Chapter Text

Iruka couldn't seem to push his excitement down when he managed to get through the firewall. It had taken him close to a fortnight to study all the niggling bits of code and interesting ways they had set up their security.

Majority of the time it didn't take Iruka long to get through most secure servers and websites.

However whoever setup the security for Blade Industry had done a marvelous job but that wouldn't deter Iruka in the slightest. He quite enjoyed a challenge and was too stubborn to back down.

He shifted around in the ratty computer chair, more duct tape than chair left. He raised his arms up and stretched, god he was stiff. He couldn't remember the last time he had got up and walked around.

Iruka thought to himself it wouldn't be a horrible idea to flick the kettle on and have a nice caramel sachet coffee. He deserved to have a treat after all of that hard work.

Slowly pushing the chair out and with a quick glimpse back at the monitor just in time to see something red flashing near the bottom left.

Iruka quietly cursed underneath his breath, not wanting to wake up Naruto. The boy should be out cold like the dead after coming back from the summer camp earlier today. He thought fondly of his own adoptive charge. Only eleven years old with still way too much energy.

He studied the red flashing icon and on closer inspection it looked like a Kitsune mask but more dog-like than fox.

"Fuck my luck!" Iruka screeched out and pinched the top bridge of his nose.

Of course the legendary Hound had merely led Iruka into a false sense of security and victory.

Composing himself quickly and with little time to lose got straight back in action. He couldn't afford to traced back, especially not to his home.

His adoptive father Hizuen wouldn't be impressed if he got caught either. Iruka was technically off the books when it came to working for the family company.

The trusted Sarutobi Security Cyber & More had a many a fingers in every pie. Especially some less than savoury contracts with secretive government branches.

He didn't like those contracts particularly but it paid the bills better than his part time teaching gig.

He hoped to whatever or whoever could answer his silent prayer that he did enough to cover his tracks.

Iruka was reaching for the top computer desk drawer and felt himself freeze when three rapt knocks came from his bedroom window barely a metre away from himself.

He knew for a fact that the fire escape exit was located at the bathroom window. One of the reasons he had chosen this particular apartment.

"I know you're in there little dolphin." The deep muffled voice singing through the bedroom window.

Of course it was Iruka's bloody luck that there was someone crazy enough to be outside his window. At least the pull up window was locked. Really it should be nearly impossible for someone to be outside of his window being on the 12th floor and the fire escape at the opposite of the building.

Not knowing what to really do except for gingerly getting off the desk chair and grabbing the fork from his instant ramen cup he started backing towards his bedroom door. He had to make sure that Naruto was safe.

Before Iruka could even grasp the bedroom door handle he could hear the distinctive slide of the window opening and the sight of a pale fingerless gloved hand pushing the burgundy curtain to the side and gripping the inside window pane. In one fluid movement black clothed legs pushed through the open window followed suit by the rest of the man's body swinging through.

"Maa that's bad manners not even greeting someone knocking." The deep voice drawled almost lazily.

Iruka took in the sight of the stranger that had swung through his window. And what a sight it was, a tall man dressed in almost all black tactical clothing with compacted muscle and large spikey silver hair not even properly contained by a navy blue bandana. What really struck Iruka was his face or lack of he could see. The man had a black cotton mask reaching up high barely leaving room for the man's dark grey eyes, over the skin of one eye sporting a deep scar. Though what Iruka could make of the man's face it looked angular and a nice jawline.

Shocked at his own thoughts, Iruka's brain stopped short circuiting and registered the man's words.

"I'm definitely not the one being rude here, who the fuck breaks into someone's home via the bedroom window" Iruka hissed at the stranger whilst raising the fork trying to look intimidating. The silver haired man chuckled, taking a couple of steps forward.

"Well now, you started this rude business by breaking into my security, let alone the firewall. I gotta say I'm rather impressed though." The man tilted his head and deeply stared at Iruka almost quizzically.

