Chapter 1: Prolouge

Chapter Text

Once upon a time, long, long ago- okay it was just twenty years ago. My parents, Prince Adam and Princess Belle or as you probably know them: The beauty and the beast were married in a fairytale-like ceremony surrounded by their people and friends.
Well after the wedding, what at first started as my father just wanting to give my mother the adventures she always longed for, turned into a lot- A LOT more. As they journeyed through kingdoms all over the world they saw how much magic there actually was and more importantly. How much evil there was in the world.

After a lot of discussions, meetings, debates and- a lot it was decided that all the kingdoms would unite into one.
The United States of Auradon. Each kingdom would still have their own rulers of course, but above it all were the high king and queen. Elected by the people of Auradon and- it just so happened to fall on my parents.
Now to handle all the evil a new “system” was created.Though if you ask me I don’t know if you can call it a system.
The island of the lost, where all villains still alive and even those who’d died were set to live. With the help of the gods of Olympus all villains, deceased and alive were brought to the island before it was sealed off with a magical barrier created by the very Fairy godmother who once helped Cinderella find her prince Charming.

That’s been the status quo for the past twenty years and so far everyone has seemed… okay with it. Yes there were some protests of course but in the end the majority ruled. Well, when I was growing up I would see the isle of the lost from the window of my room and it always felt… wrong. More and more reports for children being born on the island were filled out during my life and I couldn’t help but think...

They're just kids in trouble...they need someone to trust... They're just kids...kids like us... I decided that when it was time for me to become king I would find a way to get the kids off the island. It just so happened that it was decided that my first proclamation as king wouldn’t need to go through the council. All I had to do was lay out a plan that would be reasonable enough for my parents to agree and we’d be all set! It’s time for Auradon to change, and for those who deserve it to be given a second chance

Ben fiddled with his ring as Lumiere made the final adjustments to his suit. Today was the day… or so he hoped.

“How is it possible that you´re going to be crowned king next month?” His father laughed as he walked in with his mother. “You’re just a baby!”

“He’s turning eighteen dear!” Belle smiled warmly and looked at her son.

“Eighteen?” his father chuckled. “That's far too young to be crowned king. I didn't make a good decision until I was at least… forty two!”

“Uh, you decided to marry me at twenty eight!” Belle frowned.

“Ah well, it was either you or a teapot!” Adam let out a laugh but stopped as soon as he saw Belle’s frown narrowing. “I'm only kidding!”

“Maman, papa-” Ben took a deep breath before Lumiere stopped him.

“Ah!”

Ben sighed but continued speaking while still standing still.

“I've chosen my first official proclamation!” He looked between his parents. “I’ve decided that the children on the isle of the lost should be given a chance to live here in Auradon!”

His mother let out a soft squeak and dropped the clothes she was holding, still Ben kept going.

“Every time I look out to the island, I feel like they've been abandoned-”

“The children of our sworn enemies?!” his father interrupted. “Living among us?!”

“We start out with a few at first,” Ben assured. “Only the ones who need our help the most, I've already chosen them!”

“Have you?” Adam frowned when Belle grabbed his arm.

“I gave you a second chance!” she reminded him, turning to her son. “Who are their parents?”

“Captain Hook…” Ben started, biting his lip. “Ursula… and Gaston”

As soon as the last name left his mouth his mother flinched and his father roared.

“GASTON?!” he snapped. “AFTER WHAT HE DID TO US?!”

“Papa, just hear me out here-” Ben tried.

“I won't hear of it!” Adam growled. “They are guilty of unspeakable crimes!”

“Papa, their children are innocent!” Ben pleaded. “Don't you think they deserve a shot at a normal life? Papa, please!”

Adam looked at his wife, then back at his son and sighed.

“I suppose their children are innocent…” he muttered before turning to walk out.

“Well, well done!” Belle smiled stiffly and gently patted her sons back before walking after her husband. “Shall we?”

Ben let out a breath he didn’t even know he was holding in when his parents left the room. Looking out the window at the island again… Today marked the day for change.

Chapter 2: The sea three

Chapter Text

“HEY!” A customer spat at Uma as she put the tray down. “I wanted fried clam!”

“And I wanted a sea pony!” Uma hissed. “LIFE AIN’T FAIR!”

Ignoring the complaints she kept taking out food to the tables and bringing in dishes for her mother to clean. Oh yeah, her mother, the mighty sea witch Ursula. At least that’s what she used to be…

Nowadays she was just the bitter old squid who ran the biggest fish n chip shop on the island.

Uma sighed as she finally sat down at the end of her shift, better rest while she could. There was no telling when her mother would pull her up again for the night shift or… any excuse she had to keep her daughter working.

“Make way make way!” A deep voice called out before none other than Captain Hook stormed into the shop, his two younger children following behind him. Harrison Liam Hook, or Harry which was the name he preferred. While he seemed to be a perfect mix between Captain Hook and whoever his mother was, he by far had his father’s temper. But unlike his father the hook he carried wasn’t real. Or-it was a real Hook but Harry had not lost his hand but just carried his hook around like any other weapon.

If Harry was a perfect mix between their parents while Calista Jane, or CJ was the one farthest away from their father when it came to looks. With her long thick blonde hair and bright brown eyes, maybe it was because she was just fourteen and had yet to finish growing but she was the shortest out of all her siblings and her ways of being “mean” was more just pulling petty pranks on people.

“WE’RE CLOSED!” Ursula’s sharp voice rang from the kitchen as Hook called out for her.

“That’s not why we’re here!” Hook snarled. “So get your rotten fish flesh over here you oversized-”

“ONE MORE WORD FROM YOU AND I’LL CUT YOUR ASS UP AND-”

“Mom!” Uma groaned. Before her mother got the chance to snap at her Uma quickly got up from her seat and ran up to the hook children, after all one of them was her strongest ally.

“Hi Harry,” she greeted her old friend. “What are you doing here this late?”

“Beats me!” Harry snorted. “Some fancy guy from Auradon showed up at our doorstep and all of a sudden father asked Harriet to get GASTON of all people and meet us here!”

Uma grimaced. She did not want to deal with Gaston and his oldest two sons again, last time they had met Uma had nearly punched one of them for refusing to leave her alone. All of Gaston’s sons were the same, always seeking validation from others, especially women and girls. At least his youngest, Gil, was more polite about it.

“Father we’re here!” A new voice called out as four new people entered the shop.

Henrietta Wendy Hook… Or Harriet, the oldest of her siblings and perhaps the one most like their father, despite having icy gray eyes like her brother and missing an eye instead of a hand. Why their father named his oldest after one of the kids that got him sent to the island who knows…

Uma didn’t like to admit it but she was jealous of the older girl.

Eighteen and she already had her own ship, her own crew and was one of the most respected kids on the island.

Here she was before Uma, her one piercing eye glaring and her sword aimed at the two taller boys behind her. Gaston Jr and Gaston the third both spitting images of their father. Both idiots and both had the same mentality about women as their father, only way to tell them apart was that Gaston Jr had a permanent limp on his left leg, having it broken from a failed escape attempt from the island when he was younger and it never healed right.

“Gaston…” Hook muttered dryly and reached out with his good hand for the other to shake as Gaston’s youngest son ran up to them. Gilbert Legume… or Gil, really Uma was amazed the boy had survived the island for this long. He always seemed so naive, so innocent with his baby brown eyes and golden hair...

“James,” Gaston snorted and took Captain Hook’s hand “To what do we owe the honor of you sending your firstborn daughter to get us?”

“I sent Harriet because she’s the most capable!” Hook snarled, raising his hook at Gaston. Calling Captain Hook by his first name was something very few dared to do, you either had to be very brave… or very stupid. Uma couldn’t decide which one Gaston was.

“Father!” CJ pouted offended, but quickly stopped when Hook gave her a stern look before turning back to the other adults.

“Is it true that your children also received the invitation from Auradon?”

Harry, Gil and Uma looked at each other confused.

“Father w-”

“Well?!” Hook ignored his son, not taking his eyes off of either Ursula or Gaston.

“Why should I bother to read anything sent from that monster?!” Gaston snarled.

“Can you even read?!” Ursula spat. “Yes, I’ve read it and my daughter is not going!”

“Going where?” Uma frowned.

Before Gil could ask the same Hook scooped up a letter and started reading out loud from it.

Chapter 3: The invitation

Chapter Text

“Harrison Liam Hook, I Fairy godmother welcome you to attend Auradon preparatory as your headmistress. An escort will arrive tomorrow at 10AM at Ursula’s fish and chip shop to take you across the sea from the isle of the lost to Auradon as part of a new program set up by our future king, Benjamin Florian Bourbon Enfant to give villain kids such as yourself a chance to live a life outside the barrier, fear not for you will not be the only one sent away. In accordance to prince Benjamins wishes you will be joined by Uma, daughter of Ursula and Gilbert Legume, son of Gaston. We look forward to welcoming you three to our school and to a new life. Signed Fairy Godmother, headmistress of Auradon prep!”

Hook folded up the letter neatly, leaving everyone else in the shop starstruck.

“W-we’re going to Auradon!” Gil mumbled, his brown eyes shining with hope.

“WHAT IS THIS TRICK?!” Gaston growled and tried to snatch the letter from Hook.

“There is no trick!” the other responded and showed the envelope the letter was sent in. “See?! It’s the royal seal of King Beast!”

“I KNOW WHAT THAT SEAL IS I GOT THAT LETTER TOO I JUST DIDN’T OPEN IT!” Gaston grabbed an empty jug that was still standing on the counter and smashed it, causing Gil to flinch and Harry and CJ to move just a bit closer to their father. Harriet put her hand on her sword when Gaston’s older boys were about to join their father when Ursula’s tentacles grabbed them all.

“YOU ARE PAYING FOR EVERY SINGLE THING YOU BROKE!” she roared.

Uma stepped back, her head spinning from what she had just learnt.

She had a chance to get off the island tomorrow?! Tomorrow!!! This… she couldn’t miss this opportunity!

“Mom-”

“Hush!” Ursula smacked Uma with a tentacle, not enough to knock her over like she used to, but Uma knew it would leave a bruise. “You are not going!”

“Gilbert isn’t going either!” Gaston spat. “If his brothers can’t go neither will he!”

“If you numbskulls don't think disobeying direct orders from King Beast is a bad idea…” Hook grumbled and propped his hook up so he could lean his face against it. “Think of the bigger picture! If our kids can get to Auradon they can get a hold of Fairy godmother's wand! You know the thing that put us here?! If it can put up the barrier it can take it down!”

“You mean- ” Gaston grinned. “I could finally take what is rightfully mine from that monster?!”

“And I can reconquer Atlantis as their rightful queen!” Ursula laughed.

“Whatever the case…” Hook quickly grabbed all his kids and pulled them out of the shop.

“Father are yo-”

“When we get home!”

Harriet, Harry and CJ looked at each other and nodded, now wondering how much of what their father had said to Gaston and Ursula had been for the act and how much he actually meant.

“So what now.?” Harry frowned once Harriet closed the door behind them.

“You kids stay here until I come back with your dad!” James ordered and ran up the stairs to see his husband. “Morgie? Morgie!”

“James!” Morgie shot up and hugged him. “What happened?! I saw the car from Auradon stopping and the man handing you something and then-”

“I know! I know… look!” James gently handed Morgie the letter as he was putting on his reading glasses, being careful to not break them, finding new ones would be a real pain.

Morgie frowned and read through the letter, covering his mouth as silent tears ran down his face.

“Love?” James put his hand on his husband’s shoulder carefully.

“I-It’s happening!” Morgie mumbled. “O-Our kids are getting off the isle!”

“One of them at least,” James muttered softly. “Hey… we need to talk with them about our plans, you coming?”

Morgie nodded and folded up the letter before putting his glasses back in their safe. Following his husband down the stairs where all three of their kids were still standing in the hall.

“It’s not fair,” Harry grumbled. “Why did they only pick me?!”

“Hey! Stop that!” Harriet frowned. “You’re getting out of this place!”

“Without you…”

“Harry,” Morgie walked up to his son and gently cupped his cheeks. “This is a start, just because it might take longer for your sisters doesn’t mean this stops with just you!”

“If they only wanted to pick one kid for some weird reason, your friends wouldn’t have been picked either would they?” his father pointed out.

Harry sighed and shook his head.

“I guess you have a point!”

“Harry!” Harriet grabbed his hand tightly. “This is our big chance to get out of here!”

“Oh yeah father,” CJ swung around. “how much of what ye said to Gaston and Ursula did you mean?”

“The wand stealing thing?” James frowned. “Not much, I just needed a reason for those idiots to agree to let their kids go too! I want a way to get our family off the island but taking down the barrier would lead to complete chaos!”

“Since when did you not encourage chaos?” Morgie laughed and draped his arms around James.

“Oh I don’t know! I married a nice man who almost got himself killed and then I almost drowned a bunch of kids and suddenly we ended up on this island with three kids of our own!”

“And for some reason you named your first kid after one of the kids you almost drowned!” Harriet shook her head. “If you two are gonna be mushy CJ and I are helping Harry pack for tomorrow!”

Chapter 4: Arriving

Chapter Text

Uma was standing outside the chip shop, pacing back and forth waiting for whatever would take her away from the island, clutching her bag tightly. She hadn’t packed much, the crystal ball Harry had given her for her birthday, some jewels she had been able to find in the barges and an extra set of clothes she managed to snag.

“You will get me out of here!” Her mother growled. “I will not be stuck here washing dishes the rest of my life!”

Uma nodded, while she didn’t want her mother to be set free she also didn’t want to leave all the other children of the island behind. Her mother might be a bad one but she was far from the worst, there were kids who deserved to get off the island more than Uma and she would not let them down.

“Haar!” Harry grinned as he approached, a bag slung over his shoulder that seemed to contain a lot more than what Uma’s did.

“Excited Hook?” She asked and looked at his bag.

“I guess…” he shrugged. “I’m gonna miss my sisters though, a lot!”

“You’ll see them again soon!” Uma patted his shoulder, then they heard several gasps coming from a few blocks away before seeing a big back limousine driving up to the chip shop, it was even bigger than Cruella’s car.

“No way this is our escort!” Harry gasped as two men dressed in uniform stepped out of the vehicle and opened its trunk.

Harry and Uma quickly put their bags in and were about to step into the limo when they heard someone scream.

“HURRY UP!” Before anyone had time for questions Gil ran up to the limo and threw a small bag into the trunk before he dove for the car seat, pushing Uma and Harry in before he closed the door shut, breathing rapidly.

“Gil what th-” Uma was interrupted by someone screaming and she looked out the window to see Gil’s brothers being pushed back by the suited men.

“O-Oh… they’re just upset I’m going to Auradon and they’re staying here!” Gil mumbled and twiddled his thumbs as the car started driving.

“We’re getting off the island!” Uma grinned triumphantly.

“Uma look!” Harry gasped as he noticed the shelves of candy that were in front of them. “No mold… they don’t look old and they’re not even damp!”

He quickly shoved his hands into as many bowls as he could and started stuffing his face, Gil quickly following suit once he realized neither his father or brothers were there to stop him.

Harry was biting down on what looked like crystals on a stick that tasted like sugar when he looked out the window and froze.

“Ehrm… guys?”

Uma and Gil both turned their attention to where Harry was looking and panicked at what they saw. They were approaching the end of the island but there was nothing for the car to ride on- they were going to fall into the water.

“IT’S A TRAP!” Gil screamed and clinged to both Uma and Harry who were both trying to not panic as much as he was.

“Okay okay okay!” Uma tried to get control over her breathing. “You boys hold onto me, once we hit the water I’ll make sure to break one of the windows so I can transform! Then I’ll get both of you to the surface an-”

She didn’t have time to finish before she noticed the golden light coming from outside, seeing a golden bridge forming from the island to Auradon that the car drove across as if it was nothing.

“Magic!” Gil gasped. “It’s amazing!”

“Right outside the island,” Uma snorted. “They’re taunting us at this point!”

“What do you think Auradon will be like?” Harry laughed.

