Chapter Text

Peter gasped, sucking in breaths bent over on top of the old pizza place. He was supposed to be here to meet Daredevil 20 minutes ago but got sidetracked by an attempted mugging and had to book it from Queens to Hell’s Kitchen, hence him being out of breath.

After catching his breath he stood up only to see a completely empty roof.

“Busted my ass for nothing I guess” he muttered, disappointed. He’d been really excited to meet the guy Wade hadn't shut up about for the past 3 weeks.

“I wouldn't be so sure about that,” Daredevil said. Well- more like grunted, as he came out from the shadows at the corner of the roof.

“Oh shit- I didn’t see you there Mr. Devil sir” Peter said and stood up to introduce himself.

“I’m Spider-Man, you probably know that though. I've been really excited to meet you since you’re super cool and Wade has been hounding me forever and-” Peter rambled before he was cut off.

“How old are you Spiderman?” Daredevil had his head tilted to the side just a little bit in a way that kind of reminded Peter of a dog.

“It’s actually Spider-Man not Spiderman,” said Peter. People always forget the hyphen and it's starting to get on his nerves.

“That what I said, I dont-” Daredevil started.

“No you didn't say the hyphen, I can tell” insisted Peter.

“Regardless, how old are you, you sound like you haven't even graduated high school" Daredevil said, rounding back to the question Peter was actively trying to avoid.

“I absolutely have graduated highschool!” He wasn't even lying he had graduated. A year ago at that, besides he was an adult and would appreciate being treated like one.

“Anyways, me and Wade have been working on a drug bust for a few weeks now, but the gang I was tracking has moved into Hell's Kitchen and I wanted to ask permission before just barging into your territory. Vigilante etiquette, you know?”

If there was one thing he had learned in his almost 5 years of crime fighting, it would be that vigilantes are super territorial. Not to say that he wasn't, if anything happened in Queens then he wanted to solve it or at least be kept in the loop.

It’s different for superheroes like the Avengers, vigilantes operate in smaller more tight knit circles and don't take kindly to their domains being messed with.

“I would hope that by ‘Wade’ you don't mean Deadpool, but that feels like wishful thinking at this point” Daredevil sighed.

A crash came from the other side of the roof and all of a sudden the door to the roof came flying off and a flash of red and black barreled into Daredevil’s side, almost throwing him off the roof.

“DOUBLE D, I MISSED YOU!” Deadpool practically screeched, causing both other vigilantes to cover their ears.

“My bad, I forgot about my sensory sensitive friends” Deadpool said, in what Peter guessed was meant to be a stage whisper but really sounded more like if someone was trying to whisper yell.

“Spider-Man please tell me you haven't been working with Deadpool. The well-known and greatly feared mercenary. Please tell me you haven't been working with this cold-blooded killer who absolutely shouldn't be around children under any circumstance.” Daredevil said in what Peter recognized as “disappointed dad voice”.

“First of all, I'm not a child. I pay taxes and rent just like everyone else. Second of all, Deadpool hasn't killed anyone in a full year.” Peter said.

He met Deadpool shortly after starting college. Going to Columbia meant that he hit some different joints for food since he wasn't technically based in Queens anymore and he actually met Deadpool at some random Mexican place in Manhattan. They didn't really hit it off at first, what with the no kill policy hero and the only kill policy mercenary. Still they ate together pretty often and eventually got closer.

After a rough fight Peter gave Wade an ultimatum, stop killing or leave New York. Deadpool agreed (if only because he would miss Peter and was kind of scared of his spider powers) and they had been really close ever since.

“Wade “Merc with a mouth” Wilson hasn't killed in a year.” Daredevil said incredulously.

“Yup, one year murder sober.” Deadpool cheerfully said. He looked a little too proud of himself for Daredevil's taste.

“Can we please move on to the topic at hand. Drug bust in Hell’s Kitchen, yes or no daredevil?” Peter asserted.

He had changed tone, he wanted to be casual about this meeting but there was a real danger if this drug were to be put on the market. It was rumored to be a mini super soldier serum (mini-serum?) that only lasted for a few hours. The last thing he needed right now was a bunch of super junkies running around New York. Even more than that he didn't need the avengers to catch wind of this, at least not yet.

He was in a unique position since he wasn't fully a hero or a vigilante and he worked with both parties often. If the Avengers started to work on this mini-serum he would end up the liaison between them and every vigilante in New York that wanted in. As much help as Clint liked to say he was, he was on the farm too often to mediate and Peter didn't want to have to explain to the team that “No, you can't just burst into any fight since you don't know who has been casing the area and who already has a plan that you might ruin”.

