Chapter Text

Exploring the afternoon Neverrean market with a happy and glowing Zinnia Potter was an unexpected but wonderful blessing, thought George, as he smiled down at the onyx haired submissive on his arm.

So much had happened following the battle of Hogwarts and at first many of the revelations caused more drama and upset. But now, nearly nine months in this new realm, they were finally ready to truly begin this new adventure. George had brought Zinnia out today in hopes of finding a location for their joke shop and to have some one on one time with his ZiZi.

He had left Fred at home to his moping. He was still prone to days of melancholy after Percy had saved Freddie’s life in the final battle, but at the cost of his own. George missed his older brother dearly and made sure to thank Percy everyday for sparing him his twin’s death. George felt like Percy was probably looking down on Fred with his judgmental eyebrows asking himself if Fred was going to waste his sacrifice.  Above all Percy was a rational bloke and would want each of them to live their best life in his absence and Fred was not right now. They really needed to get back to making the world laugh.

Zinnia squeezed his arm, pulling him from his thoughts. George looked down at his fellow dragel to see her eyes on a building for sale across the street from where they were standing. It was a massive stone structure with two large shop fronts and what looked to be two stories of apartments above it.

George looked back at Zinnia in confusion. “ZiZi this whole building is for sale. Isn’t it a bit much?”

Zinnia looked up at him with a mischievous sparkle in her eyes that made George’s heart lurch. The twins and Zinnia had known since they had inherited that there existed a potential soul bond between them, but everyone wanted to wait until ZiZi found her main triad. When she looked at him like that, it took all his willpower not to bond with her right here on the sidewalk.

ZiZi, the evil temptress, giggled at his discomfort and spoke before he could do anything ridiculous. Like bowing at her feet. “I knew we had been looking for the new location for WWW, but over the last month Oret and I spoke about my career goals. I know I don’t have to work with all the money in the Black, Potter, and Peverell vaults but I would be bored with nothing to do all day.”

George gasped and grabbed his chest in feigned dismay. “Bored? Never! No with your willing servants, Forge and Gred, around. Only ask and chaos will be placed at your fingertips.”

Zinnia laughed, “I know. I know. Anyways, when I thought about what I loved most about the wixen world on Earth and what I have seen a lack of since we came to Neverah, I came to one conclusion. Candy.” George raised an eyebrow and ZiZi rolled her eyes at his skepticism. “Yes there are a couple of bakeries and sweet shops but they are all rather mundane and boring. I want to make magical candy.”

ZiZi whirled out of his arms and struck a pose. She spread her arms wide and her long curly hair blew in the breeze. He watched her green eyes glow and she spoke in a grand theatrical voice, “Imagine flying Chocolate Nyturas with cards of the famous and historical Neverreans to collect. Lava Licorice Whips or Bubble Bonbons that cause bubbles to exit your mouth/gills into a multicolor wonder. Maybe Breezie Butterscotch that will create your own personal breeze as you walk. I have so many ideas. I want to embrace my namelessness and cater to all the elements that have made Neverah so amazing.” Then she bowed.

George grinned and applauded loudly, “Truly amazing, my dearest ZiZi. So we need two store fronts.” ZiZi nodded in agreement. George pointed to the top of the building, “What are we going to do with all that apartment space?”

Zinnia turned back to the building and gave it a look of contemplation. Then she waved a hand at the top and offered, “Well, we could convert it into offices. As you know, Hermione wants to start a spell crafting and warding business and Andromeda wants to finish her runes mastery and start working for the guild. I don’t think we want them to meet with clients at our island home. Then there’s Ron, of course. He still needs to finish gheyo training, but he told me he had some ideas on his future that could use some space.”

George winked and continued, “And who knows what space our future circle might need as well.”

ZiZi blushed all over, making George grin wide. Quickly he looked around and got an idea of the area they were in. Still close to the central market but heading to the shadow and fire districts. It was perfect really.

George swooped over to Zinnia and twirled her in his arms. They both giggled and he shouted, “Let’s go message the realtor!” Seeing ZiZi’s bright smile as they skipped down the street, George just knew the future was going to be bright.

Chapter Text

A young fae glided and twirled in her yellow sundress down the cobblestoned sidewalk. Giggling as she came closer to her destination, while passersby stopped to watch her with indulgent smiles.

Luna had only arrived yesterday and was eager to begin. Her visions regarding her dear Zinnia had finally settled after months of constant upheaval at the end of the war. This current future had been such a slim possibility, Luna had only seen glimpses of it over the years, but now that it seemed certain she knew just what to do going forward. Such peace and happiness rarely found Zinnia Potter and Luna was so excited she was going to be such an important part of this future with her dearest submissive.

Zinnia’s circle would be different in some key ways as she walked this more peaceful path but Luna knew well that different could be just as wonderful. With the night of a thousand prophecies in the past, ZiZi had been able to worm her way into a rare future where she would be able to have a relatively fairytale beginning that would be a solid foundation for the rest of her long life.

Coming to a whirling stop in front of her circle’s businesses, Luna was overjoyed to see that they had made the building their very own brand of special. The bright orange would help keep the wrackspurts away and that shade of blue could attract a crumple-horned snorkack soon enough. She could barely contain her excitement. The stores had yet to open but soon enough they would be ready to be a success across Neverah. She waltzed through the door and made her way inside to find Zinnia, George, Fred, Ginny, and Hermione sitting at a large table working on various tasks.

With all of her wild curls piled on her head and ink stains on her cheeks, Zinnia was a picture of loveliness. She was also the first to look up and her slightly stressed expression transformed into a huge smile at the sight of the fae. Luna would have blushed if she knew how.

Zinnia jumped from her stool and ran towards the fae. “Luna! What are you doing here?! I’ve missed you so much.” The hug Luna received was everything she could have wanted and more.

“The plum-bellied vicuñas informed me you were in need of some recipes.” She waved the scroll of parchment in her hand. “I spoke with Daddy and he was able to sweet talk Mr. Flume to part with some trade secrets, as long as we marketed them as Honeydukes products from Terra.”

Zinnia’s awe was a wonderful sight and she gave Luna a look of wonder as she continued to explain, “I also spoke with my friend Rolf and he introduced me to a candy maker in the fae realm who was willing to sell some of their products here as well.”

The rest of the group had made their way to Luna to exchanged greetings and celebrate as she finished speaking. She handed her first courting gift to Zinnia and was filled with glee as Zinnia’s joy enveloped the room.

Zinnia read through the scroll and the longer she read the more she bounced in happiness. “This is wonderful, Luna! There are recipes for Drooble’s Best Blowing Gum, Shock-O-Choc, Ice Mice, and so much more!” She turned to Luna and swept her up in a hug. Luna decided to make her stance perfectly clear. She turned and kissed Zinnia on the lips, causing her submissive to beam brightly with reddening cheeks.

Now she just needed to figure out how to get their amazing alpha through the doors. She missed him a great deal and Luna knew Zinnia would be ecstatic to see him as well.

Next Chapter Florence (OC)

Chapter 3: Florence Kadel

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Florence Kadel stood in front of the bright building with a small amount of trepidation, holding her portfolio tightly to her chest. She had been waiting many years for this moment and could barely believe the time had finally arrived. Her tall and willowy form remained unmoving as others went about their day as she worked up the nerve to go inside and begin this next stage in her life.

Since she was young, Florence had been hidden by the Kadel clan from outsiders due to her ESP(extrasensory perception) ability. Many members of the clan had rare and coveted gifts and she was no exception. Florence had always loved her talent and had been one of the fortunate few who weren’t crippled by their nameless ability. Her ESP made it where anytime the question was asked on where something or someone was, Florence could see it in her mind’s eye. Where is my shoe? Where did that joker run off to? Florence was given a mental image.

She spent countless hours fine-tuning her artistic abilities in order to better convey her sight. By the time she unexpectedly inherited as a gheyo, she had become a renowned artist among her clan and their allies.  Her Aunt Maia reached out to Lady Pi and Florence spent the next several years quietly training, settling happily at a princess rank.

When she came of age and needed to strike her bargain with Lady Fate, Florence was prepared. She had always been a quiet person, spending her time drawing and helping with missing person cases, so she offered her voice up freely to her Lady. Over the last decade Florence had learned countless ways to communicate and her life in the Kadel clan was nearly perfect.

The only problem was every time Florence asked herself, where is my submissive? They were impossible to see, then too young to inherit, then the submissive was surrounded by unrecognizable objects or places. Florence often wondered if she was going to have to leave Neverah to find her heart.