“Very green!” Gil nodded confidently. “And no rotten food!”

“And filled with a bunch of privileged spoiled brats,” Uma sighed. “Remember why we’re here, to find a way to make it better for the rest of the kids on the island!”

Harry nodded and Gil looked at the floor.

When they approached what was the biggest castle the three of them had ever seen they saw a bunch of people cheering, playing different instruments and waving flags with Auradonian colors around.

Suddenly the car door was opened and the three of them stepped outside, Uma immediately recognizing one of the people standing in front of them.

“Welcome to Auradon!” The lady smiled, although Uma would bet her hat on that she was forcing herself to smile. “I’m Fairygodmother, headmistress of Auradon prep!”

Gil looked at Harry and Uma, should they introduce themselves too?

“It’s so good to finally meet you all!” A boy who seemed to be around their age said and stepped forward. “I’m Ben!"

“Prince Ben!” The girl who was standing beside him piped up. “Prince, Benjamin! Soon to be king!”

“Poser!” Uma muttered under her breath.

“This is Audrey!” Ben smiled.

“Princess Audrey!” She smiled right back at him and took his hand. “His girlfriend!”

“Gold digger-” Uma coughed.

“Excuse me?” Audrey stepped closer and looked at Uma intensely.

“Oh you know… as a pretty pink privileged princess I thought you already had everything you needed without having to snag a prince-”

“And you’re a wicked sea witch who manipulates people to get what you want…”

“You’re thinking of my mother darling,” Uma hummed and poked Audrey’s shoulder. “There are other ways of persuasion!”

Harry wasn’t sure if Audrey’s red face meant she was flustered or angry but before anything else happened Fairy godmother stepped between the girls.

“Ben and Audrey will show you around,” she smiled stiffly. “and I will see you tomorrow, the doors of wisdom are never shut! … But the library hours are from eight to eleven and as you may have heard I have a little thing about curfews!”

With that the fairy godmother left, leaving the other three with Ben and Audrey.

Chapter 5: Prince and princess

Chapter Text

“It is so, so so good to finally me-” Ben tried to reach a hand out to Gil who immediately backed up. “Meet you all!”

He moved into Uma “This is a momentous occasion, and one that I hope will go down in history-” He turned to Harry and snickered a bit “Is that chocolate?”

Harry frowned and quickly wiped his lips with his sleeves, noticing the prince not taking his eyes off of him as he finished the speech.

“As the day our two peoples began to heal!”

“Or the day that you showed three people where the bathrooms are!” Uma scoffed, still glaring at Audrey, at least that’s how it seemed to Gil and Harry.

“A little bit over the top?” Ben smiled nervously.

“More than a bit!” Harry snorted.

“So much for my first impression…”

Before Harry could respond Audrey got between them.

“You’re Captain Hook’s son right? You know unless you’re on the fencing team you’re not allowed to carry around weapons so your ho-”

“Then I’ll just have to join the fencing team then!” Harry snarled, raising his hook at her. “This was a gift from my father! I will never go anywhere without it!”

“Okay! So, how about a tour?” Ben clapped and smiled uncomfortably before turning to the castle before them. “Yeah, Auradon prep, originally built over 300 years ago and converted into a high school by my father when he became king!”

Harry looked at the big statue in the middle of the yard and snorted. And the people of Auradon thought the villains were self-absorbed?

Without warning Ben clapped with his hands, causing the statue to change into a beast.

“You-” Gil flinched and backed up behind Harry.

“Gil! It’s okay, my father wanted his statue to morph from beast to man to remind us that anything is possible!”

“Does he shed much?” Harry snorted, looking at the statue as Gil slowly and carefully walked closer to it.

“Yeah,” Ben answered. “Mom won't let him on the couch!”

Harry laughed a bit to himself while Uma studied Ben and Audrey as they entered the school.

“So you guys have a lot of magic here in Auradon?” she hummed. “Like wands and things like that?”

“Yeah, it exists of course,” Ben shrugged. “But It's pretty much retired. Most of us here are just ordinary mortals”

“Who just happens to be privileged little princes and princesses,” Uma frowned. “Doesn’t really seem fair does it?”

”Well sometimes life isn’t fair,” Audrey walked closer to Uma, studying her face in a way that made Harry unsure of what her actual intentions were. “Jealousy doesn’t look good on you!”

“Oh no.. why would I be jealous of you people eating fresh food and having a real bed?” Uma rolled her eyes sarcastically and shut Audrey's mouth by lifting her chin up before the princess could respond.

“So I suggest you shut that pretty little mouth of yours and get some self-awareness”

Ben looked around and quickly waved over a guy with glasses before Audrey snapped.

“Doug. Doug, come down!” he smiled nervously. “This is Doug. He's going to help you with your class schedules and show you the rest of the dorms. I'll see you later, okay? And If there is anything you need, feel free to-”

“Ask Doug!” Audrey interrupted before she grabbed Ben’s hand and pulled him away.

“Hi, guys.” Doug smiled. “I'm Dopey's son. As in Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, and…”

Uma, Harry and Gil looked at each other frowning as Doug squinted with his eyes trying to remember the name of his sixth uncle.

“Sneezy?” Uma snorted.

Doug nodded a quick thanks at her and looked down at his clipboard.

“Okay, so about your classes,” he mumbled. I, uh, put in the requirements already... history of woodsmen and pirates, safety rules for the Internet, and, uh, remedial goodness 101!”

“Let me guess. New class?” Harry rolled his eyes. “Come on, guys, let's go find our dorms!”

Before they had a chance to start walking up the stairs Doug stopped them.

“Oh, uh, yeah, your dorms are that way, guys”

Uma rolled her eyes as she and the boys followed Doug, stopping at a door after a bit.

“So uh, here it’s not allowed for girls and boys to share dorm!” He explained and handed Harry and Gil a key each. “So you two will share and Uma, you will be rooming with ehrm… Jane!”

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me!” Uma groaned as she was led away from the boys’ dorm and into a hall.

Chapter Text

“Jane?” Doug lightly knocked on the door. “Uhm Jane, your new roommate is here!”

A nervous squeak was heard from inside before a girl opened the door.

She had an awful bob-cut and her blue dress had way too many ribbons for Uma’s liking. Gods the goblins on the island had more style.

“Jane,” Doug smiled. “This is your new roommate Uma, Uma this is Jane, daughter of the fairy godmother”

“Daughter of Ursula,” Uma nodded and walked past Jane.

Jane gave a quick nod, scurrying into the bathroom.

Uma rolled her eyes and sat down on her new bed, quickly noticing how comfortable it was compared to the “bed” she had at her mother’s place.

As she undid some of her braids she realized that… doing them would take way too much time from more important stuff. Maybe it was time to change hairstyle, especially now that she didn’t have Dizzy to help her.

“Hey, open up!” Gods sake Jane had been in the bathroom for hours at this point.

“I’m not gonna curse you or steal your voice, I'm not my mom!”

She heard a weak squeak before Jane slowly opened the door.

“Listen I know you’re probably used to hanging out with your pretty princess friends,” Uma said, rolling her eyes. “But we’re both stuck with each other now so we gotta make the best of it!”

“Oh, I don’t really have any friends…” Jane mumbled.

“Really?” Uma frowned. “Even with who your mother is? And your uhm… personality?”

Sure a timid girl like Jane would never survive more than at max an hour on the island but this was Auradon! Surely they liked girls who “knew their place” or some bullshit.

“I’d rather be pretty,” Jane sighed, snapping Uma out of her thoughts. “You got great hair!”

“You know you’d look a lot better if you didn’t have that awful haircut!” Uma snorted. “Seriously, your mother Bibbidi-bobbidi-booed the living daylights out of Cinderella… just change your clothes and hair!”

“My mom doesn't use the wand anymore,” Jane explained, pulling on her hands. “She believes the real magic is in the books. And not the spell books, regular books with history and stuff.”

“Okay first off, her not using the wand is a load of bullshit!” Uma crossed her arms. “Her wand was what put up the barrier!”

“Twenty years ago,” Jane corrected. “She hasn’t used it since… and she’d never use it on me!”

“Damn and I thought the people here were better parents!” Uma shook her head and pulled out a pair of scissors. “Don’t think this makes us friends just yet but, if you let me, I can help you get rid of that awful haircut!”

Uma wasn’t sure if Jane obliged because she was scared of her or because she actually trusted her but nevertheless, Jane positioned herself with her back turned to Uma directly under the bathroom light so Uma could see better.

She couldn’t even believe herself when she finished up fixing Jane’s head. She almost looked like a completely different person.

“I-I love it!” Jane gasped when she saw herself in the mirror. “C-can you fix my nose too?!”

“Nose?!” Uma frowned. “There’s nothing wrong with your nose! Who told you that?!”

Jane gently pulled on her newly fixed hair and sniffled. “I-I don’t know… But no one wants to hang out to me an- I-I can’t think of anything else that’s wrong with me!”

“Hey! Nothing’s wrong with you!” Uma snapped. “But… I can’t lie and say I understand why you dress like you do, and… how come you’re not more confident with who your mother is?! On the island your parents' legacy determines how you’re treated as long as you act the part!”

“Well this isn’t the island!” Jane sobbed, hugging herself. “A-and my mom says I-I shouldn’t indulge too much in fancy dresses… work on the inside… not the outsi-”

“Who said they have to be fancy?” Uma spun around a bit to show off her outfit. “This was made out of old clothes found in the barges! Without magic thank you very much!”

“Wow…” Jane gently wiped her face. “You guys must all be very practical…”

“It’s that or walking around in nothing but rags,” Uma shrugged. “How much do you guys really know about the island anyways?”

“W-we know you live off our scraps,” Jane looked down in shame. “W-we’re always told that we’re showing you kindness by donating stuff! A-and as for you parents they deserve it…”

“While our parents do deserve it… most of them,” Uma leaned against the wall. “There are tons of kids there that deserve a better life! I don’t know why Ben only took three kids off but I will do ANYTHING to get those other kids off the island even if it gets me sent back!”

“You… you’re not as bad as I thought Uma!” Jane examined the other girl closely, seeing her just a little different.

“No one is completely bad or completely good,” Uma snorted. “You can be a bad person who occasionally does good things, and you can be a good person and sometimes do the wrong thing!”

“I guess you have a point,” Jane looked at the time on her phone. “And I guess we need to head to bed…”

Chapter 7: The past is past

Chapter Text

“This bed is so soft!” Gil exclaimed as he laid down in his bed, nuzzling the pillows tightly.

“Ye don’t say!” Harry snorted as he wiped off the soot from his eyes. Now that they were in Auradon maybe he would try to get his hands on some actual eyeliner!

“I am not looking forward to school! This is gonna suck compared to serpent prep!”

“But-” Gil looked out the window. “Look at all the lights outside! It’s so pretty! And so so green!”

Harry chuckled and looked outside as well, it was almost completely dark outside but you could still see the grass, trees and bushes thanks to the lights.

“What are those colorful things on the bushes?!” Gil gasped when he noticed.

“I- I think they’re called flowers!” Harry frowned, he had a vague memory of his dad mentioning them while trying to make a potion.

“Flowers are pretty!” Gil giggled. “You think they’ll let us walk around however we want to see them?”

“Maybe,” Harry shrugged and sat down on the bed. “But remember why we’re here!”

“Steal the fairy godmother’s wand and take down the barrier…” Gil mumbled silently. He did not want to see his dad and brothers again.

“Not necessarily,” Harry corrected. “But we need to find a way to get the other kids off the island, because no way in hell am I letting my sisters rot in the slums while I get a better life here!”

Gil nodded and curled up. He at first didn’t understand why Harry was so persistent in getting his sisters here, the only thing siblings did was hurt each other but… it was probably different when it came to sisters. They didn’t hit Harry so Harry didn’t hit them.

“Ye miss your brothers?” Harry asked.

“No… not really,” Gil looked down. “A-and I don’t think they miss me!”

“Ouch,” Harry snorted and started taking off his shirt. “we gonna get ready for bed?”

“I guess,” Gil looked at Harry nervously, he was starting to wonder how long his friends would believe his lies about his injuries.

“Holy fuck did ye get jumped right before you got to the limousine?!” Harry gasped when he saw the bruises that covered Gil’s torso.

“M-Mhm…” Gil answered quietly. He didn’t need to tell Harry it was his brothers that did this. And that he didn’t dare hit them back or else his father would’ve killed him. “It doesn’t hurt as bad as it looks!”

Harry sat down besides Gil and gently traced some of the bruises up and down.

“Ye sure you’ll be fine? I’m sure I can do- something to help” If only he knew where they kept the herbs…

“I’ve had worse,” Gil mumbled. “and it’s not like anyone will beat me up here!”

“No kidding!” Harry snorted. “Did ye see that prince Benny? I can’t believe he has beast blood!”

“Maybe he can transform to a beast and back like his father’s statue,” Gil shrugged. “I- I just don’t wanna risk getting sent back!”

“How do ye think our first day is going to be like?”

“No idea, but it’s just gonna be the two of us and Uma in our first class so… maybe it won’t be that bad?”

Yer getting yer hopes up Gilly,” Harry snorted. “Remedial goodness 101? Sounds like a load of bullshit!”

“You never know…”

Unfortunately for Gil, Harry was right.

Chapter 8: Remedial goodness and chemistry

Chapter Text

“If someone hands you a crying baby,” Fairygodmother started, pointing a stick at the chalkboard. “Do you, A, curse it? B, lock it in a tower? C, give it a bottle? Or D, carve out its heart?”

Uma raised her hand.

“Trick question,” she grinned. “because if the baby's parents are villains, you leave them to rot on the Isle where they learn to fend for themselves!”

Harry covered his mouth with his hands to hide the laughter threatening to escape his mouth while Gil couldn’t believe his ears. However, Uma was not done despite Fairygodmother trying to interrupt her.

“I mean, you're the heroes,” she shrugged nonchalantly. “That's what you guys did. So doesn't that mean it's the right thing to do?”

“Uma, you've done such a good job today,” Fairygodmother smiled stiffly. “I actually think you should be exempt from this class for the rest of the semester!”

“Actually I think I’ll stay!”

Fairygodmother was about to respond when Jane walked in.

“Hello dear one!” She smiled as Jane handed her the clipboard she was holding.

“You need to sign off on early dismissal for the coronation,” Jane said, waving a bit at Uma.

“Everyone here remembers my daughter, Jane?” Fairygodmother asked as she handed Jane back the now signed paper.

“We share the same dorm,” Uma shrugged. “Still don’t get why you don’t allow girls and boys to share one!”

“I can explain later,” Jane said as she started walking out of the classroom. “See you at lunch?”

“Sure…”

“Wow,” Gil stared at Uma as they walked out of the classroom. “You really did that!”

“Hey, I do not intend on letting these people think they’re the good guys!” Uma snorted. “Not after they left us all on that island, and that Fairygodmother is no ideal mother either! You know why her daughter acted so friendly towards me?”

“She’s scared of ye?” Harry grinned.

“Maybe somewhat,” Uma frowned. “But also because I helped her fix her hair because she had the ugliest bob-cut I’ve ever seen!”

“No way,” Harry laughed. “Why did ye help her?”

“While I do want to raise attention to the bullshit system that is the island, I don’t actively want to be sent back!” Uma responded. “Also, the girl was scared to death of me and also thought she was ugly for some reason, so I had to do something to stop it! Also, she’s the headmistress's daughter!”

“I guess you have a point…” They all walked up to their lockers to get their things, Harry slightly cursing at the sight of his hook. He had managed to come up with a compromise, Fairygodmother would not confiscate his hook as long as it was kept safely in either his locker or dorm. He decided that he’d keep it in his locker during the school days so he could check up on it regularly between lessons.

“Hey you two!”

They turned around to see a man waving at them, he was wearing a yellow cap and a yellow t-shirt with a blue vest.

“Yeah you two lost boys!”

“Don’t ever compare me to those brats again!” Harry growled.

“Huh?”

“The lost boys of Neverland,” Gil explained. “Harry doesn’t like them at all!”

