Chapter 1: i moved around from town to town

Chapter Text

Blot had always loved acting. As a kid he loved to play pretend, and watch plays. So, imagine the joy he felt when he finally joined the drama club at school? He loved it there, everyone there was so friendly, and he loved all the acts he did there. He wouldn't trade any of that for the world.

But then his dad got that job offer.

He wasn't being paid that well at his old job, and Blot understood that. But moving across the country was an entirely different thing.

So here he was, staring out the window of a plane for a vacation he didn't even wanna go on. The ink blot sighed, rolling his eye in annoyance. “It would be a fresh start” they said.

His last day in the big city were filled with teary goodbyes, and hugs that always lasted too long... and then they packed their moving bags.

And now they're here.

“…diputs os si sihT” Blot groaned. This was gonna be a long plane ride.

As Blot stepped foot on the grassy terrain, with heavy bags filled with his belongings dragging his arms down… he already had a feeling he wouldn't like it here.

“Ifz, ljeep… mjhiufo vq,” His father patted Blot’s shoulder, and he looked over at his dad with tired eyes. He just wanted to go back home. “J lopx zpv njtt ipnf, J ep upp. Cvu, zpv kvtu hpuub spmm xjui uif qvodift.”

Blot paused, nodding weakly. “,daD, sknahT” his eye light up softly as he walked into the house they were buying. The floorboards creaked below his weight, meanwhile spiderwebs hung in every corner. It smelt too clean, and even though the weather was quite nice, it didn't feel like home. It’d never be home.

“…trats hserf a rof hcum oS” He chuckled to himself.

"B|0+, H0N3Y!” His mom called out, shaking him from his thoughts. “H3|P U$ BR1N9 +H3 B49$ 1N+0 +H3 H0U$3!”

“!moM, gnimoC” He said, setting his bags near the window.

Chapter Text

It was only a week before Blot had to get enrolled into a school. He hadn't quite gotten used to the sun blinding his eye when he woke up, and he felt as if the cobweb in his room was alive somehow. But yet, he was getting put back into the building again. The school wasn't too far, so the ink blob could just walk there with ease.

The school day opened up how one would expect it to. The occasional push and shove during the passing periods, fighting the urge to fall asleep in class, the works. Until one particular class. Blot was writing down notes from a lecture he wasn't really all tuned into, until a voice whispered (in all honesty, it wasn't really a whisper) to him from behind.

“HEY!”

Blot jumped and turned to see two students in the row behind him. A piñata with “horns” stop her head and a yellow, pink and blue pattern spreading across her body, and a yellow balloon dog with a mis-matched pattern of green and purple on his ears and limbs.

“?iH …hhU” Blot responded tentatively, raising an eyebrow.

“What'd he say?” The balloon uttered.

“DOESN'T MATTER!” The piñata replied. “AAanywAY… Me and my buddy Looey over here saw you in the halls today and we were like ‘Woah, who's this kid, he looks PRETTY COOL’ and we were PLANNING on asking you to SIT with us, but HERE WE ARE! IN THE SAME HISTORY CLASS! HAHA!” She rambled, Blot was honestly a little concerned for her.

The balloon dog (who Blot presumed was named Looey) hesitantly cleared his throat and added: “What she's saying is, Yatta was wondering if you'd like to be friends!” He explained slowly, gaining his confidence. “Sit with us at lunch, talk after school… the works.” He smiled politely and Yatta nodded enthusiastically.

“,hO” Blot said. Albeit how much of a mess this duo looked, they seemed pretty nice. And he did need some friends at this school. “.ynapmoc emos esu dluoc I !eruS”

“SAY AGAIN?” Blot eternally sighed. Of course.

“.seY”

“Alright! We'll see you at lunch… err..” Looey trailed off, looking the ink blob up and down. “Sorry, we didn't catch your name?”

“!tolB”

“That's a funny name!” Yatta laughed, covering her mouth with her hand.

The bell eventually rang, signalling the end of class.

Blot sat down at a practically empty table; Yatta on his right and Looey on his left. He looked down at his mediocre lunch, sighed and thought: “Is this REALLY what I'm gonna be eating?” but then Yatta tapped his shoulder.

“If YOU won't take it I will!” She suggested, a smile on her face that showed all of her three sharp teeth.

Even though Blot REALLY didn't wanna eat the meal before him, he declined the offer. He hadn't eaten since before school started this morning.

“.doog m’I …sknaht oN”

“If you insist!” The piñata grinned, tearing into her pizza. Blot looked at her with mock concern.

“Chill out, would you? It's not going anywhere.” Looey laughed, and Blot found himself chuckling as well. “Oh, Blot! How'd you get all the way to Gardenview in the first place?” He questioned.

“.evom ot dah ew os ,ereh tuo reffo boj siht tog dad ym ,lleW” He explained, Looey seemed to understand some of it.