“Fine, but I want to be there for the bust and I want all of the information you have about them so far.” Daredevil conceded.

“I knew you’d come around when Baby Boy pulled out his scary voice” Deadpool exclaimed

“[Even the big bad Deadpool does what he says when he says it like that!]” Deadpool whispered with his hand cupped around his mouth like a middle school girl talking about her crush.

“Who are you talking to 'Pool'”? Peter asked, he assumed it was the boxes Deadpool was talking about the other day but he was never really sure with Wade.

“Nobody, don't you worry your pretty little spider head about it." [*wink*] Deadpool assured

“Let's get going before they decide to move again” Daredevil grunted, he does a lot more grunting than anyone Peter had ever met but maybe it just comes with the whole “devil” thing.

The end

Chapter 2: This was supposed to be easy! >:(

Summary:

Team Red had an uneventful drug bust. Or they would have. If not for the "interruption".

Chapter Text

The three vigilantes landed on the warehouse pausing to make a plan. Peter had done plenty of drug busts but, he knew this one was a little different. The mini-serum could be dangerous, especially since he hadn't gotten a sample to take to his (read: The University's) lab and analyze it.

“We need to be careful how we handle this, it's not just any drug, it's a knock off of super soldier serum and we don't know much about it” Peter whispered.

“Spidey’s right, we really don't want that getting out. More than that we don't want the Big Dogs to catch wind of it” Deadpool added.

Deadpool hadn't worked with the Avengers often but with how much Spider-Man complained about them he definitely wanted to avoid any unwanted “help”.

Daredevil looked between the two of them. “It sounds like there are only 20 people in there so we shouldn't have much of an issue. I say we take out whoever's in there and grab any serum we can find”

“Take this” Peter handed Daredevil a small airpod looking device, “ its a comm, so we can all talk once we get inside”

“No thanks, i'll be able to hear you both just fine” Daredevil assured.

Interesting, Peter had guessed that Daredevil had some enhanced sense but to be able to hear a whisper across a warehouse was another level. Peter had enhanced hearing but not nearly to that extent.

They all split up to cover the exits. Peter sat just inside one of the windows at the top and crawled onto one of the rafters so he could make a plan. He spotted the truck he had been following a few days ago.

“I’m pretty sure that truck has the shipments of the mini-serum so be careful and don't let it leave” Peter said.

With that all three of them got ready to start their attack. All of a sudden Daredevil tensed and whipped his head to the far end of the warehouse by the front entrance.

“Something big is about to come through that door”.

Peter turned toward the door and he heard what had come to be his least favorite sound on patrol.

Arc reactors.

“Crap, guys its-” Peter started before an explosion sounded and the doors to the warehouse flew off.

This had happened before, a few months ago he had been about to stop a bank robbery when Mr. Stark and Captain Rodgers had burst through the doors. They messed up his whole plan and the robber ended up injured. Not just that but the doors to the bank had to be repaired.

When he tried to-kindly-tell them to not do that, Mr. Stark brushed him off and said he saw where the spider suit was and thought the quote, “spiderbaby”, could use some help. It pissed him off to no end and he ended up removing the tracker from his suit and yet the Avengers still managed to mess up his plans.

All the whole gang turned to look at the entrance and began to scatter as soon as they saw Iron man and Captain America. This was an issue for Peter since in their scattering one of them got in the truck and was trying to escape with it.

“The truck!” He barked.

Peter didn't really care if Mr. Stark knew he was here, though it did mean he was going to get a lecture on the "dangers of gangs” later. He had to get to that truck.

The other two vigilantes made a break for the truck. Peter flung a web out at its tires and Deadpool pulled the driver out from the window. The truck slowed to the stop and Daredevil opened the back to reveal what looked like 20 or so crates. All of them were filled with vials of liquid that Peter guessed were filled with mini-serum.

“Underoos, long time no see. What's so special about the truck?” Mr. Stark said.

He had just finished blasting the rest of the gang members. They were all in a pile either unconscious or definitely not getting up anytime soon.

“Please don't call me that, and nothing you need to worry about” Peter sighed.

He really didn’t want to have to deal with the Avengers on this issue but it was looking like he wasn't going to have much of a choice. At least he would get to analyze it in Mr. Starks lab, for how annoying the man was Peter couldn't deny how great his lab was.

Steve turned toward Tony with a serious expression.

“Sounds like definitely something we need to worry about. If our sources were correct this drug was based on the Super Soldier Serum, and if so we need to figure out who was making it and stop them.”

