Clandestinely Yours

Chapter 1

Elphaba Thropp was livid.  Fuming.  Boiling.  Her hands were shaking when she stepped into the dorm she shared with Galinda fucking Upland, the dimpled blonde with piercing brown eyes and a knack for pissing her the hell off.

She was so mad that the door slammed shut behind her on its own accord.  She took a shaking breath to try to level herself.  The glass on the terrace doors vibrated.  She closed her eyes and clutched her books to her chest.  She took several deep breaths before she felt her heartbeat slow down and her blood come down to a simmer.  She slowly opened her eyes and calmly walked over to the bookshelf to place each textbook back in its rightful spot.  She glared down at the last one—her notebook—and tossed it down onto the desk.

Classes were over for the day which meant that she had at least two hours before Galinda finished socializing with half of campus and returned to the dorm to irritate her with her perfume and hair-tossing and snarky barbs about her appearance.  Funny, the green jokes only came in class when she had the audience of her fellow students, what Elphaba liked to call the Galinda Upland Fanclub.

And she really didn’t want to be home when Galinda returned.

For the past few weeks, Galinda had been insufferable.  She was a big enough person to admit that she hadn’t exactly been the best roommate either.  The moving of Galinda’s things just to annoy her, the one-upping her in jousting class to knock her off balance, the way she sometimes left her books for Madame Morrible’s sorcery class lying around just to make Galinda jealous.  She was no saint.  But Galinda Upland had really done it today.

*~*~*~*~*

Galinda had stepped into the classroom about three seconds after her, and she’d made a beeline for the desk that Elphaba was heading to.  It just happened to be the last desk in class, because apparently Shiz couldn’t possibly accommodate one extra student.  The professor had already let the class know that whoever arrived late in class would have to stand or use the professor’s desk for the duration of class.  And nobody wanted either of those options.

She hadn’t meant to be late, but at least she’d arrived before Galinda.  And when Galinda practically knocked her down to beat her to the chair, she’d seen red.  She’d stumbled but bolted for the seat, and somehow they’d both slid onto it at the same time.  Snickers and laughs had risen up around them from their fellow students, but neither of them had noticed, because they were too busy noticing each other.

Elphaba had tried to shove Galinda away by nudging her with her hip.  Galinda’d fought back, and soon they were at a stalemate, both pressing into each other hard, both gripping the tabletop to keep from being thrown to the floor.  And finally, with a gasp, Galinda had made the mistake of shifting her weight on the seat, and Elphaba took advantage of the moment to bump her out of the seat.  Galinda’s butt had hit the floor, and she’d stared up at her, eyes dark and nostrils flaring as she brushed her tousled blonde hair out of her face and stood up, smoothing her skirt down.  She stood there for a moment just staring.  The other students went silent, practically leaning forward in anticipation of what was going to happen next.

The professor walked in soon after, pausing in the doorway and appraising the situation before deciding to let the girls work it out for themselves.  She’d started toward the black board and began to talk.  Elphaba had opened her notebook, grabbed her pen and tried to concentrate on what the professor was saying.  All the while, she could feel Galinda’s eyes on her.  She could hear her huff out an exaggerated sigh.  She could smell her perfume when she tossed her hair over her shoulder again.  She glanced up at her.  Just once.  Galinda’s glare was hard and unflinching.  Elphaba couldn’t help herself.  She smiled.  Fucking smiled.  She didn’t know why.  She just did it, and when Galinda narrowed her eyes at her, she felt her pulse quicken.

Elphaba had expected her to say something snarky.  Call her a broccoli floret or some other thing she considered an insult.  She expected her to do anything but what she did next.

When Elphaba turned her attention back to her notebook, Galinda took two steps toward the desk.  Her pen froze, poised on the half word she’d been writing.  She looked up again just in time for Galinda Upland to turn and slide back onto the seat.  Correction.  Onto Elphaba.  Before Elphaba knew what was happening, Galinda was sitting on her lap, blonde hair whipping directly into her face.  Elphaba blew the blonde strands away from her mouth, a choked gasp clawing at her throat at the audacity.

“What are you doing?” she hissed out, trying to push Galinda off of her.  But, the blonde held onto the desktop for dear life.  Her ass pressed back against Elphaba’s pelvis.  Elphaba froze.  Galinda sighed heavily, ignoring the whispers and stares from the students around them.  She shifted on Elphaba’s lap, and suddenly, Elphaba felt the heat from the blonde’s body seeping into her own.  Her heart skipped a beat.  Her mouth went dry.  Her hands trembled.  The pen fell from her grasp and landed on the floor.  She didn’t dare try to move to pick it up.  Instead, Galinda simply took out her own pen and started jotting notes down in Elphaba’s notebook.

The fucking audacity.

And what was worse was that the professor didn’t even take a moment to pause her lecture and reprimand Galinda when she noticed what she’d done.  She just went about her lecture like it was no big deal.

What the fuck?

Galinda sat there for the entirety of the class.  Her blonde hair occasionally flipped into Elphaba’s face.  The smell of her shampoo invaded Elphaba’s senses.  Was that birthday cake?

When the lecture was nearing a stopping point, Galinda shifted in Elphaba’s lap again.  Elphaba’s thighs were numb, but when Galinda moved, she felt something else entirely.  A throb between her legs.  She stiffened.  Galinda noticed.  She looked over her shoulder with a smirk as if she knew exactly what she was doing, though Elphaba highly doubted she had an Oz-damned clue.  Galinda shifted again.  Elphaba reacted by digging her nails into Galinda’s hips to still her.  She felt the blonde take in a deep breath.  Felt her stiffen against her.  She loosened her grip on her then, but Galinda didn’t move.  Didn’t even breathe for almost a whole thirty seconds.

Elphaba’s head was reeling.  The throbbing between her legs intensified when Galinda reached down to curl her fingers around her wrist.  Elphaba loosened her grip with that hand, and Galinda let her go.  The other hand was still on the blonde’s hip, but not for long.  The professor excused the class, and Galinda got up off of Elphaba's lap, rushing out the door with her books and her pen, leaving Elphaba in her seat with her notebook, half-scrawled on with her own writing, half with Galinda’s.

Elphaba had blinked down at the notebook as the other students filed out of the room.  She could still smell Galinda’s shampoo. She could still feel her sitting on her lap.  She could still feel that throbbing between her own legs.  And now she was staring down at the little heart-shaped doodles in the corner of the page of notes that Galinda had barely made an attempt to jot down.  Not only had she decided to be a brat, but she was going to have her failing her classes at this point.  Evil.

*~*~*~*~*

Elphaba stood in the middle of their shared dorm staring down at that notebook.  It was filled with smart, studious notes from the past few weeks of class.  And today, she’d missed an entire lecture because Galinda had sat on her and made silly notes that made no sense.  Not that Elphaba had paid a lick of attention to what the professor had said, but she was certain that she hadn’t said—what was it Galinda had written?— thaumaturgy could also be used to take that giant stick out of Elphaba Thropp’s behindShe’s actually kind of c—

The word cut off there, presumably when Elphaba had dug her nails into the girl’s hips.  The fact that she didn’t finish the sentence pissed her off even more.

Elphaba slammed her notebook shut and slammed the rolling desktop down to hide it for good measure.

“Ugh!” she growled, hastily unbuttoning her waist coat and shoving it onto a hanger.  She decided she was going to go to the library.  She could use some fresh air away from this so-called shared space that was mainly Galinda Upland every where she turned.  Galinda’s knickknacks set out on various surfaces.  Galinda’s clothes shoved in every available storage space save for the few drawers Elphaba had for herself.  Galinda’s shoes, Galinda’s makeup, Galinda’s Oz-damned fluffy pillows that probably smelled just like Galinda’s shampoo.

Not to mention, when Galinda was home, she was literally everywhere.  She’d flit about the room as if she owned the place, taking up her share of space as well as Elphaba’s.  She’d flounce around in her robe that showed off enough leg to almost be obscene.  Not that she’d been looking.  Well, it was hard not to look.  Galinda did have nice legs.  And sure, she was pretty.  Attractive, even.  Alright, gorgeous. She might have been the most infuriating person in all of Oz, but there was no denying her beauty.

Elphaba paused, hand on her hip as she stood in the middle of the room wondering how the hell her mind had wandered to Galinda Upland’s legs.  Oh, that’s right.  She’d pushed her way into her seat and onto her lap and tortured her for an hour and made her body ache in ways she hadn’t felt so strongly before.  And she wasn’t more certain what pissed her off more.  The fact that Galinda had done it or the fact that she had let it happen.  Liked it even.  Deep down, she knew she could have overpowered her and shoved her off again.  And for whatever reason, she’d let it happen, and now she was left feeling pissed off, confused and…turned on.

Oz damn it.

She was feeling hot all over now.  She crossed the dorm in four big paces and threw open the terrace doors.  She leaned into the cool air, her memory flashing back to Galinda leaning into the wind that first day at Shiz.

She could not escape her.

She shut the door again and started to unbutton her blue shirt to change into something more comfortable to wear to the library.  But her hand froze when the doorknob rattled.  Her pulse thrummed in her ears.  She turned her gaze to the door in time to see Galinda come walking in with her books in one arm and a pleased smile on her face.

She walked right past Elphaba without speaking, and Elphaba bit the inside of her cheek.  Hard.  She wanted to say something.  Anything.  She wanted Galinda to say something.  Someone needed to start the argument.  But at the same time, she knew that would likely lead to items flying to the ceiling and glass windows being broken.  Again.  So, she bit the inside of her cheek a little harder and opted to keep her mouth shut.

She grabbed her bundle of books for Madame Morrible’s seminar from her bedside table and started for the door.

“Going somewhere, Elphaba?” Galinda asked lightly as she kicked off her heels and put on a pair of obscenely adorable fluffy pink slippers.

“Out,” Elphaba muttered, grabbing a fresh notebook and a pen.

“More studying, I see,” Galinda sighed.  “You might want to go over the lesson from Thaumaturgy class.  You seemed a little distracted.”

Elphaba was certain she could taste blood.  She wanted to tell her just what she thought of her.  How it was her fault she missed the lesson entirely.  How it was her fault that all she could think about since class was the smell of her hair and the way her own body responded to Galinda’s sitting on her and shifting around in her lap like that.  But all she could think about in that moment was how glossy Galinda’s lips looked and how her skin was glowing.  And—Oz—was her face flushing?

She swallowed hard and clutched her books to her chest.  Galinda took a few steps toward her and smiled.

“Speaking of class, where is your notebook, Elphaba?  I’d like to go over the notes I took.”  She was practically smirking, and Elphaba couldn’t help but notice the way she licked her lips and put her hands on her hips as if she was waiting for a delicious come back.  Oh no.  She wasn’t giving her the satisfaction.

“Don’t wait up,” Elphaba bit out before she turned on her heels and left the dorm, thankful for the space she’d put between them, thankful for the silence that followed the echoes of her boot heels on the floor.  Still, as she walked, she couldn’t ignore the fire coiling low in her belly or the ache between her legs that only seemed to grow with each step.

She took the stairs down to the lobby below, and when she stepped out into the cool afternoon breeze, she took a leveling breath.  The breeze cooled her warm flesh, but it did nothing to quell the tension down below.  It was then that she got a whiff of that scent.  That Galinda scent.  She tugged at her blouse, bringing the piece pinched between her thumb and forefinger up to her nose.  She inhaled deeply.  Oz damn it, now she smelled like her.

Oh.  She was done for.

Chapter 2

“Don’t wait up.”

Was she serious

Galinda Upland of the Upper Uplands stood in the middle of the silent dorm and glared at the door that had just shut a touch too lightly for her liking.

She couldn’t have at least slammed it?

She turned her glare down to the fluffy pink slippers on her feet and sighed dramatically.  They were disgustingly cute—even for her own tastes—and might as well have had beady eyes and big floppy ears.  She kicked them off in frustration.

She couldn’t believe Elphaba Thropp.  The girl was just insufferable.  Absolutely insufferable.  Ever since arriving at Shiz, she’d been everywhere.  Even when she wasn’t there.  She was in most of her classes.  She was in the exclusive seminar that Galinda had been determined to get into herself, and she had to walk past that room every day and hear Madame Morrible coaching and praising Elphaba like she was the queen of Oz or something.

She was in the book place when Galinda needed to look up something for homework.  She was in the dining hall when Galinda was hungry.  She was in their room, all the time.  Well, when she wasn’t in the book place, that was.  But when she was home, she was doing the most obnoxious things like sighing when she read or laughing softly under her breath at whatever it was that she was reading that Galinda wasn’t privy too.

Galinda liked a good joke, too, after all.

Galinda had just wanted to come to school and make new friends and work hard to become what she truly wanted to be.  And then she came.  Elphaba Thropp.  The girl with the softest-looking green skin, annoyingly beautiful eyes and the most gloriociously well-manicured nails in all of Oz. She stood out from the crowd.  She was smart.  She had powers that could move objects and people.   And the most infuriating trait of all?  She pretended not to give a single solitary damn about what anyone thought about her.  She was especially skilled at pretending that this little rivalry they had meant absolutely nothing.  Like it was a silly little game.

But Oz-damn it, Galinda was tired.

She knew Elphaba wasn’t like other girls.  She’d understood that from the moment they met, from the moment Elphaba dared to call her out in front of a crowd that had physically recoiled at the mere sight of her green skin.  And that intrigued her.  Deep down—and she’d never admit it out loud as long as she had a breath in her body—it excited her.  Nobody had ever seen through her like that and so boldly dared to leave her speechless.  But Galinda knew.  She just knew that Elphaba cared just as much as she did what people thought.  Only, she suspected, she’d had a lot more time to practice pretending not to.  Still, it infuriated her to no end that Elphaba could walk away from a group of people—Oz, from her—acting as if nothing and nobody mattered.  She could never.  Still, for the first time in her life, somebody had looked at her and seen her and not automatically bent to her very will like most of the people who seemed to gravitate to her.

Galinda’s glare softened, and she tossed her hair over her shoulder. She walked over to her vanity and sat down, taking the clips from her hair and staring at her own reflection for a clock tick.

She knew she’d been a brat.  She’d never been good at sharing.  She was an only child, admittedly spoiled by Momsie and Popsicle, and sharing her private space with anyone—let alone this girl who, until just a couple of hours ago—seemed to not even care that she existed—was the most horrindible idea she’d ever heard tell of.  And she knew she hadn’t made the transition easy for her roommate.  She’d cleared out a space for her, at least.  She’d tried to be nice, tried to make small talk, tried to come to some sort of truce that, admittedly, was a little more one-side, considering she’d done the bare minimum to make space for her roommate in exchange for asking for her to put in a good word with Madame Morrible.  But, in her own way, she’d tried.

And her roommate couldn’t stand her.  Barely looked at her.

She knew she’d started it with making a show of giving Elphaba a dusty corner of the room and spreading all of her own luggage out around it just so Elphaba would have to move it to get through.  But Elphaba had given back to her, and it had been this push and pull of them trying to annoy and one-up the other.  They rarely talked.  It was as if Elphaba preferred to pretend she wasn’t there.  But she knew that Elphaba enjoyed this little back and forth just as much as she did.  It was exhausting and infuriating and the most fun Galinda Upland had had in her entire life.  She hadn’t known a second of boredom since her roommate arrived.

Maybe it was a game after all.  And nobody was winning.

Galinda caught her own gaze in the reflection of the mirror.

“What are you looking at?”

She ran her fingers through her hair, pulling them through the curled ends.  With a heavy sigh, she pulled her hair back and up into a clip.  She retreated to the private bathroom her parents had donated good money to acquire for their daughter.

She slipped out of her clothes and neatly folded them before placing them in the bottom of the hamper.  With a frown, she noticed one of Elphaba’s shirts bunched into a ball at the bottom, which was honestly so unlike her.  Elphaba was nothing if not a tidy roommate, even if she did so enjoy piling all of Galinda’s things in the center of the room for her to sort out.  At least it was a tidy pile.  Thoughtful.

Galinda wrinkled her nose and made a mental note to ask the dorm laundress to iron their clothes this week.

She passed the floor length mirror by the door and paused when she caught a glimpse of something in the mirror.  There on her hip were five small, pink marks that Galinda immediately knew came from Elphaba’s grip on her earlier in class.

Suddenly, she could feel those nails digging into her skin.  She could feel the tightness of Elphaba’s grip.  She could feel the softness of the skin on Elphaba’s wrist when she’d reached down and curled her fingers around it.  She hadn’t exactly known what she’d intended to accomplish that afternoon.  She hadn’t intended to do what she’d done.  But when Elphaba had overpowered her for the seat and left her standing, she’d refused to let her roommate win.  But, it wasn’t until Elphaba had looked up at her and smiled—fucking smiled—that she’d decided that desperate times called for desperate measures.

The moment she’d sat down, she knew she’d messed up.  The moment she felt the heat from Elphaba’s body against her own, it was like a wildfire had sparked and was spreading fast.  She wasn’t about to let Elphaba know that.  She’d ignored the snickers from the rest of the class.  She’d ignored Elphaba’s own question.  She just sat and tried to listen, taking the poorest notes she’d ever taken in her life, because at this point, she just had to own what she’d done.

As class went on, her concentration waned.  It was hard to concentrate with the heat building between her legs and her heart beating in her ears.  And before she knew it, she was doodling little hearts in the corners of the pages, because writing words was difficult.  Still, she could feel Elphaba tense under her, and she couldn’t help but wonder if that tension was due to anything else besides total irritation.

She shifted then.  Just to test the waters.  And that had done it.  Elphaba stiffened under her.  With a little smirk, she glanced over her shoulder, but she couldn’t quite see her roommate’s face.  But the way her hands flew up to grip her hips was all Galinda needed to know.

The nails digging into the fabric of her dress, the pressure from her fingers, the heat between Elphaba’s lap and her ass.  It was almost too much.  She gasped softly and reached down to curl her fingers around Elphaba’s wrist.  And as quickly as she’d gripped her with that hand, she let go.  Just with that hand.  The other hand was on her other hip, gripping but just enough to make a point.

Galinda had forced herself to try to concentrate, but all she could think about was how she’d like to feel those nails digging into her for real, without the barrier of clothes between them.  The thoughts consumed her until her heart was racing so Oz-damned fast that she thought she might faint.  She’d never left a classroom so quickly when the hour was over.  She left without looking back.  She needed to get air and she needed to put some distance between herself and her roommate before she saw her again.

Now, as she stood naked in the bathroom, eyes fixed on the fading pink marks from Elphaba’s nails, she shivered.  She wasn’t supposed to be thinking about her roommate like this.  She wasn’t supposed to be imagining her hands and her nails gripping her hips and pulling her in and holding her down for friction.  Her body jolted as she felt a familiar throb between her legs.

Her hand flew to her chest.  Her pulse was rushing again, and she moved to sit on the edge of the tub before her knees gave out.

She turned the water on as  hot as she could stand it and let it fill the tub before she slipped in, letting the water cover her up to her neck.

This was not supposed to be how she was spending her evening.  She was supposed to be curling her hair and picking out tomorrow’s outfit and maybe even having that blow up argument with Elphaba that had been stewing for weeks now.  But no.  Elphaba had gone off with her books, probably to the book place.  Galinda was sitting in the hot bath thinking about how this girl that she just could not stand was the only person to ever touch her who’d made her ache so torturously between her legs.  She just didn’t understand why her body was so worked up over Elphaba Thropp.

She was beautiful, yes.  She had sparkling eyes that Galinda was sure probably lit up when she smiled.  Not that Elphaba ever smiled at her.  Not genuinely, anyway.  Not in the way that counted.  She had long, slender fingers and smelled so good.  Though they rarely interacted apart from need to situations, they still shared living space, and whatever it was that Elphaba wore smelled just divine.  It wasn’t strong.  But it made Galinda feel warm and safe every time she caught a whiff of it.

It drove her crazy.

Before she even knew what she was doing, her hand was grazing over the swell of her breast, fingers brushing over a nipple before moving down her stomach and over her thighs.  She gasped and closed her eyes, leaning her head back over the edge of the tub.

She moaned softly the second her fingers slipped between her legs.  She was slick with arousal, and she bit her bottom lip as her fingers teased over her sensitive flesh.  As her hand moved, her mind wandered back to the way Elphaba’s hands felt on her hips and then back further to their jousting session where Elphaba’s eyes had been completely focused on hers.  She was strong and agile and so fast, and Galinda could still remember her heart racing long after their session was over.

A loud thud from the suite next door pulled Galinda from her thoughts.  She moved her hand from between her thighs so fast and sat up in the tub.  She waited.  Listened.  Another thud.  Were they moving furniture?

She groaned and leaned back against the tub.

So much for a relaxifying bath.

She cupped water in her hands and splashed it in her face.  The heat did next to nothing to relax her.  She gasped for air and squeezed her thighs together.

This would not do.

She had to do something.

Anything other than let her mind wander to the roommate that she’d thought wanted nothing to do with her but had surprised her by letting her sit on her lap for the entire class period.  Even if she hadn’t addressed it afterward.  Even if she hadn’t gotten the kind of reaction she’d hoped to get out of her.  Elphaba had still responded, and Galinda felt like a spark had been ignited in her.

What did this mean?  Oz damned if she knew.

But she certainly wanted to find out.

She washed quickly and pulled herself out of the bath. She let her long hair down, wrapped herself in her silk robe and started back out into the shared space of the dorm.  Halfway across to her side of the room, she froze.  A little smile tugged at her lips as her plans for the evening began to fall into place.

She glanced at the clock.  It was late.  And Elphaba was still out.  There was only one place she’d be with her sorcery books at a time like this.

Galinda Upland was going to the book place.

*~*~*~*~*~*

The library was quiet, as it was supposed to be.  According to the hours posted on the doors, the building would be closed in a half hour.  Of course Elphaba Thropp would be the one student in all of Shiz to stay until the last possible moment.

It didn’t take long to find her.  She was curled up in one corner in an oversized chair with a pillow between her book and her knees, one arm propping her head up.  Her glasses were slid halfway down her nose, and her braids were loose, spilling over her shoulders.  For a moment, Galinda wondered if she might be asleep.

But the second she heard Galinda’s heels clicking across the tile floor, she glanced up over the rim of her glasses.  Galinda could practically see the tension build in her shoulders.  She shifted in the chair, putting her pillow aside.  Galinda said nothing.  She simply came over to sit in the chair next to hers.   She had her history book with her, which she realized made no sense, because Dr. Dillamond gave them no homework that day.  Still, she opened it and pretended to focus on the next unit.

She could tell Elphaba was holding her breath.  And then, she took a deep one in and let it out slowly.  Galinda read the first sentence on the page four times.

“Galinda.”

“Hmm?”  She didn’t dare look up from her book.

“What are you doing here?”

“What does it look like I’m doing?”

“I really don’t know.  Reading ahead in History?  If you’re trying to get on Dr. Dillamond’s good side, you might try by not criticizing how he pronounces your name.”  Galinda re-read the first sentence again before closing the book and looking over to Elphaba who was not looking at her at all.  Instead, she was looking at her book, and her fingers were skimming along the page.

“He says my name wrong, and I correct him.  It’s sort of our thing, you know?” Galinda explained.  “It makes people laugh.”

“No, it makes your friends laugh.  There’s a difference.  It’s rude.”  She still didn’t look at her.  Galinda swallowed hard.  Elphaba had a point.  She didn’t have a single thing against Dr. Dillamond.  He was one of the kinder professors at Shiz.  But she’d always been the center of attention, and the little back and forth with the old goat certainly earned attention.  And it did make people laugh.  Only Dr. Dillamond never laughed.  Just like Elphaba never laughed.

She closed the book in her lap and sat there watching Elphaba for a moment.  She really was pretty.  From her braids to those bright eyes and those perfectly kissable lips.

Galinda jolted in her seat, and Elphaba sighed.

“Why are you here?” Elphaba asked, a little louder.

“I told you why,” Galinda pointed out, tapping her book.

“The library’s closing soon.  You decided to change your clothes and come all the way to the library when we’re going to get kicked out in about ten minutes?”  Elphaba narrowed her eyes at her.  Galinda’s eyes widened.  She blinked at her, pursing her lips in a way that made her dimple stand out.  Elphaba flinched and looked away.

“Well, you’re still here.  I have just as much right to be here as you do.”

Elphaba shut her book.  Loudly.  She stacked her books together without a word and bound them with the leather book strap.  She stood, and Galinda’s gaze followed her.  Elphaba started to walk away, but she paused.  Galinda perked up, scrambling to her feet as Elphaba turned around.  Whatever she’d been biting her tongue to keep from saying was clearly ready to come out.

“You know I come here to get away from you, right?”  There it was.  It stung, surprisingly, and Galinda flinched.  Elphaba took a step toward Galinda. Her jaw was set.  Tense.  Galinda’s lips parted in a soft gasp, and her big, brown eyes widened.  “It’s not enough that you make it clear to everybody that you hate having to share your room with the green girl.  Now you’re dead set on seeing me fail.  It won’t be enough for you until I flunk out of Shiz, will it?”

“Elphaba, I…”

“Please.  Don’t try to act like you don’t know what I’m talking about,” Elphaba snapped.  “Do you know how embarrassing that was today?”

“Ladies, I’m going to have to ask you both to quiet down or take it outside,” the librarian piped out from behind the desk across the room.  She looked absolutely over the entire day, clearly hoping they decided to leave so she could close up and go home.

“Elphaba, I’m…I’m sorry,” Galinda said quickly.  “I was just…”

“You were just looking for attention, again.  You were just trying to make me the butt of the joke.  Again.”  Galinda blinked at her in surprise, and she took a step forward.  “Whatever it was you were trying to do today, you didn’t stop think how…”  She stopped herself.  Galinda’s eyebrows shot up.  She leaned forward in interest, but Elphaba didn’t continue.

“Elphaba…”

Ladies!” the librarian warned.  Elphaba flinched and took a deep breath.

“You know what.  Let’s just go.  We aren’t doing this.”

“Doing…doing what, Elphaba?”