Florence did look for other members of her future circle and often the images were too blurred, who they would end up being unclear. Finally a little over a year ago the circle became clear and the members shocked Florence so badly, she sought out her Aunt Maia for help. Florence had been reassured but she was hesitant to search her submissive or suite out.

Yesterday Maia materialized in her home and told her it was time. So with the command disguised as a polite comment from her clan head, Florence was now seeking out her future circle. Straightening her light blue everyday armor, Florence took a deep breath and hurried inside.

As soon as she entered, Florence found the otherworldly eyes of her fellow Fate touched and they both broke into matching smiles. “Sister!” Exclaimed the pearly blonde young fae with her arms open as she hurried to embrace Florence.

Florence hugged her back and cast her preferred writing spell, It is wonderful to meet another one of Lady Fate’s children, Luna right?

The fae nodded and looped arms with Florence, dragging her deeper into the room. As they rounded a corner, the princess found a large group of people working, including several members of her future circle and in the center of the chaos was her submissive. Florence made eye contact with the petite green eyed dragel and smiled softly as the fae introduced her. “Everyone, we have an artist for the Chocolate Nytura Cards! Now we just need Ethan for research and we will be good to go!” Luna twirled around in her light pink and neon orange dress in her overflowing excitement, making Florence and their submissive smile.

Florence’s gaze moved to a woman with tight ringlet curls and mocha brown skin who looked over at Luna in shock and exclaimed, “How do you know Ethan, Luna? I just met him today at the library!”

Luna ignored the irritated woman and patted Florence’s satchel absentmindedly, “Florence, show Zinnia your drawings. She is going to love them.”

The green eyed beauty made her way to Luna’s side and spoke softly, “Luna, will you introduce us properly?”

Luna blinked her wide blue eyes at the submissive, “Oh, of course. Zinnia, this is Florence. Florence, this is our submissive.”

The red headed pareya twins began laughing in the background as Zinnia sputtered in shock at Luna. Florence decided she would have to intervene and save her heart. She flipped her braids over her shoulder, causing the bells tied on the ends to chime and focus Zinnia’s eyes on her.  Hello, my name is Florence Kadel, nameless gheyo princess with an air affinity. It’s wonderful to finally meet you.

Zinnia let out a chirp of confusion, “Finally?”

Florence gave her a smile of adoration and explained, My nameless gift is commonly called remote viewing. It allows me to see where someone or something is. Years ago I saw you, though I had no idea where exactly this was. She handed a drawing of Zinnia sitting in class with a wooden focus in her hand. Florence thought she was probably only ten or so in the picture.

Zinnia examined the drawing and her face filled with wonder, “Wow, this is amazing. You are an excellent artist.  I’m sure it was hard knowing my face but not my location for so long. Look Hermione, you are sitting next to me!” Florence watched the mocha skinned girl hurry to Zinnia’s side with amusement.

As the group crowded around Florence, Hermione asking question after question, the twins trying to guess the number of times Florence saw them in the shower, and Zinnia just grinning at them all, Florence knew she was finally home. Now she just needed to wait for her suite to get their acts together and make their way to their lovely submissive’s side.

Chapter 4: Ethan Hartwood

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Ethan looked at the address on the piece of paper in his hand and the building in front of him for the third time since he had arrived. He met a fellow book lover at the library last week and she came by yesterday morning with an odd request. Hermione had given him this address and now here he was, in front of a candy shop of all things. He didn’t think the woman was one who enjoyed playing pranks but the store that shared an entrance with the address of his meeting put doubt to that idea.

Still curious what kind of research a candy store would need, Ethan made his way inside to half filled fixtures and boxes all over the place. Out of the corner of his eye, Ethan saw movement and turned, locking eyes with a pair of bright emerald ones. His breath caught and he smiled widely at the captivating submissive who was blushing brightly at him. When she realized she was still staring at him, the box she had been levitating went crashing to the floor, scattering its contents everywhere.

”Merlin!” With an exclamation of dismay and embarrassment the young woman quickly ran over to the mess and began to clean up. She started rambling and her cheeks became even darker the longer she spoke, “Goodness, I’m so clumsy. It’s just you surprised me…NOT that that’s a problem. You’re cute. Fuck. I’m… You’re welcome here. Can I help you? We don’t open for a couple months. It’s lovely to meet you. Umm…”

As she was speaking Ethan had knelt to help pick up the candy and he placed a hand on the submissive’s to calm her. She quieted instantly from her rambling and stared at their hands where they touched. A soul connection sparked between them. Ethan gazed at their hands as well in amazement. He had a potential soul bond with this submissive.

The woman seemed to have collected herself and said with joy in her voice, “Wow, so I’m Zinnia Potter. I’m so glad to have met you.” She was now looking into his eyes with the same awe he felt. Ethan nodded in agreement and quickly said, “It’s wonderful to have met you as well. I’m Ethan Hartwood.”

Zinnia perked up and asked, “Hermione’s friend from the library.”

”Yes, that’s me. She mentioned a research opportunity here?” He ended on a questioning tone and a grin. Really, he still didn’t understand what kind of research a candy shop needed but it didn’t really matter at this point. He had found his submissive.

The raven haired submissive nodded vigorously and grabbed his hand. She quickly made her way to the back of the store, dragging a willing Ethan behind her. They entered a brightly colored room that looked to be a blend between a commercial kitchen and potions lab where there were various items in stages of completion. Zinnia paid the room no mind, continuing through the room and led Ethan to a door in the back that turned out to be an office.

Zinnia went over to a brown leather couch in the corner and sat down with Ethan. She turned and gave him a nervous smile and said, “So I am opening this candy shop and one of the items I want to carry is a spinoff of a sweet carried on my home realm.” She stuck out a hand and summoned a golden pentagon shaped box and handed it to him. It read “Chocolate Frog” on it in looping golden letters. He looked at her questioningly and she giggled, “Open it and then I will explain.”

He opened the box and much to his shock a brown frog jumped out onto his lap. He looked up at Zinnia in panic and she quickly grabbed the frog as it tried to escape.

”What?…Why?…”Ethan was so confused. Zinnia smiled brightly and gestured to the box still in his lap. He looked down and saw a card that the frog had been sitting on. He picked it up and examined the moving portrait of someone named Hengist of Woodcroft on it. He flipped it over and on the back was a short biography about the wizard. Curious. Zinnia spoke with excitement, “On Earth or Terra as you would call it, people collected these cards. Some were rare or no longer in print. As a child it was always fun to collect the cards and well I learned a lot of history that way, believe it or not.”

When Ethan looked up to listen to Zinnia, she was blushing and holding out a hexagon shaped box that had each element represented on the top with the words, “Chocolate Nytura” printed across it. He smiled in elation, he was beginning to see where this was going. Ethan opened the box more slowly this time and he watched as a cute little chocolate nytura fly out of the box.

Before he could speak, Zinnia continued nervously as she rang her hands. “Hermione and I are not native to Neverah, obviously, and we wanted to find someone who could help us compile a list of dragels for the cards. They can be historical and current figures like the blood titles and rulers or people who made major or interesting contributions to the realm. What do you think?” She looked so hopeful, Ethan wanted to hug her.

”I think you're amazing.” Ethan blurted out and redden, that wasn’t what he wanted to say. “And so is this idea, I’d love to help.”

Zinnia jumped off the sofa in her joy and nearly shouted, “Really!?! Great. Let me get an employment contract and we can get started.”

Ethan thought to protest, he would do this for his submissive for free but quickly shut his mouth at the stubborn look in her eyes. When he didn’t object, she beamed and rushed over to her desk, “After that, you can take me out to lunch and we can get to know each other, lovely pareya.”

He nodded in agreement, not speaking. His future submissive was a force of nature and he was a smart dragel. It would be best to listen and obey, he was sure.

Chapter 5: Percy Jackson

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Percy beamed up at the eye-catching edifice of a brand new store in Neverah and nearly ran inside. He had a wonderful feeling about this. The candy store was a neon blue after all! Upon entering the building he made his way through the crowds of people and began browsing the items they had on offer. He finally saw a sign that said “Storm.” It was crackling with lighting and had little rain clouds floating in the air. He hurried over and couldn’t help but pounce at all the various merchandise.

He started by examining a small bright blue package that said Blue-Aways. At the bottom it read Get Swept Off Your Feet. He smiled and grabbed five. There were so many things to look at he started to grab one of each and with every item he found he got more and more excited.

