Summary:

Stede Bonnet escapes from a world where he’s never felt he fit in into a world where everyone has an animal companion, a daemon - everyone but him, of course, because he wasn't born here. He hears about the dread pirate Blackbeard and his kraken daemon, cursed to live at sea forever, and is fascinated by the legend.

Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard, hears about the Gentleman Pirate, who doesn’t have a daemon, and sees an opportunity to escape the life that traps him.
