Chapter 1: Engagement Shadows
Chapter Text
“nghh, L–Law~”
Luffy squealed as the stretch from Law’s swollen base inched deeper and deeper into his soft, fucked out hole.
Luffy squirmed restlessly, furrowing his brows in overstimulation as he struggled to adjust to the feeling of being so full.
The ache in his stomach throbbed with each breath as he tugged helplessly at the pillows above his head, seeking some sort of relief to somehow lessen the pain. His fingers tightened as the normally boundless energy drained from his limbs.
“Please don’t leave.” Law panted, pinning Luffy’s waist firmly against his hips, tightening his grip to keep him still.
Luffy let out a weak groan, barely audible, “I–I won’t, just—”
Law’s knot was inside him, thrust deep as he prepared to spew his thick cum.
Luffy’s walls pulsate against his length in anticipation. He was past being surprised at how pliant his body was acting, his own body betraying him as his hole kept pulling Law in.
“Fuck,” he muttered, clawing at the silky white sheets beneath him.
Luffy knew that spending Law’s rut with him would be different— something he didn’t have words for.
He knew what he was signing up for… Or at least, he thought he did. But this—this was something entirely different. He didn’t expect it to be so intense, didn’t expect Law to be so out of it.
He had heard all about an Alpha’s rut.
Being the only omega in his family and among his closest friends meant he was constantly surrounded by alphas, all of whom tiptoed around the subject as if it were taboo. But, despite their attempts to ‘shield him’, he had pieced things together. He wasn’t completely clueless— he knew the basics, knew what to expect, even if just in theory.
Still, no amount of secondhand knowledge could have prepared him for reality.
He was expecting Law to seem distant, sure, distracted even; but what he wasn’t expecting was Law being so completely consumed by his animalistic urges that it felt like he was somewhere else entirely.
Law was in need, in pain, whimpering as his mind was clearly tangled in something heavier.
Yet, amidst it all, he seemed so desperate, so pitiful. Fucked up and intoxicated as he sunk his teeth into Luffy, over, and over, and over again. His agitated movements, each followed by a frustrated exhale before he bit again, and again, and again.
Even as Luffy’s focus faltered, he didn’t mind. He was the one with Law right now and that’s all that mattered.
As long as Law avoided his nape, he could handle this. Only he could handle Law. He knew that this would come to pass, it’ll be over soon, and they’d be fine—
As long as Law doesn’t mark him.
Luffy knew that if Law marked him during this state, he’d lose his best friend.
He knew Law would regret it—regret him— because deep down, he never truly believed Law could ever be his.
He’d never delude himself into a reality of that being true, the thought alone felt absurd.
Law was a contradiction, so near yet so impossibly far.
He stayed close to Luffy, like the comforting warmth of a fire just out of reach, but never allowed himself to step into the flames.
Law was the one who gave Luffy the most attention, picking up little details that no one else noticed. The way Luffy hated cherry pie, but always took it when offered. How he’d doodle absentmindedly on scraps of paper.
He would listen to Luffy’s endless, chaotic rants with the kind of patience that felt out of place for someone so guarded.
Sometimes Law would offer a quiet, sarcastic remark that had Luffy laughing for days. Other times, he would just hum softly in acknowledgment, his eyes saying far more than his words ever did as he watched Luffy.
Luffy wasn’t blind to it— the way Law’s gaze lingered.
But it wasn’t one that he liked.
It was as if Law was memorizing every laugh, every habit, compiling a collection of memories to carry with him when he finally walked away.
—
Luffy was an omega with a potent, intoxicating smell. A blend of warm vanilla with soft hints of lavender and the delicate blooms of wisteria— spreading through the air, displaying the sure signs of spring.
The sunlit oranges, the soft sunset pinks and the deep evening reds all paled in comparison, for Luffy was truly the fairest of them all.
That’s what Law loved, how warm yet cool and comforting Luffy’s presence was. His welcoming scent, like the dewy spring mornings. How at peace it made him feel, like watching the tiny droplets of condensation that formed overnight, glistening in the cool dawn of day.
It was the kind of scent that lingered, embedding itself into every corner of Law’s mind, making it impossible to forget— not that he wanted to.
But it wasn’t just his scent, there was more to Luffy.
His curly hair, dark and messy, yet impossibly soft, appearing as if it were kissed by the sun itself. Then there was his sleek waist, tapering in a way that made every tailored outfit look regal, as if the gods had sculpted him to be the embodiment of grace itself.
His sunshine personality, the way he carried himself, the unspoken pull he had on everyone around him. Luffy was a burst of energy, laughter, and unapologetic joy, commanding attention without trying.
Every smile, every laugh, every casual remark drew people in.
Law, who prided himself on his self-control and reserve, had been undone by this from the very start.
He had known Luffy since they were children, one of the rare few allowed to be close to the treasured prince. They had grown together— Law, his protector and confidant, and Luffy, his best friend and, unknowingly, his greatest weakness.
This was why, even though he was the one to ask Luffy to fake date him, Law kept a mental distance. Never too close, as he knew he would never be able to separate himself from the Monkey Family’s most prized possession— their youngest and most coveted Prince, their only omega.
He knew more than anyone that their overprotectiveness was valid, as Luffy was the most lusted after in the Kingdom.
Alphas, Betas and Omegas alike wished for the boy, as having him would make them the luckiest and most envied man.
And yet, none of them could ever have him.
Law knew this more than anyone else as he was undoubtedly the first victim. Nevertheless, he convinced himself that it was all for Luffy’s sake, that being an alpha meant he would inevitably lose himself to his instincts, not once, not twice but many times as he grew stronger and became more susceptible to overwhelming ruts.
Law had accepted this fact long ago, vowing to never mark Luffy— never binding him to the chaos of his instincts.
And so, he forced himself to maintain perfect control— suppressing his scent and chaining his desires.
Yet, here they are.
Scene 1: The day it all begun
“What?”
Luffy spoke calmly, though there was a subtle hint of aggression in his tone.
The afternoon sun peeked through the tall windows of the royal library, its golden streams on the pearly white floors. The room was quiet, with the faint rustling of curtains stirred by the soft wind, and the sound of Luffy’s breathing as he slept. He was curled into the plush chaise, waiting for Law to return from his trip.
Brows now arched in contempt as, not only was he pulled from his afternoon nap, but… What the fuck did he just hear? Law?
‘As if’ he would say, if it wasn’t coming straight from his grandfather, His Majesty, King Monkey D. Garp.
As king, all alliances and proposals amongst nobles had to be approved by him.
This was to secure loyalty and ensure that no engagements made could possibly challenge the King’s authority.
“Ridiculous.” Luffy muttered, “Law would never.” He knew Law wouldn't.
“Luffy my boy, he is!” Garp huffed out, “A meeting was held by the Royal Council this morning and plans to arrange for Law’s marriage with the eldest omega of the Donquixote House was brought to the table.”
“Oh.” Luffy’s eyes narrowed, trembling voice betraying his attempt to sound unfazed.
Monet.
The green–haired goddess that all Alphas (but one) desired, second only to Luffy himself.
Luffy knew Monet must have been the mastermind behind this— a proposal designed to draw Law’s attention, a strategic one at that.
Pairing the eldest daughter of the Marquess of Dressrosa with the only son of the Duke of Flevance— the famed “White City” and the second greatest nation in the kingdom— would solidify a great alliance.
Her father, Lord Donquixote Doflamingo, held a powerful position, overseeing the kingdom’s borders and military forces. The Duke of Flevance was the royal advisor, also known as the King’s right-hand man, best friend and the backbone of the Royal Council.
A marriage between two of the greatest houses would be unparalleled in significance, ensuring mutual support in both political and military affairs.
A union of power, heightening their value to the King.
Knowing Monet and her calculated demeanor, Luffy knew she must have taken all of this into consideration. Not simply vying for power, but leveraging the weight of her family name to get Law; as she moved with the poise of someone who believed she could have everything she desired.
She was openly obsessed with Law, making no effort to hide her feelings for him. She would attach herself to Law the moment she saw him, hooked on his arm with her cheeks flushed red at the slightest hint of interest from him— which was usually him responding with a noncommittal hum to her endless rants.
Monet knew the other alphas and omegas interested in Law were mere nuisances— easily intimidated, easily discarded.
All but Luffy.
The only one she couldn’t dare touch or so much as speak to freely.
Luffy wasn’t someone she could openly compete with anyway, not when his royal status placed him leagues above her.
Not when Law’s actions made it clear that if she tried, it would ultimately lead to him immediately ignoring her existence.
She hated Luffy as she knew, everyone knew, how much he meant to Law. How deeply he cared for the omega prince. How his eyes softened when they landed on him. How he, ever stoic and composed, allowed himself to be pulled into Luffy’s orbit without a second thought.
Envy filled her as she wished, hoped, that Law would acknowledge her unrequited love at least.
She had only teased Luffy once when she saw that Law turned cold. He hadn’t spoken a word or even frowned, but the air around him darkened, sharp and uninviting.
“Leave him.”
It was a warning, one Monet understood immediately, that Luffy was untouchable.
Nevertheless, she tried desperately to win Law’s favor by creating the perfect pretence that she also adored the little prince.
“Oh! Luffy sweetheart, I didn’t see you there~.”
She would purse her lips and lie, even after making eye-contact with Luffy first to check if Law was nearby.
Everyone knew that where Luffy was, Law was one step behind, lingering in his shadow. The same as well, wherever Law was, Luffy trailed behind him, being pulled by his ear.
“Control your pheromones, Lu.” Law would whisper low against his ear, whenever Luffy’s pheromones leaked when he got too excited or when he’s overwhelmed.
“Come on, stop being so friendly,” Law would grumble, “they’ll get the wrong idea again.” each time Luffy smiled brightly at someone’s compliment.
“We’re leaving.” he’d snap, already turning on his heel, fingers tight around Luffy’s wrist, dragging him, while Luffy stumbled behind protesting softly— when someone so much as tried to get too bold with Luffy (asking him on a date).
Everyone would brush it off though, as this was how those in Luffy’s family or the few permitted to be around him would act whenever someone showed more interest than allowed.
Monet hated it all but the thought of Law giving her even a fraction of the attention he gave Luffy was enough to make her desperately cling onto hope. That one day she too could form an effortless bond with Law, similar to what he and Luffy shared. It didn’t matter if she had to manipulate her father by carefully constructing this political trap for Law.
She knew that Law, known for his nonchalant nature, had genuine feelings for Luffy, despite his act to pretend otherwise.
This was why she knew that the only way to have Law was to pry him away from Luffy, under the guise that her father was simply trying to gather more influence in the land for the King.
“That boy Law,” Garp muttered under his breath with a hint of frustration— pulling Luffy from his thoughts. “I thought he would eventually...” his voice trailed off as he looked at Luffy. Luffy raised a brow.
“Anyway, that’s that. We will have an engagement ball to attend this weekend if he agrees. I must say that as the King, I have no good reason to decline if the proposal is prepared for approval.” Garp pinched the bridge of his nose, sighing, “You know the Donquixote House has influence and Monet would be an appealing match for Law…” He waved his hand before continuing, “...on paper.”
“Personally however, I’d rather not see such a union with someone I love as if he were my own son.” his tone softened.
Luffy stared at him as he could hear the reluctance in his grandfather’s voice. Garp was often hard on them, but they knew he loved and deeply cared for each of them.
“Law would never agree to that.” Luffy said softly, his brows knitting together.
“Maybe. But you know as well as I do Luffy. He’s of age and is getting closer to his responsibilities as the next heir.” Garp replied, exiting the room.
“He doesn’t even like her.” his tone quiet, almost a whisper.
“Love doesn’t matter in these things.” Garp knew more than anyone that things as fleeting as love were meaningless in a marriage of state. “It is simply one’s duty to accept if there are no other options.” His tone blunt, as if the words were meant for Luffy himself.
It wasn’t like this was anything new— Law was the Duke's son after all. These expectations had been looming over him for as long as Luffy could remember. But now, with Garp's announcement, it felt a little too real, especially since Law’s to be bride was not the third prince from the palace in the capital.
This was why a slither of fear kept worming its way through his thoughts at the slightest possibility that Law might finally give in to quiet the talks of him not having a promising relationship, all while being the only son.
With Luffy’s tranquility disturbed and his peaceful nap ruined, he laid back, squeezing his eyes shut as he threw an arm over his face.
He stayed quiet as the minutes ticked by, waiting for Law’s return.
—
The sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the hall, pulling Luffy from his spiraling thoughts.
To his surprise, Law came back earlier than expected, practically rushing through the West Wing.
“Where’s Luffy?”
His voice echoed as he came closer towards the door, yelling at the guards positioned at the library.
His voice was gruff, frantic.
Moments later, the doors of the room burst open, slamming against the walls with a force. The guards rushed in shortly after at this very odd sight, thinking something must have gone terribly wrong to have this reaction from the young lord.
