Chapter 1: Chapter 1 - What Has Happened Since?
Chapter Text
You looked yourself over in the mirror, the scar on your head still felt fresh even though it was god knows how many years ago. The world had changed much since that day in Solovetsky. Technology had advanced, terrorists grew stronger, smarter, more bold. One thing that never changes is the people. Either consumed by greed or born in it. Their lust for power, wealth and control knows no bounds.
You remembered the day you were saved from that cliff in Solovetsky. A group of independent soldiers found you bleeding out. Were it not for them, you would have died. The kindness they gave you saved your life compared to the ones who betrayed you, left you for dead after everything you had done to help them.
The soldiers knew exactly who you were. Perseus’ son. But that didn’t stop them. Even after all the harm you had caused, the deaths you had wrought, they still helped you, saved you.
Their boss, Aaron Staple, was once like you, a pawn in someone else's game. A man who had come to realise he was fighting for the wrong side but ended up betrayed when he switched sides. He once helped American forces fight Perseus back in Nam but was betrayed and locked up. He was to face execution via firing squad. No trial, no mercy. Were it not for some rookie who took pity on him, he would’ve died back in Nam.
He explained how he once served Perseus without question, without remorse for his actions, believing Perseus to be a just cause. But the more he killed, the more he felt disgusted with himself. He began sending out encrypted transmissions to the Americans, informing them of supply depots, sniper locations, everything he could without blowing his cover. A mission in the jungle forced him to make a choice. Betray Perseus there and then and save countless innocent lives or maintain his cover and murder who knows how many good people.
It was because of Aaron that you didn’t seek revenge against the CIA and MI6 for what they had done to you. Aaron despised hearing what they had done to you but knew that going off on a war path for revenge wouldn’t have changed anything, past and present. He knew all to well the feeling of wanting revenge against those who had betrayed you. Difference is he did seek out his revenge. He tracked down every single person at that base back in Nam and slaughtered every single one. The only one he left alive was that rookie. He didn’t regret the choice he made, but it didn’t change anything for him. He still had that anger deep inside, clawing away at him every second of the day.
He offered you a choice. You could leave and do as you wished with you life, revenge or not.... or you could stay with his group, help them stop Perseus completely. He knew the choice you made was one made due to you seeing the conflict from both sides, realising the side you fought for wasn’t the one you truly wanted to fight for. You were forced into a bad life but that didn’t make you a bad person. You chose to stay. A saying Aaron had was ‘Though the world will never know what we do for them, at least we will know they can sleep soundly at night without fear.’
You had told Aaron about Adlers saying ‘We get our hands dirty so the world can stay clean’ but Aaron replied saying ‘The world is already dirty, all we can do is try to clean it as best we can.’. You told him about your time with the team, how everything you had once thought was real, felt real. You truly thought they were your friends, how they looked at you with genuine happiness when you would speak with them, drink with them, hang out with them. But when everything was revealed to you, when all the cards were on the table, you weren’t sure what was real or fake. You weren’t even sure if what had happened after everything was revealed was real. How you had felt closer to one of the team members in particular, but was afraid to ask after you were forced to remember. His response was ‘Perhaps it was real, perhaps it was not, if you wish to find out, track them down and speak to them.’
You helped out on many missions, transmissions and interrogations. One thing you stuck to was never crossing the line when it came to interrogating prisoners. You made sure they got healthcare when they were brought in, you made sure they had three meals a day. Every interrogation ended in success without having to use harsh means, something MI6 and the CIA could never do.
It wasn’t until God knows how many years later that Aaron started to show signs of an illness. Turns out, he had cancer. It was a devasting blow to the group. Before his passing, he named you his successor. While most were for this, one was not. Jason. He was too stubborn, quick to temper, hated whenever anyone questioned his decisions. He challenged you to a fight, similar to holmgang. You would both fight one on one till one died or surrendered. His temper and over eagerness to prove himself superior is what led to his quick defeat. You offered him mercy and he took it but left the group shortly after. His body was later found on a mission to an abandoned Gulag in Russia. You made sure he was given a proper burial back in America where his family lived.
After Aarons death, you took command of the group, making sure the fight to stop your father and his cause continued.
