Chapter Text

The closer you got to PK Academy, the more students you saw. So you decided to start looking for someone who fit the description you were given - a short boy with light blue hair and red eyes and he wears red bandages - he should be pretty easy to find. you thought to yourself.
You arrive at class slumping into a chair located near the back of the room, you sigh in defeat, unable to find the small teen. While you were sitting waiting for class to start, you remembered something your boss had told you "I've heard some rumors that there are some psychics at that school so be cautious"  just as the memory crossed your mind you notice that a pink haired boy with weird hair clips flinched.
Ignoring it you looked around your class observing your new classmates as they arrived. A certain blue haired boy came in and immediately caught your attention, he met the description you were given perfectly - although he looked a lot weaker than you thought he would. "That's The Jet-Black Wings?" You watched him as he walked up to the pink haired boy you noticed earlier; they seemed to be friends.
"Hey Saiki" he said to the boy who barely even looked up in response. Poor dude, seems like he just wants to be alone.
You looked away from them, observing the rest of the class.
The next person to catch your attention was a very pretty blue haired girl. As soon as she entered the classroom everyone gathered around her, most likely due to her beauty. "Hello everyone!" you barely managed to hear her say over all the gasping. I hope this isn't a normal occurrence. From what you overheard her name is Teruhashi, you had a feeling you weren't going to like her.
You went back to concentrating on the blue haired boy with bandages, you then begain thinking I wonder if he remembers anything from back then?

I doubt it.

While you were lost in thought you didn't notice the blue haired girl - Teruhashi? Was that her name? - had come up to your desk.
"Hello, you must be the new student!" She said smiling brightly. "I'm Teruhashi Kokomi, nice to meet you!"
"Oh, um... nice to meet you. I'm y/n." You responded with a smile trying to seem like you cared. You then realized the entire class was now looking at you because you were talking to Teruhashi, you didn't quite understand what was so special about her, but she seemed nice. Maybe that's why? You thought even though you know it was probably purely because of her looks.
"Y/n? That's a nice name!" She said with the same smile still plastered on her face. She might have senced that you were a bit uncomfortable with all of the attention you were getting from her because after that she just wished you luck with the new school then went to her seat.

After Teruhashi walked away, the short blue haired teen approached you.
"Hey have you heard of The Dark Reunion?"
Wha- he remembers??!!?
"No I haven't. What's that? Is it from an anime or something?" You responded trying to make your lie convincing, but, a hint of panic could be heard in your voice.
"You haven't heard of The Dark Reunion!?!?" The Jet-black Wings exclaimed, eager to share his knowledge with you.
"No I haven't what is it?"
"Well since you asked. The Dark Reunion is an evil organization that's trying to steal "Black Beat" the power that dwells in my right arm and is sealed there with these bandages, they plan to steal this power and use it to create a new world. But I won't let that happen for I am The Jet-Black Wings!"
You now know for certain that he is the one you're searching for.

"Wow! That sounds really cool!!" You say trying your best to sound surprised. "Could I see it?" You asked hoping to see how well it's sealed.
"No!!" He panics "I-it's too dangerous y-you could get hurt!!"
"Oh... I thought you were cool..." you frown trying to get him to change his mind. It seemed to have worked as you saw his face sadden, he looked as though he was about to cry. "Wh-what I mean is of course you can! You just need to be extremely careful." He says holding back tear. Lame you thought but for some reason you felt kinda bad.
You smile at him softly and reached for his arm. I could probably take the power right now considering how weak he is.
Just then some strange dude who everyone seemed to hate came up to the two of you. "Hey, chibi who's this?" the guy who's face looked like it would be great for effortlessly scaring children asked the blue haired teen.
"Oh Nendo. This is...ummm?" The boy realized he didn't know your name.
"Y/n."
You finished his sentence.
"I was just telling him about The Dark Reunion."
Your conversation was cut short due to class starting and you forgot to ask for his name.

"Y/n!!" The blue haired teen - you found out his name is Kaidou - came over to you with his group of friends. "Do you want to get some ramen with us?"
"Sure!" You answered after coming to the conclusion that becoming closer to him and his friends to earn his trust would be beneficial for your mission.