Lightning Licorice: Light Up the Sky with Each Whip

Cyclone ChaChas: Turn a Different Color with Each Spin

Hail Humbugs: Get Pelted with Each Chew

Cloudy Cotton Candy: A Cloud for Every Occasion

Hurricane Hotties: Spice Up Your Day with a Hurricane

Gale Glazed Gummies: Blow Colorful Wind with Every Breath

It was all so amazing and well, a little crazy, but Percy liked crazy a little too much. He finished in the storm section and looked down at his basket to find it overflowing. With a comically forlorn sigh, Percy decided he would need to come back to examine all the other elements later.

He made his way to the line at the register and saw a petite submissive behind the counter. She was writing in a ledger while a blond rang people up. When he made it to the front, he sat his basket down with a thump, making her look up and smile at his purchases. Percy couldn’t help but melt. She was adorable with her little button nose and bubbly bright magic.

The blond behind the register was grinning widely at him but remained silent. The submissive finally spoke up and said, “Did you find everything you were looking for today?”

He grinned and she started to blush, making him want to preen. “I have now.” Airy giggling made him break off his staring at the black haired beauty to find the light fae laughing. “Hello Percy.”

Percy was confused and gave the blond a questioning look, “Do I know you, miss?”

The fae smiled widely and her eyes went unfocused, “Of course not. We just met.” She pointed to the girl next to her and asked, “Have you met our submissive yet?”

A whine from the said submissive made Percy whip his head in her direction. She was hiding her face in her hands. She whined, “Luna, stop telling people about being in our future circle. It’s so awkward.”

Percy smiled slowly and looked at the two for a moment. The submissive was peaking through her fingers at him, still red with embarrassment but the fae was just smiling softly. “Seer?”

The submissive sighed and lowered her hands to the counter, giving him a tentative smile, “Yes, Luna is. I’m Zinnia Potter. It’s lovely to meet you.”

Percy smiled wider, this was going to be wild, but fun, he was sure.

Chapter 6: Marcus Flint

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Marcus Flint looked down at the package covered in quills with no small amount of confusion. No one in Neverah wrote with quills anymore. He slowly unwrapped the box and what he found inside only added to his bewilderment. Nestled on a red velvet pillow were a selection of sugar quills. His favorite. Though it had been a little over a decade since he had seen the candies. Or this particular handwriting. He picked up a favor token and wondered why Luna Lovegood was in Neverah of all places, instead of the fae realm or on earth. Well and sending him a favor token of all people. He opened the note with his name on it and read.

Alpha,

Sugar Quills for my dear friend. It has been too long since our last meeting. You must be infested with magenta chronomites. Come visit anytime at 534 Otium Ave, Neverah.

XOXO,

Companion Luna Lovegood

The next day Marcus was still shaking his head as he headed down Otium Avenue, thinking of the quirky fae.

During his last year at Hogwarts, the school hosted the Triwizard Tournament. He had come back that year in hopes of winning the quidditch cup for Slytherin only for the league to be cancelled. When Zinnia Potter was selected as the fourth champion he knew right away that she had not entered herself. Marcus had been appalled that they made the tiny girl compete and was horrified by the school’s treatment of her. He decided he would spend the rest of his final year protecting Zinnia from the various bullies in all the houses.

He did not want to repeat what he did in sixth year with the dementors. The Weasley twins took him aside after that match and “explained” with painful precision why setting a fake dementor on their ZiZi was a hurtful and hateful idea. After he had reverted back into his body, Marcus had been so deeply ashamed by his actions and did his best to improve. He made sure to apologize to Zinnia sincerely and learn to act like the adult and alpha he was.

Zinnia ended up spending a lot of time with him in the library during that final year. Few would bother him with his reputation and as the tournament continued, he found his table becoming crowded with others who needed his protection. Most often Lovegood and Granger.

When Zinnia returned from the final task, telling everyone that the Dark Lord had returned, Marcus was ready to get very far away. He wanted nothing to do with the mess that was Wixen Britain. His mera was preparing to send him to Neverah, where her submissive’s circle was, when Adrian Pucey showed up on their doorstep. His best friend had unexpectedly inherited as a dragel, much to his parent’s shock and disgust. When he refused to suppress it, his parents promptly disowned him. The two friends quickly left Earth before the summer was over and had never returned.

Neverah had been a wonderful home to them. His mera’s submissive and her circle had been great in their own unique way. He was even able to find some family related to his aquakin sire and his third parent who both died before he was born.

He also furthered his education in Neverah, completing his runes mastery four years ago. His unusual elemental affinities in both shadow and water have made him a sought after master, even with his youth and little experience.

The only downside to his life in Neverah so far was his complete failure during the last hunt in finding the right submissive. It became very clear that he would be looking for one of the rare nameless submissives relatively soon into his search. The shadow and aquakin submissives never quite felt right, plus he had a storm beta he dearly wished to bond with already. They were both keeping an eye out for just the right fit for the two of them, yet Marcus worried that it might be an impossible task.

As he came to a stop, Marcus was completely surprised when he found himself standing outside the address Luna gave him. The store fronts made him both excited and exasperated. Zinnia’s on the right brought a smile to his usually grim features. Knowing that Zinnia Potter was far far away from the wixen world made him very happy for her. She had been used and abused by Britain during the time he was on Terra far too often. A sanctuary realm was just what she needed. The sign to the left made him want to roll his eyes and pray to Arielle that he would continue to live in peace once the Weasley twins knew he was here on Neverah. Weasley Wheezes indeed.

He took a deep breath, ran a hand through his navy-black hair and headed in the store with his usual stoic mask in place. No need to let the twins think he was an easy target. The entrance had signs directing customers to the right and left depending on whether you were shopping for pranks or sweets. He quickly headed towards Zinnia’s when he saw Potter stocking a shelf near the entrance.

He tried not to ogle her as he stood in the doorway. Zinnia had matured a great deal since he last saw her. Though she hadn’t gotten much taller, much to his inward amusement, but she had developed some delightful curves. She also looked more relaxed and peaceful than he ever remembered seeing her. When Marcus realized that he was standing there leering at her like a creep, he quickly straightened his posture and bellowed, “Potter!”

Zinnia’s head jerked up in shock and then a bright smile spread across her face when she saw who had just entered her shop. Her joy at seeing him made him want to preen. He nearly melted in bliss when Zinnia quickly ran over and wrapped him in a hug. He took a deep breath and nearly reeled back in shock. Potter was a submissive dragel!  And when her magic melded seamlessly with his own he tried hard not to pick her up and cart Zinnia off. Surely this was not possible, Potter of all people was a potential soul bond.

Zinnia started talking as he tried to comprehend what was happening, “Marcus Flint! Have you been in Neverah all this time? I’ve been so worried about you! I thought Voldemort had killed you, you jerk.” The smile on her face made him think she was more happy than mad to see him.

He gave her a squeeze of reassurance and replied, “My mera brought me here after I graduated with Adrian Pucey to get us away from the war.”

”Pucey is here too?” Zinnia left out a sigh of relief, “A lot of people were wondering why he never returned for his sixth year. When his little sister told everyone that he was disowned…well you know how people can be.” She scrunched her nose up in disgust. Goodness, she was adorable.

Marcus rubbed the back of his neck in discomfort, he didn’t want to talk about Adrian’s private business, so he changed the subject. “When did you arrive in Neverah? What happened on Earth?”

Zinnia waved her hand in dismissal, “Voldemort and Dumbledore are dead. Enough said. We have been here for nearly two years now. What brought you in today?”

Marcus looked down at the submissive and bluntly said, “Luna”

Zinnia stopped and cocked her head at Marcus. She seemed to be evaluating something and then smiled brightly at him. “I see. Well, my future alpha, allow me to give you a tour of my little shop.” And the minx turned on her heel and headed deeper into the store. Marcus could only follow fondly in her wake.

Next Chapter Adrian

Chapter 7: Adrian Pucey

Notes:

Two chapters today!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Adrian stood in front of Zinnia’s with his hands on his hips and a small grin on his face. He had just finished working on his new arithmantic fabrine model for Lord Aiden today and was finally ready to see what all the fuss was about.

Marcus had told him last week that he found a submissive, but when he explained that it was Zinnia Potter, of all people, it took him a moment or two to truly believe him.  Really, it was hard to believe that they would find the right submissive with affinities for both shadow and storm and it ends up being Zinnia Potter of all people.

He walked into the store and marveled at the various displays. Eventually he found himself stopping at the air section with a smile. Little multicolored swirls that mimicked wind twirled around the sign. Adrian examined all the various candies with glee and grabbed the first item to catch his eye, it had a balloon the shape of a person’s head. It read Airheads: Become a Balloon with Each Bite!  Adrian shook his head in amazement and continued to look around.

