Work Text:
It’s been 9 days since Wednesday got the vision of Enid’s death.
The graveyard tauntingly stares back at her. The crows surround the grave, laughing at her. A single white rose lies on Enid’s grave, the one she placed for her.
Wednesday already knows what comes next. She has been having the same nightmare every night since the first vision.
She braces herself as hands tightly grasp her throat, choking her.
Wednesday stares at a crying and hurt Enid, her heart tightens.
Even though she tries to snap Enid out of it…it never works.
“I die because of you!” Enid stares at her with her hatred-filled eyes. Wednesday winces as the pain from her throat makes itself known.
With the little air she has, she musters up a few words.
”Enid…please.” Wednesday grips Enid’s hands around her throat, clawing them off, but it only strengthens Enid’s grip.
”Enid…” Wednesday mutters out, the darkness slowly swallowing her whole.
”Enid.” Wednesday gasps for air as she bolts up from her pillow.
Wednesday frantically looks around the room and is relieved to find that it isn’t the cemetery that holds her best friend's grave.
Her eyes land on Enid’s vacant bed; she must have already left for her morning werewolf workout class. She must admit, for the past few days, she has been trying her best to avoid Enid.
After the nightmare, she needed someone's guidance since her psychic abilities were stripped from her… she hopes not permanently. Anyways, she considered seeking Thing’s help, but knowing that traitorous appendage, he would most definitely scurry off and tell Enid everything. That is something she does not want to happen.
The main reason is that if Enid knew, she wouldn't be able to stand her constant anxiety of her impending doom, and the other reason is that she does not know what will happen if she were to tell Enid. For all she knows, her ability might play tricks on her and end up killing Enid sooner than anticipated for revealing the future. For now, she must keep it a secret and find out how to stop Enid’s death with the help of her invisible servant, Agnes.
She sighs into her hands, noticing tear marks running down her cheek. She quickly wipes them away and removes her blanket. She starts moving towards the bathroom sink and keeps the bathroom door slightly open.
Wednesday splashes water on her face and brings the black towel towards her face.
As she stares back at herself in the mirror, she can’t help but see the noticeable changes on her face from the lack of sleep. She looks paler than usual, her eye bags darker than they’ve ever been.
The nightmares have been making themselves well-known in Wednesday’s sleep schedule for a while. It’s gotten to the point that after day 4, she absolutely refuses to go back to sleep, but usually ends up accidentally falling asleep on her desk. She only returned to her bed late at night because Thing grew concerned and woke her up every time.
Wednesday was snapped out of her thoughts by the sound of someone opening their dorm door. She quickly set the towel down and closed the bathroom door shut.
She will absolutely not allow Enid to see her looking like a walking cadaver, although she would usually find it as a compliment, for some reason, she always wanted to appear her best in front of Enid…not looking like a corpse.
“Wednesday! Are you here?” Enid’s muffled voice came across the door.
Wednesday debated responding, but if she did, then she would have to leave the bathroom without any makeup. She must hide the eye bags.
“Wednesday?”
She quickly grabs her concealer and applies it.
” I'll be out in a second,” She says to lower suspicion that she’s hiding something.
“Alright, don't take long. We need to talk.”
Wednesday’s eye slightly widened. If only Enid could be oblivious and let things go. She tries to stay in the bathroom as long as possible, hoping Enid would get bored and leave.
After half an hour, Wednesday didn't hear any noise and exited the bathroom.
She was now face-to-face with Enid, who was sitting on her obnoxiously pink bed with her arms crossed.
“Why did you take 34 minutes in the bathroom? I know you didn't take a dump because I didn’t hear the toilet flush.” Enid says while glaring at her.
Like she said before…why can't Enid just let things go?
Wednesday stays silent as she stands nearly frozen in the middle of their room. As if she got caught in the middle of a murder crime scene
Enid’s eyes soften. “Seriously, Wednesday, are you fine. God, I have seen you stay awake till 4 am. Also, when I go to use the bathroom at night, you're knocked out on your desk.”
Wednesday reminds herself of her hardened emotional armour and replies.
“Sleep is for the weak; I thrive on sleep deprivation.”
“You aren't thriving… you're barely surviving. Don't think I haven't noticed those dark eye bags. That doesn't even touch the surface of everything I've noticed different about you.” Enid rambles as she stands up, walking towards Wednesday
Wednesday remains still, never breaking eye contact with Enid. She must not notice any sort of weakness.
