This is... insane! I can't even... wow." Nathaniel stumbled over his words as he took in the sight in front of him.
His best friend. A Miraculous holder, just like him.
He couldn't believe it.
Marc took his hand, gently intertwining their fingers as Nathaniel continued to stare.
"This doesn't change anything though. You still need to be careful, okay little goat?"
"Little goat?" Nathaniel questioned.
"Yeah. I think it suits you."
"I'm not that little..." Nathaniel pursed his lips together like he always did when he was angry. Oh how Marc adored it.
He laughed in response and pulled Nathaniel closer to him. Both boys loved being close to each other. Holding hands, hugging, sitting with each other. You'd think they were sewn together at the hip.
Suddenly, Nathaniel let out a sigh.
"What's wrong, little goat?"
"...it's just... what happened today. With my mom."
"It's okay, she'll be alright. At least she understands you better now."
"I'm angry."
"Why? It wasn't your fault, Nath. You were just living your truth..."
"Not about her getting akumatised. About letting you get hurt."
Marc didn't know how to respond.
"And maybe," Nathaniel sighed. "Maybe if I was stronger, I would've been able to keep you out of harm's way."
"I wasn't hurt, Nath... sure I was... confused when I finally snapped out of it, but I'm okay now. Don't beat yourself up." Marc squeezed his hand, making Nathaniel smile.
"Next time there's an akuma, promise me you'll transform too so we can fight together?" He looked hopefully up at the blue haired boy, causing his gaze to soften.
"Sounds good to me, little goat." Without thinking, Marc pushed back Nathaniel's bangs and kissed his forehead.
Nathaniel felt his face heat up and he pushed himself back from Marc, staring at him wide-eyed.
"Oh my god," Marc stared. "I'm... I'm so sorry, Nath I didn't... I mean I..."
Nathaniel threw himself at Marc's chest, hugging him as tight as he could.
Marc paused for a second before wrapping his arms around the other boy's waist.
"...can you do it again?"
That little question was all Marc needed. He placed another kiss on Nathaniel's forehead, beneath his sunset coloured hair.
Then another.
Then another.
Then another.
Soon, Nathaniel was a blushing, giggling mess as Marc peppered kisses all over his forehead. He squirmed around in Marc's arms as he practically pinned him against his lap.
Once Marc paused his barrage of kisses and Nathaniel's giggling fizzled out, the shorter boy sat up, and scooted himself closer to Marc.
Nathaniel's eyes glanced down to Marc's lips. Even if it was only for a moment, it made Marc's heart skip a beat.
"May I?" Nathaniel asks softly.
"Y-you may."
Nathaniel leaned in and gently placed his lips against Marc's. It was going well until Nathaniel glanced up, noticing that Marc's eyes were open. The angle spooked him a little, and he ended up laughing too much to kiss him anymore.
"Uh- did I do something wrong??" Marc panicked a little.
"Usually people close their eyes when they kiss." He continued laughing.
"Oh yeah, I kinda forgot about that... it was my first kiss."
Nathaniel wiped the tears from his eyes. "Me too."
"Let's try again. Better this time."
"Okay..."
The boys both closed their eyes and let their lips connect again. It was a soft, gentle kiss, but it caused both of their hearts to drum against their chests.
Marc reached up to gently rub Nathaniel's horns while Nathaniel stroked his thumb across Marc's hand.
When they pulled away, their eyes fluttered open to meet each other's gaze. A gaze filled with pure adoration.
"So uh," Marc spoke, his free hand fiddling with his choker. "Does this make us boyfriends now?"
"If you want to be my boyfriend."
"Yes." Marc responded before Nathaniel had even finished his sentence.
"Then, yes! Yes, you're my... my boyfriend."
Marc leaned in and pushed back Nathaniel's bangs again, placing another chaste kiss against his pale skin.
"It feels so good to finally be honest with someone about who I am." Nathaniel smiled, nuzzling his face into Marc's neck.
"Same," Marc started. "And it's nice to see you like this, little goat. You look cute." He booped one of his horns.
Nathaniel blushed.
"Shut up... ... so do you." He pecked Marc's cheek before hiding his face in his neck again.
Marc laughed and held him tighter, running his hands through Nathaniel's soft, ginger hair.
They stayed like that for what felt like forever, and if they could, they would've stayed like that forever.
Two heroes, two teenagers, two boys in love.