“Let’s go.” Elphaba started for the exit, and Galinda was right behind her, taking faster, tinier steps in her heels until they were both outside in the cool night air.  Galinda pulled her arms around herself, astoundified at how much the temperature had dropped in just a few minutes.  She briefly considered that her own body temperature had risen a few degrees, but she shook that off.

Elphaba didn’t speak once they were outside.  She just held her books close and started off across campus.  Galinda practically ran to catch up to her.

“Elphaba, I really am sorry about today.  It was mean.”

“I don’t want to talk about it,” Elphaba scoffed.  Galinda felt her blood boil.  The more Elphaba brushed her off, the more it kind of pissed her off.  She was trying to genuinely apologize, and Elphaba wouldn’t stop.

“Elphaba Thropp, you’re not going to ignore me like you normally do.  I’m right here, and I’m trying to talk to you!”  She nearly tripped over a loose cobblestone, but she kept her balance and caught up to Elphaba.

“And you seem to have missed the point entirely,” Elphaba snapped.  She stopped and spun around, and Galinda knocked right into her.

“Oh!”  Elphaba dropped her books and reached out to grab Galinda so she wouldn’t topple them both over.  Her hands were on Galinda’s waist, and as the blonde found her footing and straightened, their eyes met, both wide with surprise.

Galinda sucked in a sharp breath before swallowing hard, her gaze flicking down to Elphaba’s lips.  Elphaba was breathing hard, her gaze hard but not quite angry.  There was something glimmering in her eyes, and Galinda watched as Elphaba licked her lips and swallowed hard.  She flinched when Elphaba’s hands twitched at her sides.

For a moment, the only thing Galinda could hear was her own breath.  And Elphaba’s.  It was quick.  Almost panicked.  Her eyes were impossibly dark under the moonlight.  And Galinda found herself drawn in.  She was moving closer.

But damn it, she wasn’t the only one.  Elphaba pressed forward, just an inch, and Galinda knew what was happening, where it was going.  She drew in a breath again, and Elphaba’s hands tightened at her waist.  Galinda’s eyes fluttered closed when she felt the warmth of Elphaba’s breath against her lips.

She licked her lips and held her breath.  She waited.  She felt a warm puff of breath against her lips again.  Closer.  Warmer.  And then she heard Elphaba gasp.  Her eyes flew open, and she saw something else in those mesmerizing eyes.  Worry.  Fear.  Uncertainty.  Confusion.  Her eyes were wild and wide, and she turned quickly on her heels before Galinda had the chance to protest.

And then there she was, Galinda Upland of the Upper Uplands, standing alone on the cobblestone sidewalk, watching her insufferable roommate flee back to their dorm without the kiss she didn’t realize until that moment she so desperately wanted.

Chapter 3

Elphaba knew the second she closed the door behind herself in the dorm room that she should have gone somewhere else.  Anywhere.  She had half a mind to turn around and beg Nessa to let her sleep on her floor.  But it was too late for that now.  Galinda would be back any second, and she had to think quickly if she was going to avoid looking her in the eye or talking to her.

The room was lit up all over, because of course Galinda hadn’t bothered to turn the lights out before leaving.

With a huff, she made her way around the room, turning out all the lights save for her bedside lamp and Galinda’s.  She grabbed her nightgown and made a beeline for the bathroom.  She’d never changed so quickly in her life.

Day clothes in the hamper, she flicked off the light and stepped out into their shared space.  Galinda wasn’t back yet.  A twinge of something in her gut made her hesitate in the middle of the room.  She pinched the bridge of her nose and winced at the memory of almost giving in to what her body was screaming at her to do.

Galinda had practically been begging her to forgive her.  Each step out there on that sidewalk had felt weighted.  Cold.  It had only been when Galinda had knocked into her that she’d felt the weight of her anger fall away and the warmth of desire settle into her chest and coil dangerously low in her belly.

She placed her hand on her stomach, closing her eyes and taking a couple of calming breaths.  Her heart was still racing.  Her hands were trembling.  The tension between her legs was unbelievable.  And now she was a little pissed off again, because how in Oz had everything turned upside down so quickly?  She’d just wanted to get a little peace and quiet, and when her peace was disturbed by the one person she was trying so hard to avoid, the tension and heat and falling feeling in her gut came back tenfold.

She thought about how good Galinda had smelled, how she could feel the muscles in Galinda’s waist tense under her hands.  She could smell the sweet stickiness of Galinda’s lip gloss.  She could still feel her breath, warm and minty, ghosting over her face.

No.  No.  You’re not doing this.

She wasn’t supposed to feel these things for that woman.

So why was she?

The doorknob rattled, and Elphaba’s eyes flew open.  She glanced at her cot, desperately doing the math to see if she had enough time to make a frantic leap onto it and pretend to be asleep before Galinda opened the door and laid eyes on her.

Instead, she froze, standing in her sleeping gown in the middle of their dorm.  And when Galinda opened the door, she gasped softly and froze with her hand on the doorknob.  Their eyes met, and Elphaba felt like her face was on fire.  A soft pink hue spread over Galinda’s cheeks.  The blonde’s lips parted gently, almost pouting and beautifully glistening with gloss.

Oh no.

Galinda turned then, shutting the door and pausing with her back to Elphaba.  Elphaba’s hands dropped to her sides, uncertain of what to do.  Suddenly, she didn’t feel angry anymore.  Suddenly, she was having trouble remembering what she’d been angry about.  Until Galinda turned around, straightened her back and walked past Elphaba without a word.

Really?

It was just so like her.  She’d followed her all the way to the library, insisted on invading the space she’d come to just to get away from her, and then she’d insisted on following her home, because she couldn’t take the hint that Elphaba just wanted to be left the hell alone.

And yet, Elphaba felt something sidling in alongside the irritation, coiling around it and suppressing the urge to storm out and slam the door.  Her fingers twitched at her sides, and she watched, still, as Galinda moved across the room, grabbed something out of one of her drawers and disappeared into the bathroom.  Silence.

Elphaba let go of the breath she’d been holding.

She turned then, retreating to her cot.  She placed her glasses on the bedside table and turned out her lamp before dragging back the covers and slipping inside.  The light from Galinda’s bedside lamp bathed the room in a harsh, pink glow.  She turned her back to the shared space in their room, closed her eyes and waited.

Her heart was racing in her chest.  It pounded in her temples and between her legs, and her breath hitched when she squeezed her thighs together under the blankets.

Her body was a traitor.  As much as she’d wanted some peace and quiet and to get away from her, everything inside of her was screaming at her that she wanted exactly the opposite.  She wanted to be close to her.  She wanted to touch her.  Wanted to be touched.  Her pulse raced faster just thinking about how she’d feel to be surrounded by Galinda’s glorious scent as those pretty pale hands skimmed over her body.  How those offensively glossy pink nails would feel digging into her flesh, scratching and teasing.

The bathroom door creaked open, and Elphaba froze.  She opened her eyes and stared at the wall, listening for the sounds of Galinda’s feet on the hardwood floor.  She heard the tentative slap of Galinda’s bare feet against the floor.  And then silence.  She’d stopped.  Elphaba closed her eyes again and waited.  After a long few moments, she heard a sigh.  It wasn’t dramatic or attention seeking.  It was heavy and defeated.  Elphaba swallowed hard.  She refused to move.  She willed her body to behave itself and stay still.  And soon, she heard those footfalls against the floor disappear onto the soft rug beside Galinda’s bed.  She heard the bedsprings creak and opened her eyes just in time to see the darkness chase the pink glow off the wall when Galinda turned her lamp off.

Another heavy sigh.  The rustle of bedsheets.  And then silence.

It was the loudest silence Elphaba had ever heard.

She turned onto her back.  She stared at the ceiling.  She tossed the covers halfway off of her until only her legs were covered.  Her cot was more uncomfortable than usual.  Her skin was warm and damp with sweat.

Elphaba glanced across the room, barely able to make out the shape of Galinda under her covers.  The blonde was still, but the heavy sigh that filled the silence let Elphaba know she was very much still awake.

With a frown and a crease in her brows, she turned to face the wall again, glancing out the window and into the pale moonlight, trying to focus on anything to make her forget the tension and need coiling hot in her body.

Somehow, someway, sleep must have finally taken its hold on her, because the next thing she knew, something grazed her bare shoulder.  It was just soft enough to rouse her to consciousness, but her eyes remained closed.  She moaned softly and brushed her hand over her arm before relaxing against the pillow again.

A few moments later, she felt another graze, this one warmer.  More insistent.  Her eyes opened to find that punishing pink glow flooding the room.  She furrowed her brows and turned onto her back.  In a moment, her gaze met a pair of dark brown eyes staring curiously down at her.  Galinda stood there with one hand across her chest, gripping her other arm.  Her hair was curled at the ends, a little messy from sleep—or maybe just from tossing and turning—and the expression on her face was soft and needy.  Elphaba had never seen her look at her this way before.

Galinda stood there looking almost anxious, now biting her bottom lip between her teeth and shifting her weight from one foot to the other.  The silk and lace pink nightie she wore clung to her and ended up below her ass, leaving little to the imagination.  Elphaba couldn’t help but let her gaze draw down between her breasts, unable to ignore the fact that Galinda’s nipples were hard and pressing into the fabric.

Elphaba’s mouth watered, and she sat up quickly, legs swinging over the side.

“Galinda, what are you—”

“Shhh,” Galinda murmured, taking one step between Elphaba’s legs, shins bumping the frame.  Elphaba blinked up at her, watched her staring down at her as if she was afraid to do what came next.  And honestly, Elphaba was mere seconds away from pinching herself to find out if she was dreaming.  But when the overwhelming scent of Galinda’s shampoo and soap surrounded her, reality set in.

“Galinda?”

“You didn’t let me apologize,” Galinda whispered.  “I really am sorry, Elphie.”

Elphie?

Galinda’s hand reached out, grazed down Elphaba’s bare shoulder.  Elphaba shivered at the touch, but she didn’t pull back.  The warmth of Galinda’s hand felt so good.  Why did it have to feel so good?

Her head was swimming.  She felt as if she was stuck someplace between a dream and reality, and when Galinda’s hand found hers upon the bed, she picked it up and brought it to rest upon her hip.  Elphaba stared down at her hand against the pink silk of Galinda’s nightie, relished the smooth feel beneath her fingertips.

Galinda’s fingers curled around her wrist, and she was certain she could feel her pulse rushing.  Elphaba dragged her gaze back up to Galinda’s face and swallowed hard.  Galinda guided Elphaba’s hand higher to rest upon her waist, and Elphaba’s fingers twitched there.  Galinda sighed softly and brought one leg over Elphaba’s to staddle her thigh.

Elphaba’s mouth fell open.  She was beyond words.  Galinda’s fingers guided her hand higher, resting upon her ribs, thumb just barely resting under her breast.  She watched Galinda’s eyelashes flutter, the pink hue of the light bathing her skin, washing out any sign of blushing in the blonde.  But she was warm.  Elphaba could feel the heat under the cool silk of the garment.

Elphaba was trembling, and she knew Galinda could feel it.  Galinda let go of her wrist, but Elphaba’s hand stayed put, her gaze fixed on the blonde’s face as she leaned her head back and leaned her body into Elphaba’s touch.

Galinda Upland, as insufferable as she could be, was deliciously mesmerizing, and Elphaba was wide awake now.

Elphaba’s other hand moved up to rest even on the other side of Galinda’s waist, fingertips applying the gentlest bit of pressure, but it was enough to have Galinda gasping and arching back.  Elphaba had never seen anything quite so beautiful.  And the soft moan that escaped the pretty blonde’s throat had her own core throbbing expectantly between her legs.

Galinda’s hands came up then, gently grazing over Elphaba’s shoulders.  She stepped closer, arms curling around Elphaba’s neck.  And then she lowered herself to sit on Elphaba’s thigh, pressing close until their noses bumped.

Elphaba’s hands stayed firm on Galinda’s waist, and she sat stock still on the cot while Galinda leaned back just enough to look into her eyes.  And then she leaned in again, pressing her forehead to Elphaba’s.

“You can touch me if you want,” she breathed.  “Like you touched me in class today.”  She bit her lip and closed her eyes, and Elphaba’s hands moved down her waist and onto her hips, guided by Galinda’s words and pure, unadulterated desire.  Her brain felt like it was melting in the best way.  Her lips parted, and she let out a shaking breath.  Galinda hummed softly, a little smile curling at her lips.  Elphaba could barley make out her face at this proximity, but she saw enough to know that Galinda was enjoying herself.  “Can I touch you?”

Fuck

Words failed Elphaba once again, but her head nodded briefly.  Just enough to let her know that it was ok.  She wanted this.  She couldn’t believe she wanted this.  But in this moment, it was all and everything she wanted.  Galinda kept one arm curled around Elphaba’s neck.  The other one dropped to her side for a moment.  She stood long enough to push up the hem of Elphaba’s nightgown, revealing a slender, green leg under the harsh pink hue of her lamplight.  Elphaba shivered and shifted on the bed.  Galinda lowered herself down onto Elphaba’s now bare thigh.

Elphaba’s eyes went wide, a gasp slipping from her lips.  The bare skin and wet heat against her thigh told her everything she needed to know, and when she looked Galinda in the eye, she swore she saw the blonde smirk.  But it didn’t last long, because Elphaba’s body stiffened, and the tension in her thigh made Galinda nearly come undone.

“Oh, Oz,” she gasped, hand gripping Elphaba’s other thigh for a moment.  Elphaba closed her eyes and let Galinda lean into her, forehead to forehead until both of them were panting softly at the sensation.  Galinda started to move then, rocking her hips against Elphaba’s tense thigh.  And Elphaba’s hands gripped her hips tightly, pressing down just enough that Galinda was shuddering at the change in pressure and the extra friction.

Galinda’s arm fell slack against Elphaba’s shoulder, and she gripped the back of her nightgown to keep from falling back.  Her other hand moved up Elphaba’s other thigh, squeezing with each rock of her hips.  Elphaba groaned as fingertips slipped against the front of her underwear, and she flushed deeply knowing they were soaked with her arousal.

Her head fell forward then.  She buried  her face against Galinda’s neck, panting and moaning as Galinda’s fingertips stroked up against her naval and then dipped back down, slipping into the front of her underwear.  Her hips bucked the moment those warm fingers teased against her clit.

Fuck, Galinda,” she panted, her words muffled against Galinda’s impossibly smooth skin.  Galinda’s hips never stopped moving.  She kept grinding down, and Elphaba’s hands tightened on her hips, keeping her in place.  She felt her jaw clench when Galinda’s fingers dipped lower and teased against her sopping core.

Everything felt like it was spinning and floating and flying, and she screwed her eyes shut tightly when Galinda pushed one finger against her entrance.  Elphaba whimpered, head falling back now, and she forced her eyes to open just in time to see Galinda’s smirk fade into something soft.

“You’re so wet, Elphie,” Galinda whispered in awe, breath ghosting across Elphaba’s mouth.  Elphaba’s mouth fell open in a needy cry, hips stuttering against Galinda’s hand as she stroked her.  And Galinda leaned in, brushing her nose against Elphaba’s and tilting her head up to bump her lower lip against Elphaba’s upper lip in a tentative kiss.  She pushed a finger inside of her, deep to the last knuckle, and Elphaba cursed under her breath.

Elphaba closed her eyes then, gently rocking her pelvis against Galinda’s fingers and arching her neck to chase the sensation of Galinda’s mouth against hers.  Galinda’s hand twisted tighter into the back of Elphaba’s night gown, and the twitch of Elphaba’s leg muscles against her clit had her crying out.  Elphaba arched into her, mouth ghosting over Galinda’s cheek until the blonde turned her head and went all in.  Her tongue slipped against Elphaba’s, claiming her in a needy, hungry, devastating kiss.  Elphaba’s nails dug into her hip, and they were both moving together, chasing pleasure from each other’s bodies.

Elphaba broke first, and it happened so fast she had to pull away from the kiss to catch her breath.  She started to fall back against the mattress as her muscles clenched around Galinda’s finger, but Galinda tightened her hold and kept her upright.  Her hips moved faster, and she was grinding down on Elphaba’s thigh harder and with more insistence, and soon, she was crying out as she started to come apart.

Elphaba, still reeling from  her own orgasm, felt the warm wetness coating her thigh as Galinda shuddered and jerked against her, and when her motions slowed and came to a halt, they clung to each other, halfway upright on the bed, staring at one another in the pink haze.  Galinda’s lips were parted and kiss-swollen, and Elphaba’s body, still feeling the aftershocks of pleasure, struggled to remember how to not swallow her own tongue.

The air was thick and heavy around them.  Breaths mingled together.  The smell of sex and vanilla-scented soap surrounded them.  Galinda’s eyes were impossibly dark, and a bead of sweat dripped down from her chin and landed perfectly against her chest, slipping and soaking into the lace that barely covered her breasts.  Elphaba broke her gaze to follow the path of that Oz damned droplet, and that was when Galinda made her move.

She stood, legs wobbly, and she gently tugged Elphaba’s gown down over her legs as her own gown fell in place to cover her.  She unclenched her fingers from the back of Elphaba’s gown and pulled her hand free from between her legs, fingers wet and glistening.  She started to take a step back, and Elphaba pulled her hands away.  She felt Galinda’s eyes on her, and the deep heat filling her cheeks brought her back into the reality of the moment.  Her gaze fell to the hard wood floor and Galinda’s perfectly painted toenails.  Her hands clenched at the sides of her gown, uncertain what to do, what to touch.  Words, still, failed her.

Galinda let out a trembling breath and turned before either of them could say something to address what had just happened here.  She moved, on shaking legs, across the suite to the bathroom and shut the door behind her.

Elphaba, body still shaking, mind still reeling, found an ounce of composure and dragged her gaze up to the bathroom door when she heard the squeak of the faucet turning on and water splashing into the tub.  She blinked in sober realization.

What in Oz did we just do?

Chapter 4

What did I just do?

Galinda Upland held her breath, pinched her nose and submerged herself in the hot bath water, soaking her hair and letting the heat envelop her completely before she came up for air.  She gripped the sides of the tub and gasped for breath, blinking the water out of her eyes until her vision cleared.

She could hear Elphaba out in the suite.  She was moving.  Pacing?  Galinda couldn’t be sure, but she was hyper aware that she’d just had the most intense orgasm she’d ever experienced just from grinding on her roommate’s thigh and bringing her over the edge at the same time.

Galinda pressed her hand against her damp chest and felt the deep pounding of her heart against her fingertips.  She closed her eyes and listened to the soft sloshing of the water calm her down.

What was I thinking?

She hadn’t been. Not really.  Or maybe she’d been thinking too much.  In all honestly, she hadn’t been able to so much as doze off before thoughts of what happened outside the library came crashing back in.  The intensity with which she’d flown through a cacophony of feelings in that moment still felt fresh and raw under her skin.

The rush.  The free-falling feeling when she’d thought Elphaba was going to kiss her.  It had carved out a space inside her mind and refused to leave until she knew for certain.  Had Elphaba felt it, that white-hot, soul-shaking moment of clarity?  All of the fighting, all of the avoiding, all of the push and pull?  It had all come down to one moment on a dark, breezy cobblestone pathway, a pair of dark green eyes staring into her soul like it held the key to the heavens.

And now?

Now, for the first time, Galinda Upland knew what it was to come undone.

And Elphaba had barely touched her.

It was powerful.  Erotic.  It was everything she never knew it was supposed to be, and now she craved more.  And—

Oh my Oz.

She sat up straight in the tub, eyes wide.  She’d really just done that.  She’d really just come onto her roommate—the same girl she’d been at odds with for weeks—and had touched her.  She’d used her leg for her own pleasure and gotten her off in return, and now she was going to have to go back out there and act like…what?  Like nothing happened.  Was that what she was supposed to do?  What if Elphaba wanted to talk about it?  What if she didn’t want to talk about it?  What did this mean?  Were they supposed to stop arguing now?  Were they supposed to keep arguing and act like nothing happened until it happened again? Oh Oz, what if it didn’t happen again?  But, what if it did?

Galinda found herself holding her breath and gasped sharply when her head started to swim.  She quickly got out of the tub and let the water drain.  She dried off her body before wrapping a towel around her sopping hair.

And then she stood there naked in the bathroom, suddenly realizing she was going to have to go back out there where Elphaba was probably waiting to wash up just like she was.  And she had no idea what to do next.

She hadn’t felt this awkward since her first time.  And this wasn’t even her first time with a girl.  This was, however, the first time she’d been so worked up over someone that she just had to do something about it.  And to her surprise and delight, Elphaba had wanted it just as much as she had. She’d been so wet and so tight, and the way she’d kissed her with pure need and passion had made the pleasure that much more intense.

As the last bit of water sloshed down the drain, the room fell silent, and Galinda held her breath a moment, listening for Elphaba.  Nothing.

It was odd, this feeling coiling in her chest.  For the first time in weeks, she wasn’t feeling annoyed or frustrated or infuriatingly aroused.  She was anxious.  Once she stepped out of that bathroom, she was going to have to face what they’d done.  What she’d done.  And what if Elphaba regretted it?  She hadn’t exactly stuck around to cuddle with her after.  She’d retreated to the bathroom so fast, and now that the shock was wearing off, she felt like she’d did something terrible.  What if that was Elphaba’s first time?  What if she was sitting out there wondering what to do.  What if she…?

Galinda took a shaking breath, straightened her back and swallowed hard.  There was no use in thinking about the what ifs.  She had to go out there, face her roommate and figure out what this meant going forward.

She grabbed a towel, wrapped it around her slender frame and opened the door.  The room was still flooded with pink lamplight, and she blinked and squinted into the harshness of it all only to find Elphaba…gone.

Her heart felt like it had dropped into her stomach.  She paused—hand at her chest—and scanned the room for any sign of her roommate.

Elphaba’s bedsheets were still rumpled.  The pink lamplight glinted on the edge of the little glass bottle she kept under her pillow, so she knew she couldn’t have gone far.  Galinda swallowed hard and made her way across the room.  She quickly changed from her towel to a fresh gown, unwrapped the other towel from her hair and brushed it out.  She hated going to bed with wet hair, but she wasn’t certain what to do.  Should she go look for Elphaba?  Should she wait up?  Each option felt equal parts right and wrong.

So, she did the only other thing she could think of.  She retreated to her bed, pulled back the covers and crawled in.  She felt a little numb as she reached over to turn off her lamp.  The room went dark.  Silent.  She turned to face Elphaba’s bed and tugged the covers up over her shoulder.

She was positively buzzing with energy, so sleep was the last thing on her mind.  However, when she heard the doorknob rattle, she closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep.  It was the only thing she could think to do that didn’t leave her with a hollow feeling in the pit of her stomach.

The soft shuffle of bare feet against the floor stopped as Elphaba shut the door.  She heard a soft sigh followed by the creaking of the cot springs as Elphaba slipped into bed.

Galinda lay there for what felt like hours.  Elphaba was still across the room.  Almost too still. Was she feigning sleep, too?  Galinda worried her bottom lip between her teeth.  Her breath hitched in her chest, and she sat up in her bed, peering across the room.

“Elphaba?” she whispered.  “Are you awake?”

What followed was the loudest silence she’d ever heard.

*~*~*~*~*

When Galinda had finally fallen asleep, she slept like the dead.  It wasn’t until the morning sunlight began to shine in through the terrace doors that she stirred.  Then the sting of nature hit her, and she groaned, sitting up in bed and rubbing her eyes.  She frowned and blinked away sleep before tossing back the covers and swinging her legs over the edge of the bed.

That’s when she noticed Elphaba’s bed was empty and neatly made.  Her stack of books were gone, as was one the dresses she’d hung up the day before.

Galinda stared at the empty space and flinched.

It wasn’t unusual for Elphaba to leave to avoid her, but this felt different.  They were going to have to address what happened, right?  They couldn’t just avoid each other for the rest of the year.  Could they?

She dragged herself out of bed and hurried around the dorm getting dressed.  When she sat down to do her hair and makeup, it took her a little longer, because her hands were trembling.

She noticed it.  She tried not to, but when she had to take several deep breaths to still her hands long enough to get the curls just right in her hair, she knew she had a problem.  The problem was named Elphaba Thropp.

How dare she up and leave like that after everything?  Maybe she needed her space.  Maybe she just wanted to forget it.  Or maybe she wanted to drive her roommate crazy.  She had knack for it, after all.  Not only had she succeeded at driving Galinda up the wall, but she’d gotten even more under the blonde’s skin than usual.  Galinda couldn’t deny the rush of heat she felt when she thought of her.  Her face flushed.  The moment she thought about Elphaba’s fingers gripping her hips, nails digging in, her core throbbed.

The worst part of all?  It was her own fault.  Not Elphaba’s.  If only she’d just left well enough alone and stayed on her side of the fucking room, she wouldn’t be struggling to look presentable.  She wouldn’t be wondering where her roommate was.  She wouldn’t be worrying about her.  Because since when did she worry about Elphaba Thropp?

Oz damn it.

When she finally got herself together and grabbed her books for the day, she made her way down to the dining hall.  Her own appetite was the furthest thing from her mind.  When she stepped in, she looked around, saw Pfannee and Shenshen who quickly waved at her to come over.  She ignored them completely and turned with a huff to head back outside.  Their gasps of shock and disappointment did not go unnoticed, but she was too preoccupied to care.

The only other place she could think to find her would be exactly where she’d found her last night.  So, she headed off toward the library and went directly to the place she’d found her last night.  A couple of girls Galinda recognized from Dr. Dillamond’s class were seated having a muffin and looking over their homework.

She moved on to a few other spots she might find her roommate, but there was no sign of her.  Soon, time was running short, so she moved on to her first class.  By the time she sat down, her stomach was rumbling, she was thinking about things that weren’t at all related to the subject the professor was lecturing, and she was fidgeting.

“What’s wrong with you?” Shenshen even whispered to her from behind.  Galinda simply turned in her seat and blinked at her.