Luffy, now confused by the clamour, turned his face to Law, slightly raising himself on his elbows as he narrowed his eyes against the sunlight.
He took in the odd sight before him: Law absolutely disheveled – his shirt untucked, hair slightly messy, and his usual composed demeanor replaced with something strange.
A very rare sight.
“Law?” Luffy titled his head, confusion only growing.
“Leave us.” Law ordered, the guards moved swiftly. He didn’t wait for a response before slamming the door shut behind him, locking it with a swift click.
Law’s golden eyes searched the room. When he finally locked his onto Luffy’s, for a moment neither of them said anything.
Then, Law broke the silence.
Luffy shot up entirely, looking at Law with an even more confused face when he hears the words “Date Me.”
Huh?
“F–For only three months, j-just act like you’re in a relationship with me.” Law said quickly. “I–I mean, I already told them that I wasn’t interested, but admitting to being in a relationship would be the most effective approach and they would never believe me unless who I’m with is you.” he continued, pacing back and forth. “You’re the only person I can believably claim as my partner.”
Luffy, now surprised that there were so many levels of confusion a person could reach, began to process all that just happened. Stuck on the words “only person” as he stared at Law. Is he even hearing the words out of his—
“Just to have them off my back, Lu. It’ll be a hassle to seek someone right now without them getting clingy, or worse, word getting out that it’s evidently fake.”
Oh.
Right, he must have come to know about the arrangement. ‘Corazon’, Luffy thought. He was always quick when it came to receiving the latest news, especially ones that would concern Law.
Luffy thought that this would be the most logical move but coming from Law, even while knowing that he said those words only to help his case, he can’t help but feel his cheeks heat up as warmth pools in his stomach.
Leaning back against the chaise, he hugs his knees and gently pats the space beside him for Law to sit.
“Sit. Calm down and think this through.” he said softly, his voice not betraying him this time. After all, he was used to controlling himself around Law after years of pining.
“Oh right.” Law moves to sit, his arm now resting on Luffy’s knees. “You must be wondering what this is all about—"
“I heard.” Luffy cuts him off, not wanting to hear the silly arrangement again. “But are you sure? My family would fucking freak.”
Law turned to him then, his golden eyes vulnerable in a way Luffy had never seen before. “I know.”
He knew this as he too would freak if Luffy happened to mention that he was in a relationship. The thought alone sent a strange throb through his chest.
But this was fine, it's him. And what’s even more, this would give him an excuse to stay even closer without guilt, to occupy a space no one else could.
Given the rewards, he’d just have to convince them that he had no ill intentions.
….which wouldn’t take much.
Everyone, both in and out of the royal court, saw that the young alpha was absolutely smitten with the young prince.
Anyone paying even the slightest attention could see the way Law looked at Luffy. How the young heir— infamous for his sharp tongue and cutting intellect— turned into the complete opposite of himself in Luffy’s presence.
His messy movements and uncharacteristic softness.
But, like a secret that didn’t need to be stated explicitly, they kept it to themselves, finding it amusing how Law tiptoed around Luffy, being close yet careful not to overstep.
No one else dared to come close to Luffy, partly because of his family’s intimidating status, but mostly because Law’s silent claim was crystal clear.
For all his restraint, he refused to leave enough space for anyone to slip in. He would never allow anyone to steal Luffy away.
They sit in silence before Luffy nods, breaking it with an “Okay,” agreeing to Law’s proposal.
Law’s head snapped towards him, his features softening in surprise.
His hand, which had been resting on Luffy’s knees, slid slightly down the side of his thigh— the touch sending an unexpected shiver down Luffy’s spine. He cursed himself for the way his body reacted to it.
“Really? Great.” Law exhaled a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. For someone usually so composed, he looked ridiculously relieved.
Luffy turned his face away to hide the blush creeping up his cheeks.
“Stupid.” He muttered. Was Law expecting him to say anything else but? The idea of anyone else with Law, regardless of it being ‘fake’ was something Luffy wasn’t willing to entertain. not now, not ever.
“Luffy,” Law said softly, his voice pulling Luffy’s gaze back to him. “Thank you,” followed by a kiss pressed to Luffy’s forehead to unfurrow his brows.
Luckily, he caught the whimper trying to escape his throat as he melted deeper into Law’s lips.
He was often treated to these unfair sudden acts of sweetness, but that didn’t mean he was used to it.
He hated it.
Law holding his waist.
Law kissing his forehead and cheeks.
Law throwing his hands over his shoulders.
Law squishing his face when he responded rudely or with the slightest hint of attitude.
Law holding his hands, even if it’s just to pull him away from lusting alphas.
Law cuddling him during their occasional naps together.
Law teaching him horse riding, waking him up for early morning rides.
Going to the local shops for Luffy’s endless meals and treats.
Law buying him ‘just because’ gifts.
Law inviting him to his training grounds as he practiced his sword skills.
Luffy’s used to Law doing all this since he knew himself... But he could never fully grasp how it made him feel.
His eyes lingered on Law longer than he realized, tracing his golden earrings, glancing at the way his lashes framed his eyes so perfectly and his soft pink lips—
Luffy snapped out of his trance quickly, moving to lay in Law’s lap to escape his thoughts, hiding his crimson cheeks. Law adjusted himself at the sudden move, his fingers now running through Luffy’s hair while the other hand rested on his thigh, absentmindedly tracing patterns up and down in a slow, steady motion.
“Who should we tell first?”
“I already told Corazon on the way, so he’ll get it done from there.” rolling his eyes, Law continued “Haa, but we should expect some annoying questioning for the next couple of days though.”
Luffy hummed, blinking slowly as his body sags further into the warmth of Law’s embrace.
He let out a quiet yawn, the exhaustion from the day’s events catching up to him. “I’m tired,” he murmured, his voice soft and unguarded.
Law, ever the attentive alpha, stilled for a moment. His hand, which had been on Luffy’s thigh, came to rest gently on his waist.
“Yeah?” he whispered, his deep voice carrying a gentleness he rarely showed to anyone else.
Without waiting for Luffy to respond, Law began carefully shifting them. When they settled, Luffy was cocooned in Law’s arms, his smaller frame tucked protectively against the young master’s body.
Law’s embrace was comforting, wrapping his arms securely around Luffy’s waist in a firm yet gentle hug.
He pressed his nose to Luffy’s nape, inhaling deeply— the scent that drove him crazy, the subtle, natural sweetness of Luffy, the scent that calmed him the most. Yet, on the flip side, the one that made him feel the most possessive.
“Me too,” he muttered, followed by a deep exhale. His lips brushed against Luffy’s skin in a way that made the prince shiver. “Let’s take a nap together.”
As the Alpha’s steady breathing and warm scent surrounded him, Luffy’s eyelids grew heavier.
One by one, they drifted off into sleep, tangled together on the chaise.
Chapter 2: Whispers of an Arrangement

When your sibling is just as sharp and perceptive as you are? Chaos is inevitable.
Chapter Text
The news of their sons’ supposed relationship had spread like wildfire amongst the nobles (thanks to Corazon), eventually reaching The King’s ears, as intended.
The boisterous, overprotective grandfather had been skeptical at first, not because he thought that Law didn’t deserve someone like Luffy, but because he knew Law too well..
The little heir’s reserved demeanor made him a hard read, even for Garp, and if there was anyone stubborn enough to pretend their feelings didn’t exist, it was Trafalgar Law.
Sitting across from him in the royal carriage, Duke Trafalgar, Law’s father, mirrored his skepticism. Despite his usual exterior, he was a little less reserved than his son. A flicker of doubt crossed his face.
“Do you think they’re actually serious about this?” he asked, rubbing the bridge of his nose.
“Serious?” Garp snorted, leaning back as he crossed his arms. “Knowing Luffy, he’s probably not taking this seriously, he might’ve simply agreed because it’s Law. And Law? The little shit is too damn stubborn to admit he’s smitten. But we’ll see for ourselves.”
The carriage rumbled to a stop outside the Goa Palace.
The two men stepped out, their combined presence commanding attention. The staff bowed deeply, but they didn’t linger as they were determined to find the young couple and get to the bottom of things.
And that wouldn’t take long.
Garp knew where to find Luffy. He assumed he had been where he left him, given how he left him. And Law, well.. knowing Law, he would be anywhere Luffy was. So, to find both, they only had to look for the one who had the other wrapped tight around his pinky.
Which led them to the library in the west wing.
As soon as they entered the room, they were greeted by the sight of their sons sleeping, tangled together on the chaise.
Luffy, nestled against Law’s chest, his breathing slow and even, while Law’s arms were wrapped securely around him, his head resting atop Luffy’s wild hair.
The scene was one of complete peace, the kind that couldn’t be faked.
Garp raised an eyebrow, his lips twitching as he fought back a grin. “Well, would you look at that?”
Duke Trafalgar sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose, though his posture softened. “Idiots. Both of them.”
They stood there for a moment, taking in the sight of their sons—one a carefree omega, the other a guarded alpha—finding solace in each other. It was painfully obvious to them both that their feelings were mutual, even if the boys themselves were oblivious.
“Should we wake them?” Garp asked, though his tone suggested he already knew the answer.
“No,” Trafalgar replied firmly. He glanced at Garp, a smile on his lips. “Let them have their moment. We’ll handle this carefully.”
“Carefully?” Garp scoffed. “I was just gonna yell at them until they figured it out themselves.”
The Duke shot him a stern look. “And that’s why I’m handling it.” Patting his friend on the back.
With a shared understanding, they turned and left the room quietly, their plan already forming.
They wouldn’t press the issue—not directly. Instead, they’d feign ignorance, pretending to raise concerns about whether the relationship was real.
By planting doubts and making the pair think about the nature of their relationship, they hoped to push them toward the inevitable realization that their feelings weren’t fake at all.
Back in the carriage, Garp finally let out a laugh. “You know, it’s always entertaining, watching them stumble around like this.”
Trafalgar hummed in agreement. “It’s infuriating but they’ll figure it out... Eventually."
“And if they don’t?”
The Duke’s eyes glinted with mischief, a smirk on his face. “Then we might have to nudge them. Hard.”
For now, though, they would wait. Watching their sons fumble toward love was far too entertaining to interrupt… just yet.
Scene 2: The greatest mistake
A soft knock at the door managed to pull Law from his sleep. The knock came again after a couple of minutes, a little louder, this time making Luffy shift with a soft groan, his head now resting on Law’s arms.
Law blinked awake, muddled but instinctively aware of the presence on the other side of the door.
A polite voice broke the quiet. “My Lord, your families have gathered in the dining hall for breakfast. They are requesting your presence at once for the morning meal.” She only bothered to address Lord Law, knowing Luffy would still be fast asleep.
Law groaned softly, rubbing the heel of his palm over his eyes. Beside him, Luffy mumbled incoherently— something about meat? Talk about priorities—nosing at Law’s chest as he tried to seek cover from the morning rays.
“We’ll be down soon,” Law said deeply, his voice rough from his slumber.
“Very well,” The maid spoke, her footsteps fading as she went down the hallway. Law swears he could see her curtsey just from her tone.
He turned his head to stare at the log beside him, brushing a hand through Luffy’s messy hair. He loved seeing his hair when he just woke, it made him look so adorab- silly. He meant silly.
“Wake up idiot, we have to get dressed.” He whispered atop his head, inhaling Luffy’s scent.
One thing Law had (not) been used to whenever he spent the night at Luffy’s was how his pheromones would engulf him like a thick, invisible blanket.
Law was always the first to wake, so he would be the first to get his pheromones under control, if needed. But Luffy, he’d need at least half an hour after waking up before he managed to put a lid on it.
A few minutes passed before Law finally managed to pull himself from Luffy. He rose from the bed, moving to the chair where he had placed his discarded waistcoat and pants.
Then it struck him, he didn’t take off his undershirt. He scowled at the crumpled sight.
“I should’ve taken it off,” he hissed under his breath, irritated at the message it may present. After all, he slept with his supposed boyfriend. in his bed. overnight.
He tugged on his pants, smoothing the undershirt in place as he stood before the window. The morning light streamed through, highlighting every wrinkle marred in the fabric.
He was about to start buttoning his waistcoat, when he paused, hands dropping to hold his waist with a short sigh as he shook his head.
The quiet in the room draped him, and though he usually wouldn’t mind, he was with Luffy. He knew there was no such thing as quiet time around him.
The faint rustling of the sheets drew his attention back to the sleeping beauty still in bed.
“Luffy.”
“Five more minutes. I’m comfy”
“You won’t be if Garp decides to drag you to breakfast himself.”
Luffy groaned in protest as he fluttered his eyes open with a pout.
“Up. Now.” Law pulled on his cheek.
Luffy pulled himself up with a fairly loud groan, sitting slump at the edge of the bed, rubbing his eyes. He watched quietly as Law buttoned his navy blue waistcoat over his, rather messy, white undershirt.
