“Okay chat, y'all have been spamming me about this upcoming game that's supposed to be released in like a month or so. I think it was called Reawaker or something similar?”

jinniesferret: yess I watched the trailer and it looks so good!!
paintingwithlara: ohh yes you must play it as soon as it gets released
hyune_s: please make it a seriessss

Hyunjin watched his stream chat get flooded by pleas for him to play this game. It has been around a week since people started spamming “have you watched Reawaker trailer?” on all his social media accounts, of course it piqued his interest.

“Alright guys, since I love you all so much I thought I'd watch it live with you. What's better than a live reaction, right? But don't get disappointed if I end up being uninterested.” He chuckled.

He opened his steam account and searched for the title. After readjusting the volume, he played the trailer of what seemed to be an RPG and narrative-driven game.

It started with chaos – a village in flames, lifeless corpses scattered around the blood-soaked ground. The few people that were alive were screaming their lungs out, terror visible in their voice, yet a single one was just standing – back facing the camera, quiet, unmoving, simply watching.

igottheimpostor: Hyunjin-ah, did you know Felix is the voice actor of the main character?

Although he was pretty immersed in the trailer, he never forgot to take a peak at his comments from time to time, he loved interacting with his viewers after all. But the comment that caught his eye made him frown, as he was not familiar with the name.

“Felix? Who is that?” He tilted his head as his eyes drifted back to the trailer.

i_am_tree: wdym you don't know Lix?
igottheimpostor: he's a famous voice actor! tho he usually does voice acting for audiobooks, this is his second time voice acting for a game, he was so excited since it's a very awaited game, probably also his biggest project until now, it was really cute to watch
i_am_tree: and a model! he's also a model!! Thought Jeongin told you about him, they worked together

“I don’t know everyone who worked with Innie guys,” he laughed.

cookiesncream: he’s such an ethereal model! Hyune you should live react to his photoshoots

Just as he was about to reply, a deep voice resonated in his headphones that made him flinch. His head snapped back to the monitor on which the trailer was playing, and apparently the main character – who, of course, turned out to be the quiet, unmoving man – finally made his appearance, turning his face to the camera.

“I will never be one of you,”  he spoke with the deepest and hottest voice Hyunjin has ever heard.

A blade materialized out of thin air in his hand, a blue flame sur r ounding it, and he lunged forward.

The next scene found the MC fighting what seemed to be shadows – or demons?

hyune_s: jsdcjsjs I was waiting for this reaction
i_am_tree: there you go, that was Lix
americanooo: lmao not even Hyunjin can escape the Felix effect~

He didn't even know if he was paying attention to the trailer anymore, as he was now fully focused on the character's voice. Just who even sounds like that?!

“Who even… That's a hella hot voice!”

hf_art: we lost another soldier guys, just wait until he sees his visuals

His mind was already spiralling. He never thought it was possible to get turned on just by hearing a voice. What the hell is wrong with him?

leylaz: alr, this felix guy aside, what do you think about the trailer? will you consider playing the game?
staytgt: @leylaz oh trust me, he'll definitely play it

“The trailer, right…” he cleared his throat.

With one final look at the monitor, the trailer ended with the quote “Will you face your demons, or will you become one?” and the title together with the release date fading in the background.
REAWAKER. Release date: 20th May. Wishlist now.

And he did. He moved his mouse and clicked on 'wishlist’. Focusing back on the chat screen, he continued his reply.

“To be honest, it actually looks good. Great graphics, promising story and good voice acting. I kind of understand the hype now. I wonder how long the game will be. What do you guys think? I say around 10 hours. We could stream it then.”

staytgt: knew it
hf_art: i bet you my ateez album collection that he will search him up the moment he ends the stream
quokkas_are.cute: yayy i'm so glad you're gonna stream it! i can't wait

“Yah, hf_art you make me sound like a stalker,” he laughed.

He wasn't a stalker, but he sure was a curious cat, so yes, his fan's Ateez collection is safe, because he will definitely search this man up after ending the stream. Not necessary because of his voice, but how come so many of his viewers knew him and he didn't? He thought he had reached the chronically online stage by now, but it looks like he might have been wrong.

Okay, it might be because of his voice too.

“Alright guys! Yes, I like the trailer, yes, I'll play it with you on stream and yes, Felix's voice is attractive, y'all were right. Moving on, what should we play tonight? I'll make a poll.”

americanooo: wbk

After a few hours of chatting and raging – the chat chose Valorant –, it was time to end the live.

