Work Text:
Auradon Prep, Friday
It was just another day in Auradon Prep with the sun shining, the kids holding backpacks and books and schoolwork to be done during the day, but today was different because of all the heart shaped decorations that has splattered all over the walls of the school. Plus cards, candies and cookies being gifted by the male students to the female students. Some are even wearing red and pink clothing. This makes one of the students confused as he never seen so many hearts since his mother's salon. That student is none other than Quincy, the son of the Queen of Hearts. He's currently walking through the hallway witnessing everything taking place.
"What the heck is all this?" He said with furrowed eyebrows.
He looks to find his friend somewhere in all this heart crazed situation as he claims. Luckily, he found Jordan and Audrey as they were passing around boxes that's red with pink frilling on the edges from a stand that's setup near the gymnasium.
"Hey Jordan! Audrey!" Quincy said.
"Hey Quincy!" Jordan and Audrey said.
"Whatcha doing?" Quincy asked.
"Passing out candy for Valentine's Day. Everyone's ordered them a week prior to today." Audrey said.
"Valentine's Day?" Quincy asked.
"Oh right, you're probably not familiar with the holiday." Audrey said.
Jordan then answered the question. "Valentine's Day is all about love. It celebrates romance and everyone expresses it through flowers, cards and candy."
"That's definitely the opposite of what the Isle represents." Quincy said.
"And it's funny how you mentioning, being the Prince of Hearts yourself." Jordan joked.
"When it comes to hearts, I usually break 'em." Quincy said.
"Oooh, sounds like you've had admirers in the past." Jordan smirked.
"Hardly. I was too busy pranking to let anyone get close to my heart." Quincy said.
"So you never had like a crush on somebody?" Audrey asked.
"Well…can't think of anyone." Quincy said.
"Are you sure?" Jordan asked with an arched brow with the same smirk. "Not one kid from the Isle of the Lost? Or what about here in Auradon?"
Quincy's face was now as red as his hair. "Uhhh, no way. I don't do romance. So, I think I'm gonna find Chad in this crowd." He now walks off.
The two girls watch him and they looked at each other before chuckling.
"He's definitely thinking of somebody." Jordan said.
"No surprise. Everyone has a crush, even someone like him." Audrey said.
"Wonder who though?" Jordan asked.
"Hmmm…" they both wondered.
Student Lounge
Quincy decides to spend his free time in the student lounge since his Magical History class was canceled due to the teacher, Fairy Godmother, wanting to help decorate for the Valentine's Dance tonight. He lays in his favorite beanbag chair on his phone watching an anime he's never heard of. Suddenly, a scene is showing of a boy and a girl looking sad at each other.
"But Annie, why won't you be with me? I know you feel the same way." The boy said.
"My parents won't approve of you. You're a peasant and I'm of royalty. A princess even. I'm to be with someone of the same status as my family. I have to keep up with appearances." Annie said.
"But what about how you feel? Doesn't that mean anything?" The boy said.
"Ethan, don't make this any harder than it has to be." Annie said, but tears up.
"I can't help it, everytime I look at you, my heart beats faster. When you're away from me, you're all I think about." Ethan said.
"Please stop." Annie said.
"I love you, Annie!" Ethan said holding onto Annie. "Don't you love me?"
"Oh Ethan, why must you make this hard?" Annie said now full on crying.
"Annie, please." Ethan said moving his hands to hers. "I want to hear you say it."
Annie looks at their joined hands, but regretfully pulls hers away. "I can't!" She now runs away.
"Annie!" Ethan said dropping to his knees.
Quincy looks at the scene and just then, a tear drops from his right eye. Suddenly, Mal and the other VKs stopped by and that's when they noticed Quincy. He quickly wiped his tear away before they noticed.
"Hey, Quincy! What are you doing here?" Mal asked.
"Um, my class was canceled, something about Fairy Godmother decorating for this dance tonight." Quincy answered.
"Oh, right, the Valentine's Dance." Evie said.
"Can you believe there's a holiday that celebrates all that mushy-gushy stuff?" Jay asked.
"Of course I can, it's Auradon. It's all about love and positivity." Freddie said.
"I'm just not feeling anything of the sorts." Jay said.
"You're just bummed cause Audrey won't give you the time of day." Carlos said smirking.
"Oh yeah? What about you, buddy-boy?" Jay said.
He roughs up Carlos's white hair while holding him in a neck hold.
"Ah, Jay, cut it out!" Carlos said.
The girls rolled their eyes while Quincy just stared with a full expression.
"Very attractive." Quincy said in a dull tone.
Had enough of the nonsense before them, Mal waves her hand and a green glow surrounds it and the glow shoots at the two boys, making them glow and separates them. Mal then waves her hand down and Jay and Carlos fell face flat down on the floor.
"That's better." Freddie said.