“I see…” the man pulled out a clipboard. “I’m coach Jenkins, I’m responsible for Auradon’s tourney team and I’d like you boys to try it out!”

“Tourney?” Harry cackled. “That’s a wee boys game, no thank you!”

The man frowned and looked at Gil.

“I-I don’t really know what Tourney is but, I guess I could try…” he mumbled.

Harry blinked when he remembered what Audrey had said about his hook the day before.

“Hey, ye in charge of the fencing team too?”

“No but you can talk with Li Shang,” Jenkins responded. “He's the assistant coach as of now, you can find him in the fencing arena!”

“Great!” Harry was about to walk away when Uma grabbed his arm.

“First off genius, we have chemistry soon!” she said, rolling her eyes. “Second, after school activities are called that for a reason! Third, quite sure you don’t even know where the fencing arena is!”

“Oh yeah where’s the tourney… arena?” Gil frowned.

Jenkins smiled and gave Gil directions that he barely understood. This was so different from the island…

“Got that kid?”

“U-Uh yeah!” Gil lied. Do not show weakness, he’d figure it out anyways right?

“Cmon Gilly it’s time for chemistry,” Harry grabbed Gil’s arm and started leading him away, both boys following Uma since she was the only one who seemed to know where she was going.

When they got to their classroom they all begrudgingly sat down at different desks since there was no room for them to sit together. Harry grumbled and opened his new chemistry book. This was bound to be as bad as the weird science classes at serpent prep.

To his surprise it wasn’t, for some reason he could actually make sense of most of what the book said.

The same could not be said for Gil, and he was starting to feel very stressed over this whole thing. Gods why did he think he could do this?!

“Hey! You’re in my spot!”

Gil frowned and looked up, seeing another boy his age with short blonde hair and light brown eyes.

“O-Oh sorry!” He muttered and started to get up, quickly moving to sit next to Doug.

“Don’t mind him,” Doug muttered. “Chad, Prince Charming junior…Cinderella’s son.”

“He seems… like something,” Gil mumbled, noticing how Chad had his eyes fixed on him. “Is he good at fighting?”

“Gilbert,” Mr Deley interrupted. “Perhaps this is just a review for you. So tell me, what is the average atomic weight of silver?”

Gil froze, he had no idea!

“I- I-”

“I’ll take this!” Harry quickly got up from his seat and started writing on the board.

“So to calculate the average atomic weight on any given element that would be…” Harry closed his eyes in an attempt to focus.

“Taking the atomic mass of the two most common isotopes… multiply them separately with their respective abundance and add them together… so for silver… that would be 106.905 times 5200, plus 108.905 times 4800 and that would give us… 107,9 Amu?”

Harry put the chalk down and looked at his writing stunned. How did he pick up on that so quickly?!

“I see,” Mr Deley muttered. “Always a mistake to underestimate-”

“A villain?” Harry grinned. “Don’t make it again!”

He sat down again with Uma and Gil gawking at him.

“How did you know that?!” Uma hissed.

“Would ye believe me if I said I’m just as surprised as you?” Harry snorted. “Ye okay Gilly?”

“Mhm…” Gil nodded quietly. “T-thanks for saving me”

As the lesson wrapped up and they all headed to lunch Gil bumped into Chad on the way out, causing both of them to drop their things.

“Would you watch it?!” Chad snapped.

“S-sorry!” Gil kneeled down to pick up his things with Chad doing the same, what surprised Gil was when Chad accidentally picked up his book and handed it back.

“J-just take it!” he muttered. “And be more careful next time!”

Gil nodded and took the book, staring at the prince when he ran out.

Chapter 9: Sports!

Chapter Text

“That was weird,” Gil mumbled as he entered the dining hall, staring at the buffet starstruck. He’d thought the breakfast was big at auradon prep but this… this was massive. Foods and drinks of all kinds were lined up for grabs. He didn’t even know where to start.

Harry and Uma were already scooping their trays full, with Harry seemingly arguing with one of the staff on why they didn’t have alcohol.

When the three finally sat down with Jane together to eat, Harry was still complaining that there wasn’t any alcohol.

“So there was no drinking limit on the island?” Jane frowned.

“Take a wild guess wee pixie…” Harry rolled his eyes. “Been drinking since I was five, it was father’s only way to handle pain!”

“Where did you even get alcohol from?!”

“Found it in the barges every now and then,” Gil shrugged. “though Gaston never let me drink!”

The only times Gil had had alcohol was the few times it was served at the fish n chip shop.

“Also…” Jane nervously pulled at her dress and looked at Harry. “I-I’m a fay, not a pixie!”

“Whatever the case,” Harry rolled his eyes and looked at the time. “What do we have after lunch?”

“History,” Uma muttered. “Shouldn’t be the worst, you boys going to try out for those after-school activities?”

Both Harry and Gil nodded.

“Ye should join the fencing team too!” Harry grinned.

“Actually,” Jane mumbled. “Girls aren’t allowed on the tourney or fencing team!”

“WHAT?!” Harry shot up from his seat. “That is the biggest load of bullshit I’ve ever heard in my life! And believe me I’ve heard a ton! I had to listen to Claude Frollo babble on about hell and heaven and all kinds of shit!”

“Harry!” Uma grabbed his arm. “It’s okay, I have more important things to do anyways… but I do agree with you that the rules are bullshit!”

Gil was about to say something when someone dropped a note beside his lunch tray.

“What th-... Meet me under the bleachers at three, signed Chad Charming…” he read out loud.

“I’d be careful if I were you,” Jane frowned. “Chad is a bully, he thinks he’s above everyone else and he tries to pull every single girl he meets!”

“So what could he want with me?!”

“Who knows,” Uma shrugged. “You want us to join you?”

“I’ll be fine,” Gil sighed and stuffed the note in his pocket. “He doesn’t look that strong, I can probably beat him if he tries anything!”

“Do ye know what bleachers he’s talking about?” Harry frowned.

“If I have to guess it’s the ones by the tourney arena,” Gil sighed. “An arena that I have no idea where it is…”

“I can help you with that!” Jane smiled and pulled out her phone. “You’re coming too Harry?” ‘“Nah, I’m trying out for the fencing team!” Harry grinned. “Can’t be that hard to beat all those pretty princes!”

“Do you know where the fencing arena is?”

“Psh! I’ll figure it out!”

Jane playfully rolled her eyes and passed the directions for the Tourney field to Gil before giving Harry directions to the fencing arena.

“Yer not so bad pixie!” Harry chuckled.

“Uhm- thanks I think,” Jane got up and grabbed her things. “Good luck guys”

When Harry entered the fencing arena after history he was greeted by a tall muscular boy who seemed to be around his sister’s Harriet’s age.

“I’m Li Shang…jr,” he smiled. “Heard you wanted to try out for the fencing team?”

“Ye,” Harry snorted when he saw the uniforms. “Do I have to wear that?”

“If you make it!” Shang grinned and waved over another boy. “Walter, we got a new possible member!”

Harry frowned as he was given a mask and a sword. With Shang instructing him how fencing worked at Auradon. Apparently the official name for it was R.O.A.R which stood for something fancy that Harry didn’t bother to memorize. Beating this Walter kid wasn’t that hard but Harry had to admit, he was better than he expected.

“Good,” Shang nodded and waved to another person. “Hector you’re up!”

Defeating Hector was a bit harder than Walter, the boy had an even broader shape than Shang and seemed to be even stronger than Gil.

“Good! Now for your final challenge,” Shang grinned and stepped up once Harry finally got Hector backed into a corner. “Me”

Harry had to admit, this guy seemed like someone who’d be a challenge to even Uma, and of course since he couldn’t beat Uma in a sparring match Shang beat him too… though Harry thought that he’d held out longer than he first expected considering he’d fought against two people before Shang.

Harry looked up at Shang who had his hand extended to help him up.

“Welcome to the team,” the older boy smiled. “you have talent!”

“Of course I do,” Harry grinned. “I’m the son of Captain Hook!”

“So, I’m going to need your measurements in order to give you the right uniform but until then,” Shang handed Harry a sword and a mask. “It’s your responsibility to look after these outside of practice, if you lose them then you have to pay for new ones!”

“Ay,” Harry nodded. “So when’s practice usually?”

“We try to keep it at two times a week,” Shang explained. “Don’t worry, I’ll ask Fairygodmother to update your schedule!”

“Thanks!” Harry shook hands with Shang and walked out, clenching his new sword tightly.

Chapter 10: Prince Charming and tourney

Chapter Text

Gil sat under the bleachers nervously, tryouts for the team didn’t start for another hour and he had already changed into what was apparently appropriate. But it was almost three so that meant he’d be meeting Chad at any minute.

What could that prince possibly want with him?! They’d met twice, talked to each other once and did the time they talked didn’t even really count?!

“Good you got my message!” Chad muttered when he approached the other boy. “I would’ve texted you but I suppose you don’t have a phone!”

“O-okay!” Gil clenched his fists in case Chad would throw a punch.

“Is everybody at home as muscular as you?” Chad frowned.

“N-Not really,” Gil bit his lip. “Really just my dad and brothers!”

Chad looked around to make sure no one else heard.

“You know your friend really nailed that chemistry problem,” he started. “he’s gonna have all the nerdy girls fawning over him!”

“Having girls after you isn’t all it's cracked up to be,” Gil shrugged. “I-I did stuff on the island all the time to get the girl's attention but… it was really just to make my dad happy”

Chad blinked, his eyes showing confusion for a split second.

“Wait- who was your father again?”

“Gaston…” Gil sighed, awaiting Chad to flip out on him,

“Wow! I’m surprised Ben even brought you!”

“You and me both,” Gil pulled on his hair and decided to not postpone it anymore. “Why did you ask to meet with me?!”

“Well believe it or not,” Chad muttered. “While I am quite the most handsome prince in our school, chemistry is not my strong suit!”

He reached in his pocket and pulled out a pouch that, judging from the sound it made, was filled with money or other valuable stuff.

“How much do you think I’d have to pay your friend for him to do my homework for me?”

“Uh… nothing,” Gil answered. “Trust me the last person who tried to bribe him into doing their homework lost two teeth and a chunk of hair for it! … and their money without receiving any help!”

“Psh! I could take that pirate in a fight!”

“Uhm, no you can’t,” Gil frowned, unsure if Chad was joking or not, he was never good at detecting sarcasm. “I’m one of the strongest kids on the island and I can’t even beat him!”

Chad stared at him baffled, Gil wasn’t sure if he was about to scream at him or ask a bajillion questions but before Chad got the chance to do anything they heard Coach Jenkins voice from not very far away.

“ALRIGHT EVERYONE! TRYOUTS STARTS IN 20 MINUTES SO GET EQUIPMENT!”

Gil had no idea what to do but followed Chad up to Jenkins who handed both the boys their equipment.

“So ehrm, how do we do this?”

“There are two teams with nine on each,” the coach started explaining. “You have a goalkeeper, a shooter and seven on the field with two of them using shields to block attacks from opposing teams and to deal a more powerful tackle!”

He briefly directed his attention to the others. “Ben, offense. Chad, you're defense. Taylor, you're the shooter!”

“So, how do you play?” Gil swallowed nervously.

“You need to score as much as you have time, tackling is allowed but not aiming your club at someone, the club is the only thing that’s allowed to touch the ball, if you’re the shooter, your job is to shoot projectiles at the opposing team when they run across the kill-zone, that’s the red part of the field!”

Gil nodded, clenching his club tightly after putting on his helmet and gloves. This… this was either about to be the death of him or he could be somewhat liked at this school if he played good.

As Coach Jenkins blew his whistle Gil quickly kicked the ball up in the air and hit it with his club, sending it flying as he ran after it, swiftly tackling Chad as he came in with his shield to block him.

Suddenly he felt a gust of wind behind him and ducked for a red projectile… right the kill-zone.

As he jumped to avoid another projectile he noticed someone on the opposing team was running with the ball towards the goal and he quickly ran after them. For once Gil was grateful his father liked to use him as a target when using his crossbow… after being hit so many times he almost ducked for the projectiles on reflex.

Once he had the ball again he ran all he could for the goal and sent the ball up in the air, locking in one last hit to send it into the goal.

Was that- did he do it right?!

Coach Jenkins blew in his whistle and called everyone over to him.

“What do you call that?!” he asked, making Gil freeze. No no no! He did was he was supposed to! Right?!

Gil clenched his eyes nervously, expecting a punch.

“I call that raw talent!” the coach grinned and patted him on the shoulder. “Just need to brush up on the rules a bit but hey, you’ve never even seen a rule book before right? Welcome to the team son! Let’s run that again!”

Chapter 11: Prince Benny

Chapter Text

Harry was sitting on his bed doing his homework while Jane and Uma were talking. It was an hour until dinner and Gil should be heading back from tryouts but with how much food they seemed to have here it wouldn’t surprise Harry if you could find a feast somewhere even in the middle of the night if you looked hard enough.

“So yeah I’ll never get a boyfriend!” Jane groaned loudly, snapping Harry out of his thoughts.

“Boyfriends are overrated,” Uma said, rolling her eyes.

“How’d ye know Uma?” Harry grinned. “ye never had one!”

“Because I don’t need one!” Uma snapped. “They’re a waste of time!”

Harry was about to interject when someone knocked on the door.

“Look who decided to come ba-” Harry started as he opened, expecting Gil to stand there, which he did but he wasn’t the only one. “Prince Benny?”

“Hi Harry!” Ben smiled. “I-I didn’t see you at the Tourney tryouts today so I was just wondering If you had any questions or anything that you needed!”

“Tourney is a wee boys game,” Harry shrugged. “But how did it go for ye Gilly?”

“I made the team!” Gil smiled proudly, holding up a blue shirt with the number eight and his name on it.

“Good for ye!” Harry nodded and turned his attention back to Ben. “Was that yer last game or something?”

“O-Oh, no my final match is in a week!” Ben smiled “I’m done with all my classes and- once we bet the Sherwood falcons I’ll be all set for my coronation! That you’re all invited to of course!”

“Really?” Uma perked up.

“Yeah, the whole school goes,” Ben nodded. “Do you guys need help with uhm… picking out something to wear?”

“I can sew up something for us!” Gil stood up and looked at Jane. “Do you… do you have any sewing material I can borrow?”

“Oh uhm… we can just go out and buy-”

Ben shook his head.

“Listen! I’ll have outfits ready for all of you okay? Free of charge, I just need to get Lumiere to take your measurements!”

“Will he-” Gil looked down nervously. “Will he ask us to undress?”

“Probably won’t be necessary,” Ben shrugged. “But do you want me to explain how the coronation will go?”

Harry looked at Uma who rolled her eyes.

“What is there to know really?”

“Well, you all will be standing in the back while I walk down the hallway of the cathedral… then Fairygodmother will take the crown off my father and put it on me, she’ll then bless me with the wand and… that’s pretty much it!”

“King at eighteen,” Harry snorted. “That’s certainly something ey?”

“Well,” Ben shrugged. “I’ve been taking extra classes for basically my whole life! And mom and dad promised they'd still be around if I ever need advice!”

“About your coronation,” Uma frowned. “How does the seating work?”

“Oh, don’t worry about that! Upfront it’s just going to be me, my folks and my girl- my current partner!” Ben corrected himself and looked at Harry to his confusion. “For everyone else the seating aren’t assigned so just sit and stand wherever you want in the chapel- Uhm… I need to go now!”

“What… was that?” Harry frowned and closed the door after Ben.

“I think the prince was flirting with you!” Gil giggled. “Trust me I had girls like that after me all the time!”

“Yeah that… that I picked up on,” Harry muttered. “Should I… Should I lead him on?”

“Don’t!” Jane said and stood up. “I don’t know if you’ve met her but Ben has a girlfriend!”

“Oh we’ve met her!” Uma snorted. “A real privileged prissy pink princess…”

“Oh Audrey is so much more than that,” Jane rubbed her head. “she can be really nasty when she wants to!”

Uma rolled her eyes, sure Jane was willing to change her view on the island kids but… she was still so naive when it came to how bad things could be.

“Anyways” Harry muttered and put away his things. “We gonna head to dinner or not?”

