Take a Chance on Me

Summary:

Peter hesitantly strolled to the easy chair opposite Stiles and took a seat. “I see you’re still a little mad.”

“You think?”

Leaning forward he clasped his hands together, fingers intertwining with one another. “To be fair, you know I am an asshole. You should have expected such things were not going to be ideal.”

“Oh, so it’s my fault that we slept together and you booked it out after like a bat out of hell?”

“Well…”

Notes:

Hello darlings. Welcome to my latest.

Not a whole lot of originality with this one - I would say it's mostly a mash up of a lot of my previous fics But hey if it ain't broke, don't fix, right? LOL

So if you want to read another fic with these two idiots slowly falling for each other and bantering along the way, then this is for you.

I saw Mamma Mia in January and the songs were in my head for weeks so the title comes from a song from the musical (or ABBA)- it seemed rather fitting.

Enjoy :)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Peter glanced down at himself with a cursory check. Eyes darting along his dark gray trousers accompanied with his shiny black loafers. Crimson red button up silky shirt. Hair slicked back with a follicle not out a place.

Teeth whitened coinciding with his cheeky grin.

And alpha charm infused with his charisma. No one is immune from his appeal.

Yes, he got this.

Smiling broadly, his palms pressed down the remaining few wrinkles on his shirt. Inhaling, he then reached over and rapped on the familiar wooden door of apartment number 302D. It didn’t take long for the door to open revealingly the omega standing ro the side, big doe orbs eyeballing the surprise visitor before him.

“Hale?” He questioned with an irritated huff. “What the hell are you doing here?”

Maybe, he doesn’t have this after all.

“Is that anyway to greet me Bambi?” He grinned even more trying to infuse more charm – in an attempt to penetrate the steely gaze upon him.

The eyes narrowed on the exhale. “I’m still very displeased with you. So don’t Bambi me right now asshole.” The boy quickly went to shut the door (okay, it was probably going to be more of a slam but whatever) but Peter had faster reflexes and placed his right shoe between the door and the jamb. “Move your foot.”

“Not until you let me in so we can talk for a moment.” He didn’t really want to beg because truthfully, it was not his strong suit but if he needed to, he could lay on a little pleading.

Breathing out through his noise, Stiles face contorted indicating he was still not a happy camper. “Peter, we’re friends and will always be friends but I am so not in the mood for your antics and bullshit right now.”

That was fair.

“But I need a favor and prefer not to grovel out in the hallway.” Or not at all really but he didn’t have much of a choice. As the boy mentioned, they are friends, The omega can be a pain in the ass, bratty, and stubborn but he still wanted him in his life in some capacity. They had way too much history to not be in one another’s life.

“A favor? You seriously came here asking me for a favor right now? Me of all people?”

Well. Probably not the best timing on Peter’s part. He supposes it’s not a good look being a jerk to someone and then asking that someone for something. But, in his defense, being a jerk is kind of his default mode. And Stiles of all people should know that. Really, he should probably get a pass.

However being an alpha, meant Peter was stronger and because of his personality, he was a determined asshole so he used his strength to push the door open wider so he could step inside. Stiles grumbled and cussed at him under his breath, yet admitted defeat when he stomped over to the suede couch and plopped down with a pout. Reaching over for glass that was half filled with soda, he glared at Peter. “I am not going to be hospitable to you right now. And I’m in the middle of Dance Moms, make it quick Hale.”

“Well…” He really wants to say yes but had a feeling that answer wouldn’t go well and then the boy would certainly not agree to his ask. His pause caused the omega’s eye brows to rise to his hairline like he was ready to fight Peter on this. “Perhaps we’re both equally to blame.” He could sense the boy wanted to argue but Peter kept going. “Let’s be real Stiles, you enjoyed my big dick. You even said so yourself or at least until I rendered you speechless.”

Oh yes, that was a wonderful sight, the omega beneath him writhing and moaning like a porn star. And then his lips just parting with an O shape with no words escaping him. It was a real wet dream. He’s not sure why he hadn’t found a way to take the boy bed prior to this. Other than he is an idiot. And okay, maybe a little hesitant crossing the friendship line.

Placing his glass back down on the coaster that was on the coffee table, Stiles leaned back on the couch and crossed his arms over his small frame. “Well, if we are being real, I wouldn’t have enjoyed your big dick as much if I realized you were going to be such a big dick afterwards.”

Stiles knows him well enough. He really should expect some of his behaviors and not be surprised “Semantics Bambi.” Peter scanned the surrounding area, “is your father here?” He should have asked that earlier. He really didn’t want to be talking about big dicks even if it was his they were speaking of with the boy’s father around. That would be a little awkward.

Noah is a nice guy and regards Peter fairly well but would probably have less respect for him now knowing he dicked down his omega son. And then pissed him off afterwards.

“If he was here, I would have summoned him to shoot you in your big dick.”

“Well, that sounds rather painful and maybe a little overboard. Listen,” he took a breath. Peter can be an asshole but he doesn’t want to lose his friendship with Stiles. They have known each other far too long. Hell, he even used to babysit the kid a few times. But Stiles doesn’t like to be reminded of that since he says it weirds him out to think about it. So he can be a bigger man even though it is difficult to do so.“I admit I could have handled things better during our post coital bliss. I usually don’t do the whole cuddling thing and what not. It doesn’t come naturally to me.”

The omega looked on, “is that your apology? Because if so, it kind of sucks dude. I mean get you Peter. I do know how you are. I guess I was being naive. I didn’t expect you to spend the night or anything because I understand how you roll. But like I guess I thought you would stay longer than ten minutes.”

“It was more like fifteen.” The glare remained steady on him so yeah, that was probably not the right come back. “Fine, I may have not reacted the best way possible.” But in his defense, he doesn’t usually stick around when he sleeps with others. And truthfully, he really didn’t know how to react with Stiles. They are friends and it was a little awkward. He really didn’t know what the right protocol was when you sleep with a friend so he made haste. Seemed like a good idea at the time.

“You think? You know, just forget it. What’s the stupid favor? And I still think you are crazy asking me but whatever. Just want to move on and we won’t talk about the sex thing again. We’ll just pretend it didn’t happen and that you were a big alpha jerk about it afterwards.”

He shouldn’t be surprised but part of him wouldn’t mind talking about the sex thing at some point. It was fun and enlightening. Peter would not say no to revisiting that aspect of their relationship again. But if Stiles wants to stay platonic, then he will abide by his wishes. He is much too important to have in his life so he’ll play by his rules.

And in regards to the favor, he couldn’t think of anyone else but Stiles to ask. He’s one of the few people who really get him and is snarky right back at him. “Well, you know Laura is getting married to Jordan soon. And Talia has completely gone off the rails. I mean the roller coaster she is on has completely gone off track. She’s a terror and maniac right now in planning the event and wants everything down pat. Not a thing out of place.”

“Yeah, my dad says Jordan has come to him a few times about her sticking her hand in every pot. But they agreed to have their wedding in her backyard. Liked the idea of the view backing up to the preserve. Got no one to blame but themselves.” He can’t disagree with that. Basically, they got to sleep in the bed that they made. “And what does this have to do with me?”

How can he put this delicately? He can’t really. He’ll just pull off the Band-Aid. He’s good at that sort of thing so with a quick inhale, Peter just went for it. “Talia has gotten it in her head that her handsome alpha brother cannot go stag to the nuptials. So,” he gestured his hand towards Stiles, “I am asking if you would be my plus one? It’s free food, dancing, and cake. You do love cake.”

Stiles uncrossed his arms, with hands flailing in the air. “You got to be fucking kidding me? And I am already invited Sherlock. And yeah, totally going to try to score more than one piece of cake.”

That was valid. Of course, Stiles was already invited but that shouldn’t matter. ‘I’m not kidding about you being my plus one. We can still go together and I can pick you up.”

“ I’m not going to be your plus one.”

“Can you at least think about it?”

“No.” The reply was quick and to the point.

“Great. Why don’t you sleep on it and I’ll text you later.’ Peter insisted but in a nice laid back hopeful tone. The boy was being more stubborn than he thought he might be.

“It’s still going to be no. Besides, maybe I have a plus one. Did your stupid alpha brain think of that?”

No, he didn’t. He’s fairly sure that Stiles doesn’t but it is possible he supposes. The boy has never said anything about seeing anyone or even hinted that there is someone in his radar even. Interesting tidbit if there is truth to it. Unclasping his fingers, Peter sat back in the chair, apprising the omega. “Do you? Is it someone I know? You never mentioned anything before.”

“You do realize I don’t tell you everything?” He gathered that but this still seemed somewhat important – something he would share with Peter. The omega is not a total open book with Peter but he does tell him most things. “And no, you don’t know him.”

Fuck, this was not at all how he thought things would go – not at all how he assumed this plan would work out. It was irritating to say the least that Stiles is both not cooperating and threw this monkey wrench in there.

Yet he was still not truly convinced Stiles was bringing someone. He could be toying with Peter because he’s not happy with him at the moment. The boy probably wants to see Peter suffer a little and not give him any satisfaction. He could understand why he would play that hand and truthfully, he has mad respect for the boy. Unfortunately, it’s at his own expense. However, he could work with this if needed. He would just have to work harder to gain the means to his end. He could do that. Plus, there was the potential of fun to be had. He always enjoys pushing the omega’s buttons.

And never let it be said that Peter Hale doesn’t get what he desires.

Stretching his legs out, Peter decided to be a sufferable little shit right now if Stiles was going to be bratty. “Fine. I’ll be sure send you a text later and you can reply that you changed your mind at that time.”

With that he stood up as Stiles flipped him the bird.

He could work with that too.

“I’m not sure why you thought it was a good idea to go over there. What did you think would happen?” Jackson who is definitely not a very supportive friend at the moment hovered above him as he paced back and forth – not able to stand still for some aggravating reason.

Peter had arrived back to his shared apartment with the annoying alpha and immediately plopped down on his leather sofa with a sigh. It’s beyond him why he believed Jackson would actually take his side in this. “I thought it was obvious.” He gazed up to the younger alpha. “He was going to be blown away by my alpha charm and all be unforgiven. And possibly even ask to see my dick again.” The last part was probably a long shot but he had a sliver of hope that Stiles may want to get down and dirty again. He was young and probably horny a lot. Plus, omega’s love alpha cock.

“You’re an idiot for two reasons. One,” he held his index finger for emphasis, “for sleeping with one of your good friends in the first place. And two,” he held up the accompanying middle finger. “For fucking it up afterwards by running and then going back over there which I assume was with a half ass apology.”

That was rather rude and hurtful. It was more than half assed he thinks. Well, Stiles may agree more with Jackson than Peter. It wasn’t the worst but he could have done better he supposes.

Jackson ceased his pacing as Peter focused on him. “You know it’s not my fault. He was the one who impaled himself on my dick. I am rather innocent in all this.” They were hanging out at Stiles place, sitting on the couch together watching some rom-com. They ate some takeout. Nothing they haven’t done together numerous times in the past. But their knees knocked and the boy smelled so sweet. Things just happened and escalated rather quickly. “One moment we were sitting next to each other and the next I had a lapful of Stiles.”

The younger alpha rolled his eyes and leaned over to flick on his right bicep. “Yep, idiot and there is no way you are innocent in all this.”

“Ow, you heathen. And okay, I admit it takes two to tango. Now he just wants to pretend nothing happened and just move on. So, to keep the peace and our friendship, I’ll do that.”

Shaking his head, Jackson exhaled. “I have a feeling that might not go as well as you both think it will. I would like to believe it’s not my problem but I’m sure you’ll drag me into your mess.”

“That’s what friends are for.” Peter smirked. Aw, he loves Jackson. And he loves to torture him.

“Just try not to do or say anything more stupid. And please tell me you’re not going to try to get in his pants again. “

Peter can make no promises on such things.

Stiles maybe stubborn but Peter can be determined.

He’s fairly confident he can convince Stiles to be his plus one and maybe even persuade him to impale himself once more on his big alpha dick.

Chapter 2

Notes:

Thanks for all the love.

Chapter Text

Stiles stared at his laptop, trying to concentrate on his school work. It was challenging. He didn’t want to be writing a paper on economics right now. He didn’t mind the subject but he just didn’t want to do it. He yearned to plop back on the cushiony sofa and watch something benign on TV.

Plus, his mind kept drifting to one infuriating Peter Hale. The man was a jerk. No surprise really. Stiles knew that about him and sometimes enjoyed that part of him. He can admit he likes to sit back and watch the alpha being snarky to someone or tell someone off. The trait can have an appeal – a kind of sexy appeal at that.

However, he does not appreciate being on the receiving end of such behavior. Well, the jerkiness end of it anyway. He appreciates the snarky part.

He realizes it’s nearly impossible to be immune when he has known the man as long as he has. With the amount of time, he hangs out with him, it only makes sense that he has encountered the jerkiness of the alpha several times throughout his life.

Usually though, the action is not all together horrible when Stiles has been on the receiving end and he can just brush it off most of the occasions – recognizing that it’s a Peter trait and it’s not personal. But this time… ugh, the man really riled him up.

Was he stupid for sleeping with Peter who is one of his best friends and confidants? Probably but Stiles has eyes. The alpha has always been smoking hot once Stiles became of an age and realized what smoking hot was. They get along famously with their sarcasm and banter. The man doesn’t tire of Stiles rants or commentary through movies.

They are basically two peas in a pod so really it shouldn’t come up as much of a surprise that they had sex together. In all honestly, he is sort of amazed it hadn’t happened prior to this time other than the alpha would have assumed Stiles was too young and would feel like he was taking advantage of the omega. Or maybe he didn’t want to cross the friendship line.

But it did happen.

And the sex was really good. Really really good.

And he can admit that the alpha does have a huge dick and it filled him up nice and good – hit all the good spots. Made him orgasm at least three times.

He won’t try to gauge who initiated what first, other than they had really good sex and Stiles truthfully would be down for more sexy times. But, he is not going to admit that to the alpha right now. Nope, he made such a dick mode and no way hell does he get rewarded for it with another blow job or sex with Stiles.

As he told the older man, he’s not naïve. He expected that he wouldn’t want to spend the night. It’s just that since they do have history and are not strangers, Stiles expected he would have at least stuck around for a while. They could have talked or grabbed some water – anything but him racing out of the apartment like the place was on fire.

It was going to take a bit to relieve the sting but he would. He still adores Peter. Has known him far too long to cease their friendship so he’ll just swallow his bitterness and forget the sex fueled evening. He can do it. It may take longer than he wants but he will put it behind him.

“Stiles,” his father called out as he walked in from the front door. He jolted his head upright to see his dad dangling a colorful box from his right hand. “This was outside. It has your name on it and says it’s from P.”

Stiles reached over and grabbed the box and noted it was filled with chocolate candies. He causally started unwrapping the cellophane around it. “Is there a reason Peter is sending you a box of chocolates?”

“I don’t know.” He played dumb while he lifted the cover and grabbed a chocolate square. “Maybe he wanted to.”

His dad breathed his nose and took a seat next to Stiles on the couch. “I wasn’t born yesterday and I am a damn good cop. Do I need to polish my gun?”

So tempting. So very tempting. “No pops. Thanks. You know how we get sometimes. It’s just a minor disagreement. It will be fine.” It will be fine. He’ll make Peter grovel some more and maybe try to get some more chocolate from him.

“Yeah I know. I also realize when you two bicker, it doesn’t last too long.” His old man insisted as he reached over to help himself to a piece of chocolate. “Remember when you were seven and you and Derek were fighting over a broken toy or something? And you thought Peter took Derek’s side and you cried saying you were never going to speak to Peter again?”

Stiles vaguely recollects the so called broken toy incident. He and Derek were basically playing tug of war with some action figure and the figure legs broke off. Very traumatic at the time. “A little. So like I ddin’t talk to him for a day or something.”

“I think you lasted twenty minutes.”

“I was seven dad.”

The man snorted as he looked over to Stiles. “I’m just saying you two always find a way to get along. So whatever this is, I’m sure it won’t last long. Yet, he is sending you candy so could be more than a minor conflict. Maybe I should get my gun ready.”

Stiles leaned back and elbowed his dad in his side. “It won’t be necessary. You are right. The two of us don’t like staying angry at one another. It will be fine dad. Thanks for the support.” He will let the sting simmer for a bit but he won’t linger on it for too long. Life is much too short and it’s way more fun when the alpha is not in the doghouse.

“If you’re sure. I don’t mind getting my hands dirty especially if some alpha does my son wrong.” The sheriff insisted as he stood up with a muffled groan. Fuck, he loves his dad so much – always looking out for him through thick and thin. “Shit, my bones are getting too old.”

“It’s because you work too hard.” Stiles glanced back to his laptop and moved the cursor to bring it back to life. “Which means you are still taking off work to go to Jordan’s and Laura’s wedding right?” His dad has reduced his hours and has been delegating more and more of his responsibilities at work but he still works way too hard. The man could really use an extended vacation or an early retirement at that.

He looked back at Stiles with furrowed brows. “Yes yes,” he seemingly dismissed Stiles concern with a wave. “Jordan popped his head into my office today to bring me up on the latest and ensuring I was still attending. I’m all good. Actually, I’ll be bringing someone along with me.”

“Holy shit dad. You are bringing a date? You going to get laid?” That was even better than a vacation. His dad could totally get dicked down. The beta deserved it – the man needs it like air right now. He’s probably in such a dry spell. Which ew but valid.

“Geez kid,” his dad shook his head as he scrubbed his palm down his face. “More like friends. Or even acquaintances so sorry to disappoint, no getting any for your old man.”

Stiles cocked his head upward quizzically. “Really. That is kind of disappointing but it could totally happen. Maybe, well, do I know this person?” It could totally make a difference with his dad chances depending on who he was going with.

His dad hummed under his breath, taking a hesitant pause. “You’re going to make a much bigger deal out of it than it is but I can’t exactly keep it from you either because you will find out either through sheer will or the day of.” Stiles was damn curious now. “So it’s Chris Argent. We were talking the other day and then the next thing I know I was asking if he wanted to tag along.”

“Oh shit dad. That’s awesome.” He reached up to give his pops a high five, “He’s a total DILF. Way to go!” Chris Argent is a silver fox in Stiles book. The man has a salt and pepper beard, grayish hair, and a killer jawbone. Not to mention, muscles that go on forever. He works with the department in like some kind of arms and security capacity. Stiles doesn’t know all the details, other than he is an alpha and his dad would be in good hands. Very good hands and the man would for sure have a monster cock. “You’re so getting laid pops.”

Wincing, his father took a step back without obliging Stiles high five gesture. “Um, that might be a little more than I need to know regarding what you like. And like I said we’re going just as friends so no getting laid.”

Stiles couldn’t help but wink, “okay dad. Got it, just friends.” He didn’t believe it for a minute.

His dad was so going to get dicked down by an alpha.

Later that evening, Stiles decided to reach out to Peter. He wanted to say it was against his better judgment but he is like a damn moth to a flame when it comes to Peter Hale. He can’t stay away from him and fuck; he can’t stay angry at him either but he certainly can make him stew and suffer for a bit though.

After all, even on their good days, he loves to give the alpha a hard time.

So texting it was since the man was a drug Stiles couldn’t quit. And besides he is one of the few who engages with Stiles no matter when he reaches out.

Plopping his head back on his bed, with his feet outstretched, he took a deep breath and found Peter’s contact info, He began to text him and hoped he would not regret that choice.

[Bambi] Got your chocolate

And just as he expected, the bubbles started showing almost immediately as the other man responded.

[Hale of an Alpha] Wonderful. Did you enjoy them?

[Bambi] Ate half of the box so yeah, I guess I did. Don’t think a box of chocolate will make up for things

[Hale of an Alpha] Of course not Bambi. Would another box suffice to get back into my good graces?

Fucking typical thinking Stiles would cave with just a couple of boxes of candy. He can’t be serious? They were good and the man doesn’t skimp on the cheap kind found at a drug store but still. He needs to up the ante for his bolting maneuver.

[Bambi] Still not sure if you are back on pet name status yet. You can always send chocolate though. And no Hale. You got to work harder than that. I’m not that easy.

Well, most of the time anyway. Peter may disagree after the other night with how willingly Stiles fell into bed with him but semantics and everything….

[Hale of an Alpha] Well you know I do love a challenge

Yes, he knows. This could either be great for Stiles or it could fail spectacularly in his face. It really could go either way.

Stiles was getting ready to send another message when his phone started playing music. He looked at his device with an eye roll. Swiping to answer, he sighed out loud. “You seriously can’t stick to texting old man?”

“That’s very rude Bambi. Just way easier and quicker to talk. Plus, it is more fun to antagonize you with my voice so I can hear your responses.”

Stiles ran his fingers through his hair. He should of known that Peter would actually prefer to talk and that he couldn’t get away with a just few messages back and forth. “Well, I am not engaging with you tonight. As much as I said let’s pretend that anything happened. I am still going to make you stew a bit. You deserve it.”

“Well deserved. Yet have you decided to agree to attend the wedding with me?”

He is out of his freaking mind. “No Hale. I haven’t but oh my god.” Stiles adjusted himself on his queen bed to sit up straighter. “My dad is going with Christopher Argent. Like he said they were going as friends but I so predict he is going to be boned by that hunky alpha.”

Stiles almost felt like a gossipy school girl sharing tea with a best friend as relayed the news and waited impatiently for Peter to respond. “Interesting to say the least. And hunky alpha? You think Argent is hunky?”

Oh yes. He struck a nerve with the alpha. Good. Maybe he could feel a little sting too. So yep, he was going to keep it going. “Um yeah. The man is hot. Total definition of DILF.”

The line was silent as he waited for Peter to say something. The alpha did take a few moments to respond. “Shouldn’t surprise me you have an affinity for older men. But you might be exaggerating a little with him. Good looking for sure. I mean hunky and hot? Maybe more distinguished.”

Stiles stifled his giggle that blossomed in his chest as he listened to Peter. Oh yeah, he got under his skin somewhat. This was way too much fun. “Oh, he’s that too. He’s the whole enchilada.”

The other groaned lowly. “We’ll have to agree to disagree then. Any other fodder you would like to share this evening? I could use a distraction. Jackson is being his annoying self.”

“Well, you’re the one who decided to live with him. No one forced your hand Hale.”

“Yes, yes. If I could only go back in time and tell my younger self not to do something so foolish.”

Laying back down on his pillow, Stiles snorted. “Whatever dude. We all know you love that asshole.”

“I suppose but don’t tell Jackson that. I will never hear the end of it. “

Yawning, Stiles stretched out his kegs while he curled his toes on the mattress. “No promises my man. It’s way too fun when Jackson gives you shit too.”

“I really should eradicate all of you. The whole lot of you can be terrible evil spawns.”

“Yeah, and then you would miss us. You would have no one to bother or complain to.”

Or banter with. Or flirt with. Or have no one to be snarky with.

The alpha groaned out. “I suppose you are right. The things I put with.”

“My heart is breaking for you Hale.” Stiles eyes grew heavy as he spoke. “Well, I guess it’s getting late and I do have class in the morning so I should probably get some shut eye.”

“Okay Bambi. I don’t want to infringe on your beauty rest or your school work. Sweet dreams as you think of sexy alphas that are not Chris Argent.”

Oh, someone might be a tad bit jealous but oh freaking well. He still deserves some smarts. Part of him really wanted to jest that he might just get off thinking of a certain alpha. Yet, he really needed to be smart and a bigger adult about things right now. He did need to go to bed and not open a can of worms. He did tell Peter he just wanted to put their sexcapade behind them and pretend it didn’t happen. And egging him about Chris wouldn’t help that cause.

Is it fun? Hell yes. But otherwise, it didn’t really get him anywhere.

“All right your alphiness. I cannot control my dreams but having my subconscious think of sexy alphas is not a horrible idea.” He could for sure get behind that idea of fantasizing of well-built alphas with big cocks. There could be worse things to dream about. “And before you get any ideas of trying to put any kind of perverted thoughts in my head, I am cutting you off now. I really do need to get some shut eye.”

“I’m hurt you would think such things of me.” Stiles rolled as eyes as he scooched down his bed, pulling up the covers. “Yet, I am sure I could grant you so much to imagine. Perhaps another time.”

“No promises dude. Night.”

Stiles swiped his phone to off as soon as Peter swiftly said good night and before he had a chance to interject anything else.

The man was nothing but persistent and he can already tell that he wasn’t going to pretend that they hadn’t had sex.

And honestly, Stiles wasn’t sure if he was going to be able to either.

Chapter Text

Peter stirred the contents of the pan that sat on the burner and let out a long-suffering sigh. Reaching over, he grabbed the frosted glass filled with amber liquid and swirled the contents before taking a big sip.

Whiskey. Not always the best but it did hit the spot as he crinkled his nose in slight displeasure.

“What’s got your panties in a twist?” Jackson asked as he barreled into the kitchen peering over Peter’s shoulder to peak at the food being cooked up. “You’re sighing, drinking, and cooking.”

Batting the other way, Peter glanced at the infuriating alpha. “Can’t a man have a drink and cook in peace? And there is nothing that has me worked up.”

“We both know that is BS,” he stated succinctly as he strolled to the fridge. Opening the door, the other grabbed a beer bottle and proceeded to twist off the metal cap. “You and your little fawn still fighting?”

Peter leveled the other alpha a look as he took a swig of his beer. “We’re not fighting. We had a slight disagreement and I think he has me more on a probationary period but we’re fine.” They were fine. Maybe not quite the besties they were a few days ago but they were good. Stiles texted him and he called him. They talked and bantered and all was fairly well.

The frustrating alpha cocked his perfectly manicure right brow as Peter spoke. He looked unconvinced. He would need to take Jackson’s tweezers later and hide them since he was being such a bratty friend right now. “Okay, so you two have kissed and made up? That mean the little fawn has agreed to go to the wedding with you?”

Peter turned back to his stir fry to shuffle the vegetables around before they stuck to the bottom of the pan. “It’s a work in progress.” He still thinks he can convince Stiles to attend with him. Maybe. The boy can be incredibly stubborn. It was fiifty-fifty at best right now. “What about you? Got a date?” He asked to quickly change the subject from himself as he put his glass back down on the porcelain counter so he could focus more on his dinner.

“Well,” Jackson dragged the word to set up some anticipation. “I do actually.” He smiled. No, he fucking smirked as he placed the beer bottle down next to Peter’s. “I managed to snag myself a hottie.”

Interesting. Jackson wasn’t seeing anyone at the moment. Well, Jackson doesn’t see anyone at all really. He flirts and sometimes sleeps with others but he doesn’t date. It was one of the many things they had in common – that drew them together. Perpetual bachelors. Therefore, Peter was piqued for sure. “Really? I didn’t realize anyone was on your radar.”

“Oh,” he waved his hand in the air. “Not really. I just thought fuck it. Why not? I told Derek he was going to be my date. Didn’t give him much room for negotiating. You know I can be fairly persuasive and shit.”

Peter turned the knob to shut off the burner and almost gave himself whiplash as he went to face Jackson. “My nephew? You asked Derek?”

Shrugging his shoulders. Jackson tilted his head to the side. “Yep,” he popped the p for emphasis. “I can appreciate a fine ass and your nephew has a fine ass. Plus, I’ve been wanting to compare our abs lately. It’s been a while since we’ve worked out together.”

“Derek? You asked Derek?”

“Did I stutter?” The younger man taunted back as he crossed his arms over his bulky chest.

Peter didn’t know how to feel about this. It was odd but perhaps he shouldn’t be surprised. Jackson doesn’t care about dynamics and secondary genders. He just loves to have sex. And objectively speaking, his nephew is a good looking alpha so he could understand the other pursuing him. Actually, maybe it’s odder that it hasn’t happened sooner. “I mean… I’m surprised. Didn’t realize you wanted to be with Derek like that but, the boy could use some release. Maybe he won’t be as constipated. And I know you don’t care that he’s an alpha so… have fun, I guess. And I don’t want to hear details.”

Uncrossing his arms, Jackson leaned over to grab his beer. “Can’t swear to that but yeah, the boy is pent up and needs some major relief through some extracurricular activities.” Dragging another swallow of his beverage, Jackson licked his bottom lip, eyeballing Peter, “got enough to share?”

“Of course. I knew you want some.”

“You know me all too well.”

Almost through eating dinner, Peter wiped his fingers on his napkin and reclined back on the wooden chair. “So since I’m on so called probationary period, I sent Stiles some chocolate. I need to amp it up a little. What do you think about flowers? Too much?” He wasn’t trying for a romantic gesture or anything but he also didn’t want to send something too impersonal either. It was a fine balance to show hey, I kind of fucked up. Can we go back to our amazing friendship. There wasn’t a Hallmark card to express that as far as he was aware of.

“I don’t know how your little fawn would take to that kind of gesture.” The other alpha rubbed his chin his thumb and index finger like he was really contemplating the world’s problems. “Oh, I know,” he piped excitedly like a light bulb went off in his head. “Lingerie. Send him some sexy red lingerie.”

“How the hell is that going to help? He’s just going to toss it in the trash and I think I am moron or something.” No, Stiles would probably not take kindly receiving a gift like that. The boy would be insulted and wondering why Peter thought it was appropriate to give him such an intimate item.