"So anyways, are you going to the dance?" Evie asked.
"I don't know about that?" Quincy said in a questioning tone. "Honestly, it's just not doing it for me. It's not like I have a date or anything."
"Come on, Quincy. You don't need a date to go to a dance." Mal said.
"Says the one with the king boyfriend." Quincy mentions.
Mal's expression widen, then Quincy looks to Evie. "And Princess over here is dating a dwarf." He looks at Carlos. "Even the shortest of them all has a girlfriend."
"You're not wrong there." Freddie said.
"Hmm, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you wish you could find a date." Evie said.
"Yuck, I do not." Quincy said. "Dates are a waist of time."
"That's how I felt before until I met Ben." Mal said.
"And it all worked out for you, so congratulations." Quincy said, a little irritated.
Mal, Evie and Freddie looked with concern, and the boys too when the spell wore off.
"Are you sure everything's ok, Quincy?" Evie asked.
"Fine! Peachy! Wonderful! It's not like I'm upset or anything!" Quincy shouted.
"Woah, calm down there!" Jay said holding his hands up.
"You calm down!" Quincy yelled.
But then he paused and looked at his friends who were spooked by his outburst. He stood up, looked around til his found his backpack and makes his way out.
"I gotta go." He said quietly.
He makes a run for it until the Student Lounge was out of view. He stops when he's close to the entrance. He takes a breath and finds a place to seat at on a nearby bench. He bows his head into his hands, then he squeezes them into his head when he moved them behind it.
"Ugh!" Quincy growled.
He takes a deep breath and contemplates what had just happened a minute ago. He looks at the random couples walking by holding hands, some with a box of chocolates they've gotten from Jordan and Audrey, and others with flowers. Quincy looks onto them and he just feels nothing but miserable. The why isn't hard to figure out. He's just accept that no matter what, he's always going to feel alone, even with his friends who are in relationships of their own. Sometimes he just feels like the out one out. He never really let anyone knows he real feelings, at least that was the case until he came to Auradon.
Little by little, he feels comfortable talking with people and making friends, he even lets loose around them and he could talk with them about anything. But when it comes to love, that's a different story. Quincy finally gets up and makes his way until he found himself bumping into someone else. He got pushed back on his back side by an unknown person.
"Ouch!" He said holding his head with his right hand. "That hurt."
"I'm so sorry." A voice said.
A hand reaches out to Quincy, who opens his eyes and looks up to see who it was that bumped into him. It was a boy, a 17 year old boy. He has almond tone skin, dark brown hair that goes down to his neck, broad shoulders and biceps, but not as big as Herkie's. And he's 2 inches taller than Quincy. He's wearing a golden yellow Henley shirt, black jeans, and brown shoes. Quincy stares at him until he accepts his hand and the boy pulls him up.
"Thanks." Quincy said.
"You're not hurt, are you?" The boy said.
"No. A bump like that can't break me so easily."
"For real? You sure look kinda frail."
Offended, Quincy scoffed. "Excuse me?"
"Don't take it so personally, I'm just stating the facts."
"Well, I like to state the fact that you're obviously blind." Quincy said even more irritated.
"Geez, can't you take a joke?"
"I'm in no mood for jokes, I'm already angry enough!" Quincy said.
"Take a chill pill, dude." The boy said.
"That's Quincy to you!" He introduced himself.
"Sure, whatever." The boy said. "By the way, I'm looking for my sister, you haven't seen her, have you?"
"Well how can I know if you never told me her name?" Quincy said with an angry mark on his forehead.
"You really need to calm down." He said.
That just set Quincy off since this is the second time someone told him to calm down. "You did not just tell me that!" He yelled.
"Pierre!" A girl voice said.
They both turned to the voice. It belonged to Emeri, the daughter of Esmeralda and Phoebus, who's a student of Auradon Prep and Quincy sometimes does her hair whenever he has some time he can spare. She came running towards them and got between them while looking at the boy.
"Oh, hey Emeri." He said.
"Pierre, are you causing trouble again?" Emeri said.
"Wait." Quincy said. "You know him?"
"Unfortunately, yes. Quincy, this is Pierre, my brother." Emeri said,
"HE'S your brother?." Quincy said emphasizing the word he's.
"I'm so sorry if he said anything to make you mad. He just doesn't get how his words affect people around him." Emeri explains to Quincy.
"I kinda figured it out."
"You know this dork, Em?" Pierre said chuckling a bit.
"DORK?!" Quincy said,
"Pierre!" Emeri warned him.
"My bad." Pierre said as he holds out a wide looking white bag and gives it to Emeri. "Mom wanted me to give you this."
"Oh, my dress! Thank goodness!" Emeri said.
"Your dress?" Quincy said.
"For the Valentine's Dance." Emeri explained.
"Oh, that."