Sky Suctions: Walk on the Ceiling

Whirly Windups: Take a Spin in the Wind

Marshmallow Clouds: Your Own Personal Cloud

Feather Fudge: Become as Light as a Feather

Zephyr Zabala: Caramelos to Quicken Each Step

He chuckled under his breath. So much chaos. Someone cleared their throat, causing Adrian to whirl around. He gave the submissive he was looking for a charming smile and exclaimed, “Potter! It’s lovely to see you!”

She raised an eyebrow, completely unimpressed. In a dry tone, she asked, “Is it now? The last time I spoke to you, you were wearing a Potter Stinks badge.”

Fuck. He forgot about that. He sighed and gave her a sad expression, “I’m sorry. I was a stupid kid. My parents were Death Eaters and I was required to toe the line with them. When I inherited my parents disowned me and I was free to be whoever I wanted to be.” She nodded in understanding.

He pouted and asked in a pleading tone, “Start over?” Then he gave a theatrical bow, “Good afternoon, Adrian Pucey, storm beta, at your service. I happen to be looking for a green eyed nameless submissive. She stole my alpha’s heart and I need to find it, though I’m willing to share.”

Potter smiled as he took her hand and brought it up to his lips for a light kiss. “Hello, Zinnia Potter, green eyed nameless submissive. I’ve been looking for an accountant and beta. You don’t know any by chance?”

Adrian smiled, ready to see where this would go.

Chapter 8: Quinn Kalzik

This is the second chapter posted today! FYI

Chapter Text

Quinn rolled his eyes at his brother, Kyle, as they made their way into a store that had become all the rage in Neverah. He had no idea why he let the green haired fae drag him into a sweets shop of all places. With his strict healer’s diet he rarely got to indulge in candy.

Kyle darted off while Quinn slowly wandered through the various displays. He couldn’t help but appreciate the ingenuity of many of the items despite all the sugar.

A sweet voice behind him spoke, breaking him out of his absentminded browsing, “May I help you find anything, sir?”

Quinn turned to find a bright eyed petite submissive smiling at him. He quickly wrote in the air, No, thank you. I’m just waiting for my brother to make his purchases.

Her smile widened, making him a little nervous. She spoke with a pleading tone,  “Alright, but may I show you our latest creation before you go? I developed them as a courting gift for my princess. Your input would be helpful,” her green eyes went big as she added, “…please.”

Quinn gave her an indulgent look, not sure what he could possibly contribute. I guess. I don’t eat sweets often though. I’m a healer.

She only beamed and she clapped her hands in excitement, making him smile at her happiness. “That’s great. I will give you a demonstration and then show you our healers line I’ve been working on. I’ve been meaning to find a healer and here you are. I’m so glad you came in today.”

He felt a blush sweep over his cheeks as the raven haired dragel made her way to the counter and grabbed several items from underneath, then gestured him over to her. She held up a green package that said Scribble Nibbles. Inside were a rainbow assortment of soft candies. He watched as she opened the package and plucked out a blue one. She gave him a look of mischief, winked, and said, “Observe.” Then popped the candy in her mouth and then writing in the blue of the candy appeared above her head.

My name is Zinnia by the way. Would you like to see the healers line now?

Quinn stood gaping at the writing and the grin on the woman’s face. That was amazing. It would be wonderful not to have to concentrate magic on a writing spell. He gave her a look of awe and wrote, Can I try one?

Zinnia smiled and nodded. Just direct your words you want to speak outwards. Like exhaling. He chose a green piece and began to chew, it was lime, his favorite. This is amazing. Thank you for showing me.

She laughed out loud, “No problem. Here is the rest of the package. Let me know if you can see room for improvement. Now let me show you the rest.”

Quinn watched in fascination as Zinnia showed him all the various healer candies she had across the table. There were Gummy Element Vitamin Boosters, Pepper Up Imps, Sweet Dreamsicles for a peaceful sleep, and so much more. Zinnia was talking about “…Blood Pops only have blood replenishing potion in them right now but I want to work with healers to make some with their blood to give to their patients…”

He had no idea what came over him at that moment and for years to come both his family and circle would tease him endlessly about the day he met his submissive. He interrupted her and just blurted out, Can I take you out for dinner? You’re wonderful.

He felt his face redden in mortification as Zinnia trailed off and looked over at the writing. Her green eyes sparkled with magic and she blushed as she replied, “That would be a pleasure.”

Chapter Text

Hadrian stood outside Zinnia’s with little expression decked out in his full armor, but inside he wondered with no small amount of confusion why Lady Death’s Hallows are inside a candy store of all places. Seeing the veil of magic that coated the doorway, Hadrian prepared himself as he made his way inside. The magical film that coated him, dimmed the lighting and warmed the air. It was very nice. Unconsciously, his shoulders relaxed as he looked around the shop.

Hadrian saw grey and black shadows dance around a sign labeled “Shadow” and began to peruse what they had on offer, despite his current mission.

Gloom Gumdrops: Turn Your Shadow Colors

Shade Os: Create Shadow Rings with Every Breath

Twilight Toffee: Multiply the Shadows

Murky Marzipan: Darken a Room with just one Bite

Dusk Divinity: Divine the World in Black and White

Hadrian was then drawn to the all too familiar symbol of the Blood Raven and raised an eyebrow curiously. He picked up the black package that read: Raven Razzles: Be a different colored shadow raven with each bite. Inside the package were raven shaped candies in all the colors of the rainbow. He snorted under his breath, thinking this was absolutely ridiculous. He was sure none of this actually worked. He placed the item back on the shelf only to see a small child with an older one holding their hand grab it moments later.

The older one gave him a respectful nod and turned to the child, “Mera said you could only eat these with her supervision. Last time when it wore off you were on the roof.”

The tiny child giggled and bounced with excitement, “But it was so much fun!” Hadrian watched as the two younglings walked away, disbelieving.

As he looked at the shadow items once more, out of the corner of his eye he saw the sign for the next section with shock. The wall was painted in black that seemed to ripple eerily and the letters were made from bones. It read “Death.” In a stupor, Hadrian made his way over and began to browse the selection.

Black Breath Bubblegum: Turn It Black

Ghost Gummies: Become a Ghost for One Minute

La Petite Morts: It’s Always a Pleasure

Hadrian’s mouth opened in shock. What…what was this place? The ace jumped and nearly drew his weapon when a throat cleared behind him. He spun around to a petite submissive with glowing green eyes, smiling at him with mischief. “Welcome to Zinnia’s. May I help you find something today?”

The Blood Raven straightened with her question, suddenly remembering why he was here in the first place. He looked at the device on his wrist and quickly examined the beautiful submissive in front of him. Her? Really? He must have taken too long because she cleared her throat once more, giving him a concerned expression, and asked, “Is there a problem, sir?”

Hadrian could feel his cheeks burn and hoped his mask hid his embarrassment. When has a submissive ever made him blush?!? He stood once more at attention and said with as much menace as he could muster to hide his fluster, “I am here on behalf of Lady Death.”

Before he could continue the woman’s easy smile and worry evaporated, She glared harshly at him and she bit out with venom, “Finally! What took you assholes so long?”

Hadrian, too shocked by the woman’s words, just asked confusedly, “I’m sorry, what?”

The submissive rolled her eyes at him, “I have been in Neverah for nearly three years now and have asked for an audience with Lady Death every single month.”

Dread ran down his spine, “Oh, and why is that??” He really hoped this pretty little thing wasn’t trying to become the “Mistress of Death”.

She raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms, “That is between me and Lady Death.”

He wanted to growl, but he had better control than that. He just raised an eyebrow and asked, “Do you have all the Hallows?”

She gave them a deadpan look and ignored his question, “Shall we go?”

Hadrian had no idea what to say, so he just nodded. He thought this was going to be a difficult task but if the silly submissive wanted to piss off Death it wasn’t his problem. Really, it wasn’t. He wasn’t worried about the tiny sub at all.

She turned to the Death display and grabbed one of each of the candies, then made her way over to the counter. Hadrian followed as she placed the items in a black decorative box with skeletons dancing all over it.

Once done, she looked up to Hadrian and said, “Let me get someone to cover the shop while I’m gone.” She made her way to the back door next to a window where customers could watch the candy being made. Several little kids were smashed up against the glass watching the employees as the submissive walked past.

She stuck her head through the door and shouted, “Luna! Florence! Got to go have a quick chat with someone. Will you watch the front, please?”

An airy voice replied, “Of course, Zinnia. Make sure to give the Lady a selection from her line!” Hadrian looked at the submissive in surprise, so this madness was her idea?

