Work Text:

It was during the after school hours, Akito had just gotten back to his house after another practice with Vivid BAD SQUAD. It was around 20:00.

As he walked up closer and closer to the front step he dug his hand into his front pocket of his sweatpants that he usually wore, searching for the house key to allow himself in with. His pocket felt empty, the key wasn’t there. It must’ve fallen out of his pocket on the way home. After all, he did jog home so maybe it just bounced out somewhere. Oh well, it wasn’t too big of an issue since he lived with a roommate as well.

The boy reached into his other pocket and pulled out his phone before typing in his password and pulling up the “phone” app to dial his roommate.

The line rang a few times, no answer, “Damnit Rui, of all the times you chose not to be near your phone. Tch, probably fell asleep on his desk doing on of his projects again..”

Akito sat on the front doorstep, accepting defeat and the fact he would just have to wait out when Rui would realize Akito was just sitting outside. Whenever that may be. As he was settling himself onto the step fully he realized something, something that could let him inside.

He quickly moved his hands up to his hair, looking for something. Hair clips were placed in his hair in order to keep it out of his face during practice, and maybe, just maybe that hair clip could unlock the door. The boy quickly lifted himself up and tugged the hair clip out of his hair, wincing in pain a bit as he did.

Once the clip was shoved into the lock it began to twist and rotate, not looking too well. When all hope was about to be locked there was a sudden “click!” noise. He did it, Akito had unlocked the front door.

The door swung open and Akito walked on into the house, then quickly threw his bag and shoes off at the door, lastly he closed the front entry and locked it once again. A sudden wave settled itself into the house, something felt wrong, so wrong.

“Rui?..” the boy called out. Normally Rui would hear Akito step through the door, thus then emerging from his room to greet him. There was an ominous silence, “Rui? Did you fall asleep again..?” Akito quietly asked yet in a tense manner. He was trying to not assume the worse.

There was this suffocating feeling that practically filled the air that left just enough for there to be enough air to barely breathe, but it grew thicker and thicker as the sight of Rui’s door got closer.

Akito slowly began to reach for the door knob, quietly rotating it in case the boy behind the door was sleeping. Once the door was cracked open enough Akito stuck his head around just enough to see through the small space in between the door and the doorframe.

Regret. Regret instantly flowed through his body. He couldn’t do anything but just stand there, a rush of coldness took over his body. Yet he wasn’t as cold as the hanging body of the boy he loved right in front of him.

What could Akito see to make sense of this situation, could he even see past the blurriness and dots forming in his eyes? A rope tied to the ceiling fan, about a foot down from where the knot was formed there was a noose. That’s where the scariest part began.

Rui, Rui’s neck was tightly secured in the noose. His face stiff as if he had been left hanging for a while. The rest of his body slightly swung, as if it were a clock. Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock. Akito was counting the seconds that he had been frozen in fear for. 180. 180 seconds of doing nothing. His heart had beaten 540 times within those three minutes. How pathetic.

How pathetic of him to freeze in fear at the sight of his lover dangling, he should be doing something about this right now and he knows he should be, yet he can’t move. His knees began to shake and fall out from under him. It wasn’t soon before he hit the ground. He would join Rui as well. He wasn’t frozen in fear, he froze in order to follow throw with the quick and impulsive plan he had made once he saw Rui’s state. Earlier when his vision started to become blurred and cloud over that wasn’t due to panic, that was due to loss of breath over enough time. Akito took himself out as well. Maybe Rui and Akito could be together somewhere else, but why not here?
