Chapter 1: part 1,
Chapter Text
Bucky looked out the window of his apartment and saw his best friend (and crush) of three years approaching. Reluctantly, he raised his vibranium arm to wave, only to find out he didn’t attach it properly in his grief, and it started swinging too fast. Once he had it properly attached, he opened the door to greet Sam.
“Please, come in,” said the Hen butler. Bucky hated that thing with a passion; it sounded way too much like Jarvis. Sam gulped and pulled some of his luggage into Bucky’s space. He turned to the Winter Soldier (although he didn’t go by that anymore) and pulled him into a nice hug.
“I’ve just been so lonely since Alpine somehow got out,” Bucky said, stepping out of the hug.
“She just got brave and went on an adventure,” Sam said, trying to comfort his friend with a little humor. “That cat loved you, man. She’ll find her way home.” Bucky just stared at him for a few minutes. Finally, he moved to get Sam settled.
“Let’s finish moving you in. It’s a one-bedroom place, I never thought I would need a roommate, especially not under these circumstances. You’ll have to share with me, but if she comes back soon like you said, it shouldn’t be an issue.” Bucky moved through his humble abode, back to Sam, so he couldn’t see the hint of a smile on his face. What could he say? Sharing a bed with your crush was a huge thing!
“This’ll be the best sleepover ever, Buck,” Sam said, using the nickname he had been recently granted.
“Totally.” There was a knock on Bucky’s door, which was a rare occurrence. Sam followed him, seeing a very patriotic man on the other side.
“Can I help you?” Bucky said, face as straight as ever.
“Hi!” the patriot said. “I’m your neighbor, Steve! It’s nice to see someone moving in, this place has been empty for a while…” he trailed off, fidgeting with the badass studded belt looped around his American-esque blue jeans.
“I’ve lived here for ten years,” Bucky responded. Sam quickly took over, making sure Bucky didn’t scare the neighbor off.
“I just moved in. Bucky here works a lot, so it makes sense you may not have seen him. Thank you for the welcome,” he stuck his hand out for Steve to shake, bumping Bucky with his hip to have him do the same.
“Sorry about that, I guess I haven’t been that observant,” Steve said while shaking both their hands at the same time. “If you need anything, don’t hesitate to come over and knock!” Steve walked away, and Bucky closed the door.
“He was pretty nice, Buck,” Sam said, trying to ease the tension in the room.
“Yeah, not too bad looking either,” Bucky responded, walking to his kitchen to get a drink, leaving Sam stunned in place, feeling a pain in his heart. Bucky Barnes had never been the type to make a comment like that, especially not after having just met the person! Is Bucky even into me? Sam thought. He always felt like something we there because of how they would subtly flirt on Skype. He didn’t know if he would tell him he’s in love with him, and while pondering the situation, Bucky returned, having poured Sam his own glass.
Chapter 2: heavy
Chapter Text
The pair made their way into the living room to enjoy each other’s company. Sam sat at the couch, acting like he was too good for it, while slowly nursing his drink. Bucky turned on a movie, and on his second TV, he turned on some funny TV shows. Both of them drank all night until it was seven the next morning.
“Hey, Sam, look,” Bucky laughed, clearly having gone way past his tolerance. Such things happen when you spend time with the one for you. Sam stumbled over, but tripped and fell into Bucky’s arms! The two stared into each other’s eyes, faces itching closer and closer together. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door! Bucky got up, failing to hide his blush, and answered the door.
“Hello?” he asked once he opened the door, when suddenly, two Hydra agents grabbed him, threw him down some stairs, and ran off! They kidnapped him!
Sam tried to run after the van, and even thought about flying and following them, but he knew FUI (flying under the influence) was highly irresponsible. He did the only thing his drunken mind could think of: call the police and cry in the apartment. While sobbing his heart out, he got an anonymous message on his phone.
“If you want to see him again, make a video about 10 reasons why Loki and Iron Man are awesome and ur wrong.” Sam gasped and began thinking of his script.
Chapter 3: on the 3rd cold night
Notes:
Hydra is here for literally two seconds, and then never show up again I PROMISE HE'S NOT GOING TO BE TORTURED! Also, I know it makes no sense they'd be taking him to Wakanda, but that's the closest Marval thing to Costa Rica (coastal rica)...again watch Danny's video if you don't get it.
Chapter Text
There was a knock at the door. Sam went over to the door and gasped! It was Iron Man!
—
Meanwhile, in Wakanda…
Bucky had a bag over his head, and he was punched hard. “Let me go!” he pleaded. “I never got to tell Sam I love him!”
“Well, in that case…” said the Hydra agent, who apparently didn’t feel like doing his job that day. He shoved Bucky back into the van and started heading back to the apartment.
—
Sam made some tea for Iron Man. Iron Man looked at him sweetly as a thank you. “I’m so sorry this happened to you. The Avengers–the rest of us–will help you find him.”