You hadn’t expected your fathers death but it didn’t hurt much. Yes he was your father but he was also a cruel, deluded man. After his death, all of Perseus went into hiding. Some emerged, attempting to carry on your fathers mission but ultimately failed.
And now, you have tracked down a small Perseus force in an abandoned hospital in Russia, not far from your old home. Inside would be two things you hadn’t expected to see again.
Chapter 2: Chapter 2 - Level X
Summary:
You head to a hospital with your team and discover who the prisoner is and what happened to them during the three months since their capture.
Chapter Text
“Listen up, once we land, we’re heading inside the hospital. Intel suggests that power is still up and running so we can use the hospitals security system to search the hospital to learn where this prisoner is being held. The security room is a few rooms away from the main entrance. We head there, learn where the prisoner is, get the prisoner and get out. I don’t want any heroics.... Timothy I’m looking at you.” You spoke.
“Come on boss, it’s not my fault john keeps getting himself into trouble.” Tim joked.
“I wouldn’t get myself into trouble if you didn’t keep wanting to blow up shit.” John joked back.
“Alright you two, enough. We do this one by the book. No heroics, no running off to blow shit up. Understood? Good. According to the intel, this small Perseus group has held this prisoner for close to three months. Torturing them and God knows what else. They plan on executing them at the end of the week hence why we’re here now.” You ordered. You checked over your rifle and pistol one last time before you landed.
From the helicopter, you could see the state of the hospital. It looked as though a cool breeze could cause the whole thing to crumble into dust. You hadn’t expected it to look this bad. “Alright, let’s try to avoid using any guns and explosives as possible. I’d hate to be buried under shit tons of rubble again.” You said.
“When are you going to tell us about Solovetsky, Boss?” Sarah asked.
“When you can learn to properly clean your gun without making an innuendo.” You joked.
“Not my fault my gun’s thicker and longer than yours.” Sarah joked.
“That one was awful.” You chuckled.
“I know. My material is running on empty, just like Tims balls.” Sarah joked.
“You’re the one with so much fucking stamina. Like a God damn Olympic runner, she is.” Tim said.
“Thank God for our rooms being sound proof.” John joked, getting a laugh from everyone.
The helicopter landed.
“Alright everyone, let’s get to work.” You ordered. The squad followed you, checking every corner and room with caution. The place was quiet, too quiet. Then again, you had taken a rather loud means of reaching the hospital. “Stay alert.” You signed to the group, getting a nod from everyone.
You soon reached the security room. “Alright John, work your magic. Sarah, Tim, watch the door.” You ordered. John got the computer up and running while Sarah and Tim guarded the door.
“What we got John?” You asked.
“At least 50 soldiers in the building. Seems no one heard us landing outside. Most of them are underground. Seems a secret lab was built underneath this place.” John explained.
“No surprise there.” You muttered. “Any eyes on our prisoner?” You asked.
“The security in that room is tied to another security room down below. According to this, we can enter the lab from an elevator near the staff room just down the hall. We'll need a special keycard though. Level X.” John explained.
“Got one right here.” Sarah called out, tossing the card to you.
“Nice job Sarah.” You replied. “Let’s move.” You ordered. You headed down the hall, silently taking out some soldiers along the way. Once in the elevator, you spoke. “Alright Tim and Sarah will head to the security room with John, I’ll try and find our prisoner.”
“Sure that’s a good idea boss? You did say no heroics.” Tim asked.
“This isn’t heroics, I’m the most quiet out of all of us so I’ll get to the prisoner faster and quieter than anyone else.” You explained. The elevator door opened, revealing a crystal clean hall.
“This place looks brand new.” Sarah muttered.
“No shit.” Tim muttered.
“Let’s move.” You ordered. Tim, Sarah and John headed down one hall, you headed down the other.
You quietly walked down the hall, taking out any soldiers along the way. Your earpiece then activated.
“Hey boss, we got eyes on the prisoner. She’s being held just around the corner from where you are. Head down the hall and take a left. Enter the room and you should find her being held in a chair attached to some medical equipment. She looks pretty banged up.” John said.
“She huh? On my way.” You whispered. No soldiers were between you and the prisoner. you entered the room and spotted the prisoner in the chair. Needles injected into her arms and legs. God knows what was being pumped into her. You looked at her face and froze. It was Helen. You rushed to her side.
