Notes:

Hi!!! First fic ever. I will update this once I’m done drafting.
Star Flower is truly one of my favorite characters. I wanted to expand her story.
I’m sorry if my writing comes off as misogynistic. To me, DoTC reflects how women were treated in the past. Just notice how many shecats were treated badly in DoTC. The arc, despite being questionable, is one of my favorites.
Constructive criticism is welcome! Just do not be mean :P
I am old enough to be here please don’t consider my writing as childish 💔💔💔💔💔

Chapter 1: Introduction

Chapter Text

hello !!! I’m opalescenceofcats, but call me opal.
Recently I’ve got the nagging feeling of writing stories of my favorite cats. So here I am :P
This WILL be updated as soon as I’m done drafting

Chapter 2: DISCLAIMERS

Chapter Text

A dive into Star Flower’s kithood, her relationship with her father, Slash and the cats she grew up with.

THIS STORY CONTAINS MISOGYNIST VIEWS, COERCION, MANIPULATING/GROOMING, PHYSICAL VIOLENCE, REFERENCED SEXUAL COERCION (ASSAULT?) AND UNDERAGED SEX.
DON’T PROCEED IF UNCOMFORTABLE.
OF COURSE, BY ALL MEANS, I DO NOT STAND WITH WHAT HAS BEEN DISCLAIMED. THIS IS A PERSONAL INTERPRETATION OF STAR FLOWER’S STORY. I TRIED TO REPRESENT IN A NON-ROMANTICIZING WAY WHAT I THINK OF HER.
NOTHING HERE SHOULD BE TAKEN AS ROMANTICIZATION. FEEDBACK IS WELCOME ON HOW TO CHANGE THINGS UP.
THIS IS MY FIRST STORY EVER WRITTEN.
TIMELINES MAY BE DIFFERENT FROM CANON ONES.
ALL IS PRIOR TO WHEN STAR FLOWER IS LIBERATED FROM CAPTIVITY.

CHAPTERS MAY BE SMALL!!

Chapter 3: PROLOGUE

Chapter Text

A pained groan rippled through the air. The sound carried through the dense forest. The wailing belonged to an older shecat, her belly round with kittens. She lay on her side, her body jerking as contractions wracked her body. Her green gaze flitted hopefully at the entrance of the abandoned badger set she hid in.

The shecat continued to lay there, the pain being too unbearable to support. A skinny, old sandy-yellow tom with one reddish-amber eye peeked in the den, shock painting his face. He ran inside, gasping. “The kits!” He wailed. He quickly stepped around the shecat, tending to her.

Her heavy breathing filled the cramped den. “One Eye…” She mewed, straining her voice. “I can’t…it’s— it’s too hard…I can’t.” Her words shook One Eye. The tomcat peered closer, rubbing his muzzle against the laboring shecat. “Hold on, dear. Please, you’re strong. You can do this.” He meowed, trying to sound brave. What betrayed his desire to be brave was his shaky voice and ruffled pelt.

The shecat yowled, pain wracking her senior body. One Eye winced, trying his best to calm his mate down. He ran out of the den and brought in food, then moss soaked in water. He tried everything to keep her calm.

The night continued like this, but nothing could be done to ease the poor queen. It was only at the end of her labor that she had found peace. Her body had stopped moving altogether, and it had grown stiff. At her belly lay five kittens. They had been born early, and most of them had died because of their mother’s lack of warmth. One Eye had tried to keep them alive, and he had only succeeded with one kit — one beautiful shekit.

He gazed with his one eye at the little bundle of fur squirming wildly. She looked so fragile. So innocent. She was the spitting image of her mother. Warmth spread through One Eye’s chest, easing away the harsh grief in his old bones. He leaned down, pressing his muzzle to the kitten. “Oh, dear…you’ve done it.” He mumbled, hoping his mate would hear his words.

One Eye’s jaws wrapped around the kitten’s scruff. He spun around and hurriedly took off, his heart beating fast. He headed straight for a depression in the territory near twoleg place. He ran between the cats who knew him until he reached a cluster of cats. He gazed helplessly at a calico shecat, who was nursing her two kittens. One Eye dropped his kitten. “Take care of her.” He meowed rather gently. “Feed her, please. I can’t feed her. I just need you to feed her.”