“I've noticed your puffy eyes, I noticed that you're slouching more than usual, and I also noticed the number of times you’ve said my name during your sleep. God, Wednesday, I noticed that you've also been avoiding me for the past few days, so tell me… what's wrong?” Enid waits for Wednesday to answer, but was met with silence.
Enid reaches to grasp Wednesday’s shoulders, but Wednesday quickly steps back, a look of hurt flashes across Enid’s face.
Enid takes back her hands, putting them behind her back. “Is this about how we left things off last year when I transformed?” Enid stares at the ground with shame.
Wednesday sighs and finally responds, breaking eye contact. “No, Enid, I-”
“If it is, then I'm sorry. I can't help who my wolf chooses as their mate. I don't want this to be awkward between us. I hoped we could have ignored it, but if it makes you uncomfortable, I can change rooms and move in wi-”
“No. You do not need to move anywhere. And no, I'm not uncomfortable about your werewolf traditions, I've accepted it the moment you saved my life.”
“Then what is it?” Enid pleads
“I can't disclose that information to you.”
Enid scoffs and faces away from her. “You don't hang out with me the way we used to, you don't look at me the same. You have this scared look on your face. For once, can't you Addams up?”
Wednesday bites her tongue, refraining from spilling all the information and putting Enid at risk. The taste of metal spreads throughout her mouth.
Enid senses that Wednesday isn't going to reply and grabs her bag. “When you actually want to talk to me about the problem that has been occupying your life lately, then find me.” She swings the door closed, the noise echoing throughout the room, Wednesday winces from the sound.
Such a great way to start the morning…Wednesday glances at the clock.
2:49 PM
The hours had slipped without her noticing.
It is entirely odd that she would have slept throughout the whole morning, but due to her sleep schedule, she knows why. The unsettling feeling of being reenergized shakes Wednesday awake.
She must find Agnes and continue her investigation.
Wednesday already applied makeup when hiding from Enid, so she quickly picks an outfit from her wardrobe and makes her way towards the hallway for Agnes. It won't be hard since she is always a few steps behind, following Wednesday.
As Wednesday walks down the hall, she hears a slight swoosh behind her. Her ear twitches, and she halts her movements and does a sharp 180-degree turn facing Agnes.
”I brought you your coffee, even though it isn’t morning…I know it's still part of your routine.” Agnes moves the coffee cup closer to Wednesday. Wednesday pointingly stares at her and grabs the cup, walking in the same direction she was heading.
”I need to get something to eat. We will be discussing the important matter much more in depth to compensate for the amount we’ve lost.”
”You mean that you lost? I have been awake researching in the library since 9 am. A certain someone is making you lose more sleep every night, am I correct?” Agnes smirks, waiting for Wednesday to explain to her why she made a late appearance.
”Today, I have been preoccupying myself with more in-depth research in my room rather than seeking knowledge from the library.” Wednesday lies with a poker face.
As Wednesday entered the Pentagon, she never knew why people would call this area the square when it's in the shape of a pentagon. Nevertheless, she made her way towards the food truck.
”One lunch. Now.” Wednesday waits impatiently and observes her surroundings.
There she noticed Enid at her own table, Bianca to her left, Divina and Yoko across from her, and a vacant spot to her right.
”Are you going to sit with her?” Agnes looks down while playing with her ginger braids, hoping she won't have to sit alone for lunch.
”No. We can't discuss these matters in front of her.” Wednesday sees an isolated table in a corner, two tables away from Enid's. That will do for now.
Agnes's eyes widen with relief, she grabs Wednesday's food and quickly snatches a sandwich from the grab-and-go section.
Wednesday starts heading towards the table, but in order to get there, she must walk past Enid.
Enid was looking directly at her with a smile, her hand coming up to wave at her. How can she still smile at her even when Wednesday has been acting the way she has?
She continues having her emotionless face as she walks past her, Agnes right behind her with her food. She didn’t see the way Enid’s smile dropped and the way her jaw clenched.
Wednesday sits down, and a wave of coldness washes over her as the shadow of the corner consumes her.
Agnes silently looks between Wednesday and Enid, not pointing out the tension between them, and sits down.
”Ok, what did you find from your research? I overheard that there is a secret tunnel beneath the school that has forbidden books, we mig-“ Wednesday continues to talk.
From her own table, Enid could only hear the voice of Wednesday and Agnes’s conversation; she couldn’t make out the words they were saying.
Enid looks away and is met with Yoko’s raised eyebrows.
”I see the psychopath finally met another person to match her vibes…what happened between you and her? I thought you guys became closer after the crack stone incident.” Yoko continued to sip on her blood bag while Divina intervened.