You make your way to the ramen shop with Kaidou and his friends, Nendou and Saiki.
When you arrive you sit next to Kaidou, across from Saiki with Nendou next to him. Once you all finish ordering your ramen you decide to start a conversation with Kaidou - you still can't believe this pathetic looking kid is the infamous Jet-Black Wings - you start off by asking him basic questions about The Dark Reunion to see just how much he remembers.
"How did you first learn of The Dark Reunion?"
"I actually used to be a member of The Dark Reunion, but then I discovered their evil plans to sort mankind and create a new world so obviously I betrayed them by stealing the stone of ruins needed for their plan."
"Did you get away with it?"
You ask already knowing how the story goes, but it's not everyday that you get to hear about it from The Jet-black Wings himself.
"Well after they discovered that I had stolen it they cornered me forcing me to use the Forbidden Secret Art the Phantom to escape."
You were so focused on his story - even though you've heard it many times before - that you almost hadn't realized when you received your ramen or whenever Nendou made a comment on how delusional Kaidou is.
"The Phantom separates the soul from the body. My soul was shifted into this dimension into the body of the unborn boy Kaidou Shun, the body in which I currently inhabit."
He finishes the story.
"Wow, and they're still after you even now?"

Of course you knew the answer to this as you were sent here for that very reason.

"Yep, but their target isn't me but Black Beat the godlike force within my right arm, but I won't let them get it. I'll protect this world and everyone in it."
He seems so excited to share this information with me, who would be excited about an evil organization coming after you and potentially causing harm to those you care for?
I ask him another question as before I start eating my ramen. "What kind of powers do you have? Could you tell me more about them?"

"Well I obviously have Black Beat which is the source of my powers, I also have Judgment Knights Of Thunder, it summons lightning, attacking my opponent."
As he continues to go on about his powers I feel a pair of eyes on me, I brush it off as his friends thinking your crazy for believing all this.

After we finish our food we go out separate ways and head home.
When you're walking suddenly someone pulls you into a dark alleyway. It was Saiki, and he didn't look too happy.
What does he want? Is he trying to pick a fight with me or something?
He glared at me, maybe he does want to fight. I never thought I'd see him with any other expression than his normal blank one, I almost thought it must be stuck like that.

"Stay away from Kaidou."

What? It's not like he could've figured out what I'm trying to do, right? Maybe he has a crush on him and thinks I'm trying to steal him away? No, that doesn't seem right. Is he just paranoid, thinks I'm faking being nice to bully him? That's probably it, I wouldn't be surprised if that's happened in the past.
"If you don't like me, I can just leave you alone. I see no reason I should leave Kaidou alone though. He should be able to choose who he wants to hang out with, without you dictating his choices."
He appears to want to say more, but doesn't. He seems to be hiding something.

Once again, he speaks up.
"You're part of The Dark Reunion, aren't you?"

Huh? How? Did he actually figure it out or is he delusional and coincidentally assigned that role to me?
I laugh. "Are you delusional? What makes you think I'm part of this imaginary evil organization? I may have gone along with it earlier but that doesn't mean I believe that crap, I was just being nice."
Maybe this is some kind of weird joke? This should be a good reaction to get any possible suspension off of me.

"I didn't believe him, I don't think he fully believes it either. But you are highly suspicious and I'm not going to rule out the possibility, and you kept asking him so many questions. Like you were trying to get information."

This is annoying. "Like I said, I was just being nice and he seemed like he really wanted to talk about it so I was giving him a reason to continue, plus it's kinda cute when he's rambling on about that stuff."
That's not entirely a lie.
"Why are you so sure about it anyway? Are you psychic or something? Did some prophecy inform you of my betrayal?" I make a joke, but it could very well be true, if that turns out to be the case that's some pretty shitty luck.

"Of course not, I'm just your average highschool student."

"So let's say hypothetically I am part of The Dark Reunion...just what do you think you could do about that Mr. Average Highschool Student?" I ask wondering what this weak looking pink guy could possibly do to stop me.

"I'd tell Kaidou."

Oh, I guess he could do that. That would be a slight problem.
"And he'd believe that?" Of course he would, they're friends and he seems stupidly easy to convince.

"He would, I'm his friend and sidekick."

His sidekick?

"Apparently."

Oh, did I say that out loud?

"And what would happen after you tell him?"

"He would defeat you with his super cool powers."

That might be a problem. Even in his weakened state, we're not sure how much of his power he's regained, and since he remembers it might be more than we had first anticipated.

"He'd probably just think you didn't like me, what proof do you have?"

"For someone who's talking hypothetically you're getting really defensive."

Fuck.

"Umm I guess I got a little too into it. Could you let me go home now? It's getting pretty late, it doesn't seem like I'm going to convince you I'm not suspicious, and my parents will start to worry soon."

He walks away.

Okay. I'll figure out how to deal with him later.

For now, let's find the house I'm staying in. I pull out my phone and start the navigation.

I arrived at the house, vaguely observing the area before entering.