“Helen? Helen? Can you hear me?” You said. All you got was a moan. You took off the blindfold, showing a black eye. “Shit.” You muttered. “Hold on Helen, I’m getting you out of here.” You whispered. You removed all the equipment attached to Helen and began heading to the security room. Inside Tim and Sarah were reading a file, horror enveloped their faces.
“Boss.” Sarah said, surprised you were there.
John and Tims turned. John was downloading something from the computer. Tim tried to hide the file behind his back.
“What’s in the file Tim?” You asked. Tim looked worried but he handed you the file, Sarah taking Helen from your arms. You looked at the file and read the front. ‘MKULTRA’. You opened the file and began reading. They subjected Helen to MKULTRA but according to the file, they failed. They couldn’t control her. Either Helen is one tough cookie or these idiots botched up the procedure. You crushed the file in your hands.
“Sir, there’s more.” John said.
“What is it?” You asked. John stepped aside to show you some footage. These bastards didn’t just torture Park and put her through MKULTRA, they fucking raped her. Passed her around like a football on the playground.
“Take Park... and leave.” You whispered.
“Boss, we're not leaving you here alone.” Sarah said.
“I... am giving you and order. Take Park and leave. Now.” You hissed. The team did as you ordered. They took Helen and left via the elevator. No one was leaving this place alive. You tore through the lab, slaughtering any soldier dumb enough to being in your way. The file mentioned a scientist. You didn’t care about the name. They were going to die. Soon you found yourself in what looked to be a generator room. There was the scientist, quivering in fear in the corner.
You grabbed them by the throat and took them up the stairs above one of the generators. You lifted the scientist up and threw them down into the gears. You watched and listened as the scientist was torn to shreds, screaming and begging for mercy. The squelching of flesh and blood being ripped apart, the sound of bones crunching under the pressure. You headed so a nearby kitchen and turned on the gas stoves, letting gas flow throughout the lab. You left some C-4 on the stove and left. You took the elevator back up. Once you were outside, you headed to the helicopter and walked inside. Once the helicopter took off and got some distance, you pulled the trigger on the detonator and watched as the hospital exploded to pieces. The squad watched you as you took a seat next to Park, watching over her closely.
“You ok, Boss?” Tim asked.
“I’m fine... Park however... Is anything but.” You replied. “Call Jenson, have him prepare the infirmary.” You ordered.
"You know her Boss?" Sarah asked.
You nodded. "She was one of the people who helped brainwash me all those years ago." The squad looked horrified at your words. They knew you had a hard life over 15 years ago but they never knew it was like that.
Chapter 3: Chapter 3 - She Awakens
Summary:
you're back at base, Park wakes up.
Chapter Text
Park laid fast asleep in the infirmary, Jenson checking her vitals. You watched from the window as he worked. How the hell did Park end up there? Why hadn’t anyone saved her? Surely someone at MI6 knew about her being there? John mentioned that the footage showed that Park was unconscious every time the Perseus group raped her. Still didn’t change the fact that it happened. You decided to head outside and check on the others. You left through the door to see almost 50 people training, relaxing, whatever else they could think of.
“Hey boss, you want to join us for some cards?” Tim called.
“Sure. Why not? Just so long as I’m not betting my clothes again.” You chuckled.
“Hey that was Sarahs idea. It's your fault for going along with it.” John said.
“And yet, she some how managed to win every hand.” You said.
“Not my fault you all suck at poker.” Sarah said with a grin.
“So what’s the stakes?” You asked.
“Johns betting his magnum, Sarahs betting her .50 Cal rifle, I’m betting my Shotgun.” Tim said.
“I’m not betting my 1911.” You said.
“How about if we win, you tell us about what happened at Solovetsky?” Sarah said.
“You planned this, didn’t you?” You asked.
“No, but I’m definitely taking advantage.” Sarah said with a grin.
“You’re on.” You said.
Halfway through your third game, a gunshot rang out from inside the main building, followed by Jenson groaning. You rushed inside to find Jenson outside the infirmary with blood coming from his leg.
