Chapter Text
Today is the day that Izuku finds out what his quirk is, and he is soooo excited to tell Kacchan all about it when the appointment is over.
Mom picked Izuku up early from preschool and played Put Your Hands Up radio, Izuku's favorite station, all the way to the doctor's office.
The good mood changed when they got the diagnosis
Quirkless
Izuku was quirkless.
“It's not gonna happen kid, usually when you have a quirk you would only have one joint in your pinky toe, you have two which means that you are likely never going to get one.”
Those words echoed in the back of Izuku's mind as his hearing started to fade until it was a faint but constant ring.
He didn't notice how Mom's grip on his hand started to become almost vice-like and painful.
Today was the day that Izuku learned that he was less than most people.

The way home from the appointment was quiet, though for Izuku, the ringing in his ears was so loud to the point that he would never have heard his mothers teeth grinding together, and he was zoned out so much to the point that he could never have seen the way Inko kept on looking at him.
There was no music, not even static to accompany their thoughts.
Those words were echoing so loudly in Izuku’s mind that he didn’t even notice the car pulling into the driveway.
When he got out of the car he mindlessly wandered over to his mother to hold her hand, looking for some sense of comfort. Though when he went to grab it she snatched it away from him as if he were dirty and would somehow get his filth on her.
Inko hurried away from him, preferring unlocking the front door over comforting her child.
Izuku didn’t understand why she was acting that way towards him, so he figured that she was just trying to process the new information in her own way.
The tension inside wasn’t any better than in the car.
He just stood in the genkan not knowing what to do, or what to say.
So he didn’t say anything and just walked to his room, closed the door, then let the tears that had been gathering in his eyes finally fall.
He curled up in his bed and proceeded to cry himself to sleep.

By the time Izuku woke up it was past dinner time. Why didn’t mom wake him up?
He left his room and walked into the kitchen only to find that his mother was nowhere to be seen. His eyes wandered to the fridge where he found a sticky note that explained his moms absence,
“I’m going to talk with Mitsuki”
Oh, she’s with auntie. She’s probably talking about the appointment.
As he thought about the note he heard his stomach growl.
Izuku was really hungry after crying so much but he couldn’t reach any of the cabinets and didn’t know how to make anything in the fridge so he decided to sit at the couch to wait for his mom to come home.
That night was the beginning of the worst time in Izuku’s life, not because of his diagnosis, no, because that was the first time Inko had ever used her quirk with the intent to hurt Izuku.