I look around the place before settling in my room, laying in the bed. After laying there for a while, I pulled out my phone and contemplated messaging The Jet black Wings - we had exchanged contact information at the end of our hangout earlier - I decided to send him a message

Thank you for inviting me today -

I had a lot of fun -

While waiting for a reply my thoughts wander to Saiki's confrontation from earlier. While it might've just been a wild accusation from an overprotective friend there's a good chance he's the psychic I was warned about. Unfortunately I have no way to contact anyone from headquarters while I'm here. My thoughts get interrupted by a notification from my phone. The Jet-black Wings had texted back.

- It's no problem, from the moment I saw you in class I could feel your powerful aura and knew you'd make an amazing addition to my team and help us defend this earth from The Dark Reunion.

I can't help but laugh a little at his message, it's still hard to believe that this dork is The Jet-Black Wings, he's so clueless, I almost feel a little bad. I debate bringing up what happened with Saiki so I'd have the chance to talk to him first, but decided against it, as we just met today he'd believe his friend over me anyway, I just have to hope Saiki doesn't bring it up and we both just pretend it never happened. I put my phone down and go to the closet to see what I have to sleep in. Once I grab some comfy clothes I change into them and head back to bed, while I'm walking back something catches my eye, there's a note on the dresser 'this will help keep you hidden from the psychics' there's a bracelet with it. "That would've been useful earlier..." I mumbled to myself.
I go back and lay on my bed.

That night I had a dream, it was strange.The Jet-Black Wings was in it. We were back in our world. The dream was one of his escape, where he stole the Black Beat, sealing it in his arm and fleeing from our world to this one. But the strange part was I was there, watching, waiting for something, I can't remember what. I was looking for something? Someone? And I just let him go through with his plan, it was almost as if I were...helping him? No that couldn't be right. I wouldn't do that, not even in a dream, but, the way he looked at me and smiled when he got it, the black beat, before sealing it in his arm and running away when someone entered the room, but he didn't leave without looking back at me...with a concerned expression? I can't recall all the details as at the end of the day, it was a dream, but it almost felt as if it were a memory I had experienced myself. It felt so... Real.

But it wasn't.

Obviously.

It was just a dream.

And I was doing a mission in a completely different place when that happened.
I must've heard the story so much that I was able to clearly recall it as if I was a witness, and The Jet-black Wings (known as Kaidou Shun to this world) had told me all about it in great detail that day so that must be why! I was so entranced by his story that I had subconsciously made some sort of a self insert fanfiction.

The dream then shifts to the previous day, hanging out with Kaidou and his strange friends, eating ramen - not much as I was much too focused on observing Kaidou as he told me his tales from back in his Dark Reunion days - and then of Saiki confronting me... If I screw up this mission I'm done for, and I almost blew it day one.

I have to be more careful from now on. The bracelet will prove to be helpful to me against Saiki and anyone else who may have psychic powers, not that there will be anymore, I mean what's the odds of multiple psychics in this one school? There's already Saiki and The Jet-black Wings, anymore would just be unrealistic.

I try my best to set any worries aside and get a good night's sleep.
It proved to be more difficult then I would've liked. Saiki's suspicions worried me a great deal. What if I'm found out? What if Kaidou gets suspicious of me on his own? What if Saiki goes up to him tomorrow and tells him?
After a long time of worrying I finally fell back asleep.
This time free of dreams.

Chapter Text

I woke up to get ready for my second day at PK Academy, only to notice the time. School had already started!!! I was late! I was so distracted last night I had forgotten to set an alarm!! I hurry to get dressed, almost forgetting the bracelet I had discovered after it was already too late, it'll still be better to have.

By the time I had finished getting ready and made food, may as well eat if I'm already going to be late, it was almost the end of first period, I was able to get there just before PE started.