“Thanks, Stark,” Sam said. “I almost kissed him before he…” Sam couldn’t bring himself to finish his sentence.
“It’ll be ok, Sam.” Tony reached for his hand. They both gave the other a very sweet look. “I’m always here for you, you know.” Tony leaned in and kissed Sam lightly on the lips. In a moment of pure desire and desperation, Sam pulled Tony closer and kissed him harder! They made out, and Tony started rubbing on Sam!
They were wiggling on the couch for a long time until Sam broke away. “I can’t do this, Tony…Bucky…” he trailed off, tears pricking his eyes.
“Come on, Sam! He was a loser?”
“Go, Tony. Go away.” Sam started retreating to the bedroom, the one he was supposed to share with the love of his life.
“Oh, come on, Sam, you don’t mean that,” Tony responded, reaching out to grab Sam’s wrist, stopping him from going further.
“GO, TONY! I SAID GO AWAY!” Tony grunted, mumbled about how he’d pay for this, and left the apartment extremely irate. Sam finally made his way into the bedroom and let all his tears fall onto his pillow.
Chapter 4: coming home
Chapter Text
The door slowly opened and Bucky limped into the apartment, collapsing onto the floor. “Sam!” he yelled out, doing his best horse impression.
“BUCKY!” Sam ran to pick him up and help him stand. Bucky gripped his arm and hugged him tight. Then, suddenly, he pressed his lips to Sam’s. They kissed for a while before breaking away and smiling. “Be my boyfriend?” Sam asked, heart beating so fast.
“Yes,” Bucky confirmed and pulled Sam back into an embrace.
“I have to tell you something, Buck,” Sam said, getting nervous.
“What is it?” Bucky asked.
“When you were gone, Stark came here and…we made out…” Sam couldn’t look Bucky in the eyes.
“What?! TONY STARK? Really?!” Bucky roared. He couldn’t believe this betrayal!
“I’m sorry…” Sam was quickly wiping the tears falling down his face. Bucky ran out of the apartment, right past Steve who was out gardening. Steve came to see what the matter was and found Sam collapsed on the floor, body shaking with sobs. Sam told him what happened and Steve quickly came up with a solution.
“You should make a video! You know, something romantic to show your story and that he is the only one for you!” Steve said, quickly pulling out his phone to capture some footage.
“You’re right,” Sam agreed. He straightened himself up and began speaking to the camera, eyes full of love. “Hey everyone. Today, I told Bucky Barnes that I love him. But before that could happen, someone came over and we kissed. I love you Bucky and that will NEVER happen again. You are my light and I would be proud to be…be your husband.” Sam ended his speech with a small smile and Steve sniffled behind the camera, tears welling in his eyes. He did the whip and Nae Nae to feel better.
“That was beautiful, Sam. Let’s get this uploaded.”
Sam hoped with everything in his soul that this would work.
Chapter 5: the story so far
Notes:
WARNING: broken bones and...boning (not that descriptive)
Chapter Text
Bucky was at a sushi restaurant trying to distract himself when someone sat next to him.
“Bucky Barnes?” the man said.
“Loki?” Bucky’s guard was immediately up. Whenever this guy was around, nothing good happened.
“Look, I’m not going to do anything,” Loki assured. “I heard you and Sam had a bit of a falling out and I came to make sure you were okay, especially after he posted this…” Loki pulled out a phone to show Bucky the video Steve helped Sam make. He hit play and Bucky felt his world fall apart.
“Today I finally told Bucky it will never happen again. Never kiss him again. I am with someone else.” Bucky couldn’t help the tears streaming down his face; he was officially a broken man.
“Let me buy you a drink,” Loki said, flagging the bartender and ordering sake (an Asian drink). They were drinking and talking and laughing and having a good time.
“You know, I may have been wrong about you, Loki.” Bucky said, looking Loki in the eyes. Loki put his arm around Bucky comfortingly. They both left the bar and drunkenly stumbled into Loki’s hotel room. Loki started kissing Bucky and things…escalated. Bucky was too blinded by lust to see the camera in the room! They were being live streamed!
Sam and Steve were watching the stream and couldn’t believe their eyes!
“How could he?” Sam asked, falling deeper into sadness. Steve tried to assure him everything was alright, but Sam went to the front door and jumped off the stoop, slipping and breaking all his bones. Steve called 011 to get an ambulance for Sam, and was wondering how Bucky could do something so heinous.
Chapter 6: believer
Chapter Text
Bucky woke up extremely hung over and threw up. When he was done, he heard his phone ring. He saw it was Steve and answered right away. Immediately, he heard Steve yelling at him, stuttering over himself with how overwhelmed he was. “I-I-I-I’m so disappointed in you! You are shit!” Now Bucky was mad. No one called him shit and got away with it.
“What are you talking about?! I saw the video, he said he found someone else?” Bucky was so confused.
“What? No he didn’t, I’ll send you the cideo right now.”
“What the hell is a cideo?” Bucky asked Steve.