”Yeah, you guys hugged in front of the whole school, also…didn’t you tell us that she is your mate? Why is she avoiding you?”
Enid looked down at her palms as if they held all the answers to her problems, waiting for a reply. She slowly felt her vision getting blurry from the tears forming in her eyes. Luckily, Bianca noticed and entered the conversation.
”Guys, I don’t think we should be bombarding Enid with all these questions…I’m sure she’s going through enough thinking. Do you need us to go somewhere more private?”
”No…I’m fine.” Enid let out a deep sigh. “It’s just I don’t know what happened, I can’t give you an answer because I don't know!” Enid slams her palms onto the table, her claws extending and rasping onto the concrete slab.
Yoko and Divina quickly take their hands back in instinct.
Enid’s eyes widen in regret and quickly retracts her claws. ”God, I’m sorry…” Enid felt the tears running down her cheek
” I just wish everything could go back to normal. I'm positive Wednesday is just uncomfortable to have a pathetic mate like me. I know she denies it, but I see that hesitant look she has in her eyes. It's like she’s afraid of something…”
” Of me,” Enid’s eyes widen with realization.
”Do you guys think it's the thing Ms. Capri told me…do you think Wednesday found out!?!?” Enid whispered urgently.
Yoko and Divina looked at each other.
“We didn’t tell anyone about you being an alpha,” They both whispered, looking around at their surroundings.
”Yeah, Enid, I didn’t tell anyone either,” Bianca said
”She must have heard it from someone, and that’s why she doesn’t treat me the same as before… I need to tell her that I wont hurt her, I mean I thought that would be her cup of tea but I guess its disturbing for her. My mom did tell me I wasn’t even supposed to present, she said I should have presented as an omega and made things easier for everyone.” Enid sighed and rests her head on her arms as she’s leaning on the table.
”Hey girl, don't listen to her. You were meant to be an Alpha because you’re a leader and you’re kind. I’m sure Wednesday is just hung up on a murder case or something.” Bianca said while cutting up her pescatarian dish.
”Yeah…a murder case that needs that little pint-sized ginger psycho around my mate for days on end…” Enid growls as she glares daggers towards Agnes, who is absolutely clueless.
“You should try talking to her.” Yoko dropped her empty blood bag onto her food tray.
”I have! Literally before I came here to eat with you guys, she’s just not giving me any information.”
”Try again later in the day, maybe she changed her mind and thought it’d be better to tell you, but just needs a little push.” Divina suggests
”Fine if that doesn’t work, then I don't know what I’m going to do,” Enid grumbles. Yoko starts to smirk, having a new idea.
”If things don't work out and you need time to…I don't know.” Yoko slightly waves her arms around, trying to grasp the correct wording, “ Let loose? Possibly drink some totally legal beverages…then come to the night shades hang out, I'm hosting a party later, and so many people will be there.” Yoko's fangs poked out while smiling. Divina rolled her eyes.
”I don't think that’s a good idea…I mean, I have a mate,” Enid said while chewing on her medium-rare steak. Yoko scoffs.
“Yeah, a mate who doesn’t even acknowledge your guys' relationship. You two aren’t even dating; she never established anything with you. How do you know she actually likes y-“ Yoko was interrupted by Divina, roughly hitting her shoulder.
”Stop it.” Divina hisses at her, hoping Yoko could catch the hint.
Yoko looked around the table and saw Enid staring at her with a hurt expression on her face. Yoko immediately felt bad.
” I'm sorry dude, I didn’t mean to come off like tha-“
”No, you’re right…she never accepted or denied me as her mate. We just act like friends. Even if she says we are fine, I won’t ever feel fine until she accepts me as hers. I doubt she ever will with how things are going now.’
”I thought she did accept you as her mate when you hugged her,” Divina said.
”No… she acknowledged the fact that she is my mate. For her to accept me, she has to verbally say it.” Yoko looked at her, confused as ever, and Enid rolled her eyes.
“It goes like this: ‘I, person’s name, accept you, person's name, as my mate’”
”Oh! That sounds extremely formal, I thought mates just sleep with each other, then get their mating bites.”
Enid felt her whole face burn up and her eyes nearly pop out of her skull.
”Yoko! Why would you even think that? Is that what you guys thought I was going to do with Wednesday?!?”
All three of them nodded. Enid brought her hands to her face to hide the furious blush on her face.
”No, guys, that’s like way deeper into the relationship.” Enid finally removed her hands.
”Oh my bad girl, didn’t know you would get all blushy,” Yoko winked.