Releasing his fingers from his chin, Jackson waggled his finger at Peter. “Nope because you’ll buy the nice shit. Nothing like Walmart caliber. He will secretly be enamored by the feel, quality, and looks. He’ll call you a pervert or something. Maybe a little angry at you. But the boy will then hastily shove in the back of his drawers because he won’t be able to convince himself to throw it away. Curiosity and shit.” Jackson was certifiable. “And then like six months later, he’ll be rocking the red lace for you as you devour him. And you’ll be thanking me with a steak dinner or some fancy ass cologne. I’m good with either.”

“I grant you; you do paint an interesting picture. A very fictionalized one but very fascinating nonetheless.”

“Oh, I do think it can be very much of a reality. Got to think big my man.”

He’s not so sure. He is more on the line that the omega will give him a good swift kick to the balls if Peter presented him with sexy lingerie. And he is rather attached to his balls and would rather not take that kind of chance. “I am thinking of a bigger picture and not convinced that is the way to go. However, the thought of Bambi dressed in something like that is for sure intriguing but I’m not positive if we would ever get to that point again. Right now, it is just to solidify our friendship.”

“Aw fuck, you’re really soft sometimes. That boy has you wrapped around his finger. But fine fine. I’ll see if I can come up with another idea. However, to be clear, it’s going to be hard after that amazing one I just had.”

Two days later, Peter’s phone vibrated in his pocket as he was getting out of his car in front of his sister’s house. He almost ignored the notification since Talia had demanded his help with something in regards to the wedding and he preferred to not keep her waiting.

Noting that it was Stiles calling, he knew he couldn’t decline. Talia would have to wait a few minutes. “Hello Bambi. How are things with you today?”

“A candle huh? A big yellow colored pillar candle. Are those doves etched on the side?” Silence proceeded the questions but then he quickly continued. “I didn’t take you for a candle guy.”

“Well,” Peter scuffed his loafer on the gravel drive as he slowly made his way to the front door of the house. “Not my normal shtick for sure but it seemed fitting. And those are turtle doves. They symbolize friendship.”

The omega snorted in his hear. He thought it was a better choice than lingerie. “Hale, you are getting soft in your old age.”

“So I’ve been told.” Have Stiles and Jackson been commiserating. He wouldn’t put it past the two of them – ganging up on Peter. Probably trying to see how far he will go to ensure Stiles stays good friends with him. Seeing how many presents he will deliver to the omega. “Do you like it?”

“It’s nice and I appreciate the gesture but you really don’t have to keep buying me shit. I mean again you can send more chocolate anytime though.”

Stepping up onto the porch, Peter paused before entering the dwelling. He didn’t need any overbearing and a nosey sister listening into his conversations. “Well, you did say I had to work harder so there you have it… a candle.”

“Dude working harder doesn’t have to translate buying me stuff. Just be you. Talk to me like always. Be there for me like always. Just don’t make things weird between us. And thank you for the candle. I do really like the symbolic gesture behind it.”

Peter smiled internally and felt relief washing over him. So, they were good. He just had to be on his best behavior and not mess things up. He could do that. Maybe. It might be hard. “Good. I debated a while on what to get and Jackson was absolutely no help.”

“Doesn’t surprise me the least bit. Don’t know why he would take advice from him anyway.”

He doesn’t know why either sometimes. That alpha can be a menacing brat sometimes – a thorn in his side so to speak. Walking back on and forth on the cement area in front of the house, Peter tried to peak into the window. Talia probably knew he was here and wondering why he hadn’t come in yet. “I don’t know Bambi. I guess I just can’t not seek out from him. Listen,” he sighed dejectedly. I am at Talia’s and I really need to go inside and I may have an already ordered another gift for you but it will be the last one.”

“Ooh, sounds like you got summoned to the principal’s office.” Something like that for sure. “Good luck. And okay, I’ll be looking out for it. And seriously Hale, thanks for being my friend. My bestie my life.”

“Of course, right back at you.”

Peter slid the button to end the call and hummed under his breath. Supposed crisis averted he thinks. Stiles wasn’t upset or angry – maybe a little on edge but he was good. He was in an okay place with the two of them so Peter will take that as a win.

Now, he has to prop himself up and face his sister. His darling sister that he loves to the moon and the back who is also a gigantic pain in his side. She and Jackson take turns. And today is her day.

Well, here goes nothing, Peter took a calming breath and rang the doorbell.

“Here’s your tea,” Talia handed him the tea cup held precariously on the fine porcelain saucer. “Should be steeped to your liking.” She kindly offered.

“Thank you, smells divine.” He smiled as he grabbed the proffered item and watched as she sat down across from him in a red colored wing backed chair. Blowing on the hot liquid, Peter took a sip and placed the cup down of the coffee table. “Not having any?”

Crossing her legs in her tapered gray pinstripe pant suit, she tucked a stray piece of hair behind her right ear. “I had a cup earlier today. So how is my baby brother?”

He should have realized she would turn this into a social call. Locking his ankles together, he reclined back into the sofa cushions. “I’m wonderful. I thought you had some wedding chores for me to do.”

Pursing her lips, the older alpha hummed loudly. “I do but I didn’t think I would need make an excuse to talk to my brother and I see I do.”

“You don’t Tal but I have a feeling you are going to nag and I much prefer not to have you nag. And I’m sure Derek woiuld be most willing to help his mother out with anything you need. He’s younger so he’s got more energy and maybe a little stronger to assist with any heavy lifting.”

He didn’t like to admit he was getting older but he for sure has slowed down a little and he realizes his nephew maybe more suited for some things depending on what is needed.

“It’s only because I love you. “She leaned forward slightly with a lopsided smile. “Yes, I will be reaching out to Derek as we get closer to the wedding. I do have some lovely beta girls I could introduce you to if you have not found anyone to bring.”

He refrained from rolling his eyes but he really wanted to. He reached over to grab the mug of tea and took a sip of the calming Earl Gray. Once he swallowed, he matched her smile.

“I do not need you to set me up with anyone.” He hates to think what they might be like. It’s not like his sister has bad taste – just different than his. He’s never particularity been attracted to the people she has tried to set him up with in the past. Plus, he just doesn’t want to be set up. Period. “And I honestly don’t see the big deal of why you think it’s necessary that I show up with someone.”

“It will be better for the pictures. And don’t you think you have been a lifelong bachelor long enough?”

“No, I like my singlehood. And seriously? For the pictures? Ten years from now, Laura will be looking at her wedding album and wondering who the hell her uncle was standing next to.”

Scrunching her face, brows pinched together, the other alpha shifted her wait on the chair. “I suppose you have a valid point with that.” Score one for Peter. “But is there anyone on your radar at least? Someone you may be interested in? Any hope that you might have met a potential someone?”

And Tal wonders why he doesn’t stop by more for socialization – this right here is the main reason. Taking another quick sip of his tea, Peter stretched back out into the cushions eyeballing his infuriating sister in the process. “Not particularly. However, just to make you somewhat happy, I am working on bringing someone.” Her eyes light up in excitement. “But,” he held up his hand so she wouldn’t vibrate with too much joy. “It may not work out so just don’t get your hopes up too high.”

He would like to think his pure persuasiveness would out stubborn Stiles so the boy would eventually give in. But he also realizes how headstrong the omega is so he wasn’t counting on it either. For sure it will be the battle of the wills so to speak.

“I understand,” she clasped her hands together. “I’ll try to bite my tongue more. I just want you to be happy. And I guess I just want you to share that happiness with someone. You are an amazing alpha Peter and I know someone would be so incredibly lucky to have you be a part of their lives.”

“Thank you. I may get there some day but it will be on my own timeline. And I am happy. I have a beautiful family and amazing friendships. Right now, I feel like I am in a good spot.”

Granted, he certainly would not complain if Stiles desired to impale himself on his dick again but Talia didn’t need to know that. No, she didn’t need to be in the know of any of what has transpired between the two of them. She would probably start planning another wedding if she got wind of any transgressions with Peter and Stiles.

It was best to keep her in the dark.

And besides, it didn’t mean anything. They were putting it in the past. Pretending nothing happened.

Right?

Notes:

Phew, what a week. Had to put my cat to sleep on Tuesday.

And my daughter graduates high school in 2 weeks and yesterday was the last of many things that had me crying most of the day.

Glad I have this and all of you to help make the day brighter.

Chapter Text

Stiles held his burrito in one hand and his large Coke in the other as he balanced his backpack on his right shoulder.

His eyes scanned the student union food court to locate a good place to sit – somewhere not too secluded but also not right in the thick of things. Glancing as he walked, he grinned in surprise as his eyes landed on an alpha off to the side.

He approached the man with jet black hair and a chiseled jaw who was looking rather studious with glasses pushed against the bridge of his nose. Sliding in the booth across from the man caused him to look up from his laptop to see who the intruder was.

The alpha appeared bewildered and then grinned with his cute as hell bunny teeth. “Hey Der, didn’t know you would be on campus today.” Stiles greeted as he unwrapped his lunch.

“Had to hit up the library. This dissertation is not exactly my friend and I needed a break.” He hummed while he closed down his laptop to look over at Stiles. “How are you?”

“Good,” he replied around a mouthful of beans and lettuce. “Mostly anyway and remind me never to go for a Master’s degree. You work way too hard.”

Laughing, Derek leaned back in the booth. “I guess I do sometimes. And what do you mean you are mostly good? Do I need to rough up an alpha for you?”

Fuck, he loves Derek so much – more so than his own kidneys sometimes. The man is always there and super supportive. Will do almost anything for Stiles (and what he won’t do, Peter will). Will lend an ear always and never judges him. Well, most of the time anyway. There may have been some judgey eyebrows when Stiles insisted, he could jump over a rather large puddle, miscalculated and totally face planted instead.

Taking a large sip of his soda, Stiles swallowed before replying. “You haven’t spoken to your uncle?” Stiles wasn’t sure if Peter would share what happened between the two of them or keep it more to himself. Or least not share beyond Jackson because the man can’t seem to keep anything from Jackson. He’s a literal open book when it comes to him.

“Not really, why?” Derek lurched forward and placed his elbows on the table. “Did he out sass you and you are pissed?”

“No, no.” He waggled his finger at the other. “That would never happen.” So good, Derek doesn’t know any specifics which per Stiles, it can be kept that way. “He’s just being insufferable. More so than usual. And I guess your mom is insisting that he needs to bring a date to the wedding and he asked me to be his plus one. We were kind of in the middle of a spat when he brought it up and I was sort of irritated him so I told him I had a date already.” He sighed before tacking on, “and now you know in for a penny, in for a pound.”

And Stiles just might have to unfriend his friend since Derek busted out laughing. Granted, he’s pretty when he laughs but he so didn’t need to at Stiles expense. Once the jerk alpha calmed down, he found his voice. “Somehow none of that surprises me in the least bit. Are you two nitwits done with your spat?”

“For the most part. Der, I need a date. I can’t give in now. I’m too stubborn. “Stiles coyly smiled while he grabbed for his soda once more. “Hey,” the omega had an idea instantly pop into his head. “Can we be dates? That could work, right?”

Leveling him a look, Derek began collecting his things. He placed his laptop in his computer bag as he spoke. “That would bring up so many questions from my mom and besides I am already going with someone.”

“Derek Hale,” Stiles practically shouted out in glee. “You have a date?”

‘Shush Stiles.” He waved his hand at the omega to encourage to be quieter but he really wanted to shout this news from the roof top. Derek doesn’t date much. Too busy studying or working or just being aloof or some shit like that. He’s an attractive alpha and could have any gender or dynamic he wants but he usually just prefers to keep to himself. “It’s not a big deal and it’s not really a date. It is more a friendly thing and I was voluntold.”

Okay. Stiles was beyond curious now. He took another sip of his drink and debated if he was going to eat another bite of his lunch “Do tell Der. Because huh?”

Groaning, Derek took a breath as he pushed his glasses back up his nose. “I just know you’ll give me a hard time but I can’t really keep it a secret either. I’m going with Jackson,”

“Jackson Whittemore? Are you fucking kidding me right now Der? Like seriously? Wait, you two like each other?” He asked in succession, disbelief in his tone.

“No!” The alpha stated as began collecting his trash from his lunch. “He basically told me were going to go together and then I realized it wasn’t the worst possible idea. Like with Uncle Peter, mom is encouraging me to bring someone. But I really didn’t have anyone to ask and if I did, I would feel bad ignoring them most of the wedding since I would be so busy. Plus Jackson was already going and will know people.” Shrugging his shoulders, he hoisted his laptop bag on his shoulder, “besides, Jackson will probably be getting his flirt on with everyone he can at the wedding so it’s just a friend thing.”

Derek slid out of the booth; Stiles watching him curiously. He made some valid points but he had a feeling deep inside that Jackson would in actuality get his flirt on with Derek – he thinks his friend may be a little dense but he wasn’t going to call him out on it. It will be fun watching it enfold at the wedding. “Huh okay. Not sure if I totally believe it but whatever dude.”

“I got to head back to the library,” he gestured with his thumb behind his right shoulder. “I’ll talk to you later.”

“Wait Der, what I am supposed to do about my dilemma.? Do you have any alpha friends I can go with?”

Derek posture softened while Stiles gazed upon his friend, hoping he would have lots of alphas to suggest that Stiles could go to the wedding with. “Not really. I wouldn’t trust most of them with you.”

Balling up his foil wrapped that held his burrito, Stiles wrinkled his nose. “You need some better friends my man.”

Sighing, Derek adjusted the strap on his shoulder. “They are not bad people. I just have high standards when it comes to anyone being with you.” Aw fuck, he was a true softy. “Only the best for my bestie omega friend. Well, there is Boyd. He’s a great guy and would treat you like a princess.”

“Der,” Stiles gesticulated his hands in the air. “I like Boyd but dude is huge. Just getting a hug from him would crush me. You don’t want one of your best friends crushed by a giant alpha, do you?”

Derek grinned sheepishly. “No, I wouldn’t. Just don’t let him hug you. It’s that simple.” Stiles pouted. That would be rude. “Hey, just either go alone or just go with Uncle Peter. I have feeling he’s going to be even more insufferable or unbearable if you don’t end up agreeing.”

“Tough. He made his bed and now he can sleep in it.”

The alpha narrowed his eyes towards Stiles. “Do I need to beat up my uncle? I will kick in him in the balls for you.”

Stiles waved his hand. “Nah Der, Thanks. It’s very sweet that you are willing to boot him in his nuts. We’re good. As I said, I am mostly trying to make a point and I can’t give in. I’ll figure something out.”

“Okay. We’ll talk later.” Turning to walk away from the table, Derek paused. “And I hope you two get over this little spat and tit for tat sooner than later. I don’t want to be in the middle of anything.”

Stiles waved off his friend. “We’re fine.” Mostly.

He was still somewhat irritated with the alpha.

Stiles noticed the white pillowy package by the door as he walked down the hall towards his and his dad’s shared apartment. He stopped and scooped up, reading that it was addressed to him. Immediately, he suspected that it was from Peter. And it should be the last gift. He didn’t mind getting gifts from the man but at this point, it just seemed unnecessarily and wasteful. It’s fun to milk him for his mistake but in the end, he just really wants them back to where they were.

Unlocking the door, Stiles both the package and his backpack as he walked in and then immediately shut the door behind him. “Pops, I’m home. Are you here?” He called out as his eyes roamed the area. Not hearing a response, Stiles dropped his bag on the floor by the front door to be dealt with later and then took the few steps towards the recliner with the package. It was firm with a little bit of weight

Tearing the strip off at the perforation, Stiles reached in the now open parcel and grabbed the item. Pulling out of its constraints, Stiles noted it was a leather-bound journey. He rubbed his palms long the leather and opened the book. The paged were blank with a golden inlay. The journal was absolutely gorgeous. He wasn’t sure why Peter chose those particular item, yet Stiles could appreciate the sentiment due to it’s beauty – he would need to find the time to write.

He used to put his thoughts to paper but not so much anymore. School and life took up a lot of time and of course the internet. He could go into a deep dive on some random topic and get lost for hours. It was bad but he also couldn’t help it sometimes.

Sighing out blissfully with the well-made book in his lap, Stiles pulled out his phone from his pant pocket. Locating Peter’s contact info, he pressed call. The man prefers talk over text and truthfully, Stiles believed this gift did deserve a vocal thank you.

“Bambi,” the aloha tone was smooth and calm as usual. It didn’t take a lot to rattle Peter. “It’s a surprise and a pleasure to hear from you.”

“Yeah, so I got your latest gift.” His focus reverted back to the book. “It’s gorgeous. I don’t even know what to say.”

“A thank you is fine. I’m glad you like it.” He paused for a moment. “It just kind of spoke to me and made me think of you.”

Caressing the leather and the spine, Stiles smiled as the alpha spoke. He knew him very well – knows what Stiles like and dislikes. Understands what he makes him tick so to speak. “Well thank you and I guess now I’ll need to start journaling again.”

“You’re welcome, so….’” he cleared his throat. “Does the book in anyway help convince you to be my plus one? Orr at least get me one step further out of the doghouse?’”

He did appreciate his determination. He just wished it wasn’t aimed at him at the moment.

Sighing, Stiles replied. “I told you I had someone I was going with.” Okay, it was bold face lie but Peter still didn’t have to know that right now. Shit, he hopes Derek can find someone for him to bring. Or maybe he could ask an alpha in one of his study groups. Yet they can be fickle. One day they are cool and want to study and learn. Other days, he feels like they want to bend him over right there in the library. Since he doesn’t know what alpha brain would show up that day, he would rather not take a chance with one of them. “And I guess. I mean, you are sort of still in the doghouse but I also just want to move on. Remember? We’re pretending things didn’t happen.”

‘Right,” the older man murmured through the receiver. “Nothing happened and we are still good friends. And who exactly are you going with?

Someone was curious and Stiles was too since he had no clue right now. “You’ll just have to wait and see.” He chided and hoped that would be good enough for now.” And speaking of, Jackson and Derek are going together? I don’t know how to feel about that. I mean I guess good for them but it’s kind of weird dude.”

“Color me surprised me as well but it sort of makes sense for them to go together and not bring some random person. Derek will be busy. And I figure Jackson is either going to flirt with everyone in attendance or Derek will get a good dicking. Or maybe both. Either way, I should be mildly entertained.”

Plopping his head back on the easy chair, Stiles breathed out. “I can see that. Maybe we should put out a warning to everyone who is attending about Jackson being on the prowl.” The response caused the other to snort in his ear. Palming the leather-bound book some more since the texture felt so damn nice, Stiles closed his eyes. “And you think Derek would be the one to get dicked and not the other way around?”

“Absolutely,” Peter answered resoundingly. Interesting, Stiles thought and now he is sort of curious as hell about that tidbit of information. Jackson would be a top and Derek would be a bottom. Hell, that is what alpha on alpha porn dreams are made of. “However, not that I think my nephew doesn’t need a good pounding, I would rather much talk of other things. Like how was your day or anything really before Jackson gets home and gives me a headache.”

“If he annoys you so much, why do you continue living with him?” Sometimes Stiles really didn’t understand the two of them. Both of the alphas can be infuriating at times since they are so similar in the personalities – both cocky and charismatic like they are frosting on cake. However, they can also be Ying and Yang. One day, they are besties and the next, they are at each other’s throats.

The alpha sighed out heavily. “You wouldn’t understand Bambi. He’s like a damn hemorrhoid on my ass. It flares up and subsides but never truly goes away. Embedded in my skin forever as a reminder that it will always be there no matter what.”

Popping an eye open, Stiles leveled at look at his phone wishing Peter could see his expression right now. “That’s a hell of analogy Hale. I don’t even know how to respond to that other than you two are fucking weird.”

“I suppose we are but he is definitely weirder than me. I am more reasonable and sensible.” Stiles feels like he could argue that point. Peter isn’t always the most reasonable person. “Surely you don’t want to talk about the thorn in my side? Let’s circle back to this alpha who is taking you to the wedding.”

If he didn’t know better, he would think Peter was kind of jealous but he was sure it was more curiosity and being freaking nosey. He doesn’t like being out of the loop when it comes to Stiles’ life. “I don’t think I ever said it was an alpha and I told you, you will have to wait and see.” Just like Stiles will have to wait and see who he conjures up out of thin air. And if he cannot find anyone, he’ll just go solo. He refuses to give into Peter even if it starts to verge on pettiness. “And you are certainly being persistent about this.”

“Yeah well, you have me intrigued Bambi. And just so you know if it falls through, you can have me as a backup. Talia is going to continue to be relentless but I refuse to show up with just anyone. Laura will not want some random stranger in her photos so I’ll just bite the bullet and show up stag.”

That was actually kind of sweet of the man. He almost believed that Peter might try to find someone or even pay for an escort so that he wouldn’t attend alone or to just show up his sister. “That’s kind of nice of you. But just for the record, I don’t think you would have trouble finding a date.”

“Thank you and also for the record, whoever it is that is taking you, is a very lucky man and I hope he treats you with the respect and dignity you deserve.”

Stiles’ cheeks flushed at the comment. He was glad the alpha couldn’t see him at the moment. “Thank you Hale.”

“Anytime Bambi. I’m always in your corner.”

He knew that. He really did but after they had their whole sex night, he wasn’t quite sure how to navigate whatever feelings that might have grown between the two of them.

Perhaps, it was just easier to pretend and forget – less challenging to stay friends like Stiles suggested. “Me too Hale. Always and forever.”

Chapter Text

Peter poured some coffee from the pot that Jackson thankfully had made. Taking the mug towards the kitchen table, he sat across from the other alpha who was finishing up some cereal. Pulling out the chair, he plopped down on the wooden seat. Humming around the hot liquid, he took a hesitant sip in order to not burn himself. Nothing was much worse than a burnt tongue.

Leaning back once the caffeine penetrated his pores, he sighed in contentment. Eyeballing Jackson, he swiped his tongue on his bottom lip. “You think Stiles really has an alpha he’s taking to the wedding?”

Jackson clanked the spoon in his now empty bowl and glared at Peter. “It’s too early for this shit.”

Ignoring the other, Peter kept going. “It’s just that he usually tells me almost everything and I just can’t figure out if it’s true or whether he’s just saying that.” He knows that Stiles can be stubborn and determined like Peter so it is possible he was just yanking his chain. He wouldn’t put it past the boy. Kudos to him and everything but he also couldn’t help but be irritated by it as well.

Sighing loudly, Jackson reclined back in his chair. “Your little fawn is just as stubborn as you are so wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t have anyone he was going with. Yet, I could also see that he shows up with some hot as shit alpha. It seems 50-50 to me. Either way, you were the idiot who slept with his friend and then continued to be a moron after said deed.”

“That’s hurtful Jackson. And he impaled himself on my dick. I was just a long for the ride. “Okay, so maybe he didn’t try to stop things and perhaps even encouraged more things but fuck Jackson. “And we’re putting that in the past and just being friends again so being friends means we tell each other shit.”

Jackson shook his head, “whatever. I think you both are idiots but what do I know? No one ever listens to my amazing advice. And again, too early for this shit.” Sliding his chair out from the table, Jackson reached for the empty cereal bowl. “Oh, so yeah, change of subject but I want to get a kitten.”

“A what?” Peter almost choked on his spit, with his eyes bulging out towards the other.

“You know a feline with fur, long tail, and triangle ears. They are cute as hell and I want to get one.”

“I know what a kitten is but why? And no way are you bringing a dirty animal in here. They leave fur everywhere and puke and pee.” Nope, pets can be a nuisance and they can be unkempt. Peter takes a pride in his place. Plus, he just knows he’ll end up having to help take care of the damn thing.

Jackson stood up from his chair, scrunching his nose. “You are kind of a prude but I think a kitten will melt that tin heart of yours. You’ll see.’

Peter grumbled under his breath, “Jackson, you are not going to bring a cat into our dwelling.”

Three days later when Peter stepped into the apartment, he really shouldn’t have been surprised but yet he was when he saw the little ball of orange fur staring up at him that let out a small mew. Taking a calming breath, Peter closed the door and tried to meditate rather quickly. “Jackson,” he called out but no answer. “I said no cats.”

Not surprising, the place was silent other than a little orange fluff ball meowing up at Peter. He was going to for sure murder him tonight. Yes, he will be down a friend and the annoying alpha will probably find a way to be a nuisance in his afterlife but it would be so worth it.

Closing the door behind him, he sauntered towards the kitchen and wasn’t surprised that the feline was trailing after him. He noticed some kitten food and treats on the counter. Jackson was prepared anyway. Eyeballing the food, the kitten seemed to know instantaneously it was his stuff and started meowing again.

Swearing under breath, Peter reached over to grab the bag of treats. Tearing It open, he sighed, “don’t get used to it. Yes, you may be rather cute but this is a temporary arrangement.” Placing some of the treats on the floor, the orange tabby immediately began to inhale them up like he hadn’t eaten in months.

Peter turned to grab a seltzer from the fridge and then made his way to the family area. Plopping down on the black leather sofa, Peter toed off his shoes and popped up the lid off his beverage. Taking a sip, he inhaled as he relaxed back into the sofa cushions.

Placing the seltzer on a coaster on the end table, he then dug out his phone to scroll to Jackson’s contact info.

[Peter] I said no cats

Almost right away, he saw little bubbles come up indicating the alpha was typing a response.

[Jackson] It’s a kitten, not a cat

Rolling his eyes, Peter exhaled audibly – loud enough that the neighbors probably could hear him.

[Peter] Same difference. It’s not staying here.

[Jackson] You’re a meanie Peter. You really want to make something that adorable homeless?

He’s not mean – no he’s just pratical and set in his ways.

[Peter] I’m sure you can re-home it just fine.

[Jackson] Whatever dude. I’ll be home in an hour. Try to be nice to him.

[Peter] No promises

Once the texting stopped, Peter put the phone down next to him and immediately felt his right pant leg being swatted at. He looked at the tiny animal that was engrossed with the cotton material. It played for a few minutes and then dug his miniscule claws into the material and began a slow ascent up his leg toward the sofa; stumbling ever so often as it got used to climbing. “Well, aren’t you a clever one? Too bad you are not allowed on the furniture.”

The threat was lost on the kitten since he continued to crawl up to his final destination with a satisfied meow once he reached the leather cushion. Head titled accompanied with another mew as it looked upon Peter almost asking, well? “Okay, clearly you are clever but it’s still going to be a no for me.”

Once more, the feline could care less what Peter wanted since it proceeded to leap onto his lap and began kneading bread with its paws. Even Peter couldn’t deny the thing was cute as he continued to make biscuits in order to make himself a comfy spot. Once he stopped, the fur ball laid down and wrapped its tail around itself. He couldn’t help but reach over and stroke his fingers through his fur. It was soft and even somewhat comforting.

“I see what you are doing and I am immune to your ways little kitty.”

Mostly anyway since he evidently fell asleep with the drastic animal on him.

“I am so sending this photo everywhere. It’s freaking adorable.” The baritone voice jolted his brain, causing his eyes to pop open and glare at the offensive interruption.

Jackson stood before him with a self-satisfied smirk, with phone clasped between his fingers. Peter’s brain was still raddled with sleep so he wasn’t able to come up with a decent come back, So instead he huffed and scowled at the kitten that was stretching awake now; with his little claws slightly digging into Peter’s thighs. “Just like it was with Stiles. I’m an innocent bystander. It leapt on my lap without me agreeing to such things.”

“Right moron,” Jackson shook his head. “He clearly likes you. And I think you like him.”

“He likes me because I fed him treats and I was here,” he surmised glancing down at the animal that was now attempting to hop off the sofa. “I’m not sure if the feeling is mutual.”

Shaking his head, Jackson pivoted on his feet and made his way towards the kitchen with a kitten dutifully following him. He let out a few mews probably yearning to be fed again. Peter watched the scene enfold as he remembered his seltzer. He grabbed the can that was now lukewarm but he took a drag of it anyway.

Taking the drink shifted his focus so he wasn’t expecting the vibration of his phone against his leg. Plucking up the device, he noted a message from Stiles.

[Bambi] Oh my god, you got a kitten? What is its name?

[Bambi] It’s so freaking cute. And it was sleeping on you…

Peter had to reread the message a few times to comprehend the influx of texts. “How the hell you did you send the picture to Stiles already?’ He called out to his traitorous roommate.

Jackson snorted as he eyeballed Peter from across the room. “Because I’m quick like that. And I assume your little fawn will be on my side so you won’t be able to banish the cutest kitty in the universe.”

“You play dirty. And what the hell is its name?”

“Right now, I’m leaning towards Cheddar.”

Bloody hell. Jackson was right. Stiles is going to go bonkers with this cat. He would for sure be seen as a bad guy if he made Jackson get rid of it.

[Hale of an Alpha] It wasn’t my idea for it to sleep on me. And his name is Cheddar

[Bambi] Holy hell, that’s too adorable. I’ll be over in twenty

Yep, the omega was enamored already.

Just as he said he would be, Stiles arrived about twenty minutes later. He had quickly made himself comfortable on the carpeted floor and miraculously a string appeared out of thin air that the boy was teasing the kitten with. “You are so darn cute,” he cooed at the little fur ball. “And I didn’t think you were a pet kind of guy?”

The question was directed at Peter. He looked at the omega wide eyed trying to come up with something reasonable. His brain was turning and it didn’t help that Jackson was hovering and staring at Peter. The alpha was presumably just as curious as to what might come from his mouth. “Well… you know people change and as you said, Cheddar is cute.”

He thought it was a good save but Jackson cleared his throat and Stiles just gazed upon him questionably – like he was pondering if Peter was just toying with him or not. “Right, interesting. he’s freaking cute. I might just catnap him when you’re not looking.”