“Okay guys, thank you so much for your support and for watching me lose my mind on Valo once again. Next time I'll choose the game myself since you all conspired to make me suffer,” he laughed while exiting the game.

paintingwithlara: losing your mind over Valo or over a specific man that so happens to have the deepest voice?
zeya_ort: chat am I allowed to ship?
cookiesncream: half of us already are so dw

Hyunjin read some of the comments that he managed to catch and chuckled, rolling his eyes.

“Sure guys, y'all do your thing. Once again, thank you so much for being here with me, have a good night and we'll see each other tomorrow at 8pm, as always. Bye bye my dumplings!” he winked and blew a flying kiss toward the camera, then ended his stream.

However, this time, he didn't leave his desk to go shower and sleep as he usually does after ending his night stream. Instead, he found himself opening a google page and typing 'Felix' in the search bar. He was simply curious. He had to see what that deep voiced man looked like.

The first one that appeared was a long haired blond man with freckles.

“Cute” Hyunjin mumbled, while scrolling in hopes to find the desired voice actor.

When he couldn't, he ended up searching for the cast of Reawaker. He found out his full name was Lee Felix, so he searched again.

The same adorable blond man with the sweetest smile appeared.

“Huh? Ain't no way…” he muttered as he searched again.

'Lee Felix Reawaker Voice Actor'

Same face showed up. Now Hyunjin was beyond confused. There was simply no way. So he ended up clicking on him to read some information.

And it turned out that yes, ’that’  Lee Felix, that adorable looking human, was indeed the deep voice guy. Hyunjin was stunned. Not only did his voice not match his face at all, but the man was insanely gorgeous.

Spoiler: he ended up spending around an hour that night to read more about this man and look at – or rather admire – some of his photoshoots. He truly wouldn't exaggerate if he were to say that this was undeniably the most beautiful man he had ever laid eyes on.

And on that night, Hyunjin went to sleep with a new goal in his mind – he has to get to know this man, personally.

Chapter Text

The next morning found Hyunjin in the same position. It has been 2 hours since he woke up, and 1 hour in which all he did was scroll through Felix's instagram page. Damn it, he felt like a creep. But after all, Felix was a public person, a famous one at that, so it should be a normal thing for him, right?

In the past hour full of photos, reels and highlights, he came to the conclusion that Felix was just as sweet of a person as he looked. People apparently called him 'sunshine’ in the comments, and he completely understood the allusion. He learned that aside from his main jobs as a model and voice actor, he was an incredible dancer and singer. He found a few videos of him singing and was shocked to hear how fast he can change his tone. How could such a deep voice also sound so high and pitchy? How can he just change his vocal tones so quickly and easily? He didn't stop to amaze him.

Later on, he switched from his instagram to his tiktok account. Felix seemed to love doing all kinds of silly – and cute – challenges, even if he was half a year late to most of them. However, the tiktok that caught Hyunjin’s attention was one of the most recent ones, that seemed to be a memory, taken the ”I promise to get healthy so I can come and see you sweethearts soon! I miss every single one of you<3” in the description. After searching for some more information regarding that tiktok – aka reading some of the comments – he got to learn that not only was Felix a volunteer, but also an ambassador for UNICEF, having donated 100 million won to help the children in need from Laos. He truly was an angel – inside and out.

Just as he was about to search his twitter, he heard his front door open, followed by steps and the echo of Jeongin’s voice reverberating through the hall of his apartment.

”Hyung, are you awake? You better not be sleeping at this hour, I brought warm food.”

Hyunjin hurried to put a shirt on and rushed to the living room with a clear goal in mind.

”Did someone say food?” he tickled Jeongin’s side and ruffled his hair, stealing the bag he was carrying and walking toward the table to unpack the delicacies that were smelling divine – or maybe he was just hungry, as he was too busy scrolling through Felix’s social media accounts and did not have breakfast yet.

”Hey! Those are mine too! We’re sharing, don’t steal everything,” Jeongin mumbled as he took his seat at the table, sitting right across from Hyunjin, as the older finished unpacking everything.

”My gosh, you bought brownies! You sure know the way to my heart, Innie,” Hyunjin said as he did a little happy dance.

He was about to snatch one when Jeongin slapped his hand and stole the container.

“Food first, dessert later.”

They ate in peace, making some small talk here and there. Hyunjin talked about what he was planning on streaming tonight, while Jeongin talked about a new photoshoot that he was really excited to do. Apparently it was a collaboration with another model that he, himself, was a fan of.

“I’m telling you, hyung! This man is the sweetest soul I have ever met.”

Hyunjin wiggled his eyebrows as he cleaned the table and threw the now empty containers of food in the trash.