"Aren't you going?" She asked Quincy.
"I don't think it's my thing." Quincy said.
"Couldn't get a date, could you?" Pierre wondered. "No surprise with the way you are."
"Run that by me again?" Quincy said in his threatening voice.
"You guys, please." Emeri said.
Quincy stops himself and takes a deep breath. "I'll see you later, Emeri. I need to cool off." He walks off past Pierre and Emeri until he disappeared around a corner while Emeri gives a stern look to Pierre.
"What?" Pierre asked.
As he was walking away, Quincy still had the angry look he was sporting after his encounter with Pierre.
"Smug jerk. Who does he think he is, saying I'm the problem?" Quincy muttered.
Flashback, The Isle of the Lost, 4 years ago….
A younger Quincy and another kid are laughing as they were running away from an angry mob of kids from the Isle of the Lost. Young Quincy and the other kid ducked into an alley while the mob ran past it. The two kids laughed after their successful maneuvering away from them.
"That was a close one." Quincy said.
"I'll say, they were mad." The kid said.
"Next time, let's hide while watching them trip the wire."
"Agreed."
They started to laugh again.
Present
Quincy hangs out in his and Chad's room when school's out for the day when suddenly, he received a text from Chad.
"Dude, come out to the Tourney Field, I need you to keep score! I'm trying to win a bet!" Chad texted.
After giving this a short thought, Quincy shrugged his shoulders and replies, "Sure, I'm on my way."
Tourney Field
Quincy made it to the Tourney Field and can see Chad's blond hair in an instant, but then he sees another boy bigger than him facing Chad.
"Alright, I'm here. So what's this about a bet?" Quincy shouted as he gets closer.
"Bout time. But check it, I'm about to play against this guy from the Notre Dame tourney team. We've been rivals for a while but from time to time, we would bet to see who's the best and we would also play for money." Chad said.
"How many time you've won?" Quincy asked.
"Well….thats not important." Chad said looking sideways.
Quincy grins at Chad's face. "Oh, I see." Quincy then laughs.
"So, are you gonna judge us or not?" Chad said blushing.
"Alright, no need to get in a hissy fit." Quincy said.
"Cool, then let's get started." Chad said.
Chad leads Quincy over to the bleachers, where the boy is waiting for him.
"So, Quincy, I want you to meet…"
But before Chad can say his name, Quincy looks at the boy alarmed. It was someone he already unfortunately met before.
"Pierre." Quincy said sternly.
That's right, the boy is none other than Pierre, son of Esmeralda and Phoebus, older brother of Emeri and irritation of Quincy. Pierre sees Quincy and already, he's got that smug look on his face.
"Hey, Tea Kettle." Pierre grinned.
"Wait, you know each other?" Chad asked Quincy.
"This jerk got on my bad side this morning." Quincy said. "Said I was frail, telling me to calm down."
"I'm not the one with anger issues, my guy." Pierre said.
"Don't 'my guy' me, I don't know you like that." Quincy said with an arch brow.
"That's cause you never gave me the chance. You were just too busy acting like you're the most important person in the world. You ain't no one special, you're just like the rest of us." Pierre said.
"Oh no, you didn't! First of all, you don't know me and second, you don't know the kind of life I lived." Quincy said.
"Quincy!" Chad said holding Quincy back with both arms.
Pierre laughs.
"What's so funny?" Quincy yelled.
"You just look so funny when you're mad." Pierre said.
"I'll show you mad!" Quincy said trying to get out of Chad's hold on him.
"Quincy, stop!" Chad gritted through his teeth.
"Alright, alright. Let's all ca…I mean, chill." Pierre said, trying to watch what he said next.
Eventually, Quincy takes a deep breath and when it looked like all is good, Chad lets go of him.
"You cool." Chad asked.
"Like a cucumber." Quincy said lowly.
"Ok, well now that that's settled, I think I'm up for a game." Pierre said, getting his tourney stick.
Chad also went for his stick also and they both go to the center of the field on opposite.
"So, how much we waging this time?" Chad asked.
"Well, let's see. If you win, $20 is all yours." Pierre said.
"Sounds good! My wallet needs some company." Chad said.
"But let's make this interesting for if I win." Pierre said.
"What, like $50?" Chad asked.
"No money needed, but if I win, I get Quincy for the Valentine's Dance." Pierre smirked.
Shocked expressions washed over Chad's face, but Quincy's the most after hearing Pierre's wages.
"WHAT?!" They both said.
"I'm volunteering to chaperone the dance, that's the main reason why I'm hear. Need it to look good on college applications. Another buddy of mine was supposed to do it with me, but he got sick. So I'm in need of another one. If I win, Cherry Boy has to co-chaperone with me." Pierre said.
"ARE YOU FOR REAL RIGHT NOW?!" Quincy shouted. "Chad, do not agree! I won't do it!"