Well, that might not the worst thing ever. Stiles is happy with a kitten and Peter doesn’t have to live with one. “You might make that alpha cry if you did that.” Oh, he is so going to put glue in Jackson’s hair products later. “He’s grown fairly attached to him already.”

Peter plastered on a smile to continue the charade. He’ll chastise Jackson later. “Well, the kitten is fond of my lap anyway.”

Stiles bobbed his head back and forth between Jackson and Peter before focusing back on the feline. “You two are acting odd. Not sure if it’s some kind of alpha pissing contest or something else. So, I’m just going to play with the kitty.”

“Rude little fawn,” Jackson barked out as he sauntered towards the bedroom hallway. “Yet, speaking of, I do need to take a leak. And for the record, I would beat his ass in a pissing contest any day.”

“I don’t think so.”

“Yeah, okay dudes. Whatever. I really don’t need to know.”

Peter continued to watch Stiles interact with cat for a bit until Cheddar decided he had enough and skulked away. The feline found some quiet corner as Stiles stood and stretched, not all dissimilar from what the cat looked like a few moments ago. “I may need to come over more often to interact with him.”

“You know are always welcome here.”

Smiling bashfully, Stiles nodded his head. “Yeah, but Jackson is not always on board.”

“Fuck him.”

Stiles laughed but Peter was being serious. Jackson could go suck it if he had an issue with the omega coming over. “Anyway, I do need to get going. Dad is going to be home and we’re having dinner so…”

“Of course, we’ll talk later.”

“Okay, bye Hale.”

Stiles had barely left when Jackson appeared almost gruffly with his left brow cocked. “I cannot believe you hijacked my new kitten to try to get in his pants again.”

Peter glared at the other alpha. “I do believe you are the one that told Stiles about the cat in the first place. You were hoping he would be on your side in order to convince me not to make good on my threat on tossing it out.” And yet, if there happens to be any benefit to Peter, he won’t complain.

The other waved him off. “Yes, but you never let on once that Cheddar was actually my cat and not yours. “

“Oh well semantics and if we both get what we want, does it matter?”

Jackson narrowed his eyes at Peter, “in the future, do not use my cat for your nefarious sex plans.”

Scrunching his face, Peter arose from his seating position and stretched his legs. Fuck, he was getting old – he needed to work out some of these kinks. “I’m not really jackass. We’re friends remember? We are putting the whole sex thing behind us.” But truthfully, it is a little challenging to do so. It was fun and Peter would not mind going another round or two or three with the boy. Sex with Stiles was fun. “But yes, if Cheddar helps mend our friendship back up and he agrees to be my plus one, then I may see a benefit of having the little fur ball remain here.”

“Right,” Jackson began shuffling around on his feet, eyes scanning the area – probably searching for said fur ball. “Not sure I totally believe you but if it means you place nice with Cheddar, I’ll deal with it.”

And that makes two of them – he’s not sure he believes himself either.

Notes:

Me thinks Peter secretly really likes the kitty.

Chapter 6

Notes:

You all were digging Cheddar lol. He'll be around a lot.

This is mostly a silly chapter.

Chapter Text

“Der, Der, Derek,” Stiles sighed out as he made himself comfortable on his friend’s sofa, sinking back into the cushion. Looking over at the alpha who had his legs crossed, reclining back into an easy chair who cocked his right brow from under his red rimmed eye glasses. Stiles groaned under his breath. “You know you really look hot when you wear glasses.”

The slightly older man murmured, “it’s super weird when you say shit like that. I thought you came over because you wanted a quiet place to study.”

Stiles eyes landed on his unopened laptop and the few books scattered next to it on the man’s pristine looking coffee table. Like seriously how does someone like Derek find the time to clean that much. “I am. Or I will be. Procrastinating. Like so maybe have you found an alpha that is willing to take me to your sister’s wedding?”

Closing whatever boring book he was reading, Derek exhaled as he gazed upon Stiles fondly. “No. Ii told you none of them are good enough for you. And I thought you and my uncle were not fighting.”

“We’re not and I still believe you need better friends my man. And,” Stiles thoughts wondered for a moment before continuing on. “Like I said before, I already told him I was going with someone and now I need to follow through.”

Running his thick fingers through his dark hair, Derek shook his head. “I will stand by this until the day I die. You both are stubborn idiots.”

“Thank you, Der, I love you too.”

Pushing his frames back up the bridge of his nose, Derek reopened his book, “you need to study and I need to get some reading done.”

Stiles groaned under his breath. He didn’t really want to study and do course work, yet leaned forward and opened up his laptop. Bringing up what he needed, the omega paused. “Hey you know, your uncle has a cat?”

He caught the alpha’s attention as his hazel eyes shown through the glasses to look at Stiles. “My uncle? Has a cat?”

Shrugging his shoulders, Stiles bit his bottom lip. “Well there was a kitten in his presence and is evidently taking up residence at his place but I am not really sure.”

“Has to be Jackson’s. No way Uncle Peter is getting a cat on his own.”

Stiles sort of was leaning the same way. The alpha hadn’t ever mentioned wanting to get any kind of pet. He’s not only a clean freak but can be selfish so he doesn’t really see him wanting to look after something like an animal. “Yeah, you may be right but he was interacting with it a little and the kitty slept on his lap. His name is Cheddar and the cutest thing ever. I might catnap it. Would you help me with something like that? I mean we’re friends and friends help each other out.”

“Stiles, I am so not helping you kidnap a cat especially one living with Jackson and Uncle Peter.”

“Ugh, you are so not being helpful in your sexy as hell glasses. First, no alphas and now not helping in a catnapping plot.” The other shook his head and focused back on his reading material, ignoring Stiles pouting. “Maybe I can go with you and Jackson?”

The sigh was super loud and the gaze was now more tinted with annoyance. “Stiles, do you really want to third wheel with the two of us?”

“Not really but let’s face it, you’re already going to be there at your mom’s place getting shit together and everything. Jackson is technically driving there solo so I would be more or less hitching a ride with him.” It made sense to Stiles. He could arrive with an alpha and have the appearance of not being there without someone. And then Jackson could go off and do whatever Jackson does.

Derek titled his head as he took in what Stiles was saying. As his brain absorbed the words, his face scrunched up. “You know you’re right. Why was he making a big deal of us going together? We’re not really going together. We’ll be more like be there at the same time. We could’ve just hung out and eliminated the whole plus one label thingy.”

He loves Derek. He really does but the alpha can be dense sometimes for all the smarts he has. The man can certainly can be clueless. “It’s because he wants to bone you, you doofus.”

His face remained contorted like this was the biggest newsflash of the century, “huh. Well, you need to take it up with Jackson as to whether he will take you. It won’t affect me one way or another.”

“Yeah okay, I just might do that.” He went back to focus on his school work as he wondered if he could convince Jackson to bring him to the wedding in a friendly capacity.

Studying at Derek’s didn’t work as well as Stiles thought it might. He kept getting distracted talking with Derek and then the alpha would get annoyed because Stiles was interrupting his own studies. Then he had convinced his friend to order pizza because he was hungry.

Basically, he didn’t accomplish much so he decided to go to the local coffee shop downtown off Main the next day to see if he had any better luck getting through some of his course work.

Taking a sip of his caramel cold brew, Stiles leaned back on the iron spindled chair as he read over the boring economics assignment he had to do. He was fairly positive he had read the same paragraph three times now. Rubbing his eyes with his free hand, Stiles sighed out in exasperation. Maybe this was hopeless too.

“Someone need another coffee?”

Stiles knew the voice without even having to look away from his laptop. “Hale, what brings you to this coffee shop?”

“Maybe because they have coffee and I like coffee Bambi.” He quipped as he slid into the chair across from Stiles. The omega’s eyes flickered up as the other carefully took a sip of his hot beverage. “Did you want some?”

Stiles twisted his face in disgust, “ew, not your nasty black coffee.” Stiles refocused back to his boring reading. “I have school work to do so I can’t really be chatty at the moment.” But he would rather talk – this is boring and he doesn’t want to do it.

“Don’t mind me then. I’ll just scroll on my phone for a bit.” The alpha pulled out his phone as he spoke. “Maybe when you’re done, you want to come over and play with the kitten.”

Now that caught Stiles attention. He very much wants to do that. It would be more fun than this reading and Peter for sure knew Stiles would very much like to interact with the kitty some more. He glanced up at the other with narrowed eyes. “Cheddar isn’t really yours, is he?”

Peter feigned innocence. “It may be more like a 70/30 ownership thing.”

Stiles still wasn’t sure if he was buying that percentage but he let it go. There’s the cutest kitten ever at Peter’s place that he wants to play with and currently he does not care who it actually belongs to. “Right, whatever. Yeah, sure I can do that but that means I really have to concentrate for a bit.”

“You won’t even know that I am here.”

He highly doubts that. The alpha can be very distracting in so many ways.

Stiles isn’t an idiot or blind. Even before they fell into bed with each other, Stiles could objectively look at his good friend and know he was a good looking alpha. Once Stiles was old enough to understand and became more attuned with his omega nature, he noticed that Peter was attractive and always inhibited a very nice cedar fragrance.

However, there were never a lot of opportunities to see what the man had hidden underneath his clothing. There were occasions when they had ended up swimming together so he was able to check out his chest but never for a long period of time. There was the time they ended up side by side at urinal and yeah, Stiles eyes may have wandered in curiosity to get a glimpse of his alpha dick.

He was not disappointed in what little he was able to see. Well, little wasn’t quite the right adjective.

But mostly, Stiles hadn’t seen a lot of Peter in that way until the evening they had sex together. That night, he was able to take in his fill of his friend – he was able to rake in the long plains on muscle on his chest and abs. Was able to really feel his biceps. And of course, his huge alpha dick was able to slide into just the right places – like it almost belonged there.

Not to mention, he was able to inhale the man’s scent innocently enough. It may have done some things to him inside. Made him flutter and perhaps yearn to breathe in more of his musky fragrance more often.

So needless to say, yes Stiles wants to put it behind him and move on. Wants to enjoy their friendship but it is proving to be hard. Like right now when he looks at Peter, he wants to climb in his lap, breathe in his cedar perfume and then ask him to take him again. And once again for good measure.

But he’s determined and most of all stubborn. He’s not going to do that – not going to put himself in that position again. Nope, he’s going to stay strong and remain friends and do his stupid assignment; no matter how challenging that maybe.

After all, there is a sweet kitten that needs his attention.

“That was torture,” Stiles groaned out as his bag hit the floor by the doorway. And really between the course work and Peter silting across from him, the torture could have been either thing at this point. “So now I earn the prize of a kitty,” Stiles surmised as his eyes scanned the apartment looking for said feline prize.

Closing the door behind, Peter sighed out. “I’m sure the orange nuisance is around somewhere. Is the kitten going to be the only reason you visit from now on?”

It was for sure a distinct possibility. “Nah dude. He’ll be a huge reason but I like you and tolerate Jackson so I’m sure he won’t be the only motivation.”

“Oh and here I was worried that I was not going to be graced by your presence little fawn.” Jackson’s baritone voice loomed out as he came from the bedroom hallway. Stiles wanted to be annoyed but the alpha was holding Cheddar so he zeroed in on him and made a beeline for the feline with grabby hands. Locking onto the furry animal, he managed to pluck him from Jackson rather easily. “Someone is rather obsessed.”

“Well, he’s only the cutest thing ever.” He cooed at the kitten that was now snuggly cradled in his arms. Taking a few steps back, he scooched down to the floor and started petting Cheddar. “So yeah, I’m going to play with him for a bit.”

Peter hovered above him for a few moments seemingly watching the interaction. “If you are content, I do have an important call to make.”

Stiles shooed him away with his hand. “I’m good Hale. Go do what you need to do. I got Cheddar here and,” he glanced over to the other alpha in the room. “And Jackson. He’ll keep my company.” And perhaps he can talk to him about giving him a ride to the wedding.

“I’m honored and delighted.” Jackson quipped.

Maybe Stiles doesn’t want to hitch a ride with this guy after all.

He listened to as Peter padded down the hall, closed his bedroom door, and overheard his voice faintly before he spoke, “so Jackson.” The alpha arched his left brow and slid down to the carpeted floor across from Stiles, reaching out his hands to encourage Cheddar to come towards him. And the traitor did leap off of Stiles and hopped towards the other. Despite being irritated, he moved on. “I sort of need a favor. Like how would you feel driving me to the wedding?”

He let out a long-suffering sigh. “Seriously? You and Petey still being stupid? And Derek is my plus one.”

The omega glanced at the feline who now seemed bored with Jackson and instantly became entertained with some kind of spot on the floor. “But Derek is already going to be there. You are not actually going with him. I just want the allusion of going with an alpha. Once we arrive, you can flirt or whatever with whoever. And,” it was Stiles turn to sigh out. “He was kind of a selfish ass and I’m a stubborn jerk so I told him I was going with someone. And now I need to follow through and not give in.’

Jackson leaned back on his elbows and kicked out his legs. “Petey and I are good friends but yeah, he was being an idiot. Still kind of is in my opinion. So…”, he let the thought dangle for a moment, not saying anything which had Stiles on edge. “’I’ll do it because I do think he needs to have some salt rubbed into his wounds. But little fawn, you need to not get in way of my A game and you better well be damn presentable walking in with me. I do have high standards after all – a look to uphold to.”

Stiles was grateful but he also had a sneaky suspicion that he might be regret it as well. The man was already be annoying. “Thank you. I love you man.”

“Fuck dude, don’t go too overboard. But if you do want to pay me back,” he sat back up, eyes roaming over Stiles.

The omega shivered,” I’m so not sleeping you. You would probably be a bigger asshole than Peter and would gloat about it for eternity.”

He waved Stiles off as he reached over to pet Cheddar who was hopping by his feet. “That’s extremely unfounded but, no I don’t want to sleep you. However, I have seen you fellatio a popsicle before so I’m down for a nice blow job though.”

Stiles glared at the alpha. “Nope, so not happening dude.” He could never see the two of them getting sexual in anyway. Yes, Jackson is an alpha and good looking one to boot. And he’s probably well hung too but no way. Stiles is not the least bit curious. Jackson just doesn’t do it for him and he just knows the man would be insufferable about bedding Stiles for the rest of his life.

“Think about it. If you’re still frustrated with Peter, that could be a good payback.”

“Yeah no, but thanks for the weird offer.”

“Still stands whenever you get the urge.” He was fairly positive that particular urge would never happen.

Luckily or unluckily, Peter took that moment to retreat from his bedroom and approach the living area. He neared the two of them with a quizzical look upon his face. “What have you two been talking about?”

Stiles swallowed deeply hoping Jackson wouldn’t tell the man the whole truth. It would be awkward and a little embarrassing. He gave the alpha a pleading look and Jackson’s facial expression appeared perturbed. “Nothing too interesting,” Jackson responded. “Other than Stiles thinks my dick is way bigger than yours but that’s not surprising since I am hung like a horse.”

Jackson stood up as Stiles eyes widened. Okay, that might even be worse than telling the truth. “That’s not true. I didn’t say anything like that.”

“Well, you might not have said it but it’s definitely true.”

“My dick begs to differ,” Peter jumped in, seemingly not fazed by the direction of this conversation.

All Stiles wanted to do was play with Cheddar. And now he is in the middle of literally a dick measuring contest between two alphas.

How did his life become this?

Chapter Text

Somehow Jackson roped Peter in going out for drinks. Well, the other also insisted that Derek join too so at least he had someone else to share the misery with. Or mostly anyway since his nephew decided he needed to use the restroom.

They gone to one of the bar/slash restaurant places downtown. One of the smaller venues that had outside seating where they currently were gathered around a circular table near the sidewalk. Therefore, it wasn’t the worst – not too crowded and thus far no one annoying had approached. Peter could deal with the outing but he preferred to be back at the apartment reading. Hell, he would have preferred a certain ball of fur curled on his lap. Alas, he was out being social and he was tolerating it.

Taking a sip of his frozen margarita, Jackson’s head pivoted as Derek retreated toward the bathroom. “Hey, does Derek like praise kink?” The alpha asked as he brought his frosty mug of Heineken to his lips checking out Derek as he walked away.

“How the hell am I supposed to know that?”

His annoying friend shrugged his shoulders, “I don’t know. He’s your nephew. I assumed you would know things about him.”

Placing his glass on the moistened cocktail napkin, Peter groaned out. “Yes, things like his favorite color and food. Not what he likes in bed you moron.”

“Okay, okay,” Jackson put his hands up in a placating gesture. “Don’t get so sensitive. I think you may need to get laid again Petey. You seem on edge more so these days.”

He practically sneered at his friend and there were a few moments of silence that lingered in the air while Peter gathered his thoughts.

The alpha leveled the other a look and was instantaneously grateful that Derek was back so quickly and took his seat. “I do not and I’m fine.” Mostly but Jackson can take a hike off a cliff. A big cliff for that matter. Plastering a smile on, he turned to his nephew. “How was the restroom dear nephew?”

Derek eyes scrunched together, “um, okay? It’s a bathroom. No paper towels but otherwise, decent I guess.”

“No paper towels? Well, I guess I’ll just have to wait to get home before going myself. Which by the way, it is getting to that point in the evening.” Peter made a gesture of pushing his seat back on the cement.

“No, it’s not,” Jackson interrupted. “We haven’t been here that long and you’re deflecting.”

That was rude. And he wasn’t. Well perhaps he was a little. And yes, Jackson needs to find that cliff like right now.

“What is he deflecting,” Derek asked innocently enough as he reached for his drink – some kind of fruity and sweet looking thing.

“I think he needs to get laid. Also being stupid and idiotic with your little fawn has now made you more insufferable than usual. I think you need to have sex or at least get down and dirty with someone. Sex will help release whatever you have gotten going on in that moronic brain of yours.”

Peter continued to stare at his so-called best friend. “Derek, help me out here. Tell me you’re on my side.”

“Well,” Derek dangled the word as he wiped the condensation off his glass. “He’s not entirely wrong but I also refuse to talk about your sex life.”

Jackson smirked like a cat who got a canary. “See? He thinks I’m right.”

Ugh, it’s annoying when Jackson even gets cockier than usual. Why does he let this man be one of his best friends? “Thanks Derek.”

“Just saying, you have been more insufferable lately. I thought you and Stiles hashed out whatever your disagreement was. You guys are still good right?” His nephew interjected.

“Yes, cool as a cucumber.” He thinks. At least that is what the omega keeps insisting on. “Why? Did he say something to one of you?”

Pushing his chair back on the cement, Jackson stood up. “No one says that anymore. And not to me. And as usual, he’s just being stubborn like someone else I know.” Taking a few steps from the table, the other alpha eyeballed them.” I’m going to grab another beer. Any of you losers want anything?”

Both he and Derek shook their head as Jackson walked off towards the bar area. Peter took a sip of his drink and leaned back in his chair, looking over towards his nephew. “I’ll pay you handsomely.”

“For what?”

“To help me bury his body. You don’t have do too much of the dirty work but I don’t think I can do it all my own.”

Derek snorted with a shake of his head. “It wouldn’t work. I’m not going to be accessory. As much as he frustrates you, you love him too much. Plus,” Derek tilled his head,” Jackson would find a way to come back as a ghost. He will haunt you forever to spite you.”

“Oh, bloody hell, you are right. I wouldn’t be able to get rid of him and he would find a way to take me with him. Then I would be ghost alongside of him for eternity.”

“Yep,” Derek raised his glass in cheers gesture. “Best to stick with him in a human life form. You’ll be okay Uncle Peter. I have faith in you.”

Well, at least one of them does.

Peter couldn’t help it but he couldn’t get rid of that little niggle in the back of his head that Jackson and Derek seemingly planted the other night.

He was fairly positive that he and Stiles were good. Maybe not great but they were fine. And he was also sure he was not being insufferable. Or mostly anyway. What the hell do they know? They are both equally unbearable too.

However, curiosity killed the cat and what not. Therefore, two days later he showed up at Stiles place, knocking on his door holding ice coffee in his right hand for the omega – he wasn’t against bribery gifts.

The omega opened the door, taking in the scene with the proffered plastic cups. He leaned against the door frame, arms crossed over his chest and attempted to rise his left brow and failed. He didn’t inhabit that characteristic that all the Hales had down to a science. “Hale,” his eyes flickered the iced coffee. “What’s the occasion?”

“I was in the neighborhood.” The omega didn’t look convinced but yet he uncrossed his arms and reached for the beverage. Immediately, the boy took a sip and a smile formed across his face.

Lifting off the doorway, he jerked his head to the family area indicating Peter could come in. He followed the boy inside and closed the door behind him. Trailing behind the omega to the couch, they both took a seat next to one another.

Stiles angled his body towards Peter and crossed his right leg over his left. “Not that I don’t enjoy iced coffee because I do but what’s up?”

He was hoping he wasn’t being that obvious but of course he was. It’s not like it’s every day Peter just drops by with a coffee. It’s usually more like special occasions or if the boy is down or sad.

Raking his left palm down his thigh and pressing out the few wrinkles bunching up, he glanced over at Stiles who was still looking at him in anticipation. “Basically, Jackson and Derek got into my head so….”

The other snorted and then stretched to place his coffee on the table in front of him. “You know when you guys get together, sometimes you are the three alpha idiots.”

That was so sort of rude but not totally unfounded. They can be dumb. They have been pulled over once just by being suspicious and Peter has encountered numerous injuries just horsing around with them. “That’s not always a fair statement.” Stiles smiled knowingly – the little brat. “Okay whatever. This time they were ganging up on me. And I just, we’re still good right?”

Bambi’s eyes widened as he let out a loud audible sigh. “Really? They were giving you a hard time about that?”

“Sort of but you know how they get? One of their favorite past times is tease me.”

Shaking his head, the omega reached over and patted Peter’s hand in reassurance. “Yes, we’re fine. I’m still a little irritated at you. As I said before, our friendship means a lot to me so I’m not going to piss it away.”

“Thank you.” Peter was relieved to hear those words even though the boy has spoken them previously. It never hurt to get more reassurance. Because he feels the same way – their friendship means the world to him and he doesn’t want anything to come between that.

“Still not going to the wedding with you though, but you can so order some dinner. I’m starving.”

That was something he could do. He was sort of hungry himself. Pulling out his phone to see what options there were, he side eyed the boy. “So who is the alpha you are going with?” He decided to go with nonchalant and casual to see if the boy would actually fess up this time.

“Nope, good try. You’ll just have to wait and see.”

The answer did aggravate him but he was not surprised to hear it. At this point, Peter believed that either the boy was in the same boat as Peter and really didn’t have anyone he was going with or truly was just giving him a hard time in making him wait. Either way, he assumed he was not going to find out the final answer until the big day which was annoying but he supposes he does deserve it too. “Well, then I guess I shall see.”

“You shall. Now dinner?” His big brown doe eyes gazed over to him in a pleading gesture – the look that helped spawn the nickname Bambi so many years ago.

Peter ordered Chinese because Stiles was in a fried rice mood. Once the food arrived, they dug in as some crime drama played on in the background. They watched it but not intently since they paused to chat about things and then as Stiles put it, the ludicrous story line playing out.

It was normal and refreshing. They even knocked knees a few times and no awkwardness arose so perhaps their friendship was well mended. Peter was fine with that. Yes, his brain may have drifted a few times thinking about what it would be like to just lean over a place a kiss on the boy. But he also realized, as it much as it would be nice to do that, he also didn’t want to jeopardize anything else at this point.

Maybe one day, they would explore more with each other but now, the alpha was content just soaking up the omega next to him – just having his friend right here was enough for now.

Despite not being that absorbed with the program, Peter was startled when he heard keys jiggling at the front door. Glancing up, he noted that Stiles’ dad was home. Evidently, he was coming back from work since he was adorning the drab tan sheriff uniform.

“Hey Pops,” Stiles greeted out at the older beta whose eyes were scanning the discarded food boxes on the coffee table.

“Hi son,” the sheriff spoke as his focus drifted towards Peter. “Hi Peter. I see you two are over your spat?”

Peter smiled as wide as he could. It never hurt to stay in the man’s good graces. It’s not that Noah doesn’t like him. It’s just that Peter has this underlying feeling the man has never been thrilled that an older alpha is such good friends with his omega son. He understands to a degree but also has never given the man any reason to worry though. However, it never hurts to be sweet as pie. “Yes, I seemed to have wormed way back onto his good side.”

“I know you worked hard. I thought Stiles was going to be stubborn about it for a while longer but I am glad he relented. It’s no fun when you two are not getting along. He is so damn miserable.”

“Hey,” Stiles interjected. “That’s not really nice but I can’t help it if stubborn is my middle name. But yes, everything is good.” The omega smiled as he nodded towards Peter. “And how was your evening? Working hard with Mr. Argent? Or hardly working?”

The sheriff let out a deep heavy sigh while he scrubbed his left palm over his face. “Stiles,” he groaned out. “I told you we’re friends. Nothing is going on between us.”

“Okay Pops, whatever you say.” He finger gun saluted at the older man and winked at Peter. The boy evidently didn’t believe his dad.

Peter didn’t know what to think, other that it was kind of amusing so he kept his mouth shut.

“Why don’t you worry about yourself?” His eyes flickered between the two of them and Peter wasn’t quite sure what the good sheriff was implying. Made him wonder what Stiles has said to his dad or whether the man was just teasing his son. “Anyway, it was a long day. Gonna shower and go to bed.” The beta took a few steps waggled his index finger at them. “And you two be on your best behavior.”

“Always Pops. Good night.” Stiles exclaimed cheerily as Peter nodded his head.

The older man groaned knowing his son all too well – Stiles doesn’t always behave. Hell, Peter is usually right there with him but hey, it can be fun.

Silence hung in the air until the sheriff walked down the hall to his bedroom and shut his door behind him. Stiles immediately leaned into Peter’s side with a whisper, “my dad has either already got dicked down by Alpha Argent or will be at some point. Mark my words.”

Peter quirked his brow with a smile. “You seem very invested in your dad’s sex life.”

“Well, I want him to happy so…” the omega yawned around the last word. “I probably should call it a night too. Still got some homework.”

The alpha side eyed the boy. “You have homework? And you let me distract you half the evening?”

“Well duh. Iced coffee, Chinese food, and TV. Why would I give that up over homework?”

Kind of hard to argue that point, he supposes but he also doesn’t want to be the reason he fails or does poorly in school. So he had to reluctantly be the bigger person. Sighing, he slid his side out from Stiles who had crowded even more into him. “I should go.” He stood up and stretched his arms towards the ceiling. “Besides I haven’t gotten in my quota of annoying Jackson today.”

“Well yes, we cannot have that.” The omega rose from the couch and knocked his elbow into Peter. “Thanks for the coffee and dinner. It was fun and nice. Glad it wasn’t weird or anything and we can be our usual self’s.”

“Me too Bambi.” He reached out his arm out and pulled Stiles into a side hug. The boy easily melted into his left shoulder which allowed the alpha to inhale his sugary sweet shampoo that lingered on his hair. “We’ll always be friends.”

Yet, he had to admit, it might be a little challenging since the omega did smell so damn good.

Chapter 8

Notes:

I just love Jackson so darn much.

Chapter Text

“This is stupid even for you.” Derek huffed out as he glared at Stiles. “I don’t even know why I agreed to this. Actually, I haven’t agreed to it. You just annoyed me and I had to relent.”

Stiles disagrees mostly. “Whatever dude. I think it’s because you love me and have never learned not to say no.” He smiled at his friend because he was right. Derek cannot say no to Stiles. Ever. It’s not in his vocabulary. Has the alpha regretted that choice? Um yes. Stiles has heard that on many of an occasion that Derek regrets some of his life choices when it comes to Stiles’ antics. However, it’s not his fault if Derek has an aversion to not agreeing with Stiles plans no matter how convoluted they may be.

The other man heaved a sigh. “Fuck, you’re right but it’s still idiotic and never will work.”

Stiles waved the other off. It was full proof. Well mostly anyway. He took a deep breath and knocked on the door. “Just be cool Der. Act nonchalant.” The alpha leveled him look just as the door swung open revealing Jackson, left eyebrow quirked up in surprise.

His eyes flickered back and forth between them. “Wasn’t expecting a broody alpha and a little fawn today. What’s up? Here to see Petey?”

“Can’t two guys just want to stop over and say hi?” Stiles asked calmly.

Jackson shuffled his feet and crossed his arms over his broad torso. “You’re acting weird even for you.”

Rude. He was not. Stiles was about to defend himself until Derek interjected and blasted his fool proof plan all to hell. “He wants me to distract you so he can steal your cat.”

Stiles flung his hand into Derek’s bicep which did nothing except cause Stiles to flinch in discomfort. “You’re supposed to be my friend Der. Not a traitor.”

“It wasn’t going to work.”

“Sure it was if you would haven’t confessed prior to the act. Dude, remind me never to go on a crime spree with you. You would probably call the cops and they would be waiting for us with guns blazing before said crime was committed.”

Jackson shook his head and exhaled. “You’re both idiots. And Stiles, you would have been suspect number one if my cat went suddenly missing, you moron.”

Well, perhaps he didn’t think everything through. “It was a good plan in my head.”

“It never was,” Derek groaned and nudged Jackson out of the way. “Now let me meet this dang cat that has Stiles going cuckoo.”

Jackson moved further inside to let both of them into the apartment. “You just lost your privilege of being my best man in my future wedding for being so mean.” Stiles pouted as his eyes scanned the area for Cheddar. Once his eyes landed on the fluffy fur ball, Stiles made a beeline for the feline.