“Sounds like my Innie got a crush,” he sing-songed

“Nah, just a good friend. I wouldn't be his type either way. He may be the softest and cutest human being outside, but he’s got… different taste in men.”

“Oh?” Hyunjin tilted his head in curiosity.

Unfortunately for him though, Jeongin just waved his hand and nodded toward the brownies.

“It doesn’t matter. Weren’t you excited for the brownies? Here, eat and stop asking stupid questions," he said as he took a brownie in his hand, wiggling it toward Hyunjin in a teasing manner.

“Innie keeping all the fun away from me as usual,” he muttered and rolled his eyes as he took a munch from a brownie, his eyes immediately widening.

“Dear Lord these are…”

“Delicious, right?” Jeongin asked, smirking at his reaction.

“Heavenly!” he shouted, taking another bite and making his usual little happy dance that he always does when there’s him and food involved in the same sentence. “Where’d you get these from? I think this might become my to-go bakery.”

“I didn’t buy them. I received them at work. Someone baked some for all of us.”

“Oh that’s sweet. But at least ask for the recipe next time, pretty please,” he said as he batted his eyelashes at Jeongin and munching on his 2nd brownie.

“But you don’t even bake?” Jeongin squinted his eyes at him.

“Irrelevant details,” he rolled his eyes as he finished his 3rd brownie, which just so happened to be the last one. Depressing.

“I actually find them a bit too sweet for my taste, but I can agree that they’re delicious.”

“Okay Mr. Food Critic,” he rolled his eyes and took a sip of water, but right in that moment he got reminded of his main goal for today — find more information about a specific blond.

He cleared his throat and intertwined his hands on the table, looking at Jeongin with a suspiciously big smile, to which the latter just rolled his eyes.

“What do you want?” he lazily asked, already used to his hyung’s face when he’s about to ask for a favor.

“Speaking of overly sweet things… A birdie might have told me that you worked with a specific Lee Felix for a photoshoot?”

Jeongin was surprised, to say the least, but he didn’t let the emotion show on his face. Instead, he furrowed his eyebrows and leaned back in the chair, a small smirk playing at the corner of his mouth.

“Really? What about it?”

“My dumplings have been begging me to play an upcoming game so I watched the trailer during yesterday’s stream. I might or might not have been slightly surprised – and not turned on, not at all – of a specific character’s voice. To top it off, everyone in the chat seemed to know who this voice actor – and apparently model too – was, so I was surprised to have never heard of him. Long story short, I’m a bit intrigued by him and someone mentioned that you two worked together?”

Jeongin felt his smirk grow bigger, yet he only shrugged and shook his head.

“Mmmm nope. That name doesn’t ring a bell, sorry hyung.”

Jeongin barely managed to hold in the laugh that was creeping up his throat when he saw how Hyunjin’s shoulders fell, a defeated sigh leaving his mouth. He decided to tease his hyung a bit more though. It was kind of a funny sight to witness.

“What is so interesting about this guy though? People rarely catch your attention,” Jeongin asked, unaware of what he just unleashed with that question. The last thing he saw was Hyunjin’s eyes sparkling and his mouth turning into a huge grin, and the simp speech started.

It was safe to say that he got to learn some new things about Felix himself, and he was not only his coworker, but his friend as well. They rarely managed to meet due to both of their hectic schedules, and he couldn’t be up to date with everyone’s social media either, so maybe it wouldn’t have been that surprising that Hyunjin knew more information about his most recent campaigns than him… if he wouldn’t have learned about this man yesterday.

“And why does he look so damn adorable, Innie?! You have to hear his voice! I swear it makes no sense for him to sound like that while looking so angelical! But that only makes him hotter actually. And his soul? He’s an angel, Innie! An angel! He is constantly donating to help children in need and…”

And that is how they spent the next 20 minutes. Until it was time for Jeongin to leave because he was supposed to meet with Seungmin to talk about a future photoshoot – definitely not a date. Yet Hyunjin wouldn’t stop whining.

“Aghhh Innieeeee, but how will I get in touch with him now? You were my only hope, baby!” Hyunjin said as he hugged his waist and dramatically dropped his head on his shoulder.

“That sounds like a you problem,” Jeongin muttered as he wiggled out of Hyunjin’s embrace, making a disgusted face at the nickname the older used.

“Rude,” Hyunjin muttered, a small pout adorning his lips.

They said their goodbyes and Hyunjin thanked Jeongin one more time for the food, while trying to show his gratitude with a hug that was rejected — as most of his affectionate gestures were.