The shecat looked stunned for a moment. She then gazed at the kitten, her hazel eyes rounding with pity. “What a poor thing…of— of course I will.” It was unclear if she did it because she was scared of One Eye or because she truly felt pity for the bundle of fur. But One Eye didn’t care. He turned and ran off again, out of the little camp where the cats stood confused, gazing at him.

He returned back to where his lifeless mate and other kits lay. He sat beside them, sniffling softly. “We did it…we did it, honey. A kit survived.” He breathed. “She looks so much like you. I wish you were here to see…” His voice cracked. “I know what I’ll name her…after our favorite plant. Star Flower will be her name.” He whimpered out.

Chapter 4: CHAPTER 1

Summary:

I don’t know how to make words in cursive or bold 🥴

Chapter Text

Star Flower hopped through the tall grass, her pupils wide. She gazed around curiously. The shecat who looked after her had gone somewhere far away with her kittens, and now she was left with her father and his cats. Finally! Star Flower thought with a purr. I can spend time with One Eye instead of some stranger and her stinky kittens! Yuck!

Star Flower continued to purr, hopping away. She actually didn’t know where her father was. She knew he was important — he was the leader of the group! I bet my father does lots of cool things. He rules over every cat! I want to be like him! The thought oozed over her, and pleasure filled her up.

Her green gaze set over two shecats talking closely together. One of them was stocky and small; she had a yellow pelt and black stripes like a bee’s, and her eyes were piercing blue. The other shecat was tall and freakishly skinny; her fur was black mottled with dark ginger, and her eyes were amber.

They must be Bee and Swallow. Star Flower recalled. With a squeal, she raced over to the shecats. Her targets flinched in surprise as they saw a small bundle of ginger fur run up to them.

Star Flower purred. “Hi Bee, hi Swallow! What did you do? Hunt?” She gazed up at them curiously.

Bee scrunched her nose, as if disgusted by her mere existence. Swallow shifted on her paws, looking rather uncomfortable. “Uh…we did, actually. We caught some birds and a hare, didn’t we, Bee?” The yellow and black shecat grunted. “Yeah, we did.”

Star Flower frowned, confused by their behaviors. Stinky ugly shecats. She thought bitterly. Are they jealous because I’m One Eye’s kit? Because I’m important? Huh! Star Flower narrowed her eyes. “Are you jealous of me?” She voiced her thoughts.

Swallow flinched as if she had struck her while Bee looked amused. The latter laughed. “As if I’d enjoy being his kit. No, Star Flower. I’m not jealous. I’m just not fond of kittens that disrupt my peaceful time.” She leaned down, pushing her face in the kit’s face.

Star Flower backed up a little. She stared at the older shecat, then puffed up and spat in her eyes. She ran off before Bee had any time to react. That’ll teach her! Ugh! She raced away. Star Flower ended up crashing into a small brown tom who let out a shrill squeal.

She gazed up, finding herself face to face with Snake. Snake sat up immediately, his amber eyes rounding. “Star Flower, what are you doing?!” He yelped. “Don’t come crashing into me when I’m sleeping!” He scolded her. Star Flower begrudgingly rolled her eyes. She stuck her tongue out and scampered away. She was glad he didn’t say any more. At least he respects me. She snorted as the words crossed her mind.

Her eyes lit up as she saw her father return to camp next to a big brown tabby tom with white markings on his paws that resembled slashes. She ran up to One Eye, rubbing her small body all over his thin front legs. One Eye purred and laid down, immediately swooping his daughter in his paws.

Star Flower did not protest. She enjoyed the attention she got from her father. She loved him more than anything else in the small world she knew. Her green eyes landed on the big tom. The tom stared back at her, then smiled toothily. “Good morning, Star of the wild.” He chuckled.

Star Flower hissed at him. “Slash, quiet down and go check up on the prey.” One Eye rumbled as he continued cleaning his daughter. Slash snorted and walked away, not before giving Star Flower a little wink. Star Flower rolled her eyes and melted into her father’s paws.

“What did you do today?” Star Flower mewed as One Eye’s tongue brushed over her head. Her father hummed. “Nothing out of the usual. Just checking our borders and hunting…”

Star Flower huffed, feeling underwhelmed by his explanation. “Really? Just that? That’s so boring!” She squeaked.

One Eye nuzzled her. “I guess it is.” He bared his jaws, nipping softly behind Star Flower’s ear. Her hind leg twitched as if she were scratching the back of her ear. Her purrs grew stronger as One Eye showered her with affections.

I’ll never leave you, and you’ll never leave me, right, One Eye?
