Research Project: The Twins

Summary:

The scientists of Rapture have found a way to make The Little Brothers line work, in the form of a bonded pair. However, this seems to have affected their behaviors.

This research paper will detail what has been documented and what will be seen of the now infamous Twins of Rapture.

(Spoiler Alert: The Twins happen to be one Eleven Jane Hopper and Will Byers)

Notes:

Do I have another fic I haven't updated in a month that I definitely should be working on instead? Yes. AND I WILL, I'm just getting this out cause it's been stuck in my head and I find it really cool.

Chapter 1: Initial Report

Chapter Text

When making the Little Sisters it became obvious that they had to be girls. Any attempt to make a Little Brother would always fail.

However the scientists of Rapture refused to let go of the possibility, determined to open as many doors and have more…materials at their disposal for the project.

Luckily, an ally scientist above ground known as Dr. Brenner had two children that he stated would ‘work exceptionally for the project’. He handed over the two rather reluctantly, had his own concerns and probably wasn't too happy with letting his pet projects become our guinea pigs.

In fact, we were all rather surprised when we found out Brenner's connection to the children. None of us were sure why he would give them up so willingly.

Regardless, we acquired them and started the process for the two alongside each other in another attempt to bond them, much like the bond between an LS and a BD, in hopes that it would prevent the previous failures with the Little Brothers. Of course it didn't hurt that the two already looked like twins all on their own.

To our delight, the project worked, they were bonded to a BD and sent to work with the others.

Despite the initial success, it became apparent that The Twins had a behavior difference.

They seemed to split their job between them, shifting according to the other's mood, but remaining relatively consistent. The details of these “jobs” will be sighted in a separate report.

Besides the job split, they appeared much more…aggressive compared to their counterparts.

We observed the two running through structures, goofing off in a way that almost tricked me into believing them to be…normal children who stumbled upon Rapture.

The illusion was quickly broken when a Splicer attempted to harvest them.

It managed to grab hold of and hurt the Little Brother. To which the Little Sister, instead of the usual response of panic and fear to their BD, reacted with rage.

Our cameras proceeded to glitch out upon hearing the girl scream, disallowing us the chance to observe what the LS did, but when they came back on…the Splicer was decimated. Blood covered the area, and yet, The Twins’ BD was nowhere in sight.

The only conclusion was the LS did it herself. How? We still do not know.

The girl paid no mind to the blood and body she was meant to help harvest, instead hugging and holding her brother, humming an unfamiliar song.

Along with this, is their tendency to hunt what they are required to gather if they go too long without a body to harvest.

Needless to say, the two have become infamous within Rapture, and something older Splicers tend to avoid.

We do not know why the twos bond has caused these changes but we decided to freeze The Twin production line until we have a chance to study them further.

Naturally, Ms. Tenenbaum is determined to…adopt the two or whatever she does with the Little Sisters she takes. I do not believe it wise of course, The Twins are unpredictable and will react drastically to any form of harm to the other. She'll sooner get herself killed, but perhaps that will only amount to another problem crossed off my list in the end.

Notes:

I plan on maybe making a full story out of this concept
I'm just not sure how much I want to integrate these two worlds

Should Rapture exist in Stranger Things? Should it be another dimensional portal that Brenner sent them through?

Lmk your thoughts and ideas!

Hope you enjoyed, don't die!

Chapter 2: Observation: Jobs

Chapter Text

The Little Sisters are made to find and harvest blood from dead Splicers in order to obtain more Adam.

The Twins seem to have decided to split their responsibilities. Every so often they switch or help each other but they remain mostly consistent.

The Hunter: Little Sister

The girl's task seems to revolve around the location of bodies.

She'll tug her brother through the city, sometimes for hours, pausing every so often to sit before taking off again.

It is unknown how she locates the bodies, especially from so far away. More on that later

After a successful deposit of Adam, the girl takes the syringe. Despite gathering being her brother's job, she refuses to let go of the syringe until the body or target is located, where she’ll hand it over to her brother with no argument.

The Gatherer: Little Brother

The boy's task seems to revolve around the harvesting.

He'll allow himself to be dragged through the city by his sister, never confused when she stops to sit for undetermined amounts of time, and never questions why she holds onto the syringe.

When a body is located he will gather the blood as directed.

Note - will occasionally veer off course and perform his own…dissection of the bodies. Cutting and twisting and breaking, before taking out what looks to be a book

After undetermined amounts of time, original task will be resumed.

After they drop off what they've gathered, either they will run off to do whatever they do in their “freetime” or the boy will hand over the syringe, and they go off hunting again.

Notes:

They've both got their own little quirks let them be :P

Chapter 3: Relations

Notes:

Not all info found here is known by the Rapture scientists

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Brigid Tenenbaum: Relation

As was for the other Little Sisters, she was the lead scientist working on the Twins project. Unsurprisingly, she was also the one to figure out what they needed to do to bond them properly.

Her solution to the bonding problem being; they simply needed to be within eye and earshot of each other during the rather painful process of becoming an LS. That and be kept awake, unlike the normal Little Sisters, who would be sedated for the process.

This method had unforeseen consequences, contributing to previously mentioned behavioral issues and another factor that will be discussed later on.

After her change of heart towards her creations, Tenenbaum was determined to help the two children. However, instead of coming into her lab and attaching themselves emotionally to her like her other little ones, they avoided any contact with the scientists, especially her.

A part of her is piecing together why exactly that is, yet, she persists. Her guilt simply will not allow her to leave them, no matter how much they may hate her.

Dr. Brenner: Relation + Backstory (Not set in stone)

The little girl, he raised in his lab with other children like her, until they were slaughtered by the one meant to guide them kindly. (Canon Backstory)

The boy, he studied slowly over the years, brought by his father to their lab (Theory thingy, probably gonna change) Of course, the family fell apart soon enough and the boy was no longer accessible to his father. But, as luck would have it, that same boy got stuck in the dimension they were studying, and they managed to pull him out a couple days in. One faked body later, and they were sure he was no longer being looked for.

Of course that ended up being untrue but they were able to send them through a portal, thanks to a certain pair of red heads that inspired this whole project, and into Rapture.

Brenner's motive is still unknown, but thanks to the time deficit between their two worlds, they had all the time to shape and mold the children into what they needed.