The bell rang, signaling the end of lunch and the start of their last few classes.
”Well, guys, gotta skedaddle. Hey Enid, I'm serious about the party. If you do want to come, just let me know and I’ll pick you up. We will all be there, “ Yoko said while packing up her backpack.
”Thanks, Yoko, I'll think about it. If I do go, I’ll definitely send you a text.” Enid smiled and waved at the three of them as she left for her classes.
”See ya!” Divina waved with Bianca.
6 PM
Enid was at her dorm reading blog posts and started to realize that she had not seen Wednesday since lunch and feels her wolf slowly missing her.
Find mate.
Enid rolls her eyes. Wednesday obviously was off doing something, why go seek out and find her.
Speaking about the psycho, Wednesday opens the door to their dorm, covered in dust and webs. She heads towards her dark side of the room and sets down multiple different books that look extremely old.
”Hi, Wednesday!” Enid sits up, pushing her laptop off her lap. She plans to talk to Wednesday, it's now or never.
”Hello, Enid.” Thank god that the invisible wannabe wasn’t present in their ro-
Speaking about the devil… Agnes became visible right next to Wednesday with an equal amount of books in her hands, with the same condition Wednesday was in….that is her final straw.
Enid stands up, walks up to Wednesday, and stands right behind her.
”I know you hate me, Wednesday.” Enid clenched her jaw; the presence of Agnes next to her causes her to nearly crash out.
”Everybody knows you don't like being with me the same as before,” Enid continues to stare at the back of Wednesday's head, who refuses to turn around until Enid grabs her shoulder and turns her. Wednesday loses her balance for a moment and sways at the sudden movement.
”Speak up, Wednesday,” Enid begged, her eyes brimming with tears.
Wednesday exchanged a knowing look towards Agnes. Wednesday will never stop hearing about this from Agnes ever again.
”Agnes. Leave.” With those simple words, Agnes slightly nodded and turned invisible. The door of their room open and shut lightly, signaling that they were left alone.
Wednesday sighs and brings her hand to her eyebrows, massaging the crease.
”I don't hate you, Enid.”
”You keep giving me bland and vague replies whenever I ask you a question. This is your last and final chance to tell me why you’re acting so odd with me lately.” Enid stomped her foot, which almost reminds Wednesday of a little kid who is denied their favorite toy.
”You don't know what being an Addams will bring you… We are dark and isolated. I can’t give you what you want”
Enid scoffs, “You know you’re exactly what I want; I don't care for any of those things.” Enid clenches her jaw, trying to refrain her canines from appearing due to her emotional distress.
“God, even now with me in front of you like this, you continue to act this way. You’re so cruel to be lying to my face.”
Enid steps closer to Wednesday, about 2 feet away from her.
”I know you’re just afraid of your feelings for me.”
“Stop talking nonsense.”
“Then what is it!?” Enid steps closer; she can feel the breeze of Wednesday's breath as she exhales.
Wednesday instinctively steps back at the proximity.
Enid remembers what she talked to her friends about at lunch.
”Is this because I'm an alpha?” Enid whispers
Wednesday's eyes widen slightly.
”What?”
Never hurt our mate.
”You heard me…who told you? Did they say I’m an uncontrollable beast waiting to destroy everything in my path. You know I won't hurt you.”
Wednesday quickly takes note of that in her mind, leading to her wanting to urgently leave this situation to research more on Alpha werewolves.
”Enid, it's complicated. The less you know about the situation, the better. Now, if you don't mind, I must return back to my work.”
No. You must protect our mate.
”But I want to help you! I need to make sure you’re fine. What if something were to happen to you again, like at crack stone? I can protect you.”
“I do not need protecting; I am perfectly fine with dealing with myself.”
“Well it didn’t look like it when I had to come and save you from Tyler nearly ripping your neck out”
Wednesday scoffs and turns away. For once, she didn’t have a retort. Enid was starting to irritate her with these constant questions; she must make Enid drop this conversation, and she needs to do it now.
She can’t risk possibly telling Enid that she is going to die soon; she needs to find the solution first and fix it. Why waste more time when she should be reading more information on Enid’s wolf presentation.
She needs Enid to back away, even if it means temporarily hurting her feelings; she can explain later.
”I have grown and learned from that situation. I can handle myself just fine now, it's not like we have anything special for you to come in like a knight in shining armor.” Wednesday closed her eyes in regret.
Protect.
Enid paused and gritted her teeth. “It’s in my DNA to protect you… You’re my mate.”
