The first event of the Scare Games had been eventful, to say the least. The RORs won, obviously. And Oozma Kappa… didn’t lose.
Having all been amused at the fraternities failure (and all their members managing to get stung by urchins), when it had been announced that they would be allowed back into the games, it left something to be desired. But everyone had already moved on to talking about the stunt JOX had tried to pull with the illegal ‘protection gel’.
Johnny Worthington didn’t spend much time thinking about the other fraternity that was Oozma Kappa. It would be a waste to have his thoughts linger on a team that wouldn’t even make it past the second event.
Right now, he’d rather fester in his own win. He didn’t do too bad in the first event, having gotten first place and all. He thinks he deserves something.
Johnny spotted the treasurer of the Greek Club—who was currently assisting the Scare Games medical team—Leasa Larv. And he decided it would be a good time to visit his favorite member of the Greek Club.
Leasa was far too preoccupied with prepping things for the medical team then to take notice of Johnnys arrival in front of the booth they had set up near the finish line.
“Evening, Larv.”
“Johnny.” Leasa acknowledges but hardly pays him any mind, all four arms working diligently, arranging papers and packing up boxes.
“A moment of your time?” Johnny asked, and Leasa remained quiet and slowed down listened; her signal for him to spit out whatever he wanted and quick before she decides otherwise. “I think I got a bit bruised up back there, you wouldn’t mind taking a look, would you?”
“You’re fine.” Leasa insisted without even checking. She knew Johnny Worthington didn’t get hurt during the Scare Games. And if he did he wouldn’t let anyone know.
Johnny leaned over the table with a smug smile. “I don’t think denying a participant proper medical attention is allowed, Larv.”
Leasa glared at him. Johnny held out his arm for her to look over, and begrudgingly she pulled up his sweater sleeve and inspected it. She hated every second of it—her wings twitching in annoyance—just knowing this was wasting her time when she had other things to do, like checking the cost of the EpiPens for the toxic urchins, knowing how many they’d have to spend on the idiots that were Oozma Kappa.
Johnny, for one, liked seeing her focused. She was the only monster he knew that could do something and do it right.
Johnny looked away while she worked, a pleasant expression on his face, knowing he got exactly what he wanted as he focused on the feeling of her touching his arm. He looks over at Oozma Kappa, who had all but admitted defeat until Brock had (unfortunately) announced they had been reinstated back into the games. “Can you believe that? The sheer luck. They won’t last another day.”
“If Jaws Theta Chi had hid their bottle of protection gel better, then they wouldn’t have gotten luck.” Her words were harsh and crude. Leasa was among the many monsters who didn’t think Oozma Kappa stood any sort of chance at winning the games.
“Was it you?” Johnny asked, having noted Leasa flying up to the stands just before Brock had made his announcement.
“Hm?” Leasa glances at him in mild confusion.
“Were you the one that found the bottle?” He clarifies.
“It’s my job to enforce the rules as a participating member of the Greek Club.” Leasa stated. Any other monster would have allowed the bottle to go unnoticed, letting JOX go free with their crime had it meant eliminating Oozma Kappa for good.
Suddenly, Leasa pulls her hands away, seemingly done with tending to him like a child.
“How many days do I have left, doc?” Johnny joked, and it did not land.
Leasa, having finished her inspection, was not any more happy than she was before he approached her. In fact, she feels worse. Maybe she’s the one that needs a doctor. “Like I said before; you’re fine .” She said it a little more clearly this time, in case it goes in and out his ears again.
Without another word, Leasa grabbed a box of EpiPens and went to go help the medical team sedate Oozma Kappa. Johnny watched her go, and glanced down at his arm knowing nothing had actually happened to him because Johnny Worthington doesn’t get hurt during the Scare Games. He pulled down his sleeve and went to join up with the rest of his fraternity.
