Some fun items that exist in the Archives AU universe! (+ some bonus lore :3)

Updating every other week or so

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Chapter Text

Item: Golden compass with elaborate detailing in black paint. Initials “N.K.” carved into the lid.

Viability as Subject: Low

Viability as Agent: High

Viability as Catalyst: High

Effect(s): When held, it directs the user to their “greatest desire”. May cause users to grow older at a rapid pace— specific long-term effects unknown, but likely negative.

Danger Level: 3.8

Notes:

  • Effects may vary according to user; testing underway.
  • Donated by Oliver Teach, who appeared to be a man in his late 50’s, but shares his name with a 23-year-old young adult who was reported missing a few hours after the donation.

Item Code: R-22212101

Chapter 2: Sled

Chapter Text

Item: A radical swagalicious epicsauce Really Cool Sled. The body is red, with gold detailing and steam-powered mechanisms providing a variety of functions.

Viability as Subject: High

Viability as Agent: High

Viability as Catalyst: High

Effect(s): Upon looking at it, the viewer is filled with positive comments about the sled.

Danger Level: 4.2

Notes:

  • There are a variety of contraptions protruding from the main sled in various places, but this does not hinder it on the slopes. (Yes, we went sledding with a cursed object.)
  • A previous owner of it, one Troy Lougferd, reportedly beat a bystander almost to death with the sled after they heard him stutter. Mr Lougferd was arrested immediately afterward, and was found to have no history of violence and no mental conditions that could have triggered such anger.

Chapter 3: Bag of Gems

Summary:

THIS ONE HAS CHARACTER DEATH . BE WARNED

Chapter Text

Item: Leather bag of gems, which have a sickly yellow glow to them. The bag itself is very damaged, and looks to have existed for thousands of years.

Viability as Subject: Medium

Viability as Agent: High

Viability as Catalyst: Low

Effect(s): None but the glow observed after several rounds of testing. More elaborate tests will be performed starting in two weeks.

Danger Level: 2.3

Notes:

  • Type of crystal currently unknown; possibly quartz.
  • Donated by Peter Sqloint, who reported hearing the voice of an “angel of retribution” commanding him to set it free. Mr Sqloint was found dead four days after donating the gems, having bled out from eye-shaped lacerations covering his body.

See Also: Eyes (carved), Eyes (non-human), Angels (fallen), Imprisoned Entities, Quartz (yellow), Leather Bags, Antiques, Statement of Peter Sqloint

Item Code: A-01182203

Chapter 4: Dice

Chapter Text

Item: A set of 7 dice— the average Dungeons and Dragons lineup. Made of plastic; mainly yellow with detailing in purple. The 2 symbol looks to be upside-down, which was likely a misprint.

Viability as Subject: Low

Viability as Agent: Medium

Viability as Catalyst: High

Effect(s): If rolled, something happens. The higher the number, the “better” the event is for the user. The lower the number, the “worse” the event is.

Danger Level: 4.5

Notes:

  • “Null” means that no value has been entered where there should be one. In the case of this statement giver, it appears that no last name was given. Additionally, the first name seems to be a nickname, and has been marked as such.
  • Donated by “W.D.” [Null], who appeared to have recently been in some sort of explosion.

See Also: Dice (role-playing), Dice (fate), Inter-Dimensional Allusion (The Magnus Protocol), Inter-Dimentional Allusion (JRWI Merch), Statement of “W.D.” [Null]

Item Code: W-01062404

Chapter 5: Conch Shell

Chapter Text

Item: Conch shell, mostly cream-colored with faint tan and pink stripes. In pristine condition.

Viability as Subject: Low

Viability as Agent: High

Viability as Catalyst: Medium

Effect(s): When held up to the ear, one can hear the “ocean” sounds typical of doing so with a seashell. Prolonged listening (2-4 minutes) results in the sound transitioning to nonsense whispers.

Danger Level: 3.4

Notes:

  • When connected to a power meter, it emits a similar amount of watts to a cell phone. However, none of this energy can be detected by any other means; it appears to be simply a shell, with no wiring or other mechanism inside it.
  • A new hire, one Tide Lambert, retired shortly after performing testing on the shell, claiming that he could hear his deceased brother calling him to the sea. He currently resides alone on a small island.

Notes:

comment if you have any ideas for items!! ^-^

This is canon in the sense that these items definitely exist in the Archives universe, but most- if not all- will not be used for their magical properties in the fic proper; these are just easter eggs.
