Backstory:

• Rei was born in the Ancient Eldan Sanctum, in 792.
  • She is also Euchronia's first female heir to the throne.
• When she was a baby, an attempt was made on her life; her assailant(s) believed that a halfblood like her is unfit to eventually rule a kingdom.
• As a child, Rei had fond memories of playing and quietly reading in the Eldan Sanctum, and occasionally gliding around the capital on her dad's sword.
• Her adolescence partially consisted of studying statecraft as part of her royal duties.
• During the events of the next-gen story, Rei, after her 18th birthday, is to establish herself as the future queen of Euchronia.
  • She does so by going on a journey across Euchronia to establish connections and communication with the other kingdoms and tribes.

Trivia:

• Her third eye is blue like her father's eyes, though it mostly remains closed, only opening when Rei expresses strong emotions or usage of powers.
  • Her third eye becomes yellow when she uses her Eld-Eye ability (her version of Fae Sight).
  • The idea behind her third eye's two different colors was based on Will's initial heterochromia.
  • Rei's Eld-Eye is named after the Elda tribe, whereas the ability itself is based on Joker's Third Eye ability from Persona 5.
• Her gauntlet runner is called the Odyssey Dragon.
  • This is a nod to the video game series Etrian Odyssey.
• Rei's name has several meanings:
  • Hebrew = friend; companion
  • Portuguese, Spanish = king
  • French, Latin = ray of light
  • Japanese = light, beautiful, clever
• Rei's story/quest of journeying across Euchronia to prove herself as the future queen was inspired by the Critical Role character Keyleth, and her Aramenté.

• Eurian was born in 791.
• He enlisted in Grand Trad's army shortly after his 18th birthday.
  • During this time, he engaged in a rivalry with Gertrude; a fellow soldier, and the daughter of Rudolf Krause.
    • The two would spar together as part of their shared goal of eventually gaining the title of State Army General.
• During the events of the story, Eurian, along with several other soldiers, accompany Rei on her initial journey outside of Grand Trad.

Trivia:

• Eurian's name is a portmanteau of the names "Eugene" and "Rian".
  • Eugene, as a name, means "noble" and "well-born" in Greek.
  • Rian, as a name, means "little ruler/king", "kingly" and "God of Heaven".
• Eurian acts awkwardly when in the presence of beautiful women.
  • This is based on unused dialogue for Strohl from the game when first meeting Fabienne.

Trivia:

• Hadyn shares his mother's appetite when it comes to sampling foreign/strange delicacies.
• He has a crush on the songstress Vira.
  • This is based on how, prior to Junah joining the party, Hulkenberg struggled to keep her fangirling towards Junah under control.