“Well, I didn’t ask to be chosen.” Wednesday winced at herself after saying those words. She said it so low she thought Enid might have missed it, but she didn't.
Enid’s mouth gaped open, unable to process what Wednesday said.
“Are you rejecting me as your mate?”
Enid hears the wolf inside of her start whimpering.
Wednesday stayed silent, looking down at the ground, refusing to meet Enid’s sky blue eyes.
"Well?...don't leave me waiting."
There was still no response.
The air shifted around them.
Enid’s lips start to tremble as she realizes the severity of the situation.
”So you’re not going to say the words? I know you’re not stupid. You know exactly how to reject me, why didn’t you do it earlier and save me from this embarrassment and humiliation.” Enid turned away, completely facing away from her.
Only then, Wednesday turned to look at Enid, slightly raising her arm…as if she would actually reach for her. She quickly pulls her hand back.
Wednesday praises herself for loving pain and torture, but this unsettling feeling in her chest that seems to be tightening her heart was not pleasant at all.
“Enid I-“
“No. You’ve said enough. I'm leaving to go to Yoko's room...she’s throwing a party. Don’t wait up on me.”
Wednesday stood there silently as she saw Enid pack up some clothes and her makeup bag. She felt like pacing around, telling Enid everything that has happened, but she couldn’t risk it, so clenching and unclenching her fist would do for now.
Enid finishes packing her bag and reaches for her phone.
‘I’m going to your room to prepare for the party. I'll be over in 10 minutes.’ Enid quickly types.
Not even a second later, her phone lights up
’Hell yeah, girl, I can't wait, we are about to have a fun time!’ Enid sighs and goes to exit the room.
She didn’t know what she expected. Maybe Wednesday changing her mind, or begging her to stay, but neither came. Instead, as she reached the doorknob, she saw Wednesday turn towards her own phone. Before Enid could continue arguing, she forced herself to shut the door, quite roughly, and walk down the dorm towards Yoko’s room.
Wednesday quickly sent a message to Agnes.
‘Research everything about alpha wolves right now. I will continue to read the books we’ve got. I expect to discuss your findings in an hour.’
As Wednesday hits the send button, she immediately sits down at her desk and observes the books she found in a hidden library under the school.
’Werewolf Traits’… No
’Werewolf Appearance’ She already knows what Enid looks like as a wolf
’Werewolf Traditions’ She will keep that as a book for the future after she saves Enid…
’Werewolf Presentations’
Wednesday quickly opens the book and hurriedly looks through the table of contents.
Werewolf Presentations
Chapter 1 : Introduction       2
Chapter 2 : Omega              6
Chapter 3 : Beta                 24
Chapter 4 : Alpha               43
Chapter 5 : Discussion        65
Wednesday flips through all of the pages until she reaches page 43.
Alphas are the rarest and most powerful classification among werewolves, compromising less than 3% of all known werewolf populations. Unlike Betas or Omegas, whose lives may carry on independently of their destined mates, Alphas are biologically and spiritually bound to their mate in a way that is critical to their survival.
Biological Dependency on Mates
Once an Alpha has identified their mate, a bond begins to form immediately, one that grows stronger with time and proximity.
However, this bond also becomes a double-edged sword: if the mate does not reciprocate or formally accept the Alpha within a critical time window, the Alpha's body and mind will begin to deteriorate.
Documented symptoms include:
Emotional dysregulation
Involuntary partial transformation
Aggression toward perceived threats
If left unaccepted or rejected, the Alpha will eventually succumb to madness, entering a "Beast State" in which they lose all rational thought and are consumed by instinct.
Most Alphas in this state are either euthanized by their packs or die from the physical toll of their own degradation.
Rejection and Death
If an Alpha is rejected by their fated mate, the result is not merely emotional, it is fatal. Unlike other wolves who may grieve and eventually move on, Alphas do not survive mate rejection. Within weeks, sometimes days, of the rejection, their physical health collapses entirely.
Organ failure, seizures, and neurological shutdowns are common causes of death.
Positive Traits and Leadership
Despite their vulnerability in matters of the heart, Alphas possess a unique set of traits that distinguish them from other were--- Wednesday already knows all the positive traits of Enid.
Protection and Bond Benefits
For the mate of an Alp---- their mate.
Wednesday quickly skims over the rest of the information in the chapter, as it looks like she already got most of the information. Just as she finishes the book, the door opened and Agnes enters with her notebook of notes.
”I have a lot of important information that I’ve found,” Agnes sets her notes down on Wednesday's desk
”I do as well, look at this book,” Wednesday pushed it towards Agnes.