Law’s slender fingers caressed each button as they traced over them. Each slid under his fingers with ease, pressing carefully into place.
Almost as if he was in a hypnotic state, Luffy’s eyes traced Law’s arms as he trailed them to adjust the cuffs. Luffy swallowed hard, his throat felt tight as he began to imagine how they’d feel sliding in and out of his mou-
“You know, I didn’t wake you up to stare at me.” Law hummed with a smirk, not bothering to look up as he could feel Luffy’s eyes on him.
Luffy buried his face in his hands to hide his obviously flushed cheeks.
“I wasn’t staring. I–I was waiting for you to finish so you could help me get dressed.”
It wasn't his fault that every time he 'slept' with Law, he woke with a lingering exhaustion, like he could sleep for days with Law by his side.
He knew he wouldn’t have the energy to get dressed by himself and usually, a few of the palace’s maids would attend to him, but Law’s here so it’s his job.
Law chuckled softly as he raised his brows.
“Oh? I’m. deeply. sorry. Your Highness. My humblest apologies for making you wait a second longer.” Sarcasm dripped from his tone as he gestured to bow slightly before Luffy.
Luffy, now having his heart (and mind) under control, lifted his face to give a carefree grin.
Law stood before him, holding out a clean red shirt. Luffy began to take off his nightshirt, which made Law quickly tilt his head back, squeezing his eyes shut. ‘Christ’ he thought, struggling to control the urge to rip the shirt off and have them both miss breakfast.
“Right.. now my shirt.”
“Here—”
Law's eyes narrowed, immediately regretting his decision to entertain Luffy. He should’ve known what the mischievous little bastard meant.
Big brown eyes flickered between the shirt in Law’s hands and his face, staring as if he didn’t know what he was supposed to do with it.
Law sighed, choosing not to argue. He wouldn't win anyway.
“Arms up, Your Highness.”
“Too tired.”
Law proceeded to lift Luffy’s arms up himself, guiding them through the sleeves. He was past being shocked at Luffy’s spoiled nature, it was partly his fault anyway.
Law pulled him up by his arms to stand, adjusting the hem of the shirt before tugging it in place down Luffy’s waist.
His internal struggle only got fiercer when he looked down to see Luffy’s bare thighs. No way in hell he’s putting on his pants right now.
He was a bit annoyed at himself as usually he could do this while keeping his urges under tight restraint, but ever since yesterday, he had been finding it hard to control them.
‘Is it because of the change in our relationship? But it’s fake. It was an agreement on both ends so why do I feel like this?’ He thought, as he took up Luffy’s discarded pants to throw them at his face.
“Put them on yourself and hurry, I’ll be out the door.” He turned quickly to exit so he could calm himself.
Luffy pouted as he slipped into it, “Meanie.”
He pulled it up, tucking his shirt in to look a bit decent before heading towards the door.
“Reporting for duty sir. Presentable enough for breakfast.” Luffy said with a salute. Law smiled softly, ruffling his hair before they headed down the hallway.
It was already twenty-five minutes since they woke.
—
The moment they entered the dining hall, Law and Luffy were greeted with their families’ eyes set on them.
Seated for breakfast was Garp, Duke Trafalgar, Lami, Ace and Sabo, waiting patiently for the pair. Garp sat at the head of the table with Duke Trafalgar on the opposite end. To one side was Lami, Law’s older sister, seated between Ace and Sabo.
Garp and Duke Trafalgar had already briefed the siblings on their plan before the boys joined, letting them know what had really happened and what they were planning to do.
Being first–hand witnesses to their ‘friendship’ for their entire lives came with its perks as they quickly got the message.
“Given the years we’ve seen them together, it wouldn’t take much to understand the situation.” Sabo shrugged, gaining a hum in agreement from the table.
They had often eaten together, since their families were extremely close but Law and Luffy knew they must have all heard by now, given the tension looming in the room.
To make the already awkward situation worse, Law not returning home spoke volumes on its own. And him showing up with Luffy made it obvious that he spent the night.
Which really wasn’t planned.
After waking up in the library, Law was only trying to help Luffy to his room. He was fully intending to leave, but Luffy grabbed hold of his shirt, making a fuss about how late it was.
So, without putting on much of a fight, he obeyed and settled himself on Luffy’s bed.
They stepped towards the empty side of the dining table to take their seats.
Law moved with practiced ease despite the tension, pulling out a chair for Luffy to sit in. He followed suit, settling beside him—a gesture so routine, it was painfully ordinary even to the watchful eyes of others.
The maids and butlers moved swiftly, placing plates and pouring their desired beverage—from tea, to coffee, to orange juice.
The room remained quiet, outside of the soft clink of the dishes and scrapes of silverware against the porcelain. It had been far too long since they had shared a quiet meal together.
“Are you two really dating?” Lami spoke, breaking the silence.
Luffy, who was distracted by the butlers bringing in more plates of food, glanced over at Law, nudging him to answer.
“Yes, we are.” Law sighed.
“I don’t believe it.” she spat out.
“Then why ask?” Law cheekily retorted in between his bites, rolling his eyes.
“You’ve been together all your life, why would you suddenly start dating right after hearing about the marriage proposal?”
Tsk. She was just as quick thinking and perceptive as Law and he absolutely hated it when she used that trait against him.
“It wasn’t sudden. We were dating before but kept it hidden.” He shrugged. “We agreed to make it known after we heard that there were ridiculous talks to have my hand joined with another.” Law turned to glare at Garp. “That was it and nothing else.”
She hummed, amused at how stupid her brother was for being so smart yet thinking she would believe such an obvious lie.
Suddenly, the grand dining hall, usually a space for refinement and decorum, was thrown into chaos with one single, audacious question.
“So that means you’ve taken him to bed then?”
The reaction was immediate.
Sabo, mid-sip of his tea, sputtered violently, nearly tipping over his plate. Ace choked on a mouthful of food, coughing as he pounded his chest.
Even the usually unflappable butlers froze in their tracks, their eyes wide as they exchanged bewildered glances.
Lami, unfazed, leaned back in her chair with a self-satisfied smile, swatting away the hands of Ace and Sabo as they frantically nudged her on both sides.
“You’re both adults,” she continued, her gaze shifting between Law and Luffy.
“Luffy is 20, and you’re 23. You’re an alpha, and he’s an omega. Of course being in a relationship would mean you guys would desire more than just holding hands. Worse, you’ve been dating long before, so it would be odd to not have sex at this age.” She says slowly, brows arched.
Luffy’s face became flushed in an instant.
His cheeks, the tip of his ears, and the back of his neck turned a deep shade of scarlet, and the air around him thickened as his scent began to leak uncontrollably.
The sweet, floral aroma of his omega pheromones swept through the room like a tidal wave, causing every Alpha present to stiffen, even Garp and Duke Trafalgar, though all—but one—were seasoned enough to remain composed.
Beside him, Law was a mess.
The usually calm and collected alpha was visibly flustered, his pale skin betraying him with a faint pink flush as his golden eyes shifted to Luffy.
As soon as Luffy lost control of his pheromones it hit him. His jaw tightened as he clenched his fists against the table to maintain his composure.
“Lami!” Ace hissed, his tone frantic. “This isn’t what we meant when we said to help!”
“Yeah!” Sabo added, his voice a strained whisper. “Subtly, remember? Sub-tle! This is direct!”
Garp, on the other hand, erupted into hearty laughter, tears streaming down his face as he clutched his stomach. “That’s my girl!” he bellowed, clearly entertained.
Meanwhile, Duke Trafalgar merely sighed, shaking his head as he calmly sipped his tea. He muttered something under his breath about the impulsive nature of his children but otherwise remained silent.
Law, having regained enough of his composure, turned to Luffy and gave him a sharp tap on his forehead. “Hey.” he muttered, his voice low and firm, pointing his finger downward in a clear command. “Try to control your pheromones, Lu. Now.”
Luffy, still reeling from embarrassment, stammered incoherently, his hands palming his face as he tried to calm himself. “I–I can’t just! It’s not working!” he uttered, his voice small and clearly frustrated.
“Breathe.” Law spoke softly, his tone leaving no room for argument. Despite his own dilemma, he leaned closer, his presence commanding as always. “Focus. You’re making it worse.” He placed his hand on the small of Luffy’s back, rubbing it slowly to shift Luffy’s attention.
The firm yet softness of Law’s voice cut through Luffy’s state of mortification, and with a shaky exhale, he managed to rein in the torrent of pheromones.
The air lightened, and a collective sigh of relief swept through the room.
Lami, however, was undeterred, smiling brightly as she leaned her chin on her hand. “You didn’t answer the question, Law~” she teased in a singsong voice.
Law shot her a glare. “And I won’t.” he snapped, his tone laced with exasperation. He couldn’t say no but he also definitely couldn’t say yes.
The brothers struggled to recover, the atmosphere irreparably cracked. Sabo and Ace were both slumped forward, heads buried in their hands as they muttered about how this plan had spiraled out of control before it even began..
Garp, ever the instigator, leaned back in his chair with a grin. “Well,” he said, his voice loud enough to cut through the chaos. “At least now we know what’s on her mind.” He lifted his cup in the Duke’s direction.
Duke Trafalgar gave his friend a displeased look but didn’t comment, instead calling over one of the butlers to refill his cup.
“So?” she pressed, leaning forward with the confidence of someone who knew exactly how to rattle a Lion’s cage. “Aren’t you going to answer?”
Law’s expression darkened, his golden yellow eyes narrowing at her, “We are pretty much in public. At the table. With both families and the staff of the house present. Of course, I will not be answering that.”
Unbothered, Lami only leaned in further, her smirk widening. “Hmmm?” she hummed deeply, mischief dripping from her tone. Her eyes shifted to Luffy.
“Then how was it, Luffy? Losing your flower to such a disgrace of a man, one who dares to call himself my idiot brother?”
Luffy, who had barely recovered from the earlier chaos, looked up, his mouth opening to stammer out a response. But Law was quicker, shoving a piece of sausage from his plate in Luffy’s mouth, silencing him.
“Dad, tell Lami to shut up.”
Lami tilted her head, feigning ignorance.
“Why can’t you let Luffy speak? Are you his spokesperson?” Her smile resembled that of a Cheshire cat. “You’ve always been like this Law. overbearing, possessive. chasing away anyone who so much as looked at Luffy. I guess it’s no wonder he ended up with you. Who else could get close when you’re constantly looming over him? chasing away any eligible bachelors seeking him out.”
She paused, narrowing her eyes as she examined Luffy.
“But I see you haven’t tainted him yet,” she added. “I am smelling your scent on him, probably because you slept together, but he still strongly smells as beautiful as he looks, untouched and pure, regardless of the subtle hint of your stink.”
Luffy’s entire face burned red, his fists clenching in his lap as his scent started to shift again. Law’s composure was already barely holding on as his fingers tightened against the table. He lifted a hand, draping his fingers over his nose in a futile attempt to block out the overwhelming scent.
Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, Fuck. He chanted as the effort did little to help, stifling a quiet groan in his palm as his stomach twist.
Shit. He was about to leave the dining table with a fucking hard on, thanks La—
“Lami.”
The room fell silent as Duke Trafalgar finally spoke, his voice calm but laced with authority. His piercing gaze landed on his daughter, silencing her mid smirk.
Law sighed in relief. The Duke’s stern voice pulled Luffy from his state and he was able to calm down.
“That’s enough,” he said firmly, his tone allowing no argument. “You’ve made your point. We’ll allow them to speak on their own time, when they are ready.”
Across the table, Garp was doing a poor job at hiding his amusement, his shoulders shaking as he muffled his laughter with a napkin. Trafalgar shot him a glare, his lips twitching as he fought back his own smirk.
Lami leaned back in her chair with a shrug. “Fine.” she said, though the mischievous glint in her eyes remained. “But if they don’t start speaking soon, I might have to ask a few more questions.”
“Those were hardly questions Lami, more like accusations.” Sabo whispered beside her.
The tension in the room eased slightly, though Law’s sharp gaze remained locked on Lami, a silent warning to stay quiet.
Luffy, still red-faced, sank lower in his chair, wishing desperately for the ground to swallow him whole— after he finished his breakfast of course.
Garp finally gave in, letting out a loud laugh. “At least the kid knows how to keep things interesting!” he declared, earning a few chuckles from the staff.
The Duke sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose as he muttered, “Idiots. All of them.” But even he couldn’t entirely hide the glimmer of amusement in his eyes as he sipped his tea, the drama of the young couple serving as an unexpected source of entertainment.
—
After breakfast, the dining hall gradually emptied as they left to attend to their duties, leaving behind only the clink of cutlery being cleared away by the staff.
“Law,” Garp said, “I need a word.”
Luffy, already halfway to the door, paused and shot a wary glance at his grandfather. His brow furrowed in suspicion, clearly concerned about what Garp might say.
Garp waved him off dismissively. “I only need Law. Go on now.”