Zinnia chuckled, “Got it.” Holding up the box as proof, as a light fae and gheyo stepped through the door. The gheyo looked at him up and down with a smirk, then turned back to Zinnia. The submissive started laughing uncontrollably. She then hugged the gheyo tightly and kissed the gheyo deeply on the mouth.

“Florence, I don’t know if Blood Raven is into that. Baby steps, remember.” The gheyo gave Hadrian a wink and pushed the submissive towards the door where he was waiting. He hid his confusion and slight arousal as he followed Zinnia out the building.

=====

Hadrian made his way to Lord Aiden in the Death Court with the silent submissive at his side, who was busy looking around with nonchalance. He was starting to wonder if she was as unconcerned as she seemed.

Aiden looked curious as they reached his throne. “Have you found the Hallows so quickly?”

Before he could answer, the petite dragel stepped up in front of Hadrian with her hands on her hips and said, “I would like to know why my monthly requests for an audience with Lady Death have gone ignored for the last three years?”

Aiden glared at the submissive and growled, “Zinnia Potter?”

She raised her chin, not breaking eye contact, “Yes.”

Aiden’s glare hardened, “The request only said you wished to give a gift to Lady Death. Why would I entertain such a ridiculous request?”

The chill that flooded the room made Aiden and Hadrian kneel before the submissive could respond. “My Lady,” they said in unison. Hadrian out of the corner of his eye saw Zinnia stand there just smiling at Death. What was she doing? Was she crazy? “Hello, Lady Death.”

Lady Death looked at Aiden and Hadrian briefly, “Rise.” But then made her way to the submissive standing toe to toe with her. She spoke with dark promise, “Ahh, Zinnia Potter. I haven’t seen you for quite some time. You know I don’t think I’ve seen you in three years?  That has to be a new record. Neverah must be positively dull and you have come to visit. Have you missed me?”

Zinnia giggled, “Of course I have, but I need to work on living for a while.”

Much to Hadrian’s surprise and confusion, his Lady gave the submissive a coy look and crooned, “What an odd state of being for you, no? Now, I hear that my hound dislikes gifts, but I’m quite fond.”

Zinnia pulled out of a veil space a black wooden box the size of a large book from a void stone. She then opened it and offered the box to death. “Your Hallows, Lady Death and the skulls of the last two souls to abuse their power.”

Lady Death took the box with glee, while Zinnia made her way to Hadrian’s side and he saw as death took out the wand. It disappeared into Lady Death’s cloak and she did the same with the stone. She touched the skulls and spoke, “Ah, Tom Marvolo Riddle and Albus Dumbledore. I’m honored. Those two caused all sorts of problems for you, did they not Zinnia?”

The submissive had the audacity to snort in Lady Death’s presence, causing the deity to chuckle in return. The skulls disappeared and Death pulled out the cloak for examination. “Hmmm, I am surprised you returned this so easily. I can tell you spent many years surrounded in its folds. Your magic still clings to it.”

Zinnia gave the cloak a wistful smile, “For the longest time the only thing I knew about the cloak was that it had been my father’s. It was the only piece of him I had and I clung to it fiercely in turn.”

Death turned and the cloak disappeared, “You have done me a great service, Zinnia Potter, and have always shown me great respect. I offer you a boon.”

Zinnia tapped her chin, pulled the box of candy from her store out of her void storage, and offered it to Lady Death. “Will you take these sweets and tell me what you think? I don’t want to offend you by offering treats that you might not like at my store and having your approval would be a great selling point.”

Hadrian stared in disbelief and could feel Aiden’s shock from his chair.

Lady Death threw her head back and cackled, “Zinnia, I shall do just that. Have you thought about joining my court? Aiden could use someone like you around to shake things up a bit.” Throwing Aiden a wicked look, making the hellhound freeze.

Zinnia gave her an apologetic look, “Lady Death, I would not have the time to devote to the court as one should. I’m still hunting my circle and have my shop to run. Plus I want to have lots of babies. Maybe I can find a reaper to add to my circle and he could bring me along now and then.” The cheeky little submissive had the fearlessness to wink at him. He didn’t know whether to glare or wink back so he just stood there like an idiot.

“Ah Childe, you have always been a delight. I think maybe you should find yourself an ace next. I happen to know one that is a reaper. Let me know if you need an introduction.” She turned to Hadrian with a large smile, then switched her gaze to Aiden. She scowled fiercely at the hound and hissed, “Next time someone tries to contact you continuously over the course of three years maybe you should listen to them.”  And she was gone with the box of sweets.

The submissive then turned to Aiden and suddenly she released her magic, filling the room with its power. Her power was breathtaking. It was at home here in the death court but Hadrian knew it would be just as breathtaking anywhere. She glared at the Lord of Death’s court and said in a sarcastic voice, “Thank you so much for allowing me to finally meet with Lady Death. Your hospitality will be recommended far and wide.” Then she turned to beam at Hadrian and purred, “I look forward to seeing you soon, Blood Raven. It was a pleasure.” Without looking back she waltzed right out of the room, leaving an irritated hound and flustered reaper in her wake.

=====

The next day Hadrian found a blood red package with little ravens flying all around it on his desk. The top was closed with a Zinnia’s sticker and a favor card.

Hadrian would deny it to his dying breath but he smiled down at the box with some excitement. One, he had wanted to buy some of the candy, only to test it you understand, but would never be caught doing such a thing. Two, well, the submissive intrigued him. Don’t judge.

He saw a small assortment of the items from the death and shadow sections and in the bottom was a box with ribbon covered in all the Blood Titles’ crests.

Raising an eyebrow in curiosity he pulled the ribbon and examined the box's contents. First were the Raven Razzles he had seen in the store, he smiled and set them to the side. As he saw the rest he realized each item was a nod to each of the blood titles.

Wraith Warheads: Multicolor Cracks in the Earth with Each Step

Flame Fireballs: Blow Colorful Fireballs

Raine Drops: Cause Rainfall in Every Color

Tide Taffy: Bring on the Crimson Waves

Whisper Wafers: Take a Walk Up into the Sky

He finally looked at the note and smiled at the submissive’s cheek.

Dear Hadrian,

Please consider and let me know what you think. A courtship and candies both.

Next Chapter Wikhn

Chapter 10: Wikhn

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Wikhn slowly walked towards the candy store Hadrian told him about with curiosity. He was wondering how a submissive who owned a candy store of all things would appeal to someone like his ace. Though they had yet to bond, he made sure often to remind the Ace who he belonged to. Hadrian was his and he needed to know if he would be able to tolerate this submissive or not before this flirtation went any further. He would not be going through any kind of drama like he had with Dahlia ever again.

It started a couple weeks ago when Hadrian had started acting oddly. He was receiving candy favors with little notes from a popular sweet shop that had been open on Neverah for the last year or so. He thought it rather odd to send sweets as a declaration of interest to a gheyo, so he quickly badgered an answer out of a flustered Hadrian. Apparently the submissive owned the shop. Wikhn couldn’t help but wrinkle his nose at first. Sweets? He hated sweets!

When Hadrian got around to explaining their meeting at Death’s Court in detail he couldn’t help but be as impressed and shocked as his ace. That submissive was crazy. Now he needed to see if it was the good kind of crazy.

He opened the door and a swarm of kids ran out the door laughing. He hid a smile and made his way in to “browse.” He had only gotten to the first display of candies and picked up a random item so he could covertly look around for the submissive when he saw a tiny little kitten walking towards him with a bright smile on her face.

“Hello, welcome to Zinnia’s. Can I help you with anything today?” The woman was blushing and Wikhn did his best not to preen at her admiration.

Not sure what to say just yet, Wikhn thrust the package he was holding at the woman and said, “What is this exactly?”

She raised an eyebrow at the package and gave him a wicked grin, “Fire Fudge. It warms the body as you eat it and lasts for one hour. Great alternative to a warming charm.”

Wikhn gave her a filthy grin in return and purred under his breath, “That sounds rather nice. Will you show me what else you have to offer that I might be interested in?”

She giggled and offered him a nod, “I can do that. My name is Zinnia Potter by the way.” So this was the submissive. Interesting.

He gave her a curt nod and replied, “Wikhn.”

She started to show him around the fire section and he couldn’t help but be impressed. Candy might not be something he enjoyed but he could see the use, fun and creativity that went into every item.

Lava Licorice Whips: Fire on a Leash

Burning Breath Mints: Hands on Fire

Iced Inferno Imps: Hellfire with Every Step

Sugar Sparklers: Fireworks Exploding from Your Ears with Each Bite

Bazooka Blasts: Shots of Fire with Every Clap

They were headed towards the air section when the submissive stopped suddenly and gave him a once over. Then nearly shouted in her distress, “I’m sorry! You’re part dark fae aren’t you. I’m such an idiot sometimes.” Without asking she grabbed his hand and headed in the other direction.