"Huh." Chad said, having to think for a moment but then gets a cocky smile on his face. "Deal."
Quincy's mouth formed an O at Chad's acceptance on Pierre's terms. "CHAD, I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU SAID YES! WHAT IF YOU LOSE?!"
"Don't worry, Q! I got this handle." Chad said.
"THAT'S NOT REASSURING!" Quincy shouted angrily.
Pierre chuckles. "Best 2 out of 3 wins."
"You're on." Chad said.
Quincy's expression goes to worry, but tries to remain positive. "Maybe it won't be so bad.
3 minutes later
Quincy's face remained stuck on his shocked expression as the total score of the game is 3 points for Pierre and 0 for Chad. Pierre walks back to the bleachers to get his stuff, but then after turns to Quincy, who was still looking straight ahead.
With a smirk on his face, Pierre said to him, "Make sure you look nice for tonight. Don't wanna be looking all rough." And with that, he walks off laughing.
Quincy's face is still the same but Chad then walked to him with guilt on his face, including a sorry smile.
"So, I know that was bad, but at least I tried to do my best." Chad chuckled nervously.
Quincy finally turns his head to the left to see Chad and then anger took over. "HOW COULD HE WON 3 POINTS?! THAT'S NOT HOW THE GAME WORKS?!"
Chad, scared for his life, tried to defend himself by saying, "Well, when he got 2 points, he made a deal that if I can score once, then I win."
"AND YOU COULDN'T MAKE ONE HIT?!" Quincy yelled.
"I'm sorry!" Chad said with a sad look.
"Great, I didn't even wanna go to this thing, but now thanks to you, I gotta!" Quincy said pinching his nose with his eyes closed.
"Well, look at the bright side." Chad said.
Quincy turns to Chad waiting for the answer.
"We're both not gonna be alone for the dance?" Chad said trying to smile.
Quincy growled at him, scaring Chad.
Gymnasium, 7:00
The school's gym is packed with students wearing red, pink and white suits and dresses, some are which Evie designed. Like for example, Evie's dress is mostly red with a pink cardigan. Mal's dress is hot pink, Carlos is wearing a dark red suit with a pink dress shirt. And Jay is wearing a white suit and a red dress shirt. Freddie is also wearing a magenta dress with pastel pink long sleeve gloves.
"This is looking really festive so far." Jay said.
"Yeah, I haven't seen this much red since the Queen of Hearts' salon." Mal said.
"Even so, looks like your standard prep school party." Freddie said.
"But it's still looks fun." Evie said. "I can't wait to dance to Doug."
"Ben's gonna be here a little late, he's just coming out from a meeting with Ariel's sisters." Mal said.
"Jane's helping with the music, but she'll save the last dance for me." Carlos chuckled.
"I heard there's a special reward for the couple that has the most romantic dance out of everyone." Evie said.
"Sounds like that reward should go to me and Ben then." Mal said cheekily.
"That's cute, M, but me and Doug are gonna take that prize." Evie said.
"May the best couple win." Mal said.
"Put it there." Evie said holding her hand out.
Mal takes it and shakes it with hers.
"Um, you forget about me and Jane?" Carlos said.
Jay puts his hand on Carlos's shoulder. "Let 'em have this."
As they declared a friendly competition, footsteps are heard and coming inside the dance. Everyone turns to see it was none other than Quincy. He's wearing a sparkling red suit with pink hearts embedded on the collar, pink dress shirt, and hot pink shoes. He walks inside like he's a model and everyone just stares in awe. Even his VK friends were shocked that he's here after their last conversation. Quincy sees them and makes his way towards them.
"Hey, Quincy." Jay said.
"You look great." Evie said.
"I'm sorry, but I'm confused. I thought you didn't want anything to do with Valentine's Day, much less a dance." Freddie said.
"Believe me, it wasn't my choice." Quincy said.
"How so?" Carlos asked. "Did Fairy Godmother make you volunteer?"
"Not even close." Quincy said in a slumped voice.
"There he is!" A familiar voice said.
Quincy tensed up at the voice. He slowly turns around and sees the one person he doesn't want to be with.
"Who's that?" Mal asked.
"My worst nightmare." Quincy answered. "Chad lost a bet, so now I have to chaperone with him."
"Are you serious right now?" Jay asked.
"He used you for a bet?" Carlos asked also.
"No surprise he did." Evie said.
"Well, it wasn't his idea." Quincy said. "It was all him." He pointed to Pierre. "He's replacing his friend who was supposed to do it, but got sick. So since Chad lost, I have to volunteer."
"Ok, but that still doesn't explain who he is." Mal said.
"His name is Pierre. He's Emeri's brother." Quincy said.
"Oh." The VKs said.
"I didn't know she has a brother." Evie said.