Reluctantly, Luffy left, gesturing to Law that he’d wait for him in the hall.
Law stood by the table, adjusting his vest, trying to stay calm while masking his curiosity and mild apprehension. Garp rarely pulled him aside like this unless it was for something serious—or for something utterly ridiculous.
This time, he hoped it was the latter.
The King wasted no time. Even though he knew about Law and Luffy’s whole ‘fake dating’ charade going on, after Lami’s little breakfast scene, he wanted to ensure they took the safe route—if they were planning to cross that bridge.
Garp was seasoned well enough to know that they were yet to.
He waved a hand vaguely as he spoke, “I can’t ignore the possibility that things might… shift between you two.”
Law tilted his head. Shift?
“As Lami said, you’re an alpha Law and Luffy’s your counterpart, an omega. You’re biologically wired to want to do, uhh, things with each other, and trust me, things can get messy if you’re not careful. I don’t want to be nursing a great grandbaby just because the two of you lost control.” Garp spoke, his tone blunt.
Law felt his stomach twist in mortification. Of all people, Garp was giving him this talk? His father, sure, the more responsible of the two, but Garp? Hell, even Lami was expected after the tantrum she threw earlier.
Law struggled to find a response, unsure whether to defend himself or dissolve—literally.
At times like this, he is reminded that Garp is The King and not just an irritating old man, and that Luffy is the ‘beloved Prince’ and not just his best friend.
“I know you’re smart,” Garp continued, undeterred by Law’s discomfort. “Probably already thought of all the steps. But. I also know the Law who goes stupid when it comes to my grandson. I can’t begin to imagine how freely you’d give in if you got overwhelmed by his pheromones. Your senses could go out the window.”
“You don’t even need to be under the influence to give in to his requests.” Garp shook his head. “So—” he pointed a finger at Law, “Make sure you both stay on birth control. I’m serious.” now pointing toward the door, “especially that stubborn idiot waiting right outside.”
Birth control was in the form of a drink or tincture– a syrup like liquid prepared by the doctors of their respective houses.
“Yes.” Law groaned, willing the heat from his face to fade. “I understand.”
“And one more thing,” Garp added, his tone turning unexpectedly more serious. “I trust that you will make the right decisions in your relationship but, just take care of Luffy.” He sighed, “I’m counting on you to do right by him.”
For once, Law couldn’t argue. He simply nodded, the weight of Garp’s words sinking.
“Good,” Garp grunted, rising from his chair. “Now go on before he comes storming back in.”
Law made his way to the door, where Luffy was already leaning impatiently against the frame, tapping a foot.
“What’d he say?”
“Nothing important,” Law muttered, brushing past him. “Let’s just go.” The lingering weight of Garp’s trust stayed with him, echoing in his head.
Luffy’s eyes narrowed, Law was acting… weird? What did—
Now worried, he dragged Law down the hall to his bedroom.
“Let’s have sex.” he said as soon as they entered the room, quickly shutting the door. “We can’t have them thinking— why did he— what if they find out and demand that you marry—” he stammered.
“Luffy.” Law interrupted. “Do you even know what you’re saying? Have sex? when we’ve only been dating for what, a day? not to mention it's fake.” His voice was calm and patient.
Luffy’s heart sank, he had hoped Law would stop mentioning that— that they were only ‘this’ because it was fake.
“I know it sounds too much.” He rolled his eyes, throwing his hands in the air to conceal his irritation, “but how else can we deter their doubts and have your scent on me as strongly without marking?”
Law flinched.
Marking.
The one thing Law had been trying to stop himself from doing on impulse.
The instinct gnawed at him relentlessly, a primal urge deep within him that he fought every single day the minute he turned eighteen.
It made being around Luffy painful, as he felt miserable whenever he thought about how his emotions were reduced to something animalistic, something beyond his control.
This is what led him to start doubting his feelings for Luffy.
What he had always believed to be love, was it truly that? Or was he not given a choice to begin with? Trapped by the unavoidable nature of his biology?
Spiraling thoughts drove him to frustration. His emotions no longer felt like his own and it was suffocating. The distinction between instinct and choice blurred more with every passing day, leaving him uncertain of where his feelings ended and where his biology began.
If it was love, shouldn’t it feel purer than this constant war inside him? Shouldn’t it be something he could confidently put a name to, free from doubt?
Ever since his instincts awakened, the urge to sink his teeth into the soft curve of Luffy’s nape, to claim him as his own, had become an overwhelming torment.
Of course, he wasn’t stupid enough to act on it.
He had no choice but to put it on a tight leash, restraining himself indefinitely. Luffy wasn’t some prize to be won or possession to be marked. He was so much more than that, and Law did not want him to become a victim of his desires.
Struggling with his inner conflict, Law had once tried to stay away from Luffy. He had done it before, when he had his first rut and when Corazon barred him from leaving the castle because he was sick.
It was then that he came to realize that as miserable as being near Luffy was, staying away was even worse.
He lasted only three days—three agonizing days.
From what he could feel, willingly avoiding Luffy was so strange that every second apart from him felt like a fire held to his heart, scorching his resolve to ash.
Disgust festered within him at how easily his body betrayed him. He needed Luffy’s presence. He needed his scent, his warmth— he needed him so, so much.
The guilt of knowing that Luffy deserved more consumed him daily— a best friend who would love him wholeheartedly, without reducing him to his mere biology.
And yet, even in his self-doubt, Law couldn’t imagine a life without Luffy.
Despite every effort to suppress his feelings, one truth remained clear— He would never allow anyone else near Luffy.
No matter how fragile his self-control became, he would never stop protecting Luffy from the lustful alphas.
Even if he was ‘no better than them’, he was. Law trusted himself more to endure the agony and constantly battle within him, rather than stoop to the level of those revolting vermin.
That was how he managed to maintain a small sense of peace within himself, giving birth to his self-delusion. It was better this way, for Luffy’s sake.
He knew that even if what he felt wasn’t pure love, it was better than anyone else could ever give Luffy.
He would hold himself accountable.
He would never forgive himself if he became the very thing that hurt the one he ‘loved’.
No matter how fierce his desires burned, his feelings for Luffy, instinct or not, demanded restraint.
Nonetheless, Law couldn’t deny that Luffy had good intentions when he mentioned they should have sex as a means of scenting. It made sense in the grand scheme of things.
Either commit fully into creating the illusion of a ‘serious’ relationship or get married to Monet. He shuddered at the latter option.
After all, simply spending time with each other wouldn’t cut it anymore. They already spent almost every day together and that familiarity had become routine to those around them.
If he wanted to convince their families— or rather, the entire island— that what he had with Luffy was more than a surface-level convenience, they would have to act the part of being a pair bonded by more than friendship.
A couple bonded through scenting.
For Alphas and Omegas, the act of scenting was not just a sign of affection but also their intimacy.
It was a declaration to the world and a warning to others who threatened their bond.
There are three forms in which a couple could leave their scent on one another, each varying in intensity and duration.
The first and most casual form was scenting by touch, achieved by spending time in close proximity, while purposely releasing pheromones. This could be as simple as hugging, cuddling, or even kissing.
While effective for short periods, the effects were transient—lasting only a few hours, six at most. It was subtle, barely noticeable to others unless they were nearby, but it provided a brief reassurance of the couple’s connection.
The second form, scenting by intimacy, was far more potent and semi-permanent.
This required the exchange of body fluids during any kind of sexual act. As long as the alpha’s fluids were passed onto the omega, or the omega’s onto the alpha, the scent would linger for days, sometimes weeks, depending on how much was exchanged and for how long.
It was impossible to miss.
The scent of the alpha on the omega, and vice versa, would be so strong that even if only one of the pair were present in a room, it would be as if both were there.
This type of scenting served as a loud and unmistakable signal: both were taken.
If either of them were in or nearing their peak—an alpha his rut or an omega his heat—their pheromones during scenting would be even stronger.
Then, there was Marking. Biting the nape of an omega.
This was the ultimate form of scenting, formed only when the alpha’s intent is strong, pure and unwavering.
A permanent, irreversible act.
Marking not only left a physical mark but also bonded the couple on a primal level. It was the loudest declaration of love and possession, a signal to the world that they belonged to each other.
For the alpha and omega, this step was monumental, not just biologically but emotionally and socially.
Once an omega was marked, they could never be claimed by another.
The mark that remained after the bite was distinct, resembling a birthmark— a deep red spot that appeared at the nape of the omega’s neck once the wound healed. It was a physical representation of the bond shared between an alpha and their omega.
The size of the mark varied, reflecting the strength of the connection. The larger the mark, the stronger the bond.
In rare cases, it was said that alphas could feel the emotions of their omegas, even when they were miles apart.
Fear, joy, pain— everything their omega experienced would echo faintly in their minds as their hearts mirrored every pain, laughter or sadness felt.
Each form carried its own weight and—especially the last two—their own risks, and Law considered them all. He knew that the closer they came to any of these steps, the harder it would be to separate truth from pretense.
Luffy pulled him from his thoughts.
“We spend almost all our days together and I still smell like, well, me. So how else would we solve this?” He continued.
Law remained silent, annoyed at the fact that Luffy was right, and he couldn’t deny it. They could always just cuddle while sharing pheromones.. But once Law started emitting pheromones, the first thought of his was to head to the bed...
“We’ll think about it some more.” he sighed, moving towards Luffy who had his back planted to the door.
“After all, we can’t just suddenly start having sex. They’ll know we did it just because of what Lami said.” Law reached over to pinch his cheeks, kissing his now furrowed brows. “Okay?”
“...Sure.” Luffy quietly agreed, not wanting the gentle action to end. “Pinky promise that we'll do that.” He whispered with his pinky up.
Law chuckled, Luffy often had this childish side to him. Asking for a pinky promise whenever he wanted to ensure that Law stayed true to his word.
“I promise that we’ll think about it.” Law says, with his pinky hooked around Luffy’s.
As he was about to pull away his hand to take a step back, Luffy wrapped his fingers around his wrists, stopping him.
“But.” Luffy drawled, looking down at the space between them.
Law raised a questioning brow.
“At least...” Luffy swallowed shakingly, feeling the weight of Law’s eyes on him, “A-At least try kissing me… on my lips this time.” He practically whispered the last bit.
Oh?
Oh.
Law felt arousal pooling in his stomach again. If they were inevitably going to have sex, then—
He brushed one palm against Luffy’s cheek, placing the other firmly against the door beside his head, moving so close their noses touched.
“Yeah?” Law whispered softly.
Luffy released his wrist to glide his hands across Law’s chest, pulling his waistcoat until he leaned against him. He simply nodded.
And that was all Law needed.
He slid his hand to the back of Luffy’s neck, up in his hair, holding it gently. He brought his other hand from the door, brushing Luffy’s side as he dragged him closer by the waist.
Slowly, hesitantly, their lips met. Their breaths tangled into a deep, slow kiss, gliding their lips across the other’s, melting into the warmth.
‘So fucking sweet’ Law thought, Luffy tasted sweeter than he looked.
A hint of regret rose in the back of his throat as he knew, after this moment, tasting Luffy would be a must have on their ‘fake relationship’ menu.
“Open up.” Law breathed.
Luffy whimpered as Law licked into his mouth. Caressing his tongue as they sank deeper and deeper into the waves of their first kiss.
And then, it struck him.
The scent he rarely had the luxury of smelling, as it was always carefully concealed. Law’s pheromones—his scent. The one he’d spent years unknowingly craving.
The delicate yet powerful scent.
The fresh, coastal chypre with alluring undertones of jasmine. A woody and earthy aroma.
It sent shivers down his spine, mudding his thoughts, stirring emotions he tried desperately to keep in check.
He wished Law would bask him in his scent, engulfing him completely like a warm blanket. It made him feel so safe, so protected and so, so horny.
Luffy lifted his arms to wrap around Law’s neck, threading his fingers through soft strands of his silky hair. He could feel the steady rhythm of Law’s breath in his mouth, tasting the only one he has ever yearned for.
He wanted more—he needed more.
Yet he had to stifle the urge to climb into Law’s arms and wrap his legs tight around him. He had already been turned down once for the day, he couldn’t handle a second time.
He knew Law only said they should ‘think about it’ because he’s simply too nice, not wanting to outright decline. He knew he should’ve gotten the memo and let Law leave, but he just couldn’t. He’d rather die than spend another second without something more.
Gathering every ounce of courage he had, he swallowed hard, his throat tight with nervousness, but he did it, he asked for a kiss. Not his usual forehead kisses, much more than that.
He was bracing himself for rejection, but then… Law’s eyes, what was it? and before he knew it, Law agreed. He wasn’t expecting him to, but he sure as hell wasn’t going to complain.
‘Yeah?’ Luffy was the surest he had ever been. He couldn’t risk having Law second guessing his response, so he quickly pulled him in, offering a nod as he tried to suppress the urge to suck Law’s lips to show how sure he really was.