“Get the medical kit.” You ordered. Sarah ran off to get it. “What happened?” You asked Jenson.
“She woke up, panicked. When I tried to explain the situation, she grabbed my gun and shot me in the leg.” Jenson explained.
“How many bullets were in it?” You asked.
“Just the one in the chamber.” Jenson said.
“Everyone stay out here. I’ll deal with this.” You ordered. You slowly entered the room to see Park in the corner, the gun aimed at you. You raised your hands in surrender.
“Easy. I’m not going to hurt you. Can I sit here?” You asked, pointing to the chair next to you. Park nodded, the gun still aimed at your head. “How are you feeling?”
“My head hurts, I don’t know where I am or how I got here.” Park was panicking.
“Do you remember me?” You asked. Park shook her head, the gun shaking as well.
“Easy. You’re name is Helen Park. An agent of MI6. My name is Bell, we knew each other years ago. I was recruited by Russell Adler to help stop a terrorist named Perseus. We worked together on it. After Perseus was stopped, we all went our separate ways. I continued hunting Perseus groups after his defeat. You were captured by one of said groups. We managed to rescue you and brought you to our base.” You explained. Not the entire truth though.
“How was I captured?” She asked.
“I was hoping you would know.” You replied.
“A-all I remember is bright lights, needles, some black and yellow liquid and someone repeating words over and over.” Park was panicking. You quickly moved to her side and placed your hands on her shoulders.
“It’s alright. You're safe now. We’re going to help you. I need you to lay back down ok? Jenson is our best doctor here, he will make sure you are in good health.” You said softly. Park nodded and laid back down. You signalled for Jenson to re-enter the room, his leg bandaged.
You whispered into his ear. “You going to be ok?”
“Yeah, I’ll be fine.” Jenson replied.
"Good. keep me updated." You left the room and headed outside.
“Sean, step forward.” You called out. Sean appeared before you. A young man who time and again, has proven himself to be an effective leader and that cares about those he leads. “I’m going away for a bit, you’re in charge until I return.”
Everyone saluted and said “Sir, yes sir.”
John, Tim and Sarah stopped you.
“Where you going boss?” John asked.
“The one place I was hoping to avoid.” You muttered.
“And that is?” Sarah asked.
“CIA HQ.” You answered.
Chapter 4: Chapter 4 - The Lion's Den
Summary:
You head to CIA HQ, looking for help.
Chapter Text
You sat in a van, watching as people walked down the street. You were parked across from the CIA HQ and now, you were about to enter the lion's den. You silently prayed that your idiotic plan would work. You got out the van, walked across the road and entered the building. You walked through the metal detector, catching the attention of the guards.
“Excuse me sir, can you please empty your pockets?” The guard asked, his hand on his holstered pistol.
You turned and looked at him. “Of course, my apologies.” You ripped off your coat to reveal a block of C4 strapped to your chest. “LISTEN UP. I WANT YOU TO BRING 5 PEOPLE THAT I NEED TO SPEAK WITH. DO THAT, AND I SHALL SURRENDER WILLINGLY. DON’T AND THIS PLACE GOES UP IN A BEAUTIFUL DISPLAY OF FIREWORKS.” You yelled.
“And who exactly do you need to speak with?” The guard demanded, his pistol now aimed at you.
“Russell Adler, Lawrence Sims, Frank Woods, Alex Mason and Jason Hudson.” You replied.
“Bell?” A man called out. It was Woods.
“Woods. Been a while.” You said.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Woods asked.
“Oh, this was just to get what I needed. You're here so...” You ripped off the ‘block’ and chucked it on to the floor. “It’s fake.” You spoke.
Before the guards could do anything, Woods told them to stand down.
“What happened to your legs?” You asked.
“Got shot by a guy named Raul Menedez. The better question is how are you here? Adler said you were dead.” Woods asked.
“Adler failed at trying to kill me. I’m here because I need the old teams help.” You answered
“Hold on, Adler tried to kill you? Why?” Woods asked.
“I think we should take this somewhere more private.” You said.
“Follow me, we can use an old office just down the hall.” Woods said, wheeling down the hall.
Once inside, Woods closed the curtains. “So why did Adler try to kill you?”