“Oh I’m starving!” Gil groaned and started walking towards the dining hall with the others. “You know, playing tourney actually takes a lot of energy, more than I thought! There are these red projectiles you have to look out for an-”

“They’re called dragon fires!” Someone said behind them. “Just- you should know that!”

“Thanks Chad!” Gil smiled before they all sat down.

“So what did the prince talk with ye about?” Harry frowned.

“Oh he wanted to bribe you into doing his chemistry homework for him but I told him it wasn’t worth it!”

Uma shook her head, their new lives were certainly shaping up to be very interesting…

Chapter 12: Break-up and revelations

Chapter Text

The rest of the trios week went on pretty uneventfully, Harry and Gil had their after school activities while Uma was working on bringing more awareness of what the island was like.

Harry and Gil were sitting in their dorm with Harry helping Gil with his chemistry homework when someone banged on their door.

“The fuck-” Harry got up to open the door while Gil curled up on the bed.

“I HATE YOU!” Audrey screamed as soon as she saw Harry’s face.

“... I’m gonna need ye to elaborate-” Harry frowned.

“BEN JUST BROKE UP WITH ME!”

“And yer screaming at me why?”

Wow… that prince really did have a thing for him enough to end things with his current girl? Harry would like to say he wasn’t surprised, like he WAS one of the most handsome boys on the island in his own humble opinion. But the fact that he’d actually got the prince of Auradon wanting him? That was something else.

“THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!”

“Listen princess,” Harry sighed. “I ain’t controlling what that wee prince does!”

“DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THIS WILL DO TO MY FAMILY?!”

Harry rolled his eyes.

“Yer family can’t control what the wee prince does either!”

“NO BUT THEY ARE COUNTING ON ME T-”

“The fuck is going on here?!”

Audrey whipped around and almost fell over when she saw Uma standing behind her, arms crossed.

“Y-You! You set him up to this!”

Uma looked at Harry, wanting an explanation.

“Prince Benny just broke up with her because he has a crush on me,” Harry sighed. “And she’s not taking it well!”

“WELL HOW WOULD YOU TAKE IT JUST HAVING YOUR ENTIRE FUTURE YOUR FAMILY PLANNED TAKEN AWAY BY A-A-”

“A villain?” Uma frowned. “We’ve been here for a week and haven’t done anything, is that really all you think about when you see us?”

Harry could tell Audrey was about to say something more before Uma continued.

“Wow, I knew you were a spoiled princess! But if you truly think that getting dumped by a boy you like is the worst thing in the world, you're even more in denial than I thought!”

Harry gently reached out for Uma in case Audrey tried to do something, but the princess was just standing there gawking.

“Y-You don’t know anything about me!”

“And neither do you us!” Uma snapped back, glaring at Audrey.

“B-Ben and I have been set to be together since we were kids!”

“Wow…” Uma stared. “I thought Jane was an exception, but turns out being a decent parent is hard for people here too!”

“W-what are you talking about?!”

“Choosing your kids' future partner for them?!” Uma frowned. “I thought you good guys were all about letting people make their own choices! Though I guess I should’ve questioned it earlier considering the barrier exists!”

Harry grinned, he could go back to helping Gil… but this gossip was too juicy to miss out on.

“B-but I do love Ben-” Audrey started, trying to find the words.

“Do you?” Uma asked. “Or are you just telling yourself that? Because so far all the reasons you’ve listed as to why you’re upset is because it’s bad for your family!”

“BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW!” Audrey screamed before storming off.

“Should we ehrm…” Harry looked at Uma.

“I’ll handle it!” Uma sighed and ran after the princess.

While she still thought little of Audrey, it sure was impressive how fast that girl could run in heels, Uma thought they were taught to be these “perfect” little dolls here in Auradon…

Eventually Audrey seemed to get tired of running, just slumping down behind a bush in the yard.

“Look I…” Uma shifted her feet awkwardly. “Sorry if I went too hard on you I- I’m just so sick of people judging us for who our parents are!”

“Y-you know what I hate the most?!” Audrey sniffled, wiping the now ruined makeup away from her eyes. “You’re right! I-I don’t think I loved Ben! N-Not like that… I-I just wanted to make my family happy! A-and I’m scared!”

“Of what?” Uma frowned.

“I-I lost Ben to a villain kid, my grandma is never going to let that go!”

“Y-your grandma?” Uma blinked. “Why do you care what she thinks?!”

“She raised me!” Audrey croaked. “S-she and Adam t-they were the ones who started setting up ways for B-Ben and I to be together!”

“So Adam is a bad father,” Uma snorted. “Man I expected better from Auradon!”

“T-They just wants what’s best for Auradon-”

“What’s best for Auradon or what’s best for them?!” Uma snapped. “Look at you! You’re falling apart because your control freak of a grandma told you your only purpose in life was to get with Ben!”

“W-what else is there for me?! I-I have to have someone to rule Ulsted with! A-and if I can unite two kingdoms in the process that’s-...”

“First off!” Uma frowned. “You can be a queen by yourself without a king! Second, if you really want what’s best for your kingdom, look for someone you really like! Don’t think about them being royalty, or high status just someone you feel like you could love! For real!”

Audrey shakily stood up, looking the young sea witch in the eyes.

“W-what do you know about love?”

“Okay in all honesty not much,” Ums snorted. “I didn't get any of that from my mom… But Harry, Gil and I care for each other, we might not love LOVE each other in that way but I can’t imagine what my life would be without them!”

“Villains don’t love their kids?”

“Is that the part that surprises you?” Uma half-joked. “Gil… hasn’t told us yet but I’m willing to bet everything I have that the majority of the scars he has on his body are from his dad and brothers and not from getting jumped like he keeps telling us… Harry barely talks about his family other than his sisters, and me.”

She bit her lip.

“Well, my mom really likes to slap me around… literally!”

Audrey looked at Uma, swallowing her tears between her words.

“I-I’m so sorry I-I was so judgy I-I just… you’re right I don’t know anything about you!”

“Well… how about we start to get to know each other?” Uma reached out with her hand.

“I-I’d like that!” Audrey smiled weakly and took it.

Chapter 13: Normality

Chapter Text

Harry was sitting on the bleachers besides Uma, watching Gil preparing for his tourney game.

“Think he’ll win?” Uma asked.

“He’s gonna crush it!” Harry grinned, waving back at Gil who was smiling at them.

“Any progress on the Ben front?”

“Eh, he hasn’t made any moves yet…” Harry scratched the back of his head. “Maybe he’s too shy”

“And you haven’t flirted back with him?” Uma snorted. “Who are you and what have you done to Harry Hook?”

“Listen, this is Auradon!” Harry rolled his eyes. “I wanna see if the princely really REALLY wants me!”

Uma was about to say something before the referee blew its whistle, starting the game.

Gil was sitting on the bench for some stupid reason as all the others were running across the field shooting the ball between each other.

“Who are they playing against again?” Harry frowned.

"Sherwood falcons,” Uma sighed. “You know? Sherwood forest in Nottingham?”

“The kingdom prince John is from?”

“Yup!”

Harry sighed and kept watching the game. Gods the only reason he came in the first place was to see Gil play and for some reason the stupid coach was keeping him benched with that Chad guy.

“Wake me when Gilly gets called out…” Harry yawned and prepared himself to lay down on the bench, which earned him a light smack from Uma.

“We are not sleeping during the game!” She hissed. “Besides, with how aggressive this sport seems to be and the wimps some of these people are I’m sure Gil will be called out soon!”

“It will be that Chaddie boys turn before him!” Harry muttered.

“I- I wouldn’t be so sure about that look!”

Harry frowned and turned his attention back to the field, the coach seemed to be calling out Chad but as Chad got up to play he was pulling Gil along.

“W-why is he bringing Gil out with him?”

“Probably as a bodyguard,” Uma snorted. “I doubt that chaddie can take much without going down!”

“Chad’s the one with the shield,” Harry frowned. “Not Gilly…”

“Do the- do the shields mean something in particular when it comes to tourney?”

Harry nodded and explained the different roles on the tourney teams, he hated how he knew this much after listening to Gil ramble about his practices in their dorm for hours.

“Wow, this sport was practically made for Gil!” Uma snorted. “Though I wonder why the couch didn’t put him as one of the shooters… he has good aim!”

“Uma look!” Harry gasped as Gil, Chad and Ben were running up towards the goal passing the ball between each other.

There was only a few seconds of the game left as the opponents where aiming to tackle them when Chad blocked the attack, allowing Gil to pass the ball to Ben who shot the final goal.

“YEAH THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT!” Harry shot up as the announcer declared the Auradonian knights the winners.

Gil yelped in surprise as all his teammates lifted him up in the air after he was handed the trophy, all of them parading him around and cheering over their victory.

Harry and Uma quickly got up from their seats and ran down the field, both of them still clapping along with everyone else in the audience.

Upon seeing the other two Ben made sure he had another one of his teammates hold up Gil before running up to Harry.

“Harry!”

“Hey there princey!” Harry grinned as he kept waving at Gil. “What is it?”

“H-Harry I promised myself that if we won the game I-I would suck up the courage to do this u-uhm…”

“Yes Princely?” Harry looked at Uma and grinned.

“W-will you uhm, be my date for my coronation?”

“Thought you’d never ask!” Harry laughed and pulled Ben into his arms. “We gonna be a thing now or what?”

“I-I mean-” Ben blushed. “Would you ehrm… we have time to go on a date before the coronation!”

“And what did ye have in mind princely?” Harry smirked and moved his hand down to Ben’s waist.

“u-Uhm…. I’ll pick you up at your dorm on Sunday! At 10AM, sounds good?”

“I’ll be waiting!” Harry smirked and kissed Ben’s cheek before Uma pulled him back.

“Looks like he actually really wants you…”

“Can ye blame him?” Harry laughed and striked a pose. “I am fabulous!”

“You got a date?” Gil smiled as he was put down. “That’s great Harry!”

“And congratulations to you Gilly!” Harry beamed and hugged his friend, even when covered in sweat he smelled better now than what he did on the island. “Ye got the trophy?”

“Uhu!” Gil held it up again. “Coach says I get to keep it because I was the… MVP whatever that stands for! Can you believe it?! My FIRST trophy that I won!”

“A real shiny one too!” Uma laughed. “Does it have your name on it?”

“Nope! Just the team’s name! And I like that!” Gil hummed. “We did win as a team, it wasn't just me!”

“Come on Gil!” Chad called and pulled on the boy’s arm. “Time for a big victory pizza party!”

“What’s Piz-” Before Gil could finish his question Chad and his other teammates pulled him away to the changing rooms leaving Uma and Harry standing there.

“Ye know what pizza is Uma?”

“I found a moldy one in the barges ones,” Uma frowned. “It’s this…. bread with tomato sauce and cheese all over!”

“Sounds good,” Harry shrugged. “Think Gil will be willing to share?”

“Maybe he’ll spare some but I wouldn’t count on it,” Uma hummed. “Come on let’s get back to our dorms!”

Harry rolled his eyes playfully as he saw Gil and Ben celebrating with the rest of the team. This… was the happiest he’d seen Gil in a VERY long time.

Chapter 14: Princess troubles

Chapter Text

Uma laid down in her bed staring at the ceiling. She thought that her trying to bring more attention to the conditions on the island would keep her busy at all times but… during the weekends there weren’t that many students around on campus… and she and the boys weren’t allowed outside of campus without supervision which in her opinion was very dumb but whatever. She was about to get up to ask Gil and Harry if they wanted to find something to do when someone knocked on her door.

“Jane’s not her-” Uma started as she opened, expecting it to be someone who wanted to use Jane as a messenger for something they wanted to take up with Fairygodmother.

“Actually…”

“Audrey?!” Uma gasped. “W-what are you doing here?!”

“Is it true Lumiere was going to make your dress for the coronation?”

“Wha-”

“I spoke with Ben!” Audrey explained. “And he said he would get clothes for you and the boys for the coronation”

“Yes that’s what he said,” Uma frowned. “the clothes we were provided when arriving are… way better than the rags we wore on the island but I doubt they’re coronation clothes since Ben insisted he’d get new outfits for us!”

“Yeah well-” Audrey looked over her shoulder. “If you wanna save time maybe I can just… get you a dress now?”

“And you are offering me this why?” Uma frowned.

“W-well you said that it would be better if we both got to know each other better…” Audrey mumbled. “And I-... see it as my apology for being so harsh towards you and your friends!”

“Then why are you just talking to me? Harry was the one yo-”

“Oh just stop fighting and come with me!”

“I wasn’t-” Before Uma could continue Audrey grabbed her hand and led her outside of the building.

“I know a great tailor for you! It shouldn't take that long to find a nice dress for you!”

Uma was about to protest but… this could give her a chance to get outside of campus and maybe be able to spread awareness to some of the adults in Auradon and not just the students.

“Okay so, where are we going?”

“There’s a nice place in Cinderellasburg! And I can get us an escort! How do you feel about riding in a-” Audrey stopped dead in her tracks when she noticed something on Uma’s arm. “Uma what’s this?!”

Uma frowned and looked where the princess was starring.

“Oh these?” She shrugged. “Just some scars my mom gave me…”

“B-But they look like-”

“Suction cups? You know my mom has the lower body of an octopus right???”

“B-But she grabbed you and-”

“Yeah?”

Uma looked at Audrey who was seemingly trying to hide how horrified she was. Failing miserably at that.

“I told you my mom liked to slap me around, what did you expect?”

“M-Maybe some light bruising but-” Audrey swallowed. “She drew blood?!”

“All the time,” Uma shrugged. “Or she’d just try to work me to death… really dependent on what mood she was in!”

“A-and no one did anything?!”

“Why would they?” Uma frowned. “My mom was one of the worst villains on the island, you did not want to get on her bad side!”

“S-so everyone just watched?!” Audrey growled. “They let her do this to you?!”

“Harry and Gil didn’t,” Uma smiled. “When Harry saw her wrapping a tentacle around me he cut it off and even if I knew Gil was scared he stood in front of me until Harry got my mom to back off…”

“Wow, is everyone on the island as brave as you three?”

“Maybe not all,” Uma shrugged. “But if you couldn’t find a way to defend yourself you wouldn’t last long! Ehrm- Anyways you were asking me if I would like to ride in something???”

“Yeah a carriage!” Audrey smiled. “You know the kind that took Cinderella to her ball?”

“As long as they’re not pulled by mice!” Uma leaned against Audrey subconsciously.

“O-Oh no don’t worry!” Audrey blushed slightly. “Cinderellasburg takes cruelty against mice very seriously! When Cinderella became queen she instituted a bunch of new laws to protect the mice!”

“Wow, and Adam was okay with that?”

“Yes, because those rules only apply in Cinderellasburg!” Audrey explained. “Adam and Belle instated a bunch of laws all the kingdoms have to follow but as long as their laws don’t break them they are free to create their own laws for their kingdom only!”

“Any other examples other than the mice in Cinderellasburg?” Uma laughed.

“In Bayou De Orleans it’s legal to have alligators perform music at restaurants! Queen Tiana has her very own restaurant with an alligator playing the trumpet!”

Uma covered her mouth with her hands to keep herself from laughing harder. “Okay so, remind me to NEVER take Harry to that restaurant or else that alligator is dead!”

“Should probably tell Ben that now that they’re together,” Audrey smiled weakly. “I don’t know what he’s planning to do with Harry tomorrow but if Harry kills one of Queen Tiana’s best friends he will for sure be sent back to the island!”

“You have a phone right? Just text him!”

“Oh right,” Audrey fished out her phone. “So, do you guys have any technology at all on the island?!”

“We have… some functioning stuff,” Uma shrugged. “My mom has a fridge, a stove and a TV in the chip shop, I don’t know about the boys!”

“But no phones?”

“What good would a phone be when you don’t have WiFi?” Uma frowned. “Besides Harry, Gil and I live decently close to each other so we usually just find each other!”

“Huh…” Audrey looked towards the road as a beautiful carriage pulled by two black horses pulled up.