"He's kinda cute though." Freddie said.
"Get me a barf bag, he's not that cute." Quincy said. "He's a arrogant jerk."
"Sounds like you got into it with him." Jay said.
"Something like that after I left the Student Lounge." Quincy said.
"Yeah, about that, is everything ok?" Mal said. "We didn't mean to make you mad."
"No, it's not even about you." Quincy said. "It's just…all this talk about love and relationships just got to me."
"I don't understand." Mal said. "Quincy…"
"Hey, come on! Don't keep me waiting!" Pierre called from afar.
"I have to go." Quincy said before leaving the group.
They all looked at him with concern, wondering why today of all days is so hard for him.
1 hour later…
Everyone's having a good time between getting their pictures taken, dancing, having punch and talking amongst themselves. Quincy on the other hand is not doing any of that as he's standing guard with the person he can't stand the most. Pierre's on the lookout to see that everything goes smoothly. He inspects the food, the punch, the students dancing and his little sister. He then notices Quincy just drinking some punch and looking away. He then decides to bug him about.
"Hey!" Pierre said. "No slouching on the job!"
"Geez, you almost made me spill my drink!" Quincy said angrily.
"Well, I wouldn't have to do that if you're paying attention." Pierre said.
"I'm taking a 5." Quincy said then takes a sip.
"This job don't take breaks, especially for a spoiled kid." Pierre said.
"You take that back. I'm anything but spoiled." Quincy said.
"I'm sure that's what you tell yourself. You mom must be so proud." Pierre said.
"Hardly. If anything, she loathes me. I don't exactly live up to her expectations." Quincy said.
"What you mean by that?" Pierre asked.
"Are you seriously this clueless? Haven't you figured it out by now?" Quincy said.
"Was I supposed to?"
"I'm surprised you haven't heard of me before." Quincy then pronounces himself in a way that he never thought he would do in a million years. "I'm Quincy, Prince of Wonderland and son of the Queen of Hearts."
Then that's when it came to him. It was his turn to have a shocked expression. He gasps when it was all coming together. "You're that Quincy kid from Jordan's show!"
"Finally." Quincy said.
"You're from the Isle of the Lost." Pierre said.
"You think?!" Quincy said.
"I can't believe I'm actually meeting you." Pierre said. "Woah, freaky."
"That's right." Quincy said with a smirk.
"You're not really spoiled, you just acted spoiled."
"Thanks." But then Quincy re-listened to what Pierre said. "Hey!" He said angrily.
"Villain kid or not, you still act like you're a prince." Pierre said.
"I'm still technically a prince, don't get that wrong. But it doesn't mean I'm spoiled, I'm just expressive when it comes to my emotions."
"You really been through a lot, haven't you?"
"You have no idea."
"Well now, I get that."
Now that Quincy's walls were down, he feels if can finally what he should be saying right now. "Look, I'm sorry I got worked up on you when we first met. I was in a bad mood, something I haven't felt in a long time. I thought I got over it, but today when I found out about Valentine's Day, it just brought up old feelings."
"Bad breakup?" Pierre guessed.
"Can't break up with someone you're never in a relationship with." Quincy said.
"Oh." Pierre said. "I honestly have no idea what to say."
"So that's what shut you up?" Quincy said then starts laughing.
"Oh, so you do have a sense of humor." Pierre said smiling.
"Boy, I use to prank people back at home, of course I have a sense of humor." Quincy said.
He then looks at his left and notices a student doing something shade.
"Speaking of which…" Quincy walks over to him.
The random student pulled out a salt shaker and was about to take the top off when Quincy grabs the hand that holds the salt shaker.
"Don't even think about it." Quincy said in his threatening voice.
"Uh, I was just gonna add some more sugar in this." The boy lied with a nervous smile.
"Kid, I'm the King of Pranks back on the Isle and this is such a rookie move, even a 5 year old will catch on."
Realizing he'd been caught, he gives the salt shaker to Quincy and makes his way back to the dance floor. Quincy then hears clapping behind him and looks to see it was from Pierre.
"That was impressive." He said.
"It was nothing." Quincy said. "The old salt in punch trick, that's kids stuff. I'm so advanced, I can notice pranks from 10 miles away."
"Another thing to know about you."
"You barely scratched the surface." Quincy grinned.
They both laughed.
On the stage, Jordan takes to the microphone and taps on it to release feedback to get everyone's attention.
"What up, Auradon Prep? I'm Jordan, your host for the Valentine's Dance! How we feeling tonight?" Jordan said.
Everyone cheered for a good 20 seconds before Jordan puts her hand out to silence them.
"Hope you're all ready for some moving and grooving cause right now it's time for the couple's dance. Whoever comes out on top gets a fabulous prize!" Jordan announced.
The audience cheered once more.