He immediately sat down on the floor and patted the area in front of him in hopes he would come to him like a dog. The kitten cocked his head but otherwise ignored the gesture. “Isn’t he the cutest thing ever Der?”

The alpha had followed him over and scooted down to the same level as Stiles and Cheddar. “It’s cute but not sure if it’s worth putting aiding and abetting of catnapping on my rap sheet.”

“Whatever,” the omega waved the other off.

“Is this going to be a long visit?” Jackson questioned as he hovered nearby. “I was debating rubbing one off until you two - Dumb and Dumber showed up.”

Stiles scrunched his nose and gagged out loud. “Ew Jackson. My innocent ears didn’t need to hear such things. And that was not nice and totally uncalled for.”

“Innocent ears my ass.” He mumbled. “And not really. It can be a very apt description for you two at times.” The alpha huffed as he swiveled on his feet. “Petey,” he called down the hall. “We have some pests here. I mean guests. Come socialize. I don’t think I can manage it all on my own.”

“You’re such a freaking drama queen.” Stiles concurred as he reached towards the kitten to finally caress his fur.

“Well, it has worked for me so far but I guess I should be nicer to Derek after all, “he winked at the other alpha. That was probably true if he expected to try to get in Derek’s pants at all during the wedding. Calling him dumb and a pest would probably not get him very far in that endeavor.

Yet, it all seemed lost on Derek since the alpha didn’t react or say anything. Or he was just choosing to ignore the other alpha and his musings. His friend instead mimicked Stiles and began petting the feline. Cheddar arched his back into the touches until Jackson made his way towards the kitchen which caught the kitty’s attention. He quickly followed his owner probably in hopes of scoring something to eat.

With the feline now rejecting them, both Stiles and Derek stood up from the floor as Peter made an appearance from his bedroom. “Aw, my favorite nephew and Bambi.”

“I’m your only nephew.” Derek spat out.

“Semantics dear boy.” Peter smirked as he looked upon his visitors. “What brings you two here?”

Before Stiles had a chance to answer, Derek was interjecting his two cents. “Stiles wanted to steal the cat. He brought me along as an involuntary coconspirator. Yet, I was curious to see this kitten since he has talked it up so much.”

“Man,” Stiles turned to his traitorous friend and flung his hand at his bicep once more which again did nothing to phase the other. “You really make a lousy accomplice. And I can’t help it, Peter. He’s so darn cute. I cannot resist his adorableness.”

‘I’m cute too but never eliicit this much excitement.” Peter oozed out around the smirk he continued to wear.

Derek looked nauseated as Jackson groaned from the kitchen. “Yeah well, Cheddar is definitely cuddlier.” Which was true since Peter doesn’t seem to know the definition of cuddling after sex. Yeah, he is trying to get past that endeavor and move on. Yet, it’s hard not to be somewhat sour about the alpha running off like a bat out of hell afterwards. He hadn’t expected much knowing how Peter is but he still thought he would have stayed for a little while. He believed Stiles meant enough to him for a little courtesy. Okay, he may not be over it as much as he likes to believe but he will try to keep pushing past it to maintain friendship with the alpha.

Peter paled a little at the dig and seemingly lost his words. Yet the silence that loomed didn’t last long because Jackson… Jackson being Jackson. “Okay you dolts. You’re bringing the vibe down. Either go back to your annoying playful banter or there’s the door.” He pointed at said door. “Yet, I’m still horny. Derek can stay if he wants to play with my dick. I’m feeling rather negotiable right now.”

“Um,” was all Derek could muster at the suggestion. “Stiles, maybe we should take off? Didn’t you say you were having dinner with your dad tonight?”

Shit, that was right. He’s supposed to be eating with this dad. “Yes, I forgot. I do need to get going. It’s been super weird so like we’ll talk to you guys later.”

And with that, Derek and Stiles left with Peter promising to text later and Jackson winking proactively at Derek as the man once more either ignored the gesture or was utterly clueless. It could either way at this point with Derek at this point.

“This actually tastes really good,” Stiles practically groaned around the chicken parmigiana. It had been a recipe he found online and he was a little worried about it turning out the way the picture showed. Yet somehow, he did follow the directions carefully and the food came out very well. “Will have to add this to our repertoire.” Their recipes were rot broad and they ate a lot of the same meals so it would be nice to add this dish into their rotation.

His dad nodded as he swallowed. Grabbing his napkin, he wiped off some marinara sauce from the right corner of his mouth. “Yes, it is really good. Thanks for cooking. It was a long day at work. Some difficult cases so it’s nice coming home to a nice home cooked dinner.” His dad grabbed his glass of water and reclined back in his chair, apprising Stiles for a moment. “How about you? What was your day like?”

He effortlessly changed the subject. His dad didn’t always like talking about work. Sometimes he felt he shouldn’t share details of cases he was working on. Other times, he didn’t want Stiles to hear about certain things – preferred to keep him shielded as much as possible. And there were times he would bring up certain things and then Stiles would try to play detective and ask twenty questions. So the good sheriff mostly keeps work topics off the table so to speak.

Looking back at his dad who wore dark circles under his eyes and appeared exhausted, Stiles smiled back at the hardworking man. He would try to keep things brief so the beta didn’t fall over in exhaustion into the rest of his dinner. “Good. Didn’t do much. Took Derek to meet Jackson’s new kitten. Did you know he got a cat?”

“No, well you might have mentioned it.” Taking a long swallow of water, the older man put the glass back on the table and reached over for some spaghetti. After taking a bite, he spoke once more. “Derek huh? You know he’s a really nice alpha. Smart and loyal. You’ve known him a while. He could be a really good alpha for you.”

Stiles eyes widened as his dad spoke. It wasn’t the first time and he was sure it would not be the last time he has tried to get Stiles to date an alpha. He’s just grateful that he’s not overly pushy on the subject. “Dad!” He yelped out. “It’s Derek. I mean yes objectively yes to all that and I am not blind to his good looks especially when he rocks his glasses but no. We’re like brothers so nope. It’s not going to happen. Sorry to burst your bubble but hey since you think so highly of him; If things don’t work out with you and Mr. Argent, maybe you can ask Derek out.”

Clanking his fork on this plate, the sheriff leveled Stiles a look. “Sorry to burst yours but nothing is going on between me and Chris.” Stiles wasn’t so sure. He was positive there was something happening between the two of them. And if not now, he just had a suspicion, something for sure would be at a later time. “And seriously Stiles? Derek? He’s like half my age.”

“Yeah well, you were hyping him up so much. But Jackson is going after him so it’s all moot anyway.”

His dad nodded his head in agreement and thankfully dropped the subject of Derek but he wasn’t completely done with Stiles love life or lack thereof. “Just worry about you sometimes kiddo. Sometimes I wish you would find a nice strong alpha to protect you so I wouldn’t have to worry so much. I know it’s old fashioned but the old man would feel better.”

He understood where his dad was coming from to a degree. He knew his dad being a beta occasionally thought he could never give everything that Stiles truly needed. He especially worried due to his line of work that if something happened to him, there would be no alpha around to help Stiles pick up the pieces.

Stiles tended to disagree and it for sure led to some arguments in the past. But he also realized due to his omega nature, there were some things he could not dissuade away. His biology would tend to tell him something different than his stubborn brain.

Did he think he needed a big stupid alpha around to protect him so to speak? Not really. Did he feel the need and crave one to do so? Well, that was a completely different story.

So, when it came to his dad’s opinions on such things, Stiles long ago just went with the flow. It was easier and as hard as it was to admit, not altogether baseless or untrue. Plus, his dad mostly just stated what he thought and never ever pushed anything. It was more a dad just being a dad worried about his son.

“I know dad. You worry too much.” Sties pushed the last of his noodles into the sauce that pooled at the bottom of the plate. “I mean thanks for worrying but it’s fine. I’m fine. Plus, I have like the three best alphas in the world in my circle who always have my back. Well two anyway. Jackson maybe a day-to-day kind of thing.” Yes, he would be more of a wild card. Maybe more like fifty-fifty at best.

“Well, that’s true but even with Peter. You two go from being tied to the hip to him sending you gifts because he pissed you off. It can be exhausting trying to figure where you guys are at.”

Stiles waved his fork at his dad. “Yes, yes but that’s what we do. No matter what, at the end of the day, we’ll still be friend’s dad. Peter will always be there for me. Besides we pinky promised when I was like eight.”

Chuckling, his dad shook his head. “A pinky promise from twelve years ago? Good to know that’s still intact.” Sliding back his chair, his dad sighed. “I think I need a shower and good night’s rest.” He rose up stiffly from his chair. “But yes, it does make me feel better that you are surrounded with so many good alphas in your life. Jackson included.”

Stiles smiled up at his dad. “Cool. Now go to bed. I’ll clean up.” His dad looked guiltily over the table of dirty dishes. They would usually take turns – one cooks and the other cleans. “Dad, you look like you’re about to fall over. I got this. Please go get some rest.”

“Okay son. Thanks. I love you.”

“I love you too Pops.”

After Stiles cleaned up and got ready for bed, he pulled down the covers on his mattress and climbed into bed. Plopping up his pillows, he leaned back and grabbed his phone.

Almost on auto pilot, he scrolled to Peter’s contact info to message him. It’s just what they did. They converse all the time. If they don’t have a lot of time to chat, they at least check in with another or send a meme.

[Bambi] Had a good dinner with my dad. Full of food and now sleepy

[Hale of an Alpha] Then you should be going to sleep and not texting me

Yeah probably but again, it’s just something they do. Gosh, sometimes he doesn’t like how he craves that need of reaching out and connecting with Peter in some sort of fashion like all the time.

Closing his eyes briefly, he sighed out in contentment as he sank further into his bed.

[Bambi] Yeah well, guess wanted to say good night and say your nephew is being incredibly dense when it comes to Jackson

[Hale of an Alpha] Derek is very smart academically but he does tend not to be the sharpest tack in the shed when it comes to other things. It will be entertaining to watch things play out anyway.

Of course, Peter would find it fun to watch those two dance around one another. Actually, he may be onto something.

[Bambi] You may have a point. I could get behind watching those doofus’ being dumb.

[Hale of an Alpha] I’ll invite Derek over one evening, pop some popcorn, and we can sit back and take in the show

It wasn’t the worst idea he ever had. Was it stupid? Probably. Would it be fun? Absolutely. Plus, added bonus, he could see Cheddar. It was a win in Stiles book.

[Bambi] Yeah okay. Sign me up. Now though, it’s time for sleep.

[Hale of an Alpha] Sweet dreams Bambi.

[Hale of an Alpha] Night Hale

Stiles put his phone down on the side table and scooched down under his covers.

Closing his eyes, he wondered if a certain alpha would invade his dreams again like he did the other night.

Chapter Text

Peter stared at the large trellis that had ivy winding through the crevices, almost smothering the white of the wood to make it look greener. It also had fairy lights intermingled through the slats - probably a newer addition with the wedding happening in just a few weeks.

‘Looks nice, right Uncle Peter?” The soft, sweet voice asked from behind him as his eyes scanned the backdrop of trees behind the trellis. It was indeed pretty. A very lovely setting.

“It is very pretty.” Peter responded as he turned to face his niece. Her smile matched her beauty. She and Derek could almost be twins with their stark dark hair, nice jaw line, and marching hazel eyes. Yet, Derek has at least a foot on his older sister. “However, I’m sure the bride will be more stunning.”

The compliment caused her lips to curve upward into a beautiful smile which complemented her look today. She had part of her hair pulled back which allowed some of it to be tied up and the rest falling to her shoulders. She adorned a breezy sleeveless sundress that was black and covered with sunflowers. In addition, she was wearing some strappy black sandals that sunk into the grassy area. ‘Thanks,” she blushed. “Are you trying to kiss up to the bride?”

“No but perhaps your mother. She’s still harping on me. I think it’s her favorite pastime. She’s been trying to set me up with some of her beta friends and she’s not been taking the hint very well every time I say no thank you.”

The beta giggled, “That really doesn’t surprise me. Why do you think I’m getting married? She can now focus more of her nagging on you and Derek. Well, at least I hope she does after the wedding is done. I certainly didn’t think she would be the bridezilla.”

He could see that, hence why he’s hasn’t been coming around a whole lot. But today both Talia and Laura had begged him to stop by the house since they needed some strong hands with wedding stuff. He tried to finagle his way out of it, offering up Derek’s younger muscles once more but caved when Laura mentioned she hadn’t spent much time with her uncle lately. He couldn’t deny her so here he was – standing in Talia’s backyard hoping to have some calm before she nags him to an early grave.

“She does love having everything perfect and plans it all out to a perfect T.”

The younger beta nodded as she turned her head to gaze around them. “True but the backyard is beautiful and we’re saving tons of money so it is worth it.” She grinned, “well mostly anyway.”

“It will be a wonderful wedding.” He clapped his hands together and then outstretched his arms. “What do you need me to do?”

“There are some large boxes in the attic that need to be retrieved that mom states that may have some decorations and things we can use.” Peter started walking to the house as Laura stepped beside him. “So um, any word on any date you’re bringing?”

Peter paused with a cocked brow. “Did your mother put you up to this?”

“No, please.” She waved he hand. “I’m just being curious. I know she really wants you to bring someone and I was mostly just wondering if there was anyone.”

“’m sort of working on something. I thought about bringing someone random or even paying for an escort but I didn’t think you would appreciate it.” And honestly, Peter doesn’t really want to do that either. He just doesn’t want to just bring anyone. Maybe when he was younger, he would of but now … yeah, he would prefer someone he can hold a conversation with and to be with someone he knows.

Laura glanced up at him appreciatively. “Thanks. I would prefer that you didn’t bring just anyone off the streets. Just so you know, I don’t care if you have a date or not. Just want you to be happy. And just maybe, you’ll meet someone interesting at the wedding.”

He doubted that but maybe. Anything was possible he supposes. He assumes one day his star will collide with another but until then, he’ll not force anything.

Once Peter retrieved the large boxes and brought them downstairs, Laura offered him up some lunch and made a pretty mean BLT. It may have been worth it coming to help to score a nice little meal from his niece. They chatted some more and as Peter finished off his pickle, Talia arrived carrying a brown tote in her hand that she immediately placed on the counter by the fridge.

“Hello Laura and baby brother.” She smiled broadly. “And how are you two today?” She asked very cheery as she approached Peter and placed a kiss on top of his head.

He quickly pushed her away. “Fine and I’m not five years old.”

“Well sometimes you still act like it.” She swiveled to go take the contents out of the bag. “You brought the boxes down okay?”

“Yes, they are in the living room.”

Laura leaned back in her chair, “not sure there will be much we can use but we can go through the items. But at another time. I have to get going soon. Got to drop by the florist.”

“Sure, just let me know when will be a good time.” His sister grinned while she placed a few of her food purchases into the pantry. “Oh Peter, I ran into Amanda. She wanted me to pass her number onto you.”

And here she goes. Peter knew he would not be able to leave being unscathed. “Tal, I told you. Not interested.”

“it’s not my fault. She was asking about my hot alpha brother and whether he was seeing anyone. I couldn’t lie.” She sighed out attempting to look fondly over to him. “Maybe you could at least talk to her. She’s smart and lovely. And not to mention some amazing cleavage.”

“Is that bar we’re going for now? If someone has a nice rack or not?”

She shrugged her shoulders as Laura scrunched her face, “ew mother. Can we not? And besides Uncle Peter is more than about looks.”

“Thank you, dear niece. You’re mine favorite now.”

The beta grinned cheekily. “Pretty sure I’m your favorite most of the time.”

She wasn’t completely wrong. “True. Your brother likes to be a pain and a brat. Socializes with Stiles too much and I think Jackson has also rubbed off on him somewhat.”

“Now now baby brother. Don’t pit my children against one another. They are both equally amazing.” She placed her right hand on her waist and cocked her head. “At least think about calling her. It won’t kill you and you never know, you two may hit it off.”

Highly unlikely on both counts, He was tired so didn’t feel like rocking the boat any longer so he bit his tongue and gave his sister a half assed smile. “I’ll think about it.” Sometimes it was just easier to keep the peace with her.

“Wonderful. You’ll see how how great you two can potentially be together and then I expect to be the first one invited to the wedding.”

He just may jump off a cliff before that happens.

Once Laura started to leave to go the florist, Peter used that timing to make haste as well. He didn’t feel like being alone with his sister and her relentless nagging about his singlehood. Yet, she had mostly dropped it once Peter said he would think about calling her friend.

He knows it will probably come back and bite him one day since he’s sure that friend will tattle on him and tell Talia he never called her. He would need a nice excuse for that one. But that was a future Peter problem.

Pondering the annoying conversation as he drove back toward his apartment; he was looking for distraction. And then a light bulb went off. He immediately spoke to his digital dash and asked it call Stiles or Bambi as he has the omega stored in his contact list.

It didn’t take long for the call to connect and for Stiles to answer. “Hey Peter. What’s up? I’m studying right now.”

“Are you really though? I think we both know procrastination is your middle name.”

“That’s rather rude and hurtful. And yes I am,” he scoffed. “I have my biology work up on my; laptop. I may or may not have an episode of Dance Mom’s playing on my phone.”

Snickering, Peter idled at a stop light waiting to make a left turn. “I spent some time with Laura today. Wedding planning is still going well. I also had to spend time with Talia as well.”

“My condolences.” The omega sighed out.

He wasn’t totally off base with that response. “Thank you. So, she’s trying to set me up with one of her beta friends to take to the wedding. Still looking for an easy out so…”

Peter wasn’t even able to finish his sentence before Stiles barreled in with a response. “Well, too bad for you. Told you I am already going with someone.”

Cursing under his breath, Peter eyed his apartment nearing. The boy was infuriating. He still didn’t know if he truly was going with someone or just giving Peter a hard time. It may be well deserved but he was still frustrated all the same. “Right. Well, if it doesn’t work out, maybe we can?” He asked in a somewhat hopeful tone.

“Hale! Seriously? I would rather go with a venomous snake.”

Pulling into a slot near the entrance to his place, Peter unbuckled his seatbelt. “Really? A venomous snake huh? That’s a little unkind. I thought we were back on status quo Bambi.”

“We are mostly. But you were still a dick and actions have consequences so now you have to suffer with a nagging sister and me standing my ground.”

Well, those consequences kind of suck if he was being honest. “Could I have a different ramification? Like I will do your laundry for a month or something.” That seemed like that could be a fair compromise. Who likes doing laundry? He’s sure that could be helpful.

“Oh my god Hale, You can’t pick your own. What planet are you on?”

“I thought it was obvious. I’m on the Peter Hale planet.”

“Of course, you think the world revolves around you.” Sighing out once more, Stiles evened his tone. “Peter, you know I love our friendship. You mean a lot to me. It’s just it smarted a little. I got to stick to my guns on this.”

The way he presented it, it made sense. It sucked but he understood. He never wanted to hurt Stiles in anyway and he did. He had hoped they were past it but evidently, they were not there completely. Better for sure. And he can see why Stiles has to draw a line and stand behind it. He has to not only show Peter but prove to himself that he won’t back down – that he will stick up for himself and not take being somewhat hurt sitting down.

“You are right. I shouldn’t keep pressuring you on the matter. I’m sorry. I just hope whoever this alpha is taking you is a standup guy.” Or he might have to hurt that alpha. Truthfully, he might just enjoy it a little too much as well.

“Thank you Hale. I do appreciate it and just stop letting her get under your skin. You’re a strong alpha that doesn’t usually let shit bother him so forget about what she wants. You do you.”

Stiles was right. He is a strong alpha – can be a selfish one too. He’s bold and determined. There really shouldn’t be any reason for Tal to affect him this way but God, does she ever. “You make a valid point. I need to brush her off and just show up stag.” Just like Stiles, he needs to prove himself too and he was going to damn it. “Yet if that alpha that is taking you is not much of conversationalist, you can seek me out.”

Some laughter echoed from the other line. “Yes, I’m sure there will be moments I will want to hang out. After all, we have to talk shit about others and commiserate about Jackson and Derek.”

“That we do.” Peter smiled knowing that even if they were not attending with one another, that they will still be able to hang out some. “Well, I just go home. Probably should could check out what my annoying roommate is up to.”

“Give Cheddar a kiss for me and tell Jackson I like him so much better now that he has an adorable kitty.”

Peter shook his head. Stiles was really into the feline. “I’m sure he will be glad to know that. Get some homework done and don’t get too distracted with other things.”

“Yes alpha.”

Peter swallowed deeply as the words tumbled from the omega’s mouth. The moniker when said went straight to his cock. Stiles has called him alpha previously but it’s not common – more when he’s in a bratty mood. More like when an ornery child snaps back at a parent.

He doesn’t say it to say it. Except Peter does recollect when Stiles for sure let the name escape from his lips when he was in the throes of ecstasy. Peter wonders how much he remembers since he was almost rendered speechless and was babbling through most of their shared orgasms.

He might never know for sure but he knows right now, it for sure triggered a so called Pavolian response. If Peter was near the boy right now, it would be sure challenging to reign in any control. He would find it difficult to stay on this side of the friend line.

“Okay then,” Peter managed to find his voice. “We’ll talk later.” He quickly stated and hit the disconnect button before Stiles could say anything else.

Plopping his head back on the head rest, Peter exhaled. “Fuck,” he murmured under his breath as he reached with his palm to press on his hardened dick in hopes it would go down. “Well, that was not expected.”

Yet, he really shouldn’t be surprised either. They may be keeping to being friends but there was no denying the boy does tend to rile the alpha up.

It’s just going to be harder to not cross that line once more if the omega calls him alpha again.

Ugh these boys - they will figure it out some day.

Chapter Text

Stiles sighed out in exasperation as he leaned back into the pillowy sofa. He would much rather take a nap then do school work. He glanced over the top of his laptop to look over towards Derek who as usual was engrossed in his own studies.

The omega stupidly thought if he came over to Derek’s place and saw him being studious, it would rub off on Stiles but it hadn’t. It wasn’t helping at all.

Grabbing one of his discarded notebooks, he ripped out a sheet of paper and balled it. He then tossed the paper ball across the room, targeting Derek to get his attention. He tried to aim low to not hit him on his sexy as fuck glasses that he seems to wear more and more these days. If Stiles didn’t see the alpha more like a brother, he might consider climbing him like a tree. But as it was, ew, no thank you.

The paper bounced off the alpha’s right knee gently and fell to the floor. The touch was enough to garner the other’s attention. His hazel eyes behind the red thin framed rims met his with a quizzical expression. “Really Stiles?”

“I’m bored. You are not paying attention to me.”

“Because we are supposed to be doing school work.” The alpha shifted in his chair as he looked over at Stiles with a fond expression.

Closing his laptop, Stiles leaned on the device with his elbows as his brain yearned to ponder his life. “High school was so much easier. I aced most of my classes with not having to put in a lot of extra time. College is so much…” he didn’t how to finish that other than more work he supposes.

“You’ll get used to it. Time management will help too. You’re smart Sti, you’ll figure it out. It maybe some trial and error but you’ll get there.”

He supposes that was accurate but right now, it is ugh and no thank you. “I guess. Either way, anything is better than trying to adult because I am so not ready for that either.” Why is it when you’re kid you can’t wait to grow up and then when you do; you long to be a kid again?

“It’s not so bad.” Derek states like he knows that to be a hundred percent true as he closes the text bock he had been reading. “How about we take a break and go get some ice cream?”

Ice cream? Now that is something Stiles can get behind. “Oh yes please.”

Derek took him to an ice cream shop that they visited frequently when they were kids which immediately brought back many fond memories. With the fun recollections and ice cream in hand, they strolled to nearby park to indulge in their sweet treat.

Finding a bench that overlooked a small creek, Stiles cooed happily at his cup of peanut butter cup ice cream. He craved a cone but they get too messy so he opted for a cup. Taking a spoonful of the snack, Stiles couldn’t help but moan around the bite. It was so yummy. “Thanks Der. This is heavenly.” He spoke around the sweetness as he gazed over towards the water. “Remember doing this as kids? It was so much fun.” Yep, not only would they indulge in the ice cream but most times they would come over to the park as they ate it and then sometimes play afterwards.

“Yeah. It was. Uncle Peter used to complain about taking us out but secretly, I think he enjoyed the ice cream way more than us.”

“I think you’re right. He made it sound like such a chore but then would get a double scoop each time.” Those were indeed some fond memories. Stiles would always look forward to the times he would spend with Derek. They always had a good time with one another. It didn’t matter if they were alpha and omega – they just enjoyed doing things together. Whether it was playing on a playground, watching movies, or having sleepovers. “And life was so much simpler then.”

Derek didn’t say anything as he licked his cookies and cream flavored ice cream. Somehow, he had mastered the art of not having the ice cream drip down onto his fingers. “It was. We didn’t have a care in the world other than when our next play date was going to be.”

“True. And now life gets more challenging and complicated as we get older. Sometimes I wouldn’t mind going back to a much more simpler and easier time.”

Stiles wouldn’t mind that either lots of times. It was hard having responsibilities and navigating life and certain people. “I agree. Like it was great when my the biggest contemplation of life was whether my favorite color was blue or green on any specific day. Now it is how do I act around Peter after sleeping with him? I want to stay friends but the infuriating alpha does not make that easy to do.”

“Wait, what the fuck?” Derek questioned as his whole body turned to face Stiles with a wide eyed expression. “You slept with my uncle?”

Oh, yeah. He never said anything to Derek and evidently neither has Peter. Well, the cat is out of the bag now. “Oops, yeah Der, we kind of did the deed. It just sort of happened and we’re pretending it didn’t so we can still be friends.” Stiles smiled and did a finger gun salute with his left hand, tying to act like it was no big deal.

His alpha bestie just stared at him, face expressionless. Stiles couldn’t read him – wasn’t sure if he was mad, confused, or maybe disappointed. “I …”, the alpha seemingly was lost for words. “I suppose it really doesn’t surprise me with the way you guys are. Explains why you both have been extra weird lately. And seriously, you didn’t tell me this? You like tell me everything.”

Stiles processed everything the other was saying as he swallowed the last of his ice cream. It was true. He did confide in Derek with most things. He hoped the alpha wasn’t too hurt that he didn’t fess up sooner. “Well… wasn’t sure how you would react and part of me didn’t really feel like sharing that I knocked boots with your uncle.” Stiles placed the now empty bowl next to him while he eyeballed his friend. “And what do you mean that it doesn’t surprise you?”

Derek leveled him a look like he was an idiot and valid, Stiles for sure can be one. “The way you two banter that turns into flirting. And you guys dance around each other a lot. It was inevitable that one day you guys would sleep together. I was just caught off guard when you blurted it out. So why are you being dumb about it?”

“We don’t flirt.” At least he doesn’t think so. They banter for sure and there is absolutely no dancing around one another or whatever Derek is implying. “ Ouch Der. And it’s your uncle’s fault.”

“Of course it is.” He gestured with his hand to encourage Stiles to explain.

Inhaling to take a calming breath, Stiles gazed at the alpha. “He started it and then when all was said and done, he just left. We had orgasms and he didn’t stay. I know the man and how he can be. I wasn’t expecting him to stay the night or anything but thought he would at least stick around for a while. You know enjoy the post coital bliss for a little bit. But nope, he scattered out of my place like there was a fire.”

Derek sighed emphatically. “God, he’s an idiot. Can I kick him in the balls now?”

So tempting, oh so very tempting.

Stiles twisted the door knob and opened up the door to the apartment. Stepping inside, he paused when his eyes landed on one Christopher Argent sitting on their polyester sofa; almost looking like he owned the piece of furniture and not out of place.

His legs were sprawled open like many alphas seem to do – either as an invitation of come here or just a show of dominance. The man was holding a beer bottle in his right hand as his light blue eyes shifted to Stiles as he entered the space – his eyes roaming over Stiles in more curiosity than anything.

The omega swallowed deeply as he took in the gray speckled beard and salt and pepper shorn hair. He could even make out the huge biceps hiding under his long sleeve button down shirt. Hot damn, if his dad wasn’t going to get dicked by the alpha, Stiles might need to volunteer. “Um hi.” He finally found his voice and hoped he didn’t sound too shaky under the man’s inquisitive gaze. “Didn’t know my dad was having company.”

The older man smiled very smoothly and it really did do some things to his cock. “It was a last-minute thing. We were working and still had a few things to wrap up. Your dad offered a beer and here we are.”

Right? They were working. Stiles wasn’t sure if he believed it and oh fuck, he hoped he just didn’t walk in on his dad’s plan of seducing the alpha. Maybe he should go. “Oh, okay. Um…” He looked behind himself at the door trying to come up with a good excuse to leave as soon as possible. He didn’t want to come between any seduction scenarios.

“Stiles,” his dad called out as he walked from the kitchen holding a tray of cheese and crackers. And seriously? Cheese and crackers? Oh his dad maybe trying since they don’t usually don’t serve that kind of stuff. “Thought you were studying with Derek?”

“We were. I was. You know how I get? Got distracted and then he basically kicked me out. I can go if you two are busy.” He gestured with his thumb towards the door. He certainly didn’t want to be known as a cock blocker. Nope, not at all.

“Don’t be ridiculous.” His dad stated as he placed the tray down on the coffee table. “We’re just finishing up some work and then going to decompress with a game or something. Probably order some dinner. Let me know what you might be hungry for.”

