Chapter 1: Pondering

Chapter Text

One was having the best day of her life.

Every step of the plan she had spent years meticulously planning while trapped in that god forsaken moon had finally come to fruition. Every spite filled step of how she would take down Two and Four and everyone else had worked out exactly as planned. With only a few slip ups from a certain leaf and donut she wouldn’t mention every contestant had unknowingly played their part perfectly. She’d even managed to get Four’s power along with Two’s out of Pencil, something she hadn’t originally planned but was a nice touch nonetheless. And now? She was soaring through the endless advance of space with both their powers and not a single soul who could stop her.

One had been having fun testing her newfound powers by destroying all the planets she had seen in her path, leaving them distorted and lifeless messes before exploding their stars and moving on all while cackling with delight. It was in the middle of one of her destructive episodes that something caught her eye, a black hole mindlessly consuming one of the planets half its size at the edge of the system she was midway through destroying. The sight made her pause for a moment, bringing back the memory of another Black Hole she had kidnapped just hours before. One sighed before disappearing with a small pop, deciding to cease her power testing in order to deal with the celestial problem in her realm she had forgotten about.

The integer popped into her pocket dimension, familiar blue walls and gold floors surrounding her. A pristine armchair sat in the middle of the sparsely decorated room which she quickly settled into before summoning a screen in front of her. It opened to static for a moment then transformed into feed from the room she had sent Black Hole too, the same room she had sent all the objects of Two’s stupid show she had made deals with. As One stared at the screen the first thing she noticed was the new state of the room, somehow it was in further disarray then before which she hadn’t thought possible. Books and papers littered the floor, though more scarce than before. The few paper stars that were still on the ceiling were hanging by a thread and all the furniture was toppled over. And in the middle of the room sat Black Hole, curled up on the floor holding his knees to his chest.

One simply sat back and watched the singularity for a while, trying to figure out exactly what to do with him. A multitude of plans turned over in her head but none gave her the satisfaction she wanted as well as being a permanent fix. Even with all her newfound power Black Hole was, well a black hole and as such posed as quite the nuisance when it came to dealing with him. Letting out a grumpy sigh One opened another screen and started playing back recordings of Two’s show, while she already knew about Black Hole’s discomfort around death she wanted to see if she could find any other weaknesses to take advantage of.

. . .

Dear math she was bored. Having to scour the show of someone she hated just to deal with this annoying piece of collapsed space time was getting on One’s nerves. The integer was slumped back in her seat, intent on going on another spree of mass destruction until she felt better when her recordings landed on a scene that caught her eye. She recognised it as the ‘nightmare challenge’ though she hadn’t spent much time in Black Hole’s specifically. The whole thing had been one of the more entertaining challenges to stalk; and for what it was worth in the brief time she was there watching the celestial being attempt to hunt down his teammates had provided her with a few laughs. One finally shifted to sit up properly, curiosity pulling at her as she flipped through the feed of Black Hole’s full nightmare. In actuality she’d never seen how the whole thing ended, just that it seemed to have resolved some of his issues around his aversion to death and kicked off a new ‘Life Pact’ he’d made with Fanny. Surely if he had any other weaknesses she would be able to find them here.

And a weakness she did find.

One watched their final talk in a white void multiple times, each time there was a single sentence from the singularity himself that stood out to her. ‘I dream and I wish things are normal’ A smile spread across One’s face, eyes lighting up as a plan finally clicked into place inside her mind. She stood, smoothed off her clothes and fixed her hat before teleporting out of the room with a small pop.

Normal was a redundant word to the integer but to get him out of the way she could find a way to grant that wish.