"Now, will the following participants please get on the dance floor?" Jordan called out.
Mal and Ben are the first ones to come on, then Evie and Doug, followed by Carlos and Jane, also Lonnie and Aziz, then there's Ally and Herkie who are both blushing at each other. Jay offers his hand to Audrey, who resisted at first, but eventually places her hand in his and he leads them to where the participants are standing at.
"You excited?" Ben said smiling at Mal.
"It wouldn't be the first time we danced in front of everyone." Mal said smiling.
"I'm ready to dazzle." Evie said gleaming with pride then turns to Doug. "Are you?"
"Wherever you go, I follow." Doug said smiling.
"I've been practicing a few steps." Carlos said to Jane, then adds, "Can you keep up?" He joked.
"I was gonna ask you the same thing." Jane said with a wink and a smile.
"With my dashing good lucks, I'll be able to charm the judges." Jay said smirking.
"Your looks? With me, they'll be stunned by my beauty." Audrey said with confidence.
"Just like I am." Jay grins at her.
Audrey blushed and turns her head away so he doesn't notice. "Cut that out." But Jay can already tell he got to her and grins some more.
Chad and Emeri enter the dance floor as well with Chad holding her hand.
"She never told me that she's dancing with Chad." Pierre said.
"I'm sure she'll be fine." Quincy assures him. "She can take care of herself."
"It's not her I'm worried about." Pierre said.
Chad was smiling like a goofball and tries to put his arm around her, but stops him from doing so.
"Don't even think about it. I'm in this to win it." Emeri warned Chad.
Chad quickly pulls his arm back. "Ok. Cool. I'm into it."
"Ok, now that all of you are here…" Jordan pauses when she looks at her signup sheet. "Hey, wait a minute. There's still one more left."
Everyone mutters and looks around to see if anyone goes on the dance floor. Quincy does the same thing, but he sees that Pierre is walking over just few inches.
Quincy stares at him confused. "Huh?"
Jordan looks at the names of the last couple to dance and her opened her wife's wider when she found the names and is quite shocked. "Alright, Pierre and Quincy, please make your way down!"
"What?!" Mal and the others competing shouted and turns over to the two boys by the refreshment table.
Everyone else stares in shock, but no more than Quincy is right now as his eyes and mouth are wide open at the words Jordan just said. Pierre looks back behind him and gives Quincy a smirk while extending his hand to him.
"Aren't you going to join me, your highness?" Pierre joked.
"Y-You signed us up?!" Quincy said. "That wasn't part of the bet!"
"It was an unsaid part of the bet, I just never brought it up." Pierre said.
"No way, I'm not doing that." Quincy said. "And besides, aren't we supposed to be chaperoning?"
"Actually, I can take care of that." Fairy Godmother said. "I am overseeing the dance anyways."
Quincy was stunned.
"See, Fairy Godmother's got this." Pierre said.
"I don't know…." Quincy's still conflicted.
"Come on, it'll be fun. Plus don't you want that prize? Doesn't that piqued your interest?" Pierre said.
Quincy looks at everyone staring at him, even his friends. He really doesn't want to be part of the contest, but then, he hears clapping. It was Pierre, he's clapping slowly, and then he starts chanting.
"Quincy, Quincy, Quincy, Quincy!"
Soon after, the whole audience joins in little by little. "Quincy, Quincy, Quincy, Quincy!"
Hearing everyone chant his name, it feels as if he has no other choice. Running away isn't an option no more, he figured. So the best thing to do is walk alongside Pierre and hopes for the best. The audience claps faster as Quincy accepts. The two joins the rest of the competitors on the dance floor.
"Do you even know how to dance? Cause I sure as Hades don't." Quincy said.
"Just follow my lead." Pierre said.
"No surprise you want to take the lead." Quincy said bitterly.
"Alright, now that everyone's here, I'll explain the rules." Jordan said. "Music will be played and the contestants will dance to that music. If you lose concentration or dance out of step, then you're out until the final pair is left. That said pair will be the winners of the contest. The prize will be revealed at the end. Everyone got it?"
"Got it!" The contestants said.
"Then let's get this party started!" Jordan said.
The audience cheered.
10 minutes later….
Music is still playing as Lonnie and Aziz, Evie and Doug, Carlos and Jane, Chad and Emeri and Herkie and Ally are out. Jay and Audrey, Mal and Ben and Quincy and Pierre are still in the contest as they're still dancing. Mal and Ben were having a blast as they danced back and forth, Jay and Audrey were going in circles and Quincy and Pierre danced side by side. As Jay dips Audrey while holding her, he brings her back up and her forehead accidentally hits his and they tumbled on the floor.
"Oooh!" The audience said.
"Ouch, that's gotta hurt." Jordan said. "But unfortunately, Jay and Audrey, you're out!"
