who they were after.

They then began the mission. While Diggle and Oliver were out he bounced around and finally decided to take some of his energy out on the training equipment. He, of course, participated with the mission but he was trying to train. He wanted to big and strong like his daddy.

Oliver sighed as he explained to the police, hospital, his family, and Luca's other parents that Luca had broken his wrist because he'd been trying to train in self-defense.

"My father made sure that my sister and I knew basic self-defense." Oliver explained. "I was going to start teaching Luca. He saw me practicing and sadly decided to try himself when I wasn't around and Felicity was babysitting."

"I'm so sorry!" Felicity was crying almost hysterically. She hugged Luca to her. "I'm so sorry!"

"Why did you have one of our company's IT department babysitting my grandson?" Moira asked.

"Because he needs mental stimulation that I can't give her and she can." Oliver sighed. "Both are geniuses. I thought he could use some pizza and tech talk time." He ran fingers through his hair with a frustrated sigh. "Felicity, please, you did nothing wrong...."

"I shouldn't have let him train!" she cried. "I should have asked if you'd been giving him lessons. I should have just offered to do a science experiment with him!"

"Felicity, please!" Oliver sighed he was now rubbing his temples.

"I want Big Belly Burger." Luca said looking up at his daddy and giving him full contact with his big blue eyes.

"No. Dig, I swear to god you give someone else that bag before you enter this room!" Oliver yelled pointing at the door. "He doesn't get treats for breaking his wrist doing something I told him not to do!"

Seconds later Diggle opened the door and was empty-handed which made Luca pout.

This set off Luca's other parents yelling about him giving Luca junk and fast food.

Luca was upset he was in trouble, which he was used to, but he hadn't meant to actually get his daddy mad at him he'd just wanted to train like his daddy did. So he could one day help his daddy. His punishment was that he had to stay at the mansion for a month he already didn't like it and wanted to protest but he'd been bad and it was going to take 6 to 8 weeks to heal so he was going to be stuck here for four of that apparently. He didn't like that. Not at all.

"There you are." his aunt Thea picked him up and hugged him.

All three of his parents were there as well as his Nana, his Poppop, his aunt, Diggle, and Felicity.

"I love you so much!" Thea declared. "I've got your room set up just the way you like it. Oh, but I added some pictures! Would you take some family pictures with us while you're here? I have the cutest little suit and/or dress for you to wear. You can look at them and decide which one you want to wear. Oh, and I picked you up some new toys to play with. By toys I mean I got you a lot of sciencey tech stuff from our Science division. You're going to love it. I basically made your room into half room/half lab."

Thea carried him off toward his room.

"I wanted to get you a full bed set but Mom and Walter said you love your mattress on the floor set up. Walter says that genius types like you almost always have their own severe OCD going on with what they like and stuff." Thea continued to babble as everyone followed her. "Do you like chicken? We're supposed to have chicken for dinner tonight..."

"I like chicken if there's peas and mashed potatoes." Luca answered.

"Of course, there is. Do you like brown or white gravy best and do you like your chicken as shredded on your plate or a chicken?"

"Oh, thank you for asking, Aunt Thea. I like shredded chicken. Only white chicken with brown gravy on both the chicken and potatoes. The chicken has to be cooked to the exact proper temperature and the food can't touch. Everyone involved has to wear gloves while preparing the meal." Luca answered.

Moira was conveying all of this via text to the chef.

Chapter Text

1 Week Later

Luca was pleased that he still got to be on the team. His dad had promised. Right now he was wearing a little suit and his blond hair was braided down just below his shoulders. They were doing a family picture. He was sitting in his Nana's lap as she sat in a chair. His Poppop was standing behind them, his daddy was on the right, and his aunt was on the left. They were all smiling and looking happy. This was their second picture. They'd taken one with him in a dress already.

"I think this one should be the Christmas Card." he declared when he saw it.

"Yes, I do agree, my love." Moira kissed his head. "Now, who wants to go to Queen Consolidated and play in the labs?"

"OH, I DO!" Luca cheered. "I DO! ME! ME!"

He happily let her pick him up. Was he small for a ten-year-old? Was that why everyone was able to carry him around?

"Oh, but we can't." Luca frowned. "I have graduation......" he checked his watch. "In six hours and fifty-two minutes."

"Oh, yes that's today, isn't it?" Moira asked. "I'm so proud of you! Three doctorates all at once! My little doctor!"

Luca had forgotten to mention that he was making a valedictorian speech. After making and going through the graduation ceremony, the press outside surrounded the Queen family. They asked all sorts of questions. Luca did his best to answer them eventually he got fed up with them.

"What are you going to do next, Mr. Queen?"

"Don't you think that is rude to assume that I identify as a male without asking?" Luca demanded. "I am currently undecided what gender I am so right now the pronoun I use is They/Them. As for what I'm going to do next, I'm getting Big Belly Burger, then going to Queen Consolidated to get a full tour. I'm planning to work in the Applied Science Division while taking online courses offered by DC Academy to get doctorates in Biology, Chemistry, and Applied mathematics. Now, please, excuse us."

He looked at his dad with big pleading blue eyes. He knew he'd won when his daddy let out a suffering sigh and led him off by his hand.

He was so happy to finally have a Big Belly Burger he could live on this stuff. He heard his Nana, Poppop, and Aunt exclaiming how good the burgers were. He agreed. He was wondering what he was going to do next in his life he hadn't lied when he'd told them what he'd wanted to do with his life but he was thinking short term. He had no idea what his long-term goals were. He really should try and figure that out.

He was so lost in thought that he didn't notice that his family noticed.

"What is wrong, dear?" his Nana asked him.

He blinked at them.

"I was just trying to think of my long-term goals." Luca said. "What I'm planning to do in the future."

"You'll do whatever you want until you're eighteen and take over the company." Moira stated. "Maybe earlier if Oliver wants to skip his turn, how's fifteen sound?"

"Really? I can run the company?" Just like that, he was happy. "I'll be the youngest CEO of a Fortune 500 company ever! I have so many ideas already!"

Oliver smiled softly as he watched his child get excited at the prospect of doing something that he had never wanted in his life. Well, the company would be in great hands when Luca took over. He could see that Walter was smiling and was wondering what he was thinking. He better not be thinking of handing the company over early. His child was only ten. No one would take a ten-year-old CEO seriously. He was positive that his son could do it, but he was worried.

He had never imagined himself as a father before, but here his son was, and he couldn't love him more. He should probably check if he had any other children out there. He was sure that Luca would love a sibling. But could he handle two children or more? Who knew how many kids he had out there? He'd slept around a lot. He needed to talk to his mother and Walter about this. His mother would apparently be thrilled. Who knew that she wanted to be a grandmother so badly?

Luca was babbling again, so he tried to pay attention it went over his head. Still, he listened to his child ramble on and on about whatever popped into his mind.

"Well, yes, I suppose that is a valid thought." Moira hummed as she sipped her tea later that night.

Oliver had just discussed with her and Walter his thoughts on if he had more kids.

"You do remember Samantha Clayton, don't you?" she asked.

"Of course, I do but she said she lost the child." Oliver frowned.

"She said that because I told her to. I wrote her check for $1 million but she never cashed the check." Moira continued. "I believe she named the boy William and lives in Central City. William is nine."

Oliver rubbed his head. He had another son. He had another son. Samantha was never going to allow him to be part of his son's life. He'd reach out but he knew what would happen. They came up with a plan to find out if he had any other children out there.

When the talk was over he went to his son's room to find him fast asleep on the matress clinging to a stuffed animal. He tucked the sheet over him again and then kissed his head.