“Have you seen Elphaba this morning?” she asked directly, dark brown eyes staring into the befuddled face of her friend.  Shenshen made a face, brow crinkling.

“No.  Why?”

“No reason,” Galinda muttered, turning in her chair.  She tried to focus on the professor’s words, but all she could think of was how she needed to see Elphaba as soon as possible and clear things up before they got too confusing.

“Why are you being weird?” Shenshen asked.  Galinda jumped and turned in her seat.

“I’m not,” she insisted, hand flying to her chest in a desperate attempt to look offended.  Shenshen just pursed her lips, lifted an eyebrow and leaned back in her seat.  Galinda, normally the picture of poise with excellent posture, slumped down in her seat and picked up her pen, scrawling mindlessly as the professor droned on.

Once class let out, Shenshen called for her, but Galinda out the first one out the door, heading down to Dr. Dillamond’s class, hoping she could get there before everyone else.  Elphaba was almost always the first one to class, and if she could get there first, maybe, just maybe they could talk.

Only, when she arrived, there was no Elphaba.  Students came ambling in every few minutes, and soon, Dr. Dillamond himself arrived. Still no Elphaba.

Galinda cleared her throat and tried to listen to Pfannee and Shenshen’s gossip while Dr. Dillamond sorted through his notes for the day.  But when the sound of hurried steps echoed down the hall, her head snapped up, and her gaze focused on the doorway until Elphaba came rushing in, books clutched to her chest.  Her braids were pulled back into a ponytail, and it hung loose down her back.  She pushed her glasses up her nose with her index finger and whispered an apology to Dr. Dillamond before taking her seat across the room.

She didn’t look up.  Galinda stared at her, willing her with her mind to just look up at her.  But she settled into her seat, trying to slow her breathing from her sprint to class.  She was looking everywhere but at Galinda, and after a few moments, she was staring down at the pages of her text book.  Galinda huffed out a frustrated breath through her nose.

Look up.  Look at me, Oz damn it!

“Teacher’s pet is late?  I’m shocked,” Shenshen snorted.

“Aw, maybe she crawled out of her pea pod and found someone to play with,” Pfannee teased.  “I guess even green girls need love, too.”  Galinda swallowed hard.  The notion to turn around and tell both of her friends to shut up rose in her throat, but something distracted her.  She noticed the way Elphaba’s shoulders went rigid for a moment.  The way her fingers that were tapping gently against the side of her book stopped moving.  It was just for a moment.  And then her shoulders rose and fell with a deep breath before she went back to her reading.  “Huh, so I guess that answers that,” Pfannee smirked.

“What?” Shenshen asked, twirling a bit of blonde hair around the length of her pen.

“She’s even greener when she’s blushing.”  He said it loud enough for everyone to hear.  Including Elphaba.  A few other students, including Shenshen, laughed.  Elphaba’s head snapped up, and she just stared at Pfannee until his smirk faded and he swallowed.  Loudly.  Galinda kept her gaze fixed on Elphaba’s face, but her roommate’s stare did not falter from Pfannee’s face until she tilted her head back toward her book.

Seriously?!

Elphaba never looked at her.  Not once.  And Galinda knew that for certain, because she barely looked away from her for the duration of class.  She absorbed exactly nothing that Dr. Dillamond had said, and she was pretty sure that Elphaba hadn’t been paying attention either.  She’d dutifully scrawled things out in her notebook, but Galinda noticed the way her eyes would get this glassy look in them from time to time.  Was she thinking about last night, too?  Was she experiencing even a fraction of the anxiety on the inside that Galinda was?

At one point during class, Dr. Dillamond had asked Galinda a question, and when she hadn’t heard him, Shenshen had not so delicately kicked her ankle.  She’d gasped and blinked and stumbled through an answer to a question that she hadn’t heard, and thankfully, Dr. Dillamond had taken pity on her.  He’d only sighed and moved on to the next student instead of shaming her in front of the entire class.  And then she’d looked to Elphaba who was scribbling furiously in her notebook.

When class was over, Galinda had meant to go after Elphaba, but she’d tripped over another student’s bag on her way out, spilling out the contents.  She’d stopped to help them pick it up and then lost sight of Elphaba in the crowd in the hall.

Throughout the rest of the day, even in their shared classes, Galinda had had no luck in trying to get a moment with Elphaba.  So, she decided that she was going to have to take matters into her own hands.

After her last class, she dropped her books off at the dorm, unsurprised to find Elphaba wasn’t there and hadn’t been there since whenever she’d left early that morning.  She’d made her way straight to the library and headed right up to the rare book section.

She’d spotted Elphaba’s bundle of books perched on the table by the chair next to her open notebook.  And that was when she caught a glimpse of a green hand from behind one of the bookshelves.  She paused, hands smoothing down the front of her simple pink dress.  Her heart was racing again as she thought about looking Elphaba in the eye for the first time since last night.  They were going to have this conversation, and that was all there was to it.

She looked around to see if anyone was around.  The place was deserted save for her greenified roommate.

She took in a shaking breath and let it out slowly before she stepped up alongside the bookshelf Elphaba was perusing.  Elphaba’s back was to her, and her hand was trailing along the spines of thick, dusty old books.  She pulled one out, and a puff of dust came along with it.  Galinda couldn’t help herself.  She coughed, and Elphaba nearly jumped out of her skin.

“Galinda!  What are you doing here?”

Galinda blinked at her, eyes wide and startled.

“Hello.”

Hello?  Stupid!

Elphaba’s brows furrowed, and her hands clasped at the sides of her skirts.  Galinda’s gaze moved down to them, remembering how those hands had felt on her hips when she was riding her thigh.  Her throat suddenly went dry.  She swallowed and offered a weak smile.

“Elphaba, are you avoiding me?” she managed to croak out.  Elphaba’s lips twitched in what almost looked like a smirk.  She opened her mouth to speak, maybe to say something hurtful.  But she closed her mouth and straightened her back.

“I have work to do,” she said quietly, turning her back to Galinda again.  Galinda folded her arms across her chest and took a step toward her, uncertain if the tightness in her chest was from frustrated anger or something else entirely.

“You were gone last night,” she whispered quietly, gaze flickering up to meet Elphaba’s.  Elphaba’s mouth set in a thin line, shoulders slumping slightly.

“I used the showers down the hall.  You know, the ones everyone else uses who weren’t lucky enough to get a private bathroom in their private suite.”  The second the words left her mouth, her gaze flickered, softened.  She looked like she regretted her words.

“You were gone this morning,” Galinda pointed out.  Elphaba put a book back on the shelf and grabbed another.

“I was hungry.  I grabbed breakfast and went to the gardens to read.”   Galinda was surprised she shared that much with her.

“Oh.”  She swallowed hard and took another step closer until she and Elphaba were both between the old book cases.  Elphaba took a step back, bumping into one wobbly shelf.  “Don’t you think we should talk?”

“About what?” Elphaba had tried to sound nonchalant, but the way her voice quivered gave her away.  Galinda could see her resolve was crumbling, and she wasn’t sure if that made her feel better or worse.  But she also couldn’t help but notice how Elphaba was staring at her lips now and how her tongue darted out to wet her bottom lip.  Galinda took a deep breath, brows raising.  But then she lost her nerve.

“Not here,” she said quietly.  “Will you be home late?”

Elphaba swallowed and shook her head.

“Not too late.”  Galinda was still so close, close enough to feel Elphaba’s quick little breaths ghosting across her cheek.  Her own gaze faltered and fell to Elphaba’s lips, and she suddenly couldn’t think straight.  Everything went hazy, and her own heart was thundering so loudly in her ears that she found it hard to focus on anything except for those impossibly green eyes and those plump, wet lips.

Before any rational thought could come pulling her back to her senses, she was leaning in.  And the thing was, Elphaba wasn’t pulling away.  And when their lips met, Galinda moaned softly, gently brushing her lower lip against Elphaba’s upper, waiting for her to make a choice.  The moment Galinda’s breath brushed against her Elphaba’s lips, everything fell away except for the pair of hands that gripped her waist and pulled her close, the lips that opened up to hers, the tongue that brushed across hers.  Galinda shivered and pulled her arms around Elphaba’s neck, sinking into the kiss until she felt herself being pushed back against the bookshelves.

Elphaba’s hands were moving now.  Up her hips, up her waist, cradling her face.

Oh Oz, those hands.  Please don’t stop touching me.

Galinda tugged Elphaba’s bottom lip between her teeth, tearing a moan from Elphaba’s throat.  And Galinda’s arms tightened around her roommate, panting between kisses as Elphaba pressed her back against one of the dusty shelves.

She’s so good at this.  Oh, Oz.  She’s done this before.  I wonder what else…

One of Elphaba’s wandering hands came down to caress down Galinda’s back, over her ass and then down to grab the back of her leg.  She pulled Galinda’s leg up to drape over her hip, and Galinda gasped the second she felt Elphaba’s thigh press into her.  She pulled back, staring directly into Elphaba’s eyes, watching her pupils darken, watching her lips part in desperate, hungry breaths.

And just as she was leaning in for another kiss, a voice from close by broke through the tension and had them pulling apart so quickly it was as if lightning had struck the space between them.  They stared at each other, both wide eyed, both with kiss-swollen lips.  Galinda smoothed her hands down the front of her rumpled dress before running her fingers through her hair to make sure it was settled.  She took a deep breath, straightened her shoulders and reached out to rub her thumb over Elphaba’s bottom lip, swiping off a smear of pinkish lip gloss.

“Don’t be too late,” she whispered before turning and leaving Elphaba standing there alone between the rare bookshelves with a dazed look upon her face.

Chapter 5

Elphaba Thropp stood outside in front of the dormitory with her books hugged against her chest.  She stared at the door as if she was about to walk through it for the last time.  She felt a heavy sense of dread in the pit of her gut just thinking about what she was walking into.

She could still feel the slight traces of Galinda’s viscous lip gloss on her lip, could still taste it—and their kiss—on her mouth and tongue.  She felt like her bones were shaking with an excess amount of energy that she just didn’t know what to do with.  And she’d almost let that feeling overtake her in the library today.  If they hadn’t been interrupted, Oz only knew what would have happened.

Her heart was pounding again.  All she could think about was those delicious little moans Galinda had made when they were kissing.  She could still feel Galinda’s teeth tugging on her lip and how soft the back of her leg was when she’d pulled Galinda’s leg up over her hip.

She closed her eyes, body reacting to the memory.  She hugged her books harder, nipples stiffening, thighs clenching, heart dancing to a beat she didn’t quite recognize.

Her face felt hot as she thought about how responsive she’d been back at the library and how she’d kissed Galinda with such passion and need that it had taken them both by surprise.  But the way Galinda had leaned into her, the way she’d clung to her, Oz, the way she’d looked at her before she walked away was constantly creeping into her thoughts.

She could smell Galinda’s sweet scent on her clothes.  She could taste her on her lips.  And the way her body was reacting now, she wanted to taste more of her, wanted to get lost in the feel of a touch that was warm and inviting. The way her stomach twisted into knots, the way her core throbbed and her nipples strained against fabric, begging to be touched?  It was overwhelming.  Intoxicating.  It was what she’d read about in the books she’d found in the attic a few years ago.  She’d been looking for something.  What?  She couldn’t remember, because she’d stumbled across a dusty box of her mother’s things and found a large stack of romance novels.  They were unlike anything she’d ever read before.  They were indulgent and sometimes poorly written, but Oz, the feelings they stirred up in her felt sacred and unholy at the same time.  And over one summer she’d read them all, craving a fraction of the pleasure these main character women seemed to get from their partners.

One of the books had surprised her entirely.  It was very well loved, she could tell, due to the creases on the cover and the spine.  The pages were yellowed with time, certain sections even bookmarked with things like clovers and flower petals.  But the thing that stood out to her was that the lovers were two women.  And it had been the most erotic piece of writing she’d ever read.  Again, the writing wasn’t award winning, but the passion and emotion between the two characters had been palpable.  She’d spent many nights wondering why her body reacted so differently to that book.

The book had woken something in her, and she craved more.  She’d found a few more books by the same author and purchased them discretely.  She felt silly.  Embarrassed.  She’d spent all of her life reading about odysseys and powerful figures.  But she had her secret, guilty little pleasure that she read in the quiet of the night by candle light after everyone had gone to sleep.  And in that little world, she could fantasize.

But that’s all it ever was.  Fantasy.  She’d never let herself get close enough to anyone to have experiences like she’d read about.  Oh, but it didn’t mean she didn’t crave them.

And now her body reacted in those same ways at the mere thought of what she and Galinda had done.  Feeling Galinda grinding against her thigh, feeling Galinda’s fingers between her legs…oh, she was trembling at the memory.  And today in the library, she’d ached for those touches all over again.  She’d let all of the thoughts running through her head stop.  She’d let her body take the lead and do what felt natural.  It felt good.

She couldn’t understand why, out of all people, her body reacted so strongly toward Galinda.  Of all the people in Oz, why was it that Galinda Upland was the only person she couldn’t stop thinking of.  And that was before last night.  Now?  Now, she couldn’t even try not to think of her, because Galinda’s touch and scent and the taste of her lips was emblazoned in the fabric of her memories.  Galinda Upland was her first kiss.  Galinda Upland was her first sexual experience.  Galinda Upland was the last person in Oz she’d expected to do those things with.  Yet, she wanted more.  She needed more.

The last thing she wanted to do when she walked in that door was talk

She realized people were staring at her staring at the building, and she pulled herself out of her thoughts long enough to walk inside.  As usual, a few students made a show of moving out of the way even though Elphaba wasn’t in their way at all.

She ignored them, as she was used to doing, and she made her way up the stairs and down the hall to their shared suite.  She stared at the door a little too long.  A couple of girls who lived down the hall passed by whispering and giggled when they saw her staring at the door, as if they were trying to be obvious they were talking about her.

When they disappeared around the corner, she took a deep breath and opened the door, bracing herself for whatever it was Galinda was about to say to her.  She wasn’t sure what would be worse: Galinda wanting to talk about the encounter last night or Galinda wanting to finally have that argument that they’d been building up to but never seemed to have, because every time they got within two feet of each other, all thoughts flew to unholy places that made Elphaba’s whole body pulse.

Elphaba scanned the room when she stepped in, and when she turned to take her books over to her side of the suite, she saw Galinda sitting right there on her cot waiting for her.  She paused.  Galinda’s face was unreadable.  There was a flicker of something in those hypnotizing brown eyes, and Elphaba felt a shiver run down her spine.

She hugged her books a little tighter to her chest, and Galinda stood up. Galinda wrung her hands together and then brought them back down to grip the sides of her dress.

Oh, she’s nervous.

“You’re home.”  Galinda’s voice was higher in what seemed like an attempt to be light and nonchalant.  The quiver of her bottom lip and the way her fingers clenched her skirt told a different story.

“I am.”  Elphaba moved closer and leaned down to put her books on her bedside table.  She straightened, and the scent of vanilla hit her like a tidal wave.  Why did she have to smell so Oz-damned good?  She stood up straight and clenched one of her fists at her sides, nails biting into the palm of her hand in an attempt to distract her from the overwhelming things her body was going through just being within two feet of her blonde roommate.

She looked at Galinda, brows slightly raised, waiting for her to start talking.  After all, Galinda was the one that wanted to talk.  Galinda was the one who told her not to be too late.  Now, she was just staring at her, lips all glossy and parted, eyes wide with a question that she didn’t seem to be able to ask.

“Galinda?”

“Hmm?”

“Are you ready?”  She reached down to start unbuttoning her waist coat while she waited for Galinda to speak.

“Ready?”

“To talk.”

“Talk?  About what?”  Galinda blinked at her, eyes still wide, gaze moving lower.

Elphaba’s hand paused on the button of her waistcoat.  She realized Galinda was staring at her hand.  She looked down and then back up to see Galinda correct her gaze.  Elphaba resumed unbuttoning her waistcoat before she draped it over the back of a nearby chair.  She started to untuck her blue button down shirt from her skirt but thought better of it when she saw Galinda’s cheeks flush pink.

“You wanted to talk.”

“I did,” Galinda said slowly.  “Right.”  Galinda cleared her throat and took a step toward Elphaba long enough to brush past her and put a little space between them.  Elphaba let out a sigh of relief that she hoped Galinda hadn’t heard.

“First of all, I want to clear the air.  I’m sorry for how I’ve treated you.”  Elphaba furrowed her brows.

That’s what she wants to talk about?

“I…ok.  You already apologized for yesterday,” Elphaba said slowly.

“Well, yes.  But you didn’t forgive me.”  She blinked at her, brows raised, lips set in a serious line.  Elphaba stared.

“I did.”  Her brows knit together.  She watched Galinda put her hands on her hips.

“You did not.  I apologized, and you didn’t say anything.”

Because you distracted me with sex.

“Oh.  I forgive you.”

Galinda stared at her.

“You don’t sound like you mean it.”

Oz damn it.

“You’re insufferable,” Elphaba sighed.  She sat down on her cot and started unlacing her boots.  Her slender green fingers worked deftly with the strings for a moment before the silence became too much.  She glanced up to see Galinda watching her closely.  She removed one boot and straightened up again.  “I forgive you, Galinda.”  Her voice was softer this time.

“But I really am sorry.  For everything, Elphaba.  I haven’t been a good roommate or a good friend.”

“We aren’t friends,” Elphaba said slowly, watching Galinda flinch at the words.  “And I haven’t exactly been the best roommate either.  So if you want my forgiveness, Galinda, you have it.  Alright?”  She started working on the other boot, and when she slipped it off and looked up, Galinda was still watching her.  “Was there something else?”

Galinda opened her mouth to speak and promptly closed it again.  She worried her perfectly glossed bottom lip between her teeth, wrung her hands together again and then sighed.  Elphaba stood then, hands smoothing over the front of her skirt.

“Last night.  What happened was…”  Galinda swallowed hard, gaze moving down to the floor, to Elphaba’s feet.  Elphaba took a deep breath and took a step forward, ready to face this head on finally.  The longer they put off talking about it, the more awkward things would be.  If they were going to move past this rivalry they’d had with one another and just co-exist as roommates, they were going to have to clear the air about last night.

“Unexpected?” Elphaba offered, brows lifting as she took off her glasses and placed them on the bedside table.  Galinda sighed and took a step forward.

“It…it was.  It was unexpected.  Um, but it wasn’t…bad.  Was it?”  Galinda, usually so poised and precise with her words, struggled to get words out.  Elphaba swallowed hard.  “Elphaba, last night is all I can think about.”  Her face was flushing deeper now, and Elphaba’s pulse began to quicken.  “And I was wondering if you…if you were thinking about it.”  She took a shaking breath, and Elphaba desperately wanted to just reach out and kiss her, but what did that mean for what was  next?  They were supposed to be…what?  Roommates who kissed and touched and made each other feel good despite barely being able to get along at all?

But Elphaba’s gaze was now fixed on Galinda’s lips, and words were struggling to form.

“Elphaba?”

“I…”

“Can you…I mean…”  Galinda’s breaths quickened, and she looked like she was going to hyperventilate.  And for a moment, Elphaba didn’t know what to say or do.  But then Galinda was coming toward her.  The next thing she knew, Galinda’s soft hands were cradling her jaw, and she was kissing her hungrily, deeply.  Elphaba moaned against her lips, opening up to her so quickly she felt like everything was spinning.  Her hands pulled at Galinda’s waist, pulling her against her body and holding her close as teeth clashed and tongues and lips drew out deep, needful moans.

Elphaba found herself stumbling backward, and when the back of her leg knocked into a chair, the motion pulled her from the kiss, and they both stood there staring at one another wide-eyed and flushed.

The sound of heavy, deep breaths filled the room, and Galinda’s fingers traced over her own lips.

“Galinda…I…”  Elphaba shook her head and held her hands up, but those hands were shaking as adrenaline made her blood rush white-hot.

“Elphie,” Galinda murmured softly, taking a step toward her.

“What…what are we doing?  We don’t even like each other.”  The words fell flat between them.  Elphaba’s hands were trembling, and she found herself reaching for Galinda despite her own words.

“I like the way your hands feel on me,” Galinda breathed, blinking slowly, eyes filled with something that Elphaba couldn’t only imagine was lust, the very thing she was feeling at that moment.  “I want to feel them on me again.  All over.  Elphaba, I’m going positively crazy over here.”  She bit her bottom lip again, and that was all it took.  Elphaba’s hands flew to her waist, tugging her forward, and she kissed her fiercely, with everything she had in her.  Galinda’s hands were on her waist then, tugging the tail of Elphaba’s shirt out of her skirt, fingers skimming over the flesh on her stomach as she worked.  Elphaba gasped, fingers gripping Galinda’s hips tightly.

“Galinda,” she panted.

“Please,” Galinda begged, tugging Elphaba’s bottom lip between her teeth.  “I need you to touch me, Elphie.”  Elphaba’s hands stalled at her hips now.  Her fingers flexed.  Reality came screaming back to her, and she found herself staggering back.  Galinda blinked at her in surprise, lips so perfectly kiss-swollen that Elphaba felt an ache deep down that she couldn’t soothe. “What?  What’s wrong?”

“I don’t…I don’t know what I’m doing here.”

“Oh, you’re playing coy now, Miss Thropp?”  She smirked and reached for Elphaba again, but Elphaba grabbed her wrists gently and held her there.  Galinda searched her eyes, seeing the vulnerability, raw and honest, brimming in her eyes.  “You…you’re not kidding.”  Elphaba shook her head.  Galinda stared at her a moment, blinking.  And then, her eyes widened.  She pulled back from Elphaba’s grasp.  “Wait.  You mean last night…that was your first time?”  Elphaba swallowed hard and nodded.  “Oh, Oz.  Oh Elphaba, I didn’t know.” Elphaba took a deep breath and wiped the sweat off of her brow as she took a moment to pull herself together.  Galinda was still staring at her.

“Why do you seem so surprised?” Elphaba asked, brows furrowing.  Surely Galinda didn’t expect the uniquely green-colored girl to have had many dalliances before.  Galinda cocked her head to the side, a little smile playing on the corner of her lips.

“It’s just…you kiss me like you know what you’re doing.”  A little snort fell out of Elphaba.

“Thank you?”  Galinda took a step toward her.

“You’re not kidding me,” she gasped.  “You really aren’t?”  Elphaba shook her head.  Galinda’s eyes went wide.

“Oh my…Oz.  Your first time, and I just used you like…Elphaba, I’m so sorry.”  Her eyes were wide.  Genuine.  Elphaba swallowed the lump in her throat.  She’d never seen this side of her roommate before, and honestly, it was touching.

“Galinda.  You don’t have to apologize.  I didn’t tell you.  I don’t…regret it.  I mean, if that’s what you’re asking.”  Her face was hot now, and Galinda’s hand dramatically moved to her own forehead.

“Your first time, and I used you for my own selfish purposes.  I really am a terrible roommate.”  Elphaba narrowed her eyes at Galinda for a moment, and then a smile spread over her face.  A genuine, amused smile.  And then she laughed.  Cackled, actually.  Galinda’s eyes went wide with surprise.  “Elphaba Thropp!  What in Oz is so funny?!”

“You,” Elphaba snorted, wiping at her own eyes to collect the tears that brimmed there.  Galinda’s brows knit together, and she crossed her arms in front of her chest.  “You’re worried that the fact that you used my leg to get an orgasm means you’re a terrible roommate.  I…”  She snorted and shook her head.  “I can think of worse things a roommate could do.  Besides, you weren’t exactly selfish.  You took care of me, too.”  The laughter was gone, but there was still a fond smile on her face.  Galinda’s face softened from the frustrated scowl brought on by Elphaba’s laugh.

“Well,” Galinda huffed, “if I’d known if was your first time, I’d have at least gone down on you.”  Elphaba’s brows shot up.  The filth that had just come out of that blonde haired, doe-eyed girl’s mouth sent a jolt of desire straight to her core.  Galinda clicked her tongue in what appeared to be disappointment and shook her head.  “What a shame.”

Is she serious?

Galinda turned then and started across the suite to her own bed.

Is she fucking serious?!

The heavy feeling of disappointment that started to settle in Elphaba’s chest was confusing to say the least.  Her body was thrumming.  She could feel her heartbeat between her legs, and she felt like she might explode if she didn’t do something to release the tension soon.  And now Galinda was pulling back the covers on her bed and unbuttoning the first few buttons on her dress.  Elphaba stared at her, jaw slack, fingers twitching as Galinda’s own fingers worked at the buttons.

It was getting late, she supposed, and the moment was over.  As much as she wanted to continue where they’d left off, she figured it was probably for the best.  They could start over.  They could be roommates.  They could be civil.  And they could get through the rest of the school year like the adults they were.  They didn’t have to be friends, but at least they’d cleared the air between them.

Elphaba turned her back to Galinda and finished untucking her own blouse.  She unbuttoned it and slipped it off, placing it on the bed to put in the hamper later.  She was just starting to work on her skirt when she heard Galinda clear her throat.

“Elphie?”

Oh Oz.

A shiver ran up her spine.  She turned to see Galinda lying on her side in the bed, head propped in one hand while the other hand rested provocatively low on her belly.  She was bare naked.  And she was waiting.

Chapter 6

She shouldn’t have turned around.  She shouldn’t have let her gaze linger on the absolute vision of perfection that her roommate’s naked body was lying there so temptingly on the silky pink sheets.  She shouldn’t have then let that gaze wander down between the valley of her roommate’s breasts or down to where her hand was so indecently placed just below her belly button.  And she absolutely shouldn’t have taken two steps closer and then looked her roommate in the eyes.

The little smirk that played on Galinda’s lips made her knees feel week, and she had to pause to quell her thundering heartbeat and steady her shaking hands.  As new and exciting as this way, she wanted it more than anything.  The taste of Galinda’s lips, the feel of her hands, the scent of her arousal.  It had all been on her mind since last night, and her body was beyond craving now that Galinda was lying there like an unwrapped gift ready to be enjoyed.

I shouldn’t want this.

I should go.