“Fancy!” Uma snorted. “I’ve never seen real horses in person before!”

“Would you like to pet them?” Audrey walked up to one of the horses, a small piece of carrot in her pocket.

“Sure?”

Sure they weren’t sea ponies but they were close enough until Uma could get to see real ones.

She gently reached out with her hand as the horse took the carrot from Audrey. Surprised at how nice its fur felt. It’s soft black eyes looking back at Uma while sniffing around to see if Audrey had another carrot on her.

“Beautiful animals aren’t they?”

“Yeah and so big,” Uma mumbled. “Is it true people ride on these here?”

“I do!” Audrey smiled and took Uma’s hand. leading her into the carriage. “We should be in Cinderallsburg in about an hour or so! I think you’ll like it!”

“If you say so,” Uma looked outside the window as the landscape slowly but steadily passed by. “So have you ehrm… does your family know that you and Ben are-”

“Yes,” Audrey sighed. “M-Mom and dad felt bad for me b-but my grandma-”

Uma took the princess’s hand and squeezed it tightly.

“Whatever she said it doesn’t matter! This is YOUR life! Not hers!”

“S-she said that I was supposed to be Ben’s queen a-and I just let him slip through my fingers-” Audrey looked away ashamed. “How my mother could hold onto a prince in her sleep-”

“Okay that’s a load of bullshit!” Uma spat. Even if she and Maleficent’s daughter despised each other she still knew the story of how Audrey’s parents got together. “They were set to marry as kids! And they had met just ONCE before your mom got spelled! They just got lucky they were both struck by love at first sight or else your mom and the entire kingdom would’ve been fucked!”

“Guess my parents did get really lucky…” Audrey mumbled. “You've always had such a sharp tongue?”

“You could say that,” Uma hummed. “You learn a thing or two when you’re your mom’s waitress and get all the complaints from the customers!”

“You’ve been working for your mom for how long?” Audrey frowned.

“Basically since I was old enough to carry stuff,” Uma sighed. “I will die happy if I never have to set foot in that rotting building again!”

“The building was rotting?”

“Like you wouldn’t believe!” Uma grimaced. “I didn’t even realize how bad the smell was until I got here and got to be near a kitchen that didn’t smell like rotten eggs and fish!”

“You know what-” Audrey put Uma’s hands in her own. “What if I helped you?”

“Helped me with what exactly?”

“Bringing awareness about the conditions on the island!” Audrey smiled. “I’m a princess! People will listen to me, especially Ulsted!”

Uma would’ve liked to say she kept up her usual poker face, but judging at how Audrey’s face morphed into a loud laugh she was guessing her jaw was on the floor.

“W-why would you do that?!”

“Well-” Audrey gasped, catching her breath. “We haven’t known each other for long but… you’ve already taught me so much about the island! What it’s like for you villain kids and to not go by first impressions…”

“And?” Uma frowned, sensing there was something more than just that.

“And what?” Audrey looked away. “Can’t I just say that’s how I feel?”

“I’m not saying you’re lying about your intentions I’m just saying that there seems to me more intentions than the ones you just listed so-”

“Oh look we’re here!” Audrey gasped and pulled Uma out of the carriage. “Now let’s go find that tailor or you’ll have to attend the coronation in your bathrobe!”

Chapter 15: First date

Chapter Text

“How do I look, Gilly?” Harry grinned and spun around, he was currently wearing a pair of black jeans, a white shirt and a red jacket over it.

“Very handsome!” Gil nodded, smiling. “The prince is going to faint when he sees you!”

“Uhm, let’s hope not-” Harry laughed. “I ain’t carrying around Princey for our first date! He said he’s the one picking me up!”

“Speaking of which…” Gil frowned and looked at the time. “He should be here any minute no-”

As if on cue someone knocked on the door and Harry went to open it.

“Well hello there prince-” Harry blinked at Ben’s outfit. He was wearing white pants with a blue shirt and a yellow and blue jacket to complement it. Harry wasn’t about to say anything, but either he overdressed or Ben had zero fashion sense when it came to dates.

“Wow-” Ben smiled. “For the first time I understand the difference between pretty and beautiful…”

“Oh come on now!” Harry laughed, trying to hide how the prince had made him blush. “Ye probably say that to all yer dates!”

“So far I’ve only dated Audrey so… nope!” Ben gestured to one of the helmets he was holding. “I hope you like bikes!”

Harry laughed, taking one of the helmets from Ben and let the prince lead him out as Gil closed the door again.

“Just… hold on tight to me and we’ll be there before you know it!” Ben smiled softly, climbing onto his scooter with Harry behind him.

“My my this is fancy!” Harry laughed as they drove off, seeing the landscape change from buildings to a forest, the sun shining brightly on all the green leaves and grass.

“This is our stop!” Ben announced, taking off his helmet and turning off the engine.

Harry blinked in surprise and followed Ben into the forest, though with one hand resting on his hook that was safely secured in his belt in case the prince tried anything.

“So…” Ben started when they reached a long wooden bridge. “Tell me something about yourself that you've never told anyone!”

Harry gave it a thought, almost everything about himself, Uma and Gil knew. Well, maybe small details here and there were missing, he could tell Ben one of those details.

“So uhm, “ Harry hummed. “My middle name is Liam!”

“Liam?”

“Yeah,” he nodded. “Liam! My father named me after his brother who died when he was a kid… Harrison Liam Hook, that’s my full name!”

“Your dad had a brother?” Ben frowned. “I- I never heard anything about Captain Hook’s family other than you and your sisters…”

“Again he died when father was just a kid,” Harry shrugged. “Also I call him father, not dad!”

“I see… well,” Ben pulled a bit on his sleeve. “My middle name is Florian!”

“Florian?” Harry chuckled. “How princely!”

“Yeah,” Ben blushed. “My full name is Benjamin Florian Bourbon Enfant!”

“Hmm, I think I’ll just call ye Benny or Ben!” Harry hummed. “So, where are we going?”

“We’re almost there!” Ben smiled. “But close your eyes!”

“Why?” Harry frowned.

“It’s a surprise!” Ben insisted, carefully covering Harry’s eyes as they kept walking. “Now step up… there you go and… you ready?”

“Uh- sure?”

Ben removed his hands to reveal a picnic set up by a beautiful lake that while clear shone with a bright green color.

“Woah-”

“Shall we?” Ben gently took Harry’s hand and guided him down to the picnic that consisted of all kinds of foods and sweets.

“Woah!” Harry gasped. “So much! And it’s all fresh?”

“Yeah!” Ben scooped up a jelly filled doughnut and gave it to Harry. “You had any of this on the island?”

“Most of it-” Harry said, chomping down on the pastry. “But it was usually moldy, dry, months after their expiration date or all three!”

“Is- is this your first time?” Ben asked, holding back a giggle when he saw the sugar and red jelly that now covered Harry’s mouth.

“First time on a date?” Harry frowned. “We- we don’t really date much on the island it’s more like… gang activity!”

Did that sound a bit ominous? Maybe but Harry wasn’t about to tell this goody two shoes of a prince about all the people he slept with on the island.

“No I meant-” Ben laughed. “Is this your first time eating a jelly doughnut?”

“Oh eh-” Harry scooped up a napkin and whipped off his mouth. “It’s my first time eating one fresh… if ye got a doughnut like this on the island the jelly was usually dry enough so it didn’t stick on yer face!”

“I see…” Ben looked deeper into Harry’s eyes. “So ehrm- other than your full name and who your father is I-I really don’t know that much about you yet can you… tell me more?”

Chapter 16: Our family

Chapter Text

“Well,” Harry shrugged. “I have two sisters, I’m sixteen and I’ve only lived in one place all my life!”

“Me too!” Ben smiled happily. “I-I mean living in the same place! Not the age and sisters- oh yeah you do have sisters I remember FG mentioning how Captain Hook had three children when she was sending out the invitations!”

“About that,” Harry frowned. “Why did ye only pick me? I get why ye picked Uma because she’s an only child and Gil is the youngest in his family but why me? Why not CJ?”

“I-I knew mom and dad would only agree to my first proclamation if I started small,” Ben mumbled. “As for why I didn’t pick your sisters… bringing over an entire family would’ve led to too many rumors about you plotting to take over! And I figured three people would be easy to connect with!”

“Well ye succeeded with me!” Harry laughed before his face became more serious again. “But if ye think I’m just gonna live here and be yer perfect boyfriend without my sisters I swear-”

“This is just the start!” Ben assured. “After my coronation my plan is to slowly but surely integrate more and more villain kids into Auradon! And if you want, your sisters will be in one of the first batches to go next!”

Harry bit the inside of his mouth a bit, while he missed his sisters a lot he knew this was bigger than just his family.

“I-I’ll have to talk with them first in some way but- if it came to it,” he took a deep breath. “Get the smaller kids off first, the ones who are likely struggling more to get supplies for themselves! My sisters are eighteen and fourteen and they’ve been trained well! They can handle themselves a bit longer!”

“I promise!” Ben took Harry’s hand and squeezed it tightly. “I will get the other kids off the island including your sisters! They will be integrated into Auradon and have a chance at a normal life, just like you!”

“Normal?” Harry snorted. “Benny, even if my family gets off the island our lives will be anything but normal! Yours too!”

“Okay you got me there,” Ben laughed and leaned against him. “I’m going to be king soon… but it’s not the crown that makes you a king!”

“I beg to differ,” Harry snorted. “If ye get the crown put on yer head, then yer the king, but ye decide what king you’ll be!”

“”Exactly!” Ben smiled. “Your father is a lunatic who chased a ten year old for years and I’ve got the poster parents for goodness!”

“My father’s not a lunatic!” Harry corrected. “Sure he does have his manic episodes sometimes but as long as dad’s there-”

“What do you mean dad?” Ben frowned. “You- you’re saying dad and father as if they’re two different people!”

“Well,” Harry looked down uncomfortably. “That’s because they are… I have a father and a dad!”

“O-Oh wow-” Ben blinked. “I-I didn’t know that was possible!”

“My parents are… often vague about mine and my sisters births,” Harry shrugged. “Also, dad rarely leaves our house because he’s supposed to be dead…”

“Dead?”

“Yeah, he faked his death when he was my age to escape his mother, and according to him not even magic can detect that he’s alive!”

“W-who is he?” Ben gawked, he couldn’t believe how casually Harry was explaining this.

“Well,” Harry hummed. “He is to my knowledge the first villain kid ever born, he’s not a sidekick, nor a villain, just the son of one of the most powerful sorcerers of all time!”

“Morgana Le fay!” Ben gasped. “I-I read about her! She was killed during a battle when Auradon was newly formed and it is said that she killed her own son- she didn’t?!”

“Nope!” Harry grinned. “Dad faked his death, and when father was set to be sent to the island he followed him!”

“Wow Harry your family is-”

“Amazing?” Harry laughed. “Ye I know I probably have two of the best parents on the island, granted that doesn’t say much but I’d say my childhood was good!”

“Captain Hook?!” Ben blinked. “Famous for hating children-”

“Is an okay father? Yup!”

“Wow, I have a lot to learn…”

“The only thing you need to know is my parents are one of very few exceptions!” Harry sighed. “And even they had to keep up a facade, whenever father put me and my sisters to bed he would scream at the top of his lungs, just to make sure the whole island heard that if we didn’t go to sleep he’d make us all walk the plank or hang us from the masts…”

“Why? Surely if he cared about you he’d never do that right?” Ben asked worriedly. Maybe his new boyfriend had a twisted sense of what love was.

“No,” Harry shook his head. “He never laid as much as a finger on any of us, but he couldn’t let the other villains know that!”

“Being a good parent,” Ben frowned. “Was it a bad thing on the island?”

“Yup!” Harry sighed. “Ye had to be feared, respected! Any sign of being soft and ye would be seen as weak!”

“So your parents set up games to pretend they were bad parents,” Ben nodded. “That- must’ve been hard…”

“Yeah, my sisters and I were always told to keep quiet about our home life…” Harry sighed. “Uma and Gil… are the only ones I’ve told that I have two dads and they still don’t know that they’re decent parents! I only told them because I was slipping up when calling them father and dad!”

“So,” Ben frowned. “As far as the rest of the island… and Auradon knows, your father is a single parent to three kids and is abusing them?”

“More or less!” Harry shrugged. “and until we’re all off the island we have to keep it that way, for everyone’s safety!”

“Harry I- I know your father did some bad things but,” Ben grabbed Harry’s hand, squeezing it tightly. “But if my new program is successful, maybe I can open up another program for… at least some of the old villains for some kind of rehabilitation so your parents won’t be locked up forever!”

“Don’t worry,” Harry snorted. “There won’t be that many villains available for that program, again my parents are a rare exception of decent people on the island…”

“And your father… it will be up to Wendy Darling and her brothers to decide if he’s eligible for rehabilitation or not!”

“As long as it’s not Peter Pan!” Harry growled. “One could argue he’s more of a villain than my father was! He was the one who drove father insane and made everyone see him as nothing but a monster! And he would’ve become one for real if it weren’t for my dad!”

“Your dad changed someone who was turning into a monster…” Ben couldn’t help the smile forming on his lips. “We’re more alike than I thought!”

“First off,” Harry laughed. “Yer dad was already a beast when he met yer mom!”

“He was turning more and more beast-like with every passing day,” Ben corrected. “But when he met maman, everything changed!”

“A lot is gonna change for us too!” Harry looked up at the sky. “Yer gonna be king soon!”

“And you’ll be my amazing boyfriend,” Ben took Harry’s hand and squeezed it. “my future king who will always be by my side!”

“Unless yer planning something stupid!” Harry smirked. “Then I might have to bonk ye on the head!”

Ben rolled his eyes playfully and shoved another doughnut in Harry’s mouth.

“Out of the two of us, you seem more like someone who causes trouble!”

“Whm mmsm!”

“Don’t talk with your mouth full!” Ben laughed and lightly smacked Harry’s arm. “You just told me how your parents are decent people, surely they taught you some table manners!”

Harry swallowed and laughed alongside his boyfriend.

“Dad TOLD me and my sisters about table manners,” he corrected. “Father said it was unnecessary!”

“Well maybe my parents can help you with it next week!”

“Next week?” Harry frowned, he had no idea what dating customs were in Auradon but… surely a week in was a bit early to meet your significant others’ parents???

“It’s family day at school,” Ben explained. “Mine, and most of the other students’ parents and family will be there!”

“Oh joy,” Harry muttered. “Welp, at least that’s the worst that can come from it!”

Unfortunately, just meeting Ben’s parents was far from the worst that happened that day.

Chapter 17: Disaster call

Chapter Text

It was Friday before family day would take place and for some reason Uma, Gil and Harry had all been asked to stay in their classroom after remedial goodness. As of now they were all watching Fairygodmother set up a big computer in front of them before calling them up to her.

“Um, as you know,” she started “This Sunday is family day here at Auradon Prep! And because your parents can't be here due to-uh, distance!”

Uma rolled her eyes, distance was certainly one way to put it.

“We've arranged for a special treat!” FG smiled and turned on the screen, revealing Ursula and Gaston bickering with each other over how the screen worked while Captain Hook was standing behind them, looking extremely exasperated with them both.

“Hi mom…” Uma sighed as Ursula swatted Gaston away from the screen.

“Uma-” the sea witch frowned at the other people standing with her daughter. “Ha- who’s the old bag?!”

Harry tried to hold back a laugh, he hated Ursula for how she treated Uma… but there was no doubt about who Uma got her sharp tongue from.

“This is fairy godmother mom!” Uma bit her lip, for gods sake let her mother be smart for ONCE.

“I’ll give you kids some privacy-” Fairygodmother muttered and walked out of the camera’s view.

“Gilbert!” Gaston snapped, causing the boy to flinch.

“Y-Yes sir-” Gil stared at the screen trying to keep his breathing under control.

“Gilbert, when do I get to see you again?”

While Harry could see his friend’s eyes twisting in confusion over his father actually wanting to see him again he knew that Gaston was just asking when they were gonna steal that stupid wand.

“There’s a coronation coming up!” Harry cut in. “So, hopefully after that!”