“Take care of yourself, hyung. Get out, take a stroll, breathe some air. I get that streaming means a lot to you, but don’t lock yourself in the apartment, please,” Jeongin said as he patted his head, worry evident in his eyes.

”Don’t worry about me, Innie. I’m doing great and I’m healthy as a horse! There’s nothing to worry about. Plus, I’ve got an important task at hand, so you better trust that I’ll be in my best form.”

“Yeah, right. Thanks Felix or whatever his name was.”

“You know it,” Hyunjin winked and closed the door after Jeongin, locking it.

He made his way to the bedroom and plopped down on his bed, phone already in hand and fingers immediately hovering above the twitter app icon. But as soon as he opened it and went to search for Felix’s account, he got a message.

Innie🍞: By the way, you should thank Felix for the brownies:)

He stared at it, gears slowly turning in his head trying to make sense of the message, when it finally hit him. Jeongin played him this whole morning. He did know who Felix was. And he also witnessed Hyunjin simping over him. His eyes widened and his breath got stuck in his throat — out of shock, but also excitement.

“You little bastard,” he muttered under his breath, a huge grin making its way on his face.

Chapter Text

“Jeongin, move a little to the left,” Seungmin instructed as he adjusted his camera.

“Felix, tilt your head a bit to the right, chin up!” another snap.

They were almost done with the photoshoot. It was supposed to go smoothly thanks to both Felix’s and Jeongin’s professionalism, but the odds were that Seungmin was their assigned photographer for this photoshoot and Jeongin was losing focus — be it spacing out by admiring the beauty in front of him and missing Seungmin’s instructions to the point that Felix had to nudge him, or being too self conscious when Seungmin’s attention was on him that he might or might not have tripped a few times. He could only imagine how much Felix will mock him for his crush.

After around half an hour of Seungmin getting slightly annoyed by how many times he had to repeat himself for Jeongin to actually listen to him — if only he knew the reason though — they were finally done for the day.

“You’re the biggest simp I’ve ever seen,” Felix snickered as they were packing their things.

You’ve got yet to meet Hwang Hyunjin then, Jeongin thought, but he only side eyed his friend. However, an idea popped in his mind, a small smirk already curling on his lips.

“Yah Lixie! Do you have anything else scheduled for today?”

“Hmm aside from binge watching TVD and munching chips all day, nope, I got nothing else to do.”

“That’s great news! Would you like to join me and my friends on a café gossip date?”

Felix seemed surprised by the idea, but not bothered by it. Of course this wouldn’t be the first time to hang out with Jeongin, but this time Jeongin had already made plans God knows since when, and decided to ask him to join at the very last minute. Now don’t get him wrong, he didn’t mind the idea at all, he loved socializing after all, but he didn’t want to impose.

“I don’t know Jeongin… Your friends don’t know me and you all probably planned this hang out for a while now… I don’t want to impose on you guys,” Felix hesitantly said.

Jeongin’s smirk immediately turned into a soft smile after hearing Felix’s words. He was indeed an angel, not that he didn’t know this already, but he loved such moments in which he was simply reminded of Felix’s sweet nature. Oh, how hard will Hyunjin fall for this man once he actually gets to know him. He couldn’t wait for that moment.

“Trust me, they will love you! Besides, Jisungie with Minho hyung will be there!”

At the love doves’ mention, Felix’s eyes immediately lit up.

“Jisungie, my baby! Agh I miss him so much! My schedule has been so hectic lately that I barely got time to hang out with a few friends. Are you sure the others wouldn’t mind though?”

“I am 100% convinced they wouldn’t, just trust me!”

“Alright then.Thank you for inviting me, Jeonginnie!” Felix said, flashing his usual sunshine smile.

After sending a quick message to the group chat to inform his friends that he will be bringing another friend along, they slung their bags over their shoulders and exited the building, strolling over to Felix’s car. Despite Jeongin’s pleas to be the driver, Felix was still the one who got in the driver’s seat, so the only thing that Jeongin could do at the moment was to pray that the seatbelt was enough of a protection for Felix’s driving.

After about 15 minutes of Jeongin filling Felix’s head with pleas of “slow down hyung!” – even using the hyung he never used with Felix – while the latter was simply vibing to the music blasting in his car, they finally arrived at their destination with a total of zero people ran over – though the same thing cannot be said about red lights – so they will take that as a win. Jeongin led the way as the gentleman he is – definitely not because he bolted out of the car the moment Felix parked – with slightly shaky legs due to his life being in danger just a few minutes ago.