I should stop this before things get out of control

But she did want this.  She didn’t want to go.  She wanted to lose control and not in the way that made objects fly skyward and break.

“Elphie, come here,” Galinda urged, voice soft and sweet.  Welcoming.  Needy.  Comforting.  Elphaba felt warm all over, like she was slipping into a hot bath.  Her breath caught in her chest, and she felt every nerve ending in her body begin to wake up.  Here she was standing in the middle of their shared suite, and Galinda was looking at her with those big, brown eyes, tongue darting out to lick her lips.  “Please?”

Galinda lay still on the bed, her gaze now roaming over Elphaba in a way that made her feel both exposed and beautiful at the same time.  Elphaba’s face grew warm, and she took another step toward the blonde.  She was trembling.  Her nipples were hard against the fabric of her bra.  She felt a deep, throbbing tension between her legs, and the memory of Galinda stroking her there last night nearly toppled her.  But she stayed steady, one hand moving to rest self-consciously against her bare stomach, thumb gently rubbing against the bottom edge of her bra.

As she approached, Galinda sat up on the edge of the bed, spreading her legs to reveal herself fully to Elphaba.  Elphaba’s mouth opened and closed.  Something between a groan and a squeak escaped her throat.  Galinda held her hand out, and Elphaba found herself reaching.  Swallowing hard, breathing shallowly, trembling all over…but reaching.  Perfectly manicured fingers closed around her wrist and pulled her to stand between her legs.  Elphaba’s face was on fire, and she looked down to see Galinda’s dark brown eyes growing darker as her pupils blew wide.

“Look at you,” Galinda whispered, gaze moving from Elphaba’s eyes to the small swell of her breasts and down her stomach.  Galinda bit her lip and let go of Elphaba’s wrist only to loop her thumbs in the sides of Elphaba’s skirt.  “This has to go.”  She glanced up, eyes seeking permission, hands steadying until Elphaba gave her a nod.  Galinda smiled sweetly and leaned in to press an open-mouthed kiss to her stomach.  Elphaba gasped, stomach muscles jumping, but Galinda reached behind her to rest a hand against her back and keep her standing and steady.

Elphaba’s eyelids fluttered shut, and her head tipped back. She gripped onto Galinda’s shoulders when her knees started to shake.  The feeling of Galinda’s warm, wet tongue swirling around her belly button was the most erotic thing she’d ever felt, and her body was responding in ways that Elphaba didn’t even know were possible.  She felt the tension between her legs, felt herself getting wetter by the second.  Her back arched when Galinda nipped at the taut flesh of her stomach with her teeth.

Galinda’s fingers tugged at the skirt until it fell loose down Elphaba’s hips.  Elphaba kicked it away, and Galinda chuckled as she teased her thumbs along the top edge of Elphaba’s underwear.

“Oz, Elphaba.  Your body’s incredible.”  Her hands roamed up the curves of Elphaba’s waist and hips and then down over her thighs until Elphaba was moaning softly and digging her nails into her shoulders.  “You like it when I touch you, don’t you?”  Elphaba looked down then, meeting Galinda’s dark gaze.  The blonde’s hands slid back up and gripped Elphaba’s hips before she gently pushed her back and stood up to face her.  Elphaba’s face flushed again, and she found her gaze drawn to Galinda’s perfectly pebbled nipples just before the blonde stepped forward, pressing into her and pressing a soft kiss to her lips.  Elphaba sighed against her mouth, opening up to her as soon as her tongue slipped against her lips.  But the kiss was over far too soon, and Galinda’s mouth and tongue dipped down along her jaw and then her neck and the hollow of her throat.  Her fingers caressed the back of Elphaba’s neck, nails gently scraping over the flesh until she felt Elphaba shiver.  And then she licked and sucked gently at the soft flesh between Elphaba’s shoulder and neck before sinking her teeth into it just firmly enough to get her roommate’s attention.

Fuck,” Elphaba hissed under her breath, dragging a giggle out of Galinda.

“Oh, Elphie.  The mouth on you.”  Galinda arched an eyebrow before reaching behind the older woman and unclasping her bra one-handed.  Elphaba felt the tension in the garment disappear just before it slid down her arms and fell onto the floor between them.  Galinda gasped softly, dragging her gaze down to the dark green nipples that strained against the cool air, and she licked her lips in anticipation.  She brought her hands to rest and grip at Elphaba’s hips, guiding her where she wanted her.  When Elphaba sank down onto the bed, Galinda stood before her, confident and gorgeous in her nakedness.  She flipped her golden locks over her shoulder and placed her hand in the center of Elphaba’s chest, gently pushing her to lay back.

Elphaba did just that, keeping her eyes locked on Galinda’s as she made her move onto the bed to straddle Elphaba’s hips.  The scent of arousal and Galinda’s fucking vanilla soap was heavy in the air, and Elphaba’s head was start to feel swimmy.

“We don’t have to do this, Elphaba,” Galinda said quietly, her lips pouty and fiercely glossed.  “Say the word, and we’ll stop.”  Her hands trailed up Elphaba’s sides, gently guiding Elphaba’s arms up over her head.  And then she was leaning over her, face to face, nose to nose, breath to breath.  She smiled softly and bit her bottom lip.  “Ok?”  Elphaba nodded quickly.  “I need words, Elphaba.”

“Ok.  Yes.”  Elphaba’s words were quick and breathy, and her fingertips were already gripping the sheets.

“Yes, stop?”

“No!  Don’t stop.”  Elphaba’s hands came up to Galinda’s waist, and the blonde smirked.

“You’ll be tasting those very words on your tongue when I’m tasting you,” Galinda whispered, bumping her nose against Elphaba’s.  She dragged her mouth against Elphaba’s, lips parted and wet, and Elphaba kissed her back hungrily.  Galinda sank into the kiss, sank into her until their bodies were pressed together, hip to hip, chest to chest.

Galinda’s lips were on her neck next, biting and sucking until tiny dark green marks started to appear on her skin.  She smiled into her skin, nudging her marks with her nose before slipping down and taking one dark green nipple between her teeth.  Elphaba gasped and arched back, pressing herself further into Galinda’s mouth.  Galinda gave the little peak a gentle bite before she sucked and teased it mercilessly with her lips and tongue.

“Galinda,” Elphaba groaned. “Please…”

“Please what?” Galinda asked innocently, sucking Elphaba’s other nipple into her mouth.  Elphaba’s fingers curled tightly into Galinda’s hair, holding her in place.  The pulse between her legs grew stronger, and she clenched her thighs together, shifting on the bed.  Galinda moaned softly, the motion causing friction between her own legs, and she pulled back, a little string of saliva connecting from Elphaba’s nipple to her lip.  Elphaba watched it disappear before dragging her gaze back up to Galinda’s.  “Please what, Elphie?”

Elphaba bit her bottom lip and let go of Galinda’s hair, sliding her hands down the blonde’s back.  Galinda hummed softly and pressed a kiss between Elphaba’s breasts.

“Do you like this?”  Her tongue slipped along the underside of one breast before she teased a nipple again.

“Mmmhmm,” Elphaba moaned, digging her nails into Galinda’s hips.

“I like it when you touch me like that,” she whispered, tugging on the nipple with her teeth just enough to get Elphaba’s hips jerking against hers.  “Your hands feel so good.”  She moved lower now, kissing Elphaba’s stomach again, nipping at the dip in her hips, first one side and then the other.  Elphaba’s stomach muscles clenched, and her breath stuttered.  Galinda hooked her fingers into the sides of Elphaba’s black panties, and a little lopsided smirk rested on her lips when she dragged her gaze back up to Elphaba’s face.  “Did you wear these just for me?  Did you think about what it’d feel like for me to peel these off of you?”

“Oz, Galinda.  Please…”

“Please what?” Galinda asked, gently snapping the side of Elphaba’s underwear against her green skin.  Elphaba sucked in a sharp breath between her teeth, and Galinda’s fingers slipped into the front of the little black garment.  “So wet for me, Elphie.  Gods, have you been thinking about this all day?”

Elphaba’s mind was reeling.  Why did Galinda have to talk so much?  And why was it turning her on?  Galinda’s yapping generally annoyed her to no end.  But now?

Why did she want her to keep talking?  Why was it that every filthy word that fell off of her kiss-swollen lips pushed her closer to the edge?

Galinda’s fingers began to tug, and Elphaba lifted up to help her slide her panties down her legs.  The blonde gasped softly, pressing a kiss to the spot where hip met thigh, and Elphaba’s hips jerked off the bed.  Galinda bit her bottom lip and shifted on the bed, moving to slip Elphaba’s socks off and toss them aside so she was fully naked before her.  And what a sight she was to behold.

Elphaba squeezed her thighs together again, but Galinda’s hands slid between them, prying her legs apart.

“You’re gonna have to open up for me if you want me to keep going,” Galinda offered with a soft smile and a wink.  “Are you ok?”

The softness in her voice despite the hoarse undertone of desperation didn’t go unnoticed to Elphaba. She nodded.  Galinda raised her eyebrows.

“Yes.  I’m ok,” Elphaba panted.  “Please.”

“Tell me what you need,” Galinda murmured, slipping a hand up Elphaba’s thigh and trailing her fingers lightly over drenched folds.  “Do you need this?”  She pressed one finger gently against Elphaba’s center, pushing into her ever so gently.  The gasp that fell out of Elphaba’s mouth was loud and tinged with desire.  She eased her finger out slowly and then back in, grazing her thumb over Elphaba’s clit until she was clenching around Galinda’s finger.  “Yeah, you like that.  But that’s not what you need, is it?”  Elphaba’s hips moved, chasing each stroke of Galinda’s fingers until she pulled out and added a second finger.

“Oh fuck,” Elphaba cried, gripping the bedsheets as Galinda worked her over.  “Please…I need…”

“Do you want me to taste you?  Hmm?  Is that what you want or what you need?”  Elphaba gasped, and Galinda curled her fingers just a little when she pushed them inside.  The moan that rolled off of Elphaba’s lips was loud and insistent.  Galinda bit her lip and clenched her thighs together as her own needs began to speak through the rhythm of her body.

“Oz damn it!  Please, Galinda.  I need…”  Another moan fell out of her mouth as Galinda leaned in and tasted her for the first time.   Her thighs immediately started to clench, and Galinda held her open with one hand pressed firmly to one thigh.

“Elphie, you taste so good,” she whispered, hot breath hitting Elphaba’s center and making her see stars behind her eyelids.

And then Galinda was pulling away.  Elphaba’s eyes flew open, and she craned her neck up to gape at her lover.

“Don’t worry.  I’m not going anywhere,” Galinda whispered, pressing a wet kiss to her inner thigh.  The blonde scooted off the bed until she was kneeling on her knees.  She tapped Elphaba’s leg and then her own shoulder.

“What do…oh.”  She swallowed hard, and Galinda quirked one eyebrow.  Elphaba put one leg over Galinda’s shoulder, then the other, and before she had time to process what was happening, Galinda’s mouth was on her, hot and wet and hungry.  “Galinda…oh Oz…don’t…don’t stop.”  Galinda’s tongue teased her clit before dipping inside of her, and Elphaba felt the tension in her body coiling tighter and tighter, burning hotter and lower until she was clenching around Galinda’s tongue and rocking her hips against her face in a desperate chase for more friction.

Her body was on the cusp.  She could feel it, and when Galinda gripped her thighs firmly and dug her nails in just a little, she arched back and let out a scream that made the windows rattle.  Galinda glanced up just long enough to see the objects on her bedside table shaking and hovering just a hair’s width above the table top, further proving that Elphaba Thropp had more power inside of her than she cared to admit.  And she smirked with pride that for the second time, she was able to bring it out of her.

Elphaba’s breath caught in her chest, and her body tensed as the orgasm hit her hard and heavy.  Galinda never let up, sucking and licking and drinking her in, pushing two fingers inside as she clenched around them and arched back until her back ached.  And when her body began to relax, Galinda pulled back, letting her body begin to recover.  But before she left her place between Elphaba’s legs, she gently sank her teeth into Elphaba’s inner thigh and sucked, marking her in a place that was just for her to see and nobody else.

She stood then and moved to flop down on the bed next to Elphaba who was breathing heavily and trailing her hand absently down to her stomach and back up between her breasts.  Her fingertips made patterns in the sweat that beaded on her skin, and Galinda turned to her side, propping her head up and watching as the color in Elphaba’s face returned to its usual shade.

The moments ticked by slowly, and finally, Galinda sat up a little, reaching out toward her for a moment before pulling her hand back, uncertain.

“Are you ok?” she asked quietly, watching as Elphaba’s eyes slowly fluttered open.

“I’m…that was…yes.  I’m…I’m good.” Elphaba’s head slowly turned.  She sat up a little, slowly, leaning back on her arms to prop herself up.  “I’m not sure I can walk.”  Her gaze met Galinda’s, and for a moment, she thought the blonde might lean in and kiss her again.  She watched those brown eyes flick downward just a little before she looked back up and smirked in an exaggeratedly cocky way that Elphaba found almost endearing.

“Then my work is done here.” Galinda sighed dramatically, flopping back down onto the bed.  Elphaba laughed, and she stared up at the ceiling, smile slowly fading as she thought back to her earlier words to Galinda.

“We aren’t friends.”

It felt strange, but it still rang true.  They barely knew each other, and the only time they seemed to get along was when they were doing…this.  Whatever this was.  What was it, anyway?  And was it going to happen again?  Or was this just some do-over so that Galinda could think of herself as a less selfish lover?

Where were they supposed to go from here?  Did they just wake up in the morning and go on with their lives like nothing happened?  Did they continue on with this like it was something they’d been doing all along?

The what ifs and the uncertainties were starting to coil in Elphaba’s chest.  She thought about getting up and going to her own bed.  She thought excusing herself to get some water.  She thought of a hundred different things she could say or do to escape whatever awkward conversation might come next.  But she didn’t want to move.

Galinda wasn’t getting up and fleeing to the bathroom this time.  And she wasn’t scrambling out of bed to leave the dorm to go someplace else to get away.  She supposed this was what the books described as basking in the afterglow.  What that meant for tomorrow, she didn’t know, but her body was still coming down from the most incredible sensations she’d ever experienced, and she was too sleepy to let herself think too far ahead

I should go to bed

I should go to my bed.

I should get up and go. Right now.

Her legs were still shaking, and before she could even think to get up, she felt the cool flutter of a soft sheet fluttering over her sweaty limbs.  Galinda shifted onto her side and snuggled in under the covers.  Elphaba’s gaze met hers, and she swallowed hard.  A heavy, warm feeling burrowed deep in her chest as she watched the blonde’s sleepy eyes blink slowly up at her before she leaned over and turned out the light.

“Good night, Elphie,” she whispered.  Elphaba’s head sank into the pillow beside Galinda’s, and she felt Galinda’s soft, slender arm drape over her waist as she snuggled in a little closer.  Elphaba closed her eyes, took a deep breath and let the softness of Galinda’s bed and the weight of Galinda’s arm across her body comfort her.

“Good night.”

Chapter 7

Galinda Upland had never made a habit of letting a lover sleep in her bed before.  She’d always liked her space to sprawl out in bed, and having a warm body next to her always made her feel like she had to lie still.  She’d always found it hard to sleep next to someone.

When she roused from sleep, she blinked into the morning light and felt a warm hand gently shift against her bare stomach.  She groaned softly and rubbed the sleep from her eyes, and when she finally focused on the situation she’d woken up to, she saw slender green fingers resting low on her belly.  Elphaba was sleeping heavily, legs tangled with Galinda’s, body turned toward Galinda’s, face buried against a pale shoulder.  Galinda couldn’t help the tender smile as she watched Elphaba sleep.

She’d never seen her so still before.  So peaceful.  She was pretty certain she’d never seen her so relaxed, as if all the tension and anxiety she carried around with her had melted away.

She was truly beautiful.  Galinda couldn’t deny that.  Her hand was impossibly soft against Galinda’s stomach, and Galinda found that her body was waking up in more ways than one.  She turned ever so gently onto her side, propping her head in her hand, watching Elphaba’s head gently fall back onto the pillow.  Her hand fell from Galinda’s stomach, now resting comfortably on the mattress dangerously close to Galinda’s thigh.

She thought back to last night, to when she’d decided that she was going to make up for Elphaba’s not so stellar first time and show her what good could be like.  At least, she hoped it’d been good.  Elphaba had certainly seemed to be enjoying herself.

Galinda’s free hand moved to gently push a few stray braids out of Elphaba’s face.  When she moved them back, she noticed the small bruises on Elphaba’s neck.  She blushed at the memory.  She’d enjoyed herself thoroughly, marking Elphaba with little love bites that she realized that in the bright light of day would probably mortify her green roommate.  But the damage was done, and Galinda was instantly wet thinking of the sounds Elphaba had made when she’d marked her, when she’d teased her, when she’d sucked and licked every bit of her and made her fall apart against the bed.

Elphaba’s shoulders rose and fell heavily with a sleepy sigh.  Galinda’s eyes widened just a little, and she watched her roommate stir beside her.  She lay very still, watching every flex of a finger, every flutter of eyelids, every scrunching of a nose as Elphaba began to come into consciousness.  She didn’t dare move.  Her breaths were shallow.  She waited.

Elphaba rolled onto her back and rubbed her hands over her face, moaning softly as her toes pointed toward the wall, flexing with a morning stretch before she relaxed and brought her hands down to rest on her stomach.  Her bare stomach.  She opened her eyes slowly to stare up at the ceiling.  Galinda let a slow breath out through her nose.

No sudden movements.

Her gaze couldn’t help but wander down to where Elphaba’s hands rested against her stomach.  She imagined those slender green fingers touching her the way she’d touched Elphaba last night.  Oh, and she just knew it would be good.  Despite a lack of experience, the way Elphaba gripped onto her and held her told her all she needed to know.  Elphaba could work miracles with those hands, and Galinda was desperate to witness one.

Elphaba’s breath hitched in her chest, and she sat up with a gasp, hands gripping at the rumpled sheets.  She looked around, eyes wide, lips parted as she drew in a sharp breath and let the events of the previous nights settle into the forefront of her memory.

Galinda sat up slowly next to her, hand gently reaching out for her but landing just an inch from her bare thigh.  Elphaba glanced down at her pale hand and then up at her face, blinking once, twice, three times.  She shook her head, and Galinda offered a weak smile.

“Good morning,” she said slowly.  She watched Elphaba looked down at her naked form and suddenly startle.  “Hey, you’re ok.  It’s alright.”

“What—what time is it?” Elphaba asked quickly, glancing toward the clock and squinting, unable to read the hands without her glasses.  She didn’t wait for an answer.  She turned her back to Galinda and swung her legs over the side of the bed.  Galinda flinched and reached out as if to touch her, but she lowered her hand back to the bed.  Elphaba’s words last night were now echoing in her head.

“We aren’t friends.”

And she was right.  They weren’t friends, and maybe they never would be.  But Galinda’s body was already responsive, nipples hardening as she mapped out the plane of Elphaba’s back, memorizing the placement of a single dark freckle in the center of her back to the left of her spine.

“It’s early,” Galinda offered quietly, flushing as the words left her lips in a hoarse whisper.  “We have some time.  We can talk, maybe.”  Her brows raised in anticipation, and she watched Elphaba’s shoulders straighten.  “We don’t have to talk, of course.  We don’t have to do anything you don’t want.  I’m sure you want to clean up.”  Galinda tugged at the sheets a little, pulling them up over her lap.  “Elphie?”  She gently bit her bottom lip and watched as Elphaba’s shoulders relaxed a little.

She watched carefully as Elphaba looked up toward the ceiling for a moment, hand anxiously coming up to her neck.  Galinda watched her other hand grip the edge of the bed.  She watched her turn her head.  When those green eyes met hers, Galinda shivered.  Elphaba’s gaze flickered briefly from her eyes to her lips and then down over her bare breasts.  Her pupils were wide and dark, and Galinda found herself holding her breath.

Please don’t go.

Elphaba licked her lips, and Galinda’s heart fluttered in her chest.  She sat still, waiting for Elphaba to make the move.

Stay or go. Please stay.

Elphaba turned then, pressing the heels of her hands into the mattress before falling over Galinda on the bed.  Galinda gasped softly and let out a little squeal when Elphaba crawled over her, nose brushing nose until Elphaba’s lips claimed hers in a needy kiss.  Galinda’s hands trailed up Elphaba’s back, one hand gently moving over the back of her neck, fingertips lightly grazing the skin there until Elphaba was moaning into her mouth.

“Elphie,” Galinda whispered, one hand moving down over her ass and giving it a little squeeze.  She tugged at Elphaba’s bottom lip with her teeth, grinning coyly when Elphaba pulled back to stare down into her eyes.  The hint of a smile played on green lips, and Galinda felt a warmth wrap around her heart.

Maybe they weren’t friends yet, but whatever this was that they had going on felt pretty Oz damned good.

Galinda gripped Elphaba’s hips, silently urging her to press down against her.  Elphaba’s mouth was on Galinda’s neck now as she eased down flush against the blonde, pelvis to pelvis.

“Oh, Elphie,” Galinda gasped.  “Yes, that feels good.”  Elphaba’s lips brushed against her collarbone, teeth nipping at flushed skin, tongue soothing over the gentle scrapes until Galinda’s fingers were gripping her shoulders.  “Elphie, oh Oz.”  Galinda arched her neck and slid her hand down between them, fingers grazing over damp flesh as she tugged the sheet down her hips.  Elphaba raised up a little, gasping softly when she felt Galinda’s fingers curl around her arm.  “Touch me.  Please?”  Elphaba swallowed hard, and she let Galinda guide her hand up to her breast.  She gave it a gentle, experimental squeeze before grazing the pad of her thumb over one hard nipple.  Galinda’s head fell back against the pillow, and she arched her back to push herself harder against Elphaba’s hand.

Galinda’s hand was curling at the back of Elphaba’s neck now, tugging her back down for another kiss. She groaned when Elphaba rolled her nipple gentle between her thumb and forefinger and let out a shuddering moan.

“Yes, Elphie.  Please.  Harder.”  Elphaba lifted her head then, staring down at the blonde who was writhing underneath her, and she gave her nipple a harder pinch.  Galinda’s mouth fell open in a groan.

Galinda realized, much to her delight, this must have bolstered Elphaba’s confidence, because the next thing she knew, Elphaba’s lips were wrapped around one nipple, tugging and sucking.  And then her teeth scraped over it.

Galinda’s thighs were damp now, and she squeezed them together, craving to be touched, craving everything Elphaba was willing to give.

She drew her leg up, curling it over Elphaba’s thigh.  She closed her eyes and reveled in the feel of Elphaba’s mouth, hot and wet against her breast.  Elphaba’s hands were trembling when she scooted down the bed, kissing between Galinda’s breasts and then down to her stomach.  Galinda lifted her head slowly and stared down at her, watching as Elphaba hesitated.  Galinda reached down, fingers curling against Elphaba’s wrist again.  Elphaba’s head jerked up, green eyes wild and curious as she stared at Galinda.

“I want you to,” Galinda moaned.  “Please…”  Elphaba leaned in, burying her face against Galinda’s stomach in a way that was both sweet and erotic at the same time.  Galinda’s mouth fell open in a soft moan, and she let go of Elphaba so she could push her hands into the mattress and prop herself up.  Elphaba’s hands moved down her waist and over her hips, and Galinda squeezed her eyes shut when those nails dug into her flesh.  She bit her bottom lip, moaning loudly and sliding one hand down between her breasts.  Elphaba lifted her head, watching studiously as Galinda’s hand slipped down her own stomach and down between her legs.  Pale fingers slipped against damp flesh, teasing over her own clit until her hips jerked against her hand.

Galinda forced her eyes open and smirked when she saw Elphaba staring at her hand, watching each flick of her fingers as if she was studying a great painter with their brush.

“Have you ever touched yourself, Elphie?” Galinda asked softly.  Elphaba swallowed hard, dragging her gaze up to meet Galinda’s.  She nodded slowly, and Galinda let out a little huff of something between a moan and a laugh.  And then she quirked an eyebrow.  “Come here.”  She squirmed out from under Elphaba and stood at the side of the bed.  She motioned toward the headboard.  “Scoot.”  Elphaba stared at her for a moment, eyes darkening, but when Galinda patted the mattress, she scrambled up eagerly which made Galinda’s heart flutter in her chest.  “Sit back.”  Elphaba sat up in the bed, back against the headboard, and Galinda slid her hand gently up Elphaba’s ankle to her knee.  She gave her a little tap, and Elphaba’s legs spread for her.  Her own eyes darkened when she spotted the little love bite from last night, and she poked her lower lip out, trailing her fingertip over it, making Elphaba’s head roll back at the sensation.

“You wear it so well, Elphie,” she whispered, crawling onto the bed and positioning herself to sit between her legs.  Elphaba drew her knees up to give her more room, and Galinda leaned her back into Elphaba’s chest, blonde hair tickling against sensitive green nipples which made Elphaba shudder under her.  “Give me your hands.”  Elphaba curled her arms around Galinda’s waist, and the blonde smiled, chuckling softly.  “So eager.”  Elphaba snorted but let Galinda curl her fingers around both wrists.

Galinda guided one of Elphaba’s hands to her breast and let go.  She leaned her head back against her lover’s shoulder and guided the other green hand down her stomach and between her legs.  She moaned softly at the first gentle touch of Elphaba’s fingers against her sensitive flesh.

“Touch me how you touch yourself,” she whispered, angling her head back so she could nip at Elphaba’s jaw.  Elphaba groaned softly, closing her eyes as her fingers began to stroke her.  Galinda’s hips jolted, and Elphaba stilled.  “Don’t stop.  Please, Elphie.”  She smiled when Elphaba turned her face and met her with a needy kiss.  She sighed into it bringing one arm up behind Elphaba’s neck to pull her closer.  Elphaba’s hands began to work together, one at her breast, the other between her legs, fingertips slipping against Galinda’s clit and down lower to push against her opening.