Maybe that was when he’d get Ben to set up the new program but they sure as hell wouldn’t be breaking down the barrier.

“Why not sooner?!” Ursula snapped. “I can’t wait that much longer until I’m ou- Until I see my daughter again!”

Uma and Harry both rolled their eyes. Even when pretending to care for their children Gaston and Ursula were worthless at it.

What Harry suddenly noticed was how his father, while still remaining in the background, was making gestures with his hand, not speaking… but signing letters to him.

W E M I S S U

Harry smiled to himself, even when trying to keep up appearance his father still wanted to communicate with him.

James seemingly wanted to say something else but that was when Ursula and Gaston started fighting.

“WOMEN!” Gaston growled. “Good for nothing other than cooking! And I wouldn’t even say that about you!”

“DO YOU WANT TO BE STRANGLED?!”

Before the fight escalated further, Fairygodmother shut off the call.

“I’m- so sorry!”

“Thank you for the treat…” Harry mumbled and started leading his friends out and back towards their dorms. While both of them were shaken up and probably could’ve done without today, he himself really meant his thanks.

“W-what will our parents do to us if they get here?!” Gil sniffled and curled up in the corner of their dorm.

“They won’t!” Harry snapped. “Ben won’t let them!”

“Your boyfriend might become king soon but that doesn’t mean he has the power to defeat our parents if they escape!”

“No but he has all the heroes of Auradon behind him!” Harry squeezed Uma’s hand. “Not to mention he has us! We know the island like the back of our hands and all the old villains!”

“Your father didn’t really do anything during the call,” Uma frowned. “think he’s planning something?”

“He was talking in sign language, ” Gil mumbled. “But like, only saying one letter at a time!”

“Ye try signing with a hook,” Harry snorted. “Father has known sign language for a long time… preparation for the day he’ll inevitably stand too close to a canon and lose his hearing!”

“He was very calm compared to normal,” Uma frowned. “Think he was drinking?”

“Signing while drunk?” Harry laughed. “Not likely, he probably didn’t wanna get yer mom or Gil’s dad after him!”

“Yeah I don’t blame him!” Gil sighed.

“Gil…” Uma kneeled down to the other boy. “Whatever happens, Harry and I will make sure your dad will NEVER get to you again okay?”

“Y-You can’t promise that!”

“If he ever sets foot here in Auradon I’ll have his head on a pike!” Harry growled. “And I don’t need permission for that!”

“I don’t even think Ben and his family would mind!” Uma snorted. “You know what Gaston did to them right?”

“Don’t remind me!” Gil sighed. “Gaston would scream about it all the time I-I don’t even know why Ben invited me of all people…”

“Ben said he wanted to start small,”Harry shrugged. “But between you and me, maybe inviting people named Gaston jr and Gaston the third wouldn’t have been all that great for his image!”

“I still can’t believe Gaston named his sons that!” Uma shook her head. “Although with his big ego I guess I shouldn’t be surprised!”

“Yeah, ye got lucky Gilly!” Harry laughed. “Stop seeing not having yer father’s name as a bad thing!”

“I guess…” Gil shrugged and allowed Uma to pull him up on his feet again.

“We’re gonna change Auradon!” she smiled. “For the better!”

“And the island!” Harry nodded. “Ben’s promised me we’re just the beginning, he’s going to let the other kids off too!”

“Hopefully not my brothers…” Gil muttered.

“If they ever touch ye they’re hooked!”

“And drowned!” Uma nodded. “Listen, we stick together! Because we ride-”

“With the tide!” Harry and Gil responded.

“That’s my boys!”

Chapter 18: Family day-

Chapter Text

Needless to say both Uma and Gil still seemed a bit shaken up when Sunday arrived, Harry wasn’t feeling that well himself but he suspected it was mostly just nerves from the idea of meeting Ben’s parents.

Nerves that disappeared almost immediately when he heard singing from the schoolyard, seeing Ben and most of the other students singing and dancing.

“Harry,” Uma laughed. “Are you sure about this one?”

“I’m sure!” Harry rolled his eyes playfully, pulling Gil away from devouring everything around the chocolate fountain.

“Soooo, Do we just hang out?” Uma frowned.

“I promised Ben I’d meet him after he’s taken a family picture with his parents…” Harry mumbled and walked towards where Ben stood with Belle and Adam, posing for a photo.

When Ben saw his boyfriend approaching he turned to his parents smiling nervously.

“Oh by the way maman, papa I- I have a new partner!”

“Is that so?” Adam blinked.

“Mhm…”

Belle was about to say something when she suddenly saw the young pirate approach them.

“Say son,” Adam mumbled. “Do we know this person?”

“Sort of,” Ben smiled and waved at Harry. “Hey Harry! Come here!”

Harry couldn’t help but laugh when he saw Beast and Belle’s face when they realized he was the partner Ben was referring to. But he wasn’t about to be uncivil to his boyfriend’s parents… not until they did something to deserve it.

“Your majesties!” He said and bowed. “Harrison Liam Hook!”

“Son of Captain Hook-” Adam coughed. Though if it wasn’t for the sharp hook the boy had in his belt and the fact that he’d just introduced himself with his full name it was hard to tell the boy had grown up on the island. His black hair was nicely combed and he was wearing a red and black shirt with blue jeans as well as some jewelry.

“My boyfriend!” Ben smiled and took Harry’s hand. “I was thinking maybe he could join us for lunch?”

“Of course!” Adam nodded stiffly. “Any friend of Ben’s-”

“Actually I came with my friends!” Harry said and pointed to where Gil and Uma were seemingly debating over what fruit was best for chocolate.

Ben could tell his father wanted to say something but before he could Belle cut in.

“Well you should invite them! The more the merrier!”

Harry smiled and went to get his friends while Adam pulled on Belle’s hand.

“Belle! Don’t you see who that boy is?!”

“Huh?”

Belle looked at the other boy Harry was talking to and froze. Sure the blonde hair and brown eyes was something new but- his broad muscular shape and that chin…

“Gaston’s son-”

Before they could say anything Harry and the others walked up with Ben greeting all three happily.

“C'mon guys, introduce yerself!” Harry laughed.

“Uma,” The blue-haired girl said. “Daughter of Ursula!”

“Gilbert Legume…” Gil started nervously, he was guessing the adults in front of him already knew who his father was, so why not start with the parent he actually cared about. “Son of Laurette!”

“And Gaston-” Belle tried to keep her breathing under control, unknowingly leaning more against her husband.

“Y-Yeah I guessed you already knew that…” Gil pulled on his hair nervously. “I-I uhm I promise I won’t cause any trouble y-your majesties!”

“It’s okay Gil!” Ben smiled and took the other boy’s hand. “Cmon guys how about a game of croquet before lunch?”

“W-what’s that?” Gil looked at Uma and Harry worriedly.

“Don’t worry I’ll show you!” Ben pulled the others along as the croquet was set up. “After you played so well on the tourney field this should come easy to you!”

“O-Okay,” Gil swung his club at the red ball he’d been given, sending it straight through the first hoop. “D-did I do it right?!”

“Yeah! You have an amazing aim!” Ben smiled brightly.

“Indeed,” Adam mumbled. “Did your father teach you?”

“O-Oh not really!” Gil looked at his feet. “I-I’ve taught myself most things! D-dad didn’t have time!”

“Your majesty!” A sharp voice called. “Your majesty, I must speak with you!”

Everyone turned around to see an older woman marching up to them, pulling Audrey along who seemingly didn’t want to be there at all.

“Yes queen Leah?” Adam frowned.

“Your majesty, are you seriously allowing this?!”

“Allowing- what exactly?”

“THIS!” Leah pointed a sharp finger at Harry and Ben, who were just staring at her. Ben looked extremely confused while Harry kept up a resting bitch face.

“Your son was promised to MY granddaughter!”

“I’m sorry-”

“You agreed for our children to be together!”

“Adam-” Belle looked at her husband, baffled. “Tell me you didn’t!”

“I didn’t!” Adam held his hands up and backed away from his wife a bit, Belle might’ve been more than a head shorter than him but gods no one wanted to get on her bad side. “When Leah brought over Audrey to our castle and we let our children play together I didn’t think she wanted them to be together like that! Sure I was happy when I heard they were dating because I thought she was a nice girl!”

Belle took a deep breath and rubbed her forehead, her husband had good intentions and she knew he always wanted what was best for their son but… he could be such an idiot!

“I apologize that my husband and I were unclear,” she started and reached for Ben’s hand. “We were happy that he was together with Audrey but we NEVER wanted to decide his future like that!”

“Please just drop it grammy…” Audrey mumbled quietly. “Y-yes I was upset over losing Ben but I- It doesn’t matter anymore!”

“You didn’t lose him!” Leah growled, taking a few steps closer to Harry. “YOU STOLE HIM!”

“Uhm, last I checked Ben wasn’t an object!” Harry frowned. “I didn’t steal him! And yer granddaughter doesn’t own him!”

“You got some nerve talking to me like that pirate!” The old queen spat.

“If ye think calling me a pirate is an insult ye might have to work on that!” Harry rolled his eyes. “My father never brought my sisters to a boy’s house and told them they’d have to get with that boy!”

He could tell that the old queen wanted to say something more before her attention turned to Gil who was more or less hiding behind Uma.

“Oh now I know you have completely lost your senses!” She growled. “DO YOU KNOW WHO THAT BOY IS?!”

“That is quite enough Queen Leah!” Belle snapped and stepped in front of the kids. “We are not here to judge these children for what their parents did!”

“And if yer gonna bring up my father’s crimes ye better talk about Peter Pan too!” Harry spat. “That brat has been getting away with kidnapping children for FAR too long!”

“And they aren’t that bad grammy!” Audrey smiled weakly at Uma, who seemed utterly baffled that the queen of Auradon was protecting them.

Belle was about to say something else when Leah grabbed her arm, and that’s when all hell broke loose.

“GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF MY WIFE!” Adam roared, causing the whole yard to shake and everyone’s attention turned to them.

Harry was standing beside Ben with his jaw on the ground while Ben looked like he wanted to sink into the ground and never come up again.

“Papa! Please calm down!” he pleaded as Belle pulled her arm out of the old queen’s grasp. “Queen Leah, you remember my proclamation to give the new generation a chance?”

“A chance to what Ben?!” The old queen responded, though she still seemed a bit shaken up by Adam’s scream. “Destroy us?!”

“E-EVERYONE JUST S-STOP!”

Chapter 19: -chaos

Chapter Text

Belle froze when she saw how the boy behind her was shaking, clinging tightly onto Uma as if his life depended on it. “I-I know I don’t deserve to be here b-but please don’t send me back!”

“Gilly,” Harry carefully approached his friend with Ben following behind him. “Gilly it’s okay none of us are going back-”

“P-Please I’ll do anything-” Gil choked out, slumping down on his knees in front of Belle and Adam. “J-Just don’t send me back- p-please just… If you don’t want me here just kill me instead! P-Please don’t send me back please!”

Before anyone else could react Belle kneeled down to the boy, looking him deeply into his bloodshot eyes. When Ben had told her he wanted to bring over a child of Gaston she had panicked, asking Adam to set up extra guards outside their bedroom and ran a thousand of scenarios in her head of what she would do if this boy was sent on a mission by his father to kill her husband.

She felt a pang in her heart when she realized the truth.

In front of her wasn’t a villain or even a hengeman, this was a boy younger than her own son begging them for death rather than being sent back to his home. His eyes showed none of Gaston’s hate, anger or entitlement, just terror and pain, so much pain for someone so young.

“You’re not going back,” Belle whispered softly. “You’re safe here!”

“Maybe we should give him space-” Adam reached out to help his wife up when Chad of all people marched up to them.

“Chad,” Ben frowned as Harry stepped in front of Gil, raising his hook protectively. “What are you doing?”

“Well I figured the picnic won’t be enjoyable for anyone if he’s having a panic attack!” Chad muttered as he fished out a napkin from his pocket.

“Chad-”

“Would you just let me work my magic?!” Chad snapped before anyone could stop him, kneeling down to Gil and gently moving the napkin up to his face.

“What are ye doing?!” Harry hissed, ready to hook the prince if he had to.

“W-what is that-” Gil mumbled, seemingly calming down a bit. “S-smells like-”

“Magic?” Chad grinned. “The best men’s cologne in all of Auradon! Made from the best flowers all the way from Motunui!”

“M-Mhm….” Gil nodded, not really caring what Chad was saying. The napkin smelled good and deafened the sound of his racing heart.

“H-How did you know that would work?!” Uma stared as the prince helped Gil to his feet.

“Well, A magician never reveals his secret, you should know that!” Chad smirked before turning his attention back to Gil. “Do you want to go back to your dorm, or… are you hungry or-”

“I-I just need to sit-” Gil said, his voice muffled a bit as he was still holding the napkin close to his face. “Y-you can have this back-”

“Keep it,” Chad muttered. “I have more cologne at home and I don’t want a napkin you’ve had in your face back-”

“T-Thanks!” Gil smiled weakly and made his way to one of the empty tables, trying to focus on the distracting smell rather than everyone looking at him.

“I feared something like this would happen…” Adam sighed and rubbed his head.

“Papa, this isn’t their fault!” Ben pleaded.

“You’re right son-” Belle nodded and turned her attention to Queen Leah. “Your majesty, I can’t see how you have anything more of value to say to us! So I suggest you leave!”

“Well- If you all insist on letting these- villains run rapid you can count Ulsted out when we’re all attacked an-”

“Queen Leah!” Adam growled, Belle holding tightly onto his arm to remind him to not roar over the whole yard again. “You are the acting regent of Ulsted as of now but the final say will fall to your daughter and king Philip! You don’t have any right to change Ulsted’s support to the rest of Auradon without their approval!”

Uma frowned, what Adam was saying implied that Audrey’s parents for some reason weren't the current rulers of their kingdom while her grandmother was taking care of most of the… queen stuff.

Speaking of queens the old queen in front of her looked like she was about to explode but with everyone glaring at her it was clear she would not come out of this situation getting her way.

“I need to make sure Gilly is okay!” Harry muttered and marched up to the table where Gil was sitting getting fed grapes by Chad. … GETTING FED GRAPES BY CHAD?!

“Am I interrupting something?”

Chad shot up from his seat at the sudden noise and straightened himself.

“No- I was just ehrm… making sure we wouldn’t have another panic attack before Queen Leah left!” the prince huffed. “Clearly I was the only one who knew how to calm him down!”

“That was very nice of you,” Gil smiled weakly. “I didn’t think you liked me that much!”

“I-I don’t!” Chad muttered. “But- with what just happened today you will need some company for the coronation tomorrow since your friend will be riding with Ben- I’ll pick you up outside your dorm before it starts!”

“Hey!” Harry growled. “Gilly is more than capable of taking care of himself!”

“Harry it’s-” Gil looked at Chad who was looking at the ground. “It’s okay! Chad isn’t that bad! And Chad, I-I really appreciate what you did today even if I still don’t know why you did it!”

“Well,” Chad huffed. “You’re our star player for tourney and- I need someone strong by my side during the coronation!”

“So you just want him as a free body guard?” Uma frowned as she approached with Audrey behind her, said princess looking as shaken up as Gil.

“I’m sure Chad didn’t mean it like that,” Audrey mumbled. “Besides, it’s just for a few hours… After Ben is coronated they’ll have this big party where we all get to dance with each other!”

Harry and Uma looked at each other hesitantly before turning back to Gil to see what he thought.

“I-it sounds fun!” he smiled. “And, you want to go with me?”

He looked back at the prince who was seemingly studying the rings on his fingers.

“Well your pirate friends are both going to be occupied during the coronation anyways,” he shrugged. “Don’t wanna look awkward standing there alone during the celebration right?”

“Uhm,” Gil frowned. “I know Harry will be up front with Ben but Uma won’t be busy! … Right?”

Uma was about to respond when Audrey grabbed her wrist, looking down at the ground sheepishly.

"Actually I-” Audrey swallowed. Gods she was a princess this shouldn’t be that big of a deal! “I-I was thinking maybe you could go to the coronation… with me?”

