Work Text:
It was a warm summer night tonight.
Walking through the dark nightly forest was Duster, heading to a secluded spot in forest to meet up with Teddy.
They've only recently started dating each other awhile back, but earlier during the day today, Teddy had asked him to come meet him in the forest once night fell, wanting to tell Duster something important. Though Duster was confused on why Teddy was so instant on telling him at night in the forest, but regardless he agreed to meet Teddy there.
So here Duster was now, walking through the dark nightly forest, the only sounds accompanying him being the crickets chirping alongside owls hooting.
He looked up at the night sky to see the full moon in swing, the only light source helping him guide through the dark forest. Though Duster was mostly familiar with the terrain, he was now regretting not bring a light source with him but he was already too far in to go back.
Thankfully Duster had managed to reach the secluded spot Teddy had asked him to meet him at without any trouble. There weren't many trees here, allowing the moon's light to be illuminated onto the grass and moss covered rocks below.
Duster looked to see Teddy standing by the edge of a cliff, it was a spot where they both frequently sat at together whenever they came here during the day.
Teddy had his back turned towards Duster but felt his presence once Duster walked towards him. "You came." "Of course I did, this sounded pretty important." Teddy gave a small nod soon followed by a few seconds of awkward silence.

"So what is it that you wanted to tell me?" Duster asked, breaking the short silence. Teddy turned around to face Duster, he seemed hesitant but took a breath before starting.
"I want you to close your eyes." Duster found the request odd but complied, shutting his eyes.
Suddenly the sounds of the crickets chirping and owls hooting stopped, leaving the area almost dead silent.
The only noise Duster could hear was the sudden breeze blowing by, but just as suddenly as it started, it calmed down.

"Duster..." Teddy finally called, causing Duster to open his eyes, what he saw left him stunned.
Standing in front of him in place of Teddy was still Teddy but now as a gray wolf standing on his hind legs. The moon's light, illuminating Teddy's furry figure as Duster stared at him.
"What do I look like?" Teddy asked as he looked into Duster's eyes, but what he saw wasn't fear or disgust, just genuine awe at what he was witnessing.
Duster walked over to Teddy, he didn't move as Duster held his hands out before gentling cupping Teddy's muzzle. "The same old Teddy I've grown to love." Duster finally responded, Teddy let out a sigh of relief he didn't even know he was holding.
Teddy rested his eyes as he melted into Duster's hands, Duster feeling Teddy's surprisingly soft fur as his thumb rubbed his muzzle.
"So that gang of werewolves people have been talking about, you're apart of it?" Duster asked, stopping, Teddy opened his eyes again to look at Duster before responding.
"Yes but more so because I'm their leader." "You're their what." Duster paused, letting this information sink in.
"I know it's alot but I figured that since we where both dating now, it was best I told you sooner better than later. I'm sorry I hid this from you.." Teddy aplogized, looking a bit guilty that he was hiding this from Duster. "No no! I understand, if I was in the same position I probably would to..." Duster reasured, giving Teddy a small smile.
Teddy smiled back, he couldn't have asked for a much better boyfriend.
Duster then proceeded to wrap his arms around Teddy, pulling him into a kind gentle hug, resting his head on Teddy's fur covered chest. Teddy took a second before carfully wrapping his arms around Duster as well, resting his head ontop of his.
Though tonight wasn't particularly freezing, Duster could feel the warmth Teddy's fur covered body provided. Feeling Teddy's surprisingly soft fur against his freezing skin just made Duster snuggle more into Teddy. Teddy noticed but let Duster be, hugging him close Teddy whispered.
"I love you Duster..." Duster pulled his head away, looking at Teddy before responding. "I love you too Teddy..."
Teddy looked into Duster's eyes and vice-versa. Teddy could see Duster's beautiful heterochromatic eyes shining in the moonlight. A single blue eye, beautiful as a shining blue moon, a single brown eye, beautiful like the brown wooded trees in the forest.
Before either of them knew it, they both started to lean their heads towards each other. But before their lips could lock, a howl was heard in the far distance, with more joining soon joining it. This caught Teddy and Duster's attention, more so Teddy as his ear shot up as he scanned the area. Duster looked a little concerned as he looked where Teddy was looking, though he couldn't see anything he knew Teddy sensed something.
Teddy then seem annoyed but turned his attention back towards Duster, "You should start heading home. There are other packs that come around here some nights, and chances are you'll be targeted even with me here." Teddy informed, still annoyed that this was a the reason their moment was interrupted.
Though it upset Duster a bit he understood why he had to go, knowing Teddy was just looking out for his safety. "I'll walk you till we get close to the entrance, just in case." Teddy said, Duster nodding and soon him and Teddy started making their way back.
.
.
.
It wasn't long until they reached their destination, mostly part due to Teddy's night vision guiding them both through the dark forest, plus him being more familiar terrain than Duster, but anyway.
The lights of civilization where seen coming into view, Duster stepped out of the forest while Teddy remained where he was. "You're not coming?" He asked, Teddy shook his head. "No, my pack needs me but I'll be back before sunrise." He assured, though it worried Duster a bit, he trusted Teddy's word.
"Okay, but please don't get hurt if you run into any trouble though." "I'll try my best but no promises." Teddy rebuttaled with a smirk, causing Duster to sigh but still smile, seeing Teddy be Teddy. "I'll see you tomorrow then." "Yeah, see you tomorrow." And with that, they both parted ways.
Duster however looked back to see Teddy heading back into the forest, he continued to watch until Teddy's figure fully dissappeared back into the forest. Once Duster could no longer see him, he started making his way back home.
Once back home, Duster lied on his bed, playing back tonight's events but soon a realization hit him like a truck, "I'm dating a hood werewolf."