He had a whole complex about the serum and honestly Peter didn't really care how he felt about the whole thing. Unfortunately, this confirmed that the Avengers already knew about it. He looked around to find Daredevil so he could do a quick debrief before dealing with the superheroes but he was nowhere to be found.

Deadpool strolled over and gave Peter a pitying look.

“Good luck with our capitalist overlords but, there is a box of leftover chimichangas calling my name. Catch you later baby boy!” Deadpool chirped as walked away.

Mr. Stark looked shocked as Deadpool left. Peter assumed this meant he was not only going to get a lecture on gang violence but also on associating with criminals. He sighed and dragged a hand down his face. With one more deep breath he turned fully toward the heroes and braced for the lecture he was about to get.

The end

Notes:

I know there are a lot of fics that focus on Tony and Peters relationship but i feel like he would have grown out of his Hero worship by the time he is an adult and i expect all of Tony's overprotective father behavior would get old quick.

Anyways

Hope you enjoyed and please leave any critique or comments you have!

Chapter 3: Sorry to burst your bubble!

Chapter Text

Mr. Stark was completely silent the whole drive back to the tower. He had Happy come pick them up since Steve didn't have an easy way back without walking. Peter sat in the back seat and considered his options.

On one hand he could lie and say this was the first time he had talked to Deadpool and chalk up his friendly banter to Deadpool being weird. Peter was inclined to go with this choice since Mr. Stark definitely wouldn't approve of their friendship.

On the other hand, he could confess to being friends with Deadpool. The issue with this was that if he did it was a one way track to telling Mr. Stark actually had a whole network of vigilantes he worked with as well as some non-vigilantes. *cough* The Punisher *cough*.

His choice was taken from him as soon as they got in the elevator.

“I asked Friday why you were talking to Deadpool. You wanna know what she said”.

He didn’t, he really didn't. Despite this he figured he should make some kind of last second attempt at saving this situation.

“Well i mean you cant always believe what the news says and me and him aren't really super close-” Peter stammered. This was bad, he knew there were hundreds of news articles about him and Deadpool and even more about him and the other new york crimefighters.

“Friday told me that you and him patrol together multiple times a week and are often seen eating dinner together. I have told you a hundred times not to talk to or even breathe near this guy, and what do you do? Become best buds apparently.”

Peter had no idea what to say. On one hand Tony was right, he had been told not to work with deadpool. On the other hand Peter is an adult and doesn't have to listen to anyone, much less Tony Stark.

“Mr. Stark, with all due respect you don’t control who I do and don't work with. I'm an adult and more than that, I'm not on your payroll. I really appreciate you looking out for me, especially when I started out, but you can't expect me to abide by your rules.”

Tony looked like a child learning Santa’s not real.

It’s not like this was new information to him, they had talked about this before. Actually a lot, this was probably the third time this month he had to remind Tony that he was not, in fact, in charge of him.

The elevator dinged and opened to the common room where two heads turned their way. Bucky looked confused at Peter's presence which made sense because Peter didn't really frequent the tower for anything other than the occasional team dinner or the weekly training sessions. Clint on the other hand perked up when he saw Peter.

“Pete! I haven't seen you in forever, how have you been man-” Clint started, but stopped when he saw Tony burring holes into the back of Peter's head.

Tony stormed off into the kitchen with Steve hot on his heels trying to calm him down. Of course, Steve went to Bucky so Peter and Clint were left in the common room.

Clint looked at Peter with what could only be pity.

“Jesus Pete, what was it this time?”

“Oh you know, just my job I do everyday. My dangerous job that does, and has in the past, included drugs and gangs. To his horror, I have also been protecting New York with other people. Who I work with…and have worked with… for a year.”

Peter stops his rant for a breath. It’s not like this is new but he thought at some point Tony would just give up and move on.

Just then Tony walked back into the common room.

“You know I care about you Peter,” he said. “I just dont want to see you hurt and im not sure your ready for-”

Peter cut him off with a hand.

“Mr. Stark, I know you care, despite that I need you to lay off. I’ve been doing this for almost 5 years and I deal with things more dangerous than gangs daily. Me working with Deadpool also isn't new.”

Tony interrupted him " Clearly it's not new if the news has anything to say about it. Peter you’re JUST a kid, I just want you to have a good support system and I can't give you that if you don't TELL me things.

He started yelling at Peter. “YOU’VE BEEN KEEP SECRETS AND DONT LISTEN ANYMORE AND-”

“TONY I AM NOT YOUR SON.”

The words hung heavy in the air.

Everyone was quiet. It’s not like Peter hadn’t talked about their relationship before but he had never said it like that.

Not to Tony.