Wikhn raised an eyebrow and allowed Zinnia to drag him along. He tried not to laugh as she mumbled under her breath about how stupid she was. “No wonder he found little interest in the sweets.”

He felt like he needed to reassure the submissive, so he answered her little mutterings, “Oh, it's all very interesting. I enjoyed your presentation, kitten.”

She huffed in mock outrage, “You would never buy any of it. I’m running a business here!”

Wikhn laughed at her silliness in surprise and looked at the section she brought him to. The threatening looking sign read “Not So Sweet, Are You?” Below were a wide selection of items.

The Black Bar of Chocolate(95% Cocoa)

Pepper Pops: Some like it Hot

Sour Suckers: Pucker Up

Herb-o-Bons: Garden Fresh Bites

There was a wide selection of nuts on offer as well. Such as Walnut Waffle, Hazel Handles, Cashew Clusters, and Pecan Pocky. Wikhn even saw some items he enjoyed from the fae realms on display.

As he listened to Zinnia describe how every item was made with no sweetness in mind and watched her wave her hands in excitement, he understood what Hadrian liked about her so much. She had spunk.

He listened to her as she was explaining their current work on a new pistachio “candy” and decided to interrupt in his usual style. Bluntly and with no tact, he informed Zinnia, “I’m Hadrian Maruke’s king.”

Zinnia’s eyes went wide at his statement and then she grinned widely at him. “Are you now?” She came closer to him, to the point they were standing toe to toe. She whipped out a favor card and placed it in his breastplate, patting his chest in the process.

“Will you be fighting in the upcoming exhibition like Hadrian?” she peaked up at him through her eyelashes.

Wikhn looked at her with skepticism and ignored her question. “I’m half dark fae, kitten.”

She gave him a droll look and answered, ”I noticed.”

”I’m very picky, you know.”

“Discerning, excellent.”

Wikhn rolled his eyes and said, “I expect to be courted just as well as Hadrian.”

Zinnia gave him a look of seriousness and replied, “Of course you do. I have known Hadrian long enough now to know that whoever his king is, is exceptional. Exceptional kings need their own wooing, you know.”

Wikhn tried hard not to blush and preen at her words, but couldn’t stop the purr he let vibrate in his chest.

Zinnia gave him a saucy wink and blew him a kiss, as another customer asked for her assistance. “I’ll be seeing you, king. Make sure to let me know when you will be fighting. I wouldn’t want to miss it.”

Next Chapter Devrim

Chapter 11: Devrim Ekene

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Devrim stood outside Zinnia’s with no small amount of desperation. He really hoped he found the right place. He quickly made his way through the door and was instantly at ease, which was extremely suspicious. He began to tense but he was quickly distracted by the gheyo, princess if he had it right, who was stocking merchandise by the door. She was in what looked to be a one sided conversation with a storm queen.

He listened in as the queen exclaimed, “But Flossie, my dear, I need some backup. Hadrian won’t let me compete without someone else supervising. Surely you can help me out? Yes? Yes! You are a goddess and my humble self shall bow at your feet. I pale in awe at your magnificence.” Devrim couldn’t help himself. He snorted. There was nothing humble about that queen. He was built like a mountain and was at least a head taller than Devrim, who was taller than the average dragel. His armor shone brightly and he was covered in merrow jewelry.

The storm queen’s head shot up to the doorway where Devrim still stood and was now flushed in embarrassment. The fellow gheyo smiled widely and Devrim understood how such a large dragel could whine so effectively. He was adorable in that kicked puppy way and that pout had been rather sweet. Suddenly the dragel was standing in front of him and bounced with joy, “Welcome to Zinnia’s. Do you need some help, cutie?”

Devrim flush became darker and he stood there unsure how to respond. Luckily, the princess hip-checked the exuberant queen, took a piece of rope candy from behind her ear and he watched as words started coming from the end, Percy, go bother the twins for a while. You don’t actually work here, sweetheart.  Percy, who seemed to be the queen in question, beamed and darted to the store on the other side of the entrance.

The gheyo turned back to Devrim with a soft smile, Sorry about him, my name is Florence. Can I help you with something today?

Devrim ducked his head and asked quietly, “Do you have Blood Pops?”

Florence smiled, We do. Follow me. She turned and headed deeper into the store. He followed her and out of habit took a deep breath, then froze. He knew that scent. It was her. He didn’t think he would ever see the submissive again. Devrim turned his head in the direction of her scent and there she was behind the register. She was busy talking to a part dark fae gheyo king as she added stock to a display behind the counter.

He stood there in the middle of the candy store in shock. He had told himself if he saw her again he would give her a favor or inter her service or something for her kindness she showed him when he was falling into bloodlust. He had just returned from off realm and was in desperate need of a feed and they had bumped into each other near the arrival terminal. She had taken one look into his eyes and whipped out a red lollipop. “Need a snack?” He remembers staring at her in disbelief, not taking the candy. In her impatience, she clucked at him and unwrapped the candy. With the first whiff of blood, he snatched it from her hand and stuck it in his mouth. The relief was instant and as she patted him on the shoulder. She gave him a soft smile and said, “Much better, yes?” He quickly closed his eyes in bliss as she walked away.

He was brought out of his memories when he felt someone at his shoulder. He looked over to see the princess was back at his side with a knowing smile on her face. Would you like me to introduce you to my submissive?

Devrim stared at Florence in thought and softly but with little hesitation, he asked, “Would she mind?”

She answered by grabbing his elbow and dragging him toward the two at the counter. Devrim looked up to see the part fae gheyo staring at the two of them with an evil smile on his face. “Kitten, your favorite prince has finally arrived.”

Devrim sputtered as the submissive whirled around and smiled at the sight of him. Him! “Hello! It’s wonderful to see you again!” She quickly rounded the counter and stood in front of Devrim with an excited light in her green green eyes.

“Hi, I’m Devrim Ekene.”

”My Prince.”

Next Chapter Riven

Chapter 12: Riven Cairothe

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Riven weaved through the crowds in the center market lost in thought. He had just left his check-in with Lady Dreswell and she had asked a personal favor of him. It was a rather strange request but he was always happy to help his ruler and friend. Well, this mission had little to do with his magic and more to do with the trust Bianca had in him, so he was happy to help. He currently had some time on his hands until he was to meet up with Raspen, so he thought he would get this task out of the way.

The mage looked up and found he was in the right location, but before he entered the building he was stopped by the curious magic shimmering over the doorway. He quickly sent out his magic to evaluate the veil saturating the entrance and was impressed by what he found. It seemed that each person who entered the store was given a personal environmental bubble for comfort. Fascinating. He had never seen anything like this.

He slowly walked through the doorway and felt the magic attach to him. Gradually the humidity grew and a small breeze was in the air around him. It was as if he had returned to the storm district. Suddenly excited by this little mission, Riven started browsing the contents of the two stores.

Starting in the joke shop and making his way to the candy store he became more and more interested in all the various uses of magic. Riven had been to countless realms and seen countless types of magic, but rarely had he seen so many different types used in unusual and creative ways. Creativity was something Riven respected a great deal. It was something he used constantly and had made him the renowned spellweaver he was today.

He stopped to look at the storm candy section and could help but laugh inwardly at some of the items on offer. He picked up a dark purple bag that read Storm-taculars. Apparently eating one would create a personal storm around you based on your mood. He snorted under his breath and wondered what a happy storm would look like. Next he found Thunder Taffy that made your words roll with thunder. Riven shook his head in disbelief, this place was brimming with chaos.

Looking at a candy called Sour Soakers between the storm and water section, Riven felt static rise on the back of his neck. Someone was watching him. He slowly looked up and made eye contact with a pair of stunning green eyes. The submissive had a smile on her face as she made her way in his direction. He could feel the woman’s magic as she approached and was surprised by how vast it was. Riven focused and found himself confused. Normally he could tell by a dragel’s magic what their primary element was, but this submissive was a mess of contradictions. Even nameless dragels had a leaning towards an element or two, but not this one. She was brimming with both life and death, fire and ice, deserts and oceans. Riven jumped when the woman spoke, he was so focused on her magic.

“Good morning, I’m Zinnia. Can I help you with anything?”

Riven felt something electric run down his spine and found himself lost for words. Why was he here again?

He gave a jerk of his head that might have passed for a greeting and growled out, “I’m fine, thank you.”