"I uh think you have the wrong person." Iruka flustered out. He knew that it sounded weak even to his own ears.

"I was immediately altered when you got into my system. I've been watching you this last week and a half Iruka." The man moved closer to Iruka as he was talking.

Yeah Iruka was definitely in a bit of a pickle. He should've known he was fucked when managed to get tangled into the legendary Hound's programming.

Iruka cursed at himself again when a tall silver haired man had managed to creep closer into his personal space without him realising. He couldn't stop the feeling of anxiety bubbling over. The man took a sharp inhale of breath.

"That's interesting, your file didn't mention anything about you being an omega." Hound said, the curiousness in voice evident.

"What don't you think an omega can be smart enough?" Iruka snapped at the man.

Though Iruka couldn't smell the second man's gender in the slightest, it was off putting.
The masked man raised his hands slowly with two palms face up, trying not to look hostile.

"Maa, just surprised however I shouldn't be knowing how sneaky old man Sabutori is." He tried to come across as placating.

Someone had definitely done their homework, Iruka thought to himself. It shouldn't be shocking that someone like Hound would be rather thorough. A lot more attentive than what Iruka had been. He chided himself for not being more careful, he had gotten a little bit lax as no one had gotten close to discovering his other persona.

Still he needed to get to Naruto, make sure no one else was in the apartment except for this one stranger. Iruka twisted his arm for the door knob, keeping his back to the door again except the taller man shoved both his hands on either side of Iruka's face, trapping him in place.

The masked man was barely an inch away from his face. Iruka could get a faint whiff of the man's actual scent. There was a trace of lemongrass and pine, barely a musky undertone of alpha.

It wasn't easy to hide one's scent, Iruka knew this after years of practice himself. It took Iruka a second that the man had tried to subtly scent him which was why he could smell the man's real scent.

"What do you think you're doing?" Iruka groused at him.

He could feel his face beginning to heat up whether from embarrassment or anger. It was considered rather intimate to scent another person.

"Sorry, got a little carried away there. Just curious why your scent is so muted." The silver haired man muttered the words out. He shook his head a little, seemingly trying to snap out of a daze. "But I do believe we have more pressing issues to address."

The man hadn't made a move to back off. Not even allowing Iruka any extra movement. He could feel the man's body heat being so close. Absently he wondered when he had let go of the fork.

"I've heard about the rumours of a certain hacker going by Dolphin. They didn't do you justice for how clever you are." The man winked at him." I've got a business proposition for you, I'm sure old man Sabutori wouldn't mind joining forces again."

That was definitely new news to Iruka. He hadn't heard about Hizuen working with Hound before. Of course it shouldn't be too shocking considering the company's many shadowy deals. A lot of jobs were completely off the books so to speak.

Iruka gulped, "I'm not at liberty to make those choices."

"Old man got you on a short leash?" Hound sounded amused.

Iruka was angered by the man's words. It was true Hizuen had kept a close watch over him but being a rare commodity so to speak wanted to make sure Iruka was safe.

The main reason why Iruka wasn't 'officially' working for the family business. It was best not to attract any attention to himself, let alone being found to be a male omega. The world had changed but discrimination was still present.

Feeling the surge of anger still rising and feeling cornered, Iruka swiftly brought his knee up aiming for the man's groin. Before even making contact the masked man had moved one arm down blocking the blow with his forearm.

"That's a bit vicious, struck a nerve there, did I?" The smug arse raised one eyebrow at him. The man slipped his forearm off Iruka's knee and replaced it with his hand.

"Get off me." Iruka said angrily.

"Promise not to try to run off again?" Hound sounded amused.

Iruka weighed up his options and knew he was out classed to try and stop the man. He had decent self defence but clearly Hound was highly trained by what he had seen so far.

"I don't really have a choice." Iruka murmured.

"You don't have sound so miserable. I'm not going to hurt you." The man removed his hands and took a couple of steps back.