Fuck, if Law miraculously changed his mind and wanted to have sex the very next minute, he’d undoubtedly say yes— a million times, yes.
Their kiss grew messier as the world blurred around them. Tongues crashing into each other. Bruising lips as they both desperately tried to drink as much of the other’s juices.
An unquenchable thirst.
They couldn’t have enough.
If only they could stay like this forever. But–
Luffy withdrew with a soft groan, trying to catch his breath. Law remained close, littering feather light kisses all over the omega’s face. There was a small voice telling him to contain himself. ‘It was only one kiss.’ But he couldn’t pull away just yet, sliding his lips across Luffy’s cheeks to give him quick pecks against the corner of his lips.
It’s— just three months. He’ll indulge in (some of) his desires for the three months and then it’ll be like nothing ever happened. Just–
His mind went blank when Luffy pressed his lips against his again, almost as if he wanted this too.
Law tightened his grip around his waist, gliding his lips against Luffy’s to match his pace, pulling him in even closer— pressing Luffy’s small frame against his.
Their bodies didn’t feel close enough. He wanted to rip his clothes off, maybe then he’ll feel somewhat satisfied. To feel his soft skin against his–
Law shuddered, slowing the kiss to pull away with a shaky breath. His forehead pressed against Luffy’s, squeezing his eyes shut as he tried to calm himself.
It’s happening again.
The instinct he barely had under control was clawing its way through his veins. A single kiss was all it took for him to forget what he had vowed.
‘But his pheromones were everywhere.’
They didn’t even have sex.
‘Damn it, that old man was right.’
The weight of responsibility was pressing down on him. But so what?
He dipped his head, nuzzling his face in the crook of Luffy’s neck, not wanting to separate just yet.
As if Luffy was thinking the same thing,
“Do you... maybe want to sleep over again tonight?”
Law titled his head back to look down on him. Was he–
Noticing the look in Law’s eyes, Luffy playfully rolled his eyes, a teasing smirk crept on his face. “I’m not gonna jump you and ask you to have sex Law, I understood your fears earlier.” He waved him off. “Just to sleep. Like we always do.”
Law wasn’t too sure if after that kiss he’d be able to just sleep. But since he voiced his reluctance to the idea of having sex earlier, he couldn’t possibly have his urges get the best of him now. Damn his fucking mouth.
“Sure.” He muttered, loosening his grip on Luffy. “You shower first, I’ll need…” He sighed, “…clothes, so I’ll speak with Corazon to have a few taken here.”
'A few?' Luffy thought, trying to hide his obvious blush. “Alrighty!” he chirpily responded, forcing a carefree smile.
Law returned a smile as he stepped back quickly, shifting on his heel to exit the room.
Hearing Law’s footsteps receding, Luffy took four steps towards his bed before his legs gave out, curling into a ball on the floor. The urges he was trying so hard to suppress had worn him out.
“Shit.” He groaned, “I’m so fucking hard.”
A knock came after a couple seconds of Luffy trying to calm himself down, “Do you want me to start your bath, Your Highness?” Talk about great timing.
“Yes please. And when Law returns,” Luffy took a short breath to compose himself, “…have another prepared for him. He’ll be staying the night.”
—
After walking for what felt like hours, narrowly avoiding all staff, Law was now sure he distanced himself far enough from Luffy.
Don’t look down, don’t look down, don’t look down.
He dashed into the nearest bathroom, thudding his head on the door as he closed it shut.
“Fuck, I feel like I’m going to burst.” He chuckled, shaking his head.
A minute longer and he would’ve thrown away all resolve to beg for Luffy’s consent.
Chapter 3: Of Chains and Choices
Summary:
Corazon Rosinante’s Interlude
Law buried it beneath reason, convincing himself that what he felt was nothing more than instinct.
An unavoidable reaction to proximity, to familiarity.
That Luffy was simply the only one who had ever been close enough to draw out such feelings from him.
‘Hidden’ feelings as seen in the eyes of a close viewer.

Chapter Text
Corazon had been around Law since the day he was born, the man second only to his father in the Trafalgar House.
He was the only one close enough to see the young master’s true personality.
The real Law hidden behind that ’impenetrable fortress.’
Other nobles often mistook his silence for indifference.
But for those who knew him, they knew how unintentionally playful he was.
The warmth in his smiles, the kind of person who found clever ways to lighten a heavy mood.
Still, Corazon never bothered to correct others on their opinions of Law’s character. He knew that if he were them, that’s how he too would’ve seen Law.
After all, the little shit was a tough cookie to others he classified as mere extras in his life.
Just another person with a non-speaking role, unless he decided to hand them a script.
Law didn’t care otherwise either, how others viewed him. It never mattered to him. As long as it wasn’t in a way that would harm his reputation.
But Corazon knew that Law wasn’t as unreadable as everyone believed.
One look at him and he could see the subtle shifts in Law’s expressions.
How he’d raise his eyebrows when he heard something questionable.
How his face would light up with genuine curiosity when he heard something truly intriguing.
How his eyebrows would relax and the faintest smile would form on his face when someone told a joke.
How his teases were never just that, but a display of care—finding peace in bringing a smile on his families’ faces.
How, despite his preference for solitude, he’d listen to every rant, complaint or ramble, simply because he saw how important it was to the other person.
How, despite Law acting like he doesn’t care, he would be the first to notice when something’s wrong and the first to quietly fix it without saying a thing.
—
When Law turned nine, Corazon’s role shifted from personal guard to guardian.
He was no longer just the figure standing in the background, ensuring Law ate his meals and completed his studies. He was now responsible for shaping him into the man he would one day become.
With this newfound role, he quickly transitioned into his role of being Law’s mentor.
Law took to learning like second nature, so it was easy for Corazon in that regard. He absorbed everything, from the intricacies of court politics to the responsibilities of a noble house.
He taught Law everything he knew, filling in where the Duke couldn’t.
The Duke was a good man, but he had a country to help rule, and a King who demanded more of him than his own children ever did.
He wasn’t an absent father, no—he was a great father.
Law and Lami grew up in a loving and happy home, as their earlier years were spent with him, running around the castle as they played endlessly.
But as they grew older, things began to change.
When Law turned four and Lami, seven, they began to see less and less of their father.
A new King was appointed from what they were told, and their father now had a new position, so he would be spending more time away from home.
Law never held it against him.
Lami certainly didn’t.
It was simply the way things were as nobles of such ranks.
‘Duty above desire,’ even if the desire was to be with one’s children.
Luckily, his children were far too clever for their age, so they quickly understood and accepted the reasons for his absence.
Though, that didn’t mean they liked it. They simply adapted, as they were taught to do.
They never hated him for it. In fact, they were proud to have a father that was well respected.
So respected and intelligent that he was always needed, even if that meant he would be away from them most of the time.

The halls of the Trafalgar estate were quiet at night.
Despite the Duke’s demanding responsibilities, he made it his duty to be present in his children’s lives, even if it was simply to see them before they went to bed.
Whenever he returned home from the capital, his first stop once he exited his carriage was their rooms.
Corazon walked a few paces behind him, keeping a respectful distance as the man made his usual rounds.
It was a well-known sight among the staff, the Duke’s quiet steps down the dimly lit halls.
First, Lami’s room.
He eased the door open, looking with content at his sleeping daughter.
She was almost always asleep, curled up with her favorite teddy bear. Her small frame, despite being an Alpha, barely making a dent in the oversized bed.
With practiced care, he adjusted her blankets, brushing the curls from her forehead as he pressed a kiss before stepping back with a satisfied smile.
Then, he moved to Law’s.
Heading to Law’s room was always a gamble.
Unlike his sister, Law often tried to fight against sleep, waiting tirelessly to see his father.
At times, his tiny body would sit upright in bed, his head swaying back and forth as exhaustion overtook him.
His father would sigh, a small, fond smile forming at his lips as he gently laid Law back down.
Other times, Law was still awake—barely.
With heavy-lidded eyes and a head nodding forward before snapping up again, Law would begin his battle to stay up as he waited for the doors to open with his father peeking through.
Seeing Law awake, the Duke would huff a quiet, affectionate laugh before moving toward his bed.
Corazon, who often stood by the door, would see how Law’s face lit up when he managed to stay awake long enough to see his father during his nightly rounds.
He knew that it made Law upset when he woke in the mornings to realize that he had slept through the night, which would often lead to the entire staff walking on eggshells around the snappy young alpha.
Corazon would hear Law’s muffled sobs buried in his pillows. The frustrated sniffles as he scolded himself for falling asleep and missing the chance to see his father, having to wait for yet another night.
“You don’t have to wait up for me,” his father whispered, running a hand through Law’s unruly hair as he pulled the covers up over his son’s shoulders.
Despite saying this, he was happy whenever he arrived at Law’s room to find him awake.
“I had a bet to win,” Law grumbled, “Lami said I wouldn’t be able to stay up.”
“Oh? So it wasn’t because you wanted to see me?” The Duke teased with a fake pout.
Law blushed, covering his face with his sheets as he muttered a soft, “T–That was a part of it too yes,” trying to hide the fact that he missed his father.
The duke would laugh heartily at his cheeky son, ruffling Law’s hair as he settled beside him to put him to sleep.
Law always had a bunch of questions to ask him. Whether it was about his day, about something new he learnt from Corazon or happened to read in one of the books from the library.
He found it cool how his father seemed to know everything.
Corazon had witnessed these moments countless times, always standing just outside the door, ensuring the duke could have these rare, precious minutes undisturbed.
He knew that Law was nothing more than a child who desired much more than he would allow himself. Learning to hide his feelings as young as he was.
He cared deeply for Law, developing an inseparable bond with the young alpha.
When he took over Law’s care entirely due to the duke’s unavailability, he would remember these nights.
Law had a habit of keeping people at an arm’s length, so Corazon would remember the way Law clung to the ones he considered his own. How he’d want them around, even if he said otherwise simply out of consideration.
Most of all, he would remember how that same boy opened up so easily to one person.
To the little prince of the Goa Palace, to Luffy.
Law let him in without even realizing it. And from that moment, Corazon knew there would be no turning back.
He watched them become more and more tangled with each other as they spent their days together.
He watched the boy grow from a stubborn child to a headstrong young man, and through all those years, Law had been tethered to Luffy, whether he wanted to admit it or not.
At first, it was subtle.
Law would find excuses to linger whenever the young prince was around. A glance here, searching eyes whenever Luffy’s laughter rang through the halls.
Corazon noted the way Law’s entire demeanor shifted, how his composure wavered in the presence of the little omega.
In those moments, it became undeniable that Law’s attachment to Luffy grew into something far beyond friendship.
Even as Law tried to pretend otherwise, suppressing his instincts, forcing himself to keep a distance, Corazon saw through the obvious cracks in that facade.
He saw the way Law’s gaze darkened when another alpha stood too close.
The way his entire body tensed whenever Luffy smiled at someone else for a second too long.
The way his sharp tongue only ever seemed to soften when speaking to Luffy.
He saw the way Law’s shoulders would relax when Luffy was near him.
How his eyes softened in a way they never did for anyone else.
He had watched Law falter, watched his hands clenched at his sides when Luffy’s attention wavered elsewhere.
He watched Law’s self-control wane every time Luffy came too close.
He had seen how Law would memorize every little laugh, every one of the prince’s habits, his moods, his fleeting expressions.
Corazon had been at the root of Law’s poor attempts at trying to avoid the little prince.
He had been left waiting several times for the young master to return home, just to be told by Law that he was ‘trapped’ at the royal palace… even though his face said otherwise.
It was devotion, or some may say, borderline obsession.
Possession.
That’s what it was.
And yet, Law refused to acknowledge it.
Law buried it beneath reason, convincing himself that what he felt was nothing more than instinct.
An unavoidable reaction to proximity, to familiarity.
That Luffy was simply the only one who had ever been close enough to draw out such feelings from him.
Corazon, for all his wisdom, never said a word about it.
He knew Law too well. He knew that acknowledging it would only make Law retreat and push Luffy away rather than risk his feelings being exposed.
So he remained silent, watching as Law fought his feelings, as he denied himself over, and over, and over again.
Corazon often thought that if fated mates were to ever exist, if there were truly such a thing as souls bonded together before they even had a choice in the matter, that would be Law and Luffy.
Law could convince himself that what he felt wasn’t love, that he wasn’t meant to belong to Luffy the way the stars belonged to the sky.
But Corazon had seen the way Law looked at him.
And there was no mistaking it.
So when he delivered the news of the arranged proposal, he expected an immediate rejection.
He was expecting Law to scoff at the very suggestion of an arranged marriage, especially one involving Monet, or anyone from the Doflamingo family.
An immediate dismissal, maybe even a look of disgust.
He had already planned to brush it off, to reassure Law that he would handle the matter.
But then Law? Well, he hesitated.
A rare pause.