The submissive smile softened and she began to turn back towards the register, “Alright, please let me know if you have any questions.”

She was walking away and Riven suddenly remembered why he was here. Bianca wanted to know about the submissive her grandson had bonded to. Right. This must be her. He cleared his throat and said, “Actually, can you tell me about this?” He thrust the candy he was holding out at the girl.

He watched her return to his side with a grin on her face and began to explain the mechanics of the magic. Hours later he would receive a message from Raspen asking where he was, he got so lost in the submissive’s conversation about magical candy.

Chapter 13: Nyx

Notes:

Just saw the 20hr blackout announcement for AO3 and decided to post the rest of the story beforehand, so 6 chapters today. Start with Chapter 12!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Nyx quickly ducked into the Ivory Crow and searched the bar for Wikhn. He hadn’t seen his fellow fae in a while, having been off realm with an assignment for the last year. After a moment he saw him in a back corner relaxed, lounging back with a sucker in his mouth. Nyx hesitated for a moment, why did Wikhn have a sweet? He went to the bar and placed an order, watching the fae out of the corner of his eye.

The king looked completely relaxed as he waited, which was not a natural state for his prickly friend at all. Maybe he had finally bonded with Blood Raven? But still, what was with the sucker? A joker needed to know.

Nyx grabbed his drink and quickly made his way over to the corner. He unceremoniously plopped down across from Wikhn, making him jump. “What’s with the candy? Are you Wikhn’s angelic twin?”

Wikhn narrowed his eyes in irritation and sarcastically said, “Hello, Nyx. Long time, no see. I hope the mission went well.”

Rolling his eyes and waving a hand in dismissal, Nyx said, “Yes, yes, none of that is important.” He glared at the candy, “Since when did you like sweets?”

Wikhn huffed and curtly answered, “Asked to do a product testing for a friend.”

”You have friends besides me?” Nyx gave him a shocked look of betrayal.

“If you don’t shut up about the candy, I will have one less friend.”

Before Nyx could say anything in response, Wikhn whipped his head towards the doorway and began to stand. Worried, Nyx quickly turned and had a blade out, only to look in shocked confusion as Lady Mariana, Riker’s Bane, a hound, and another submissive entered the bar giggling.

Not sure what to do as the four headed to the bar, Nyx looked at Wikhn to see if he was alright. He was leaning against the booth with a goofy grin on his face. “What’s going on?” But Wikhn continued to ignore him and watched the submissive.

The three had drinks and turned around to find a table when the unknown submissive saw them. A radiant smile bloomed across her face and shouted, “Wikhn!” She handed her drink to the hound and ran over to his friend, who picked her up into his arms.

He purred in her ear, “Hello, kitten. Being naughty?” Her cheeks went pink and she laughed softly, “It’s submissives night. You know this.” Her eyes narrowed, “You aren’t following me around are you?”

”Now, I was here first, my submissive.” Wikhn responded. Shocked, Nyx interjected, “Since when did you have a submissive, my friend?” He smiled widely at the two, “Congratulations!”

The submissive in question noticed him for the first time and Nyx was absorbed by her green eyes overflowing with magic. “Hi! I’m Zinnia.”  Wikhn huffed and sat down into the booth with Zinnia in his lap.

Nyx gave her a wink, “I’m Nyx, lovely.”

She giggled, but was distracted by the sucker in Wikhn’s hand. She looked at the king with excitement and asked, “Do you like it?”

Wikhn gave her a soft smile and whispered in her ear, making her smile widen.

”ZiZi, get your cute butt over here. You can make out with your king later!” Lady Mariana growled across the room.

The submissive laughed and gave Wikhn a kiss on the cheek. Then she grabbed a sucker just like Wikhn’s from a void stone and handed it to Nyx. “It’s nice to meet you Nyx, but there is fun to be had elsewhere. Let me know what you think!” And with a wink she was gone.

Nyx watched her join the table of powerful submissives with curiosity and then picked up the candy. The wrapper said Zinnia’s and underneath it read, Peanut Butter Salt Lick. Nyx looked up at Wikhn in both amazement and humor. With laughter in his voice, he asked, “Did you bond with a submissive who makes candy?”

Wikhn rolled his eyes and said, “Wait until you get to know her and you will understand.”

And eventually Nyx did.

Chapter Text

Raspen stared at his long time friend and pseudo mentor with bemusement. The storm mage and spellweaver was staring off into the distance with a rare smile on his face. Raspen was sure that Riven had not heard anything he had just said. If he didn’t know better, Raspen would think his friend was in love.

Over the last year the mage had been on Neverah more than usual. Riven used to only return to the sanctuary realm for a new assignment or healing, otherwise he would be wandering the universe alone. Raspen had long grown accustomed to his constant worry and infrequent visits from Riven, but this slow change had him baffled. What had happened to his grumpy friend?

”Riven…are you listening to me?” Raspen asked with concern and watched the storm dragel jump in surprise, lightening sparkling at his feet. His violet eyes flashed and Raspen watched with humor as a slight blush dusted the man’s ears.

“Yes, yes. What were you saying, my prince?” Riven asked with some of his usual gruff.

Raspen rolled his eyes, “What has you so distracted, Riven?”

Riven opened his mouth to respond when a message orb appeared in front of him.

Incoming Message for Riven Cairothe from Zinnia Potter, do you accept?

The smile Riven made at the sound of the voice caused Raspen to lean forward in interest. Not seeing Raspen’s curiosity, Riven accepted the message orb.

The sweet female voice spoke, Riven, my dear, can we move back dinner tonight an hour? I’m covering for someone at the shop… oh and I made your favorite. Love you, bye.

Raspen’s eyes were wide by the end of the message. “Who was that?” Riven jerked his head in Raspen’s direction, eyes wide in shock. He quickly growled out, “Nobody.” He stood and in a fluster of what Raspen could tell was a mixture of both happiness and embarrassment said, “I have an appointment. I will see you later, your highness.” And he was gone in a flash of lightning, leaving Raspen overflowing with curiosity.

====

The prince of the earth element stood in disguise outside Zinnia’s with anticipation. When Riven had disappeared last week, Raspen quickly found one of his assistants and asked for information on a Zinnia Potter. He was shocked to see the beta instantly light up with excitement. Apparently the submissive was well known to everyone in the realm but him. Owning the premier sweet shop in Neverah that catered to all elements made Zinnia’s very popular. He learned from the file he was given that Zinnia Dorea Potter was a nameless submissive from Terra with ties to the Peverell, Evansons, and Monse Clans and had been living here in Neverah for years.

Today, Raspen had finally found some free time to investigate the submissive that his long time friend was probably courting. He walked across the threshold and felt some magic wrap around him. It felt as though he had just walked into the deep caves in the earth sector. Fascinating. Raspen looked around the store, but didn’t spot the submissive, so he decided to browse. Naturally he made his way to the earth display to see what was on offer.

The first item he saw was called Gravity Gum, which seemed to increase one’s gravitational pull. Raspen’s golden eyes widened. That would be an interesting experience. He continued to browse

Eclairs Stones: Turn it to Stone

Quicksand Caramels: Caution: You’ll sink!

Muddy Mint Chocolate: Make a Muddy Mess

He jumped when a voice hissed in his ear, “What are you doing here, Raspen?” He whirled around in shock and stammered, “I heard about this shop from one of my assistants and wanted to see what all the excitement was about.” Avoiding eye contact with Riven, Raspen asked, “What brings you here?”

Much to Raspen’s amusement, Riven pouted, “You figured it out, didn’t you?” He huffed and grabbed Raspen’s arm, “Come on, I might as well introduce you.”

Raspen followed Riven through a door that said “Employees Only,” past people making candy and into a large office where a beautiful raven hair submissive was reading through a stack of papers. She looked up and at the sight of Riven, smiled widely and stood. “Riven! You’re back.” She quickly rounded the desk and through her arms around the storm mage. Raspen watched his friend melt into the submissive’s embrace with a grin.

Riven, remembering his guest, blushed red and cleared his throat, “Hello, Zi. I’ve brought a friend of mine who would like to meet you.”

Raspen found bright green eyes focused on him and was lost for a moment in her eyes. He heard Riven stifle a laugh as he continued, “Zinnia, this is Raspen, a longtime friend of mine. Raspen, this is Zinnia Potter, my submissive.”

He watched those green green eyes for recognition and saw none, but at Riven’s words broke eye contact to gape at his friend, “You’re bonded! Why didn’t you tell me? Congratulations!” Raspen smiled widely and asked, “Does Maia know?”

Riven growled petulantly at the same time Zinnia began giggling, “Auntie Maia sent us a gift an hour after our bonding.”