“Because after Solovetsky, I was a loose end. Since MKULTRA had run its course and Adler got what he needed from me, I was no longer safe to keep around.” You answered.
“MKULTRA?” Woods asked.
“Some brainwashing program of the CIA.” You explained. Woods clenched his fists.
“The CIA brainwashed you? Why?” Woods asked.
“I was one of Perseus’ people. A part of his inner circle. Adler couldn’t get any information from me through torture, so he resorted to wiping my mind and reprograming me.” You said.
“Shit. Sorry about that kid. Had me and Mason known, we would’ve done something.” Woods muttered
“You and Mason didn’t know?” You asked.
Woods shook his head. “The same thing happened to Mason years back. He was brainwashed to assassinate President Kennedy then his orders were changed to kill the three guys behind it. Even after years of therapy, it still affected him.” Woods explained.
“Where is he now?” You asked.
“Dead. Same with Hudson.” Woods answered.
“And Adler and Sims?” You asked.
“Adler is coming back soon, and Sims left the CIA to join the U.S army.” Woods answered.
“I need you to call them here. It's important.” You said.
“What’s going on?” Woods asked.
“I’ll explain once everyone is here.” You said.
[Several hours later]
Woods had given Sims a call and Adler wasn’t far from the CIA. Sims arrived first, surprised to see you.
“Bell... How the hell are you? Adler told me he killed you.” Sims said. He seemed happy to see you alive.
“I’ve been better. Adler missed by a few millimetres.” You said, showing your scar.
“Shit. So what’s the problem?” Sims asked.
“We need to wait for Adler first.” You said.
As if on que, Adler entered the room, immediately spotting you.
“Bell.” He said.
“Adler.” You replied.
Adler slowly moved his hand towards his pistol which you quickly spotted. You pulled out your pistol and aimed at his head. “Don’t.” You said, staring him down.
“You come back for revenge Bell? Come to settle the score?” Adler asked.
“As much as I would love to give you a matching scar, we have bigger things to worry about.” You pulled a file out of your jacket and tossed it on to the table. You holstered your pistol. Adler picked up the file and began reading.
“What the fuck is this?” Adler demanded.
“Parks file on her MKULTRA procedure.” You replied.
“You fucking brainwashed her?” Alder hissed.
“No I didn’t. Perseus remnants did.” You added.
“Perseus is dead.” Adler hissed.
“Every after all these years, you still don’t get it. Perseus isn’t a person, it’s a cause, an ideal. My group have been hunting down the last of them for years now. A recent mission led us to a hospital where they held Park and put her through MKULTRA. Since you are the professional on the matter, I came here to get your help.” You explained.
“Why the fuck should we help you?” Adler demanded.
“I’ll give you three reasons. 1.) You owe me after all the shit you pulled. 2.) You are the cause of all this. 3.) You’re not helping me, you’re helping Park.” You said.
“I’m already onboard.” Woods said.
“Same here.” Sims added.
“Adler?” You asked.
Adler stood there in silence before finally speaking. “Fine. For Park.” You nodded.
You led them to your van, got inside (And carefully placing Woods wheelchair in the back) and drove off, heading back to your base.
Chapter 5: Chapter 5 - A Small Reunion
Chapter Text
After an hour drive and a few hours aboard a plane then another hour drive, you were finally back at base. You were leading the guys to the infirmary when Adler opened his mouth.
“Bet the CIA would love to know about this place.” Adler muttered. He was trying to get a rise, one you would respond to.
“The CIA already knows about this base, along with the president of the U.S. why do you think you were pulled off the Perseus hunt years ago.” You responded with a smirk, earning a scowl from Adler.
“That was you?” Adler hissed.
“Partly. Mostly Aaron making arrangements with the president at the time.” You replied. Seeing Adler pissed off was a small luxury for you. “Now enough bickering, follow me.”
You lead them to the infirmary, where Park was currently sleeping. You met with Jenson.
“How’s she doing?” You asked.
“So far, she’s been sleeping, only waking for a few minutes to eat then falling back asleep. I’ve been monitoring her brainwave activity as well as performing several kinds of scans. She seems to be fine but the procedure they put her through remains in her system. Most likely she is under MKULTRA’s effects but not to the point of no return.” Jenson explained.