A moment of silence long enough to make Corazon raise his brows.
Oh? He thought with narrowed eyes.
He had never seen Law hesitate before.
In all the years he had been with him—through childhood tantrums, gruelling lessons, and the decisiveness that had made him into the man he was today—Law had never been one to hesitate.
He calculated, he analyzed, he acted, but he did not hesitate.
Corazon watched as Law’s brows furrowed, his face saying all the things he wouldn’t dare to.
He didn’t sneer, didn’t scoff, didn’t lash out in irritation. Instead, he went utterly still, eyes fixed ahead like he was somewhere else entirely.
Law’s expression cracked just enough for Corazon to catch a glimpse of something.
Panic.
He waited for Law to pull himself together, but the silence stretched too long.
Cora cleared his throat, holding back a laugh. “Law, I know you’d never agree, so I’ll make the necessary arrangements to cancel—”
Then softly, so softly he almost thought he imagined it— Law muttered, “Luffy.”
Law’s first thought wasn’t of Monet or the fact that he was literally being set up for an unwanted marriage.
It was of Luffy.
As expected. Corazon scoffed.
“Sorry?” pretending he hadn’t heard.
Law didn’t even seem to realize he’d said it. His expression was distant, something unreadable flickering in his eyes.
Law blinked, as if snapping back to the present.
“Get our horses,” he ordered in a breathy voice. “We’ll return to the royal palace immediately.”
It was always Luffy.
No matter how much Law convinced himself that staying away was the best course of action, no matter how much he lied to himself about not wanting more, Luffy was always the exception.
Luffy would always be the one to break down his poorly built walls.
Corazon wanted to stop him.
Wanted to grab him by the shoulders and shake sense into him.
Or maybe hit him.
Demand Law to think things through instead of storming off to the palace to be in the presence of the one who had the most control over him.
He wanted Law to think about what this meant and actually consider his feelings, but he knew nothing would come of it.
He knew Law could only ever come to realize what he truly has on his own accord, even if it was after he had lost it all.
So instead, Corazon let out a heavy sigh, rubbing the bridge of his nose. He hummed in agreement, turning away as Law strode ahead, his steps more urgent than usual.
“Understood.” Cora huffed in frustration. He knew better than to try and convince Law when his mind had already been set.
He had spent years watching Law sabotage his own happiness, and he could see exactly where this was heading.
Because if he knew anything, it was that Law would always choose what he thought was best for Luffy, even if it meant breaking both their hearts.
Even if it meant destroying himself in the process.
Scene 3: What lies ahead
When they arrived at the palace and he finally caught up to Law after he sprinted from the carriage to find Luffy, hearing the words Date Me was far more than what he was expecting, but as Law rambled on, Corazon knew he was about to make his greatest mistake yet.
Fake dating would never work between these two.
Not unless they kept it as how they were now, without allowing themselves to taste what or how it would feel to be in a ‘relationship’ with each other.
If they were to share even a kiss, it would either be an awakening for the two or a recipe for disaster.
Notes:
I was contemplating if I should upload this <(_ _)> hence the long wait.. (it was a short chapter so I finished pretty fast -_- scold me...).
I was gonna scrap this so I was working on chapter 4 (which would have been chapter 3 yk) and upload it instead but I ended up keeping this.... so due to my procrastination, I'm almost done with 4 lol expect that soon! **yayyy!**I really wanted to give an insight into Law's character from someone outside of his immediate family (since Cora is family to him) or Luffy.
Someone who watched the young heir grow and could recount the events that contributed to his character and what led Law to be the way he is. Also to show the relationship between him and Corazon which will be important in the coming chapters. :)So this was my little way of showing how our awkward little baby boy became so reserved and found it easier to hide whatever it is he’s feeling. thinking it would be better for the other person if he didn’t voice his emotions... even at such a young age :(
Poor baby? Poor baby! Let mama hug you. Everyone give him a hug!
Chapter 4: Not so New Beginnings

Chapter Text
Scene 4: A step closer
Luffy settled in his bath, not wanting to come out.
The warm water and soft bubbles calmed him.
He definitely wasn’t thinking about Law.
Why would he?
Law?
What Law?
The bath is nice, the water is nice, the oxygen is nice, the bubbles are nice…
Did he say the bath is nice?
Yes. yes of course, he nodded firmly, the kiss was nice too—
“Ugh.” He muttered, sinking lower until the water reached just below his nose.
Okay.. Maybe he was thinking about Law.
How could he not?
He just shared a kiss with his first and only ever crush.
Sure it wasn’t your ‘typical relationship’, but what if this could lead to something more?
What if Law actually came to like him outside of just being friends and they could make their ‘relationship’ real? Luffy blushed at the thought, a love struck grin spreading across his face.
“Aaaa, he’s just too cute!” He flailed in the bath, splashing water everywhere in excitement.
A worrying “Your Highness! Are you alright?!” came from the panicked voice just outside the door.
“Sorry!” he muttered, muffled by the bath water.
“How could I not want more?” his heart thudded in his chest. “He’s all I ever wanted,” his finger poked the bubbles at the edge of the tub.
Then he suddenly sat upright, water sloshing over the edges as he clutched his chest dramatically.
“I never thought I’d say this but thanks Monet,” he said, placing a hand over his heart as if bestowing her with some great honor.
“Who knew such a pest would be this useful?” He nodded to himself, pleased with his own revelation.
But now— now he had a serious problem.
“What to do?” He groaned, splashing water on his face. “I know I was the one who asked him to stay over but… how should we sleep? Like normal? What is even normal anymore???”
He gasped, “What. Should. I. Wear?!”
He paused for a moment before abruptly shaking his head, giggling as he shrugged. “Luffy, don’t be silly.” he mocked, running a hand through his wet hair.
It wasn’t like this was his first time sleeping in the same bed with Law, so why was his heart racing so much? Why couldn’t he stop thinking about the kiss earlier?
“Am I thinking about this too much? Law would say,” he cleared his throat before mimicking Law’s usual deadpan tone, “You idiot, just go to bed.”
He slid down the tub, hands gripping both sides.
“Law would be all calm about it, composed, like the little lord he is. Completely unaffected by any of this” He mumbled before sinking fully beneath the water, his dark hair floating around him.
‘What is Law even doing right now?’
—
Law was everything but calm.
After spending an unnecessary amount of time in the bathroom trying to calm himself and put a lid on his pheromones, he finally stepped outside, only to find Corazon chatting it up with the yardmen.
The moment Corazon saw him, his grin widened.
“To what do I owe the honor of My Lord coming to see me right after releasing himself from his ‘trap’?” He teased, wiggling his brows.
“Shut up.” Law muttered, rolling his eyes. “I need… some clothes. I won’t be returning home tonight.”
“Just for tonight?” Corazon tilted his head in amusement.
“Cora.” Law glared at him.
“Kidding, kidding~” he laughed. “I’ll get them for you.”
“Thanks. Give it to the first person you see when you return and head back. Your old bones must need some rest” Law smirked.
That earned him a solid slap up the head.
“Ow!”
“By any chance… does this have anything to do with what went down at breakfast this morning.” Corazon asked.
Law froze, the tip of his ears turning red as he replayed what the conversation at breakfast led to. He kissed Luffy. An act he never thought he’d get to experience in this lifetime.
“N–No.” He quickly turned his face, waving Corazon off. “It’s just one of our regular sleepovers.”
Corazon hummed knowingly. “In the same bed~?” he teased in a playful voice.
Law flinched, slowly looking around like his joints needed oiling. “I–I’m not sure,” his voice quieter.
“C’mon, why so tense Law?” Corazon leaned in, “It is one of your ‘regular sleepovers’ right? Don’t you usually sleep in the same bed without a second thought? What’s got you overthinking now?”
Law always found him insufferable.
“One more word and I’m telling Dad to replace you.” Law stormed off.
Corazon laughed all the way back to the carriage. “He’s so easy to read. So that happened huh?” he gestured to the footman, as he entered the carriage. “How interesting.”
—
Law walked back slowly to Luffy’s chambers but was stopped mid hall. One of the maids had told him that the bath Luffy requested for him was ready.
Corazon would take at least forty minutes. Perhaps he could use that time to clean up as he waits for his clothes. After all, not seeing Luffy so soon would do wonders for his self control.
Law followed the maid diligently, entering the room with a slight nod of thanks as he spoke, “Corazon will be dropping off some clothes for me. Please carry it here once you’ve received it.”
“Duly noted My Lord.”
He closed the door with a soft click, sealing himself inside the private bath.
Law stripped down, entering the bath with a hiss. Luffy had a habit of bathing in hot water, so the maids got used to preparing the baths to his preference, a little too hot for Law’s taste.
But it may just be what he needs right now. A hot bath to burn away these thoughts.
Outside of their kiss, they weren’t doing anything remotely new. Sleeping together was something they often did, although it wasn’t really planned out like this. It usually just happened, if they got too comfortable to move.
So why did he feel like this right now? Why did he find it so hard to calm himself down?
“I’m so stupid.” He mumbled, throwing his head back. Luffy was doing all this just for him, yet all he could do was think about himself and his desires.
“I should at least try to act like I usually do. I can’t have him forcing himself to have sex with me just because he thinks it’ll help with me not getting married off.” Law sighed.
But how could he act normal? He got the chance to kiss the one he wanted— needed the most. It would be unfair to think he’d be able to stay calm under these conditions. His pheromones even leaked, which was unlike him.
“He’s just too adorable.” Law sighed, sliding down to rest his head on the back of the tub. “Who knew he’d be so…” He closed his eyes, “so sweet, like a god damn candy.”
Now that he got a taste of Luffy, he knew that it would be hard to act like he didn’t want more.
He usually felt like he could cum just by the feeling of holding Luffy in his arms. Having kissed him now, it’s so much fucking worse.
“…”
“Ngh, down boy.” he crossed his legs, shutting off the ‘I want to fuck him’ thoughts creeping in the back of his head.
“Who needs sleep anyway? I’ll just stay up.” Not like he could sleep after all that.
He soaked for a few more minutes, his mind finally clearing up, allowing him to think outside of Luffy—or rather, fucking him.
“Corazon should be here soon.”
—
“I can’t leave this bathroom.”
Luffy had been standing in front of the mirror for over ten minutes now. He hadn’t been able to gather his composure to face Law again.
“He left so sudden. Did I make him mad?”
“No of course he wasn’t,” he shook his head. “He would furrow his brows like this if something displeased him,” pointing waving fingers at his eyebrows.
Luffy kept muttering as he paced back and forth in the bathroom.
“I need to calm down. I need to calm down. I need to calm down. I need to calm down.” He voiced repeatedly.
A sudden knock at the door jolted him from his spiraling thoughts.
“Yes?!”
“You-your highness? You’ve been in there for quite some time. Do you need help with anything?”
“N-No… I’m sorry. I’ll be out soon.” He said quietly, in an apologetic voice. “You may leave for the night.”
“I really need to calm down.” Luffy huffed, dragging his palms down his face.
He finally managed to pull himself from the bathroom, water dripping from the ends of his hair as he made his way slowly down the hall to his room.
The air was cooler outside the bath, sending a slight shiver down his spine.
As he pushed opened the door, his eyes landed on Law.
He was standing in front of the window, hands in his pajama pant’s pockets, turning at the sound of the door opening, meeting Luffy’s eyes.
“Wow, you still have skin? I thought you were washing it off with how long you stayed in the bath.” Law gasped, mock surprise on his face.
‘Nervous for what?’ Luffy narrowed his eyes at Law’s remark. It was just as if nothing happened, he exhaled a breath softly, relieved.
“Yeah yeah shut up,” Luffy muttered, waving him off as he moved toward the closet, “I was... having a moment. It takes quite some time to look this pretty.”
Law snorted as Luffy pulled out the clean cover he asked for earlier. “Oh please, spare me the jokes.”
“Here.” He tossed it on the bed, “I should just let you sleep on the floor.”
“You ask me to be of company, only to threaten me? Is this how you treat your guests?” Law raised a brow, holding his chest as if he took offense.
Law was happy they could still joke around like this, without being awkward. Thankfully he was worried for nothing.
Luffy rolled his eyes. “I’m pretty sure you’re not considered a guest, idiot.”
“I guess I should just ask for another room then?”
Luffy froze, slowly pulling out a towel to dry his hair. He quickly cleared his throat, “You’re annoying, you know that?” bringing his hands to focus on drying his hair.
Law chuckled as he stepped closer to Luffy, plucking the towel from his hands.
“I’m sorry, let me help.” He said, his voice stripped of its teasing.
He slipped his free hand into Luffy’s, pulling him to sit nestled between his legs on the bed bench, while he sat behind on the edge of the bed.
Law looked down at Luffy’s hair dripping onto his shoulders through his nightshirt. It was obvious that he barely bothered to dry himself off.
“You really should dry your hair properly. You’re going to catch a cold if you keep it wet like this.”