Chapter 20: The real prince Charming

Chapter Text

Harry covered his mouth to keep in his laughter while Gil and Uma both looked like they couldn’t believe their ears.

“Are- are you asking me out?!”

“NO!” Audrey turned around, trying to hide her blush. “It would just- It’s good for our whole campaign in improving the conditions on the island! The future rulers of Cinderellasburg, Ulsted and Auradon getting along with the kids who were brought over? It will show the people we’re more equal than they think!”

“Oh! Is that why you asked me Chad?” Gil smiled at the prince.

“... I just explained why I want to go with you but sure- let’s go with that!”

Gil nodded, happily eating the rest of his grapes.

“Hey guys,” Ben walked up to them, looking very ashamed. “How… how are all of you holding up?”

“Better,” Gil smiled. “Chad took care of me!”

“Just to avoid further drama!” Chad stated. “Since all of you were incompetent idiots who didn’t know how to handle panic attacks!”

“Yeah yeah Chad,” Audrey rolled her eyes. “You’ve flexed enough!”

“HEY!”

Harry rolled his eyes as Gil gently grabbed Chad’s hand.

“You… are you actually blonde?”

Chad froze and backed up. The fuck was this kid talking about?!

“How did you know it was fake?!” Audrey frowned. “You have brown eyes and blonde hair too-”

“People have all kinds of hair colors on the island…” Gil shrugged. “After a while you learn what colors are natural and what are dyed! Like- Uma has natural blue hair! But some kids on the island dye their hair to look cool!”

“Well if you absolutely need to know-” Chad huffed. “Blonde is very trendy here in Auradon! Not my fault you can’t keep up!”

“Blue,” Audrey deadpanned. “His natural hair color is blue, like his mom!”

"AUDREY-"

“Blue?!” Gil gasped. “That’s so cool! Why are you dying it blonde?!”

Chad looked down on the ground, contemplating if shoving Audrey was worth the guaranteed beat down he would get.

“First off, if you saw my blue hair you would think it’s ridiculous! Second- blonde hair is just better!”

“Uh… what are you talking about?” Gil frowned. “Blue hair is the coolest! It’s like Uma’s!”

“You know what-?!” Chad cursed himself a bit before continuing. “When I pick you up tomorrow I’ll show you how I look with my natural hair color and you’ll see how stupid it actually looks!”

“I’m sure you’ll look very handsome either way!” Gil shrugged. “You’re just that kind of guy… but looks aren’t everything!”

“Ain’t that the truth!” Uma snorted, looking to where Queen Leah was sitting by herself still looking very angry. “That woman may look good for an old hag but gods her behavior would put Hades to shame!”

“Well I’ll let you know that I am very charming!” Chad grinned. “It’s even in my name! Prince Chadwick Henry Charming!”

“... Okay that’s the last time I complain about my name!”

“But I think Uma’s a nice name!” Gil smiled. “And Charming is a… very unique last name! Where did you get it from?”

“My dad’s name is Henry Charming,” Chad frowned. “That’s usually how it works?”

“Yeah! My last name is Legume after Gaston!” Gil nodded.

“Well then,” Chad stood up and shook his hand. “Gilbert Legume, you better be ready tomorrow at ten AM because I’m picking you up at your dorm!”

As Chad walked away Gil looked at his friends, mainly Audrey who looked like she couldn’t believe her eyes, or ears.

“Uhm… Audrey?!” Uma called, poking the other girl’s arm. “Auradon to Audrey! Are you there?!”

Instead of answering her friend Audrey turned with her wide eyed stare at Gil.

“W-what have you done with Chad?!”

Gil looked down. “I-I don’t know! What do you mean?!”

“Chad- I have NEVER seen Chad like this!” Audrey rubbed her head. “Not since he asked me out before I got together with Ben!”

“Chad asked you out?!” Both Ben and Uma exclaimed.

“Well we’ve been friends for a long time!” Audrey explained. “A-and I could tell he was being genuine unlike when he then started flirting with every girl he met- When you made the proclamation to invite you here form the island he said he’d make it known he wasn’t even going to TOLERATE you and now this?!”

“So he’s just asking me to go with him to make fun of me…” Gil sighed.

“No!” Audrey exclaimed. “No and that’s what I can’t understand- he was being genuine! I-I just- How?! When?!”

Gil blinked and thought back on his interactions with the prince, the way he strangely didn’t seem that angry when they accidentally bumped into each other after chemistry class when they first met, the prince commenting on his muscles and how strong he was at the first tourney practice… the way he had insisted Gil joined him when the coach called him to the field.

Chapter 21: Beauty and the beast

Chapter Text

“I-I think he has a crush on me-” Gil gasped. “O-Oh gods this has never happened before!”

“... You’re Gaston’s son and no one has ever had a crush on you before?!” Audrey said in disbelief.

“Not boys,” Gil explained. “Yes I had girls after me on the island because they knew who my father was and… by island standards I was pretty good looking but I’ve never had a boy who was into me- that I know of at least!”

“Well this is gonna be exciting!” Uma grinned. “We all have dates for the coronation now!”

“It’s not a date!” Audrey exclaimed. “Just- helping a good cause”

Uma was about to call bullshit on the ‘not a date thing’ when Ben’s parents walked up to them.

“We wanted to give you some space-” Adam mumbled awkwardly. “But are you all okay?”

Gil bit his lip and looked nervously at Belle and Adam, they both looked… fine? Not mad, Adam looked like he was lost in his own thoughts while Belle looked worried.

“Y-yeah I feel better,” Gil smiled weakly. “Chad… really helped me!”

“He’s a good young man,” Belle hummed. “We’re so sorry for the trouble Leah caused, I should’ve put a stop to it sooner!”

“And I-” Adam coughed, shifting his feet uncomfortably. “I shouldn’t have roared like I did- I wanted to protect my wife but not only can she handle herself I-I didn’t take into account how loud I can get!”

“Gaston was wrong,” Gil laughed weakly. “You don’t look hideous, you do look like you do on TV! Gaston kept telling me and my brothers they put some weird lens on the camera to make you look normal!”

While what the boy was saying was absurd to say the least, Belle couldn’t help but laugh a little.

“How- how does your father describe me?” Adam frowned, though he was unsure if he wanted the answer.

“Covered in fur,” Gil looked down, he was scared that the king would get mad at him for being truthful, but he would probably be even more mad if he refused to answer. “With big scary fangs like a bear, giant paws with sharp claws and a hunched position so it’s hard to tell if you walk on all four or up right…”

Adam took a deep breath, while his old villain had certainly over exaggerated certain parts of the story for his son. It wasn’t that far from the truth.

“Well- your father did have a point,” he said. “I used to look like that until Belle saved me!”

“Gaston said you spelled her,” Gil mumbled. “That she was really in love with him but you kidnapped her-”

“That’s not true,” Belle sighed and explained what actually happened. “I don’t know how your relationship with your father is but to me… he was not a good man!”

“Not even before he met you?” Gil asked quietly. “At school they would tell stories about the great Gaston! What a great man he was and all the beasts he slayed!”

“Kid,” Adam grimaced. “I hate to break it to you but those stories are more than likely inflated to make your father look better!”

“I-I thought he used to be good!” Gil sobbed and pulled on his hair. “T-That if he and Belle got married I-I would’ve had a mom who wasn’t dead and a dad who loved me-”

“Oh dear,” Belle sat down next to him, much to Harry’s annoyance and put a hand on his shoulder. “I’m so sorry your life turned out like that, but I don’t think things would’ve been much different if your father married me instead!”

“Let’s not kid ourselves!” Adam shook his head. “If we didn’t meet I would’ve remained a beast forever!”

Gil sniffles, Ben looked so calm around his parents even when his father got angry. Adam had so far not even raised a hand at anyone except Queen Leah and even that was mainly just a roar.

“Y-You never hit your wife King Adam?” he asked. “Or Ben?”

“What th-NO!” Ben looked at Gil horrified. “Papa has never hurt anyone! … Not since he became human again!”

“Must be nice,” Gil wanted to shrink away in his seat. “I-I’m sorry for bothering you, your majesties!”

“Don’t worry about it!” Belle smiled warmly. “If you need anything don’t be scared to come to us, I hope you can have a good time with prince Chad at the coronation tomorrow!”

Gil nodded weakly, getting up from his seat and making his way back to his dorm with Uma behind him.

“I need to make sure he’s really okay!” Harry muttered, giving Ben a quick kiss on the cheek before darting after his friends.

Ben was left with his parents, head reeling over what had just transpired.

“Gods what has that poor child been through?!” Belle sighed.

“I-I haven’t asked Harry about it that much,” Ben mumbled. “But he’s told me good parents are very rare on the island…”

“When Gaston tried to pursue me he said he wanted six or seven boys,” Ben shuddered. “Surely he would be happy with every child of his that was a boy?”

“I don’t know I’m not as close with Gil as I am with Harry,” Ben shrugged. “but speaking of them-”

He took a deep breath as he told his parents about Harry’s family as well as his plans to integrate more villain kids and perhaps even some old villains after his coronation.

“Morgie Le Fay is still alive?!” Belle frowned. “And he’s Harry’s dad?”

“Yup,” Ben sighed. “and while I know Captain Hook’s done some bad things he seems to be a good father and husband! And most of his crimes are against the Darling family who I’ll speak with before I move him in together with his children!”

“Well son,” Adam shrugged. “I did always tell you that a king has to believe in himself! Even when it isn't easy!”

“You mean you’re okay with it?” Ben grinned.

“First off, there’s no stopping your coronation when it’s literally tomorrow!” Adam laughed. “Second, what happened today showed all of us that things aren’t always as black and white as they seem… and I’m sorry for not seeing it sooner!”

“We’re both very proud of you dear,” Belle smiled warmly. “keep listening to your heart!”

“Thanks maman!”

“Now… all three of us need to get ready for the big day tomorrow! Come on now!”

Ben nodded and followed his parents to their carriage, taking a deep breath as he replayed today’s events as well as pondering what would happen tomorrow.

Surely nothing else would happen.

Chapter 22: Got a date?

Chapter Text

Uma looked at herself in the mirror one last time as she waited for Audrey to arrive. Gods knows how she got the future king’s old girlfriend to ask her out but if this meant bringing more attention to her cause then why not. Plus it’s not like the girl in question was bad-looking, if only she would stop denying her intentions.

“You’re so lucky you got a date to the coronation!” Jane sighed. “I’ll be stuck standing next to mom for all of it!”

“It’s not a date,” Uma chuckled. “At least that’s what Audrey keeps telling me… and probably herself!”

“Still,” Jane looked at herself too. “what I wouldn’t give for a date- or even someone to ask me to just go as friends!”

“Jane,” Uma sighed. “For the love of everything there’s more to life than validation from others!”

Gods if this girl ever set foot on the island she’d be killed before she even knew what was happening. Sure maybe it was the island-life talking again but Uma couldn’t for the life of her understand how someone could worry so much about if other people liked them or not.

“One thing that worked on the island that I have no doubt will work here as well is that when you feel confident in yourself, people will come to you!”

With that Uma got up and decided to wait outside the dorm for Audrey.

As luck would have it she spotted the princess walking towards her as soon as she peeked her head out of the door. Wearing a bright pink dress down to her ankles and a sparkling tiara.

“Woah princess you look-” Uma thought about what was best to say. “Princessy!”

“So do you,” Audrey smiled when she saw all the scales on Uma’s dress sparkle as the light from the lamps in the hall reflected on them. “As if you were a princess of Atlantica!”

“Well,” Uma laughed. “Technically I am even if my mom lost her royal status ages ago!”

“Oh yeah she’s Triton’s sister!” Audrey hummed as she led Uma outside. “Perhaps we can ask Ben to pull some strings and restore your-”

“No thanks!” Uma frowned. “I don’t need to be a princess! That was never a goal for me…”

“You’d be a good princess,” Audrey smiled. “You move like a queen-”

Uma’s eyes widened for a moment as she felt her face heat up.

“W-what do you mean by that?”

“NOTHING!” Audrey blurted out before quickly pulling Uma outside and into the carriage that was waiting for them. “S-so ehrm… first party in a while huh?”

“I guess,” Uma hummed. “Last party I went to was CJ’s super sinister thirteen and even then Harry asked me to keep it low-”

“Super sinister wh-”

“Super sinister thirteen,” Uma explained. “A tradition on the isle of the lost that your thirteenth birthday was a big deal although mine wasn’t that great…”

“Oh so like a sweet sixteen here!” Audrey hummed. “Wait- what do you mean yours weren't great?”

“So Maleficent is kinda the queen of the island and her daughter and I share the same birthday,” Uma sighed. “almost everyone went to her daughter’s party instead of mine…”

“O-Oh I-” Audrey shifted her feet. “I’m so sorry!”

“It’s fine,” Uma shrugged. “birthdays are overrated anyways!”

“Well-” Audrey pouted. “For your next birthday I’ll arrange your party!”

“Audrey that’s really not-”

Before Uma could finish her protest their carriage stopped and she was pulled out.

“Woah- this is even fancier than the chapel Frollo built on the island!” she gasped when she saw the building.

“Well it is an old chapel!” Audrey explained. “But it’s not used for religious practices anymore!”

Uma nodded as they walked inside to find their seats.

“So Ben and Harry should be here in about an hour,” Audrey informed. “Harry and Ben’s parents will walk up first and stand at the altar close to FG, Ben will walk in last so he can be crowned in front of everyone!”

“Where is your family?” Uma frowned as she saw how many of her classmates were there already and most of them had their parents with them.

"Oh, they…" Audrey looked down at the floor. “After what my grandmother caused yesterday my parents weren’t sure if she should be here but they told me to not worry about it and we’ll see if they come with or without her!”

“And how are you feeling about that?”

Audrey paused, truly she hadn’t thought that much about what or how she was feeling. She had just been so focused on planning to make sure Uma would be able to enjoy the coronation. She wanted to make sure she had a good time.

She wanted to make sure Uma would have a good time with… her.

“Uma I-I need to tell you something-”

“Yes?” Uma smirked, having a feeling that she knew what Audrey was about to say.

“I-I think I’m-”

“UMA!”

Chapter 23: Royal chaos

Chapter Text

Both girls turned around to see Gil and Chad walking up to them and Uma had to rub her eyes when she saw the prince. His hair was now a bright blue color and she could tell it was natural like hers.

“Hi Uma!” Gil smiled. “Look! Isn’t Chad so handsome like this?!”

“He sure is!” Audrey laughed seeing her friend’s red face. “Happy someone finally got him to stop hiding it!”

“Shut up!” Chad snapped. “When’s the coronation beginning?!”

“In about thirty minutes….” Audrey shrugged, wondering what was taking her parents so long. “Did you boys get here smoothly?”

“Mhm!” Gil nodded happily. “Chad showed up at my dorm like he said he would and he led me to the carriage like I was his princess!”

“GIL!” Chad flushed and turned around. “Never mind that- my parents will be here soon!”

With that four adults walked up to them, along with a little girl with bright blue hair like Chad’s.

“Chaddie!” The girl smiled happily and ran up to Chad.

“Hi there Chlo!” Chad smiled and scooped her up. “And mom and dad!”

Gil looked at Chad’s parents, they were just like when he saw them on TV, king Charming had black hair with blue streaks in it and brown eyes while queen Cinderella had blue hair in a slightly darker shade than her children tightly tied up in a big braid.

Gil froze when his mind went back to their titles. King and queen- oh gods!

“Y-Your majesties!” he sputtered out and bowed. “I-It’s a pleasure to meet you!”

“You have a new boyfriend, big brother?” the little girl who was presumably Chad’s sister asked.

“NO!” Chad exclaimed. “W-we just went here together because I was sure he would get lost otherwise an-”

“You’re the kids my mother was ranting about,” the woman who was with Charming and Cinderella frowned. “Gaston’s son and Ursula’s daughter?”

Gil looked down in shame and nodded.

“A-and you are?”

“Queen Aurora of Ulsted,” the woman responded. “and this is my husband Philip!”