They stepped into a cozy little cafe decorated in warm colors, with vines decorating the walls and fairy lights hanging from the ceiling – Felix easily completed the fairy atmosphere. It didn’t take long for Jeongin to spot his friends, as the moment they stepped foot inside they were welcomed with Hyunjin’s loud screeching and clapping. He could barely hold in his smirk as he approached their table.

Jisung was the first one to notice them and he immediately jumped out of his seat when he did.

“Lixie, baby! I missed you so much, come here!” he said as he pulled Felix in a tight hug, kissing his hair in the process.

“Missed you too Hannie,” Felix said as he returned the hug and basked in the affection he was receiving from his best friend. It may not seem like it, but Jisung was one of his dearest and closest friends, although they rarely got to see each other due to both of their schedules. That didn’t mean they weren’t keeping in touch, there was no week that passed without their usual video call night.

“Jeongin, bless you! I don’t know how you managed to convince him to actually do something else besides work stuff, but I’ll forever be thankful to you. I’ve been struggling to convince him to take a break for the past month!” Jisung complained, puffing his quokka cheeks that Felix immediately pinched.

“Hey, you know I’m not doing it on purpose! It was just a busy month!”

“Month?”Jisung glared at him.

“... year.”

“Right, that’s what I thought. On the brighter side, I finally get to introduce you to my mates! This is Changbin, but don’t be fooled by his intimidating physique, he’s actually the sweetest little guy. And that’s Chan, a fellow australian mate! He’s the one producing all our beats, you could call him the brain behind 3racha,” Jisung introduced each of them with a fond smile on his face.

After introducing himself and exchanging some “nice to meet you”s with the other 3racha’s members and hugging Minho – whom he already knew, as he was Jisung’s husband – his eyes shifted to the left side of the table, where a quiet man stood, failing in pretending to look out the window as Felix could see his eyes darting back to him every now and then.

“Hi, I’m Felix!” he introduced himself, wearing his usual polite smile and extending his hand toward the man who now finally turned his head, surprised by the sudden attention on him. And oh, what a man. He cannot lie, he was stunned by the beauty in front of him and he didn’t even care if he let it show on his face. With shoulder-length black hair, brown almond-shaped eyes and such plump, luscious lips, he was easily one of the most gorgeous – if not the most – people he has ever seen.

He caught a glimpse of Jeongin nudging the said man from the corner of his eyes, as his hand was still in the air, left hanging. That seemed to do the trick as the piece of art in front of him shook his head and finally took a hold of his hand, shaking it and hesitantly letting go of it.

“Hyunjin, nice to meet you, Lixie!” but just after the words had already left his mouth, his brain registered what he said, ears immediately reddening. “Lix- Felix! I meant Felix, sorry. Nice to meet you, Felix,” he rambled.

Cute

“Don’t worry, Lixie is actually my most used nickname, so there’s nothing to apologize for. Nice to meet you… Jinnie,” he winked, proud of the nickname he managed to come up with on the spot and the reaction it stirred.

“Great, now that you all got to introduce each other, how about we actually take a seat and order something?” Jeongin interrupted, as he almost pushed Changbin on Chan’s lap so he could slot himself on the same couch as them. Changbin was about to protest when Chan signaled him to shut up and gave a subtle nod in Hyunjin’s direction, which seemed to convey the message, taking the smirk that formed on Changbin’s face.

After Felix took his seat beside Hyunjin – as Jeongin made sure that would be the only available option – they finally decided on what they will order – aka coffee for each, except for Felix, who chose a strawberry milkshake, his to-go drink when bubble tea was not an option on the menu. The only ones who bought a dessert as well were Jisung, who ordered his usual cheesecake, and Hyunjin, who ordered a brownie.

They all fell into a conversation easily and everyone got accustomated to Felix’s presence really quickly – much to Jeongin’s happiness. They were treating him as if he was already part of the group, which made him really happy. He found out that Chan was also from Sydney, and even had some friends in common, which surprised them both, because Sydney is not a small city after all. Minho talked about a new interview he has to do with a celebrity that he cannot stand and how Jisung made him practice a smiley face that does not look like he wants to throw hands at said person. Felix made fun of Jeongin’s crush on Seungmin and his behaviour from today’s photoshoot, to which Hyunjin joined the conversation just to request more information about the man – and of course not forgetting to complain about Jeongin being too secretive with him.

Jeongin would have usually defend himself in such situation, but after seeing his two favorite hyungs – not that he would ever admit out loud that Hyunjin is one of those, that man’s ego is already big enough even without knowing this piece of information – excitedly talking with each other about this topic, he figured this sacrifice was worth it.