Luffy hummed in response, unconcerned, as the towel landed on his head. Law’s hands followed, rough yet careful as they worked through his hair, rubbing away the lingering moisture.
“I could’ve done it myself you know.”
“Then why didn’t you?” Law countered, ignoring the glare shot at him as he continued ruffling Luffy’s hair in slow, circular motions.
Luffy leaned back into Law’s lap, his eyes fluttering shut as his body relaxed.
“How long has it been since you got a haircut?” Law asked, running his fingers through the strands as he dried them.
Luffy opened one eye, “Hmm when was the last time you dragged me to get one?”
Law scoffed, shaking his head. “That long huh?” He eased Luffy’s head up out of his lap.
“I should’ve known. You never go unless I make you.” He sighed, inspecting the ends of his hair. “Marguerite and Porche would love to make braids in your hair like they did when you were a baby.”
Luffy snickered, “they would love that yes.”
Law finished up quickly, tossing the damp towel onto Luffy’s lap. “There. All done, don’t be so careless next time and dry it properly before you come to your room.” He said as he brushed a few stray strands from his forehead.
Luffy blinked up at him, eyes slightly hazy with heavy lids, “Too bad. I might make it a habit now.”
Law clicked his tongue, moving up on the bed, pulling the covers Luffy threw earlier beside him. He could see that Luffy was tired just by his eyes.
“Put that away and come to bed.” Law said.
Luffy walked lazily towards his chest of drawers, placing the towel on top of it. He made a mental note to put it in his laundry basket as soon as he woke in the morning.
He made it halfway onto the bed, flopping forward, arms spread wide.
Law sighed at the act, pulling the sheets free to make a space for Luffy to lay beside him, “Come.”
Luffy snuggled into his spot as Law tugged the covers over his curled-up form. “You’re not sleeping too?” He asked, peaking above the sheets.
“Don’t worry about me and sleep.”
Luffy hummed, throwing his hands over the sheets on either side of his body. “It’s cold tonight, you should get under the covers too.”
“I’m fine Lu, just sleep.”
“How can I sleep while my guest freezes to death?” Luffy said flatly, earning a chuckle from Law.
“Fine, fine.” Law settled himself under the sheets, pulling the covers up to his waist. “Now, are you happy?”
“Hmm, no. Cover your stomach, you’re going to catch a cold like this.”
Law quickly picked up on what Luffy was doing, now turning on his side to face him. “You think you’re funny?”
“Whatever do you mean?” Luffy shrugged, feigning ignorance as he turned to face Law. “It is cold, you’re leaving your chest out, you’ll catch a cold, no?”
“You’re annoying, you know that?”
“Hey, that’s my line!” Luffy grinned.
Law rolled his eyes, ignoring the weak protest, pulling the covers over his shoulders. He was doing this because it was indeed cold, not because Luffy told him to.
“Ah, now I can sleep.” Luffy tucked his hands back into the sheets. He scooched closer to Law, leaving a small space between them.
Law turned on his back, closing his eyes. He already decided to pretend to sleep so that Luffy would go to sleep.
But he could feel Luffy’s eyes staring at him.
He planned to ignore it of course, giving him attention would only deter his slumber.
Law waited, and waited…. and waited some more, but the eyes never left his face. Failing to ignore the weight of Luffy’s eyes, he decided to break the silence.
Without opening his eyes he muttered, “You’ve been staring quite a lot today—”
“Can I ask you something?”
Law peeked out of one of his eyes, looking down at Luffy. The usual sweetness in Luffy’s scent dulled, leaving a faint bitterness. Law knew he should probably choose his next words carefully before answering to whatever came next.
“Sure…”
“…”
“Luffy?”
“If I had said no, what would you have done?”
Both of Law’s eyes opened at the question. He hummed in thought as he didn’t actually think that through. After all…
“I’m not quite sure. Probably would be getting dragged to Dressrosa the minute you disagreed.”
Luffy propped himself on one elbow, resting his chin against his palm, “You’d actually… agree to it?” he asked, brows furrowed. “You’d marry her?”
Law shuddered at the thought. Hell no he wanted to say, but how could he justify his reason without saying it’s because he desired Luffy and not her?
“I wouldn’t– I don’t like her? in that way?” He said, like he was asking himself a question. He wasn’t sure he liked her at all. She was just someone who spawned in their space at times.
“Then in what way do you like her? I’m surprised you even extend your ‘like’ to her at all.” Luffy pressed on, brows furrowed.
Law sniffed. Shit. Luffy was getting mad.
“Meaning,” he said carefully, “I don’t have a reason to hate her. She’s tolerable at least. Not to the point where I’d marry her for christ’s sake.”
Luffy opened his mouth to say something else but before he could get a word out, Law quickly turned on his side, pulling him in his arms to silence him.
He could tell Luffy was getting even more annoyed and made a mental note not to mention Monet or anything remotely related to the arrangement around him ever.
“Aren’t you tired Lu? You’ve been quite talkative tonight.” He pressed a kiss to Luffy’s forehead.
Luffy's brain short circuited at the sudden action. He knew Law was doing this to get him to stop with the questions, and damn him, it worked. He huffed out a breath, melting in Law’s arms.
“Just tell me you want me to stop bothering you.” He pouted, snuggling his nose in Law’s chest, if defeat was this comforting he’d happily accept it.
Law hooked a finger under Luffy’s chin, tilting his head up from his chest to meet his eyes.
“I didn’t mean it like that, you don’t bother me. I just know you’re tired, so I want you to sleep.” His voice low and sultry as he pressed a kiss to Luffy’s lips, “Okay?”
Luffy stilled, blaming his tiredness for giving in this easily, definitely not because of a simple kiss, nope.
“Fine.” He blushed, his cheeks tinged pink, “I’ll be convinced if you give me another kiss,” he whispered into the space between them.
Law chuckled into the kiss, his hand brushing Luffy’s cheek, caressing his face as he melted into the kiss. It was soft, sweet.
The faint rustling of the sheets as they moved closer, pressing into each other, coupled with the soft sounds of their kiss filled the room.
Their rhythm slowed as they pulled away from each other’s lips, reluctantly.
Luffy nuzzled his head back in Law’s chest, mumbling a “hmm that just might do” before draping his hand over Law’s waist.
Law smiled at the spoiled brat in his arms, moving his hand to Luffy’s back, patting him to sleep. He sure wasn’t going to sleep now, a blush settling on his cheeks.
Or so he thought.
After checking that Luffy had fallen asleep, he felt tiredness creeping in his eyes. A yawn escaped from him as he shifted his head to rest atop Luffy’s.
He followed after a couple of minutes.
—
”Young master Law, Sir Corazon is here for you. He said you have a joint training session with the instructor from Wano today. You must make haste to reach in time.”
The room was filled with the quiet hush of the early morning, the sky barely beginning to color.
Law laid still for a few minutes, savoring the view in front of his sleep filled eyes—Luffy asleep in his arms. He ran a tired hand through his hair before sighing softly, pulling Luffy away slowly, as if it pained him.
He had forgotten all about it. Though he was the one who arranged the date, he thought he could sleep in with Luffy today.
Luckily, neither the knock, the brief conversation nor his movements woke the little prince.
It was pretty early and Luffy wasn’t a morning person.
Law looked at the time, “5:20” he muttered, cursing his past self for choosing a 7 am training time.
He quickly slipped into the training attire Corazon brought, moving towards the window to signal that he would be down shortly.
His eyes stayed on Luffy as he buttoned his shirt, almost ready to leave. Who knew leaving early could feel this close to a broken heart? Law was convinced it actually would break his heart.
His eyes remained on him as he pinned his family crest, though he could only see Luffy’s fluffy hair sticking out, as the rest of him was fully under the covers.
He looked so cute, and Law could imagine the position he was in—on his side with his hands tucked between his thighs, searching for warmth.
Once Law was all ready, he stepped closer to the bed, steeling himself. He leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to Luffy’s forehead. His lips lingered for a second longer than intended before he pulled back, careful not to wake him.
But then he felt like one wasn’t enough, moving to kiss him again.
And again.
And again.
As he straightened, the creak of the bed caused by his movements stirred Luffy from his sleep.
“mmmm,” Luffy groaned, a sudden grip on Law’s sleeves as his fingers curled around his arm.
“ere are you ing his ly?” Where are you going this early? Luffy mumbled, his eyes thick with sleep, barely above a whisper.
“Go back to sleep, I’ll be back soon.” Law whispered.
“… say sill fast?” Luffy mumbled incoherently. ‘Can’t you stay ‘til breakfast?’
Law had his masters in Luffy’s sleepy talk.
Even in the dim light, he could tell that Luffy was trying to fight sleep to keep him there.
Law exhaled, a small smile forming at Luffy’s cuteness. “I have training,” he spoke in soft whispers, shifting to lay beside Luffy, running his fingers up and down his back as he tried to put him back to sleep before he lost his resolve.
Luffy hummed but his grip didn’t loosen just yet, trying to keep Law there for just a little longer, saddened that he would leave so soon.
Law indulged him, resuming his gentle pats as he waited for Luffy to fall asleep. He pressed one last kiss to his forehead to unfurrow his brows before pulling away.
Only when Luffy’s fingers loosened and his breaths evened out did Law stand slowly, placing Luffy’s hand back under the covers.
With one last glance at the sleeping figure curled up on the bed, he quietly made his way out, shutting the door with a careful click.
That morning, the warmth beside him was gone.
Luffy stretched out an arm, searching blindly for the presence that had been there just five hours ago, but all he was met with was empty sheets.
He frowned, shifting onto his back as his palms came to rub the sleep from his face.
As he laid there, the memories of earlier came trickling in. The soothing weight of Law’s hand on his back, the hushed promise that he’d see him soon.
“Right, training…”
Rolling onto his side, his gaze landed on his fingers, the ones that had held Law’s sleeve before he left.
Slowly, he curled them toward his palm, pressing them against his lips as he grumbled a quiet, “I miss him already” before drifting back to sleep.
—
Luffy was bored.
He had been walking the halls of his home, the Goa Palace, hoping to get some entertainment until Law returned.
‘Law should be back soon,’ After all, his training sessions normally lasted until noon.
He just needed to find at least one person who was willing to play with him until then, which, oddly he might add, was much harder today than any other day.
Everyone he tried to talk to was busy.
Suspiciously busy.
“Porche can we—”
“Very busy, Your Highness! I have a little laundry to do.”
Weird, laundry was done on Saturdays, today was Wednesday. Not to mention, she went in the opposite direction of the laundry room. Luffy hummed in thought.
“Marigold, Marguerite can I—”
“So sorry, we have, uhh, the floors! yes! The floors to clean Your Highness…”
The floors were practically sparkling.
“Sai and Leo, would you be—”
“We have some trimming to complete in the yard little prince.”
“Lola—”
“—I’m Sorry!”
“Amande—”
“—Another time!”
“Streusen, can I have a treat?”
“No. Kitchen closed.”
It was 4 pm. He was due to have at least another snack by now.
Luffy was being pushed out with a spatula before he could protest.
“Ahhhh! what is wrong with everyone?!” Luffy thrashed in frustration, gripping his head as he dropped to his knees. Why was everyone ignoring him? It was obvious they were all in on it, whatever it was.
Had he done something wrong? Did he forget an important day?
“What in the heavens is going on?” he muttered, feeling a little defeated. They were usually excited to be around him.
“…..ss ...y”
“….ness Luffy.”
“Your ….ness!”
“Luffy!”
Luffy’s head shot up as he searched around, trying to find out where—and why— he was suddenly hearing his name being called out, barely above a whisper.
Then, his eyes finally caught sight of her, the hushed voice was coming from Chiffon, one of the palace’s pastry chefs.
She was one of Luffy’s favorites, as she would randomly give him pastries throughout the week, sometimes even late at night, when she needed a taste tester for her new recipes.
Without hesitation, Luffy scurried over to her, crawling into the storage room to the left of the hall.
“Chiffon, do you know why—”
“Shhushh!”
A quiet whine left his saddened lips, “...what is it with you all and shushing me since morning.”
“I’m sorry, Your Highness, but please do not be offended. We are simply under very strict rules.” She whispered in an apologetic voice while pulling out a tightly wrapped cloth, unfolding it to reveal freshly baked chocolate chip scones—the very same ones that Head Chef Streusen had been preparing.
Luffy smiled in delight, now content and quietly listening.
“His Majesty Garp told us that we were not to entertain you for the coming days, as you will be resuming your studies with Lady Nico soon. He wanted you to use the time for studying, so that you may start preparing for those sessions.” She spoke quietly, brushing the crumbs from Luffy’s mouth.
His eyes narrowed, frowning, “Tch, that damn old geezer.”
That explained why they were all acting as if merely looking in his direction would have them beheaded.
Garp wasn’t a tyrannical King, but when it came to Ace, Sabo and Luffy’s studies, he was very relentless.