When she pressed there with two fingers, she took great care with her nails, making sure she didn’t hurt her, and Galinda thanked her with an appreciative whimper.  She broke the kiss then, resting her head back against Elphaba’s shoulder, stroking her arm up and down slowly.  She moved her hips, grinding back against Elphaba just enough that she had her muffling groans between gentle bites and kisses to her neck.  Galinda craned her neck, relishing the feel of Elphaba’s mouth on her and her fingers working steadily between her legs.

Elphaba’s thumb swept over her clit, and she whimpered again, moving to grip Elphaba’s thigh, squeezing tightly as she clenched around her fingers.

“Yes, Elphie.  That’s so good,” Galinda moaned.  “Right there.  Keep going…ahhhh—”  She bit back a cry when Elphaba inserted a third finger, gently pushing in until Galinda was tight around her.  “Elphie!”

Elphaba teased and tugged at Galinda’s nipple before teasing the other one in the same mercilessly way.  Galinda shivered when she felt her nose against the back of her neck.  Knowing what Elphaba wanted, she reached up with one shaking hand and pulled her hair over one shoulder, exposing her flushed neck.  Immediately, she felt lips and tongue and teeth working over her skin, and Elphaba’s fingers were curling, just enough to get her attention.  She gasped and clenched her thighs around Elphaba’s wrist, and in moments, her body was shaking.  The coil burning low in her belly snapped, and Galinda let go, coming hard around Elphaba’s hand as she stroked and kissed her through it all.  And Galinda came apart in her arms, crying out, shoulders shaking until the last wave of pleasure faded into the blissful unknown.

And when Elphaba’s hand stilled and came to rest upon Galinda’s stomach, Galinda reached down boldly and brought Elphaba’s hand up.  She teased one fingertip with the blunt tip of her tongue before turning slightly in Elphaba’s arms.

“Taste,” she whispered.  Elphaba’s eyes darkened, and she licked her lips before sucking her own finger into her mouth, tasting Galinda on her tongue.  She closed her eyes and made a show of sucking it clean to the last knuckle.  When she pulled her finger out, Galinda leaned in, claiming Elphaba’s mouth in a languid kiss, unwilling to let this moment go just yet.  She needed more, but she didn’t know how to say it.  She’d never been shy, but somehow, now?  Now she was terrified of losing this feeling—whatever it was—that sank into her bones in the arms of the last person she ever expected to need.

Still, when she pulled back from the kiss, she licked her lips and glanced up at Elphaba’s face, trying to read her, trying to see into her thoughts.

We aren’t friends.  We aren’t friends.  We aren’t friends.

The last thing she wanted was Elphaba to startle away again like she almost had that morning.  The thought of it made her stomach twist into a knot, and she couldn’t bear that.  So, she took the initiative and slipped out from between Elphaba’s legs and climbed out of the bed.

She pulled a robe around herself and tied it snugly.  She noticed Elphaba watching her out of the corner of her eye and she couldn’t help but exaggerate the sway of her hips just a little on her way to the bathroom.

“Galinda?”

“Hmm?”  She turned to glance over her shoulder, eyes curious and wide.  Elphaba shifted nervously on the bed, hugging her legs to her chest.  “Yes, Elphie?”  Elphaba’s mouth opened and closed once.  Twice.  She was struggling to find words but settled on silence.  Galinda sighed softly and offered a soft smile in her direction. “I’m drawing you a bath.  I thought that might feel good this morning.”

“Oh,” Elphaba said slowly.  “Ok.  Thank you.”  Galinda turned and slipped into the bathroom.  She turned on the faucet, tested the temperature of the water and laid out everything she’d need for washing up on the seat of a chair she pulled up next to the tub.  She sat on the edge of the tub, glancing at her own reflection in the rippling water.  Her hair was a mess, and her lips were swollen from kisses, and it was hard to tell in the faint reflection, but she was pretty certain Elphaba had left a mark or two on her as well.  She didn’t mind at all.  In fact, she smiled as she trailed her fingers the water, watching it swirl and ripple as it filled the tub.

“Thank you.”  Galinda startled and turned to see Elphaba leaning against the doorway, naked and gorgeous.  Galinda was certain she wasn’t even trying to be sexy, but the way her hand rested on her jutted hip and her head cocked to the side painted a picture that Galinda was certain would be emblazoned in her mind for the remainder of the day.

“O—of course,” she stuttered, caught off guard.  She turned off the water and stood, smoothing her hands over the front of her robe.  “I’ll give you your privacy.”  She felt silly the second the words left her lips, but Elphaba didn’t seem to notice.  She moved across the room and eased down into the water so elegantly that Galinda couldn’t help but watch.  She found herself staring as Elphaba relaxed with her head leaned back and her arms stretched over the sides.  The water covered her up to her chest, and Galinda found herself suddenly wanting to join her.

But that would simply be too much, wouldn’t it?  She sighed softly and left the room, leaving Elphaba to her privacy while she gathered her own things and retreated to the floor’s shared bathroom at the end of the hall of suites.  She hugged her fresh clothes to her chest and couldn’t help but feel a fresh ache settling there as her mind began to spin.

What now?  What next?  What does this mean?

And as she slipped under the warm stream of water in the old shower stall, she scrubbed her hands over her face and tried to force herself to think of other things.  Anything but her insufferably beautiful roommate down the hall that had just given her the best orgasm she’d ever had.  Anything but that.

Chapter 8

Elphaba wasn’t sure how long she’d soaked in the bath, but by the time she was out and dressed, Galinda was gone.  She wasn’t sure if she felt relieved or disappointed, but what she did know was that she was hungry.

She passed by a mirror on her way to gather her books, and she noticed the tiny bruises alongside her neck.  She stopped in her tracks and leaned forward, hand flying to her neck, fingertips gently tracing over the small but obvious marks.  Her jaw fell open in a gasp.

She gave me hickeys?!

She tugged at the collar of her button down shirt, praying to whatever divine power might be paying attention to her post-sex moment of mortification that nobody would notice that Galinda had marked her so…deliberately.  The mark on her thigh was no problem.  She’d spent a good ten minutes in the bath admiring it and thinking of the way Galinda’s mouth and tongue and teeth had felt on her skin.  It was something private for her.  For them.  But these were very public.

Not that she hadn’t gifted Galinda with her own little marks, but she also knew Galinda Upland of the Upper Uplands could hide anything with a bit of makeup and a fashionable scarf.

Elphaba groaned softly and considered stealing one of those scarves, but the only thing that would stand out more than a couple of small love bites on her neck was her wearing a wildly out of character pink scarf.  No, that wouldn’t do.

So, she decided the collar of her shirt would have to do the job well enough.

She was used to people either staring at her or avoiding looking at her completely, and today, she was hoping for the latter.

Unfortunately, luck was not on her side that morning.  The moment she stepped into the dining hall, she was subjected to the usual stares and whispers.  She bit back a smirk and wondered if these people even knew how obvious they were being, staring at her, covering their mouth and whispering as if they were all five years old and nobody knew how to be discreet.

With a heavy sigh, she grabbed what she wanted for breakfast and settled down at a table in the far corner of the hall.  She opened up a book and ate slowly as she tried to focus on the words on the pages of her book.  She found herself reading the same line three different times without absorbing and Oz-damned thing before she gave up, closed her book and let her gaze wander about the room to the other students who’d already forgotten her presence and were wrapped up in talking and laughing amongst themselves so easily.

When the door to the dining hall opened again and her blonde roommate strolled in looking perfectly put together, she sat up in her seat.  She watched as several students clamored to make room for her, to offer up their chairs, to get even a passing smile from the beauty as she walked over to grab a tray for her breakfast.

It was fascinating, really, the way people reacted so differently to Galinda.  It was as if the powers Galinda possessed were all in how people paid attention and fell over themselves to try to please her.  She had a captive audience wherever she went, and honestly, Elphaba understood it.  She was…warm.  Insufferable and infuriating at times, but warm nevertheless.  And Elphaba had experienced just a portion of that in the way Galinda had prepared a bath for her and had shown such care for her that morning.

It was confusifying and made Elphaba’s heartbeat stutter in her chest.  Still, she watched Galinda move about the room, her hair tossed over her shoulders in a way that hid the little marks Elphaba had left on her.  When her back was to the room, the smile on her face faltered just a little.  Her gaze lifted, and she looked about the room.  She was searching.  And Elphaba held her breath, waiting for those brown eyes to lock on hers.  But Galinda was quickly distracted by Boq Woodsman who came up to her and said something to her that Elphaba couldn’t hear over the din of the other students’ chattering.

She watched Boq reach for Galinda’s tray, only for Galinda to smile—dimple dimpling—and shake her head politely.  She said something to him, and he turned to leave with equal parts defeat and hope for tomorrow etched in his features.  Elphaba cringed from the secondhand embarrassment, but her gaze focused in on Galinda who turned back to grab a muffin off of the buffet.  Galinda’s gaze lifted again.  She looked around, and Elphaba wondered if she could sense her looking at her.

The blonde lifted her hand to her chest, glossy lips parting in a soft gasp.  Her eyelids fluttered for a moment, and she discreetly fanned her face.

Elphaba’s jaw tensed.  What was her pretty roommate thinking about?  A little half-smile lifted on Elphaba’s lips, and she felt her own face flushing with heat the longer she looked at her.

It was truly astoundifying.  The fact that neither of them could usually stand to be around the other for more than a few minutes wasn’t lost on Elphaba.  But now, it seemed, even when they were apart, they were thinking of one another.  Only now, the frustration and irritation that Elphaba had once felt for Galinda Upland had been replaced by a frustration of an entirely different nature.  Now she could still practically taste Galinda’s skin and lips on her tongue. She could still feel Galinda’s hands on her, her fingers in her, her mouth between her legs.  She shivered at the memory of sucking her own finger into her mouth and tasting what she’d done, how she’d made Galinda fall apart the way she had.

And now there was a rush of heat beneath her skin, the hurried pulse shooting sparks through her nerve endings, straight to her core.  Her nipples strained against her bra at the mere memory of Galinda’s mouth on them, sucking and teasing them mercilessly.

As Galinda turned around once again, scanning the room for something—no, someone—she was flagged over by Shenshen and Pfannee.  She flipped her hair over her shoulders and crossed the room to join them.  Elphaba watched her sit and poke at her food and look around from time while Shenshen and Pfannee talked animatedly about something they clearly found to be amusing.  But Elphaba could see that Galinda was barely even present in the conversation.  She was lost in thought.  One hand rested in her lap, fingers skimming over the outside of her bare thigh while her other hand held the muffin she barely nibbled at.  She was distracted, and Elphaba couldn’t help but let her gaze wander up from her high heeled shoe, over her bare, pale calf and up her gorgeous thigh that Elphaba couldn’t help but think about tasting if Galinda would let her.  Marking her the way Galinda had marked her.  Tasting her the way Galinda had tasted her.

Her clit throbbed, and she jolted in her seat, tray clattering at the sudden movement.  A few people turned to look curiously in her direction.  There were the stares and whispers again.  And her face was hot.  She dragged her gaze back to Galinda just in time to see her look over her shoulder.  Brown eyes met green, and Galinda’s eyes went wide.

Elphaba slipped out of her seat, grabbed her books and tucked them under one arm.  She took her tray over and dumped the contents in the trash before walking out of the dining hall, feeling the eyes of one Galinda Upland following her as she walked.  As she stepped outside to breathe in the fresh air and calm her racing heart, she made the mistake of turning as the door shut behind her just in time to meet Galinda’s gaze.  The heat behind those eyes made Elphaba’s knees shake, and she took off toward her first class, hoping to Oz that she could get through this day without spontaneously combusting.

*~*~*~*~*

Elphaba had an hour to calm down before seeing Galinda again, and by the time she got to Dr. Dillamond’s class, she was completely unsurprised to see Galinda sitting across the room with Pfannee on one side of her and Shenshen directly behind her.  Curiously, there was a spot next to Galinda that was empty, save for Galinda’s stack of books occupying the space.  Elphaba’s gaze locked on Galinda’s the moment she stepped into the room.  Galinda sat up straight in her seat, mouth parting slightly as if she wanted to extend an invitation but wasn’t certain she should.  Elphaba simply chose her usual seat across the room.

It wasn’t long before Pfannee and Shenshen turned their amusement toward Elphaba, remarking on how she might want to start wearing colors that would distract from the brightness of her skin.  When the first round of giggles started, Galinda had leveled a stare at Pfannee that had him shutting up and then nudging Shenshen’s leg with his shoulder.  Elphaba cocked her  head to the side, curiously entertained by this sudden turn of events.  But before Galinda had a chance to explain herself, Dr. Dillamond arrived and class began.

Elphaba took a few deep breaths and focused all of her attention to listening to Dr. Dillamond. She fought each distracting sigh from Galinda across the room valiantly, propping her chin in her hand and narrowing her eyes, leaning forward even to hear the professor more clearly.  However, her gaze would occasionally wander to the blonde.  At first, Galinda was just staring, her eyes narrowed slightly in quiet study.  Then Galinda’s legs parted just enough that Elphaba’s imagine began to run wild.  Next, Galinda was crossing her legs and tapping her pen to her glossy lips.  Then she was gently biting the tip between her front and bottom teeth.  And then her tongue flicked out to not only wet her lips but flick over the top of the pen in a way that sent a jolt straight to her clit.

Elphaba sat up straight in her seat and crossed her legs.  Tightly.

The smirk on Galinda’s lips was not lost on Elphaba, and she smirked back at her before turning her attention back to her book.

Fifty minutes of class felt like three hours of pure, unadulterated agony.  And Elphaba was thankful when Pfannee stopped Galinda, probably to ask her why she hadn’t joined in their favorite game of Taunt the Green Girl, and she made her escape to her next class.

She decided to switch things up at her usual lunch time.  She swung by the dining hall between classes and ate something light, so when the time came that she normally settled down for lunch, she chose to go to her favorite quiet place in the library instead.

Part of her was looking forward to the quiet.  Another part of her was silently hoping Galinda would come looking for her, because after all, it wouldn’t be like Elphaba to not show up to the dining hall for lunch.  They never ate together, but Galinda always noticed her presence, however irritating that might have been for her.

And much to Elphaba’s delight, she heard the click of the blonde’s heels on the floor before she saw her.  She looked around, finding herself alone save for the disembodied click click click heading in her direction.  She ducked between the stacks in the rare book section again, a fond memory playing on repeat in her head of the kiss they’d shared there just yesterday.

She braced herself, her body positively thrumming with excitement as she waited for Galinda to appear.  But the clicking stopped.  Elphaba’s heart stuttered in her chest, and she felt like the wind got knocked out of her chest.

She paused between the stacks, pressing her hand against one shelf as the familiar scent of vanilla wafted from two aisles down.  She took a few steadying breaths, closed her eyes and desperately tried to force out the image of Galinda looking up at her with those big brown eyes as she feasted between her thighs like a woman starved.  Her thighs twitched at the memory of Galinda’s hands gripping them as she thrust her tongue inside, and Elphaba’s hand flew to her stomach as her body jolted with desire.

There was no escaping those memories.  They were burned in her memory, threaded into her nerves, etched in her bones.  She was embarrassingly wet just thinking about what Galinda had done to her—Oz—what she could do to her without even touching her.

She startled when a flash of blonde hair whipped past her aisle and disappeared into the stacks behind her.  She swallowed hard.  Did Galinda know she was there?  Of course she did.  Why else would she be at the library at this time of day when she could be sitting at the dining hall with her friends.  But, judging from her behavior in Dr. Dillamond’s class, Elphaba had the sneaking suspicion that food was the last thing the blonde was hungry for.

She stayed put.  Waited.  Listened.  She heard that delicious frustrated sigh from behind her in the stacks, and she couldn’t help the smirk that tugged at her lips.  It was good to know that she wasn’t the only one that couldn’t stop thinking about this.  And she had to admit that this was a lot more fun than constantly bickering.  Not that that couldn’t be fun, too.  She’d enjoyed the back and forth and riling Galinda up.  Maybe it wasn’t healthy, but it had led to indescribable pleasure, and Elphaba had never felt so desired before.

Elphaba took a deep breath and decided that she’d had enough of whatever little fishing game Galinda was playing in the stacks.  She took the bait.  She couldn’t help herself.

She turned into the next row of stacks, and there she was.  Galinda Upland, standing on her tip toes, heels rising out of the backs of her high-heeled shoes, stretching up to reach a book on the top shelf.  Her skirt was impossibly high, so high in fact that a light draft would have shown off exactly what she was wearing underneath.

Elphaba stepped up behind her, reaching up to grab the same book, fingers brushing over the back of Galinda’s hand.  She didn’t startle, because of course she knew Elphaba would give in to this game she was playing.

Elphaba easily reached the book, pulling it out so Galinda could grab it with ease.

“You realize we’re the same height,” Elphaba smirked, watching Galinda still for a moment.  Her warm breath puffed against Galinda’s hair, and the blonde trembled.

“Well, your heels are taller than mine,” Galinda pointed out, voice steady but pinched in an attempt to sound nonchalant.  She turned, gaze flickering on Elphaba’s face for only an instant before looking down between them.  “Your fashion sense may be lacking, but you have great taste in footwear.”  Her brown eyes flicked back up to Elphaba’s gaze, and her tongue darted out to wet her glossy pink lips.  Elphaba’s eyes flicked down to the book in Galinda’s hand.  She bit the inside of her cheek to keep from laughing.  Galinda could see her roommates’s face twitch as she fought back a laugh.  “What’s so funny, Elphaba Thropp?”

An In Depth Study of the Effects of Transfiguration and Performative Magic on the Menopausal Libido.  Aren’t you getting a little ahead of yourself?”  Galinda’s eyes went wide, and she glanced down at the book in her hand.  Her mouth fell open, but she snapped it shut immediately.  She looked up, put her shoulders back and tried to look confident despite the bright red flush of embarrassment coloring her cheeks.

“I’m checking it out for a friend.”

“Oh,” Elphaba said slowly, nodding as she watched Galinda try not to squirm.  “Which friend?”

“That’s none of your business.  Besides, there’s nothing wrong with educating myself on the future.  I do intend to be a sorceress one day.”

“Galinda, I’ve never seen you so much as boil water, let alone perform magic.”  Her voice was flat but amusement wavered along the edges.  Galinda glared at her.

“How dare you?!  You think you’re better than me because you have power you can’t control?”

“I didn’t say that,” Elphaba pointed out. “But I don’t think that just anyone can be a sorceress.  Either you have power or you don’t.  And it’s ok if you don’t.”

“It is not!”

“Why not?”

“Because I want it!” Galinda huffed.  Elphaba sighed, and Galinda scoffed, shoving the book at her.  Elphaba smirked and reached up to place the book back where it belonged.

“I hate to tell you this, but you can’t always get what you want.”  Galinda glared at her again, smoothing her hands down the front of her dress.  She took a step toward Elphaba, a fire behind her eyes that tickled every nerve ending Elphaba possessed.

“Unacceptable,” Galinda bit out.  She put her hands on her hips sternly, and Elphaba felt her clit jump.

Fuck.

“Have you always been this spoiled?” Elphaba asked, cocking her head to the side.

“Yes,” Galinda huffed.  Elphaba chuckled, and the blonde made a face.  “I was taught that when you want something badly enough, you stop at nothing to get it.”

She took a step toward the blonde, watching as Galinda’s lips parted and the pinched, annoyed look on her face softened into something altogether different.

“Well then,” Elphaba murmured, hand reaching out to brush a strand of blonde hair over Galinda’s shoulder, “I hope you get everything you want.” Elphaba’s eyes darkened when she saw Galinda’s gaze flick down toward her lips.  Those big brown eyes widened when Elphaba’s tongue darted out to wet her lips slowly.

Elphaba wasn’t sure what had come over her, but her body seemed to have a mind of its own when it came to Galinda Upland.  And she certainly wasn’t complaining.

It came as a surprise to neither one of them when in the next moment, Galinda’s hands were on Elphaba’s waist, pushing her back against the bookshelves and kissing her as if her very life depended on it.

Elphaba’s hands were immediately on her face, brushing down her neck and over her shoulders, arms curling around her middle and pulling her in closer.  The softness of Galinda’s lips matched with the urgency of her tongue slipping between Elphaba’s lips had Elphaba’s head swimming in the most delicious way.

“Elphie,” she murmured between kisses.  A faint noise escaped Elphaba’s throat, something between a question and a moan.  “Let’s go home.”  The hum of Elphaba’s muffled laugh teased Galinda’s lips.

“We have class,” Elphaba pointed out before sliding her tongue against Galinda’s.

“Skip it,” Galinda murmured, bringing her hand up to palm Elphaba’s breast, squeezing it just firmly enough to make her shudder.

“Mmm,” Elphaba chuckled.  “I’ve never skipped a class in my life.”

“Color me surprised,” Galinda sighed.  “Elphie, please.”  She reached for Elphaba’s hand, bringing it around to her ass.  Elphaba gave her a little squeeze, and Galinda’s teeth scraped against her bottom lip, giving it a little nip and a tug.  “Just this once?  I’m so wet, Elphie.”  Elphaba’s knees almost buckled, and she stumbled back against the bookshelf, breathing heavily as Galinda advanced on her again, hands trailing down her waist and dragging her skirt up so pale fingers could tease over green thighs.

“Fuck,” Elphaba panted, pressing forward and claiming Galinda’s mouth in a wet kiss.  “Not here.  Not here.”

“Come home,” Galinda begged, sucking Elphaba’s bottom lip between her teeth again.  “Don’t keep me waiting.”  She pulled back then, smoothing her hands over her rumpled dress.  Elphaba leaned back against the bookshelves, panting and wanting.  Galinda’s gaze stilled on hers for a lingering moment, and Elphaba held her breath until the blonde turned on her heels and walked away.

Elphaba was left alone with nothing but the rush of hot blood through her veins, a thundering heartbeat and a throbbing core that made thinking impossible.  All she could hear was Galinda’s voice, strained with desire, begging for what they both so desperately needed.

Come home.  Don’t keep me waiting.

Chapter 9

She’d never craved anyone this way before.  She hadn’t wanted to.   Hadn’t intended to.  But Elphaba Thropp was under her skin and wrapped around her bones now.  Her body positively thrummed in anticipation when she pushed her way into their shared suite and wondered how far behind Elphaba might be.  Would she keep her waiting?  Would she be a dutiful student and go to class despite her roommate’s wants?  Or was she close behind and about to walk through that door any second?

Strangely, both scenarios were equally arousing.

Galinda was overheated, and she was soaked to her thighs.  She wasn’t proud of that, but she’d been thinking of Elphaba all day.  And when she hadn’t shown up in the dining hall at lunch, she’d felt positively feral wondering what Elphaba was up to.  Was she disrupting her usual routine to drive her crazy?  Was she distancing herself because she didn’t want this?

Galinda had sought out her answer and gotten the message loud and clear at the library.  Elphaba Thropp wanted her.  She could feel it in the way Elphaba’s gaze darkened in arousal.  She could feel it in the way Elphaba’s hands touched and held her.  She could feel it in the way Elphaba’s mouth had met hers, hungry and aching for more.

Not here.  Not here.

She could still hear the hoarseness of her voice.  The raspy breath that accompanied a pained denial of acting on their urges right there in the middle of the library.

Galinda deposited her bundle of books onto the seat of a chair before kicking off her heels and stepping in front of her mirror.  She looked at herself, stared right into her dark brown eyes and pursed her lips in a way that made her dimple sink in.  She turned her head from side to side, whipping her blonde locks over her shoulders.

She ran her hand down the length of her neck, feeling her own pulse racing beneath her fingertips.  Her flesh was heated, damp, begging to be touched.  But her own hand wasn’t what she needed.

She untucked her blouse from her skirt and quickly unbuttoned, revealing the pink lace bra underneath.  It was new and not very practical, as it was only held together with a bit of pink ribbon in the front.  She’d put it on in hopes that a certain green roommate might tear it off of her later.  Or better yet, she’d be so ready to ravish her that she wouldn’t bother to fully undress her.

Galinda moaned softly and squeezed her thighs together at the mere idea of Elphaba feeling even half the arousal she was feeling at this moment.  She could just picture her coming through that door, eyes dark, chest heaving, fingers flexing.  She could see her tearing across the room and flinging her onto the bed and falling over her in a flurry of hot, wet kisses that would trail all the way down between her legs.

Fuck.

If Elphaba Thropp ate pussy as well as she kissed, Galinda wasn’t sure she’d be able to survive it.

As she stripped off her blouse, she couldn’t help but wonder if Elphaba was walking around campus just as wet as she was.  She shivered, running her fingertips down between her breasts and over her stomach.  She bit her lip and unbuttoned her skirt, letting it flutter to the ground around her bare feet.

The matching pink panties that went with her bra were positively ruined, and she slipped her fingers down the front of them, barely grazing over drenched flesh.  The moan that tore from her throat was absolutely filthy.

Elphie, please hurry.

Her heart was racing.  Her body was starved for touch.  When she slipped her hand out of her panties, she almost sobbed.  She’d never felt this needy before.  She’d never felt her body respond this way just thinking about previous partners.  She’d never felt the carnal desire to devour and be devoured while knowing with absolute certainty that she’d never quite slake her thirst for more.

Galinda Upland of the Upper Uplands had never gone out of her way to get someone’s attention before.  She’d never been made to work for it.  Elphaba Thropp was a menace.  And Galinda fucking loved that.

Elphaba had had the audacity to not show up to the dining hall for lunch, forcing Galinda to traipse across campus to find her at the book place.  She’d tried to at least pretend she was there for a reason, but her pretense had crumbled in the heat of the moment when Elphaba had licked her lips and lit Galinda’s nerves on fire.  She could still taste her lips.  She could still feel her hands on her.  And her body was still aching for touch that only Elphaba seemed to be able to satisfy, even if the hunger would be quickly and easily rekindled by a mere look from her green roommate.

Get it together, Galinda.  Desperate is a terrible look on you.