Stiles felt a little like he was intruding but both men were making him feel welcomed and perhaps he didn’t really interrupt anything. He wasn’t entirely convinced but whatever. If his dad wasn’t going to shoo him out then he will stay. It wasn’t like he had a ton of options to go elsewhere. “Sure, had some ice cream so not overly hungry but can let you know in a bit.”

“Great.” His dad smiled as he sat down in the easy chair adjacent to the sofa. He reached for a piece of cheese and laid it on top of a cracker. “Just don’t wait too long. Don’t want to eat too late.”

Stiles nodded as he took a few steps from the family area. “Sure, thing pops. I’ll let you two get back to work.” Or whatever the hell it is they were doing. “I still have some schoolwork to do myself.”

His dad waved him off as the older alpha chimed in, “don’t work yourself too hard.”

Stiles smiled as he began retreating towards his bedroom, “you too Mr. Argent.”

Well, that was a lame as fuck reply.

Barely closing his bedroom door, Stiles immediately fished his phone out from his pants pocket. He debated texting Peter but he knows the alpha can get fidgety about texting and really, Stiles was a little keyed up.

“Bambi?” The voice greeted after just a few rings.

Stiles plopped himself on his bed, the mattress groaning a little with the extra weight. “The DILF is in my apartment. I repeat the DILF is in my apartment.”

“I see. You seem very excited about that prospect. I thought the plan was to hook up your father with the man or has that changed? Are you trying to get into the alpha’s pants now?”

Well … he wasn’t totally opposed to the prospect. “I mean the man is hot for sure but no. Besides, Mr. Argent strikes me as the type of alpha who has morals and doesn’t like to stray too much. Meaning I highly doubt he would want to bed someone half his age.”

He won’t lie to himself either. Yes, the fantasy of being dicked down by a daddy type does have an appeal. He for sure believes he could even come up with some jerk off material regarding the older alpha as well. But in reality, that is mostly what it comes down to. The man is hot and intriguing, yet Stiles doesn’t ever really see that fantasy as becoming a reality. He is totally okay with that notion. It’s fun to think about. He and Mr. Argent would probably never meld anyway – just not enough in common with one another and yes, he much rather prefers his dad get with the alpha.

Peter hummed quietly on the other end. “I can see that with him. More of a straight and arrow type of guy. Like some of us don’t have as many morals and tend to hover over the gray areas.”

“Oh I know that Hale. You definitely like to straddle that line.” He has seen enough of the alpha to know what he is willing to do and not do – what rules he is willing to bend which are usually to his advantage. It’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s more of a for sure a Peter Hale thing. Sometimes he just doesn’t give a shit and likes to see what happens and what might stick.

“Oh, please Bambi. There were no complaints from you when I was balls deep inside of you. You like and enjoy the fact that I’m morally ambiguous.”

Well, he’s not wrong. Stiles does indeed like that about Peter and he admires that trait occasionally. “Well,” shit he was lost for words damn it because yes, he did indeed enjoy when the alpha was balls deep inside of him – carving out a piece just for him. It was out of this world but he was still an ass after. “You know we’re not talking about that but since you brought it up. I may have let the cat out of the bag with Derek.”

Peter didn’t seem too concerned by his quick response and laid-back tone, “I would have thought you would have mentioned it to my nephew by now.”

“I haven’t. I didn’t really want to shout it from the rooftops. And believe it or not, I don’t actually tell Der everything.” Granted, he’s a fairly open book when it comes to his alpha friend but there are some things he doesn’t share. He really believed getting boned by his uncle was something to keep guarded since he didn’t know how his friend would react. As it turns out it wasn’t bad but he still had some reservations before.

“I know you two are close so I just presumed you already told him. Makes sense though since he has not said anything to me and I’m sure he would have by now. Probably something about defending your honor or some shit like that.”

Laying down on his pillow, Stiles relaxed more into his bed. “True. He’s such a damn softy. I love him for that.” He could totally see Derek saying something to his uncle about how could he deflower Stiles or even think about being a jerk to him. He does indeed love the protectiveness of his dear friend. “So yeah, be forewarned, he may kick you in the nuts when he sees you. He maybe a little irritated with you.”

“Well thank you and ducky noted. I will be sure to wear a protective cup when I am in his vicinity.”

That was probably a good idea. “You should totally do that.” Stiles adjusted himself on his bed and exhaled. “Ugh I should do schoolwork but I might need to encourage my dad and Mr. Argent to move things along.”

“Don’t meddle Stiles. Let things play out as they should.”

Well, that’s no fun at all. “But if I don’t stick my nose into it. The outcome might not be how I like.”

“And you’ll have to live with it if it doesn’t. Listen, how about a distraction? Tomorrow evening, you come over. Spend time with Cheddar and we can watch a movie. Your choice.”

That’s something Stiles can’t really pass on. Movie and a kitten? With the bonus of just hanging with Peter. “Yeah okay. That does sound like fun.”

“Wonderful. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Yes, he will but just maybe in the meantime he’ll find a way to gently nudge the two gentlemen In the other room. Peter doesn’t have to know.

Notes:

I had fun with this chapter.

Derek can certainly spot things between his own uncle and friend but sure can't see what's right in front of him.

Chapter Text

Peter peered into the oven just ensure everything was cooking just fine. So far so good. In a few minutes, he would place some garlic bread in there as well and mix the salad ingredients he purchased. It will be a lovely meal that was already smelling delicious.

Smiling, he stepped away from the oven and started pulling out the salad items from the refrigerator. “I thought your little fawn was coming over.” The voice echoed behind him, slightly startling him. The other alpha does have a way of being a ninja sometimes.

Sighing, Peter swiveled to turn to face his annoying friend. “He is.” Peter stated succinctly as he placed the lettuce and tomatoes down on the counter. “I’m making some dinner. I assume he’ll be hungry.” Stiles is always hungry so not a stretch that he might want to be fed when he comes over.

The alpha scrunched up his nose. “Don’t you guys usually order In? And what exactly are you cooking? It smells amazing.” He could see the other practically salivating through his quizzical expression.

Peter shrugged his shoulders. “I cook occasionally for us.” But truth be told, they usually do take out. It wasn’t exactly unusual for Peter to cook them dinner but it also wasn’t super often either. “And I was in a lasagna kind of mood.”

“Jesus Christ on a pogo stick!” The other shrieked out. “You’re making your friend lasagna? Are you trying to get in his pants again?”

Peter reached for the cutting board so he could start slicing the tomato. He really wanted to ignore the question but he knows Jackson too well. He won’t stop annoying him otherwise. He will keep pestering Peter until he gives in and gives him some kind of response. “No. Friends make friends lasagna. It doesn’t have to equate to sex.”

“I don’t think so. You’re trying to seduce him through cooking.” He waved his hand towards Peter,” and you thought my red lingerie was a bad idea. And is my cat a part of your nefarious seduction plan?”

Peter hovered the knife over the tomato and took a calming breath. “That is not what I’m doing. He wants us to stay friends and I am honoring his wishes.” As difficult as it may be – Peter will not ruin what he has with the omega. However, it does not mean he can’t be overly nice with making him a delicious dinner and offering up a night of kitty playtime. He never said he was a saint. If it helps sway Stiles in some way, Peter won’t squander the opportunity.

“Okay. I’m not sure if I believe that or if you even believe that. But if my kitten is involved, I expect a piece of that lasagna for payment. Hell, I might want a front row seat too. Maybe I’ll just hang with you guys this evening.”

Peter rolled his eyes and began cutting the rest of the tomato with more vigor. “You’re an insufferable brat.”

“Takes one to know one. I’m going to see my little fur baby is awake. Gotta be ready for the show tonight.”

Sometimes he hates his life.

Stiles showed up about fifteen minutes later with a smile at the door. “What smells so good?” The omega asked as he stepped inside the apartment.

“I decided to make lasagna.”

The smile grew as his eyes widened. “Seriously? Wow okay. And like I only brought some Oreos.” The boy handed Peter the package of double stuffed cookies “We can eat them later.”

“Yes, perhaps a snack during the movie.” He placed the cookies on the coffee table. “I’m afraid Jackson is being more frustrating than usual. He’s probably joining us for dinner and possibly the movie.”

“He’s totally negotiating with the kitten, isn’t he?” The omega asked as he began to stroll towards the kitchen, nostrils flaring as he took in the meat sauce fragrance.

Peter followed since it was about time to pull everything out of the oven. He had already set the table so most things were more or less ready to go. “Yes, he does seem to be playing hardball with Cheddar.”

“Totally savage. Yet If I had the cutest kitten in the universe, I might wield some negotiations myself. I mean a nice dinner in exchange for some unfettered kitten playtime. Yep, I could so see myself doing that too. “

“Well,” Peter paused as he grabbed for the pot holders and opened the oven. With the blast of heat blasting out, he stood to the side for a moment before reaching in to grab the lasagna and then the garlic bread. Once each one was placed on a cooling rack, he finished his thought. “Perhaps you would but I’m sure you wouldn’t be as infuriating as him.” No, he is sure Stiles would be way more pleasant and not as cocky as hell about it.

Hearing the fridge open, Stiles hummed under his breath. “True. I’m too adorable to be infuriating. Yay, you still have Coke.” The omega turned around and popped open the soda can with a smile. “Smells delish. Ready to eat Alpha Hale?”

Well, he was until he heard the word alpha escape from the boy’s mouth. Now his dick wants to show some interest and say the hell with dinner. “Yes, I’ll cut this up if you want to call for Jackson.” Plus, that will give him a moment to calm any twitches his cock yearned to showcase.

Luckily, that tactic worked and he was able to calm himself down. Which gladly meant there was no way to have any awkward embarrassment because he just knew somehow Jackson would notice his bulge. And then undoubtedly call him out on it.

Either way he was grateful when the three of them sat down at the circular table. And even more so when the atmosphere surrounding them was almost verging on pleasant. Peter had a feeling that Jackson was going to be unbearable but he minded his p’s and q’s and the three of them enjoyed the free-flowing conversation. And of the course the food (he may have had to turn his head at least once when Stiles began moaning around his bites of lasagna. Maybe Jackson had a point – perhaps Peter was seducing the boy with food but it was not on purpose. Mostly).

Not surprising, the dang kitten was there nipping at their ankles and was causing some distraction. It helped in some ways to divert Peter’s attention from Stiles’s moaning. Yet, he also did try to ignore the little critter a little to not engage with it too much but the other two – yes, the feline had them wrapped around his little tiny paw. Placing his fork down, now that the other alpha was done eating, Peter cocked his right brow at Jackson. “I’m fairly sure cheese is not the best for him to eat.”

Jackson was placing his plate on the floor and sighed loudly at Peter. “It’s just a little and besides he’s hard to resist. I can’t say no to that cute face.”

“And, his name is Cheddar.” Stiles piped in agreement. “You cannot deny him cheese when his name is literally cheese.”

“I’m not cleaning up the barf later.” Nope. Not Peter’s idea to get a cat or feed it dairy. That is solely on Jackson and he can deal with the consequences of such actions.

Sliding his chair across the tile, Jackson rose with a gruff. “Petey, you need to lighten up.” His eyes drifted between Peter and Stiles. “I’ll help clean up but then calling it a night. I thought you two idiots were going to be a little more entertaining this evening.”

“Oh please Jackson I’m always entertaining,” Peter scuffed as he slid his own chair back and began collecting the dirty dishes. He’s not sure what the alpha was expecting. Maybe more bantering or some flirting? To Peter, it was fine. They all chatted and seemingly had a good time. Or perhaps Jackson was hoping he could have had an opportunity to tease Peter. Yep, that was probably a good assumption.

“I am too,” Stiles peeped. “I mean sometimes I am. I think.”

Jackson snickered as he looked over at the omega. “Oh yes little fawn you can be especially when you’re around this dolt.”

“You know if you keep disparaging me, I won’t feed you anymore no matter how pretty you think you are when you pout.” Peter insisted while he strolled over to the kitchen and placed some of the dirty dishes into the kitchen sink.

"Oh please, have you seen this handsome face? You and everyone else literally can’t say no.”

Oh, he was beginning to be insufferable again. He can say no to the other alpha and has. Maybe yes does outweigh more than no but he can go suck it. It’s nothing to do with his pretty face. It’s more that he annoys him to death and he caves in. “We’ll have to agree to disagree on that one.”

“Yes, I second that. I can say no to you.” The omega concurred. “Mostly anyway since I tend to be a people pleaser.”

“Play nice you two or Cheddar might not want to hang out.”

Stiles whined, “ooh, you play so dirty Jackson. Fine, you have a pretty face that is hard to say no to. Happy?”

Peter chuckled and looked over at the other two. Stiles really wanted kitten time but his tone was definitely more on the sarcastic side than sincere. Jackson knew it too. The alpha crossed his arms over his chest with an arch to his left brow. “Yeah not sure how much you mean that but I do like you little fawn so I’ll be generous tonight. Just don’t say anything crude in front of his little naïve triangle ears.”

“Yes yes fine. I just want to cuddle with him and pet him.”

In which about ten minutes later there was an omega curled up on the sofa with an orange ball of fur on his lap. He was lazily running his fingers through the feline’s fur.

Peter sat down next to them, as he reached for the remote. “Jackson was a hard bargainer this evening but hey, I am getting some Cheddar time so I think it was worth it.”

Was true on all counts. Tuning on the TV, Peter settled back into cushions. “What are you in the mood for tonight?” They tend to watch a lot of genres. The only ones they usually veto are westerns but otherwise, they will check out most things even if they are not sure they will like the movie.

“That’s easy La La Land.” The boy said It without hesitation.

Peter side eyed him. “We’ve watched that movie life ten times.”

“No,” he insisted. “More like three. And come on. There is singing and dancing. There’s Ryan Gosling Great acting. Great plot. And did I mention Ryan Gosling?”

Peter continued to eye ball the younger man as he petted the cat and he rambled on about the cinematic prowess of Ryan Gosling and his amazing looks. Then he somehow morphed the conversation into his other favorite Ryan which led to the cinematic feats on one Ryan Reynolds.

Once he stopped to take a breath, Peter used that to bring him back to the task at hand. “As much as I enjoyed hearing all the movies the Ryan’s have filmed and how they rank, are you ready to start the movie?”

Stiles flung his hand towards the TV. “Yeah for sure but are you going to grumble that it wasn’t that long ago that we watched it?”

Peter narrowed his eyes because as much as he realized that they have watched La La Land several times, he didn’t recollect that it was recent. Scrolling through the menu searching for the film, Stiles leaned over in his space. “Remember you had to purchase it since it wasn’t streaming anywhere.”

Oh that was right, the boy finagled him into buying the movie. And oh, now it was coming back to him. Since he bought it on his account, he had to sign into his profile that last time they watched it since he was at Stiles place. And the last time they watched it was indeed the night they took things to the bedroom.

Cuing up the film, Peter glanced over at Stiles. “Um, are you sure you want to watch this?” He wasn’t necessarily against seeing the film again now since his memory was coming back nice and clear now. It was for sure a memorable evening and he wouldn’t be opposed if it did lead to other things but he was fairly sure that Stiles did not.

“Yep. We didn’t get to re-watch the whole thing. I want to see it from start to finish.” The omega was still encroaching into Peter’s space, now more leaning into his arm. “Will that be okay for you? Or is it weird?”

He wasn’t really sure how to answer that. It was kind of both he supposes. It certainly does bring up a memorable evening but he also doesn’t always want to associate the film with their night of passion either. It was a one and done thing so he needs to just try not to harp on it.

The good news since Jackson was literally just down the hall, he would be a mood killer and quell any sexual thoughts that may try to permeate his brain. As much as it would be fun to annoy the hell out of his alpha friend by being loud during a sex fueled evening. He also has a suspicion he would be a total boner killer.

“it’s fine. You make a good point. We should for sure watch it so we can see it through to the end.”

Yet as much as he tries to convince himself, he thinks it might be a little challenging to watch the movie with Stiles again now that he remembers the last time.

He is fairly sure when Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling started their tap dancing is when things progressed – when Stiles climbed on Peter’s lap and they began making out.

So perhaps this evening, Peter himself should tap out so to speak when that scene arrives. He could just excuse himself to the bathroom just in case.

Better to be safe than sorry.

Chapter 12

Chapter Text

Stiles took a deep breath before answering the door. He was both looking forward and not so much looking forward to this afternoon’s events.

He was excited to go to the wedding of Jordan and Laura because hell it’s a wedding and they are adorable as fuck. But he also realized it could be potentially a cluster fuck. He was sort of going with Jackson to annoy Peter which could either be super enjoyable or cause the alpha to be really pissed. Yes, he wants to annoy the older man and make him stew but he doesn’t want to totally make him miserable during his niece’s wedding – basically he’s teetering on a precious line so to speak.

But at this point, he was already too far in and couldn’t back out that easily. His dad had already left to go pick up Mr. Argent and now Jackson was on the other side of the door. Yes, he probably could send the alpha away but then he would be super agitated and after all, Stiles did ask him for the favor so it would be rude to not accompany him at this point. And really, it never hurts to have an alpha nearby even one that can be frustrating like Jackson.

“Hey Jackson,” Stiles greeted with as much enthusiasm as he could when he finally opened the door. The alpha stood there in his stupidly dapper tailored gray suit accompanied with a dark purple tie. His hair of course perfectly coiffed and he assumed his black loafers were recently shined. He wasn’t surprised he was dressed to the nines. Peter, he assumed was too and the two of them probably compared notes as they dressed. And perhaps threw some selfies in to boot.

“Little fawn,” the alpha reciprocated as his eyes roamed up and down Stiles with a half smirk. “You clean up pretty well.”

He wanted to take it as a compliment yet the look and tone were sort of predatory. “Thank you. I know how to dress up if I have to and I’m still not sleeping with you.”

Standing up straighter, the other shook his head. “Somewhat of a pity and I still think you owe me for this.” He gestured between the two of them. “Yet again, I’m just saying a blow job would suffice. I could feel how your mouth is around my huge cock and,” he grinned widely as he waved his hand up and down his own body. “You would be so lucky to be on your knees for someone who looks like this and is incredibly endowed. It really is a win if you think about it.”

He didn’t have to think about it. At all. “You’re so fucking cocky and no.”

“Whatever little fawn. Your loss. Let’s go then. I don’t want to be late. I want to scope out people, food, Derek’s ass, and annoy Petey. It’s going be an amazing day.”

Stiles wasn’t so sure if he totally agreed with that sentiment.

Pulling up to the Hale house was always awe inspiring. The place was a mansion with columns that lined the huge wrap around porch. There was a big fountain out front that was encircled by a driveway. Basically, what dreams were made of. And then inside was not much different with like six bedrooms, seven baths, and a monster of a chef’s kitchen.

It was kind of pretentious as fuck and Stiles didn’t know why Talia still resided there when almost everyone had moved out by now. Yet, he still couldn’t help be enamored by the scope and beauty of the place.

By the time they arrived, the drive was mostly taken up by catering vans, some flower trucks and he assumed close family member cars. Jackson had to park over to the right side in a gravel area but it was fine since the area was meant for any overflow parking. Talia always and still hosts events so the front has plenty of space to park.

“I guess there’s going to be a lot of people here.” Stiles concurred as he got out of the vehicle and scoured the area. He was always on the fence about crowds. Sometimes he enjoyed being around a lot of people and socializing and other times he preferred to be curled up with a good book under the covers in his bed.

Today, he was excited about the wedding itself but he also kind of wanted to not be here too. He was afraid it might be a tad overwhelming. Alphas can be fickle so he never knows how one will act towards him in a bigger crowd and it’s a not a normal environment. He assumes most will be on their best behavior due to the event but he also realizes he probably shouldn’t let his guard down either.

“Good. More for a backup for me. Now I can have Plan B, C, D, and so on.” The alpha smoothed the few wrinkles with his palms on his pants that he received on the drive over. “Okay little fawn,” he held out his right arm in a rather gentlemanly fashion. “Let’s do this. And first things first, we should see if we can spot Petey.”

Jackson surprisingly continued to be a gentleman as they made their way to the backyard where all the festivities were going to take place. The alpha guided Stiles with his hand on the small of his back, once their linked arms disconnected- he assisted with weaving around both guests and caterers in a quick fashion.

As they approached the back, Stiles noted a huge tent set with tables and chairs underneath off to the right side. It was hard to tell from his angle but he could barely make out the DJ and dance floor that were set up underneath as well.

His eyes scanned left and he noted all the white linen covered chairs, each with a large lilac bow tied behind them. They were lined up on each side of a white and lavender runner that led to a fairy light covered trellis. The scene was both quaint and beautiful.

“It’s so nice. I could almost see having a wedding like this.” Stiles cooed out delight.

“Not me. I think eloping to Vegas sounds good.”

Stiles cocked his head in bewilderment towards the alpha, “really? You strike me as someone who would want all the pomp and circumstance.”

“It’s dicey. I would look astonishing in a tuxedo and would love to have a day dedicated to fawning over Jackson but too much stress and damn work. “

“Well maybe your future finance will want to do all the work.”

The alpha shrugged his shoulders. “Maybe. Doesn’t matter. Way in the future and I spy Peter.”

Stiles followed Jackson’s line of focus and yep, Peter was across the way from them. He was looking back with a crease in his brows. He was for sure confused seeing Stiles accompanied by Jackson. “Play along.” Jackson whispered and immediately pulled Stiles in closer to his side.

“What are you doing and wouldn’t this be cramping your style?” Stiles eked out as he felt the alpha’s arm wrap around his waist.

“For the few minutes to annoy the crap out of Peter, it’s so worth it.”

The alpha then brushed a kiss on the top of his head which caused Stiles to squirm. “That tickles.”

Speaking onto the top of his head, Jackson continued with the charade with another chaste kiss, “You sure do wiggle a lot. You like that too when Peter was balls deep inside of you?”

The omega pulled away slightly and glared up towards the other. “What? No, and it’s none of your business. And really? Are you having fun now?’

“Mostly,” he leaned in and rubbed his nose on the side of his cheek. “It’s mildly entertaining.”

“Okay, this is getting weird,” and he noted that Peter was no longer in his eyes sight, He must have gone somewhere ekes. “I think you annoyed him and probably repelled anyone who might have been interested in you if things don’t pan out with Derek.”

“Why do you say that?”

“Uh because you were all up in Stiles business and they will think you are a prick for deserting me and going after them.”

“News flash Stiles, there’s enough people who happen to like assholes. I think I’ll be fine.” And he really wanted to argue that point but he wasn’t totally wrong. Hell, Peter can be an ass and it hadn’t stopped Stiles from sleeping with him.

Stepping away from the alpha, Stiles shook his head. “Perhaps. Well, I’m going to find a seat and save a couple for my dad and Mr. Argent.”

“I’ll come with you. Since Derek got roped into groomsmen duties last minute, I don’t want to sit by myself and look like a loser.” And Peter also was asked rather last moment to walk Laura down the aisle so yeah he supposes Jackson didn’t have anyone specifically to sit with. Though, he’s a little surprised he wants to join him but whatever.

“Fine, just be on your best behavior.”

“No promises little fawn.”

They quickly found a spot near the aisle so Jackson could spread out more. Stiles nudged him more than once to give him more space but the alpha just chuckled and pointed to his huge thighs with a what can I say gesture.

“I think Derek is going to look way hot in his tuxedo,” Jackson offered up while Stiles scanned the area to see if he could spot his dad to wave him over.

“Yeah, for sure. He’s a good looking alpha but personally when he wears his glasses; I mean they really make him even more sexy.”

Jackson smirked at the thought with a twinkle in his blue eyes. “You make a good point. He’s got the whole Clark Kent/Superman vibe going on.” Leaning more into Stiles, the alpha spoke more softly, “hell that means I could totally be boning Superman. Lucky me.”

Stiles eyes widened as he elbowed the other. “Dude, someone is going to overhear you saying your perverted thoughts.”

He shrugged his shoulders evidently not caring what others could have potentially heard, eyes flickering around Stiles. “Your dad is here with his sexy alpha date.”

The omega took a quick breath at Jackson’s brashness once more and turned his head to flag his dad over. The sheriff quickly spotted him and made his way over with Mr. Argent following dutifully. Entering the row, the older man smiled at Stiles, “hey kiddo,” yet quickly his face contorted into confusion as his eyes landed on the alpha next to him. “Jackson. Hello to you as well.”

“Hey Mr. Stilinski. Good to see you again.” He reached out his hand to shake his fathers who reciprocated the gesture. Then they all did the same with Mr. Argent.

Once the pleasantries were done, both his dad and Mr. Argent took a seat, with his dad immediately inclining towards Stiles with a hushed undertone. “I thought you said Jackson was going with Derek.”

“He is. Derek is here. We just came together.”

His dad’s brows furrowed still not completely understanding. “Huh?”

“They are technically each other’s plus one. I needed a ride so we came together. Trust me dad, nothing going on between the two of us.’

“Okay, don’t always understand your generation.” Yeah, Stiles doesn’t always understand it either.

Luckily the awkward chatting stopped when the music started indicating the start of the wedding. Stiles watched as the groomsmen accompanied the bridesmaids all decked out in lilac-colored A-line dresses down the lined aisle way. Next up was an adorable as fuck flower girl and ring bearer. They had to be a niece and nephew from somewhere.

The next thing he knew they were standing up as Laura appeared with her arm clung to Peter’s. They both gracefully walked down between the rows of chairs with Peter looking as handsome as ever in his black tuxedo, lavender bow tie and polished black suede shoes.

Laura was stunning in her long white gown covered in lace and tulle. The top of the dress was corset style and the gown had a long train. Some of her jet-black hair was pulled back with the rest of her long locks falling onto her shoulders. She was beautiful and immediately glowed when she reached Jordan who also looked so damn pretty in his tux.

They were going to have stupidly attractive kids together.

Stiles shed a few tears as vows and rings were exchanged. Once they sealed the deal with the kiss, he wiped away the few stray ones and stood to clap with everyone else to celebrate the newly married couple of Jordan and Laura Parish.

An announcement was then made that photos were going to be taken and that guests could help themselves to appetizers and drinks as they waited.

His father and Mr. Argent went off to get drinks and Jackson mentioned scoping out the crowd which left Stiles to his own devices.

He was surprised however when a certain alpha showed up by his side rather quickly as he perused the appetizers, “Stiles,” Peter called out.

“Hey Hale. Aren’t you supposed to be getting your pictures on?” Stiles wondered since he knew the Hales were off taking photos.

“Yes, they should be fine without me for a few minutes, “he cocked his head with narrowed eyes. “Seriously though? Jackson? My roommate? He’s the secret alpha you have been planning to go with?”

“Well…,” he shrugged his shoulders. He had no good answers and really the man should realize that technically Jackson was here as Derek’s plus one. “Things may have not totally gone the way I was hoping and Jacks was more of a matter of convenience. He was available to drive me so I was like why the hell not?”

“Really? Jackson over just coming alone or just coming with me?”

“Yeah, sort of. I don’t know. You just seemed like you expected me to agree to go with you and I wanted to annoy you at little. And it’s the principle of the matter. I said I was attending with someone so I had to go through with it.”

A grin formed on Peter’s face as his irritation floated away. “Sounds like something I would do. I don’t necessary like that it was at my expense but well played Bambi. Showing up with Jackson was for sure a good way to get under my skin.” Peter turned his head over his shoulder to glance where the Hale’s were still gathering taking pictures. “I need to attend to my family obligations. Admittedly, I am glad you actually didn’t come with a real date since now we can hang out later. I wasn’t looking forward to socializing with others so now I have an excuse not to.”

And really Stiles couldn’t agree more. He does enjoy spending time with Peter. Maybe the day wasn't going to be awkward or too bad after all.

Chapter 13

Notes:

Hey guys - back to normal.

Chapter Text

Peter didn’t know if he should be irritated or grateful. He was definitely relieved that Stiles didn’t actually come to the wedding with some alpha but also annoyed that Jackson wanted to play the part of accompanying him.

He could tell Jackson was enjoying getting under his skin – almost a little too much by the way he leaned into Stiles and then brushed soft kisses on top of his hair.

Perhaps Jackson coming back as a ghost is not the worst thing ever if Peter smothered the alpha in his sleep later.

However. Peter doesn’t have much to stand on and really doesn’t have much right to complain and gripe about it. He did hurt Stiles and as much as the omega says they are good, he is still smarting and for sure wanted to show Peter than he can play hardball too.

And the alpha is impressed despite his annoyance that it was Jackson he chose of all people.

But, he couldn’t help that he was also a little giddy that it was Jackson and not some random or strange alpha that accompanied Stiles. That scenario may have been harder to tolerate. They may be good friends and going through a slight rough patch, yet Peter has a hard time imaging Stiles dating an alpha.

Does he think and hope that alpha would be him one day? Perhaps and maybe one day they will get there. But he does know he doesn’t like the thought of Stiles of being with someone else. It’s probably selfish. It’s just that he doesn’t want to lose any part of the relationship and dynamic they have with one another to some other alpha that may pop into his life and take any or all of Stiles out of his life.

He will however swallow whatever pill he has to if the omega does indeed find happiness with someone. Despite his self-interest, he would never come between Stiles and any of his potential partners. At the end of the day, he does want the boy to be happy and he would make help ensure that happens even if he himself didn’t get his own happy ending.

Taking a deep breath and plastering on a charming smile, Peter strolled the rest of the way to his family so he could partake in the pesky photos and whatever other schmoozing he had to endure for the rest of the day.