Raspen raised an eyebrow, “Auntie?”

Riven answered with mild irritation, “One of Maia’s many nieces happens to be one of Zinnia’s gheyo.”

Raspen laughed in both surprise and humor. This submissive was full of surprises and as the afternoon carried on and he got to know Zinnia better, he began to understand how Riven fell in love too.

Chapter Text

Alec stomped down the street towards the coordinates he had been given. He was going to make Alcandor’s life an absolute misery after this latest indignity. Filet him, salt him and bake him in the sun.

Last night Krym and Al had returned from a royal’s meeting brimming with giddy excitement over the earth prince's bonding. And when the two dragged Killigan into their fevered excitement, Alec knew only drama would follow. But this? His kelp-brained cousin needed him to get some candy from a landwalker shop called Zinnia’s, of all things?

Glaring at the blue and orange edifice of the building, Alec made his way through the door. As soon as he passed through the threshold, he paused as foreign magic swept over him. Alec’s body relaxed as he was surrounded by his element. He looked down at his arm and could see the magic covering his skin. How curious.

He growled in surprise when someone spoke, “Welcome to Weasley’s Wheezes, can I help you with anything today?” said the flamehead in front of him. He was smiling and at ease.

Alec narrowed his eyes on the pareya, unsure why his instincts were not flaring with irritation, which only made his frustration increase. He looked away and realized he went into the wrong store in his distraction with the magic.

Ready to let out a truly scathing response, Alec snapped his mouth closed when an identical red head appeared on his other side and spoke. “Freddie, who’s your pretty friend?”

Deciding to ignore the two, Alec turned back towards the entrance. He didn’t have time for some defective fire types. He just needed to get the candy Killigan and Al wanted and leave. Quickly. He could hear footsteps behind him as he entered the candy shop.

“Brother, I think our overwhelming animal magnetism frightened the aquakin.”

”Indeed Forge, we should have been more subtle with our admiration.”

Alec growled under his breath and quickened his steps towards the water display, he could see drops of water dripping off the sign. Before he could begin looking, a throat cleared next to him. Alec looked up to see a petite submissive standing next to him, but she was glaring rather impressively at the fire pareyas. He watched as she pointed towards the door and spoke with a threatening tone, “Leave or I will call Marcus.”

The twins gave her matching pitiful looks and alternated as they spoke,  ”But” “ZiZi” “We” “just” “want to” “talk to” “the pretty” “pareya.”

The vibrant green eyes narrowed, “Now!” They fled and she turned to Alec with a bright smile.

”Ignore them. Now, Welcome to Zinnia’s. How can I help you today?”

Alec cocked his head to the side and snarked, “Two of everything in the water element.”

She smiled wider and nodded. She stuck out a hand and a blue box covered in waves zoomed from behind the counter. Alec watched as she turned to the display and started grabbing items.

Water Whoppers: Waves Whopping from Your Hands

Aqua All-Ways: Gain an Aquatic Form for One Hour

Jellyfish: String with Every Chew

Ripple Rings: Rings of Glowing Water with Each Step

Loch-jaws: Silence with Each Lick

Bubble Bonbons: Blow Multicolored Bubbles with Each Breath

The items were all very interesting but the submissive was even more so. Her magic somehow reminded Alec of the ocean depths. Deep and unending with a hint of danger around every corner. He nearly jumped when the submissive cleared her throat once more.

With a grin and laughter in her voice, the submissive spoke, “On the house. I’m Zinnia and the twins were right, you are very pretty.” He felt a purple blush seeping into his cheeks and it grew darker when she winked, “I hope to see you soon.”

As he left the building in a daze and portaled back to the palace, Alec was certain he would be returning. After all, that submissive was rather interesting and he needed to check on those defective fire pareyas as well.

Chapter Text

Standing on the threshold of the Flint’s door, Ginny quickly looked down at her gift with its slowly changing colored paper. Ugh. She was so nervous. Was she a Gryffindor or not? Without further delay she tapped the ward bell and waited. This was a long time coming and Ginny Weasley, fire submissive was ready for this next step in her life. Finally.

The last ten years since the war had been both a challenge and a joy. When they first arrived, Ginny had just left a year of gorilla warfare with the teachers in the castle and a final battle where she lost too many friends and family. She had been a mess and spent the following two years being smothered by the Prewetts. It had been exactly what she needed and when they finally removed her inheritance seals, she was ready to embrace becoming a dragel.

She wasn’t prepared to inherit as a submissive. At first she was excited. A circle of her own sounded wonderful and she was ready to learn everything about her rank. But by the time the hunt came around six years later, Ginny had lost a lot of her excitement. Every favor felt wrong, every alpha repulsed her, every beta bored her. Both her mera, grandmera, and mentor tried to help her but by the end of the hunt Ginny had found herself depressed and confused.

That’s when Luna and Zinnia arrived and changed her life for the better. She had dated both girls while at Hogwarts and had thought a future with either of them was gone now that she was a submissive, but the duo didn’t agree. So now, two years later, here she was.

The door opened and Ginny smiled at Marcus. “Good Evening, Marcus. Is Zinnia home?”

He gave her a knowing smile and stepped back to welcome her in. “She’s in her office with Luna talking about trade agreements with the fae realms but they will be ecstatic to see you.” Offering her an arm, Marcus squeezed her hand in support as they walked silently through the house, making her relax. Everyone knew why she was here and were just as excited. She had nothing to worry about.

Marcus reached to knock on the door, but it was yanked violently open. Before Ginny knew what was happening she had Luna in her arms. “You’re here! I’m so happy.”  The blond quickly grabbed the gift in her arms and shoved it at Zinnia who was standing next to Marcus in the doorway.

Luna smiled wildly at Zinnia and Ginny, “Open it! I saw this years ago and managed to keep it secret until now. Open it!” She squeezed Ginny’s hand and bounced on her toes. Everyone laughed. They knew Luna had a terrible habit of revealing new bonded and gifts alike.

Zinnia opened the box to find Ginny’s final courting gift. ZiZi Rings. It had taken Ginny awhile and Hermione’s help to come up with the idea, but they were finally complete.

The submissive smiled widely and gave Ginny an excited smile. “These look like Muggle Ring Pops from Terra.” She flipped it over to the back of the package and read out loud, “A lollipop ring that changes your hair color to match your mood. That’s awesome!” She quickly joined the hug and Ginny nearly cried with relief. She was home.

Chapter Text

Sunday dinner was circle dinner and everyone was having a wonderful evening. Fred sat back in his seat and looked around at his circle with contentment. Everyone was here. George was whispering with Alec and both were sporting wicked grins. Raspen, Riven, and Luna looked to be having an intense debate about some obscure fae artifact or creature, Fred wasn’t sure. Adrian, Percy, and Devrim looked to be laughing about something that happened at the annual storm meeting last week.

Florence had just returned with a picture that she was now showing to Ginny and Ethan, while Quinn and Zinnia had their heads together having a silent conversation. Hadrian and Marcus were watching the healer and their submissive with identical expressions of confusion. Fred was just as curious but he tried to relax.

Zinnia had told the circle a couple of months ago that she felt her instincts had finally settled with Ginny’s bond completed. Now he just wondered what would be next for their circle. As if she was reading his mind, Fred turned to Zinnia as she cleared her throat across the table. She had a rather wicked grin on her face as she stood and she quickly popped a sucker in her mouth as everyone quieted. Fred looked around and everyone looked as curious as him, well except Quinn, who was hiding a smile. Fred narrowed his eyes but quickly turned to ZiZi as she spoke.

”I have an announcement to make.” Her hair was turning a light blue as she pulled out a box from her void stone on her wrist. She waved the lollipop in her hand and pointed at the box as she continued, “This is a sample of a new candy that will be available next year and I would like each of you to give me some honest feedback.”

She looked over at Wikhn and Nyx with a pointed look, “Even if you hate sweets. This is very important and I would like each of you to have one.” Zinnia couldn’t contain her smile and laughed at the look on the dark fae’s faces. Quinn was now hiding his face in his hands and his shoulders shaking. Fred was confused, Quinn rarely contributed to Zinnia’s shop but he obviously knew what was going on.

Zinnia slowly opened the box and gave everyone a smile, as small boxes of candy landed in front of each member in their circle.

Fred picked his lollipop up and shouted in excitement. Everyone else did as well. George grabbed him and they bounced up and down. It was a gender reveal candy. They were going to have a baby.

Eight months later when Fleamont Arthur Weasley and Gerhart Ignatius Weasley were born he knew no greater joy. All was well.