Jay and Audrey got themselves up and retreats to the audience.
"You'll get 'em next time, buddy!" Carlos said to Jay while patting his back.
"And with that, we still have two dancing pairs on the floor!" Jordan said.
Mal and Ben holds each other's hands as they go around the floor in circles, while Quincy and Pierre are still dancing side by side.
"We'll have to change our tactics." Pierre said to Quincy.
"Really? Cause I like how we're doing right now." Quincy said in a tone that means he's not gonna like what Pierre's suggesting.
"I'm in it to win it. So I wanna do whatever it takes." Pierre said.
Quincy groans, but finally, he says, "Ok."
"Take my hand." Pierre said.
Quincy does what he said and takes Pierre's hand. Pierre than grabs both of his hands and he leads them across the floor. They dance in circles and Pierre twirls Quincy around once before he leaps him in the air with Quincy's stomach on his hand. Quincy stretches out his arms and legs and acts if he's a swan. The crowd was eating it up as they cheered for the male duo. Pierre brings Quincy down and they continued to dance like normal. Mal was twirled from Ben but still hold on to one's hand then Ben pulls her back into his embrace. Ben then hoist Mal up while she used his shoulders for support. As Ben sets her down, Mal accidentally lands on Ben's foot, which hurts a bit.
"Oh!" The audience shouted.
"Yikes. Unfortunately, Ben and Mal, you're out!"
Quincy and Pierre stopped dancing when they heard about Mal and Ben. They gasped as they realize what this means.
"So that means that the final pair and winners of the contest are Pierre and Quincy!" Jordan announced.
The audience cheered along with the losing contestants. They all clapped and hollered as Ben and Mal make they way off the floor with Mal supporting Ben while they walked. Astonished by the cheers, Quincy's smile crept on his face and he was cheering for his victory. Same with Pierre as he high-fived Quincy and they both hugged each other. After about 10 seconds, Quincy opened his eyes and then pushes Pierre off of him while blushing.
"Uh, good work." Quincy said holding out his hand to shake.
"Same to you, Frail Boy." Pierre said as he shakes Quincy's hand.
"Jerk." Quincy called him, but gives him a small smile.
"Now, will the winning contestants come on up and receive their fabulous prize?" Jordan calls out.
Quincy and Pierre walks up to the stage and they present themselves before Jordan. She pulls out an envelop from her pocket and gives it to Quincy. Anticipation crawls up on Quincy as he's excited to see what they've won. He opens the envelope and he takes out what looks to be a coupon.
"What's this?" Quincy said.
"It's a certificate for a dinner for 2 at Clopin's Pizzeria!" Jordan said.
The crowd cheered once more.
"Wow!" Quincy said. "I heard of that place! It supposed to be the best pizza place out of all of Auradon!"
"I know." Pierre said.
Just then, Quincy noticed something in Pierre's voice and looks at him, only for Pierre to wink at him. Quincy gasped at the wink.
5 minutes later….
Everyone continues to enjoy the rest of the dance. All but Quincy, who are going back to his post as chaperone, he puts two and two together.
"You orchestrated this whole thing." Quincy accused Pierre.
"How so?" Pierre asked.
"Clopin's Pizzeria originated from Notre Dame, the same place your born in, so you'd have to known the owner. You must've convinced him to give that certificate as a prize to Auradon Prep, where you conveniently volunteered to chaperone for a dance that's not even your school probably cause of some form of nepotism. You saw an opportunity and you took it. That's the real reason why you've come here, isn't it?"
Pierre stares at him for a minute before he finally spoke. "Wow."
" 'Wow'? That's all you gotta say?" Quincy said.
"Didn't realize you're that smart. I thought you're just a spoiled prince this whole time." Pierre said.
"I used to be a prankster, remember? I'd tend to pick up when someone's being mischievous." Quincy said.
"Fair enough. But here's one thing you didn't figure out." Pierre said.
"What?" Quincy asked.
"The friend that I was about to bring with me was a girl I liked. It would been my way of asking her out." Pierre said.
For some reason, Quincy was shocked at his confession. "Oh."
"I've like her for a while and she's not exactly into me, so I figured this would be my chance to get close with her."
"So, this whole time, you were just using me to get a date with someone." Quincy said. "That's why you picked me to volunteer with you."
"Well…" Pierre said.
"Just take it." Quincy gives the certificate to Pierre. "It's not like I have a date or even want one anyways."
Pierre takes it, but he doesn't feel good about it, having to trick someone into getting what he wants.
"Hope y'all have a good time." Quincy said.
He walked out to get another cup of punch and one of the Valentine's Day sugar cookies with red frosting and pink and white heart sprinkles. He stares into the cookies, thinking about something from his past.
Flashback, Isle of the Lost, 4 years ago….