After a couple of hours of photo posing, watching toasts and first dances, and eating; Peter decided if and when his day ever came, elopement was the way to go.

He was exhausted and his charming personality was all talked out. The alpha wanted to call it a day but he knew there was still more to do and he still hadn’t had any time to spend with Stiles as of yet. The family obligations had pulled him into too many different directions.

Not to mention a few of Talia’s friends had approached him and made some flirtatious gestures. The were annoying but he was nice and at least made some small talk before making a somewhat gracious getaway. He hoped if word got back to his sister, the women would at least say he wasn’t rude.

Eyeballing the bar setup, Peter made his way there first. Once he got some kind of alcoholic beverage in hand, he would go seek out the omega and hopefully avoid any other unwanted attention.

“You know,” the words were a little slurred but they were forceful as his annoying friend slid up behind him. “Your nephew is being elusive as fuck. And maybe a little obtuse too. I really don’t like working this hard for a fine ass.”

Peter swiveled to face the alpha with his nice cold vodka on the rocks in his right hand. “He’s not always the brightest bulb and I’m not helping you or giving you any advice.” Yes, Peter was going to be a petty and petulant child.

The other rolled his eyes that were a little glossed over. Great, the shit has been drinking and Peter refuses to drag his ass home. “Oh Petey, you’re being too easy. I was just having fun. You know that. Your little fawn wanted to get back at you and I was just helping him out. Trust, you got nothing to worry about.”

He wasn’t really. He knew deep down there was and never would be anything between Jackson and Stiles but yet it still aggravated him anyway. “Well, I can still be irritated at you.” His eyes scanned over the other alpha to locate said omega amongst the crowd of people. “And speaking of, I want to find Stiles. We are supposed to hang out tonight.”

He began to skirt around Jackson when the other reached out and grabbed his arm. “Any thoughts on your nephew?”

Now it was Peter’s turn to roll his eyes. “No more drinking tonight and just be direct you moron. Stop beating around the bush. Tell him what you want.” Jackson released his grasp and stepped back gazing at Peter with an almost quizzical look. Like he couldn’t believe it would be that easy. “And if it works, I do not want to hear any details. I don’t want to be scarred for life hearing how you boned my nephew.”

“Shit Petey, like that is ever going to happen. I so am going to share all the details with you.”

Peter took a calming breath, “I hate you sometimes.”

“You say that but you love me more.”

And fuck, he was so right.

“Hello Bambi,” Peter cheerily greeted as he slid into the empty seat next to Stiles. He had spotted the omega as he maneuvered around Jackson – he had noted the younger man seated at a half empty table situated near the middle but closer to the back of the oversized tent.

“Hey yourself, “the omega cocked his head towards Peter in greeting. “Finished with all your responsibilities?”

His eyes flickered to the empty plate and glass in front of the boy. “I certainly hope so but I’m sure Talia will rope me into something or other.” Talking a quick sip of his drink, he winced at the after taste as he placed the glass on the table. “You good? Need anything else to eat or drink?”

“Yep, I’m good. Letting everything digest.” He leaned back in his chair and patted his stomach. “Cake was delicious. Was just checking out everyone. Jackson has already harassed me and my dad and Mr. Argent left a few minutes ago claiming they were tired. I think that was secret code for going to have sex.”

Peter chuckled. “He found me as well pouting about Derek.” The alpha relaxed back into his chair mimicking Stiles and really took the moment to take in his appearance. The younger man looked really nice dressed up in his suit. It was darker gray and he adorned a dark maroon shirt underneath which complimented his pale skin tone. Plus, the contrast really made his moles pop. “So. ...you want to talk shit about people or are you going to be leaving soon? Or…” perhaps want a dance he asked in his head. He wasn’t sure if that request would cross the friendship line or not.

The boy began fiddling with the cloth napkin that had been tossed near his plate. “We can if you want. Jackson is sort of my ride so if things go his way, I might need a ride home. So, like if you want to come over for a bit to wind down, we can do that too when you’re ready and able to leave.”

And that sounded truly wonderful in itself. He was tired and kind of wanted to fall into his own bed but the thought of relaxing at Stiles had its own perks as well. It would not take much twisting of his arm to go there with the boy and sink into his couch and watch a movie or just chatter the rest of the night away with him. “Actually that sounds lovely.”

They chatted for a bit until Peter got called away to walk someone to their car. By the time he got back, he noted that Stiles had made it out to the dance floor and was swaying his hips infused with some flailing to the music blaring. He smiled at the boy who was evidently in a world of his own. Part of him wanted to stroll out there and dance with him. Another part of him didn’t know if the gesture was the best idea or not. Yet, almost immediately he got his answer since Jackson of all people appeared and began reciprocating the omega’s moves. It was irritating but at least it wasn’t some strange alpha with his paws all over the boy. He could and would deal with it.

But seeing Jackson reminded Peter, “where the hell are you, Derek?” He questioned out loud as he began to skulk around to locate his elusive nephew.

After about ten minutes, he located the alpha more or less of the perimeter of the tent, drink in hand and people watching. He was alone so it was a great opportunity for Peter to pounce. “Dear nephew,” he greeted as the younger man glanced at him. “Why are you acting more like a decoration?”

“Tired and it’s nice just watching Laura being happy with her new husband.” Peter followed Derek’s line of vision that was planted on the newlyweds. They both were glowing indeed and didn’t appear to show any of the exhaustion the rest of them were feeling. The bride was still gorgeous in her gown but now her hair was a little messier. And the groom lost his jacket a while ago but it didn’t matter – they were happy.

Smiling at the scene, he redirected his focus back to Derek. “I would have thought Jackson would have sunk his claws into you by now.”

“Is that what he’s trying to do? He’s not being very obvious.” Or Derek is being oblivious. “Besides half the time I can’t take him seriously. The man loves to talk to just hear his own voice.”

He wasn’t wrong about that. “Well maybe you can engage with him a little.” Derek cocked his right brow. “Listen I’m not saying Jackson is settling down type material but it can’t hurt for you to get a blow job or hand job out it.” And an ass pounding but he kept that part to himself.

“Is this because he’s your friend or because he’s dancing with Stiles?”

“Well, I’m a little testy with him right now. Mostly because he’s being unbearable and yes, Stiles offered up a nice chillax evening after we wrap things up there.” And he really hopes that will be sooner than later. Talia did hire lots of people who will do most of the cleanup.

His nephew squared his jaw, “By the way, I really want to kick in your balls for screwing around with Stiles. And I don’t necessarily mean the actual deed. The more of being as ass afterwards. You’re his friend and you did him dirty.”

Peter was surprised it had taken his nephew this long to say something to him. “I do know the error of my ways. Not my finest moment but we are working through it.” The younger alpha cocked his left brow showing doubt. “I have groveled and sent him presents. We are working our way back to where we were. If he wants to hang out with me tonight, that means something right?”

Derek swallowed the rest of his drink and let out a slow deep breath. “Fine, I suppose it does” he dragged his free palm down the front of his face. “I’ll distract Jackson. No guarantees with your suggestion but I’ll talk to him at least. You can have your clean gettaway but don’t dip before seeing Laura and possibly mom. And if I get word that you hurt Stiles again, I will not go easy.”

Thus far, Talia hadn’t been the worst and only had made one biting comment about him arriving stag. Mostly she had been too fixated on making the day memorable for her daughter. So, he supposes he could man up and check in with her before he leaves and hope for the best. “Deal. And thank you nephew. I have no intentions of hurting the boy again.”

“Dad’s not home. I guess he’s doing the deed at Mr. Argent’s,” Stiles offered as he unlocked the door to his apartment. “Not sure how long we’ll have the place to ourselves.”

Stepping inside, Peter is immediately calmed at the quiet. Luckily, Derek had pulled Jackson away from Stiles and Talia shooed him away because she was being psycho to some unsuspecting worker so they were able to leave the festivities rather easily. “That’s fine.” Peter closed the door behind and toed off his black loafers and left them near the entrance.

“Be right back.” Stiles called out as he stepped towards his bedroom. Peter took the remaining steps to the sofa, unclasping his cufflinks as he went. He had left his suit jacket in the car so all he had to deal with was his shirt. Once he got his cuffs free, he pushed up the shirt material to his elbows and then loosened the collar by unbuttoning the top two buttons.

Before taking a seat onto the couch, he reached for remote and then fell into the cushions. It was heavenly.

“Hey, you can choose,” Stiles approached now out of the constraints of his suit. He was adorning dark gray sweat pants and a raggedly looking Beacon Hill Police Dept t-shirr. “You want popcorn and oh,” his eyes danced over Peter. “Shit, I’m so comfy and you still have your suit on. You want me to see if my dad has anything you can change in?” He gestured with his thumb behind him.

“I’m fine. Got my shoes off and sleeves rolled up. It’s all good and I don’t want popcorn but thank you.”

“Cool.” The omega took the few steps to the sofa and sat next to Peter. He quickly reached behind him and grabbed the throw blanket that was sitting on the back. Unfolding the cottony material, he draped it over himself and part of it onto Peter as well. “What are you going to pick out? And please tell me not another Disney movie.”

There was nothing wrong with a good animated feature. And Disney knows how to do their stuff. Well mostly anyway. They have had a few clunkers along the way. “Well, I was leaning towards Beauty and the Beast.”

The omega snorted. “Doesn’t surprise me. Well,” he waved his right hand towards the TV, “cue it up.”

There was nothing wrong with that movie. It’s classic and it was Oscar nominated so Peter didn’t feel guilty at all as he found the movie and pushed play.

It wasn’t far into the movie that Stiles began encroaching more into Peter’s space accompanied by a few yawns. His head eventually lolled onto the alpha’s shoulder. He almost thought the younger man was asleep until he spoke, “hmm, you smell kind of good. New cologne?”

Peter couldn’t help but preen. The omega was enjoying the way he smelled. He yearned to buff out his chest and scream from the rooftops. “It’s a new fragrance that I picked up for the wedding. I guess it was good choice.”

“Don’t gloat too much Hale but,” the boy inched even closer to his side. “I do like it. And I may not be able to stay awake for the whole movie.”

He wasn’t surprised and he felt the same way too. He was really tired as well. “We’ll just watch we can.” Peter surmised as he sunk deeper into the cushions and snaked his arm around the omega to get even more comfortable.

“I remember when you cuddled up with me in a similar manner. You were like seven and were scared of a storm or something. Actually, you were quite the cuddle bug for a while.” Yes, he now recollects when Stiles was younger, the omega was so much more tactile. – loved asking fur hugs and snuggles.

“Yeah, because I thought you were the biggest, bad ass alpha and that you would protect me from everything and anything.”

“You no longer think that now that you’re older?”

There was some silence before the omega replied, “I mean a little. Alphas can only do so much but I know you will always have my back. So yeah, you’re still a big bad alpha.”

Peter couldn’t help but smile some more realizing the boy did still feel that way about him. “Yes Bambi, I will forever and always have your back no matter what.”

“Thanks alpha.” The boy whispered in a sleepy infused voice.

He would make sure of it for as long as he lived.

Chapter Text

The sound of the throat clearing rattled Stiles enough that his eyes popped open but it took him a moment to focus back on reality. His head was pillowed on a nice comfy lap with a heavy arm encompassing his waist. He didn’t want to move since he was sleepy but he also tried to zero in where he was at the moment.

Then it was slowly coming back to him – Peter and him were watching a movie, their bodies leaning in more an more as they grew more and more tired from the day’s festivities. Yep, now his memory was not so foggy. He fell asleep on the man.

And oh God, was he drooling on said comfy lap? He felt saliva trickling down his right cheek. How fucking mortifying.

And oh God, was that his dad that he could now make out hovering above them that awoken him from his slumber?

Stiles jerked upwards nearly knocking his head into Peter’s chin, causing the alpha to jerk away slightly. He quickly wiped the drool residue from his cheek as he gazed at his dad who was staring at them quizzically. “Dad? You’re home?” His voice squeaked as Peter now sat up straighter, releasing the arm that had been wrapped around Stiles.

“Well, I do live here.”

True and Stiles didn’t have a reply to that but now that the sleepiness was starting dissipate from his eyes, he really took in his father’s appearance. His hair was askew and his suit was wrinkled. Ooh, maybe the beta did get some action. “You and Mr. Argent do the deed pops?”

His dad exhaled loudly. “No and even if we did, I certainly hell wouldn’t share that with my son.” His eyes roamed over between Stiles and Peter. “I thought you went to the wedding with Jackson?”

“I told you dad as friends. He was Derek’s plus one and Peter and me wanted to hang out after to decompress.”

“Right,” the beta shook his head through exasperation. “It’s all very confusing to your old man. Anyway, I’m going to bed. You need to do the same kiddo and Peter; do you need a pillow for the couch?”

The alpha stretched out his legs and curled his toes. “Thanks John but I’m good. As much as I would love to just go back to sleep, I much prefer to do it in my own bed.”

“I understand. Okay, good night you two.”

Stiles and Peter wished his dad good night simultaneously as the older beta pivoted and strolled down the hallway to his bedroom. “Hey,” Stiles leaned in to whisper, “you think my dad is walking funny? You think he got that dicking?”

Peter cocked his brow and slowly extracted himself from both Stiles and the sofa. Reaching his arms towards the ceiling, there were some cracking of bones as Peter moaned out in contentment. “I think you are way too invested in your father’s sex life.”

“I want my old man to happy and him getting some alpha dick may go a long way in being happy. Or at least a stepping off point anyway.” To Stiles it didn’t seem like rocket science. Alpha dick can definitely help make someone happy.

“Perhaps but it’s way too late or,” the older man glanced at the Apple watch that was wrapped around his left wrist. “Way too early in this case to be talking about your dad’s sex life. I should get going.”

Stiles carefully stood up and nodded his head in agreement. It was late and his bed sounded so good right now. “Um,” the omega ran his fingers through his hair as his eyes were down casted to the ugly color beige carper. “Sorry ‘bout getting drool over your pants.”

The alpha snorted so Stiles peeked up to look at him. ‘It’s fine. Nothing some dry cleaning can’t remedy. And it’s certainly better than when you threw up on me when you were like what ten years old?”

Oh God, yeah that was also super embarrassing but, in his defense, he was sick with a stomach flu. “Can we not relive that moment please?”

Peter evidently thought that was amusing as well since he chuckled once more. “As much as it is fun to give you hard a time, I should get going.” He strolled over towards the door with Stiles following behind.

The alpha slipped his feet into his shoes as Stiles reached for the knob. “Text me when you get home and let me know if you can figure out if anything happened between Derek and Jackson.”

“I will Bambi. Have a good night.”

“You too Hale.”

Stiles may have hit his bed on his pillow and fell asleep before getting the text that Peter arrived home safely.

“Der, Der, my man Der.” Stiles smiled cheekily as slid in across the table from his best friend. He had begged, borrowed, and pleaded for the alpha to meet up for some coffee on Monday morning. He assumed the day after the wedding the man would have refused meeting him due to exhaustion so he waited a whole day to ask. And it was pure torture.

Stiles sat back in the uncomfortable plastic chair and grasped his iced coffee in between his palms just waiting in anticipation for the other to fess up – to fess up anything. And all the alpha did was stare back at him expressionless, “what?”

Freaking dingbat. He loves him. He really does but seriously, “so what happened the other night? You and Jackson go home together?” Peter had been absolutely no help whatsoever. He said when he arrived back to the apartment, Jackson’s bedroom door was closed and he didn’t know whether he was home or not. And despite Stiles pleas, he wouldn’t ask Jackson the next day either. Or he had details or knew something and was purposefully not telling Stiles to annoy him.

The alpha sighed out while crossing his arms over his stupidly broad chest and glared at Stiles. “This is what this is about?” Stiles nodded his head like bobble head. “You know we were drove separately so…”

“Oh my god Derek. Really? You two could have followed each other home. You looked like you were enjoying yourself with him when we left.”

“We are friends. We do get along.” It was like literally pulling teeth from this man. He wasn’t going to give Stiles much of anything and he was dying of curiosity. His best friend was going to kill him by death of curiosity. Not the way he wanted to go out but he supposes there could be worst ways.

He picked his cup up and wiggled it back and forth to knock the ice cubes into one another. He took a sip of his drink as he pondered how to get some tea from his annoying friend right now. “Ugh Der, did you guys sleep together or least exchange blow jobs or something?” He decided for blunt and to the point.

“Geez Sti,” the alpha uncrossed his arms as his eyes scanned the area. “The whole school doesn’t need to hear that question. And why are both you and Uncle Peter so deadest on us rubbing our dicks together?”

“Well,” he dragged the thought out as he placed the cup on the table and began tapping the surface with his index finger. It was a valid question and Stiles wasn’t sure if he had a decent response. “Because it would be way hot. I do think you need to get some action. Because really dude, when’s the last time you got some? And Jackson is an alpha so he would have a well-hung cock.”

Derek leveled him a look, not seemingly impressed with Stiles reasons. “I do just do fine thank you very much. And did it slip your mind that I, Derek Hale am I also an alpha and I’m endowed with a well-hung cock?”

He couldn’t argue with that. They maybe friends but Stiles has seen glimpses here and there. Plus, it’s hard not to notice the bulge in the guy’s pants. “Okay, it’s just I think it could be good thing. I don’t know Der.”

“Sti, how about instead you concentrate on yourself and whatever is that you and my uncle are pretending doesn’t exist?”

His index finger stopped tapping the staccato beat he had going on and he glared at his friend. “I have no idea what you’re talking about and you’re deflecting.”

The alpha snorted and shook his head. “I’m deflecting? That’s funny coming from the king of deflection.” Stiles stuck his tongue out because reasons. “Listen,” his friend’s tone was softer and fond. “I love you Sti. I want the best for you and see you happy. Do I think my uncle is the one to help make that happen? Maybe. I do know he cares about you so much and I’m fairly sure he was pining after you at the wedding.”

Well, that was surprising. Peter Hale pining? Didn’t sound much like the alpha that much. “Der,” Stiles piped in but the other waved him off and kept going.

“I know. You’re going to say you are friends who like to banter and flirt sometimes and blah blah. Just step back and really look at the relationship between you two. You may see something more. And,” his friend reclined back in the seat as a smirk formed, “if he hurts you again. I get to beat him up for real this time. Sounds like a win no matter what.”

Stiles really looked at Derek as he spoke. He wasn’t quite sure what to make of everything of if he quite believed all the words he was conveying. It sounded nice and all but he just wasn’t sure who really wasn’t seeing the bigger picture fully. Did Derek see something Stiles hadn’t really caught and was the omega just being dense? Or was Derek off his rocker?

Or perhaps was Stiles just being in denial?

The omega pounded on the door and waited impatiently for it to open. He teetered back and forth on his feet when it finally opened, revealing Jackson standing there with a cocked head. Leaning on the door frame, he apprised Stiles for a moment before speaking. “Are you here for the cat or Peter?”

“Um both I suppose.” Yeah, that was a good answer. He did want to see both the feline and the alpha.

The alpha pushed off the door frame with a sigh. “Really? I’m hurt little fawn. I drove you to a wedding, hung out with you and even danced with you. And you don’t want to see me?”

He had a feeling Jackson was just toying with him and not really offended that he was not here to see him specifically. “Well, you did grab my ass.”

“Tsk tsk Stilinski. That’s so not my fault.” Stiles eyes widened in surprise, giving the other a seriously look. “Hey, you’re the one who has a grabbable ass. I cannot be held culpable in the act.”

Stiles slightly pushed Jackson in his torso to encourage the other to move and let him inside. “You’re ridiculous.”

“Just stating the facts little fawn. I’m innocent in all this.” Of course, he smirked and seemed satisfied as he closed the door behind Stiles.

He scanned the area for Cheddar as Jackson sauntered over to an overstuffed arm chair and taking a seat. He plopped himself down like most alphas tend to do, with legs splayed and attempting to show off his manhood.

Stiles tried to ignore him as he searched for the cat. Finally eyeing the prize, he scooped the orange tabby up into his arms and carried him over to the couch. Taking a seat with the cat on his lap, he began petting it; glancing at Jackson every so often who still wore that smirk. “What?” Stiles finally broke after the third time glancing at the alpha.

“I was just enjoying you enjoying the view my dick.”

Jackson may truly be insane Yet; Stiles was used to it. He knows how the alpha can be. He is blunt and the point. And not to mention, can be a cocky jerk. Annoying yes but Stiles still has a soft spot for the guy. “I am so not checking out your junk.”

“Ah come on, you’re an omega, it’s okay to admit that you like checking out my dick." He didn’t think it was possible but the alpha smiled even wider along with the splay of his legs.

He tried to ignore the sight by refocusing his attention back on Cheddar.” Just because I’m an omega doesn’t mean I’ll all about ogling alpha cock.” Mostly anyway. He certainly as hell won’t admit to Jackson that yes, he doesn’t mind checking out alpha dick here and there. And he’s not blind. He realizes that Jackson is packing but hell to no of ever going there or giving him the satisfaction that he has noticed his nice sized bulge on occasion.

“Now, now children behave.” Peter’s voice cut through their jesting in which Stiles was thankful the other alpha appeared. “Stop teasing Stiles.”

“But it’s fun to get him all riled up.”

Stiles stuck out his tongue at the other because he’s mature and shit. “Speaking of getting riled up,” Stiles knew this was an excellent segue way. “Did you get Derek riled up? You two knock boots?”

Peter snorted as he took a seat next to Stiles avoiding Cheddar in the process.

“Knock boots?” Jackson shook his head. “You’re weird and have you seen me?” He gestured his hands to his own body. “I’m pretty irresistible.”

“Well, Der kind of implied otherwise.” Stiles didn’t know what to believe. Derek indicated the two of them didn’t do anything and here Jackson is indicating the opposite.

Jackson stretched out his legs with a moan and then promptly stood up. “I guess you’ll have to keep on guessing.” Ugh, he was dang frustrating but he shouldn’t be surprised that the alpha was going to play coy and not cop to anything.

“I have mad detective skills. You know I’m the son of the sheriff so I will get to the bottom of this mystery,” Yes, Stiles is going to find out if anything happened. And if those two boneheads didn’t get together, then he will have to make sure something does transpire. They would be idiotic not falling into bed with each other.

“You have fun with that. I’m going to take a shower. With all this dick talk, I’m horny and want to rub one off.” Stiles scrunched up his nose because ew and he really didn’t want to overhear that. At all.

With Jackson moving towards his bedroom, Cheddar jumped off the couch with the motion. Peter adjusted himself now that he had some extra room. “And we really didn’t need to know that.” Peter interjected as Jackson waved him off.

“Whatever. Just don’t say or do anything perverted in front of my cat.”

Was Jackson being serious right now, “you literally have been talking about dicks in front of him.”

“That’s different because he’s, my cat.” The man was truly insufferable. Stiles didn’t know how Peter lives with the alpha most days. Stiles would go bald pulling out his hair.

Once Jackson retreated to his room, Peter swiveled to face Stiles, “so what brings you by Bambi? Not that I’m unhappy you’re here. Just curious.”

“Um the cat. You too of course. I mean we’re friends. Friends hang out and shit.” He was rambling and not making much sense.

Ugh, why did he let Derek get into his head?

Chapter Text

Peter didn’t know how Derek did it but somehow his nephew finds plausible ways of getting out of helping his mother. And every time he wiggles out of it, Peter is the one left to do it. He tries himself to squirm away and has even come up with very valid excuses. But Talia is a very good guilt tripper and part time manipulator.

At least, she promised him some lunch out of the deal.

After putting away a shit ton of boxes of party decorations that would probably never see the light of day again, Peter stared out the kitchen window into the backyard. It was crazy that a week ago it was all decked out holding a wedding ceremony and now it was basically back to normal.

“I appreciate you helping me even though it was like pulling teeth.” His sister surmised as she opened up the fridge.” Iced tea?”

“That would be great. Thanks.” He turned from the window and took a seat at the table as his annoying sister went to grab the pitcher. “It’s because I always have to do the heavy lifting when you have a more than capable alpha son who is younger and probably stronger.”

She smiled while placing a now full glass of iced tea in front of him. She quickly followed suit and then took a seat across from Peter. “Maybe it’s just an excuse to see my darling brother.”

He could see that. He doesn’t make a shit ton of effort to visit but it is her fault because she likes to nag him to death. “Right,” he guffawed and immediately took a sip of his drink. The coolness was refreshing as it hit the back of his throat. “Are you going to pester me about how I showed up stag to Laura’s wedding?” He was still rather stunned that she had hardly made a mere mention of that fact. He assumed she was going to make a huge deal out of it and she hadn’t. He was for sure grateful about it but it was odd that she had kept things to herself thus far.

She cocked her perfectly manicured brow with a tilt to her head as she looked upon Peter. “Well,” she exhaled. “Not exactly super pleased that you didn’t call my friend. I was sort of hoping you might try,”

“Just not interested. I don’t need you meddling in my love life or trying to push something that I’m not interested in. It will happen when it happens.”

Her expression morphed from the somewhat irritated look to fonder. She smiled as she clung her fingers around her tall glass. “I know. It’s hard for me since I just want to see you happy. Yet,” her lilt infused tone carried. “Then I realized I shouldn’t worry. You are so sweet on that boy.”

“Um what?” Peter’s eyes raised to his hairline. “What are you even talking about?”

“Stiles. You two see each other practically every day. Don’t think I didn’t notice you leaving the wedding with him either. It’s kind of adorable how endearing you are with him.”

The alpha stared at his sister as she spoke. What was she implying? Of course he’s nice to Stiles. That’s no secret but she was trying to indicate there was more there? He wanted to say she was off her rocker but also realized, she really wasn’t really that far from the truth. “We’re friends. Have been for a very long time, you know that. Friends do things with each other.”

There, that sounded reasonable and it wasn’t a lie. They are friends who enjoy one another's company.

“Right.” Her eyes held a glint of mirth. “I do know that but you are deluding yourself if you think that’s all there is. The way you sometimes look at him and your protectiveness over the omega. It’s more than just good friends. I had seen glimpses before but hadn’t really got the seriousness of your emotions towards him until recently.’”

He almost felt exposed and raw – his sister was seeing right into him. Talia was almost boring into his soul and reading every part of him. Once more he wanted to tell her she was crazy and nuts. But she was closer to understanding the feelings he did have. Not that he understood all the emotions that were rolling around inside of him either. He was confused and didn’t know how to interrupt everything.

And really some of the emotions he gathered, he wasn’t sure if he was ready to confront them head on. Sometimes, it seemed easier to ignore. That way he knew he wouldn’t get hurt. Just being friends with Stiles was enough. He didn’t have to put himself out there and be vulnerable and then potentially get hurt.

Yep, he may be a big strong alpha but he can admit he is somewhat cowardly right now too. “So, I thought I was getting some lunch out of this.”

“Nice one baby brother. You can change the subject but it doesn’t change how you feel.”

Well, no but it gets him out of the hot seat for now and a distraction from not thinking and admitting certain things about a certain omega.

As luck would have it or in the case of Peter; lack thereof, the alpha ran into the omega’s father just a few days later.

He was standing in the local coffee shop waiting for his order, minding his business, and just scrolling through his phone. “Peter,” he recognized the beta tone immediately. He has been very well acquainted with it for the majority of his life.

His eyes flickered from the screen to the older man who was standing nearby. “Hello Noah,” Peter greeted rather chirpily as he noted the man was adorning the tan sheriff’s uniform, gun holstered to his hip probably ready to shoot at any alpha who may look crossed eyed at his omega son. “On a break?”

The man’s-tired eyes creased as he nodded. “Yeah, needed a pick me up. Long day and will probably be a long evening. Big case.”

The beta always worked super long hours given the nature of his job. Stiles has told him more than once that he wished his father would take it easy sometimes. He could understand the worry he has for his dad but also knows how Noah is. He’s the type of person who always wants to be on the go – can never sit still. And, he so desires to keep this town safe no matter what. He will be surprised if the man ever retires.

“Sounds daunting.” Peter surmised as he heard his name being called for his coffee. He stepped up to the counter and grabbed his cup. Today he went for more of a Stiles order and got a Carmel iced coffee. Backing away, he turned to face Noah to say his good bye but the beta interjected first.

“Can I you ask you a favor?” There was a hint of hesitancy in the question so he assumed the man was a little nervous to ask.

Peter swriled the contents of his beverage around to mix up the syrup more. “Sure, as long as it’s not asking me to tell Stiles to back off meddling in your sex life. He’s not going to listen to me on that.”

The beta snorted through his pinched eyes. “Yeah, no but now that you mention, any help would be appreciated.” The man smiled knowing that his son is stubborn and when he gets mind settled on something, it’s hard to get him off that focus. “No, I was just wondering since I don’t know how late I’ll be working tonight and Stiles tends to get distracted when studying. Could you maybe bring by some dinner for him?”

It was not what Peter was expecting the man to ask but it certainly was an easy favor. Peter has to eat too and it’s not like something that they haven’t done a shit ton before. “I can do that. Easy enough.”

“Great,” the man’s eyes drifted over to the counter as his name was called out to procure his beverage. “I do appreciate it.”

Peter nodded in acknowledgment, “it’s not a hardship to bring Stiles dinner.” The alpha took a few steps towards the door,” just don’t overwork yourself.”

“Hey Peter,” Noah called out before the alpha got too far. “I just want you to know that I will be really late tonight so you will have plenty of time to talk. You know about anything.” The beta was being cryptic but Peter also thought the man believed he was being obvious.

