Chapter 1: The Watchers and the renters
Chapter Text
Welcome to the Scientific Mastery Project run by the creatures that call themselves Watchers.
If you find yourself a subject in one of these laboratories, it means the Watchers have deemed you worthy of being part of their food farm. They don't want your flesh, however. These creatures feed on misery. They have locked you into their labs so they can subject you to events designed to make you suffer. The finer details of those things depend on which Scientific Mastery Project you end up in. Oh, don't worry, you'll get moved around and see your fair share of white walls and torture rooms, but the Watchers will always have someplace they prefer you to be. A default laboratory.
The subjects listed in the following files have found themselves unlucky enough to be in the primary series of labs, called "The Life Series."
In these labs the subjects have simple lives. One hallway of bedrooms, each room with one window to observe people passing by. At one end of the hall is a shared bathroom, and at the other end is the door to the lobby. The lobby is where most subjects spend their time. It is empty outside of a few tables, four white walls, four doors in the center of each wall, and one clock hanging above one of the doors. Of the four doors, only three are available to the subjects. One leads to the bedroom hallway, one to the dining room, and the last one to the Practice Room where subjects had the chance to keep up any useful skills they might have. The fourth door is locked, and sometimes the Watchers come in and leave out of the door. When a subject ever manages to wiggle past it, all they find is a maze of hallways, testing chambers, and storage rooms. They can't get beyond that before they are tranquilized remotely via the collars they are forced to wear, and then they are dragged back to their room to await whatever punishment the Watchers have created to make an example out of escapees.
The lab isn't the worst place a subject could be. They could be on a rental.
See, upkeep of the labs isn't cheap. And as much as the Watchers "only do it for the food" they would also love to get a bit of cash out of the situation. So what do they do? They rent their subjects on the dark web. Most often a subject will find themselves shipped off to work for a gang, or drug dealer, or mafia boss, or the occasional corrupt politician. These people pay for the subject's work, and sometimes they pay a little extra for the rights to lay hands on them. Many subjects will return to the lab with bruises, open wounds, or broken bones.
The Watchers don't seem to be a sexually reproducing species; instead, they appear to work like parasites. They have some sort of process, no one knows what exactly, to convert someone into a Watcher. They always wear masks, but sometimes the subjects get small glimpses at a variety of features. sometimes scales or fins, sometimes feathered. Sometimes they bleed red, sometimes blue. And sometimes they are totally human-looking. They all hide behind full-body coverage. The face of the original Watcher is unknown, but their ideas have been passed down from creature to creature until now.
Until this group of Watchers decided to make a farm for suffering to feed their growing population.
Chapter 2: 01 Grian
Chapter Text

Training programs completed: lab assistant, [redacted]
Medication: no current medication
Specialties: none
Social info: Grian is currently unresponsive to all forms of stimulus. This is likely due to [redacted]. He spends the majority of his time in his bed staring out the window. Since [redacted] he has only left his room to retrieve food, and does not speak to anyone. Jimmy and Martyn have both attempted to get a response from him. Recently, one of the new subjects, Scar, has taken an interest in him. This is likely due to the brief interaction they had before Scar was brought into the lab.
Info for long-term renters: Grian is not currently available for rentals.
Chapter 3: 02 Martyn Littlewood
Chapter Text
Designation: 02 Martyn Littlewood
Also responds to: Marty

Appearance: human, blond hair, blue eyes
Training programs completed: none

Specialties: bartending, cooking, cleaning, adult entertainment
Social info: Martyn works best solo, although he seems to cling to Ren. Even with Ren's current training program, Martyn still spends large portions of his day with him. We are unsure why he does this, but he seems depressed when he is apart from Ren for long periods of time. Martyn is one of the few subjects who have consistently been on good terms with Jimmy. Martyn is one of the few subjects who tries to speak to Grian regularly. Before her transfer to a separate lab, Martyn participated in a faux wedding ceremony with Netty, whom he had been engaged to when they were both brought into the lab. After her removal, he was uncooperative for several months. We suspect he will react similarly if Ren is removed too.
Info for long-term renters: Martyn collects gemstones and is motivated by an opportunity to add to his collection.

Jimmy's sister and brother-in-law are also subjects in the lab, Lizzie and Joel Smallishbeans. Joel is aggressively possessive of Jimmy. Jimmy also seems to get along with Martyn and Scott. When taking him for his rentals, do not tell him where he is going. Due to repeated abuse (returning with cuts, bruises, broken bones, etc.) he will fight to avoid going to his rentals.
Info for long-term renters: Jimmy is easily scared by crowds and loud noises due to interactions with previous renters. He will calm down in small dark spaces.
*cage training: These subjects often have issues with lots of people or loud noises. They have been conditioned to retreat into their cage to calm down. The cage is a small, dark space at the foot of their bed, designed to make the subject feel safe. Some subjects may need coercion to enter their cage, but once they are inside, they should quiet down.

Pearl works well in public service jobs, and has never attempted to escape during the brief periods she has been allowed in public. Pearl seems to suffer from a violent manic disorder, which is aggravated by rejection. During her manic episodes she had managed to handcraft weapons and is often found wearing red. We do not know how she gets clothes outside of her uniform. Pearl has killed 3 Watchers. 5 Watchers. 6 Watchers. 11 Watchers. 13 Watchers. 16 Watchers.

Due to the event the subjects call "The Dogwarts Rebellion," Ren has undergone extreme conditioning. By making an example of their leader, all other subjects who participated in "The Dogwarts Rebellion" have been deterred from future escape attempts. Ren's conditioning effectively makes him puppy-like. During his conditioning, we used Lizzie as the main face who gave him orders and treats. Ren seems very fond of her now, and will always return to her at mealtimes for his food.