She looked herself over in the mirror.  Her face was flushed.  Her hair was tousled.  Her skin was covered in a sheen of sweat, and her lips were just the slightest bit chapped and swollen from kisses.

Fuck that.  Elphie’s gonna lose her mind.

She smirked and winked at her own reflection before turning and flouncing across the room.

Galinda thought about slipping out of her panties.  They were soaked and uncomfortable.  But she also thought about how good it would feel for Elphaba to peel them off of her.  Slowly.

And where was her roommate, anyway?  Why wasn’t she coming through that door?  Why wasn’t she already pushing her onto the bed and burying her face between Galinda’s trembling thighs?  This just would not do.

She moved over toward her bed on wobbly legs, opening up her bedside table searching for something.  The something that had been helping take the edge off as of late, at least until she’d found much more fulfilling ways to scratch the itch.

She found the silk sachet in the back of the drawer and reached for it, fingers curling around the object inside.  She shivered and her clit throbbed, but she quickly dropped it and shoved the drawer shut.

She was going to wait.  She was going to relish every moment when Elphaba came home.  If she ever came home.  She was certain it’d be worth the wait.

Galinda gasped suddenly when she heard the doorknob turn.  She whipped around to see the heavy wooden door opening up.  And there she was.  Elphaba stepped in, eyes wide and dark behind her glasses.  She was breathing heavily as if she’d run home, and Galinda found it thrillifying to think of Elphaba rushing home just to please her.

Elphaba leaned back against the door to shut it, never taking her eyes off of Galinda.  Galinda shivered under her stare, and she dragged her gaze down to see Elphaba reach behind her to lock the door.

Galinda Upland of the Upper Uplands swallowed.  Hard.

“Elphaba Thropp, you kept me waiting,” she choked out, voice hoarse with desperation.  Elphaba narrowed her eyes for a moment before removing her glasses and folding them up.  She moved cooly toward her side of the room, depositing the spectacles on her bedside table.  She turned her back to Galinda for a moment.

“I got to class and it was cancelled,” Elphaba shrugged, and Galinda could practically hear the smirk in her voice.

“You went to class?”  Galinda stared at Elphaba’s back, blinking rapidly.

The audacity.

“I waited for you,” Galinda bit out, voice tinged with annoyance, desperation, hunger, need.  “I don’t wait for anybody.”

“And yet…you—”  Elphaba turned around, the cockiness in her smirk fading as Galinda launched herself across the room, wrapping her arms around her neck.  Elphaba stumbled back, grasping at Galinda’s waist as they fell back against the wall.  Galinda’s mouth was on hers before she could take a breath.  Elphaba moaned deeply, digging her nails into the blonde’s slender waist.  “Fuck, Galin—”

“Look at you, Elphie,” Galinda choked out between hungry kisses, hands working with buttons on Elphaba’s white shirt.  “A couple of orgasms, and you think you’re Lurline’s gift or something.  Making me wait.  Shame on you, Elphie.”

“Says you,” Elphaba bit out, pushing off the wall and walking Galinda backward toward the cot.  “You’ve been teasing me all day.”  She broke this kiss then, pushing back gently on Galinda’s waist.  Galinda fell back on her butt against the mattress on Elphaba’s cot.  She bounced and blinked up at her green roommate in surprise.  “You knew what you were doing.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Galinda huffed, reaching to finish the last two buttons on Elphaba’s shirt.  It fell open, and she immediately leaned forward, pressing hot, wet kisses just above Elphaba’s belly button, giving the sensitive flesh a gentle nibble.  Elphaba’s head rolled back, and she threaded her fingers through blonde hair, leaning her shins heavily against the cot frame to keep from toppling over.

“Please,” Elphaba moaned out.  “You knew.  Dr. Dillamond’s class…you—ohhhh…”  Galinda’s tongue darted out, swirling around her belly button as she tugged roughly at Elphaba’s skirt.  “Oz, Galinda…”

“Mmmm,” Galinda smirked, hands moving to squeeze Elphaba’s waist as she kissed over hip bones and scraped her teeth against soft curves.  “You taste so good.”

Elphaba’s skirt and boots were soon just a pile on the floor, and Galinda’s eyes flicked upward with heavy desire before she pressed her nose right against the front of Elphaba’s underwear.  She took a deep breath in, and Elphaba’s legs gave out.  Galinda squealed when Elphaba fell over her.  Elphaba shifted above her, coming to rest her forehead against Galinda’s as she straddled her hips.  Galinda’s glossy pink nails scratched down the soft, exquisite span of Elphaba’s back, and Elphaba claimed her lips in another kiss.

“So good, Elphie,” Galinda panted, hands moving down to cup and squeeze her ass.  Elphaba groaned deeply, burying the cry in Galinda’s mouth.  Elphaba’s hand was between them in a moment, cupping over the damp fabric of Galinda’s panties.  She pulled back then, lips parting in a gasp as she felt Galinda’s wet heat seeping through.  Galinda bit her lip and flushed deeply.  She looked so shy for just a moment.  “I told you how wet I was, and you still kept me waiting.”

“Galinda,” Elphaba groaned.  “Do you always—”

“Just for you,” Galinda admitted, eyelashes fluttering as her eyes rolled back.  It was an intimate admission, but it was the Oz damned truth.  Nobody could get her worked up like this.  And when she focused on Elphaba’s gaze again, she saw the look of awe in her eyes.  Her features had softened, and Galinda felt something inside of her swell with warmth and emotion.

Oz damn it.  Don’t think.  Don’t think.  Just feel.

She wrapped her fingers around Elphaba’s wrist and guided her hand inside the front of those pretty pink panties.  Elphaba’s fingers twitched against slick folds, and she moaned, pressing kisses to the hollow of Galinda’s throat and then up her neck and behind her ear.  Galinda was whimpering now, wrapping one leg around her waist.  Elphaba wasted no time pushing two fingers inside of her, curling them gently but being mindful of her nails.  Galinda’s back arched, and her eyes rolled back again.

Elphaba’s thumb circled her clit, and Galinda’s hips came up off the cot.

“So good,” she moaned.  “Please don’t stop…”  Elphaba hushed her with another kiss, smiling against her lips as those nails scratched down her back again.

She slipped her hand out from between Galinda’s legs, and the blonde whimpered.

“So pretty,” Elphaba cooed, one hand on either side of Galinda’s shoulders, pressing into the mattress.  Galinda leaned up and bit Elphaba’s bottom lip, dragging her teeth over it before releasing it with a pop.

“Don’t make me beg,” Galinda gasped.  Elphaba smirked, and Galinda narrowed her eyes.  “You want me to beg?”  She gasped softly and brought her hands up Elphaba’s shoulders and neck.  “Please, Elphie.  Please touch me.”  Elphaba shifted then, and Galinda’s hands moved down her arms to grip her hips.  “Wait where—”  Elphaba moved to kneel between Galinda’s legs on the mattress, peering down at her with a shy smile.  Her hands slid up and down pale thighs, thumbs digging into flesh and muscle just enough to have Galinda leaning back against her pillow.  “That feels so good.”

Elphaba’s hands moved again, this time coming up to the pretty pink bra, fingers toying with the ribbon for a moment before tugging until the knot fell apart.  Galinda gasped softly as Elphaba unwrapped her like a birthday present.  She pushed the fabric away, staring down at her for only a moment before she leaned in to take a hard nipple between her teeth.  Galinda sucked in a sharp breath as lips and tongue and teeth worked her over.  Her thighs trembled when Elphaba pulled back to tease the other breast, mouth curving around the soft flesh in a smile.

Elphaba’s mouth was warm and wet, and Galinda was squirming under her.  She felt so good.  Too good.  Her pulse was in her ears and her neck and between her legs, and every place Elphaba nipped and sucked felt the warmth of devout worship of breath and tongue and teeth.

She was moving then, mouth open against her sternum and down toward her stomach.  She nuzzled her nose against Galinda’s belly button, lips playing around the edge until she nipped with her teeth.

“Elphie,” she gasped.  “Please…”  Elphaba’s mouth trailed down along the edge of Galinda’s panties.  Galinda arched up, and Elphaba stopped.  “Elphie?!”  Elphaba raised up a little, gaze searching Galinda’s face until Galinda’s brown eyes focused in on hers.

“I’ve never…I don’t know how.”  Galinda shook her head rapidly.

“It doesn’t—oh, Oz—it doesn’t matter!  It doesn’t…ahhh…”  She squirmed and bit her lip, hips bucking up against air, desperately chasing some kind of friction.  “Please.  I just need your mouth on me.”  Galinda bit back a moan as Elphaba’s trembling fingers began to tug at her panties.  She lifted up so she could slide them off of her.  Elphaba was moving down the bed, trying to get comfortable as Galinda bent her knees and spread her legs.

The scent of arousal was heavy in the air, and Galinda’s gaze moved down to see Elphaba staring at her with equal parts nervousness and need, and she couldn’t help the little smile that curved on her lips at the thought of being Elphaba’s first.  It was powerful.  Moving.  Erotic.  She brought her hand down between her breasts and over her stomach until she met Elphaba’s hand on her thigh, curling their fingers together gently.

“Touch me, Elphie.  Please, I need you to.”  Elphaba’s gaze snapped up to meet hers, and Galinda bit her lip, closing her eyes and resting back against the pillow.  She felt the tentative brush of fingertips over her dripping folds, and within a moment, Elphaba pushed two fingers inside of her, easing in slowly at first but finding a rhythm that had Galinda whimpering, hips jerking at each pass of Elphaba’s thumb over her clit.

She stroked her and teased her, the sounds of Galinda’s moans and whimpers emboldening her.

Elphaba slipped her fingers out, only trail the flat of her tongue up Galinda’s slit, teasing her clit with the point of her tongue before starting over.  Galinda cried out, hips jerking against Elphaba’s face.  She felt strong hands grip her thighs and keep her spread open and pinned to the mattress, and she was certain she’d lose control right then.

It took Elphaba a few moments of stops and starts, uncertain fumblings and quiet exploration.  But soon, she had a rhythm, mouth and fingers working in tandem like Galinda had done for her, and when Galinda was trembling and muffling strangled cries into her hand, she seemed to grow more confident.

Galinda was shaking, blood rushing hot and fast through her veins.  With every pleasurable swipe of Elphaba’s tongue, she moaned encouraging words wrapped in filthy curses, and at one point she was certain she heard Elphaba chuckle, but she was so overcome by pleasure from the vibration in caused between her legs that she didn’t question it.  And she was close.  So close.  Elphaba’s mouth was soft and warm eager against her.

“Right there.  Please don’t stop.  Oh Oz, Elphaba!”  Her hips jerked in rhythm with Elphaba’s tongue, and when Elphaba experimentally slipped her tongue inside, Galinda gasped and broke apart beneath her, coming hard and crying out Elphaba’s name over and over like a prayer to Lurline herself.

Her legs were shaking, and when she relaxed against the mattress, Elphaba slowly lifted her head, resting her chin on Galinda’s stomach.  Galinda could barely register a thought, but as her breathing slowed and her body began to cool, she lifted her head to meet Elphaba’s gaze.  She groaned softly at the sight of Elphaba’s flushed face, lips and chin slick.  She sighed softly, an ache in her chest as she dreaded what came next.

Don’t leave.  Don’t go.  Please don’t.

The words never left her lips, but they echoed through her head and her heart, a mantra, willing Elphaba to stay.  Willing herself to stay.

You’re Galinda Upland.  You want something, you know what to do.

Elphaba sat up a little, and Galinda reached for her.  Elphaba’s lips curved into a small smile at the softness of the gesture, and Galinda scooted over in the bed.  It wasn’t nearly as big or comfortable as her own, but she honestly didn’t mind in the least.  She’d gotten what she wanted, but now she found herself wanting more.  And she wasn’t sure what it meant.  Did it have to mean anything?

Still, she found herself holding her breath until Elphaba crawled up to lay on her side, one leg curling over Galinda’s.  Galinda turned to face her, moving one hand down to rest on her hip.

“Was that…I mean—” Elphaba stuttered.  Galinda brought her fingertips to Elphaba’s lips.

“Elphie?” she whispered, brown eyes glimmering in the soft afternoon light.

“Hmm?”

Galinda caught her bottom lip between her teeth, shy for moment.  But then she smiled and moved in a little closer.

“Would you kiss me?” she asked, words barely above a whisper.  “Hold me?  Just for now.  Would you stay?”  She watched Elphaba’s eyes searching hers for a moment, but then Elphaba leaned in and kissed her softly.  Slowly.  Opening up to her.  There was no rush now.  No desperation.  Just a need for more.  More of this.  More connection. More time.  Just more.

Between kisses, Galinda found herself smiling against Elphaba’s lips, a gentle giggle escaping when soft fingertips and strong nails discovered sensitive, ticklish areas.

It was nice, Galinda had to admit.  It was good to be held, to be touched and kissed.  It felt good.  It felt like more.  And whatever that meant for tomorrow, at least right now she could wrap herself up in the bliss of the moment and forget about everything else.

Chapter 10

Elphaba’s cot was not made to sleep two people, let alone carry the weight of any other activities two people might get up to while curled up together.  And yet, when Elphaba Thropp woke the next morning, neck stiff and back aching, she found her pretty blonde roommate lying on top of her, one thigh slotted between her legs, head resting against a green breast, blonde hair spilled out chaotically all over the place.  Elphaba lifted her head, wincing in pain at the pull in her neck, and she couldn’t help but smile when she saw Galinda lying there, lips still kiss swollen, mouth slightly parted, warm breath ghosting across Elphaba’s nipple without any idea of what she was doing to her roommate in the early morning light.

Galinda Upland looked thoroughly ravaged, and Elphaba could hardly believe that she had done the ravaging.

Elphaba could hardly believe that she was lying here with Galinda wrapped around her like a second skin.

Her hand gently brushed over Galinda’s lower back, the warmth of Galinda’s skin seeping into her fingertips.

Hold me?  Just for now.  Would you stay?

She was so still.  So soft and warm in all of the right places.  Elphaba didn’t want to move, but the early morning light was slowly becoming a harsh glow, warning that all of Shiz would be up and about soon and classes would be underway.

The thing was, Elphaba had no desire to leave this spot.  She had no desire to wake the woman in her arms.  For the first time, she thought about taking a day off and spending it doing things that made her feel good and right and cared for.  This bliss was addictive, and Elphaba knew if she wasn’t careful, this might take her down a very difficult road.

With a soft sigh, her hand came up to gently stroke Galinda’s hair.  Galinda moaned softly in her sleep, a little drop of saliva falling from her open mouth and dripping down the side of Elphaba’s breast.  Elphaba bit back an amused chuckle, not wanting to startle her roommate.

Galinda sighed against Elphaba’s breast and moaned softly, stretching just a little as she turned her head and yawned.

Elphaba held her breath.  Waited.  Her heartbeat quickened when the knee that was between her legs moved.  She shivered and closed her eyes, willing herself to stay still as a rush of desire coursed through her.

There was no doubt that Galinda was stirring when her hands slipped under the pillow Elphaba’s hand rested upon.  She stretched her arms, pushing her pelvis flush against Elphaba’s.  Elphaba bit her lip.  Hard.  Galinda froze, consciousness finally settling into her sleepy head.  She turned her face into Elphaba’s chest, jaw poking right into her sternum.  And then she lifted her head just enough that she could drag her gaze up to the pair of green eyes staring down at her.  For a moment, her pupils went wide with recognition.  And then she lifted her head and turned her face toward Elphaba’s.

Elphaba was certain she’d never seen anyone more beautiful.  The blonde looked at her with equal parts surprise and delight, a sleepy smile perking up on her lips.

“Hi,” she said softly, almost shyly.  She caught her lower lip between her teeth for a clock tick before leaning down to kiss the strip of flesh between Elphaba’s breasts.  Elphaba swallowed hard and struggled to find her voice.

“Hi,” Elphaba managed to choked out.  When Galinda lifted her face again, her big, brown eyes blinked slowly.  Her smile widened.

“Elphie?”

Elphaba shivered again.  There was that Elphie again.  That name that Galinda had taken upon herself to call her without asking and without regret.

Nobody had ever called her Elphie.  Not even as a child.  The only nickname she’d never had was Fabala, and that was only used by her sister and nanny Dulcibear.  She didn’t care much for nicknames for herself, but something about the way this pretty, ridiculously endearing blonde said it made her heart feel warm.

“Hmm?” Elphaba asked, reaching out to brush a stray hair out of Galinda’s face.

“Do you like me yet?” she whispered, pressing a kiss lower down Elphaba’s sternum, just above her stomach.  Elphaba’s stomach muscles jumped at the contact.

“W-what?”

“Do. You. Like.  Me.  Yet?”  She punctuated each word with a kiss, each one lower until she was scooting down the bed and pushing Elphaba’s thighs apart with her hands.  Elphaba’s brows shot up her forehead, and she stammered over her next words.

“I—I—wh—what are you—”  Her jaw snapped shut when Galinda pressed a kiss to the inside of her thigh.

“You said we aren’t friends.  I suppose we aren’t.  You said we don’t like each other.”  Galinda blinked up at her before dragging her gaze to Elphaba’s core.  Elphaba could feel that she was wet, and by the way Galinda licked her lips, this was definitely exactly what she wanted.  “I like you, Elphie.”  She kissed the inside of her other thigh.

Oz,” Elphaba panted, gripping the sheets between her fingers.  “Galinda, I—”

“We don’t have to be friends.  We can be something else, if you like.  Something we don’t have to share with anybody else.”  She nipped at the taut flesh of Elphaba’s thigh, sucking it between her teeth for a moment before releasing it.  “We can just be…this.”  She tapped on Elphaba’s ankle with one hand, and Elphaba brought her knees up instantly, pressing her feet flat against the mattress.

Elphaba’s head was spinning.  Something about the way Galinda could go from a dead sleep to a—well, whatever this was—was impressive.  And a huge turn on.  Elphaba bit her bottom lip as Galinda’s tongue slipped between her legs.

“This?” Elphaba gasped, arching her back as Galinda’s tongue teased over her clit once.  Twice.  Three times.  Then she was licking her from bottom to top, and Elphaba was certain her body was going to catch fire.

“Just. This.”  Her tongue slipped over her clit again, and Elphaba’s hips rocked against her face.

Fuck,” Elphaba bit out, tugging at the sheets as Galinda began to tease at her opening with one finger.  “Fuck.  Oh, fuck.”  Her hips surged forward, knocking gently against the blonde’s chin.  Galinda glanced up at her briefly, dark eyes narrowing just a little as she sucked Elphaba’s clit between her lips.

Elphaba’s head fell back against the pillow, fingers gripping desperately into the bedsheets, and Galinda’s mouth and fingers teased and pleased her slowly and thoroughly until Elphaba’s thighs were shaking and she was coming apart beneath her.

Galinda sucked and licked and kissed every bit of her, drinking her in as the aftershocks faded away.  She rested her head on Elphaba’s stomach then, hands smoothing over her hips and waist as Elphaba’s breathing slowly returned to normal.

“I like you,” Elphaba finally croaked out.  Galinda lifted her head, eyes wide with surprise and excitement.

“What was that, Elphie?” she teased.  She crawled up then, straddling Elphaba’s hips with her knees.  Elphaba’s fingers were still shaking when she brought them up to rest on Galinda’s hips.

Galinda’s hands moved to press into the pillow beside Elphaba’s head, and she leaned over her.  Elphaba blinked up at her, a little smirk tugging at her lips.  Without warning, she gripped Galinda’s hips and used her own for leverage to flip them both over.  She straddled the blonde’s thigh and leaned in to press their foreheads together.

“I like you,” she whispered.

“Oh, thank goodness,” Galinda grinned, bringing one hand up to caress Elphaba’s cheek.  “I was starting to worry for a minute there.”  Elphaba snorted, and Galinda worried her lip between her teeth.  “Elphie?”

“Hmm?”

“Does this mean we’re friends?”

Elphaba peered down at the blonde who was looking up at her with big brown does eyes and a nervous smile.

It was the crack of dawn, and within minutes of waking up, she’d been thoroughly fucked, orgasmed and was now being asked serious questions as if her brain wasn’t still in a post-coital fog.

“Do you want to be friends?” Elphaba asked, leaning down to press her lips against Galinda’s neck, sucking and nipping at the tender flesh as the blonde’s nails trailed down her back.

“I have so many friends,” Galinda sighed, wrapping her arms around Elphaba’s neck.  Elphaba chuckled against her neck.  “But I don’t do this with any of them.” Elphaba lifted her head and stared down at Galinda’s face.  Her pretty pink lips were right there for the kissing, and she leaned in to claim them in a kiss.  Galinda giggled against the soft, languid caress of Elphaba’s tongue against her bottom lip and opened up to her, sighing contentedly.

“So,” Elphaba murmured, brushing her nose against Galinda’s. “Not friends.  Just…what?”  Galinda giggled when Elphaba’s hand came down to caress her hip.

“Just two people who live together and occasionally give each other astoundifying orgasms,” Galinda murmured, mouthing curving against the shell of Elphaba’s ear before giving it a little nip.

“So, roommates,” Elphaba snorted, nails digging into Galinda’s hip.

“Who fuck,” Galinda teased, dragging the tip of her finger down Elphaba’s exquisite jaw.  Galinda nipped at the skin behind Elphaba’s ear.  Then her teeth and tongue nibbled along her jawline.  Elphaba squeezed her eyes shut for a moment, body reeling with need.

“Your mouth,” Elphaba snorted, burying her face against Galinda’s neck.

“You love it,” Galinda purred, biting her lip as Elphaba’s hand slipped between them and pressed against Galinda’s sopping core.  “Fuck, Elphie.”  Elphaba pulled her hand away which drew a whimper from her doe-eyed roommate.

“What do you want?” Elphaba asked softly.

“Your hands on me.”

“You know what I’m asking,” Elphaba pointed out with a smirk.

“That’s all I want.  Your hands on me.  Your mouth.  Everything.  I want it all,” Galinda whined.  “Please, Elphie…”

“I want peace.  And quiet,” Elphaba murmured, hand trembling as it rested low between Galinda’s thighs, fingers soaked and warm as Galinda shifted her hips to try to grind down against her hand.

“So you want me gone?” Galinda asked, her eyes dark.  Challenging.

“I want us to sit down and talk.”

“Talk,” Galinda sighed.  “You want to talk now?”

“We need to learn how to get along.”  Elphaba’s hand slipped higher, and Galinda whimpered.

“I—I think we’re getting along just fine, Elphie,” she moaned, arching her back as Elphaba’s warm fingertip grazed her clit.

“We could do better,” Elphaba murmured, sucking the hollow of the blonde’s throat, nipping at the flesh there until she was certain she’d leave a mark.  “What do you want?”

Galinda moaned as Elphaba’s trembling fingers continued to stroke and tease her.  She squeezed her eyes shut tightly and shook her head.

“Speechless now, hmm?”

“I want—oh, Oz!”

“Yes?”

“I want—fuck, Elphie!”  She groaned and bit out a cry against Elphaba’s neck.  Elphaba smirked at how needy Galinda was.  And she loved that.  She loved how holding her made her feel sexy and confident and maybe even a little bit wicked.  The things she’d learned from Galinda—with Galinda—made her head swim.  She pulled her head back and blinked down at her lover, watching the way Galinda’s tongue darted out to wet her lips.

“What do you want, Galinda?” she asked again, pulling her hand back just enough to make Galinda grunt in frustration.  “Use your words.  If you can.”  The glare that shot from Galinda’s eyes made Elphaba chuckle.  The blonde was trembling beneath her, breaths coming out in little puffs of breath, but she managed to find the words her roommate was asking for out of sheer desperation to mute this conversation and move on to more thrillifying things.

“I want you to come to the Ozdust with me,” Galinda whispered, hands slipping down Elphaba’s back and over her ass.

“Sounds like a date,” the older woman pointed out, pulling back to gaze down into those pretty brown eyes.

“As friends.”

“We’re not friends,” Elphaba reminded her.

“Elphie?”

“Hmm?”

“Just shut up and kiss me.”  Elphaba’s smirk turned into a smile, and she quickly did as her roommate asked.

Maybe, just maybe, there was hope for them yet.

Chapter 11

Elphaba was the last to return from classes that afternoon.  When she entered their shared suite, she was greeted by a sweet, citrusy scent as Galinda Upland flitted about the room in a colorful pink and orange dress that hung loosely at her shoulders, laces trailing freely behind her.  Elphaba blinked at the sight of her rushing about with her blonde hair in curlers.  Her skin shimmered from whatever perfume she’d just spritzed on herself.  Even in such an unkempt state, she looked absolutely ethereal.

Galinda stopped suddenly when she heard the door shut.  Bare feet toed into the soft carpet next to her bed, and she smiled brightly at her roommate.

“Oh good!  You’re just in time!”

“In time for what?” Elphaba asked slowly, pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose.

“To lace me up, of course.  Will you please help me, Elphie?”  Her lower lip, glossed to perfection, poked out in a little pout, and Elphaba shivered.  She tossed her books aside and crossed the room in four quick strides.

“What’s the occasion?” Elphaba asked, stepping up behind Galinda and putting her hands on her waist, guiding her to turn just a little.

“The Ozdust, of course.  I told you about it this morning.”  Elphaba’s brows furrowed.  She remembered Galinda mentioning wanting to go to the Ozdust while they were tangled up in one another, but she hadn’t expected the blonde to want to go so soon.

“You want to go tonight?”

“Of course tonight.  It’s Friday.”  She said it so matter-of-factly, as if it was absurd to think that she wouldn’t be going out tonight.  Her fingers twitched at the blonde’s waist, and she felt Galinda suck in a sharp breath.  She couldn’t help the smirk that perked up on her lips.  Her hands toyed with the brightly colored frills at the top of the dress.  The dress was reminiscent of a beautiful flower or some sort of delicate, brightly colored fish.  And Oz, the sweet, citrus of Galinda’s perfume was dazzling to the senses.  Elphaba found herself leaning in, nose almost brushing the curve of Galinda’s neck where it sloped down to her shoulder.   She stopped herself just short of touching her, but it was clear Galinda could feel her warm breath against her neck.  The girl stiffened, shoulders trembling,  head bowing.