“Hopefully the extra help will make things easier.” You said, turning to the others.
“I don’t even know the first thing about this.” Woods said.
“That’s where me and Adler come in.” Sims said.
“Any reports from the procedure?” Adler asked.
“Several. Follow me.” Jenson said, leaving you with Woods.
“Still can’t believe the CIA allowed them to go through with this bullshit.” Woods groaned.
“I don’t think even the president knew.” You muttered.
“How so?” Woods asked.
“Several years back, Aaron and I went to a meeting with Reagan. I asked several questions about MKULTRA and its use and Reagan believed it hadn’t been used after it was exposed. I made out that it was just some hypothetical bullshit but... he seemed genuinely confused.” You explained.
“I never even knew it existed. I was so busy with Mason on missions that I had no time to read or watch the news and get the latest gossip from the CIA. Back when the hunt for Perseus started during the cold war, the president ordered to give our team anything we needed, seems Adler took that to the extreme.” Woods said.
“Any idea how things went down after I was brought in? I’m still drawing a blank on the details.” You asked.
“Well after we found the guy on the airstrip, who I now know to be you, Mason and I were taken back to HQ. We had heard that Park was brought in later to help with the prisoners interrogation. But going by what you've told me, it turns out she was brought in for this. Later we were informed that the prisoner had been dealt with and that a new member was joining the team, someone that defected from the KGB, which turned out to be you. After that, you know the rest.” Woods explained.
“It’s not like I had much choice in joining my fathers army either.” You muttered.
“Perseus was your dad?” Woods asked, his eyes wide with shock.
“Yep. Good old dad. My childhood was a blast. Early beatings, late night runs, hands on survival training in the middle of a frozen fucking wasteland.” You hissed.
“Then why didn’t you talk to Adler when he brought you in?” Woods asked.
“That was beaten and drugged out of me over the years. Don’t talk, Don’t trust anyone, Don’t betray the cause. That mantra repeated over and over in my head for years. Seems MKULTRA had some benefit.” You groaned.
“Fucking hell. I’m surprised you didn’t betray us at Solovetsky.” Woods said.
“I had hoped to be a free man after helping stop my father but to Adler, I was a loose end. I found out later that Hudson also had a hand in my brainwashing, along with a man named Emerson Black. Apparently that guy got rid of most of the evidence on my procedure and kept Reagan from finding out that the CIA had broken the law by using an old project of theirs. The countless people the CIA kidnapped for that fucking thing.” You said.
“So why not expose them?” Woods asked.
“How would I do that woods? I have barely any evidence to go against them. All I have is my file and even if I did have more evidence, the CIA would no doubt just hunt me down and bury me to prevent their little mask from falling off.” You said. You turned to the room Park was in to see her stirring awake. “I’m gonna go speak with Park. See if there’s anything she can tell me.”
“I’ll help Adler and Sims where I can.” Woods said, wheeling himself down the hall.
Chapter 6: Chapter 6 - Some New Revelations
Summary:
A small chat with Park and some small secrets of Adlers gets revealed to Woods and Sims.
Chapter Text
You entered the room, Park was sitting herself up.
“Morning, how’re you feeling?” You asked.
“Still weird. I tried remembering who you were, you seem so familiar yet... foreign to me.” Park said.
“I can answer any questions you have.” You said.
“How did we meet?” Park asked. Shit... you weren’t expecting that right out the gate.
“We met in Berlin. We were brought together to track down a terrorist group called Perseus and the first time you and I met was at the safehouse we were using.” You said. Not a lie, but not entirely the truth.
“I thought Perseus was A terrorist?” Park wondered.
“It’s a bit complicated. The man took the name Perseus however it was also the name of his cause, the name represented his ideals.” You explained.
“You mentioned Russell Adler, how did you two meet?” Park asked.
“We served together in Vietnam. That was where we first encountered Perseus.” You said.
“You don’t look old enough to have served in Nam.” Park said.
“Thank you. I do like to take care of myself.” You said with a smile.
Park tilted her head then asked. “How did you get that scar?”
“I... uh....” You hadn’t expected that question.
“I’m sorry if it’s personal.” Park said.