Although he seemed quite shy at first, Felix was happy to see Hyunjin warming up to him. They were still making small talk when their orders finally arrived.

“Is that americano?” Felix asked, eyeing Hyunjin’s drink.

“Yes! Do you want a sip?” Hyunjin asked, tilting his head and sliding his coffee toward Felix.

“Oh no! I can’t really stand coffee, unless it has like 10 spoons of sugar per 300ml. It just surprised me that you would drink that.”

“Why? Do I look like a matcha freak or something?” Hyunjin laughed, taking a few sips of his coffee and doing his usual little happy dance, humming as the taste filled his mouth.

“Not necessary? I just didn’t think such a sweet looking guy would drink something so bitter, with no sugar in it either!”

“Hmm if I look at you long enough while I drink this, I might start to feel the sugary taste.”

Felix’s eyes widened at that statement, but a small smirk made its way on his mouth.

“Should I pose?”

After laughing it off and complimenting his natural looks over any make up or filters others use on him, Hyunjin took a spoon and slid the small plate with his brownie between them.

“Want to share?”

They missed the looks their friends were giving them and how suspiciously they all had their phones out, typing all together.

“How romantic. I’ll unfortunately have to decline your offer, as I already have more than the recommended amount of sugar in my body thanks to this milkshake.”

Hyunjin shrugged and took a bite out of it, his face immediately scrunching in what seemed to be disgust.

“Yeah, you actually did a great choice by not tasting this. What even is this? Why is it bitter? Aren’t brownies supposed to be sweet?”

“Maybe they used dark chocolate?”

“Yours are much better,” Hyunjin mumbled before being able to stop himself.

“Excuse me?” Felix asked, hand with a tissue frozen mid-air.

Jeongin snorted as Hyunjin gave him a short glare, mentally cursing him – and himself.

“Right! I forgot to thank you for those! I’m pretty sure you gave Jeongin some brownies a few days ago? He brought those when he came to bring me breakfast. That was the most delicious dessert I’ve ever eaten!”

“I can confirm. His happy dance was more energetic when he tasted those sugary diabetes,” Jeongin muttered from across the table.

“Aw, I’m glad you liked them! I keep changing things in the recipe trying to perfect it, so it probably tastes slightly different each time I bake them.”

“So you mean to tell me that you can make them even better? How is that even possible?”

“Ah you’re flattering me. It’s just brownies, they’re really easy to bake, it’s not like I’m a chef. I actually suck at cooking.”

“Then would you be so kind as to send me the recipe?”

“And where would I send it to you?” he smirked.

Hyunjin’s eyes widened, realizing what he just subtly implied, but he sure as hell won’t back down now. So he just put his flirtatious smile on and tilted his head.

“So glad you asked! Would you do me the favor of giving me your number?”

“For the brownie recipe?”

"That would be one of the reasons, yeah.”

“So not the main reason?” Felix smirked, already reaching for his phone.

“That… can be further discussed… in your dms,” Hyunjin winked, trying his luck again.

And maybe pretty-privilege is real, because why did Hyunjin get home that evening with Felix’s contact number newly added in his phone?

Notes:

As promised, I managed to make them meet🥰 I hope I didn’t disappoint with their first interaction, I’m kinda overthinking it so I’m in dire need of feedback<3

See you next week (or possibly a few days later than that, as I’m working on a oneshot atm) lovelies🫶🏻

Chapter 4: Flirty Sunshine

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

It has been a week since Hyunjin had met Felix – and got his number. It was surprisingly easier to fall into a conversation over text. After Felix sent him his secret – as he called it – brownie recipe, it only made sense that Hyunjin tried flirting, telling him he must be special for Felix to share it with him, only to receive the “you’re never going to bake it anyway so why wouldn’t I share it lmao” as an answer. But that didn’t make him back down, maybe Felix was just teasing him, especially since he flirted back during their cafe gathering – or did he? Either way, Hyunjin had a clear goal in mind: get to know the brownie boy on a personal level. He was portrayed as a ray of sunshine by everyone online, so he needed to make sure he is the same sunshine in real life. Of course he might have been simping because of his looks, but if he really acts like that on a daily basis, all kind hearted and sweet soul, Hyunjin’s helpless romantic self will be doomed.

… But he is willing to risk it.

After his (failed) attempt to flirt, they just continued the conversation as if nothing happened. And they clicked faster than Hyunjin had thought. Felix was truly such an easy person to talk to, a social butterfly indeed, so they managed to get to know each other a bit better this past week.