Luffy was going to resume his Nobility and History lessons with Lady Robin next week, that much was true, but how was he supposed to focus when his mind refused to think of anything outside of a certain golden-eyed idiot?
And why would Garp give out such orders without notifying him first? He was definitely not going to study after hearing that.
“Thanks Chiffon. Sorry if I’ve caused trouble.” He sniffed, taking another big bite of his chocolate chip scone, dropping crumbs everywhere.
“Not at all my prince! You know we would never intentionally ignore you.” Chiffon hushed, giving Luffy a napkin to wipe his mouth.
“I told you to call me Luffy, Chiffon.” he frowned, puffing out his cheeks.
“Right, right, Luffy” she nodded, ruffling his hair.
They remained there for a few more minutes, hiding as Luffy finished his scones.
Chiffon quickly cleaned up and went back to the kitchen, while Luffy, having no other options, made his way back to his room to wait indefinitely for Law.
—
As soon as he was back in his room, Luffy headed straight for the balcony. From there, he’d have the perfect view of the gates and the best chance of spotting Law’s carriage the moment it arrived.
Luffy waited and waited… and waited some more, eyes fixed on the entrance. But the more time passed, the more impatient he grew.
He whined, draping himself dramatically over the railing like a discarded coat as his hands hung in the air, resting his chin on the cold metal.
The evening breeze tousled his messy hair as he watched the sun begin to set, painting the sky in different hues of orange.
He had waited all day and still no sight of Law.
He told himself that he wouldn't be upset, that Law was just busy and maybe training went on a little later than usual. After all, it was Zoro’s last week in the capital before he was deployed to the King’s office at the north border.
He shouldn't be upset, after all they weren’t even dating and this wasn't his first time being away from Law so why—a small ache settled in his chest.
Law was busy, Law had things to do outside of being with him, he knew that, but as the palace grounds grew quieter and the lights flickered as the sky darkened, he couldn't help but feel—
He sighed heavily, not knowing how he truly felt. Was it disappointment? Sadness? Loneliness?
All he knew was that his mind was far, far away, stuck in the void of longing for one annoying, grumpy, golden-eyed, gorgeous and hot man.
Luffy groaned loudly, sliding further down the railing. “Law you liar…” he whined as he settled on the floor. “You said you’d be back.”
“Maybe I should just study for the night like Grandpa said.” Luffy hummed in thought. “No… I doubt I’d retain anything in this condition.” he dragged his hands down his face.
With Ace and Sabo away from the palace and all servants ignoring him, thanks to Garp’s wonderful orders, Luffy was left alone with his thoughts.
Thoughts that kept wandering to Law.
And not just any Law, the ‘Law’ last night.
How was he supposed to focus on ancient history when his mind was busy replaying their kiss over and over and over again, like a broken music box?
How was he supposed to focus on the importance of the Poneglyphs and their crucial role in uncovering the mysteries of the Void Century, when all he can think of is Law’s fingers on his skin, holding his waist, pulling him in tenderly?
How, just how, could he focus on the archaeological history of Ohara when his heart was beating at the very same rhythm of their first kiss?
Luffy rolled onto his back, groaning once more—only this time, not in agony.
He knew Law would be a pretty good kisser, but he didn't expect him to be that good.
Law’s hands all over his body, his fingers holding his face delicately, the feeling of sleeping against his chest as they cuddled like nothing happened.
Like it was meant to happen.
How could he ever get a review session in, when his mind was filled with all these thoughts?
The feeling of Law’s toned abs on his stomach and the thought of how he was about to give up much, much more if Law had just said yes—
Luffy sat up quickly, his face beet red, murmuring “I need some fresh air.” like he wasn’t already getting ‘fresh air’ from the balcony.
He walked aimlessly until his feet carried him to the palace garden.
The breathtaking expanse of greenery was exactly what he needed to clear his head, to keep his mind from circling back to Law.
The garden was filled with carefully decorated stone pathways, bordered by the vibrant rows of roses, lilies, sunflowers, hydrangeas and daisies, all blooming in their dazzling display of color under the evening sky.
The marble fountain stood at the garden’s centre, filling the air with a soothing sound as each droplet splashed in the water below.
Beyond the flower beds and the fountain, there was a secluded bench nestled on the delicate grounds of the vine covered gazebo. The self illuminating lights made it even more gorgeous at nights, highlighting the beauty of it all and offering a quiet moment of peace.
This was often Luffy’s getaway spot whenever Garp tried to force him into extensive study sessions, or when he expected him to play the perfect omega prince in the eyes of foreign guests.
Here, he could forget about the weight of expectations being the only omega of the house. The endless lessons on diplomacy, etiquette and history that he barely had the patience for.
A place where he could escape his mind, and now, a getaway to distract him from thinking about Law.
As Luffy walked along the pathway, running his hands over the blossoming flowers, his eyes landed on what seemed to be a large, dark, round stone.
Only, it wasn’t a stone, it was a—
“Beetle!” Luffy squealed.
“Wowww, you’re so cool and shiny! I haven’t seen one this big in years!”
Luffy’s eyes remained fixed on the stag beetle, crouching down to pick up the rather large insect. He had a deep love for bugs but was often scolded whenever he carried them inside the palace.
He was told off for scaring the maids, especially Porche and Marguerite, so he was banned from venturing into the garden without a guard when he was much younger.
“You’re my friend for tonight.” Luffy declared, gently tapping the beetle’s mandible.
“I had no choice but to come here you know, everyone refused to play with me.”
His voice trailed off.
“Damn gramps, why do I have to review before the lessons even start? I know all about the stupid court and the history, it’s all Law mindlessly talks about whenever he starts to ramble—”
Luffy flinched, rolling his eyes. Law again.
He didn't even last a good minute before his mind went back to him.
He sighed deeply, holding the beetle closer to his face.
“Tell me, have you seen a tall, grumpy bastard anywhere? Black hair? Gold eyes? Walks around looking like someone stole his favorite book?”
The beetle flickered its elytra.
“Like you could actually answer me.” He chuckled at how silly he must sound.
It's all Law’s fault, the fact that he’s bored and that he’s mindlessly talking to a beetle.
“Law you sleazy liar, when I see you, I swear—”
“Hmmm. Should I be scared?”
That voice—Law.
Standing with his hands clasped behind his back, leaning against one of the gazebo’s marble pillars.
Luffy’s mind went blank, a shudder running through his spine at the sudden appearance.
Don’t turn around, don’t turn around, don’t turn around, he chanted in his mind, desperately trying to steel himself as he did not want to give Law the satisfaction of seeing him flustered.
“I heard from Sai and Leo that you were wandering around, who knew you were cursing me out too?” Law continued.
“...”
Luffy remained silent, refusing to meet Law’s gaze or respond to him, mentally cursing at the way his face heated up at the mere presence of the man.
Law tilted his head, breathing in the scent filled with all the words Luffy wanted to shout at him.
Luffy’s restraint was rather impressive though, considering how long Law was gone for.
“Not speaking to me now?”
“You hadn’t shown, the day is almost done.” he huffed.
Law chuckled softly, taking small steps towards Luffy, “I’m here now aren’t I, Your Highness?”
“A little too late.” Luffy shuffled closer to the garden bed, eyes still on the beetle in his hands.
“Luffy—”
“I wouldn’t have expected you to return if you hadn’t mentioned it. What else if not that you broke your word?”
“I didn’t break my word Lu, I just got caught up wi—”
“You could have sent a message.” Luffy spat, glancing over his shoulders.
Law exhaled slowly through his nose. Whenever Luffy was upset, he barely allowed Law to get a word in. The minute he thought he had heard enough, he would cut him off.
The only right thing to do was listen without showing any signs of annoyance, as he knew that a single wrong word or move would have Luffy storming off.
“You’re right, I’m sorry.” Law spoke softly, closing the distance to stand behind Luffy. “I didn’t mean to upset you.”
Luffy blinked, caught off guard. He was expecting another excuse, or a tease, not an apology.
“Whatever. N–not that I was waiting for you or anything.” he muttered under his breath.
“So…”Law drawled, “I guess you don’t want to see me, which also means you don’t want this chocolate cake?” pulling his hands from behind his back to reveal the clear container holding the cake.
He knew exactly how to handle Luffy’s attitude and chip away at his stubborn defenses. He wasn’t his best friend for nothing.
Luffy tilted his head slightly to peek at Law’s hand, cursing himself almost immediately for being so weak.
“M–Maybe..” He looked away, trying to maintain his resolve as he placed the beetle back down in the flower bed.
“I guess I’ll just have to leave and have it by myself then, since the person I bought it for doesn’t want it.” Law teased, noticing the wavering tone in Luffy’s voice, which made him relieved.
An upset Luffy was more than he could handle after all that hours of training.
“I didn't say I don't want it,” Luffy rolled his eyes. “You–you should’ve stayed at training all day if you were going to bother me this late,” he mumbled, trying to resist from giving in.
“Hmmm but this cake and I are a two for one deal. You want the cake, I have to stay as well.”
“…”
“Going once.”
“…”
“Going twice…”
“Fine!”
“Oops, now I've changed my mind. I’ll just leave since you don’t want me here.” Law turned on his heel to leave, giving a dramatic sigh.
“Wait!” Luffy stood up quickly to pull Law's shirt, gripping it tightly to stop him from leaving.
“Hmm? What is it Lu?” Law smirked, glancing down at the hand clutching him.
“I want it.” Luffy whispered, looking down at his feet.
“You’ll have to do more than that to convince me.” Law’s tone was dripping with mischief.
“… you’re infuriating.” Luffy scowled, narrowing his eyes.
“Sorry? I didn’t hear that?” Law cupped his ears.
Luffy groaned as he shifted to face Law. He needed that cake.
Tucking away his frustration, he lifted his arms, gently wrapping them around Law’s neck—a motion that sent Law’s heart racing. His fingers brushed through the soft strands of Law’s hair, standing tiptoed as he locked eyes with Law’s.
The closeness and the weight of Luffy’s touch unraveled Law’s playful teasing in less than a second. He could feel the steady rhythm of Luffy’s breath against his lips, as he leaned in unbearably close.
“Stay.” Luffy whispered softly like a quiet plea. This made it impossible for Law to step away, no matter how much his mind screamed at him to. “Please?”
Law stood frozen in place.
“Don’t be so stubborn when you’re the one who kept me waiting.” Luffy pouted.
Law tried to pull all his threads of self control together, fighting the urge to have Luffy and the cake right here, right now. His eyes flickered between Luffy’s eyes and his lips. When did he get so sly?
“I thought you said you weren’t waiting for me?” Law loosened his hold on the container.
Luffy snickered, carefully gliding his fingers down to Law’s when he saw that Law lowered his defenses. “I don’t quite recall saying such a thing. Do you have any witnesses?”
He leaned in further, and with a swift grab, he snatched the container out of Law’s hand.
“Thanks!” Luffy shouted with a grin, skipping over to the bench.
Law, stunned, tilted his head back before exhaling a laugh. How stupid, he thought (hoped) that Luffy was going to kiss him.
Well, what else should he have expected?
Luffy sat down, patting the free space beside him for Law to sit, but in quick steps, Law came to settle at his feet.
“How is it? I heard it was new on the menu.”
“It’s good!” Luffy’s eyes lit up, humming as he swallowed a quick bite. “Do you want to try it?”
Law shook his head, “No, I bought it for you.” His stomach was in knots. He couldn’t eat anything now. He’d definitely end up with indigestion.
Then, he remembered why he came with a cake in the first place.
“I… must leave soon, so I won’t be staying tonight.”
“Why?”
Disappointment was visible on Luffy’s face, even though he tried to hide it.
“You know Zoro’s leaving soon so Corazon is pressuring us to have a few more sessions together.” Law sighed as he rubbed the back of his head.
“‘Making the most of the minutes we have left’ is what he called it,” he mocked, “but really Lu it’s just torture.”
Law hated it. He thought he would’ve been able to spend more time with Luffy but Corazon just had to put a lid on his plans.
During the 14 (long) hours that passed, it took an immense amount of effort to stay away from Luffy. Not seeing him for another day or two could very well kill him.
“Oh, right... right, okay!”
Why was he disappointed? Did he expect Law to stay for another night when he had only asked for one? It’s not like they’d start sleeping together every night now. He didn’t need an excuse.
“I will remember to see him before he leaves.” Luffy gave a quick (fake) smile, taking another bite of his cake.
Tsk. Luffy didn’t have to do all that. But instead of voicing his disgust, Law brought his hand to ruffle Luffy’s hair, “Sure.”
Was he a bit disappointed that Luffy hadn’t asked him to stay? Maybe, but that wouldn’t be fair to voice. They weren’t dating.
“Now, can I be introduced to the new friend you found earlier?”
Notes:
he needed that cake....... Is it realllyyyy ONLY the cake Luffy?? Hehehehe. He didn’t say two for one deal for nothing.