Both of them continued to discuss something so simple to resolve, but to Wednesday, it felt like another puzzle all over again. She refuses to believe that the way she is acting in order to protect Enid, is really the cause of Enid’s death.
Across the Nevermore school, Enid was there with a cup of vodka in her hand as the smell of alcohol and sweat lingered in the air while multiple different students danced to the music.
The hurt she felt after her argument with Wednesday lingered throughout Enid’s mind. She just wants to forget.
Yoko abruptly brought her arm over her shoulder.
”Enid! Finally got that cup of totally legal beverage I mentioned earlier, I see” Yoko looked at her with a smug face.
”Yeah… I'm sure a couple cups of alcohol won't do me that much damage, ya know.”
”Well, if you ever need more, there are plenty more combinations in the kitchen. I got Kent on the beverage section, and you know him and his nonexistent measurements! Everybody is getting wasted tonight!!!” Yoko laughed with her own alcoholic blood beverage in her hand.
Enid slightly smiles and looks around the room; it already seems to spin a bit from the alcohol, must be Kent’s doing.
Yoko looks at her and whispers.
”You should try to get with someone here, it's only for a night, I'm sure it will do no harm.” Enid stares down at her drink and swirls it in her hand before taking a large gulp of it.
”Yeah, I'm sure it won't hurt to get to know more people.”
”Hell yeah, that’s what I’m talking about! I’ll be around here somewhere if you need something, see ya!” Yoko disappears among the crowd of people.
Stop. You have a mate.
Enid ignores her wolf and looks around. Her eyes fall on this boy she used to talk to, Bruno.
Bruno meets her gaze and smiles at her as he raises his hand to wave. Enid forces a smile before walking up to him.
”Bruno! Long time no see, how are you?”
”Sup, I’m doing good now that you’re here with me” Bruno smirked and took a sip from his beer bottle.
”Haha, thank you, I'm pleased.” Enid is NOT pleased.
Get away from him.
”I know there’s another way I can please you, you want to get out of here?” Bruno started getting close to her, his mouth hovering Enid’s mouth.
Enid felt herself cringe but refrains herself from pushing him off.
”Let’s just see how this goes?” Enid hissed; only an oblivious guy like Bruno wouldn’t notice her obvious discomfort.
Bruno crashed his lips onto Enid’s, his tongue slobbering over her mouth, only leaving traces of saliva.
Get him off of you.
Wednesday’s lip appeared much softer than Bruno’s, even if she never experienced them on her own lips. Enid kissed back roughly, imagining the girl who had invaded her thoughts that fateful day when she saved her life.
Mate…
Enid’s hand came up to Wednesday's black curls; she caressed them, but they didn’t feel like Wednesdays…they felt rougher…drier…less taken care of.
Cologne invaded her nostrils…it was nothing compared to the lavender perfume Wednesday would usually wear.
Enid slightly opened her eyes. She was so deep into her thoughts that she expected to see Wednesday kissing her back. Instead, her eyes came face to face with Bruno’s greasy skin, his dry curls, and his stupid haircut.
Enid disconnected from the kiss and turned her face to the side to avoid his lips. Bruno took this as a sign and started kissing her neck.
Stop him…go to mate.
Enid gritted her teeth together; the sensation of Bruno’s dry lips getting too close to her scent gland was the last straw.
”Stop, Bruno.” Her words seemed to go through one ear and exit the other as he started to nip.
”I said stop!” Enid pushed him roughly, causing him to step back multiple feet.
”What’s wrong? I thought you liked it,” Bruno said, wiping off the saliva on his chin and took a step closer. Enid quickly stepped back.
”I just cant do this…” Enid said as she continued to take another step back, but bumped into another student's back.
”Hey, watch it…” The student said and went back to talking to their friend.
”Does this have to do with your friend Wednesday? Gosh, can’t you just relax and have a bit of fun?” Bruno started to invade her personal space again, his lips ghosting over her neck again.
Before Bruno could react, she elbowed his head, causing him to knock out on the couch behind him.
Good job.
Enid looked at Bruno, slumped on the couch, and sighed. The smell of saliva lingered on her skin.
She quickly makes her way to the bathroom, but not before grabbing one of Kent’s famous unmeasured alcoholic drinks and downing it in one go.
She slams the bathroom door open, wraps the paper towel over her hand, and brings it down to the sink to wet it a bit. Enid brings the paper to her neck and face, removing any remnant of Bruno’s DNA.