“My parents!” Audrey smiled weakly. “Where’s grammy?”

“Still in the carriage,” Philip sighed. “She says she’ll only come once the coronation starts because she doesn't want to see the prince’s new boyfriend more than necessary…”

“We’re so sorry it ended like that between you two!” Aurora mumbled softly and stroked her daughter’s hair.

“It’s- It’s okay mom-” Audrey grabbed Uma’s hand. “Harry’s not as bad as I thought! None of them are!”

“Oh-” Philip blinked at Uma. “Sorry I don’t think I asked your name?”

“It’s Uma!” she smiled and bowed.

“I see,” Philip politely took the girl’s hand and kissed it. “Pleasure to meet you young lady!”

Uma gently yanked her hand away and frowned at the king.

“Traditions when meeting a lady,” Audrey smiled. “you didn’t have that on the island?”

“Take a wild guess,” Uma rolled her eyes at the other girl playfully. “But don’t touch me without asking or you’ll regret it!”

“She’s just like you Audrey,” Aurora hummed. “Feisty young woman!”

“Why thank you, your majesty!” Uma laughed and bowed again. Happy that the queen seemed nothing like her mother.

Speaking of that old hag…

“Oh Audrey dear you look gorgeous!” Leah smiled as she approached, her face hardening when she saw Uma and Gil. “I- see your friends are here as well-”

“Yes they are,” Aurora nodded. “And I for one am happy that King Benjamin’s proclamation to give the villain kids a chance has been proven successful!”

“Well he’s not king yet!” Leah muttered.

“He will be in just a few minutes!” Charming cut in as they heard the choir starting to sing as Belle and Adam sat down on their thrones and Harry was led to stand not far away from them.

The doors opened and Ben started walking down the aisle, everyone bowing as he passed them.

Belle and Adam got up from their seats to greet the fairy godmother as she greeted both of them before gently taking the crown off of Adam’s head.

Ben reached them and slowly got down on his knees, Fairygodmother placing the crown on his head.

Adam gently lifted the glass case the wand was in with Belle grabbing it and gently handing it to Fairygodmother.

“Do you solemnly swear to govern the people of Auradon with justice and mercy as long as you shall reign?” She asked, although to Uma it sounded more like an announcement.

“I solemnly swear!” Ben smiled.

“Then it is my duty and honor,” Fairygodmother said as she gently tapped both of Ben’s shoulders with her wand. “to bless our new ki-”

Before anyone could register exactly what was happening because everyone was focused on Ben and fairy godmother, someone ran up and snatched the wand from her sending a bolt of lightning from it.

Chapter 24: It's over... isn't it?

Chapter Text

“QUEEN LEAH WHAT HAS GOTTEN INTO YOU?!” Adam roared as Ben ran towards Harry to shield him from the sparks as it was clear that Leah was trying to aim for him and his friends.

“If none of you will deal with these villains I'll do it myself!” Leah growled as she tried to aim another spell at Harry. “Bibbidi-bobbidiboo!”

“HARRY!”

Harry wasn’t sure how it happened but when he tried to dodge the sparks that flew out of the wand some kind of green barrier appeared around him, blocking the spell.

“T-the fuck-” he gasped as he looked down to see if there was anything he could do he noticed that there were green sparks coming out of his hands. The exact same shade of green that the barrier protecting him was.

“Harry h-how the fuck are you doing that?!” Uma exclaimed as she quickly wrestled the wand out of Leah’s hands and aimed it at her. “Try me hag!”

“Uma!” Fairy Godmother called. “Give me the wand sweetie!”

Uma looked around, Aurora and Philip were holding Leah back from attempting to grab the wand again while everyone else had their eyes on her.

She could take down the barrier now… set all of the kids and-

“UMA WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”

Uma whipped around to see Chad and Audrey standing only a few feet away from her, Audrey giving her a look of- half betrayal.

“L-listen princess!” Uma’s voice was more unsteady than she’d liked. “There are so many kids on the island who deserve a better life!”

“And they will get it!” Ben piped up. ”but not like this!”

“Uma- give me the wand!” Harry reached out his hand.

“STAND BACK!”

“UMA PLEASE THIS ISN’T YOU I KNOW YOU!” Audrey pleaded.

“Do you?” Uma frowned.

“Okay maybe I don’t know ALL about you but I know you’re a good person! You want what’s best for the other kids on the island but this- this will just put everyone in danger, this isn't what you want please!”

Uma was clenching the wand shaking.

“Uma please I-I…” Audrey swallowed. “I-I think I love you!”

Uma almost dropped the wand in shock, sure she had had her suspicions with how willingly the princess had helped her but… this?!

“Audrey-” Uma bit her lip. “Audrey, you don’t know what I've been through!”

“M-Maybe I don’t but I-” Audrey looked at her parents for courage. “I’m listening to my heart! A-and it’s telling me that you’re so much more than this!”

“Well that isn’t how the world works!” Uma growled. “Villains- don’t just get their happily ever after handed to them! They have to work day and night to stay alive and maybe- just if they’re lucky they get a life they can be okay with!”

"Uma, please!" Audrey took a few steps closer. “If you have shown me anything during the time I’ve known you it’s that you are anything but a villain!”

“We’ll make sure the kids of the island get their chance to live a better life!” Ben reached out his hand. “I promise!”

“I-I…”

Before Ben could do it Audrey grabbed Uma’s hand and looked into her eyes.

“Uma- I love you!”

Uma trembled before letting go of the wand, Harry catching the object before it hit the ground.

“I-I don’t wanna live like this,” she croaked out. “I-I never want to go back there b-but I can’t just leave the others trapped there!”

“You won’t!” Audrey grabbed Uma and pulled her into a hug. “Uma- you’ve never forgotten about the island! Ever since you came here your priority has been to make things better for people like you! I know you will do what’s best! I love you!”

This was the third time the princess had outright admitted her affection, and if Uma was in her normal head-space she would be bent over laughing at the fact that queen Leah had seemingly fainted hearing her granddaughter falling for not only another woman, but someone from the island no less.

“We’ll do this!” Audrey smiled. “Together!”

“We’re all in too!” Harry grinned, now daring to step closer.

“You guys-” Uma sniffled. Letting her guard down to hug Audrey with Harry, Ben and Gil joining. Gil pulling Chad into it as well.

Uma smiled weakly as they pulled away, feeling her new family around her for a moment before a strong bellowing shook the building.

“HELLO AURADON!” A familiar voice called, making everyone freeze.

Chapter 25: Final battle (Finally)

Chapter Text

Without hesitation Uma grabbed both Harry and Gil, running out of the chapel towards the nearest beach with everyone following them.

“CHILD WHAT ARE YO-” Fairy godmother started to scream but stopped dead in her tracks when she saw Ursula emerging from the water.

“Hello mother,” Uma growled. “I can't say I’m happy to see you!”

“A-are the rest of our parents here too?!” Gil asked, partially hiding behind Harry at the thought of seeing his dad again.

“Gaston and Hook?!” Ursula cackled. “As if they could ever swim through the hole!”

“Oh mother, what have you done?!” Aurora mumbled to herself looking horrified.

Realizing that Ursula was the only one they were up against, Harry and Gil both pulled out their swords that they had smuggled into the coronation and stood beside their friend.

“Uma,” Gil bit his lip nervously. “Do you have a plan?”

“Honestly I am winging it!” Uma shrugged. “LAY AS MUCH AS A HAND ON ME OR MY FRIENDS AND YOU’RE OVER!”

"UNGRATEFUL BRAT!” Ursula spat as she swung her tentacle at the group. “AFTER ALL I’VE DONE FOR YOU!”

“DONE FOR ME?!” Uma stared at her mother, appalled. “I’VE BEEN YOUR SLAVE FOR SIXTEEN YEARS!”

“ALL YOU’VE BROUGHT ME IS PAIN AND MISERY! YOU’RE LUCKY I DIDN’T KILL YOU!”

“OH THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE BRUISES AND SCARS THEN!” Uma laughed sarcastically. “I HAVE FINALLY GOTTEN A REAL FAMILY AND YOU WILL NOT TAKE THAT FROM ME!”

“CHILDREN STAND BACK!” Belle screamed. The guards were already preparing to attack with cannons and everything else that Auradon had.

Harry shook his head as he quickly tossed FG the wand before charging at Ursula.

“Bibbidi-bobbidi-”

“Boo-” Ursula mimicked menacingly as she reached for the woman with her tentacle.

“WATCH OUT!” Harry screamed and darted towards his headmistress, now the plan was originally to just tackle her out of the way but then it appeared again. That weird green barrier that had protected him from Leah’s spell.

“Okay… THE FUCK IS THIS?!” he exclaimed before turning his attention back to FG. “Ye gonna use that thing or what?!”

“UMA GIL STAND BACK!” Adam yelled as the guards started lighting the cannons, thankfully both kids listened and fell back to where Harry was standing as FG was seemingly trying to come out of shock.

“We don’t have time for this shit-” Harry muttered and snatched the wand from her, passing it to Uma. “Yer the one with magic!”

“Here goes nothing,” Uma muttered and aimed the wand at her mom. “Bibbidi-bobbidiboo!”

Another blast came out of the wand and hit the old sea witch just as the cannons did, though Uma wasn’t sure which one was more effective but she was not about to give her mother a chance to escape and dove into the water while everyone had to shield themselves as there were smoke and water everywhere.

“UMA?!” Harry yelled when the smoke cleared. “UMA WHERE ARE YOU?!”

He was about to try to dive into the water himself before Ben tackled him.

“BEN LET ME GO OR I SWEAR I-”

“Harry!” Ben growled. “You have no idea what’s in the water! Uma’s Atlantican not you, she’ll be fine!”

“Ye don’t know that! Ye just saw what Ursula did an-”

“Hi Boys!”

Ben, Harry and Gil looked in awe as Uma emerged from the water, looking almost exactly like Ursula had but with a small sea slug on her arm.

“Hold fire!” Ben ordered as he walked up to her. “Uma what happened?! Where’s Ursula?!”

“Right here!” Uma grinned and gestured to the sea slug. “The wand really did a doozy on her!”

“Speaking of which, can you give that back?”

“Oh yeah right!” Uma swiftly tossed the wand back to FG. “Now stand back or else you’ll all get soaked!”

With that Uma lowered herself creating a big whirlpool around her before a bunch of water came up from the surface before she appeared on the beach as her normal self. Her dress completely dry but Ursula still on her arm.

“You turned yer mom into a slug?!” Harry laughed.

“Yup!” Uma grinned. “So we gonna get back to the coronation or what?”

“Uhm the beach is pretty much destroyed,” Ben muttered. “we should clean it up!”

“Or FG can just use that fancy wand of hers!” Uma rolled her eyes. “I’m hungry!”

“Me too!” Gil nodded. “Chad, did you bring anything?”

“What?!” Chad huffed. “You think I just carry food around wherever I go?! … Here!”

He dug into his pocket and fished out a chocolate bar that he handed to Gil.

“Uma!” Audrey rushed up and hugged the other girl tightly. “I’m so glad you’re okay!”

“Woah princess!” Uma laughed. “You’re gonna get both our dresses crinkly!”

“Oh- forget about the stupid dress!” Audrey snorted, refusing to let go.

“Who are you and what have you done to Audrey Rose?!” Chad gawked.

“Shut up Chad!” Audrey laughed.

“You all did so well!” FG smiled warmly, wand raised. “Now let’s clean up this mess shall we?”

Everyone nodded and backed up a bit as FG waved her wand around singing her usual chant, the beach returning to normal as she did so.

“Well now that’s all settled,” Uma sighed. “What am I gonna do with my mom?”

“... Eat her?” Harry shrugged.

“EW WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!” Chad exclaimed.

“If you’d like to, you can keep her as… kinda a pet I guess,” Adam frowned. “She shouldn’t be able to turn back to normal without someone helping her!”

“Hear that mom?” Uma laughed. “You’ll get to see everything Auradon has to offer a sea slug and more!”

“Yea yea,” Harry rolled his eyes playfully. “We gonna have a party for Ben’s coronation or what?”

“If everyone still feels like having it!” Ben smiled.

“Maybe we can tone down the fireworks a bit,” Belle laughed. “but I think we all could use some food and drinks now!”

“YES!” Gil cheered as they all went back into the chapel, drinks and foods of all kinds were already placed throughout the hall.

“Harry may I speak with you?”

Harry frowned but allowed himself to be pulled aside by FG who looked at him concerned.

“Yes ma’am?”

“Tell me- your dad is actually Morgie Le Fay Hook right?”

“Yes,” Harry nodded. “What’s it to ya?”

“You are aware that he’s a sorcerer?”

“Kinda hard to forget that considering his maiden name,” Harry shrugged. “Why?”

“So you knew you had magic before you came to Auradon?”

Harry froze, oh gods how could he have been so stupid OF COURSE the barrier that protected him was magic- what else could it have been?! And the fact that his hands where sparkling- oh gods he was an idiot…

“I-I didn’t think,” He looked down. “I didn’t think so! When I was a wee lad dad tried to show me and my sisters what little magic he had that still worked despite the barrier but… none of us showed any signs of it until now I guess?”

“The barrier kept your magic from growing,” FG nodded. “But now that you’ve been out for a month it has had time to come to you and from what I’ve observed it only comes out whenever you are in extreme danger!”

“Kinda figured that considering what happened with Leah and Ursula,” Harry shrugged. “What's gonna happen with Leah anyways?”

“She’s…” FG sighed. “Don’t worry about that dear okay? And you shouldn’t think or try to use your magic! It’s dangerous!”

“It saved both ye and me when Ursula attacked!” Harry frowned.

“But you have no control over it! Please do not put yourself and others in danger!”

Harry suppressed a groan, gods this woman was weird! Whatever he could just ask his dad about it when he finally saw him again.

“Harry there you are!” Ben sighed in relief as he ran up to them.

“Am I dismissed ma’am?” Harry looked at FG.

“Of course, have a wonderful night your majesty!” FG smiled as Harry was pulled away by Ben.

“So am I gonna have to bow to ye whenever we go out now or what?” Harry grinned teasingly at Ben. “Yer majesty?”

“Let’s not go all out with the titles just yet,” Ben laughed. “Anyways, what were you and FG talking about?”

“The magic that protected me from Leah and then Ursula,” Harry mumbled. “turns out I do have some magic in me but FG said I shouldn’t use it-”

“I’ll see what I can do to ease the magic ban!” Ben assured. “But I have some business to take care of first!”

“... such as??”

Ben looked out the window, FG had assured them that the hole Ursula escaped from closed up by itself after she slipped out.

“A promise is a promise,” He sighed. “Auradon will need some time to calm down after what Ursula caused but I will get your family and the other kids off the island!”

Harry froze but nodded.

During the fight with all the chaos it had completely slipped his mind of what would happen with his parents and sisters.

With Ursula gone there would no doubt be chaos on the island for a while, every villain under her fighting for her previous status and more powerful villains like Maleficent working to establish even more power…

“I understand ye but don’t take too long,” he muttered. “power dynamics are gonna change drastically on the island now with Ursula gone!”

“Got it,” Ben nodded. “I’m lucky to have you, Gil and Uma to help me through this!”

“Well who else was gonna?” Harry laughed and kissed his hand. “I don’t think yer parents and FG are the best to handle this considering how they took care of the villains twenty years ago!”

“While it was mostly the council together you have a point,” Ben sighed. “But it’s gonna be different with me as king! It’s gonna be better”

“It already is!” Harry smiled, looking out towards the island again.

One month in Auradon and so much had changed for him already, for Gil and Uma too for that matter.

He turned his head towards where his friends were.

Gil and Chad were seemingly debating over some food while Uma and Audrey were dancing and laughing with each other.

“I can’t wait until my sisters and everyone else can have this too-” he mumbled before Ben grabbed his hands.

“Come on! Are we going to let the girls have all the spotlight?”

“No way!” Harry laughed as he allowed Ben to pull him to the dance floor, yelping in surprise as the king picked him up and spun around with him.

“It’s time for the world to see a new Auradon rise!”