After being scolded for being late, I change into my PE clothes and then I make my way over to join my class, it looks like they're getting ready to play dodgeball. I'm not too familiar with the games of this world but I learned a little while studying the ways of this world in preparation for my mission, it seems simple enough. I look around trying to find Kaidou, instead I spot Saiki, I watch as he picks up a ball and throws it with the others - Holy shit! What was that!? Does he have super strength too?? Greedy much, telepathy and super strength doesn't seem very fair... - some of the students around looked around confused "Geez, what was that!?" "A meteorite!?" I pretend I didn't see and continue my search for Kaidou, that is until someone came up behind me "Hey Y/N! Where were you this morning?" I turn around to see Kaidou and Nendou. "Oh, I forgot to set an alarm and accidentally slept in, the teacher wasn't too happy with me." I chuckled at my own misfortune. I look over to Nendou who seems to be deep in thought - can Nendou even be deep in thought? - he then turns to Kaidou and speaks "Who's this guy chibi?" huh? is he really that stupid?? we were just hanging out yesterday. Kaidou looks at him in surprise "Are you an idiot!?" do you even have to ask that? "He joined the class yesterday, we went out with him and Saiki after school and got ramen remember?" Nendou seems confused until he heard the word ramen, then he magically seems to remember as if ramen is some kind of trigger word for him, "Oh, our new buddy! He looks different today I almost didn't recognize him." he looks at me creepily - I think that's just the way he looks though - wait what does he mean? I look the same, is my hair messed up or something? That's when Kaidou questioned him " What are you talking about? He looks the same as he did yesterday. Did you hit your head or eat too much ramen or something?" Now that I think about it, there is one thing that's different about me today, the bracelet, but there's no way he even noticed that and it doesn't change my appearance at all. Unless, could Nendou be psychic as well? or that's what I'd think if he wasn't a complete idiot, unless that's all just a façade, no that'd be insane. Even if he were, I wouldn't have to worry now that I have this bracelet.

"All right! For today's class, we'll ply dodgeball!" the teacher announces. The people around us complain about having to play and how its a children's game. They complain until this guy yells out for them to stop, what was his name again? The red head yells out encouraging them to relive their youth or something and it seems to somehow work, this guy must have some real influence for them to get over it that fast, they actually seem excited to play now.

We're told to play rock paper scissors to pick out our teams, I end up on a team with Kaidou and Nendou, I try to hide my excitement for being able to see The Jet-Black wings in action, although he's my enemy it'll be really cool to see, he is a legend after all and with everything he was able to achieve he must be amazing even though he is likely to be weakened in this new body of his.

The game starts, I'm not entirely sure how it works so I'll just observe for a little, it should be easy enough to figure out since its apparently a children's' game. It starts out with the red head - Hairo?- catching a ball that was thrown at him and hitting someone on our team with it, everyone on his team seems really pumped up now, and Hairo is now really sweaty already somehow. Some rando on our team picks up the ball and throws it in Saiki's face, it looks like he didn't even try to dodge, then when he goes to sit out that Hairo guy tells himit didn't count as he got hit in the face, noted don't hit people in the face as it doesn't count, Saiki seems a little annoyed, maybe he wanted to get out. I suddenly remember his throw from earlier and get a little nervous, what if he tries to kill me with it. Hairo yells out to encourage him "Saiki throw it like you mean it." please don't tell him that I don't wish to die today, I'm too young to die. To my surprise he throws it really lightly, straight to Nendo as if they were playing a game of catch. "What the heck was that!!" Hairo yells at him, that's a change from his previously encouraging self "This game is serious! Put some more effort into it!" its just a game what's he being so serious for? This guy confuses me. Nendou speaks up "I appreciate you going easy on me pal, but we're enemies for now!" now Hairo yells at him for going easy on his friend. Nendou throws the ball next hitting 6 people at once! This guys really impressive when he doesn't have to use his brain. He targets Hairo this time, leaving Saiki for last, but Saiki gets in the way blocking the ball from getting Hairo out. The red head yells again, then catches the ball and his pants fall down revealing his bare ass, does this guy not wear underwear?? Hairo scraped his knee leaving Saiki as the last member of his team, I guess if you catch the ball it doesn't count?
Hairo gives some speech as if it were his dying words, handing over the ball to Saiki. He throws the ball again, just as weak as before but the kid who tries to catch it ends up dropping it and I guess that got him out.

The Jet-Black Wings picks up the ball and I can almost feel the aura radiating off of him, he looks so cool, but I must keep my excitement contained. "Take this! Meteor Spark Genocide Ball!!" He throws the ball even more pathetically than Saiki. I stand there in shock, how could The Jet-Black Wings be so athletically challenged. Saiki catches the ball, he throws it to one of his teammates behind us that had been taken out and ends up hitting a few people, even drawing blood, if I didn't know already I would have assumed this was the guy I was looking for. Nendou picks up the ball and throws it at his pal hitting him then Hairo comes out of nowhere catching it once again, showing off his butt again too... everyone cheers for him. He ends up taking out everyone including me except for Kaidou and Nendou.

Hairo ends up getting them both out with the help of Saiki in the end. Nendou goes up and hugs his pink haired friend, Nendou seems to be very unpopular and kills everyone's previously cheerful mood simply by his presence. I go over to Kaidou and complement him on his "special move" even if it was pathetic its best to do so in order to get closer to him.