“A cinematic video, duh. I only make those.” Steve hung up and sent over the video. Bucky watched his lover speak words of love right from his heart. He knew what he had to do next. He shook Loki awake in a fit of rage.
“YOU LIAR!” He screamed in his face and then stormed out of the room, making his way home to his love.
——
Sam sat in the hospital with all of his bones completely shattered wondering how he got into the position. A nurse knocked on his door to inform him he had a visitor. He assumed it was going to be Steve with some snacks, but it turned out to be Bucky. Sam flinched and immediately regretted it; his bones were seriously broken.
“What do you want, you traitor?” Sam hissed and Bucky.
“Loki lied to me. He made me think you moved on and…we slept together…” Bucky didn’t want to look at Sam, but when he felt Sam put his hand in his, he looked up to see him smiling.
“Are we even? Can we finally be together?” Sam asked, bringing even more humor into their lives.
“Do you forgive me?” Bucky asked.
“Only if you forgive me,” Sam responded. They both chuckled and kissed. Sam pulled away and pulled out a small velvet box, his shattered bones completely healed—they say true love’s kiss is the most powerful thing in the world.
“I was going to plan something extravagant, but right now feels right. James Bucky Barnes, will you marry me?” Sam gave him the biggest smile he could muster and Bucky wiped tears from his eyes.
“Yes!” he said while nodding and crying. “Let’s get you out of here, Sam,” he said, walking to find a nurse to fill out the dispatch papers.
Chapter 7: chain reaction
Chapter Text
Sam got out of the bed he shared with his new fiancé and walked to the bathroom. As he walked in, he noticed something in the sink. He pulled it out to look at it and saw two pink lines. It was…a pregnancy test? He immediately ran back into their room and confronted Bucky.
“Buck, what is this?!” he asked, Bucky sitting up in bed to see. “Are you…” Sam trailed off.
“I have an appointment tomorrow to confirm. Will you come with me?”
“Of course I will, I’ll be with you every step of the way. I’m not going anywhere.”
——
The pair were waiting in the Dr.’s office when they called Bucky’s name. They followed him into the exam room.
“Are you his husband?” the doctor asked Sam. Even though it wasn’t official yet, Sam nodded his head. The doctor looked through Bucky’s chart and delivered the news.
“Well, Mr. Barnes, you are pregnant. Mr. Wilson, you however aren’t the father…”
The lovebirds stared wide eyed at each other. They both knew what this meant...
Chapter Text
It was a hot July day and the Avengers Tower was all decked out. Bucky was getting ready, putting on his sleek black suit, when Natasha and Clint popped in.
“Hey guys!” Bucky said excitedly.
“I’m so excited for you!” Natasha said, embracing him.
“Thank you very much. Clint…will you walk me down?” Bucky asked.
“Of course, Buck. I’d be honored,” Clint answered, clapping a hand on his shoulder. When it was time, the pair started down the aisle. Bucky stopped at the end where Thor was waiting to officiate. Everyone looked back, waiting for Sam to make his appearance. Steve made his way down the aisle as the man of honor (a mix of the best man and maid of honor), Natasha following shortly after. Then, everyone went quiet as Sam emerged, being walked down by Bruce. Bucky started tearing up at the sight of his true love. When he made it all the way down, Thor started the ceremony, and a beautiful one at that.
“James Barnes, do you take Samuel Wilson to to be your husband?” Thor asked.
“I do,” Bucky replied.
“Samuel Wilson, do you take James Barnes to be your husband?”
“I do.”
“If anyone thinks these two should not be married, please say something now.” Thor said, knowing there wouldn’t be a sound…right?
“I object!” The entire crowd gasped and turned toward the voice. It came from…Tony Stark?
“Stark! What is the meaning of this?” Thor belting throughout the room.
“Ah, that’s where you’re all mistaken. You see, I’ve been meddling with this for quite some time, for I am NOT Tony Stark…” he snapped his fingers to drop the façade. “I’m Dr. Doom!” The whole room gasped! While most of the Avengers started fighting him, Hawkeye and Black Widow got Bucky and Sam to safety.
Notes:
See I TOLD YOU it would all make sense in the end of course Tony Stark wouldn't do that!
Chapter Text
Bucky and Sam made their way outside per Clint’s request, and there were stunned at what they saw. Steve and Natasha had set up a beautiful, intimate ceremony. “I can marry you guys if you’d like,” Clint offered. “I do Jewish weddings but it can work for you too.”
Sam held his hand out for Bucky. “Shall we?” The two of them walked hand in hand down the aisle and met Clint.
“Buck, do you take Sam to be your husband?”
“I do”
“Sam, do you take Buck to be your husband?”
“I do, but first…” Sam looked Bucky right in the eye. “Bucky, I love you, so much, and I want you to know that I’ll adopt the baby” Bucky started crying happy tears.
“I now pronouns #woke you man and husband” they both chuckled at Clint’s joke and fell into a kiss.