If only it were Wednesday who was kissing her…the amount of alcohol seemed to be getting to her head as she couldn't see herself clearly in front of the mirror.
Enid throws the paper in the garbage and makes her way towards the main room where everybody was.
She held onto any surface she could so she didn’t fall over and make a fool out of herself…she was already a fool in Wednesday’s eyes.
Somehow, Enid made it to the kitchen, where Kent was making his drinks. He seemed extremely high as his normally bright blue eyes were now droopy and bloodshot.
”Enid!!! I see you’ve come across some of my famous drinks,” He smiled as he noticed Enid was tipsy.
”What can I get you? Margarita? Martini? Sex on the beach? Oh! Shirley Temples have been going CRAZY tonight haha!”
”Hi Kent, I think I'll do a vodka cranberry.” Enid partially smiled
”Great choice! One vodka cranberry coming right up,” Kent said as he grabbed all the ingredients needed
Enid looked at the sea of people, expecting a certain goth to emerge, but she never came. Her eyes went back towards her drink getting made, and sees that Yoko was not joking.
Kent was there, filling almost half her cup with vodka and a splash of cranberry juice, enough for the taste to linger on her tongue.
”Here ya go! If you ever need more, come back and I’ll remake it for you” Kent gleamed as he handed Enid’s drink to her. Enid stood there dumbfounded but nevertheless accepted the drink.
”I definitely will come back if I survive this drink, thanks Kent” Enid nervously laughs, Kent winked at her then she made her exit.
The crowds of people soon became a blur of colors as she continued to drink. Enid sits down on one of the random couches in the room and stares at the ceiling. Everything became a blur.
She must have gone back to get too many drinks from Kent to the point where he cut her off for the night. She only remembered going back there 1 or 2 times…
Keyword: Remembered
The more she drank, the more her wolf became more vocal.
Go back to her.
What are you still doing here?
She needs you.
‘She doesn't need me’ Enid thought.
Wednesday is independent…strong…brave…smart…pretty…she is oh so pretty.
Yes…very beautiful.
Enid grunts as the world didn’t stop spinning, the only feeling that consumed her is her need for Wednesday. Enid finally was able to lift her head and observed her surroundings once again.
2 AM
There were still a lot of people around, most of them were hugging, kissing, or basically having clothed sex with each other… Enid wants Wednesday with her. She feels her eyes starting to tear up.
Go to her.
Enid finally decided to listen to her wolf, she made an effort to find her phone. The search for her phone caused her frustration to increase; her claws came out. She started to claw away at the couch, only trying to find her phone.
After the second destroyed couch, she finally found it stuck in between some pillows. Enid observed the damage she caused and felt extreme guilt.
Call her.
She immediately starts to silently cry, the tears felt nice cradling her cheek. If only it was Wednesday…
Wednesday.
Wednesday..
Wednesday…
Mate…
She wants her mate.
Enid retracts her claws and fumbles with her phone. It only increased her anger when the bright screen from her phone blinded her due to the dimly lit room.
A low and threatening growl left her throat. Multiple other werewolves in the room snapped their head towards her, afraid she would start a fight after her couch destruction, but she paid no mind to them.
With whatever sober mind she had left, she tried her best to ask Siri to call Wednesday.
”Heeeey Siri…call Wednsh—hiccup—-Wednesday…pleashe… I m-miss her..hiccup”
“Okay, calling ‘Wednesday 🖤☕️🔪’ Now”
Enid slumped over on the couch as she felt the phone in her hand ringing.
Back in Wednesday’s room, she was sitting on her extremely hard chair…patiently waiting for Enid’s return…
She glances at the clock for the 56th time.
2:38 AM
Wednesday sighs. Agnes left long ago. After what felt like hours of trying to find out how to resolve the issue, Agnes made it seem so simple and explained it to her. At the end of the day, Wednesday was the one slowly killing Enid with her constant distancing and avoiding her feelings.
Not only did this end up causing Wednesday immense guilt, but it also caused Enid to feel humiliated in herself.
Wednesday clenched her jaw, remembering the way Enid looked at her when she questioned if she was rejecting her as her mate. That has never been in question. Not even if a bright rainbow came crashing down on her and drowned her with all its colors, she would never do such a thing.
All the books said the same thing…an alpha cannot survive a rejection, and that it does irreversible damage. Wednesday never felt more stupid…if she knew about this sooner she would have accepted Enid as her mate long before their arguments happened.
She was cut off from her thoughts by the annoying metal box that Enid referred to as an “iPhone” blaring its alarm in their room.
