Chapter Text
Cosmo and Sprout used to be best friends.
The bests of friends you could ever imagine.
What brought them together at first was their love for baking. Though, both being horribly bad at it, burnt the kitchen down so many times that they lost count of it.
That made Sam, Sprout's toon handler literally ban them from the kitchen, sticking a note that said "Food related toons are denied entry for not specified reasons" on the door.
They later on explained that it was for their own security - so Delilah didn't accidentally cook them into a meal.
That made the two best friends very upset. Furious, even. They spent days coming up with a plan to make the kitchen theirs again.
When they finally did, Sam could literally feel something wrong. They heard the cries of crows. They heard the signs.
Starting that night, Sprout would sneak into Sam's room, climb into their bed and sit onto their torso before asking if they're asleep. If they don't reply to him, he'd lean forward and lift their eyelids to forcefully wake them up.
Sam tried everything. They locked the door of their room, chained Sprout to his bed, threatened to lock Cosmo away if he continued - but he'd still find a way to get into their room.
After several sleep deprived nights, with dark circles under their eyes, the poor toon handler ended up giving in and letting Cosmo and Sprout bake again.
Victory! Sprout now had the way of doing whatever he wanted with them and always had that stupid grin of his glued to his face. Sam wanted to wipe it off so badly.
Sam wished they could play basketball with Sprout, but with the toon as the ball. They wished they could take a bite out of Cosmo's head like how they would eat Christmas log. All that instead of being tortured by the ideas that the pastry created along with a certain strawberry that they could devour along with the pancakes they eat in the mornings if they wished to.
But whenever they'd try to get in action, Delilah would randomly appear and remind them of their salary.
Every time Sam would try to tell their sufferings to their colleagues, they would never believe them.
The toon handler really wanted to call the non-existent police officers.
It felt like those two would never grow up, like they would torture them forever and jump into their bed at night singing "forever young".
Eventually, Sam got named the "employee of the day" by Delilah, they even got a raise for it. Their colleagues would sometimes tease them about how disheveled they looked in the picture.
Whenever somebody did, Sam would shake their head with a sigh while saying something amongst the lines of "and you don't seem to understand what kinds of sufferings I went through" before walking away.
------------------
Eventually, Cosmo and Sprout grew up to be more 'mature'. They learnt more things about how friendship works and of course, how to bake.
Even though the two would sometimes still burn batches of cookies and pancakes because of their own carelessness, they did it a lot less than before.
That's why whenever the duo would step into the kitchen, Sam would rush in to take the spot next to the fire extinguisher while scrolling on their phone.
"Sam would do the firefighters' jobs better than the firefighters themselves", Sprout often told Cosmo before being glared at by an orange-haired person.
---------------------
Time flew. All the toon handlers left after Gardenview's shutdown, Sam is no exception.
The main toons' moods were brought down for a while, the durations different for each one of them.
Sprout, usually the one to comfort others, still did. No matter how harsh reality hit him as well, he'd be by their side, whispering words of comfort as the toons cried.
Cosmo saw all of this.
He could see through all of Sprout's smiles.
Comforting others would drain all of the toon's mental health, which let him to cry into Cosmo's arms whenever they were alone. He'd apologize over and over again when he did.
"For what?" Cosmo would ask with a confused expression, his hand drawing soothing circles on Sprout's back.
"For being weak." The latter would answer in a mutter.
"If you call this being weak, I mustn't even be able to walk with how many times I cried into your arms."
Sprout cracked a smile at that.
Slowly, friendship grew into something more.
They would share a bed, just like the old times. But it now felt different.
The flutter they'd both feel in their chest at every interaction they'd share couldn't be ignored.
One day, when they were sitting on a bench together, Cosmo looked up at the "bake with Sprout" poster and felt bold.
"Wow, what a handsome fella with an even more handsome cupcake in hand," Cosmo said with a snicker, receiving a shove from Sprout.
"Excuse me, that pancake was baked with love, and I am love itself. I should be more good-looking than it! I'm wounded, Cosmo!" The strawberry toon said while exaggeratedly feigning hurt, though couldn't help the smile that crept its way onto his lips.
"Oh my, if you're the feeling itself, does that make me - Sprout you?" Cosmo blurted out without a second thought. He immediately regretted it, hoping that Sprout didn't understand what he meant.
Sprout just sat there, frozen for a second, wondering if he misunderstood what his best friend meant.
Was that a love confession?
He'll play along anyway.
"Does that make me Sprout 'Sprout you'?" Sprout asked with a tilt of his head.
"...Translator please."
The two bursted out of laughter.
Both felt their heart clench.
Was this serious or just banter?
-------------
Despite being cocky sometimes, Cosmo was still shy about the feelings he felt towards his best friend. Even thinking about confessing made him feel like screaming into his pillow.
It was just a regular day - The duo was baking in the kitchen while chatting.
They learnt to stop burning things since Sam was no longer there to clean up after them.
Cosmo cracked eggs into the bowl, Sprout preheated the oven while rambling about the random things.
"You know," the strawberry toon started, "I really don't see how you like those tea parties. Teagan mixes up sugar and salt, for god's sake! I'm pretty sure she does it to throw me off for taking more tapes than her when we snuck into Dandy's room that day!" he complained, shutting the oven with more force than necessary.
"Sprout, come on! I thought you saw good in everyone!" Cosmo teased, glancing at him from the corner of his eye. "Could be a possibility, but I'm sure it's a one-time thing!"
"You're too naive." Sprout replied while rolling his eyes, walking over to the counter to lean on it casually.
