It wasn't her looking at her reflection.
It was her reflection who looked right back at her.
The more she stared into her reflection, the more the room started to spin around her.
Her head pounded and her jaw tightened quickly while she tried to keep her composure.
Her dark thoughts still lingered her mind like burden-heavy ghosts.
«Shit..» Rosey cursed under her breath.
She was a polite girl as she was always seen smiling and being polite, but something came over her in the past couple of days, and she wasn't the only one to have noticed.
Her friends began asking her what was going on and her boyfriend was doing his best he could to help her, but to no avail.
Her knees got weaker as she kept stumbling her way out of the bathroom with a Momendol in her shaky hands. Desperation and a cup of coffee is what held her together.
Her messy and tangled hair got in her way, getting in the way of her view and just being a general pain in the ass. Again, with all the dizziness, she couldn't get her hand to reach up and fix the strand blocking her vision, so she just left it dangling in front of her.
Faltering, she got to the kitchen and finally drank water, with the Momendol. Rosey thought about swallowing it dry, then she remembered she's in no condition for making decisions, and so she did it the normal way, avoiding to choke.
Each step she took was dragged to the very end and every breath of hers was laboured, heavy. Her face was getting less pale, yet the confusion and fog in her brain was there to stay for a long while and it made that very clear.
«Riggy!» Rosey called out, yet no one answered. Through a faint memory, Rosey remembered him leaving for work with Danno.
Well, now that she thought about it, she could call Danno and ask about Riggy, yet she felt too exhausted to do so anyway.
The one thing she was grateful for in this moment was her feet still being steady and not giving up on her. Sure, her knees might be a trembling mess, but she could still walk.
She didn't remember leaving the knives on the kitchen counter, yet something about their shining blades made her stare at them for a long while, longingly.
Is it fate?
Chapter 3: Prayers
Notes:
song: candleburn — rabbitology
Chapter Text
«Maybe you should pray?» Ruby suggested with an insane amount of uncertainty in her voice.
Those 4 words hit Rosey with a blinding rage. Just that? After she let ALL of her feelings out?
«You're lucky we are on a call.» She growled. Rosey's eyes darkened, her gaze attentive and rageful. She went to everyone for comfort, or just for a slap to get back to reality, and now her friend has the audacity to say to 'just pray'?
Oh no. That's not how it works with Rosey.
«I'm just saying! Maybe it's the devil's curse. Have you been to church?» Ruby kept asking, her words slandering one another.
«I've been to 3 different churches. Where are you getting these questions from? An exorcism guide?»
«Yeah, in fact I'm gonna come to your house and perform one. Watch out!» Ruby replied, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
«Ruby, I'm sorry to break it to you, but we're not in the 1800's anymore. I'm not 'susceptible to the devil's curse's like they said back in the day, y'know?»
«Thanks, Rosey. Really needed that information.»
Rosey would've done anything if it meant relief in this moment.
The silence felt creepily familiar. It was the same silence that filled up the air whenever she looked at the sharp blades from the kitchen drawer. She tried hard not to think about it, but her mind just kept dragging her back.
«Ruby, i-» started Rosey «I've gotta go. I'll rest and I'll hide from the devil's curse.» Rosey joked.
«Stay hidden! You never know. Talk to you later.» Ruby followed along the pun.
Even if Rosey hung up, voices still filled up her voice. They were leading here there again, in the same damned place.
The blades weren't that even pretty anyway, she tried to convince herself everytime. Yet the voices never went quiet. In fact, anytime she tried to fight it, they would just be worse. Echoing through her mind over and over.