Quincy and the kid were hanging out in an alley after school. They were planning their next prank and suddenly, the kid wanted to tell Quincy something.
"Say, there's something I wanted to tell you." The kid said.
"Like what?" Quincy asked.
"How would you feel if we ruled this place?"
"Like take over the Isle?"
"Yeah, but like, together?" The kid blushed.
"Together? Like partners?" Quincy asked.
"Yes, but more than that." The kid got closer to Quincy's face.
Quincy blushed at how close his friend is.
"I want to be with you, Quince. I think you're great when it comes to pranks and how smart you are. And I think if possible, not only we can rule the Isle of the Lost, but we could take over Auradon and take back what's ours."
Quincy's friend then kissed him and Quincy kissed his friend back. But then Quincy backs away.
"What's the matter?" His friend asked.
Quincy stutters as he's trying to form the words, but then eventually, he gets up.
"I…I have to go." Quincy said.
He runs off but the kid runs around the corner to try to catch up, but Quincy was too fast. Quincy lost him and stops to catch his breath. But after that, tears runs down his face as he decides then and there that it was over between him and his friend and cries when he drops to his knees and covers his face.
Present
A tear went down from his right eye. Quincy instantly regrets coming here and doing this whole thing with Pierre. He should've just locked himself into his room, but comes here anyways. Pierre watches from the corner as he feels guilty of using him. He looks at the certificate and then to Quincy. He then decides what he has to do. He walks up to Quincy, who quickly wipes his tear away.
"What now?" Quincy said.
"I can find another way to ask her out." Pierre said. "Right now, you need this more than I do. You earned it."
Quincy looks from Pierre to the certificate. But he still takes it from him. "Are you sure?"
"I was wrong about you. You're not who I thought you are." Pierre said. "I'm sorry. Maybe we can start over and maybe…be friends?" Pierre said but blushed at the last few words.
He thought about it and then says, "I guess I won't mind. You may be a jerk, but I can tolerate you for a minute." Quincy smiled.
"Alright, cool." Pierre said. "Well, I hope whoever you take will have a good time with you."
"Well, if you mean like a date, not a chance. But a friend, that's a different story." Quincy said.
"Who you have in mind?" Pierre wondered.
"Well, Jordan or Chad was on my mind, but…I guess you did win along with me, so how about it?" Quincy said.
"For real?" Pierre said. "Um, sure." He smiled.
"Great, see you on Saturday then." Quincy said.
"For sure." Pierre said.
As the chaperones were looking at each other, The VKs were looking at them.
"Hmmm, is it me or do they seem to be friendly with each other?" Evie said.
"If you ask me, I say it's something more." Freddie smirked.
"Freddie, we're talking about Quincy here. He doesn't do love. Or even liking someone like that." Jay said.
"Hmm…" Mal said.
"What you think, M?" Evie asked.
"I think for now, Quincy has found himself another friend. Whether it's more or not, we should support him no matter what." Mal said.
"I like that idea." Carlos said.
"Besides, whatever today means for Quincy, it must be hard to talk about for some reason." Mal added.
"She's right, so let's chill with the like accusations." Evie tells everyone else.
"Deal." The rest say.
"Hey you guys, you seen my brother?" Emeri said coming up to them.
"With Quincy." Mal said.
"Oh, right, he's the chaperone." Emeri said. "I still can't believe he did that."
"Did what?" Mal asked.
"He volunteered to chaperone so that he could enter the contest. But it looks like he's not gonna take that girl he likes from his school with it." Emeri said.
"So that's it." Jay said. "How mischievous." He smiled.
"Exactly." Emeri said.
"So speaking of dates, you and Chad got something planned?" Evie asked her.
"As if. While we danced, I can smell how bad his breath is." Emeri said. "So he can forget it." She then walks off.
The VKs looks at each other and laughs.
"Hey guys!" Quincy said walking to them. "That was something wasn't it?"
"You could say that." Evie said.
"So guess I'm having some pizza tomorrow." Quincy said.
"Oh, so you're going with Pierre?" Freddie smirked.
"Yeah, but at first, he used me to get with this girl, but he feels guilt and gives it to me. So I kinda feel inclined to take him with me. The least I can do, right?" Quincy said.
"I hear that." Mal said.
"Guess you're feeling a little cheerful today then?" Carlos said.
"Yeah, I am." Quincy said. "And thanks for putting up with me. I know I haven't been easy to get along with. It's just today of all days, it gets me in a bad place."
"You want to talk about it?" Evie asked.
"Not today. Someday though. Right now, I just wanna party!" Quincy said.
"You heard him, folks, let's party!" Mal shouted.
"Yeah!" The VKs shouted also.
They all danced with their AK friends and even Pierre joins in. Then red, pink and white balloons fell on them as the song that's playing goes up in volume. They all danced the night away and they lived happily ever after until the next time.