“He couldn't have gotten that offer anywhere else?” Looey asked, raising an eyebrow. “It's so boring out here.”

“I KNOW right?” Yatta complained, her mouth full of pizza crust. She swallowed before adding “The only real fun thing to do out here is drama club!”

Blot paused, drama club? He felt like he could finally regain some normalcy here. “You look like you're interested!” The piñata chuckled. “Y'know, since it IS the start of the year, they're taking new members!” She explained.

“,huH” Blot loosely commented.

Maybe he would get used to this.

Notes:

i haven't read too many Yatta fics but i don't think anyone talks about how FUN she is to write, that's way she has a lot more lines than looey (I think)

Chapter Text

It's been 3 weeks since Blot first started at Gardenview Highschool. He has two close friends, and he's joined the drama club. He thinks his life here is kinda getting better!

Of course, he still hasn't gotten used to the lack of busy cars on the streets, or the way he never gets woken up by police cars rushing down the road. But it's getting there.

On the topic of getting used to things, with a new school, you meet new people! And Blot's not just talking about his friends Looey, and Yatta.

Talking backwards is kind of awkward in a building where everyone else talks normally; having to dumb down his speech for everyone around him gets annoying. But the people here are kind enough to at least try to understand him.

Speaking of people…

“Howdy there, pardner.”

Blot sighed, his eyebrow furrowing ever so slightly.

“.gninrom dooG”

Bic was the annoying cowboy that just so happened to sit next to him. He had a dumb cocky smirk, and an attitude that Blot couldn't stand for the life of him. Ever since he met this bacon strip his life has gotten way harder than it needs to, and he already doesn't really like the countryside!

Bic smirked, adjusting his hat and teasing him some more. “I reckon you should simmer down before teach’ catches us chattin’, Inkwell.”

Blot did nothing but roll his eyes.

People like that had always gotten on Blot’s nerves, always acting like they're the toughest thing on Earth.

Guess he'll just have to deal with it for an entire school year.

He sighed and took out a pencil.

“Oh, do you mind if I borrow a—”

“.flesrouy eno teg tsuJ”

Chapter 4: what i'm certain's mad incompetence

Chapter Text

Blot sat in his drama club with Yatta and Looey, talking to each other and working on improv lines.

He wouldn't say he didn't enjoy it there, but it certainly wasn't perfect. The school never funded the group enough for them to do much, but the person who ran it said that they were indeed planning something at the end of the quarter.

He sat there, watching his friends argue about some topic that he figured wasn't that important, but was pretty fun to listen to. Blot chuckled, his shoulders shaking with laughter.

The club then heard a firm knock at the door, and the leader gasped and clapped their hands, trying to get the attention of their peers.

“Everyone, please welcome our newest club member, Bic!”

Blot felt his heart sink.

“.suoires eb tonnac uoY”

“OOHH!” Yatta exclaimed. “Blot, is this the ANNOYING guy in your history class that you HATE?” She stage whispered, leaning into the ink blot, who looked like he would rather be anywhere else.

“You told us about him yesterday, didn't you?” She questioned, raising an eyebrow as Looey chuckled softly beside her.

“He doesn't seem all that bad,” he teased, looking the bacon toon over for a while before turning back to his friend. "I don't really get why you hate him so much, Blot.”

Don't get it? DON'T GET IT?! What isn't there to get?! He's arrogant, cocky, and all around annoying! God, why'd he have to join the drama club?

“It's a pleasure to be here,” Bic smiled, tipping his hat (how can he wear that in the building?) politely.

The ink blot let out a loud, exaggerated sigh as his eyes rolled so far, he thought he'd get stuck back there. “!ereh eb ot erusaelp a s’tI” He mocked, moving his hands as he spoke.

“Somethin’ funny, Inkwell?” Bic raised an eyebrow, his hands on his hips.

“.uoy tuoba gnihton yletinifed, hO”

“Very funny,” Bic smirked, a hint of irritation in his tone. “Lookie here, Blot. It's not like I'd like t’ be ‘ere either, ya here?” He said, crossing his arms.

The ink blob paused. Then why join in the first place? Despite himself, he raised a curious eyebrow.

“?ereh eb annaw t’nod uoy fi bulc amard a nioj yhw ..nehT”

Bic walked over to Blot’s seat and leaned on the wall, and Blot recoiled slightly. “M’ folks over at home told me to join one of the clubs in ‘ere school.” He explained, crossing his arms.

“Well, we hope you learn to enjoy it here regardless, Bic!” Looey added, his stretchy ears bending behind his head.

“YEAH! Even if Blot HATES you!” Yatta nodded, smiling giddily.

“I’ll certainly try, candy woman.”

Bic walked away and took his seat somewhere, trying to tune into the improv lesson that was happening before. Yatta leaned over to Blot and whispered in his ear:

“I know what you see in him now, he's kinda annoying."
