Chapter 1: don't feed street cats

Chapter Text

He just walked out of the local super market, which was near the studio they had band practice in a few moments ago. He was in desperate need of water so it was convenient having a super market nearby. However, after walking out of the market he almost spilled all the water after a cat crossed his way, over which he nearly tripped. Luckily not everything got spilled, but now his shirt was wet. The cat just sat there beside him, watching him.

“Great.”

He sighed and looked down at the cat, which stared back at him and meowed once.

God damn was it able to open up its mouth wide. But looking at how chubby the little creature was he probably shouldn’t be surprised. And no, it definitely wasn’t only fluff that made the cat look so chubby. The cat came closer and rubbed itself against mick’s leg. He couldn’t be angry at it. especially because it’s just a cat. It looked too cute and innocent and he absolutely loved cats. It’s just water anyway and he still has some left to drink.

He kneed down to pet the cat, which was still walking circles around his legs. It rubbed its little head, which had pretty big ears against his hand. It was so fluffy and cuddly, he would’ve probably taken it home already, but it probably has an owner because it seemed to get fed really well. He petted the cat for a few more minutes, but he also wanted to get home and take a shower. He was still very sweaty from band practice and was in desperate need for one.

He stood up and made his way home. It would probably not be the last time seeing the cat, since it was near the studio where he encountered it. After walking a few meters, he looked back once to see if the cat was still at the spot where he petted it. it wasn’t, but instead it was following him. It meowed again. He wanted to kneel down again, but it would probably keep on following him if he would pet it again. So he decided to just keep walking and tried ignoring the cat as best as he could.

After a while of walking, he decided to look back again, since he almost arrived at his home. The cat wasn’t there. good. He finally arrived home and was about to unlock the door, but from a distance not far away he heard a meow. He looked towards the direction of the sound, and it was the cat again which crawled out of a bush. It approached him. He quickly proceeded to unlock the door before the cat came too close to follow him inside, but before he himself could even take a step inside the cat ran past him. Great.

He just stood there for a moment, dumbfounded, watching as the cat kept on walking further into his home. He was questioning if the cat really had an owner or if it was looking for shelter. Either way he couldn’t just keep the cat inside his home. He couldn’t, but he wants to. Maybe just one night? It’s just one night, right? He sighed and also went inside.

“just one night…”

He thought to himself.

He took off his shoes while the cat walked through the living room, sniffing on the furniture. It seemed to be very curious. Mick went through the living room to the kitchen, to see if he could provide the black and orange feline with some food overnight. He definitely didn’t have cat food, that’s for sure, but there’s gotta be something save to eat for a cat in his fridge. He opened the fridge and as soon as he did the cat approached him, or rather the fridge.

“Argh, no!”

He complained as the cat tried to jump into his fridge.

He held the cat while looking for some food so it wouldn’t try to jump into his fridge again. He found some cheese and some chopped up chicken. If he cooked the chicken, it would be safe to eat for the cat and he could also put a little bit of cheese on it. he took the food of his choice, closed the door of his fridge and let go of the cat. He started to prepare the food while the cat walked in circles around him and meowed every now and then. It seemed to be very impatient and hungry. But he couldn’t deny that he liked it when the cat rubbed itself against his legs.

After he was done preparing the food he poured it in a bowl and put it on the floor for the cat to eat. the cat practically started eating immediately. While he let the cat eat, he went into the bathroom to take a needed shower. He took his time to enjoy the warm water flowing down his body and to properly wash his hair. Usually he takes quick showers and doesn’t wash his hair the way it’s required for such long hair, so this time he’s doing it properly. It took him about half an hour to finish.

After he was done, he wrapped a towel around his waist and went to check up on the cat. When he arrived at the spot where the bowl was, the only thing he could see was an empty bowl without a cat nearby. He looked around. He found the cat as it was climbing on top of his kitchen counter. He sighed and picked up the cat again to prevent it from stealing food and messing up his already messy kitchen counter. The cat just meowed in response.

“you’re pretty greedy huh?”

He didn’t expect an answer from the cat because, well, it’s a cat. While having the cat in his arms he thought that he could check if the cat maybe had a collar or if it was chipped or something. He looked around it’s neck and went with his hand over its fur and skin to see if it was chipped. Nothing. Not a collar or a chip. Maybe it didn’t have an owner. But he couldn’t just keep a random cat that followed him home. He barely has time to take care of a pet. It’s just for this night…

He put the cat down and let it explore his home, while he locked his fridge and other cabinets that had something edible in them with cable ties. He didn’t want the cat to raid his fridge over night while he was sleeping. He was already pretty short on food. He should probably go grocery shopping tomorrow after band practice. After locking all the cabinets, he headed towards his bedroom to put on some underwear and go to sleep. The first thing he saw was the cat that made itself comfortable on the end of his bed.
F
He sighed, but it’s just gonna be one night. He put off the towel around his waist, threw it on the floor and put on boxershorts. He turned off the lights and laid down in his bed in a way that wouldn’t wake the smaller being on his bed up. Despite being way smaller than him, it took up plenty of space. He had to curl himself up a little so he won’t accidentally kick the cat. But well, the cat was not only above the average weight but also above the average height. It looked like a mainecoon so maybe it’s because of its breed. But he didn’t want to think about it now. Right now, he just wanted sleep. He could check tomorrow.
