Chapter Text

"Aren't you going to ask?"

"What?" Tam was confused.

"When you asked if I could draw the sword, if I were evil enough or powerful enough," Thawin said.

"I know you are not evil, so I don't need to ask."

"You're wrong, I am both."

"No, maybe you were evil before, but now you are not. Don't be so hard on yourself, P'Thawin...What now? Is this room sealed?" Tam changed the topic.

"Yes and no. I have strong seals prepared in several rooms in the basement, but I always have to adjust the room to the specific object. If you look closely at the walls, ceiling, and ground, not all the runes and symbols are active," Thawin explained, continuing what he was doing before Tam interrupted him with his question about the sword.

Tam watched as some of the runes and symbols gradually glowed after Thawin touched them. He could feel the room slowly sealing, magic flowing through him.

After they returned to the main part of the mansion, Tam was consumed by a dilemma. He wanted to continue asking Thawin questions about magic, but he also wanted to finish the book. Plus, he wanted to search for some things, as he was starting university the following week.

“I can almost see the smoke rising from your head. You’re overthinking. What seems to be the problem?” Thawin asked.

“Can you clone me, or can I clone myself with magic? I’m unsure what to do first. I want to do everything at once.”

"Making a clone of yourself or someone else is not as easy as it seems in all the fantasy stories or in the world of ninjas like Naruto. Yes, it is possible, but there is a big but. You could say that it’s closer to scientific cloning. No clone will be identical, even though the DNA is the same.
When I clone myself using magic, it will not create a pure copy of me, but rather an empty shell that retains my memories, albeit without my emotions and personality. Those memories for my clone will only be as if he read the story but was not invested because he cannot feel it yet."

"So clones are an unwritten page?"

"Exactly. There is a magical safety switch. Because when conjuring a clone, the clone can't get a mix of emotions. The magic would be attached to one specific emotion that the conjurer felt the most. The clone feels it to the extreme. Most often, it is anger or delight that can lead to mania, both of which can cause destruction. That is why clones gradually learn emotions. It’s a difficult magic, and it takes time. In other words, it's too much unnecessary work. No one can bypass that safety switch, not even evil. It is written directly into the core of magic. The soul just knows you can’t.
Once you can use magic like breathing, you will feel the rules of magic that were written by both sides. It is likely that at the beginning of time, there was no safety switch for conjuring a clone, and I dare to guess that it had catastrophic consequences for the whole world, good and evil.
If I may suggest something, there was enough magic today. You can finish the book before going to bed, so why don’t you look up things for school before dinner?”

Tam no longer questioned how Thawin knew what his dilemma was about, but his solution was perfect. He also had more to think about regarding magic rules.

Notes:

I wanted to use clone for Ninja World, but my TenPrem story is not at a stage where it would be suitable, and it was not forced. Instead, I at least mentioned Naruto in ThawinTam's story.
For those who don't know, Naruto's favorite jutsu is creating clones.