Hyunjin learned that although brownies were his favorite dessert to bake, Felix loved baking in general and adored trying new recipes – to which Hyunjin couldn’t help but shoot his shot once again, asking for a baking date with “we could bake something together sometime. That’s if you’re willing to teach me. My kitchen isn’t really being used anyway.” Luckily for him, Felix replied with “sure, pretty boy. As long as you let me film a vlog, cause I’m sure you’ll make a total fool of yourself.

And you can call Hyunjin stupid, but he’d rather call himself brave for not minding embarrassing himself this much when he replied with “I’d be a cute fool tho.” Because you know what they say, no risk no gain. And he was actually more than happy with the answer he gained: “Yeah, the cutest.

He also found out – well, more like guessed right – that Felix’s favorite color is blue. Any shade of blue. He’ll make sure to use this information for future purposes.

Meanwhile, Felix learned that Hyunjin is very passionate about art – any type of art. He loves dancing – something they have in common – and writing songs, yet rarely singing as he’s not that confident in his voice – Felix silently hoped he’ll be able to change that since he always encourages people to never stop chasing their dreams and passions. He also adores sketching and painting, especially flowers – said he finds beauty in the way flowers wither and find the strength to bloom again every year – and is excited to finish his “Art Museums To Visit” list. And to top it off, he’s interested in photography as well. To Felix, Hyunjin sounded like art personified.

Today, however, was a special day, at least for Hyunjin. They were supposed to video call. To be honest, Hyunjin had no idea of how he was even supposed to hide his excitement once he accepts that call, so to stop stressing about that, he busied himself with a drawing – that turned out to look suspiciously similar with Felix’s face, but he could swear he did not plan on sketching him, his hands just moved on their own. So when he heard his phone ringing, interrupting his lo-fi playlist that was playing in the background, he jumped out of his seat and paddled over to his desk, snatching his phone and sliding his finger on the screen, accepting the call. Can’t let the fairy wait for too long.

The first thing he saw was a blob of blond hair, before Felix’s pretty freckled face came into view, a smile immediately forming on his face.

“Hi Jinnie! How have you been?”

“Hi there, Lixie! Doing alright, been sketching some portraits. How have you been? You said you had a long photoshoot today, right? How did it go?”

At the photoshoot mention, the blond let out a tired sigh and rolled his eyes, a pout adorning his lips. Hyunjin frowned, tilting his head.

“Busy day?” he asked.

“Horrible. Not only was it tiring, but the photographer was so rude, Jinnie! She kept yelling at me just because I couldn’t keep up with her indecisive ass! ‘Turn to the left. No, closer to the right. Lean back. No, actually come forward.’ Like make up your mind? She did the same thing with the actual poses too, telling me something then changing her mind a millisecond later. How are you going to be angry at me when you can’t do your job right? Just let me pose and do my thing if you can’t give clear instructions, I’m a professional – unlike a specific brunette bit- lady, possessor of a camera, which by the way, was the only thing professional about her, and zero IQ – so let me do my job, because at least one of us should do that right,” the blond rambled, taking a huge breath of air after he finished. “Shit, sorry for randomly ranting so much. I didn’t mean to, I was just so fed up.”

Hyunjin was quick to shake his head and reassure him that there was nothing wrong with ranting, especially to him.

“Never apologize for ranting, Lix! I really don’t mind it, I’m actually happy you feel comfortable enough to tell me about your day and worries in such detail! And I’m truly sorry you encountered such a shitty person that ruined your day.”

“Oh, it happens, you know? On days like this I remember how much I miss Seungmin. I wish I could hire him as my personal photographer for any future photoshoots.”

At the mention of Seungmin’s name, Hyunjin’s ears perked up, a small smirk forming on his mouth. “Seungmin? You know him?”

“Hm? Oh yeah. He happened to be my photographer a few times. The most recent one was last week, when I had the photoshoot with Jeongin.”

“Oh my gosh, spill! Did Innie make a fool of himself in front of him?”

Felix burst out laughing as he nodded his head and managed to get out a reply through his giggles. “He zoned out so many times, Jinnie! Oh, you should have been there! I had to nudge him any time Seungmin was instructing him to move a bit. It was hilarious, that boy was probably daydreaming about their marriage.”

“As expected of him. I’ve been telling him to risk it and ask him on a date for months now, but he just won’t listen. The worst outcome would be him getting rejected, but at least he’ll know if it’s worth the pining or not.”

“Worth the pining? Aren’t you too harsh? If someone were to confess to me and I reject them, if they just give up after that, it means they didn’t like me to begin with. I like people who put in some effort. If they tried hard enough – without overstepping any boundaries, of course – I might have ended up getting interested, you know?”