“Um sure, okay. We’ll probably talk about lots of things. You know your son loves to ramble and speak about random things.”
The older man laughed, “I do but I mean,” he sighed out.” It’s just I wasn’t born yesterday. I see how you guys are with each other. I’m fairly sure that Stiles thinks you hung the moon. I’m not getting younger; I want some grandbabies sooner than later.”

What the fuck? Peter almost spit out his drink that he just took a sip of. “I’m sorry Noah, what? And have you been speaking to Talia?”

“No, I haven’t. You’re a good alpha. I know you care for Stiles and will protect him. I don’t get why you both stlll have your heads up your assess so I’m giving you the push because Stiles is being rather obtuse. So, talk to my boy already. “

“Sheriff,” Peter cleared his throat but a palm was immediately brought up in front of his face to shush him.

The older man shook his head. “I know what you’re going to say. And you’re wrong. You like him and he likes you. I’m asking you to take the lead on this. Now,” he moved away to go towards the counter. “I have to get back to work. Hopefully I will see a happy boy when I get home. Well, I mean I don’t need to see some stuff but you know what I mean.”

Peter was speechless and had no clue what to say so he just smiled at the sheriff.

He sure as hell doesn’t know what just happened but he thinks the sheriff might need to join Talia at the crazy house.

And even if the man was not that crazy, it didn’t change the fact that Peter was still going to be a coward.

A few hours later, Peter was outside the Stilinski’s apartment door knocking with a bag of food in his left hand. It didn’t take long for Stiles to open the door. The expression he wore was confused but as he took in the sight before with his nostrils flaring, his eyes landed on the bag Peter was clutching. “Oh my god, you brought me tacos from Jose’s Tex Mex.?”

“I did indeed,” the alpha smiled. “A little birdie told me someone was going to need some dinner this evening.”

Stiles let out an audible sigh as he moved to allow Peter entry. “Well little birdie doesn’t have to say such things and worries way too much but who I am to refuse tacos?” The omega started towards the kitchen “I’m going to grab plates. You got some for yourself, right?”

“Yes,” Peter replied as he toed off shoes by the door and made his way to the couch. He put the brown paper bag onto the coffee table and made himself comfortable on the cushions.

“You want one of my dad’s beers?” The boy called out.

And what goes better with tacos? ‘” That would be great. Thank you.” Peter’s eyes scanned the chaotic mess of notebooks and books Stiles had strewn about. His eyes landed on his open laptop and noticed a video was paused.

Stiles reappeared with a couple of paper plates, a beer, and a coke. He placed them on the coffee table and then took a seat himself. “I don’t think Dance Mom’s is doing your schoolwork.”

“It’s called multi-tasking Hale.” Stiles huffs out as he reaches for the bag of food and began taking the contents out. “Smells so good.” His fingers danced across the various wrapped items and containers. “Dude, did you get beans because they make me fart.”

He’s well aware. Has been in the receiving end on more occasions than he wants to count. “They are so I couldn’t resist but feel free to pass on them so I don’t pass out later from the noxious fumes that you will emit.”

The omega knocked into his knew with his, “rude but it’s not totally unfounded.”

They ate their tacos and beans while conversing with just idle chit chat. It was nice and pleasant. And just fun. Peter was glad they could just be themselves and not worry about anything but yet he still had that nagging at the back of his skull between what both Talia and Noah said.

Does Peter broach the subject and break the ice? Or does he continue the enjoy the evening with his friend and avoid the subject all together? It actually sounded like a good plan. Did he mention he was being a coward?

And then Stiles leaned back on the cushions and cocked his head towards Peter once their meal was done, “so I have been thinking,” the omega stated. “It might be crazy but maybe not. I don’t know.”

Peter almost couldn’t believe it. Could Stiles actually be bringing it up instead? Is the omega going to state they should explore more than being friends? Could he potentially be off the hook - meaning he doesn’t have to be the big strong alpha.

He locked eyes with the doe eyed boy, “what is on your mind?” He asked cautiously. He didn’t want to spook the omega. Peter wanted to ensure the boy he could speak freely.

“Okay, I’m just going to say it. Rip the band aid off so to speak.” Stiles took in a deep breath and licked his bottom lip. And Peter could hardly believe it. “Dad may not be happy.”

Oh, Noah might have a few doubts but he seemed clearly on board. “You got me curious now Bambi.” Very much so. Peter made sure he really focused on Stiles as he spoke. He didn’t want to miss whatever the boy wanted to say.

“Okay, I want to get a cat.” Peter blinked at him a few times in disbelief. A cat? “Crazy because I think dad will be a resounding no but after interacting with Cheddar, it just feels right.”

The alpha was lost for words for a moment since this was not at all what he was expecting. The boy certainly threw him a curve ball. “You want to get a cat? That is what you wanted to talk about?”

“ Um yeah. It’s a big commitment to take care of a pet so I totally wanted your thoughts on it.” His big brown doe eyes blinked at Peter with their softness that always drew him in. The look that Peter could never resist ever since the omega was a child.

“I, yeah. It is but you are more than capable of taking care of a pet. I think it’s a good idea.’ Mostly anyway. Now the boy won’t have an excuse to come over to see Cheddar if he has his own feline. But he wasn’t going to let his selfishness get in the way of the boy’s happiness.

Stiles face grew a wide smile. “Awesome. Cool, like you want to come help pick one out with me? Still need to run things by dad first so it won’t be right away.”

How could he say no despite this not being what he thought was going to be discussed. He never can say no to the boy. “Sure. I can do that. Just let me know when you want to go to the shelter.”

“Thanks so much Hale. You’re the bestest friend someone could ever have.”

Not the words he really wanted to hear tonight yet he will take them for now.

He’ll have to be less of a coward at another time.

Notes:

Almost made some progress and then Peter was thrown off lol

Don't worry guys - they are almost there.

Chapter Text

"So,” his dad leaned back in the kitchen chair with his plate still covered with half eaten eggs and turkey bacon. “You and Peter talk last night?

Stiles crinkled his nose wondering what his dad was implying. “I mean yeah, why? Peter and I usually talk when we hang out.”

“Right but did you talk talk?” His dad was being super weird right now. “You know discuss anything important you might want to share with the old man” The sheriff smiled coyly like he was in deep with some secret.

Oh, perhaps he did know somehow that Stiles was wanting to get a cat. He didn’t know how or why but it just had to be it since he could not possibly think of anything else his old man maybe indicating. “Actually, yeah we did a little.” Stiles smiled back as he moved his eggs around on his plate. “We did talk and Peter was super cool about everything.” He wasn’t exactly surprised that Peter was on board with his idea of him getting a cat but he had wondered briefly if the alpha would tell him it was a stupid idea.

“That’s fantastic son. I am so happy for you.”

His dad grinned so widely which gave Stiles some pause since he thought his old man may not completely be okay with the idea. He assumed he might grumble about the upkeep and the time it took to care for a pet. “Really? I thought you might have a few hesitations.”

“I mean sure at first, I did. But now, no. I am mostly sold and your happiness above all makes me happy.” He sure as hell isn’t going to look a gift horse in the mouth. He really thought there would have to be more convincing on his part.

Stiles exhaled in relief knowing he didn’t have to beg or create a PowerPoint on the importance of having a pet. His grin now matched his dad’s as he looked over at his dad. “I cannot believe how super chill you’re being with this. I for sure thought you might fight me a little so this is way cool. Peter even agreed to go with me to the shelter to help pick out a cat.”

His dad’s eyes quickly narrowed in confusion. “A cat? You’re getting a cat?”

The omega cocked his head in befuddlement as his dad spoke. “Yes. Isn’t that what you were asking about if Peter and I talked last night. I didn’t know how you knew but...” His dad scrubbed his palm down his face with a sigh. “Wait, were you asking if we talked about something else? And if so, what? I was wondering how you knew about the whole cat thing.”

That for sure explains more. His dad was inquiring if they had spoken about something else but what could be wondering about? And he then said he was super happy for him. What in the world did he think they were chatting about?

“I was but you know, it’s nothing important. Don’t worry about it kiddo.” He waved his hand and began eating the rest of his breakfast.

And, not uh. There was something – something that really piqued his dad’s interest and now he almost seems resigned. Yep, his dad isn’t the only one with mad detective skills and the omega was certainly going to get to the bottom of this and find out what his dad was implying. “Sure, didn’t seem like that. You specifically asked if we spoke and then said you were happy for me. So what exactly were you expecting us to talk about that would cause you to be happy for me?”

He could tell his dad was attempting to ignore him. His eyes were focused on his plate, not meeting Stiles. He concentrated on eating and tried to act like there was nothing stewing but Stiles didn’t believe that for a moment.

And there was one thing Stiles was good at and that was both being determined and stubborn. He could wait his old man out until he was done eating and then pounce. He was not letting this go until his father gave him a decent answer.

It was rather excruciating but held out for the next five minutes as his dad finished eating and scooted his chair back as he reached for the mug that held the remainder of his coffee. At that point, his eyes peered over the rim and glanced at Stiles staring back at him. “Finished?”

“Yep, it was good. Thanks for making breakfast. Got some chores to take care of.”

He was trying to make a getaway. “Not so fast Pops. You still have to fess up to me.”

“I told you it wasn’t that important.”

“Dad! I so don’t believe you. You were hyped up. It’s something and I don’t get why you won’t tell me?” If anything, Stiles was curious as hell now.

His dad took the last few sips of his coffee and placed the mug back on the table. Licking his bottom lip of the residue, he exhaled. The man must have realized that Stiles wasn’t going to let this go or decided he wasn’t going to keep it from him any longer. “Mostly, because it’s not mine to tell.”

That was odd and rather cryptic. But it also meant that his dad had expected Peter to share something with Stiles and it was something his father felt it had to come from Peter. Yet, now he wasn’t sure if that was good or bad. His brain was going to spiral into a million different directions but then he remembered his dad saying he was happy for him. So, it couldn’t be that bad.

But what the hell was it? “Fine, I guess that means I need to speak with Peter.”

His dad’s head nodded like a bobble head as he rose from the chair. Clearly, he wasn’t going to get anything else out of him and would need to go to the source itself but in time. He needed some reassurance first.

Stiles huffed as he plopped himself on the sofa with the cushions almost enveloping him. “I mean Der, your Uncle is so damn frustrating. Why?”

The alpha looked at him, his hazel eyes gazing through his glasses. “If I knew that answer, I would have solved one of life’s mysteries by now.” The man slouched on the chair across from him. “And what is this exactly about? Do I get to bust his balls or what?”

Stiles scrunched up his nose at his best friend who seemed entirely too giddy to want to bust his uncle’s balls. “No, I mean I don’t think so.” Really, Stiles wasn’t really so sure. “It’s just I was talking to my dad and he said he was happy for me after I told him me and Peter talked. I was like how does he know I want to get a cat because now I want a cat by the way. And it was odd that my dad was so happy that I was getting a cat. As it turns out that wasn’t it. He didn’t know that was what I was talking about. And then I was like wait, what are you talking about dad? He’s like never mind son; it’s nothing. But shit Der, it’s got to be something. So what do you think?”

The alpha blinked at him and exhaled. “I think I missed half of what you said.”

“Oh, come on, I didn’t ramble that much.” Derek has kept up with his musings in the past. No way he didn’t catch what he just spouted out.

Derek gave him the look – the look that says Stiles is way off base and slightly off kilter so he did what any adult would do. He stuck his tongue out. “Listen! Stop assuming shit. Maybe just talk to Peter. You guys sometimes are shit when it comes to communicating.” That was tonally rude and uncalled for even if it did hold some truth. “It could be something or it could be nothing. Maybe your dad misunderstood something. I don’t know but the best thing would be to talk to the alpha himself. I’m sure Peter can clear things up. Well mostly anyway. He does like to beat around the bush sometimes.”

The alpha made sense on many notes. He should just talk to Peter and hope the alpha is upfront with him – that he won’t be as evasive as fuck because he’s super good at that.

“You make it sound so simple and reasonable. “Yes, Stiles should just put on his big boy pants and talk to Peter directly and stop hemming and hawing. He needs to stop questioning others and just go right for the jugular so to speak. “You’re right.” He stood up quickly with some pep in his step. He was going to do this now before he chickened out and over thought about it too much. “Hey,” he stopped before he reached the door. “You and Jackson? Still waiting for the details.” Or anything for that matter. He’s gotten zero info on whether there was any sort of hook up whatsoever.

The alpha wore a mischievous smile. “You know I don’t kiss and tell.” Well, that was true sometimes but Jackson is the total opposite. He would scream from the roof tops and the alpha has been weirdly radio silent about the whole thing.

“I just need something Der, like did you guys do the deed? Or a hand job? A blow job even?” The curiosity was literally killing him. He just had to know if his best friend got some. Needed to hear whether Jackson was able to get his way and get into his friend’s pants.

The alpha didn’t waver; his expression was not readable except for that stupid smirk. “Well, we all decided to keep you in the dark for now. It’s kind of fun letting you guess and teasing you about it.”

Stiles waggled his index finger at his so-called best friend, “you know I hate all the alphas in my life right now. You all suck. And I’m leaving to go see one of them right now.” Stiles twisted the knob to open the door to leave.

“We love you Sti,” Derek called out as the omega stepped into the hallway.

Ugh, he knows they do but why do they have to give him such a hard time?

“Bambi,” the older man’s right brow arched as he answered the door. His quizzical face gazing on Stiles. “What brings you by?”

“Well, we need to talk.” Stiles offered up in a breath as he shuffled on his feet with the nerves invading his body. “Is Jackson here?”

Peter’s expression wore confusion but he stepped aside to let Stiles into his apartment. “Sounds serious and no, he’s off somewhere. Not sure when he’ll be back.”

With the door closing behind him, Stiles took a deep breath to calm himself. He can do this. Peter and him have known each other a long time. They tell each other everything. He didn’t have to be scared to just come out and ask him what the fuck his dad was implying.

Taking the few steps to the couch, Stiles took a seat with his eyes scanning the area for any sign of Cheddar. He didn’t see him right off so he perhaps was sleeping. Yet, his focus did catch a white package on the coffee table addressed to Peter. “Um, not that serious.” He replied as he reached for the item since he now noted it was from a pet store. “You buying things for Cheddar now?”

The alpha’s eyes widened – he looked like a toddler whose hand was caught in a cookie jar. “It was nothing.” He quickly retorted and reached for said package from Stiles’ grip. “The feline needed a couple of things and Jackson was slacking.”

Stiles lips curved into a smile. He so wanted to tease Peter about this. He just knew the alpha had a soft spot for the cat. And hell, he really wanted to know what he bought. Was it a toy? Or maybe a kitty outfit. Yes, he was curious but he had to tamp it down because he was here for himself today. “Okay Hale, I’ll let it pass for now but it’s totally adorable that you’re buying things for Cheddar.”

Peter shook his head and threw the packaging down. “I told you it’s nothing. So,” he eased down next to Stiles with a lilt to his head and a quick change to the subject. “What brings you by today? Everything okay?”

Shifting to look at Peter, Stiles crossed his right leg over his left. “Yep. I was having breakfast with my dad and he asked if we had talked. It was kind of odd but I thought he somehow knew I wanted to adopt a cat but nope, that wasn’t it. He thought we had spoken about something else.”

Peter looked at him, almost bearing the same non readable expression his nephew wore not long ago. The Hales were good at not being open books unlike Stiles who contrasted them. He had a terrible poker face.

“Interesting,” the alpha finally found a word. “What do you think he meant by it?”

“Oh my god Hale. I have a feeling you know exactly what he was saying. He literally said he was happy for me. So whatever he thought we spoke about was going to make me happy.”

Peter pursed his lips and exhaled. He starred at the omega for a few moments before uncomfortably shifting on the cushion. It was both odd and endearing witnessing the alpha on the so-called hot seat acting nervous. Usually, he promotes a stoic exterior but Stiles does knows he’s not always strong. And right now, something was for sure getting to him. He was nervous as fuck. “Peter,” he whispered out like convincing a scared dog to come up to someone.

The man intertwined his fingers a few times before shaking his head. “It’s fine Bambi. I’m okay. It’s weird being this anxious about something.”

“What’s going on? You can tell me anything.” He hesitantly reached out and placed his hand on top of the other’s trembling ones. “I feel like I should be scared but I somehow I don’t think I should be.” Once more it was a mix of contradictions wafting from the alpha. The man is usually unflappable, yet here he was being vulnerable. Odd but refreshing at the same time.

Peter’s blue eyes stared back at his own honey dew ones. Exhaling, the alpha softly smiled. “Sorry, it’s nothing to be worried about. I just,” the man quickly closed and opened his eyes. “I realize I made a huge mistake when I walked out that day after we had sex.”

“Water under the bridge my man.” Stiles immediately shot back. He really thought they were mostly past that but Stiles still has free rein to bring it up for all of eternity.

“I appreciate that but it’s more than that Stiles. You being a part of my life is incredibly important. You mean the world to me and I never want to lose that. I have come to the inclusion that I was being stupid and yeah being somewhat of a coward about things.” Stiles cocked his head, wondering where the other was going with this yet he kept his thoughts inside not wanting to interrupt the man. The alpha was on a roll and Stiles didn’t want to stop him.

Peter moved his hand from under Stiles and placed it on top of Stiles with a gentle squeeze. “I want more then friendship with you. Having sex with you was the wake up call I needed and I reacted like a scared chicken. I think we could be great together but if you don’t feel the same way, forget I said anything. We can be amazing friends and pretend this conversation never happened.”

Stiles was rendered speechless – he had no clue what to say. He was so not expecting those words to escape from Peter Hale’s mouth. At least he didn’t think he did. Perhaps, down deep he halfway thought maybe. He’s not totally stupid, he realizes the two of them have a connection and have been circling around one another for a while. It’s just he’s caught off the guard that this was really happening. It was real and not a fantasy.

“Stiles, please say something.” The tone was laced concerned and hesitancy.

“Shit, sorry.” The omega smiled back at the other. “You sort of surprised me there Hale. I,” he took his own deep breath trying to find the right words to say but he had nothing so he just decided to say fuck it. “You’re an idiot. Can we kiss now?”

It took the man zero seconds to pounce on him to feel his lips on his own.

Oh yeah, he can get used to this.

Peter had been worried – extremely worried. He almost felt like a scared dog backed into a corner but he also knew he didn’t have a choice. Stiles had flat out asked him what was going on and he could no longer keep it inside.

Yes, he was afraid to put his feeling out there in the universe. He knew the boy wouldn’t make fun of him or anything like that but he was leery of what his own feelings would be towards him. Would the boy reciprocate the emotions or would he just want to remain friends? Not the end of the world by any means but also not the most ideal outcome. He would learn to live with it if that was truly what the boy wanted but admittedly, it wouldn’t be the easiest thing to do either.

After he got the confession out, the omega had been quiet. The silence was a little longer than usual for Stiles so the alpha did start to grow somewhat concerned that he did in fact not feel the same way so he began to gear himself up for the words he would rather not hear.

And then the omega blurted out that Peter was an idiot and wanted to be kissed. Peter was not expecting that response at all. He assumed the boy would want to talk about things in more detail but nope. He wanted a kiss and who was Peter to deny such a simple sweet request? Talking be damned. It could wait, right?

Smashing their lips together was electrifying. Sparks flying behind his eyelids. Tongues fighting for dominance that Peter happily won by shoving his further down the omega’s throat. The action caused a moan that Peter hadn’t heard the boy vocalize previously. And he yearned to hear again and again. It was music to the alpha’s ears.

Their clothed cocks rubbing against one another elicited groans from each of them. Peter almost felt like he was on a hair trigger and was about ready to drop a load in his underwear. Embarrassing perhaps but he was rock hard and the boy’s hardness rubbing against his was not helping.

Yet, reluctantly he pulled off the younger man. The omega pouted as Peter gazed upon his wet lips and already debauched looking appearance. “I think we need to either take this someplace else,” because there was no way in hell, he was ravishing Stiles on his sofa with a chance of Jackson walking in on them. He would never hear the end of it. “Or we can put a pin in it for now? We can talk more if you’d like or watch something on the TV?”

Stiles offered him an incredulous look, yet he slowly attempted to sit up so Peter moved out of the way and took his own seat back. “You’re going to give me blue balls Hale.”

“Sorry, just don’t want Jackson walking in on us.”

“Fair.” He readjusted himself and took a deep breath. “As much as I don’t want to. Maybe we should pause. It’s getting late and I guess I don’t know. I mean I’m down Peter. You get me. Always have. You are my Ying to Yang. I adore everything about you except when you’re being an asshole to me. It’s fine with everyone else though so don’t stop being you.”

Peter laughed out. He didn’t think he could. He doesn’t know how not to be an asshole. “Excellent. Good talk then? And we can have sex soon?” See? Asshole? He can’t help it; he wants to bed the boy again and very soon.

“Oh lord, what the hell am I agreeing to? Yes, soon my alpha but I get to call you my boyfriend. And you have to hear the shovel talk from not only my dad but Jackson and Derek too.”

Fuck, the boy was driving a hard bargain but he supposes he deserves it. It was going to be hell on earth but it would be well worth it in the end. “Okay, fine.”

“Yes, you’re going to be the best alpha boyfriend ever!”

He hopes so. There was a possibility that he might jump off a cliff first if Jackson gives him too hard of a time.

He assumed Derek would be the easiest so he went to him first. Noah wouldn’t be too bad since he already gave Peter his blessing previously but he had a sneaky suspicion that the beta may ramp it up a little and enjoy giving Peter a hard time.

So therefore it was Derek he opted to seek out.

The younger man tried to come up as stern and menacing but in reality, the expression he leveled Peter was his usual constipated look. “I get to bust your balls if you hurt him.” He hovered as he paced in front of Peter.

It didn’t sound pleasant. Peter relaxed back into the chair he was sitting in to allow the other alpha to assert his dominance more. It was important to both Stiles and Derek so he just bit his tongue and nodded a long. “I mean it Uncle Peter. He deserves the world and I know you know that. He has to be protected and cared for at all costs so please don’t fuck it up.”

“It is not my intention to do so Derek. I plan do right by him and thank you for having his back. It’s great that Stiles has a friend like you.”

“Are you trying to butter me up? Because I will still bust your balls with the compliment and despite us being related. Doesn’t change things.”

Snorting. Peter shook his head. “No Derek. I really mean it. I’m glad you two have each other as friends. Thank you for looking out for him and yes, you can kick my balls all you want if I screw up.” Peter plans no such thing but if for any reason, he does, he would be well deserved for an ass kicking.

The other alpha smiled as he relaxed his shoulders, “come here you big dolt.” He held out his arms. Peter stood up and walked into the embrace. His nephew held him close as he spoke. “I am happy for you. For the both of you. Glad you guys finally figured shit out and actually communicated. Jackson and I had a bet going on how quickly you idiots would finally do something about all the unresolved sexual tension.”

Peter stepped back from the hug, left eyebrow cocked. “A bet? I want to say I’m surprised but I’m not. And really? “ Were things that obvious between he and Stiles? Was Peter really being that oblivious? He didn’t think so. “For how long has this bet been going on for? And who won?”

Derek mimicked his arched eyebrow. “Too long. You think you are subtle but you’re not. And I won. Jackson thought since you didn’t do anything right away, you were going to drag your feet for a while.”

Well, he probably wasn’t too far off. If Stiles hadn’t confronted him, he might have waited a little longer. “Glad I could help enrich you nephew.”

“Me too Uncle Peter. Now you can stop pining and enjoy your time with your omega.”

“I will. And thank you Derek. I appreciate your support for the both of us.”

‘Stop being a sap and get out of here. I know you still have to jump through a few more hoops.” And yes he did.

Noah Stilinski is a fair man. He’s a nice man and someone who loves and adores his son more than anything else in the world. Peter knows he would do anything for his son. And even though the good sheriff seemingly was pushing Peter to get with Stiles, he still believes he will scrutinize Peter to the very last drop - hell maybe even for the rest of his life.

To say he was scared would be somewhat accurate. He doesn’t believe that man would actually shoot him despite the fact that he has patted his shiny silver gun silver times on his holster. No, he just thinks that he will blurt out something stupid or dig himself into an early grave. Or that perhaps Noah had a change heart.

One of the things he has on his side is the man is in a good mood. A really good mood that is. Although he was trying for stern and intimidating, his face was glowing and he almost had some pep in his step.

Or actually, that pep might have been more of an awkward jovial step. Perhaps his footing was somewhat disjointed. And hot damn, Peter grinned widely over the older man. Stiles is going to be extremely happy. He’s fairly sure the man got that dicking from Argent. Good for Noah. He needed some alpha to take care of him really good.

“You’re happy?” The beta asked quizzically as he slipped on the cup of tea he made for the both of them.

“Yes, I suppose I am.” He still smiled as he reached for his own tea and reclined back into the kitchen chair. “Stiles makes me happy and I’m glad I finally saw the light. Thank you for giving me that nudge I needed.”

The older man reciprocated the grin and apprised Peter. “Yeah, I started to think you two weren’t going to do anything about it.” Did everyone notice that they were being idiots? “And as much I really do want Stiles to have an alpha to look after him, I could also tell that you wanted to be that person but were hesitant to pull the trigger. So I guess you could say not only I did that for him but you as well. You’re a good alpha Peter and you deserve to be happy.”

And wow. He honestly didn’t know what to say that. He wasn’t expecting Noah to get so feely with this chat. He expected some threats to his manhood like Derek. Not this emotional talk that just might make Peter tear up a little.” Thanks Noah. I don’t know what to say other than thank you for believing in me and I promise to take care of your son.”

“I know you will. I have no doubts about that.” He sat back with a smirk. “I maybe getting old for some of this but I know Stiles has two other alphas looking out for him that will ensure you will mind your p’s and q’s.”

He wasn’t wrong about that. “Yes sir.”

“Great,” his fingers tapped on the kitchen table. “If Stiles asks, tell him I was menacing and embarrassing. I do have an image to uphold.”

Peter chucked. This was the best shovel talk ever. “Of course Noah. I will tell him I peed my pants a little.”

The beta shook his head seemingly liking that idea. “Now that we got some of this preliminary shit out of the way. When do you think I can expect some grandkids?”

And oh shit, this chat just took a turn, “um…”

“Relax Peter, I’m just kidding. Well mostly. I do expect more than some grand cat that he wants to adopt. I want some real human grandkids hopefully sooner than later but I know he's young."

“I’m sure we’ll get to that point some day and you’ll be one of the first to know.”

The beta looked pleased with the response which was good. Peter actually has no clue as to whether Stiles wants kids or not. He supposes that is something they need to talk about. Peter is not opposed to having some mini Peter’s running around but he would be fine if the boy didn’t want any children either. His father on the other hand will be disappointed but they will cross that bridge when they get to it.

“Nice, well then, more tea?”

He might as well. He wasn’t in a rush to get home to face Jackson just yet.

“It’s finally my turn loser,” Peter was barely into the apartment when he heard the other alpha call out.

“Can’t I least to get inside first and take a seat before you have the time of your life?” He queried as he shut the door and quickly scanned the area for Cheddar. Maybe he could use the cat for a buffer.

Sitting on the couch, he didn’t notice the feline right off. Fuck, so much for that plan. “He’s sleeping and in do not disturb mode so don’t disturb my cat. I know you were thinking about using him as distraction. Clever but no.”

Peter crossed his arms and glared at the younger alpha. He was barefoot, wearing sweats, and a sleeveless white tank shirt. He was relaxed and comfy looking – not someone trying to look intimidating at the moment. “Okay you caught me,” he gestured with his hands to show the other to continue. “Just get it over with so I can continue with my day.’

“Well damn Petey, you’re going to make this less enjoyable for me if you’re so agreeable.” That was sort of the plan. He doesn’t want Jackson to get much happiness out of this. “Maybe you can act a little affronted something. After all, I lost money on you. It’s the least you can do.”

Eyeballing the alpha huffed under his breath. “Yes about that. You seriously had a bet going on about me and Stiles?”

“Yep because you two are oblivious idiots. And as much as I’m not pleased I’m down a hundred bucks, I am grateful you finally found the wherewithal to dig your head out of your ass. It’s about damn time so congrats on finally bagging the omega.”

Peter crinkled his nose. “That’s a little brash but thank you I guess. I appreciate you rooting for me if that is what you are saying,”

The other shook his head and took a few steps closer. “Listen, I know I can be dick and don’t sugarcoat much.” Or at all. “I realize we both can be total assholes but we are friends. Believe it or not I want to see you happy and I know Stilinski makes you happy. So yeah, congrats.”

Well, it’s not as touchy feely as the sheriff but it’s probably the most and the best he will get from Jackson so he’ll tale it. “I appreciate it Jackson but let me guess if I fuck it up, you’re going to hurt me?”

The other alpha laughed. “I’ll leave that to Derek. Nah, I would find a way to sway the boy to sleep with me. He’s got an nice ass so it wouldn’t be a hardship.”

Peter practically growled as he took a deep breath. He knows the younger man is toying with him but the thought of Jackson having his hands on Stiles, makes him not pleased at all. Nope, it’s taking a lot of control to not punch him.

“Wow, your temple is pulsing. I hit a nerve.” He put his hands up in a placating gesture. “If it makes you feel better, the omega wouldn’t ever agree to it anyway which I don’t get since we both know I have a bigger cock.”

“Are you done yet?” Peter asked through gritted teeth. He yearned to leave this little chat. Yes, he gets this is Jackson through and through but he was done for the day. He already had two so called shovel talks and he wanted calm – not Jackson’s sarcastic mouth at the moment.