Elphaba straightened and took hold of Galinda’s dress laces, tugging firmly.  Galinda gasped sharply and straightened.

“Too rough?” Elphaba’s voice was too low and thick to sound teasing.  Galinda moaned.  Elphaba bit her bottom lip to suppress the soft laugh that bubbled in her chest.

“Tighter,” Galinda finally choked out.

“Tighter?  Do you actually want to breathe?” Elphaba asked, hands stalling on the laces.

“Just do it,” Galinda groaned.  Elphaba shrugged one shoulder and pulled the laces tighter again.  Galinda moaned again, doubling over and gripping her stomach.

“That’s too much,” Elphaba insisted.

“Oh, Elphie.  You have no idea how much I can take.”  The suggestion in her voice made Elphaba’s thighs clench.  She felt a jolt straight to her core.  “But this feels right.”

“You’re sure?”  Elphaba’s voice waivered.  She wasn’t proud of the fact that a barely touching Galinda Upland and letting her mind piece together the suggestive tone in just a few simple words could have her ready to unravel.  But she hid it well, straightening her shoulders and tying the laces firmly behind Galinda’s back when the girl nodded in approval.

Elphaba’s hands were on her waist again for no reason at all other than the fact that she liked the feel of Galinda’s slender frame against her fingertips.  Galinda straightened up then and took a few experimental deep breaths before spinning around, brown eyes flickering with a kind of heat that made Elphaba’s hands shake.  Elphaba’s hands gripped her waist a little tighter.

“You’re sure that feels o-ok?” Elphaba asked, gaze trailing down the line of Galinda’s jaw, the hollow of her throat, the perfectly constructed collarbones that were dusted with just the faintest bit of glitter that sparkled when the light caught it just the right way.

“It’s perfect,” Galinda sighed, grazing her fingertip down her own collarbone and tracing an invisible line down between her dress.  She bit her glossy lip and let it go with a soft pop.  “And what are you wearing?”

“Me?  Who said I’m going?”

“What?!” Elphie gasped.  “You said you’d come!”

“I did not,” Elphaba snorted.

“But, you did.  I said we’re going as friends.  You said we’re not friends.  I told you to shut up and kiss me.”  Elphaba’s brows furrowed together.  She couldn’t help the smirk on her lips.

“And where in all of that did you hear me agree to come to the Ozdust with you?”

“You asked me what I wanted.  I told you.  You want to talk.  I want to go to the Ozdust.  With you.”  She raised her brows insistently.  “That’s what I want, and that’s what I’m going to get.”

“Spoiled,” Elphaba chuckled.  Galinda beamed at her.

“Exactly.  And you know why I know you’re going to come?”

“Why’s that?” Elphaba asked, face still and curious while she was shaking with excitement on the inside.

“Because,” Galinda murmured, giving Elphaba a slow once over with her sharp gaze before looking her in the eye again, “you can’t wait to catch me alone so you can have your way with me.”  She took a bold step toward her.  “Somewhere in a dark corner, music blaring so loudly that we can feel the floor shaking.  You press me  up against the wall and kiss me like you might never have the chance again.”  Elphaba swallowed hard as Galinda leaned in, lips barely brushing over her ear.  “You’re gonna be thinking about claiming me in some dark corner while everybody else is out on the dance floor completely unaware of the scandalocious things we do to each other in the dark.” The blonde pulled back.  Elphaba’s gaze dragged down to her lips.  Galinda licked her lips and let out a little huff of a laugh, breath ghosting over Elphaba’s lips.

Elphaba wanted to drag this out a little longer, make Galinda beg her to come out tonight.  But the idea of backing her pretty roommate up against the wall in some dark hallway of the night club and kissing her breathlessly was far too tantalizing to pass up.  Still, she wasn’t about to give into the blonde’s every whim, especially when they still had a lot of things to talk about.

“I don’t have anything to wear.”  Her argument was weak.  It even sounded weak.  It was especially less convincing when Elphaba’s hands gripped Galinda’s hips and pulled her in close.  Galinda draped her arms over Elphaba’s shoulders and leaned her forehead against hers.

“Oh, Elphie.  You pretty thing,” she whispered.  “Whatever you wear, just know I’m going to tear it off of you the moment we’re home.”  Whatever shred of control Elphaba possessed withered in that moment, and she pressed into Galinda, claiming her lips in a hungry kiss that was received eagerly.

Galinda giggled against her lips, but those soft, joyous sounds soon turned into needy, desperate moans as Elphaba’s hands began to wander over her back, fingers tugging at the laces, loosening them just enough to grab her attention.

“Wait!  Wait!  Elphie,” Galinda gasped between kisses.

“Hmm?”

“We can’t.  We’ll be late!”

“So we’re late,” Elphaba muttered, burying an annoyed growl against Galinda’s neck.  The blonde’s fingers curled into her waist coat and tugged her just a little closer.

“Elphie, I have to finish my hair,” Galinda panted.  “And pick out my shoes.  And help you find something to w—oh!—wear.”  Galinda’s knees buckled when Elphaba’s tongue traced down her neck.  Elphaba gripped her by the waist a little tighter to keep her standing.  “Oh, Oz.  Elphie, we…oh, that’s good.”  She bit her lips and craned her neck to the side.  Elphaba’s teeth and tongue and lips teased at her warm skin, and she could feel the blonde’s pulse fluttering against her mouth.  She smiled into her skin, relishing the breathy sighs and whimpers as Galinda’s hands moved down her back.

Elphaba smirked when Galinda’s hands began to move lower.  It was only a matter of time before the blonde snapped out of it and put a stop to this distraction, but she wanted to enjoy it while she could.

She brought her hands up to Galinda’s face, thumb rubbing tenderly over the apple of her cheek.  Galinda’s eyelids fluttered open, her eyes impossibly dark with arousal.  Her lips, now smudged from kisses, parted for air, and Elphaba leaned in once more to kiss her.

“Does this—oh—mean you’re coming with me?” she murmured against Elphaba’s lips.

“You want me to come with you?  Or just come?”  Elphaba asked, tongue darting out to tease against the blonde’s lips.  Galinda groaned softly, the double entendre not lost on her.

“You’re not making this any easier,” Galinda whined, bringing her hands up to Elphaba’s arms and gently pushing her back.  She gasped at her own action, and Elphaba took one step back, eyes snapping open and staring directly into Galinda’s.  “You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”  Galinda blinked rapidly and turned to the mirror to see her lip gloss smudged over her kiss-swollen mouth.  “Now I have to reapply!”

“How tragic,” Elphaba sighed, shrugging off her waistcoat as Galinda rushed to her vanity to perfect her makeup.  “Why do you want me to come out with you so badly?”  She caught the reflection of Galinda’s gaze in the mirror.

“It’s more fun that sitting at home studying.”

“Says who?” Elphaba scoffed.

“Most people!” Galinda argued with an exasperated sigh.  She screwed on the cap of her gloss and pouted her lips in the mirror, checking the application from multiple angles to ensure she’d gotten it just right.  Then she turned and strode across the room to Elphaba, turning and reaching back for the laces.  “Would you mind terribly?  After all, it is your fault.”

Elphaba sighed and pursed her lips, reaching for the laces and pulling them snugly again.  Galinda’s hand flew to her stomach, and she flinched when Elphaba tugged the laces firmly behind her before tying them in a pretty bow.

“There.”

“Thank you,” Galinda huffed.  “You’d better hurry up and get dressed.  We’re leaving in ten minutes.”  Elphaba closed her eyes, took a deep breath and turned back to look through her clothes for something appropriate to wear out.

Most of her clothes were black.  Most of her dresses were long-sleeved and long-skirted.  She never wore anything more revealing than her sleeping gown before.  She didn’t like the idea of being on display for a bunch of people who didn’t even like her.

So, she chose what she felt comfortable in.  It was a conservative black piece with deep purple across the chest covered in black lace.  It was one she rarely wore, and tonight seemed like as good a time as any.

She changed quickly while Galinda took her curlers out and found the perfect pair of shoes to go with her gorgeous dress.

Elphaba pulled her braids back in a simple ponytail, and when she finally turned to see Galinda pinning a pink barrette into her hair, she cleared her throat.  The blonde stood up and turned toward her.  Her long, blonde hair hung loosely down her back and curled up at the ends so elegantly.  Her brown eyes sparkled when she looked at Elphaba, and she cocked her head to the side.  She narrowed her eyes as she studied her.

“What?  You don’t like it?”

“No, it’s pretty,” Galinda insisted.  “But it’s missing something.”  She pursed her lips and motioned for Elphaba to come over.  Elphaba joined her across the room, and she opened up one of her large pink chests.  “It needs a hat.”

“A hat?  I’m not much of a hat girl,” Elphaba muttered skeptically.

“Well, every girl should have at least one.”  Galinda started dramatically tossing out an assortment of hats.  Pink ones.  Purple ones.  Blue ones.  Occasionally, the blonde would hold onto one long enough to consider pairing it with Elphaba’s dress before tossing it with the others.  One hat in particular that Galinda pulled out surprised Elphaba.  It was black and looked handmade.  It was crooked at the top and almost looked like it was made for Elphaba’s dress.  Galinda almost tossed it, but Elphaba sucked in a sharp breath.

“Wait.  Wait!”  Galinda dangled the item between her thumb and forefinger.

“This one?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.  “You like it?”

“You don’t?”

“Well, I do.  My granny made it for me.  I just don’t have anything to wear it with,” she explained.  Elphaba cocked her head to the side, a little smile playing on her lips.  “You want to wear it?”  She passed it to Elphaba who took it gingerly into her own hands.  She held it up and eyed it, turning it around before placing it on top of her head.  She watched the smile perk up Galinda’s lips.

“What do you think?”

“I think, Elphaba Thropp, you just became a hat girl.”  Elphaba turned to look at herself in the mirror.  The hat truly did look made for her.  “You can have it if you like it.”

“What?” Elphaba asked, turning toward her roommate again.  Galinda smiled.

“Trust me.  It looks better on you  than it does on me.  Keep it.  I want you to have it.”  She turned then to go do a once over in front of the full length mirror in the bathroom, and Elphaba turned her own attention back to her reflection in the mirror.  The hat fit her perfectly, and she quite liked the uniqueness of its shape.  It was different.  Like her.

She tugged at the brim, letting it shadow her eyes a little.  She pulled it back up, tilting it on her head.  She turned her head from side to side before finally bringing the hat up just to rest naturally.  That was it.  Perfect.

Galinda’s heels clacked against the hard floor as she stepped back into their shared space.  And then she stopped.  Elphaba caught her staring in the mirror, and she brought her hands down from the rim.

“What?  Is something wrong?” she asked.  Galinda just smiled softly and stepped up behind Elphaba in the mirror.  She curled an arm around her waist and rested her head upon her shoulder.

“Why, Miss Elphaba.  Look at you.  You’re beautiful.”

*~*~*~*~*

The music was loud, and the lights shimmered overhead when Galinda and Elphaba stepped through the doors at the Ozdust.  Elphaba tensed as soon as they stepped inside and the few people lingering in the lobby turned their attention directly on them.  Elphaba cringed inwardly.  Galinda smiled in that charming way she did anytime she had an audience.  She tossed her hair and waved back when one of her admirers greeted her from across the room.

The pounding bass thundered through the halls leading to the dance floor.  The flashing lights from inside flickered on the walls, and Elphaba suddenly felt overwhelmed.

“Galinda!  We thought you weren’t coming!” Pfannee called, animatedly waving his arms from the hall where he and Shenshen were standing looking sweaty and excited.  Elphaba felt her stomach twist into a knot.  She looked to Galinda who was now distracted by her questionable friends and decided to make herself scarce.

It was all too confusifying.  The things she was feeling.  The things she wanted.  The things she didn’t want.  The things she and Galinda had left unsaid between them.  She felt dizzy.  Warm.  Anxious.  And Pfannee’s loud laugh at something Galinda said made Elphaba shrink inside herself a little.  She had never been a social butterfly for obvious reasons.  But she was already ready to leave and go home and settle in with a good book.

Peace and quiet.

But there was no chance of that right now.  Because as much as she wanted to go home where it was quiet and still, she didn’t want to just leave Galinda like that.  Not when Galinda had made it clear she wanted to spend time with her like this.  Not when she’d given her a sentimental gift that her grandmother had made.  Not when they were so close to having a conversation they desperately needed to have and had avoided for too long now.

Right about now, Galinda’s fantasy about going off into some dark hallway and ravishing one another sounded like a pretty nice idea.  Away from people.  Away from prying eyes.  She’d felt so utterly exposed when they’d walked through those doors, like she owed these strangers an explanation for her presence.

She didn’t feel that way with Galinda.  In fact, the more time she spent with her, the more she’d rather just spend time with her.  Even if it wasn’t quiet.  Even if Galinda was insufferable at times.  Even if they butted heads and argued once in a while.  She enjoyed being with her.  She enjoyed the way this warmth settled in her chest every time Galinda looked at her with those pretty brown eyes.

We aren’t friends.

She chewed the inside of her cheek as she cast a glance at Galinda over her shoulders.  She was positively in her element, talking with Pfannee and Shenshen who hung on her every word.

Elphaba swallowed hard and turned then, stepping out of the lobby and leading herself down the hall toward the thundering music and the flashing lights.

There was a large crowd scattered all through the ballroom.  She recognized some familiar faces from classes and campus in general.  But there were others she didn’t recognize at all.  And as she stepped into the room, the music faded out as the animal players set up for their next number, and those near her took a wide step back and others turned to see the commotion as whispers and stares commenced.

She sighed to herself, trying not to react to their reactions.

What is she doing here?”

“What’s that on her head?”

“Does she own another color?”

“She looks like she’s going to a funeral.”

Giggles and scattered laughter were muted in the large room.  The heat from all of the overcrowded bodies moving around hit Elphaba like a tidal wave.  She took a step back.  She swallowed and brought her hand to her hat for a moment.  She considered taking it off, but why should she?  Who would she be doing that for?  Herself?  No.  Them?  Why should she do anything for them?

She felt the heat rush to her face.  She was used to being looked at and laughed at by a room full of strangers.  It didn’t make it any less uncomfortable.  She started to turn when she felt a hand curl into hers.  She jolted and turned her head to see Galinda stepping up beside her with a smile on her face.

“Come on, Elphaba.  Let’s find a table.”  She leg go of Elphaba’s hand and instead linked their arms together, leading Elphaba across the dance floor in silence as the drummer gave a few experimental kicks to the bass.  A few whispers lifted up above the crowd, and Elphaba could feel all eyes on them.  She swallowed hard and blinked at Galinda in surprise.  The blonde kept looking forward until they reached a small table at the side of the room.  She sat down.  Elphaba slowly slid into the seat across from her.

The music picked up again, and just like that, everyone went back to what they were doing before Elphaba walked into the room.

“You didn’t have to do that,” Elphaba said quietly.

“I didn’t, but I wanted to.  Let’s be honest, Elphie.  If it wasn’t for our little…feud…most people wouldn’t react that way to you.”

“Yes they would,” Elphaba snorted.  “It’s been that way my whole life.  Even the kids I went to school with before Shiz.  We knew each other since childhood, and they still…”  She pursed her lips, took a deep breath and shook her head.  “Thank you.”

“You don’t have to thank me for that, Elphie.”  She looked around.  Nobody was watching them now except for Pfannee and Shenshen who were tearing across the dance floor in their direction.

“Galinda, come dance,” Pfannee insisted.  Shenshen’s eyes went wide, and she nodded in encouragement.  It was obvious they wanted to get information out of her, and Elphaba couldn’t help but smirk.

“Go on.  I’ll join you in a minute,” Galinda promised with a wave.  Shenshen sighed dramatically but followed Pfannee out to the dance floor.  Galinda turned her attention back to Elphaba. She hopped up out of her seat and reached for her hand. “Come dance with me.”

She’s kidding right?

“What?  No!”  Elphaba flattened her hands on the table top.  “I don’t dance.”

“What?  Everybody dances.”

In front of other people?

“I don’t.”

“You can’t?”

Not well.

“I don’t want to.”

“Please, Elphie,” Galinda begged, lower lip pouting out.  Elphaba sighed.

She doesn’t give up, does she?

“I’m fine here,” Elphaba insisted.  “You go.  Have fun.”  Galinda put her pout back in, but her face clouded in defeat.

“We can just have fun, Elphie.  We don’t have to be anything other than…roommates.  If that’s what you’re worried about…”

“I’m not,” Elphaba insisted.  “I’m here, ok?  I got dressed up.  I came here with you.  I just don’t want to dance.  Is that alright with y—"

Elphaba saw movement behind the blonde.  She looked past her to see someone walking up behind Galinda, a slender red head she didn’t recognize.  She had long, straight hair and wore a pretty green dress that clung to her in places that were hard to not notice.  And she was looking directly at Elphaba.

“That’s a nice hat,” she said with a smile, brushing past Galinda and settling into the seat she’d just been sat in.  “Hi.”

“H-hello,” Elphaba said quietly, glancing to Galinda before looking back at the redhead.

“I’m Remille.  You can call me Remi.  Everyone does.”

“Excuse me,” Galinda interrupted.  “We were having a conversation.”  She didn’t even glance at Remi.  Her eyes were fixed on Elphaba who narrowed her eyes at her.

“Oh, I’m sorry.  I didn’t realize you were together,” the redhead uttered, glancing back and forth between Galinda and Elphaba.

“We’re…”  Elphaba was at a loss for words.  But the look in Galinda’s eye told her that she was better off keeping her mouth shut anyway.

“Sorry.  I’m new here.  I’m not trying to get in—in the middle of anything.”  Remi started to move from her seat, but Galinda crossed her arms across her chest.

“The only thing you got in the middle of was a conversation.  I suppose that will have to wait until later.”  She quirked an eyebrow before turning on her heels and exiting to the dance floor. Elphaba felt her heart sink.  What was that even supposed to mean?  Was she upset about her not wanting to dance?  Was she mad about being interrupted by this stranger?  Whatever it was, Elphaba had a feeling the conversation was going to be loud.

Elphaba’s gaze fixed on Galinda’s retreating form.  She’d all but forgotten about the redhead until she felt a tap on her arm.

“I’m sorry.  I don’t know what I just interrupted, but I didn’t mean to get between you and your girlfriend.”  Elphaba blinked at her.  She decided not to correct her, because honestly, the truth felt like a lie.  “Maybe you should go…fix whatever that was.”  Remi motioned toward the dance floor before sliding out of the seat and disappearing into the crowd.

Galinda was talking to Shenshen and Pfannee.  Elphaba half expected someone to glare at her, but nobody even looked.  Not even Galinda.  Instead, the three started moving to the music, joining in with a larger crowd as the music swelled and the beat quickened.  And soon, Galinda was smiling and having a great time, and Elphaba sat there in the dark with her stomach twisting into knots inside of her.

Galinda was twirling about, and she looked beautiful.  Graceful.  She looked happy.  And it was eating Elphaba up on the inside that Galinda was upset with her.  They’d been upset with each other many times before, but now?  Now it felt different.  And maybe they weren’t friends.  But they were certainly more than roommates.  And as much as they’d both been skirting around the definition of their relationship, there was something there that needed to be fleshed out.

Elphaba’s heart was racing now.  She was overheated.  Her head hurt.  She just wanted to get away.  She needed quiet.  She just wanted to be alone.  But most of all?  She just wanted to be alone with Galinda.  She wanted to talk to her and feel her skin against her fingertips.  She wanted everything to stop for just a moment so she could catch up with everything that had been happening so Oz-damned quickly.

The room was spinning.  The beat of the bass drum was vibrating in her bones and pulsing in her ears.  And there was Galinda, laughing and dancing.  A few of the boys she’d seen around campus were now dancing close to her, and Elphaba felt a knot grow in her heart.  Was this jealousy?  Was this what Galinda felt when the redhead had sat down with Elphaba and started talking?

All she knew was that this was a lot more complicated than it ever started out to be, and she needed to get out and get some air and figure out exactly what she wanted to say to Galinda before she said the wrong things.

She stood up and glanced to the dance floor once again just in time to see one of the boys take Galinda’s hand and twirl her around.  Elphaba’s stomach clenched.  She turned away.  Her head was swimming, and her legs felt heavy and awkward.  But she managed to stumble out into another hall, dark and deserted.  The air was significantly cooler, and as she walked further back, the music faded.  But her pulse pounded in her ears and in her throat and in her chest.  She clutched her stomach and took a few gasping breaths to try to calm herself.  And then there it was.  The sound of heels on the cement floor behind her, echoing down the dark corridor in her direction.

“Elphie!”  Elphaba said nothing.  Instead, she leaned back against the wall, closing her eyes and waiting for the dizziness to subside.  She swallowed hard, and the echo of footfalls grew louder in her ears, thundering right along with her own heartbeat. “Elphaba.”  She opened her eyes.  There was Galinda, wide-eyed in the dim light, face flushed, hair slightly unkempt from rushing.

“I’m fine,” Elphaba choked out.  Galinda frowned deeply and shook her head.

“No you’re not.”  She reached out and took Elphaba’s hand in hers.  “Come on.”

“What?”

“Come on.  We’re going to do this.  Now.”

“What?”

“You want to talk, Elphaba Thropp.  We’re going to talk.”  She led her deeper down the corridor, past two swinging double doors where the clattering of dishes revealed they were near the kitchen.  They kept going until they reached the end of the hall where another set of double doors led them into a small banquet room.  It was dark and empty save for four or five large tables with chairs turned over and resting on the tabletops.  Galinda pulled her inside and shut the door behind them both.  It was quiet, and the only sound from the main dance hall was the occasional echo of feedback from one of the speakers.

Galinda stood before Elphaba, hands resting at her stomach, one atop the other as if she were protecting herself from something.  Elphaba reached up and slowly removed her hat, placing it down on one of the tables.

“What was that out there?  Why did you leave?”

“I needed some air,” Elphaba murmured.

“Don’t lie to me, Elphaba Thropp.”

“I’m not,” Elphaba bit out, voice raising just a bit.  Galinda’s head jerked back, and she huffed, straightening her arms down to her sides.  “It was too much.  All at once.”

“What was?  Tonight?” Galinda asked, eyes flashing with concern.  Elphaba rubbed her face with one hand and sighed.

“I don’t know.  It wasn’t until it was.”

“What?” Galinda asked, narrowing her eyes.  “Us?  Are you talking about us?”

“No!  I—I don’t know.”  Her voice softened, and her shoulders slumped.  “I don’t know.”  She swallowed hard and forced herself to look Galinda in the eye.  “I never expected to like you.  I never expected what—what we have.” She gestured emphatically between them.  “When we’re together at home?  That feels right.  It’s good.  But out here?  I don’t know how to be with you.  We’re so different, Galinda.  All of these people look to you, and the second you come in here and take my hand, they just…”  She shook her head.

“Elphie, breathe,” Galinda urged, reaching out to take her hands.  “It’s ok.”

“I’m used to being the center of attention.  I never wanted that.  I don’t want that.  And you?  You walk into a room and all eyes turn to you.  But when people look at you, they don’t gasp or laugh or whisper to their friends.  They look at you like whatever you’re about to say is the most important thing they’re ever going to hear.  And I get that.  Because when I see you, I feel happy.  It’s not something I’m used to.”

“Elphie,” Galinda whispered, eyes widening in surprise.

“We don’t get along most of the time.  We don’t like each other sometimes.  But when we’re together?  When we’re—”  She swallowed hard, face flushing.  “It’s the happiest I’ve ever felt.  And coming here with you tonight and feeling everybody staring at us when we walked in, everybody staring at me when you weren’t with me?  I don’t want to share what we have with those people.”

Galinda swallowed hard and nodded, slowly letting go of Elphaba’s hands.

“I understand,” she whispered, her lower lip trembling.

“But more than that, I don’t want to pretend this is less than what it is anymore.”  Elphaba’s voice was soft and even now.  She sounded sure.  Galinda’s eyes widened, and her hand flew to her chest.

“What are you saying?”  And suddenly, there they were, the words on the tip of her tongue just begging to fall out.  She took a deep breath, and Galinda stepped closer.  “Elphie.  Talk to me.  You wanted to talk.  Talk.  Please.”  Elphaba took a deep breath, hands twitching at her sides.  She swallowed hard and looked Galinda straight in the eye.

“You’re loud.”  Galinda’s brows shot up.  “You hum when I’m trying to do homework, and I don’t even think you know you do it.  But I can’t concentrate, because all I hear is your voice.  And I don’t hate it.  You tap your nails.  When you’re waiting for me to finish in the bath, I hear your nails just clicking away out there, rushing me like the Oz-damned Time Dragon Clock.  You’re impatient.  You’re stubborn.  You’re impulsive. You’re spoiled, and you can be such a brat.  But even when you’re rushing me, when you’re frustrating me, when you’re pushing so hard to get your way, you’re still the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met.  And before I fell in love with you, I wasn’t even sure I was ever going to find anyone who’d look at me the way you do—the way you’re looking at me right now, and—what’s wrong?”

Galinda’s hands, one on her chest, the other clutching the skirt of her dress, were shaking.  Her eyes were wide, brimming with tears, and her mouth was open in a soft gasp.  Elphaba’s heart was pounding in her ears, and her mind was reeling, desperately piecing together the last few words she’d said.  And then—

Oh.  Oh Oz.

Elphaba’s eyes went wide, and Galinda launched herself into her arms.  Elphaba yelped as Galinda’s arms circled around her neck.  Her lips were on hers in an instant, kissing her breathlessly, and Elphaba’s arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer.

“Galin—”

“Just kiss me,” Galinda murmured between needy moans and hungry kisses.

“Oz, Galinda we’re—”

“I don’t care,” Galinda panted, walking Elphaba back toward the door, pressing her into it.  The blonde pulled back, eyes damp with tears, a smile brightening her face in the darkness of the room.  “You love me.”