"Oh, I'll show you naive!"
Before any of them knew it, Cosmo pinned Sprout to the counter, trapping him between his arms.
The latter looked surprised, then looked at his best friend with a little smirk.
"Getting bold, aren't we?" He teased through a slightly trembling voice that betrayed his nervousness, making Cosmo realize the weight of what he did.
He quickly backed up, whispering a quick apology as he suddenly found the oven very interesting.
Sprout chuckled, taking no step closer to him. After all, making sure that Cosmo was comfortable with anything he did was very important.
After a bit of silence, the pastry seemingly made a decision despite everything. He shut his eyes before opening them again, returning the strawberry's gaze hesitantly. He was met with Sprout's usual smile.
That smile of his was so reassuring that he suddenly felt the need to spill everything.
"I've been meaning to tell you this a long time ago, but I didn't gather up the courage to..." Cosmo started, an hesitant edge to his voice as he trailed off.
"Sprout, I like you!" He ended up blurting out, deciding that it's better to get over with it faster.
Sprout couldn't get anything out of his throat before a bit. Despite already suspecting it and wishing his feelings to be returned, that still shocked him.
Happiness hit him like a wave.
He felt like he was floating.
Before he knew it, he took a step ahead and pulled Cosmo in a hug, wrapping his arms around him tightly. "You can't even imagine the happiness I feel right now."
Those words meant the world to the pastry. He hugged back just as tightly.
-----------------
Neither weren't the ones to rush things, thinking that it would make the other one uncomfortable in some way.
But there they were, on the bed that day after a shower.
Sprout had undressed himself under Cosmo's pleading gaze.
"Receive or give?" He asked, a shameless smile tugged at his lips as Cosmo's cheeks flushed.
"Giving sounds more manly, so I'll do it." He replied, trying to make a joke out of the reply but failing miserably as he felt his eyes look down.
Sprout laughed at his misery, noticing where the pastry's gaze lingered. "Eyes up here, sneaky!" Cosmo got even more embarrassed if it were even possible.
It got even worse when the strawberry laid back on the bed, spreading his legs invitingly as if saying "now now, c'mere!"
Cosmo felt oddly drawn to the sight, it was like his body already knew what to do as soon as he saw Sprout.
"Not my fault your handsomeness could almost compete with my cookies'."
"Oh shush, you! Go do this to your cookies then!"
Cosmo couldn't help but smile before moving closer as he studied which part to touch first. He started off slow, leaning in to tentatively press kisses down Sprout's neck that trailed down to his collarbone, then to his shoulders. His hands hesitantly explored his body as if worshipping every part of him.
Sprout let him with a smile, passing a gentle hand through his hair as he did. "Just like that, you're doing a good job..." He shut his eyes as he felt Cosmo's hands toy with his nipples, an electric-like sensation building within him.
Cosmo felt his heart flutter at the praise, feeling a bit more confident than before.
"Eager, aren't we?" the strawberry teased, trying to maintain some semblance of control.
Cosmo doesn't answer. His cheeks heat up as he rubbed the nubs, feeling them harden under his touch. It was a satisfying sight.
The pastry then pulled back abruptly as he reached out to grab the untouched lube bottle that lay on the nightstand. His hands shook slightly as he poured a generous amount of silky liquid on them.
Seeing his hesitation, Sprout used his hands to part his own thighs in an inviting gesture, giving a small nod to Cosmo to allow him to continue.
"I'm sure you'll do just awesome, Cosmo!" He said, hoping to be encouraging while all his partner could see was how captivating he was. They looked deep into each other's eyes before exchanging a smile.
The pastry moved closer, tentatively pressing a finger of his to Sprout's entrance.
"Here comes the monster…" Cosmo warns before carefully pushing the finger in the tight heat.
Sprout squeezed his eyes shut, biting down on his lower lip as the finger scratched his inner walls.
Studying his partner's facial expressions, the pastry took that as a sign to go further. The digit went deeper and deeper until it was fully swallowed.
"Continue… Please do…" Sprout let out a shaky exhale, "You're doing so good---"
Cosmo felt a wave of stimulus hit him because of how unreal this seemed. 'Too good to be real', he thought before adding a second finger, completely forgetting to warn his partner about it.
The strawberry inhaled sharply, instinctly grasping at the sheets beneath him.
The pastry scissored his fingers carefully, gently spreading him wider.
After some time, Cosmo's movements grew slightly bolder at Sprout's reactions, the digits inside him taking a thrusting motion. It was going pretty slow, but the wet sounds made the pastry tense up. His partner, too immersed in the feelings, couldn't care less about the sounds.
"Cosmo…" He whispered as the latter looked up at him. "Please- Please… You can go faster, it's not going to hurt me, I swear!"
Cosmo buried his face in his free hand, feeling utterly turned on. He moved his fingers without a second thought, setting a faster pace.
Moans that slipped out of Sprout's lips blessed his ears, making him want to hear more.
More.
Sprout threw an arm over his face, his body trembling ever so slightly as pleasure overwhelmed him.
Just then, he let out a shuddering sound and tried to close his legs as he came. Cosmo held them open as much as he could with his free hand.
Ropes of cum tainted his stomach as he came untouched, making his partner gasp in surprise.
Panting heavily, Sprout smiled. Cosmo, coming to his senses, looked away from him while blushing heavily.
"What's up, Cosmo? Flustered now?"
"Yeah. So what?"
"Your voice is shaking~"
"Sprout! Stop that sing-song tone of yours!"