“Okay, that’s fair. You’ve got a point. But still, there’s no reason for him to be so afraid to ask someone out.”

“Ah, but you know that’s easier said than done. Would you not be scared to ask the person you like on a date? Would you really not care if they reject you? I think that’s a natural fear that takes time to overcome it.”

“I asked you out on a date, didn’t I?” Hyunjin blurted out before he could stop himself, slapping a hand over his mouth the next second, wide eyes watching Felix’s surprised expression, that soon turned into an amused smirk.

“Did you, now? I guess my memory is playing tricks on me. I must have forgotten, care to remind me when exactly did you mention the word ‘date’?”

Fuck. Why did Hyunjin find this attitude so hot? Felix was exuding confidence even through the screen.

“Well… I didn’t think the word was needed? I invited you to bake together at my house, so I thought… Was it only obvious in my head?” Hyunjin asked, slightly pouting.

“I fear that yes, only you found that obvious, cutie. That could easily pass as a friendly hangout. You should be more straightforward with me, I like that in men,” Felix muttered that last phrase in his deep voice, accompanied by a wink.

“Say less. Make sure you don’t regret what you asked for when I get too bold.”

“Oh, I would never. You’re quite adorable when you try to flirt.”

So he does know that Hyunjin’s flirting. Should this scare or excite him?

“That’s weird. You know, most people find me hot the first time they see or interact with me, yet you never called me anything besides cute or adorable.”

“I guess your hotness disappears when you get flustered, then. But that’s alright. That just means you got other sides of yourself to show me, which is quite exciting, if you ask me.”

Damn him and his cutely-hot wink.

“Are you… flirting back?” Hyunjin asked, a small smile present on his lips.

“Am I?” Felix cutely tilted his head and started giggling. “Where’s the fun in spoiling it, Hyunnie? Let’s just say I’m going with the flow. You never know what life’s got in store for you.”

Well you better be in that damn store, Hyunjin thought.

They spent the next 2 hours rambling about everything and nothing. The conversation flew naturally and they had no idea how they even got to some of the topics involved, because Hyunjin silently asked himself that when he heard the last sentence that left Felix’s mouth:

“No, but I’m telling you! Aliens would look really cute in fairy costumes.”

…what? At this point of the conversation, Hyunjin was just watching Felix’s focused expression as he justified his point of view about aliens being cute creatures, whereas Hyunjin found them weird and ugly.

“But we don’t even know what they actually look like?” Hyunjin confusedly asked.

“Exactly! So you can’t say they’d be ugly!”

“Well then you can’t say they’d be cute either!”

“Who wouldn’t look cute in a fairy costume, Jinnie?! You got no fashion taste, really,” Felix tsked as he faked offense.

“Excuse you? I dress nicely, thank you very much!”

So yeah, they talked about any kind of topics that night, and it truly was such a funny and calming experience. If anyone were to listen to their call, no one would guess they only started talking a week ago.

Hyunjin was usually excited for his daily stream, yet he postponed today’s stream with the excuse of not feeling too well — which wasn’t completely wrong, he did feel a bit sick due to the nerves he had — because he sure as hell would not cut his time with Felix short because of his job. After all, his job is flexible so he might as well take advantage of that. Who knew when will Felix have the time for another video call?

While talking about their plans for tomorrow, a yawn left Felix’s mouth mid sentence.

“Are you getting sleepy? Am I that boring?” Hyunjin jokingly asked.

Felix laughed and shook his head, his small hand still covering his mouth. “You’re the total opposite of the word boring, don’t worry. I’m just a bit tired. Busy day, I told you.”

“Glad I’m good at keeping you entertained, but you should rest. As you told me, tomorrow’s supposed to be a pretty tiring day as well. Let me know how it goes, alright?”

“Of course! I got quite comfortable with you now, so my rants might involuntarily increase, beware.”

“Please, it would be an honor to wake up to your rants in my dms. They would definitely brighten up my days.”

“Would they? I’ll make sure to keep my word, then,” he winked.

After they said their goodnights and ended the call, Hyunjin could not stop smiling. For the record, Felix ended it with “I had fun tonight! You seem like a nice person, no wonder Jeongin and Minsung are such good friends with you. I really hope we can keep in touch. I’m open to more late night video calls whenever both of us are free.

So to be fair, Hyunjin was already over the moon by the call itself and Felix’s words. You can imagine how he felt when he saw the message Felix sent a few minutes after the call ended:

Lixie🍪: Oh right, I forgot to ask you. When are we having our baking “friendly hangout” in the end?:)