The taller man let out a sigh and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Iruka, I've been in this game for a long time and it's not very often I come across people who've got certain skill sets like yours. I've got another contract coming up and wouldn't mind another set of eyes to help. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity, quite a lot of money if you choose to do so." The man had dropped the bored drawl, sounding serious.

"I'm doing just fine, thank you." It's not like Iruka had the time for a third job.

It was a struggle enough to look after Naruto between but that nice summer camp had set him back a bit.

He didn't like asking for money from adoptive father. Iruka had wanted to be independent and show him that he could be responsible enough to look after Naruto without help. He had barely turned twenty-three years old and was only just starting his career in teaching.

The man cocked one eyebrow up again. "Didn't you hear the part where I've been keeping tabs on you?"

"You sound like a stalker." Iruka snapped, feeling frustrated.

"Look I'll run it by the old man, I'm sure he would be fine with the proposal and me borrowing you for a while." The man doing the eye smile while tilting his head, completely ignoring the previous comment.

Well Iruka could really use the extra money especially if Hizuen agreed to contract him out temporarily. With a frustrated sigh he found himself replying back to the man. "Fine, if you get Hizuen's permission I'll take you up on the offer."

"Wonderful news Iruka, you won't regret it in the slightest." The silver haired man beamed at him, clapping his hand together.

"Was there anything else to discuss?" Iruka asked hesitantly.

"Maa I'm sure we could iron out the rest of the details after your shift finishes tomorrow." The almost bored drawl slipping back in.

How much had the other man observed and looked into his life? It was truly unnerving how much he knew about Iruka and all he knew was the alias he went by.

"You should tell me your name." Iruka blurted out.

"Ahh, I suppose I should probably introduce myself. Kakashi Hatake at your service." Kakashi winked at Iruka with his hand rubbing the back of his neck. "I should probably leave you to your night."

Iruka gawked at Kakashi who started to approach the bedroom window. He was definitely a bit of a character.

"I have a perfectly good door, you know." Iruka stated.

"I find windows more convenient." Kakashi mused.

"I highly doubt that, please use the door instead." Iruka pleaded.

He really didn't want any of his neighbours to see a strange (handsome) man leaving his bedroom window.

Kakashi half shrugged his shoulders and somehow managed to pronounce the man's thick biceps more. Iruka could feel his face heating back up and averted his gaze near Kakashi's booted feet instead.

"I suppose if you insist so much I could use the door." Kakashi whined.

Iruka shook his head and opened the bedroom door which led out to the small lounge room with the kitchen right next to it.

"Your apartment looks a lot nicer on the inside than from the outside." Kakashi commented.

Iruka could see from the corner of his eyes as the silver haired man scanned over his home. Maybe Iruka shouldn't have agreed to work with what appeared to be a stalker.

Iruka walked past the orange love couch that Naruto had begged for when they had gone op shopping for furniture. It was definitely an odd assortment of furnishings but Iruka was proud of it.

They had reached the front door and Kakashi had paused, almost looking unsure of himself.

"You do know how a door works right?" Iruka said with amusement.

"I'm a genius thank you very much, I just normally prefer the back entrance." Kakashi leered at him.

Feeling a familiar heat rising from his neck to his face, Iruka snapped. "You're an arse is what you are."

"Honestly it's part of my suave charm." Iruka glared at the alpha. "On that note I think I should take my leave for the night."

Without any further comments from Iruka; Kakashi made quick work of the two locks and chain opening the apartment door. With a quick two finger wave the spiky haired man walked out closing the door behind him.

Iruka hastily pressed his face up against the peephole to double check that Kakashi had actually started to move away from his apartment and just maybe catch a glimpse of that admittedly nicely built body. Instead Iruka saw or heard no trace of the man anywhere in the shared corridor. Iruka thought to himself who exactly was the man he had promised to work with.