Jackson grinned widely. “Not sure since it’s way too fun but for now fine. I’ll let you off the hook for the time being.”

Thank goodness. He assumed Jackson would still have more shit to say but he would take the reprieve for now. Standing up, Peter started to walk towards his bedroom and paused. “You know perhaps you should concentrate on getting your own head out of your ass in regards to Derek?”

Hey, if they were having what they would call a heart to heart, he might as well put in his own two cents in as well.

“You know your nephew. He’s constipated, obtuse, and a hard read. You really think I have not been obvious with him?”

He supposes Jackson does have valid points. Derek is all of these things. How did his nephew pick up on Peter and Stiles but can’t see the same shit right in front of his own face? Yet, Jackson isn’t always to the point either. He likes to skirt the issue and play around in hopes others would understand what he is saying. So perhaps the alpha wasn’t being quote as obvious as he thinks he is.

“I will give you that. Well I know you’re stubborn and determined. I can also speak with him if you would like?”

“Nah, I got this Petey. I’m in it to win it from the beginning to the end.”

Peter nodded and decided to just keep his nose out of it. Yes, Jackson would want to see it all for himself to the end so he won’t get involved. “Okay. Good luck.”

“Now go call that little fawn of yours and have some phone sex or something,”

Well that wasn’t the worst idea ever.

Notes:

Starting to wind this one down.

That means my brain is already trying to come up with my next one. I told myself I wanted to go back to werewolves but so far, none of the ideas circulating in my brain involve werewolves.

But you all can count on a fun Steter slow build.

Chapter Text

Stiles was practically vibrating out of the seat as Peter pulled up to the animal shelter. He was super excited to go look at the cats and really hoped there was one that spoke to him that he would want to take home.

“You sure about this?” Peter asked as he turned off the engine. “It’s a huge commitment.”

“I know but if Jackson can do it then so can I. I am fairly positive that I can handle a cat.” Okay so he admits there’s days he barely can take care of himself but it’s fine. It will be fine. And cats are freaking adorable.

Peter nodded his head yet he still seemed to ponder and perhaps had some concerns for some reason. “True but you do have a boyfriend now who is going to take up a lot more of your time.”

Oh God, was he being serious right now? “We already hang out a lot so I don’t think that the change of our label should change things much.”

“Yes, but we’ll engaging in other things. Other things that may take more time away from spending time with a cat.”

Stiles tried to hide the smile and the blush. He just knew what the alpha was implying and that having sex with one another could be rather time consuming. Turning to the face the other, Stiles just had to know the answer to the million-dollar question, “and just how much sex do you think we’re going to be having Hale?”

Peter looked back at him with a satisfied grin, “I’m an alpha with needs Bambi. I was hoping every day and maybe on occasion more than once a day.”

“Are you being serious right now? There is no way I can get fucked on the daily.” Nope, not having it. Even if he wanted to do that, he wouldn’t have the time nor the energy to put into such act between school and life in general.

He almost thought the older man was going to roll his eyes. “Fine, every other day?”

“You’re a horn dog Hale. I’ll let you know on that one but now,” he reached for the door handle to pop open the car door open. “Now, it’s time for kitties.”

“Okay, cat time it is.” The alpha followed and opened the door, “but just for the record, I’m going with daily blow jobs if the sex is too much.”’’

“Get out the car before I dump your horny ass.”

Picking out a cat was hard. There were so many options. There were young kittens, adult ones and senior cats. Then of course there were the various types of cats. Stiles did gravitate towards the orange ones but since Jackson already had a ginger, he didn’t want to copy. The brown tabbies were cute but they were also kind of a dime a dozen. He waffled on the black ones. They were beautiful but they did have a bad rap to no fault of their own.

He couldn’t decide and was beginning to think he may have to come back another day and then he noticed that Peter had been hovering by a cage for a while. The alpha would step away and then gravitate back to the same place.

Stiles was curious so he headed towards where the alpha was to see what cat had him so intrigued. “Look at it Bambi,” Stiles stared into the cage at the cutest black and white kitty. “It’s a tuxedo cat. It looks like it’s wearing a tuxedo. I think it’s after my own heart with his style.”

The omega chuckled. “Of course you would like a cat that is the most stylish.” It was cute and adorable. Stiles could not dispute that. “If you are so enamored by him, perhaps you should adopt it.”

Peter’s head toggled back and forth between Stiles and the feline. “Firstly, I don’t want a cat. Secondly, he may not get along with Cheddar, and thirdly,” he gestured his hand between himself and Stiles implying something – something Stiles wasn’t quite catching onto.

“All lies Hale. You so want a cat but what else are you trying to say?"

“You know,” he hesitated as he licked his bottom lip. “You might not always live with your father and…”, his voice trailed off.

Stiles stuck his index finger between the bars of the cage as the alpha spoke. This was the second time he has seen the big strong man get anxious telling Stiles something. It was sort of endearing. “Ah, I see. You think we might live together one day and you’ll end up with Mr. Tuxedo anyway.”

“Exactly.”

With the cat rubbing against his finger, Stiles pondered that thought. He hadn’t thought much about what their future might be like but he could see that. He could totally imagine the two of them getting their own place together. “Still think you should get your own cat but yeah okay. He’s cute and I have pretty much discounted all my other options.”

Once he signed and paid, Stiles was the proud new owner of a feline that was about nine months old. He put the box in the back of car just in case there was an accident and he didn’t want the baby being crushed by an air bag.

The next thing on the agenda was getting some more cat supplies and figuring out a name for it. Stiles stared out the window as he pondered. He still believed Ryan Gosling was the best choice thank you very much Peter. Yet the alpha convinced him it wasn’t the greatest when it came to a cat name so now he was stuck. “I can’t think of anything. Maybe I need to interact with him more.”

“I might have a perfect choice,” Peter grinned as Stiles lifted his head to look over at him. So far, the alpha had only come up with Sirs Purr A lot so he was a little weary as to what the man may say. “His name should be Gaston.”

Stiles shook his head. “Of course, you would come up with a name from Beauty and the Beast.”

“It’s a perfect name for him and it’s from one of the best movies ever.” The alpha really had a hard on for that animated flick.

“But he’s the bad guy.”

“Still a very good name.” He wasn’t sure if he agreed or not. It wasn’t the worst he supposes and he wasn’t having a lot of luck himself.

Still scrunched up his nose. “For now, we can see if it sticks but I still have total veto rights later.”

Once they got back to Stiles’ place, he opened up the box and the new kitten hopped out and began its investigation of every nook and cranny of the apartment as the two of them plopped down on the couch, knees knocking into on another.

“He’s probably going to be a handful.” Stiles sighed out as he noted a flash of black and white darting across the room with a mewl.

“Takes after you Bambi.” Stiles elbowed the alpha but he wasn’t totally wrong. “What time does your father get back?”

The omega side eyed the alpha, “dude, just brought home a brand-new cat. Not having sex with you right now.” He yearned to watch the feline play and just interact with him.

“I assumed that. I will watch Gaston as you get on your knees and blow me. It’s a good compromise.”

Stiles elbowed Peter even harder this time. “You’re impossible and have a one-track mind. We’ll get there, it’s just…” He wasn’t sure. Maybe he needs more time. He doesn’t believe the man would actually walk out again but he’s still a little cautious – doesn’t want to get hurt again.

“Hey,” Peter said gently as he turned to face Stiles. “I’m totally invested in us. I won’t do anything intentional to hurt you especially since my balls are on the line.” He smiled fondly and reached over to grab Stiles hand to hold it. “And just to be clear. I would still want to be with you even if you wanted to withhold sex from me forever.”

Stiles cocked his head and couldn’t help but smile back at the words. “Thanks, I did need to hear that. Yet Hale I appreciate the sentiment about being okay without ever having sex with me again but not sure if I totally believe that.”

“I should get an A for effort though, right?”

“Yes, yes.” Stiles eyes darted around to locate the cat who was now batting at loose thread dangling from a chair. “Maybe we can do something romantic?”

Peter nodded his head. “You’re right. We haven’t been on a proper date. I will rectify that immediately.”

Stiles plopped his head on Peter’s shoulder and sighed in contentment. “I would like that. Thanks, and I think he’s actually going to be home soon so probably wouldn’t have much time to do anything sexy anyway. Perhaps we could order some dinner?”

Peter didn’t answer right away, soft breaths blowing on top of his head. “Maybe he’s going to get boned by Argent this evening. I think you might be right that your father is getting dicked. He was walking a little funky the other day.”

“I knew it,” Stiles exclaimed. He wanted to jump and down but he was way to comfy resting on the alpha’s shoulder. “I just knew the man was getting some. He can deny all he wants. Thanks for validating me on that.” Stiles closed his eyes briefly and forced his lids back open. “And what about Jackson and Derek? You all are holding out on me and it’s not nice.” Plus, Stiles really wants to know.

Feeling Peter wrap his left arm around him and pull him closer to his side, Stiles began to melt more into the muscle. “I wasn’t informed of much other than I know they did exchange blow jobs after the wedding. Otherwise, I am being told that Derek is being dense and that Jackson isn’t being as obvious as he thinks he is so your guess is as good as mine at this point what is going on or what will happen.”

Well at least they exchanged orgasms so that was something – it was better than nothing he supposes. “Well okay. If you ask me, they are being oblivious idiots.”

“I know right? How can they not see what is right in front of them?”

Stiles can hardly imagine that. He could never …. Oh shit, maybe he was kind of dumb when it came to Peter. Well, whatever, they got their shit together so they are not that dumb anymore anyway.

The omega almost felt like he could fall asleep and then he noticed a flurry by his feet. Gaston was pawing at his shoes so yep, no time for a nap right now but perhaps he could have a little distraction. Maybe Peter wasn’t that far off base.

“You know maybe we could just make out a for bit until my dad gets home?”

“I do like where your head is at Bambi.”

Stiles sat up carefully in order not to head butt the alpha. Gaston scurried away under the coffee table with the action. The omega quickly made work of situating himself on Peter’s lap and immediately wrapped his hands behind the other’s neck. “To think we could have been doing this for so much longer Hale.”

Peter grinned with a appreciative nod and leaned up and pushed their lips together.

Stiles could definitely enjoy this for eternity.

Chapter Text

“What?, Peter asked as Jackson stared at him with his arms crossed, right brow arched. The man was clearly annoying but he still had a soft spot for him.

The alpha sighed out heavily. “Sounds like a lot of work,” he uncrossed his arms and shook his head. “I didn’t peg you for a romantic sap.”

He wasn’t. Or not really. “Stiles wants some romance. Are you going to help me or not?” He didn’t need this much shade coming from the other. He could pull it off himself but it would be easier with help.

“I am an asshole but not that much of an asshole. Can’t stand in the way of true love or what not.” Jackson acted like it was going to be a true annoyance but Peter could tell through his tone, he was itching to aid Peter in his little plan. “I will be making myself scarce and taking Cheddar with me. He does not and will never be subjected to whatever perverse things you two will get up to.”

The other alpha was such a hypocrite. God knows what he must get up to in front of that feline. “I assumed you would.” He didn’t want him around anymore than Jackson did. “Will you go to Derek’s? And anymore progress with my dense nephew?”

Lips curving upward, Jackson looked like a cat that ate the canary. “It’s me. You know I don’t fail a lot when I set my mind on something. I can be very determined and stubborn. Your nephew has been playing hard to get so I decided to play a little hardball. Got him to workout a few times with me. And,” he winked with a mischievous grin. “It’s not my fault that I get sweaty and had to take off my shirt. That my muscles were sweaty and glistening.”

Now it was Peter’s turn to shake his head. “Really? All it took was to flex some muscles and you had my nephew salivating? Does that mean you finally took him to bed?”

“Well…hand jobs were exchanged. Taking him to bed is the next plan and with you having your sappy romantic evening with Stiles, gives me the perfect opportunity to take that next step. I don’t think I’ll have to nudge too much. I’m confident that Derek wants a nice dicking.”

“Glad I could oblige in helping with your next step."

A few days later, Peter had his plan in motion. He picked Stiles up and ensured he wore something nice for going out to dinner. He knew not to take him anywhere extra fancy because he didn’t like nor appreciate places like that. But he also wanted to take him somewhere above diner level which he realized the omega would love just as much or not more.

So he landed on The Cheesecake Factory. He couldn’t go wrong there because Stiles loves dessert and they had a lot of desserts

“Oh my god, I’m so full,’ the omega patted his stomach as they approached Peter’s apartment door. ‘I might not be able to move for the rest of the night.”

That would be a pity and blow the rest of Peter’s plan into the water. He hoped the saying wasn’t too literal and once the boy steps inside, he might have a change of heart as well. “Doesn’t surprise me with how much dinner you ate and then the whole piece of cheesecake.”

“Can’t blame a guy. Wasn’t passing up all the chocolate decadence.” Peter nodded in understanding because yeah, he shoved in his whole slice too.

Turning the key in the lock, Peter opened the door and stepped aside to allow the omega to enter first. “And ”the boy started and then gasped. “Holy shit,” he whistled out as he walked inside taking in the apartment's insides.

Peter and Jackson had strung a bunch of fairy lights all over the living space and laid out rose pedals that led down the hall towards Peter’s bedroom. Peter also really wanted candles burning too but Jackson said leaving unattended candles was idiotic so the alpha had found some battery operated ones that were strewn around the room in several places.

Closing the door behind them, Peter watched as Stiles glided around still mesmerized by the scene. His stomach flip-flopped seeing the boy in aw. He paused and glanced over towards Peter with a soft smile, “you do all this?”

“I had some help but I’m sure he’ll refuse to admit that he is a pro romantic sap.”

Chuckling, Stiles shook his head. “And I assume said annoying and truly romantic sap is not here at the moment?”

Peter closed the gap between them and reciprocated the smile. “No, he packed up Cheddar and headed to Derek’s. He won’t be back until tomorrow.” They had all night if Stiles wanted and was up for it.

“Derek’s huh? Guess we won’t be the only ones getting lucky. I just hope they stop being idiots and that Derek finally gives me some details.”

“I do believe Jackson has a plan for my dense nephew, however,” Peter reached out and grabbed Stiles’ into his own. “I don’t want to talk about them anymore. I know you said you didn’t want to move for the rest of the night. We don’t have to do anything but I do want to show you my bedroom.”

The omega almost melted – knees somewhat buckling, shoulders softening with even a wider smile encompassing his face. “Wow okay, yes. And I’m sure I can be persuaded. Just need a few moments to process everything.”

Peter led him down to his room which was presented like the family area. Fairy lights hanging above, rose pedals scattered on his king sized bed and some battery operated candles set on his dresser and night stands.

“Fuck Hale,” he breathed out. “This is beautiful. And I see someone else is a sappy romantic. I don’t know what to say other than it was so not necessary but I do love it.”

The alpha squeezed the boy’s hand gingerly. “I just wanted to express that I mean it. Things sort of went off the rails a little the last time. And you wanted romance so I hope I delivered Bambi.”

“You did big time Hale.” Stiles released his hand and swiveled to meet Peter face to face. “You didn’t need to go so overboard but thank you so much. It means a lot that you want to make this so fucking special this time around.”

“Anything for you Bambi and I mean it.”

They sat on the bed for a while, leaning back on the headboard, legs stretched with their shoes off. They chatted as Stiles caressed the rose pedals through this fingers. It was nice and relaxing. Yes, Peter wanted to devour the boy – take his time with him and not rush and have things less messy than their previous experience. Yet, the soft chattering with their legs knocking into one another with contentment rolling off both of them; Peter was happy. If Stiles wanted to be like this with him for the rest of evening, Peter would be fine obliging the boy. He would be fine just chatting and inhaling the boy’s sugary sweet scent next to him.

“Going to hit up the bathroom,” Sties spliced through his thoughts as the omega climbed off the bed.

Peter took that time to untuck his shirt from his pants and then proceeded to unbutton it to get more comfortable. He was in the process of rolling up the sleeves when Stiles excited the en suite. Peter glanced over and noted the boy was completely naked except for the dark maroon boy shorts that clung to his ass beautifully. The alpha deeply swallowed as he took in the milky white skin dotted with a constellation of moles, “I think you forgot your clothes.”

Smiling mischievously, Stiles got back up on the bed and sat on his heels with a tilt of his head. “Didn’t forget. I’m ready but,” he bit his bottom anxiously as he eyes were slightly down casted. “Kind of nervous. I know we had sex already but this seems kind of different.”

He understood. He was a little nervous too. He didn’t want to fuck things up and he really wanted to take care of Stiles. Mirroring Stiles position, Peter got up and faced the boy. Cupping his cheek gently, he gave the omega a fond smile. “I get it. The last time was a rush of limbs and chaotic. It was wonderful but yes tonight is going to be more special. We can take our time and don’t have to do anything that will make you uncomfortable.”

The honey dew eyes met his accompanied with a more coy smile, the omega exhaled. “Thanks. I trust you and I just know tonight is going to be amazing. So take me alpha.”

And Peter didn’t have to be told twice.

It didn’t take long to remove the boy’s underwear and the rest of Peter’s clothing. Stiles was then on his back with legs splayed inviting Peter into his most intimate places. Being an omega, the boy didn’t need much prep – he would be slick and open for an alpha but he so enjoyed the foreplay too.

Yet, he did begin with two fingers right off. Sinking them into the velvet heat as Stiles moaned and arched his back. His hands clung to Peter’s biceps and begged for more as the alpha’s digits plunged deeper and rubbed against his inner walls.

Hearing the sweet begging and seeing the boy’s reactions, the alpha realized going slow was going to be challenging. His cock was rock hard and leaking. He was ready to stick it in the boy before he unloaded prematurely. “Bambi, I think I need to take the edge up. Will you be up for another round?” He really wanted to do it right but seeing the boy writhe on his fingers, now three deep, he didn’t think either of them would make it long.

“Fuck,” the boy yelled out with another arch to his back, legs clinging to Peter. “Yes please alpha. Just fuck me. Yes, we can do slow later.”

For the second time this evening, Peter didn’t have to be told twice. He pulled out his fingers and quickly lubed up his cock with the boy’s slick. The alpha knew Stiles was on birth control so didn’t need to worry about condoms. And as much as Noah might want grandbabies, neither he nor Stiles were ready for that.

With his dick ready, he then immaterially lined it up and pushed in with solidified moan of relief. Stiles felt amazing enveloping his hardened dick. It took some resolve to not move right away but he did want to ensure the boy had adjusted to the intrusion okay before moving. “It’s good…”he whispered out. “Please alpha.”

Peter was able to find some lucidity before he went further. He leaned down and kissed Stiles for a few moments. Pulling back, the boy almost pouted with the loss. He admired the wreck of the boy below him – a sheen of sweet drifting down his sides, flushed cheeks, and his big brown eyes almost blown. “I got you sweet omega.”

Then Peter began his onslaught of battering the boy’s insides, ensuring he hit his prostate each time. He would slightly pull out and then push deeper inside.

And as he expected, the climax was not going to take long to achieve. With a just a few more thrusts, Peter was coming inside the boy with a loud grunt as Stiles spilled his release on Peter’s stomach with a louder groan.

Waiting a few moments with some heavy breaths, Peter recovered enough to pull out and plop down next down to the younger man. Next round there would be more kissing and marking of his pretty skin. And maybe some edging. That could be fun.

Feeling the boy roll over and sidle up to him, Peter reached around with his arm and pulled him closer. “Sorry that was such a quickie.”

“Mmm, it’s okay alpha. It was still an orgasm, and..” his fingers caressed through his chest hair. “We have all night and the rest of our lives. Because you do realize you are stuck with me, right Hale?”

He could think of much worst fates. And he rather liked that idea very much. “Actually, I think you’re stuck with me.”

“Semantics but I do need a quick nap before round two,”

“Of course, take all the time that you need.”

After all, the boy made a good point – they have the rest of their lives especially now since they both got their heads out of the sand.

Chapter 20

Notes:

We made it to the end.

Thanks for joining me on this journey.

I kind of had trouble wrapping this up right at the end. I wanted a better ending sentence but my brain just went blah.

Chapter Text

8 Months Later

Stiles hummed in contentment as he curled up next to Peter on the sofa as he watched Gaston and Cheddar playfully bat at each other with their paws. It was so cute and endearing. Stiles had insisted on weekly playdates. Jackson said it was stupid but relented after Stiles wouldn’t stop annoying him about it.

Plus, it was way much easier to do so since living arrangements had changed. Jackson and Derek were living together and recently got married. Mr. Argent (still a hot as hell DILF) or please call me Chris moved in with his dad. Stiles heard some rumblings that those two were potentially talking about marriage. His dad was worried that Stiles might not take it well but he was giddy for his dad. He wanted the beta to be happy and if Chris did that, he wasn’t going to stand in the way. Plus his dad was getting dicked on the regular.

And of course, Stiles moved in with Peter after the alpha proposed to him. It was beautiful. Not roses all over the apartment type thing but he had proposed to Stiles in a pretty little park amongst a garden. And yeah, Stiles may have shed a few tears when the alpha got down on one knee.

Twiddling with his diamond embedded gold engagement ring, Stiles smiled. “Still kind of annoys me those two idiots got married before us.”

“Well,” Peter rubbed his right arm in a soothing gesture. “You want a big wedding and they didn’t.”

It was true. Stiles has been planning for something big and somewhat extravagant. He’s got all the flowers picked out and his white pants suit. The venue is locked in as well as the guest list. As for Jackson and Derek, it was a quickie at City Hall with Peter and Stiles as their witnesses.

Talia hadn’t been thrilled with the quickness and the lack of grandeur so she insisted and Derek relented with having a huge wedding party in their honor. It is to be held tomorrow at the Hale house and then they were off on their much-delayed honeymoon. Therefore, Peter and Stiles have Cheddar for the week.

“I know but still…” Stiles adjusted himself to stretch out more. “It’s annoying. And speaking of, Jackson actually said this to me the other day. He was like Stilinski, Derek and I are going to want kids one day and you have a uterus we want to use. I mean like seriously?”

He wasn’t totally opposed to helping his friends out but like really? It was a little crass but he really shouldn’t have been surprised. The alpha was still irritating even with being married now.

“Jackson is not coming within ten feet of your uterus” Peter practically growled.

Stiles couldn’t help but chuckle. “Yeah well, maybe one day I could help them out but you know, I kind of envision the first baby I carry would be ours.”

Feeling a brush of lips on the top of his head, Stiles sighed. “I would love that very much too.” They had broached the subject of kids like yeah one day but they hadn’t spoken much more about it. The thought is nice but way out in the future if you ask Stiles.

“Hey, this is changing the subject and going back to the wedding. Do you think it would be odd to serve pizza and curly fries? Of course we can have some of your obnoxious champagne too.”

“You know Bambi. It’s our wedding so we can serve whatever the hell we want.”

Stiles fist pumped with excrement, “yes!” it was going to be an amazing wedding.

There were a lot of people in attendance at Jackson and Derek’s wedding party. Too many people if you asked Stiles. He could understand why Derek wanted something less subdued at City Hall. His mother probably would have invited the whole town of Beacon Hills to his nuptials.

And shit, he wonders if Talia might want that for her brother? He is not sure he can deal with the suffocation of that many people.

Pushing that daunting thought aside, he walked around the house, smiling at people he didn’t know until he spotted Jackson. He was smiling and acting cordial but he suspected underneath that he probably wasn’t exactly thrilled to be here and having to put on a happy face.

Waiting for an opening, Stiles pounced and side hugged the alpha. “I still cannot believe you were able to bag Clark Kent.”

“Did you really have any doubts? It’s me and I always get what I want.” The alpha grinned at Stiles. The man truly was happy.

Looking at the enamored alpha, Stiles couldn’t help but smile back. “Yeah, but he’s my best friend so don’t fuck things up with him or I’ll have to punch you. Well maybe, I’ll have Peter punch you.” Stiles knew his limits. He wasn’t that stupid.

Chuckling, Jackson shook his head. “Relax little fawn. Your fearless alpha has already given me the talk. And he enjoyed it way too much. Payback and all that shit.”

“Good.” Stiles eyes looked around. “Want to go find your hubby now. Send my condolences and shit.”

“You’re hysterical.” He shooed Stiles away. “And when you find him, tell him I either want to leave or he has to blow me in the bathroom. I’m getting too stressed and it’s the least he can do for me.”

Wrinkling his nose, Stiles was so not going to say that.

After maneuvering around some guests and few quick chats along the way, Stiles was able to finally locate Derek. He appeared to be suffering as much as Jackson was. His posture however relaxed once he saw Stiles approaching. ‘Long night?” He asked his friend who quickly finished the drink he had in his hand.

“Yeah. This is mostly why I didn’t want a big wedding but thankfully it’s almost over and then we’re off on our honeymoon.”

The twinkle in his hazel eyes and the smile indicated that Derek was also very happy. “I’m so happy for you Der. Glad you found that someone. You have always deserved it.”

“You too Sti. Happy for you and my uncle. Hard to believe that you two were idiots for so long.”

Pushing on the alpha’s chest with his palm, the man didn’t waver. Stupid alpha strength. “Yeah well, I’m stubborn and your uncle is stupid but we figured it out and will be like your dumb self soon. Happily married.”

“And you’re going to be sickening sweet.” His friend looked amused. “Now, as much as I would love to just chat with you. I still have a few people I must engage with or I will never hear the end of it from my mother.”

“Yeah, go on. I’ll talk to you later and want details from the honeymoon. Not every detail but enough to drive my alpha-on-alpha porn fantasies.”

Derek sputtered and shook his head. He waved away Stiles request as he returned to being social amongst the guests.

He did feel a little bad for the newlyweds since it was rather stifling. At least he wasn’t required to be social so he made his way to the back deck. He slid the sliding glass door behind him closed and strolled towards the banister. Leaning on the wooden beam, he sighed out as he overlooked the backyard remembering when Laura and Jordan were married in this space.

It had been beautiful, quaint, and almost magical with all the fairy lights.

Recollecting the day and being lost in his brain, he hadn’t heard Peter approach. Feeling the man’s arms wrap around his waist, he sunk into his alpha’s embrace where he felt safe and love. “Penny for your thoughts Bambi.”

“It’s just chaotic right now. I feel for Jackson and Derek. Well mostly Derek. Jackson is still annoying and deserves a little suffering.”

He shivered as he felt the hot breath from Peter’s snort on his neck hairs. “I don’t want to make my nephew a widow but…”

Elbowing the older man in his gut, Stiles shook his head. “Remember no ghost, Jackson. He will be worse than an alive one. I was thinking though. Maybe the two of them had the right idea.”

He spun around in Peter’s arms who cocked his right brow with a questioning look. “I mean not City Hall. It’s just I almost feel our wedding might become the next royal wedding if your sister gets her way. But here like Laura and Jordan did. It was quainter. It was nice and actually really beautiful.”

Peter looked at him fondly. “You’ve already invested so much time and effort in planning. And she’s still going to sink her claws in and be overbearing no matter where we decide to marry.”

“Yeah, I know but this place is smaller. We’ll have to limit the guest list and she can’t go completely over the top. And,” Stiles reached out to tangle his fingers in his alpha’s nice dress shirt and encouraged him to move closer. “Those two idiots are on cloud nine right now and are going on their honeymoon. I just don’t think I want to wait to marry you any longer Hale than I have to.”

The older man leaned in and brushed his lips against Stiles. “Whatever you want to do, I’m on board. We can wait; we can elope tomorrow or have the ceremony here. Just know it will be a hard sell with her regarding pizza and curly fries.”

“We’ll figure it out together.”

They leaned in and brushed their lips together. Leaning back, to look at his alpha with a fondness, the glass door opened, “hey love birds,” Laura called out. “Mom wants everyone.”

They both rolled their eyes at the interruption, yet they nodded their heads. “Will be right there.” Peter called out to his niece.

Stiles saw her disappear back inside, “I’m calling it. She’s totally preggers with Jordan’s baby.”

“Hmm, “Peter reached out and grabbed his hand, interlocking their fingers with each other. “She does seem like she’s been glowing a lot lately. You could be right.”

They were going to have some cute babies and perhaps Stiles could babysit sometimes. That could be a good way to help him prepare for his own kids one day. “Well,” he sighed out. “Guess we need to head inside and then hopefully we can leave soon.” He was ready to relax and spend some time with the cats.

“I like where your mind is at Bambi. We can go home and wind down with sexy times.” He cocked his brow with a smirk as he tugged on Stiles hand to encourage him to go towards the sliding glass doors.

He couldn’t help but snicker since they both had opposite thoughts. “Always in the gutter Hale. I was more thinking about hanging out the cats.”

“I would rather make you purr.” His tone was laced with seduction and truthfully, it was going to cause him to leak a little between his legs. He could possibly get on board with sexy times.

“You know how Jackson gets with anything perverted happening in front of his cat.”

“It’s a damn cat Stiles. Who’s he going to tell?” Peter made a very good point but it was still fun to toy with the alpha.

Ducking his head, he couldn’t help but chuckle out loud. “Okay, fair. We can do both. Play with the cats and with each other.”

“Deal,” Peter smiled mischievously.

It was totally not his idea of making a video of Cheddar accompanied with the sound of the two of them moaning in the background that was sent to Jackson after he returned from his honeymoon.

Stiles was denied having playdates with the cat for a month.

It was never a dull moment being with Peter and Stiles could not wait to marry him in three months.