“It’s just... I was betrayed by someone I thought I could trust. This scar is a reminder of who that person truly is inside.” You said.
“Do you have any idea what happened to me?” Park asked.
“There’s been some theories, nothing concrete yet but we have some people who may know what is wrong with you brought in to help.” You said.
“Do I know them?” Park asked.
“One of them is Russell Adler. The other two you met during out time in Berlin.” You answered.
“So... what are the theories about what’s wrong with me?” Park asked.
“The main one is... we think the people who had you captive used an experimental truth serum on you. We believe that the reason behind your missing memories is due to the serum leaving some remnants of the drug in your brain.” You said.
“But... what could they have possibly wanted from me?” Park asked.
“You do work for MI6. Kind of answers itself.” You said.
You watched as Park looked to the side, as though there was something there.
“What you looking at?” You asked.
“A...a tv. Showing some old footage by the looks of it.” Park explained.
Your eyes widened. “Try to get some more sleep. It will help.”
Park nodded then laid down and closed her eyes. You left the room and headed to Adler and the others.
You enter the room and speak. “Parks brain is trying to fight off the effects of MKULTRA.”
“How do you know?” Sims asked.
“Because she’s seeing a tv playing old footage. Seems the people who conducted the procedure didn’t change the part involving the Vietnam war.” You explained.
“That’s a good thing right? Her mind fights off the brainwashing and she returns to normal.” Woods wondered.
“Not entirely. Unless she knows that the things she is seeing is part of the brainwashing, her mind won’t be able to free itself, none of it will make sense.” You said.
“You seem to know a lot about MKULTRA. Care to share anything?” Adler asked.
“I had a lot of time for reading, unlike you who continued to use MKULTRA.” You said.
Adlers expression turned to a scowl.
“You mean you weren’t his only subject?” Sims asked.
“William Calderon, or case as you called him. Adler got lucky, a man shows up, wanting to change sides. The man worked of Pantheon, Adler didn’t trust him, as always. So he decided to get what information he could then brainwashed the poor bastard. Guy was lucky to survive sinking to the bottom of the ocean.” You explained.
Sims looked furious. “It would seem you’re the one who’s been hiding more secrets.” You said to Adler.
Woods was also furious. “So you not only did it to Bell, but to Case? That poor kid.” Woods said.
“You said he was lucky to survive, where is he?” Sims asked.
“Hidden. He wanted to live his life without anyone knowing him so after several ‘alterations’ he now lives off the grid. Not even the CIA will be able to find him.” You explained.
“Thin fucking ice.” Woods hissed to Adler.
“I did what had to be done. Neither he nor Bell could or can be trusted.” Adler argued.
“And you can? The man who experiments on people? The man who kills then claims it’s only for the greater good just so he has a clear conscience? The man who keeps countless secrets from the man he works for? Imagine how the president would react if he found out about you using MKULTRA just once?” You asked.
Adler was furious. “Fuck you. I don’t have to put up with this.” Adler went to leave, but you placed a hand on his shoulder then squeezed. Adler slowly moved to the ground in pain.
“You will stay until Park is better. You not only owe Park, you owe me, Case and countless others. Especially after the shit you pulled in verdansk.” You hissed.
“Verdansk? Adler was brainwashed by Stitch back then.” Woods argued.
“Not when he blew the place to hell. Adler had broken free. He couldn’t find Stitches sleeper agents so he blew the place to hell, many innocents died that day. Once the place a pile of rubble, Adlers mind slipped. Just long enough for Stitches programming to take ahold of him again.” You explained. You released Adlers shoulder. “You act as though your some saviour that makes the tough choices, but you’re nothing but a pathetic man who just wants to prove himself superior. You did it with Perseus, with Stitch, with me. You think you’re the best of the best, the alpha, the apex. But at the end of the day, you are nothing but a child throwing a tantrum when things don’t go his way and people get hurt in the process.”
Adler stood then left the room. You quickly pulled out your radio. “Jenson, make sure two people are guarding Parks room at all times. No one enters without my say so.”
“On it boss.” Jenson answered.
“You really think Adler would try something against Park?” Woods asked.
“At this point, It wouldn’t surprise me. Could be me just being paranoid but... better to be safe than sorry.” You said.