“I—”

Galinda’s lips were on hers again, tongue teasing until Elphaba opened up to her, and she whimpered when Elphaba’s hand moved from her hip to her breast and gave her a gentle squeeze.  She pressed herself into Elphaba’s hand, her own hands moving to grip Elphaba’s skirt, bunching it up and hoisting the fabric up past her hips.

“Galinda, what—”

“Shhh,” Galinda hissed.  “Who’s loud now?”  She was on her knees instantly, teeth and fingers tugging at the fabric of Elphaba’s panties.  Elphaba whimpered, covering  her mouth with her hand, biting into her own palm as Galinda pressed a kiss to the front of her panties.

“Fuck!”

“Quiet, Elphie.”  She leaned forward, gently biting the inside of Elphaba’s thigh.  Elphaba’s knees buckled, and she reached down to hold onto Galinda’s shoulders for support.  Galinda Upland of the Upper Uplands paused.  Elphaba’s eyes flew open, and she looked down at the blonde on her knees in front of her.  Galinda bit her lip and smiled, the heat in her eyes waning for only a moment.

“I love you, too, Elphaba Thropp.”  A happy laugh fell from Elphaba’s lips, and Galinda started to lean forward again before a loud clatter in the hallway broke the tension in the moment.  Galinda gasped and rose to her feet again, grabbing Elphaba’s hand in hers.  She let the fabric of Elphaba’s dress fall back around her legs.

“What are you doing?” Elphaba panted.

“I’m taking you home,” Galinda whispered, brushing her lips over Elphaba’s.

“But we just got here,” Elphaba muttered, craning her neck as Galinda’s mouth trailed down her neck.

“We made an appearance.  Besides,” she panted, “I just wanted to be with you.  And right now?  I want you in my bed.”  She kissed Elphaba again, dragging her bottom lip between her teeth.  “Any objections?”  She raised an eyebrow, and Elphaba swallowed hard.  The green eyed girl shook her head, and Galinda’s smile widened.  “Good.  Let’s go home.”

Chapter 12

The dash back to Shiz was punctuated with giddy laughs, arms curling around waists and lips stealing kisses every now and then on the gondola ride.  Breathy whispers filled the air, rising in the night sky like puffs of breath on a cold winter’s evening.  Galinda Upland’s heart was fluttering in her chest as green fingers curled against her own.

They’d made their escape from the Ozdust quickly and efficiently.  Galinda had simply excused herself when Pfannee and Shenshen had cornered her coming out from the back hall.  She’d given them some silly excuse as to why she was leaving, and Elphaba hadn’t even bothered coming up with one since she knew they wouldn’t care either way.

Now they were on land, walking back to Shiz, fingers brushing lightly against each other’s as their arms swung side by side.  It wasn’t until they stepped into the dorm lobby that Galinda gently pushed Elphaba back against the wall and claimed her lips in a hungry kiss, dragging a deep moan out of Elphaba that made them both break apart in surprise.

“Well,” Galinda smirked, wiping her thumb over Elphaba’s bottom lip, “I don’t ever want to hear another thing about my being loud.”  Elphaba smirked, and Galinda felt her heart leap into her chest.  She pressed into Elphaba again, kissing her hungrily, tugging on the skirt of her dress to pull her closer.

The echo of a door down the hall startled them as if they weren’t in a common area where other Shiz students resided.  Still, Galinda huffed out a sigh of frustration that someone had the audacity to open and close a door while she was feasting on the delectable lips of one Elphaba Thropp.

She reached down, linking her fingers with Elphaba’s, gazing dragging up from her lips to her eyes.  “Come on.”

Elphaba followed wordlessly behind her, one hand coupled with hers, the other resting somewhere between her hip and her waist.  Galinda’s skin tingled from the warmth of her touch, and she tried to focus on the scuffle and click of heels on the marble floor and on the stair steps.  And just as they reached the dorm and let themselves inside, Galinda spun around again, let go of Elphaba’s hand and wrapped her arms around her neck.  She reached up and lifted the hat off of Elphaba’s head, placing it atop a nearby lamp.

“Finally,” she panted.  “I’ve wanted to get you alone all night.”

“You wanted to go out,” Elphaba reminded her.

“How silly of me,” Galinda sighed, pressing into Elphaba again, fingers moving to the back of Elphaba’s dress.  The slide of a zipper, the rustling of lace as the dress loosened and finally pooled at Elphaba’s feet, coupled by the matching bra and panty ensemble Elphaba wore underneath.  All for her.  Galinda’s mouth watered, and as she squeezed her legs together, she could feel the slick of arousal on her thighs.

She spun around then, desperately reaching behind her back for the laces.  Elphaba’s hands found hers and took over, loosening the knot before slipping the pretty laces slowly.  She pressed a kiss to the back of Galinda’s neck, and Galinda’s knees trembled.  One hand on her stomach, she leaned forward, a low moan dragging from her lips.

“Please, Elphie.  Hurry.”  Her voice was high and eager, and she knew she sounded desperate.  She didn’t care.  She just needed Elphaba’s hands and mouth on her as soon as possible.

She wasn’t exactly sure when the dress had fallen free from her body, because the next thing she knew, Elphaba was spinning her around again and backing her across the room toward her bed.  Her bra was loose, barely hanging onto her body as the press of Elphaba’s chest against hers was the only thing keeping it upright.

“Oh, Oz,” Galinda panted, arms encircling Elphaba’s neck.  Elphaba’s hands moved along her arms, lifting them long enough for her to tug the garment off of Galinda and discard it into the growing trail of clothes strewn across the dormitory floor.

Galinda’s hands were on her next, easily unhooking the black lacy bra and tugging it free.

Her calves hit the cool steel of the bed frame, and she sat down, pressing kisses between Elphaba’s breasts before sucking one hard nipple between her lips, giving it a little tug.  Elphaba groaned, rolling her head back, her gorgeous braids spilling down her back.  She looked up at Elphaba then, watching the way her eyes fluttered shut, the way her lips parted in a moan, the way her tongue darted out to wet her lips.  She was gorgeous.

She’s all mine.

Galinda blinked in surprised, the thought hitting her like a lightning bolt.  The roommate she’d spent so much time trying to hate was standing there before her, giving herself over completely, and Galinda could hardly believe that this woman was in love with her.  She’d never felt so Oz-damned thankful for anything in her entire life.

It suddenly occurred to the blonde that the three words that were swimming around in her heart and in her head hadn’t actually been uttered by the older woman.  The sentiment was there, of course, but she hadn’t said it directly.  And suddenly, Galinda needed it more than she needed air.

Galinda lay back on the bed, gently grabbing Elphaba’s hands and tugging her along.  Elphaba crawled over her, gaze darkening as she pressed kisses along her neck and jaw.  When her lips were on Galinda’s again, the blonde whimpered softly, fingers grazing along the map of her spine.

“Elphie?” Galinda asked softly, between warm kisses.

“Hmm?” Elphaba murmured, slipping her tongue against Galinda’s, swallowing the moan the moment it left the blonde’s mouth.

“Will you say it?”

“Hmm?”

“Say it.  Tell me.  I want to hear you say it.”

Elphaba pulled back breathlessly, green eyes fixed firmly on brown.  Elphaba’s cheeks flushed dark, and Galinda leaned up and pressed another kiss to the corner of her mouth.  Galinda pulled back then, lips parted and swollen from kisses, brown eyes wide and needy.  She pressed her lips together, brows worrying together in expectation.  Elphaba leaned in, pressing another kiss to her lips before pulling back.

“Galinda Upland,” she whispered.  “I love you.”   The younger woman’s eyes welled up, and she felt that heavy rush like her body was falling but her soul was just trying to catch up.  She pulled Elphaba down flush against her, a giddy laugh flying from her lips before Elphaba quieted her with a kiss.

“I love you, Elphaba Thropp,” Galinda whispered, breath ghosting against soft, sweet lips.  And then, without warning, she gently pushed against Elphaba’s shoulders.  Elphaba moved then, letting Galinda guide her onto her back.  Galinda crawled over her, pressing soft kisses down her body, sighing contentedly as she scooted down the bed to perch between her legs.  She kissed the inside of one soft, green thigh and then hooked her thumbs into the sides of Elphaba’s panties.  “You won’t be needing these.”  She tapped at Elphaba’s hip, and Elphaba lifted so Galinda could slide them off.  With a gleam in her eye, she slid Elphaba’s boots and knee high stockings off one by one.

“Galinda, please,” Elphaba whined.

“I like you begging me,” Galinda teased, kissing a particularly sensitive spot on her lover’s thigh that had her twisting the bedsheets between her fingers.  “So sensitive, and I haven’t even touched you yet.”

She bit back a teasing smirk before pressing a kiss higher up her thigh.  Elphaba’s legs spread for her, knees bending, feet planting firmly on the mattress.  Galinda’s mouth curved against soft flesh, smiling into the muscle of Elphaba’s thigh, biting down just enough to get a reaction.  Elphaba’s hips bucked.  Another whine tore from her lips.  “Aw, baby.  Did I hurt your feelings when I said you were loud, too?”  Elphaba’s head snapped up, and she glared at her, but there was no denying the heat in her eyes.  “Let me make it up to you.”  And she did, sliding her tongue up the length of Elphaba’s slit from bottom to top, teasing her clit just briefly before squeezing her thighs and spreading her legs wider.

Fuck, Galinda,” Elphaba panted.

“Mmm,” Galinda moaned, lips and tongue kissing and licking and sucking each bit of sopping flesh.  She reveled in the taste of her, the feel of her, the smell of her, the sound of her crying out.  Elphaba’s hips knocked against Galinda’s jaw, and she chuckled softly, holding one hand against her hip to keep her settled.  “You taste fucking incredible.  Have I ever told you that?”

She gave her no time to respond and dove in, teasing her tongue at Elphaba’s core before pressing it, moaning as she felt Elphaba contract around her tongue.  The orgasm seemed to hit Elphaba all at once as the combined feel of Galinda’s tongue on her and inside of her and the sounds she made as she pleased her all brought that tight, tense coil deep down to a breaking point.  She came hard, one hand clutching the sheets, the other muffling the primal scream that came from somewhere deep.  Her legs shook on either side of Galinda’s head, and when she started to relax, the blonde lifted her head, licking her lips, staring at her lover adoringly.

She pressed soft kisses to Elphaba’s stomach before crawling up to lie beside her in the bed, pulling the sheets over both of them.  Her hand moved to rest against Elphaba’s chest, pride swelling in her own as she felt the thunderous rumbling of her lover’s heart.

“Sweet Elphie,” Galinda cooed, kissing the side of Elphaba’s mouth until she turned her head to meet her fully.  “My sweet, sweet Elphie.”

*~*~*~*~*

“Have you always known?  That you liked women, I mean,” Galinda asked, chin propped in one hand as she trailed one soft fingertip down the center of Elphaba’s chest.  Elphaba turned her head to look at the blonde.  A little smile curled at her lips.

“I never thought about it,” Elphaba shrugged.

“Never?” Galinda gasped.  Elphaba smirked.  Galinda narrowed her eyes.  “Liar.”  Galinda bit her bottom lip and continued trailing her fingertip up and down Elphaba’s sternum.

“I didn’t have friends, Galinda.  The other kids were horrible to me.”

“There wasn’t some girl…or boy that you liked despite the teasing?”

“No,” Elphaba snorted.  “But—”

“Oh,” Galinda perked up, leaning in to press a kiss to Elphaba’s shoulder before blinking up at her with those big brown eyes.  “There’s a but.”

“I was about sixteen,” Elphaba explained slowly, a little smile creeping up on her face in fond remembrance.  “One of our teachers was out sick for about a month, so we had a substitute.”  Her eyes flashed to Galinda’s curious gaze.  “She was fresh out of college, probably about twenty-one or twenty-two.”

“Elphie, how scandalocious!” Galinda gasped, hand splaying out flat over Elphaba’s chest, fingertips gently drumming in time with Elphaba’s heartbeat.

“Nothing happened,” Elphaba snorted.  “She was nice to me. That’s all.  I wasn’t used to that.”  Galinda blinked at her.  “What?”

“You liked her.”

“I did.”

“What did you like about her?”

“She was nice.”

“Oh, Elphie, you’re so boring,” Galinda teased.  Elphaba snorted, and Galinda nuzzled her cheek with her nose.  “What else did you like about her?”

“She laughed at my jokes.”

“You tell jokes?  Elphaba Thropp, I have so much to learn about you.” Elphaba laughed then, fully, and she covered her face with her hands.  Galinda sat up in the bed beside her, letting the sheets pool into her lap.  “I like it when you laugh.”  Galinda reached out to pull her hands back from her face.  “You’re so pretty, Elphie.”  Elphaba’s laughter faded into a soft smile, and she curled her fingers with Galinda’s.  “What else did you like?”

“You’re not letting this go, huh?” Elphaba asked, turning onto her side, hand sliding under the sheet and grazing over Galinda’s thigh.  Galinda smirked and reached under to place her hand over Elphaba’s, stilling her.

“I really want to know,” she pouted.  Elphaba sighed.

“She was pretty.  She had these big brown eyes.  She always wore these pretty dresses and wore perfume that was sweet but not overpowering.  And when she’d lean over my shoulder to check my work during a test, I’d get nervous, and my hand would shake.”

“So what I’m hearing is that you have a type,” Galinda teased with a wink.

“Well, her hair was brown, and she had freckles, and she looked nothing like you.”

“Ruining the moment here, Elphie,” Galinda sighed. Elphaba laughed again, sitting up and pulling her arms around Galinda’s waist.  “I guess that was the first time I felt attracted to anyone.”

“So it’s just women then?”

“I—I don’t know,” Elphaba stuttered.  “I certainly don’t care about any of the boys here.”  She leaned in, resting her forehead against Galinda’s.  Galinda smiled, eyelids fluttering closed, hands gracefully trailing up and down Elphaba’s back.  “I know I like you.”

“Correction.  You love me,” Galinda grinned.

“I do,” Elphaba murmured, leaning in for a kiss.

“So you came to Shiz, met me and despite the fact that we didn’t even like each other, quarreled and tried to make each other miserable, you were still attracted to me.  You still fell in love with me.  And I fell in love with you.”  Elphaba pulled back, quirking an eyebrow.

“Well, when you put it that way, I think we’re both deeply troubled,” she sighed, getting another giggle out of Galinda.

“I can live with that if you can,” Galinda purred, tugging Elphaba’s lower lip between her teeth and letting it go with a little pop.  Elphaba smirked and reached up to brush a lock of blonde hair over Galinda’s ear.

“What about you?” Elphaba asked, thumb brushing over Galinda’s jawline.  “Have you always known?”  Galinda’s smile faded just a little, and she sighed, shrugging one shoulder.

“I was always popular.  I had boys begging to take me out.  I’m not bragging, I’m just being honest.  I liked the attention.  I liked the flowers and the pretty little gifts they’d give me.  But after a while, they started to expect things in return.”  Elphaba’s brows furrowed in concern, and she gently stroked Galinda’s arm.  “A few of them tried to pressure me, and I shut them down.  But there were a couple of boys who were sweet and gentle and charming, and while I enjoyed spending time with them, I didn’t feel much more than friendship with them.  I thought maybe there was something wrong with me.  All of my friends told me about their boyfriends.  You know, all the details.”  Galinda rolled her eyes.  “So I thought, maybe I should just get it over with and see what the fuss was about.”

“And?”

“Well,” Galinda murmured, leaning in to press a soft kiss to Elphaba’s lips, trailing her hand down to tease against her thigh.  “I told you, I’ve never gotten as wet as when I’m with you.  Never.  For anybody else.”  Elphaba shivered, gaze dragging down to Galinda’s lips.

“Oz,” Elphaba gasped.

“I was pretty sure I knew I was gay after my first time with a boy.  But I thought maybe the first time wasn’t supposed to be good.  I thought maybe if we tried again.  And we did. And there was never any magic.”

“Magic?”

“Hmm.  That tension that coils down low at the softest touch.  Even a look.  I’ve only ever felt that with you.”  She kissed Elphaba again.  “There was another boy later.  I thought maybe the first guy wasn’t the right guy.  It was different, but the same.  No magic.  And then one night, I had a girl over.  We were friends, but not close, you know?  She was pretty, and I felt something.  We kissed, and it was like a window opened.”  Elphaba smiled, watching Galinda’s  cheeks flush and eyes sparkle at the memory.  “I was trembling the whole time.  Being with her was better.  The magic wasn’t quite there, but I enjoyed the way she touched me, the way I could touch her.  I had my first orgasm with a partner that night.  But, I never knew what real magic was until you.”  She kissed Elphaba deeply, fingers curling at the back of her neck.

“It’s a miracle we even found that magic, what with the loathing and resentment and constant bickering,” Elphaba chuckled.

“Mmm, an added bonus,” Galinda grinned.  They lay back together again, Galinda resting her head on Elphaba’s chest.  “I’ve never told anyone that before.”

“Me neither,” Elphaba offered softly, stroking her fingers through gently curled blonde hair.  Galinda closed her eyes rested one hand low on Elphaba’s stomach.  “Elphie?”

“Hmm?”

“Does this mean I’m your girlfriend?”  Elphaba’s breath hitched, her stomach muscles tensing for a brief moment.

“Do you want to be?” she asked.  Galinda lifted her head, turning her face toward Elphaba’s so she could look into her eyes.

“More than anything,” she admitted.

“More than being a sorceress?” Elphaba teased.

“You wound me, Elphie,” Galinda sighed, a coy smile playing on her lips.

“Forgive me.  What can I do?” Elphaba asked, hand stroking lovingly down her lover’s back.

“A kiss is a good start,” Galinda smiled, leaning up to nuzzle Elphaba’s cheek with her nose.  Elphaba smiled, eyes glimmering with unshed tears.  Happiness was beautiful on her.

“Come here, then,” Elphaba urged, stroking one nail gently down the curve of Galinda’s jaw.  Galinda smiled and met her girlfriend a tender kiss.

Chapter Text

Chapter 13 - Epilogue

Elphaba was still half-asleep when a birthday cake scented waft of air hit her in the face.  She cracked one eye open to see Galinda, fully dressed, practically dancing around the dorm with a notebook in her hands.  She waved a shiny pink ink pen in her hand as she walked.  A smile spread across her face when she saw Elphaba staring at her sleepily.

“Oh, good!  You’re awake!”

“And so are you,” Elphaba muttered sleepily, rubbing her eyes before reaching for her glasses and glancing at the clock.  “At seven a.m.  On a Saturday.”  Galinda beamed brightly at her and flopped down on her stomach next to Elphaba.  She leaned in to press a chaste kiss to Elphaba’s lips.  Galinda’s breath smelled like sweet mint, and she hummed softly when she pulled away.

“I woke up early, and I couldn’t get back to sleep.  I didn’t want to wake you, so I got up and started writing.”

“Writing?” Elphaba asked, blinking sleepily at her girlfriend.

“You want to talk.  We talked a little last night, but I feel like there’s a lot we have to learn about each other.  So, I made a list.”  She held the book out proudly.  Elphaba sat up in bed, scratching her neck anxiously as she opened up to the first page to find bright pink ink scrawled all over the first page. She squinted and glanced at Galinda who just raised her eyebrows in anticipation.

“You want to do this in chronological order, or…?”  Galinda sat up in bed and tossed her hair over her shoulders, smoothing her hands down the front of her dress to prevent wrinkling.

“Well, there’s a lot we don’t know about each other.  In spite of that, we fell in love with each other.  So I feel like we owe it to ourselves—and each other—to get to know each other better.”  Elphaba blinked at her and looked down at the book, one green  fingertip following the list slowly.

“Number 4.  Favorite color.”  She smirked.  “Well, I know yours.”

“Oh yeah?” Galinda asked, narrowing her eyes.  “Try me.”

“Pink.”  Galinda raised her eyebrows and opened her mouth.  “Next?”

“You’re wrong, Elphaba Thropp,” Galinda smirked, folding her arms across her chest.  Elphaba narrowed her eyes at her.  “I have two favorite colors.”

“Trick question,” Elphaba snorted.

“Not at all,” Galinda smiled.  “You got one right.”  She leaned in and cupped Elphaba’s cheek in her hand, gently brushing her thumb over the apple of her cheek.  “My other favorite color is the color of your eyes.  That exact shade of green.”  Elphaba blinked at her in stunned silence.  She swallowed hard. “And I feel like despite the fact that your wardrobe consists mostly of black or blue, your favorite color is something you don’t dare to wear.  And if you do, you don’t do it often.”

Elphaba found herself leaning forward out of intrigue.  Her responsive, quirked eyebrow made Galinda smile with delight.

“Purple.”

Elphaba blinked in surprise.

“What?  How did you—”

“Your Ozdust dress.  You wore the purple close to your heart, shrouded in black.  Just enough color for a close enough eye to notice.  Completely undetectable from a distance.  Purple.”  She punctuated the word with a confident nod before cocking her head to the side, eyebrows raised expectantly.  “Am I wrong?”

“No,” Elphaba grumbled, pulling a pillow into her hands and hugging it to her chest.

“Great!  That’s one less thing we have to learn about each other.”  Galinda took the book back from Elphaba and promptly crossed number four off the list.    Elphaba reached forward, gently putting her hand over Galinda’s.

“This doesn’t have to be a question and answer session,” she pointed out.  Galinda’s lower lip popped out just a smidge.

“But I have some good questions,” she pointed out.  “For example:  Number…”  She flipped the page.  “Thirty-five.  What’s your idea of the perfect date?”  Elphaba sighed and curled her fingers around Galinda’s.

“This.  Right here.  Waking up with a beautiful brown-eyed woman in my bed.”

“That’s the after part, Elphie.  What about the before part.  You didn’t seem thrillifyed by the Ozdust last night.”

“I’m not much for crowds.”

“Oh,” Galinda nodded, looking down at the notebook in her lap.  “So what is your perfect date?”

“I’ve never had one before, remember?” Elphaba pointed out.  Galinda smiled softly and leaned in to press a kiss to her lips.

“Close your eyes and think about it,” Galinda whispered.  Elphaba sighed wearily but closed her eyes as Galinda had asked.

“We could find a quiet place for dinner.  One of those quaint old inns with small tables and a fireplace.  We’d walk the long way home, stealing kisses under the moonlight.”

“Elphie, you’re such a romantic,” Galinda whispered, breath ghosting across the shell of Elphaba’s ear.  Elphaba smirked.

“We come home and things happen pretty much the way they happened when we got home last night.”

“Oh, see?  We do have something in common.  Anything that ends with me taking your clothes off is the perfect date.” Elphaba, eyes still closed, turned her face toward Galinda’s and met her lips in a kiss.

“Tell me,” Elphaba murmured between kisses.  “Tell me the Ozdust isn’t your idea of a perfect date.”

“Of course not,” Galinda smiled, pulling back to look into Elphaba’s eyes.  “I like to go out sometimes.  I like to dress up and show off.”  She shrugged a little.  “But the best part about last night was coming home with you.”  She smiled thoughtfully.  “A picnic under the stars.”

“Oh?” Elphaba’s voice lilted softly in quiet surprise.

“Mmm.  Candlelight, of course.”

“Oh, of course,” Elphaba smiled.

“You bring your favorite book, and I lay in your lap while you read to me.”

“Now you’re just trying to turn me on,” Elphaba groaned.  Galinda grinned brightly and reached out to hold Elphaba’s hand.

“I love your voice, Elphie.  Which brings me to number fifty-six,” she pointed out without even glancing at the notebook.  “Things I like in bed.”  She cleared her throat.  “I like the sounds you make when I’m going down on you.”  Elphaba choked out something between a laugh and a gasp.  Galinda didn’t bat an eyelash.  “I like it when you talk to me.  When you let me know how good I make you feel.  And I like it when you’re between my legs moaning like loving me is your favorite thing.”

“It is,” Elphaba pointed out.  Galinda wrapped her arms around Elphaba’s neck.  Galinda’s mouth was on hers again in an instant.  Elphaba’s hands were on her back, gently sliding up and down as the blonde wrapped herself around her.  The notebook crumpled between them, and Elphaba chuckled softly before breaking the kiss.  “Galinda?”

“Hmm?”  She leaned forward for another kiss, but Elphaba reluctantly pulled back.

“Maybe we should finish a conversation for once,” she teased.  Galinda sighed dramatically.  “Not that I don’t enjoy this.  I do.  But we do have a lot to talk about.”

“I know,” Galinda murmured, leaning her forehead against Elphaba’s.  “I just can’t seem to get enough of you, Elphaba Thropp.”  She unwrapped herself from around Elphaba, and Elphaba tossed the covers back, stretching her legs and pulling herself up to stand.  She could feel Galinda’s eyes on her as she crossed the room to grab her robe.  “Where are you going?” Galinda pouted, biting on her bottom lip anxiously.

“Nowhere,” Elphaba promised, gently tossing her braids behind her back and tying the sash of her robe tightly around her middle.  She turned and walked back over to the bed, sitting down beside Galinda and lacing their fingers together gently.   “I’m all yours.”

“Good,” Galinda breathed out, a delighted smile reaching her eyes.  She looked down at her notebook and then tossed it aside.  “I think I’d rather do this slowly.  No need to learn everything all at once.  That was a silly idea, anyway.”

“It wasn’t,” Elphaba assured her.  “It means a lot that you want to know these things.  That you want me to know these things about you.”  Elphaba shifted on the bed, turning to face Galinda, legs folded between them.  Galinda reached for her hands, and for a moment they just stared at one another.

“So,” Galinda asked.  “Who goes first?”

“I’ll start if you want,” Elphaba said quietly, gently squeezing Galinda’s fingers.  “For the first time I want someone to know…me.”  She swallowed hard and watched the smile spread on Galinda’s face.  The blonde mouthed I love you and nodded her head for Elphaba to begin.

They spent most of the morning in easy conversation, learning pieces of each other that shed light on one another and opened space in their hearts to fall just a little bit more in love.  It was a start; a beginning of something better for both of them.

The End