Only two people have her contact information. Agnes and…Enid.
Wednesday bolts up and heads to her phone.
’Enid is calling’
Wednesday quickly picks up her phone from her nightstand, she swipes and quickly brings it to her ear.
”Enid?”
What came through wasn’t words at first, but broken sobs. Then a shaking whisper…
”I can’t ignore it any-anymore, Wedns…I cant. It’s—“ Enid’s breath hitched, a hiccup strangling her words.
”I feel it all the time, and I thought I could push it down, but I can't. I need you…here with me. Please.” Enid slurred her sentence.
Wednesday starts to pace around the room, heart hammering like a war drum in her ribs.
”Where are you?”
”Ni-Nightshade hangout party…” Enid hiccuped again. “I wanted to forget, but it's worse.”
”Everything is worse without you.” Another sob cracked her voice into two.
” I'll be there.”
Wednesday didn’t remember ending the call. She was already pulling on her coat, boots thudding against the floor, cutting through the cold night toward the music and laughter spilling from the party.
Inside the party was a blur of neon lights and sticky air, but Wednesday only needed to find Enid.
And there she was… Enid sat curled up on the couch, a half-empty cup discarded at her feet, tear marks streaked down her cheeks.
When Enid’s eyes lifted and found Wednesday, something in Enid broke. She staggered to her feet, swaying, tears shining.
”You came.”
Without a word, Wednesday was at her side, slipping an arm around her waist. Enid started to blush and leaned in, her whole body trembling. The wolf quieted instantly, calming under Wednesday’s control. Enid’s head lolled slightly against Wednesday’s shoulder, soft breaths hitching each step.
“Let’s get you back home,” Wednesday said as she walked through the sea of drunk students, with Enid in her arms.
They walked in silence back to Ophelia Hall, the muffled thrum of the party fading behind them.
“Almost there” Wednesday murmured, voice low and commanding, guiding them through the dorm hall. Enid, swaying slightly in her intoxicated state, whispered.
“Wedns…you..you don't know how much I m-missed you…” Her words were slurred, hands reaching out to wrap around Wednesday’s neck, her breath making contact with Wednesday’s skin.
Wednesday stiffened, steadying herself as she opens the door.
“Enid. Enough.” She said firmly, sliding her hands to Enid’s waist and keeping her at arm’s length so she doesn't trip over the door frame sill.
“You are drunk.” Enid pouted, eyes half-lidded, leading forward despite Wednesday’s resistance.
“I…I just want you…Please” Her voice was thick with longing and desire, fingers grazing Wednesday’s chest.
Wednesday’s jaw tightened. She gently but decisively pushes Enid back just enough to keep them from collapsing together.
“If you continue, I cannot be responsible for what happens. Stay upright”
Enid’s lips quivered in frustration, and she laughed bitterly, water and broken.
“A- hiccup- Always stopping me…you don’t trust me, do you?”
“I trust you, but not your current state,” Wednesday said, tone sharp with a ting of worry.
“Go sit. Rest. Sober first” Wednesday releases her grip from Enid’s waist as they reach her bed.
Enid’s face fell, hurt flashing across her features. She took a staggered step back, voice shaking.
“Do you…Do you even want me?” The question slipped out, fragile and bare.
“Because if you don't…if you're just keeping me around out of pity or because you don't know how to say it…” Enid takes a pause, “I-I can't…I can't survive like this.”
For the first time, Wednesday’s mask cracks. Her eyes glistened in the dim light, her voice unsteady.
“You don't think I know that?” Wednesday takes a deep breath as she grits her teeth.
“This restraint… I'm doing this all for you. You think I do not want you?”
“Then say it!” Enid’s voice cracks like lightning.
“Say you want me, or tell me to my face that you don’t. Stop leaving me in silence. It’s killing me, Wedns.” The silence stretched, thick as iron chains. Wednesday’s chest rose and fell as though each breath hurt.
“Fine…if you won’t…if you won’t end things with me…” Enid’s words cracked under the weight of her emotions.
“Then I…Then I will.” Wednesday froze, her chest tightening.
“I…Enid Sinclair…reject y-” Enid’s words were cut off by Wednesday’s.
“Don’t make me do this to you,” she whispered, almost pleading.
Enid blinked, confusion in her eyes. “What? I—I can’t hear you.”
“Don’t make me do this,” Wednesday repeated, firmer, the shadow of fear creeping into her tone,
“But I will.”
“Do WHAT, Wednesday?” Enid demanded, voice shaking, anger and desperation bubbling beneath the surface.
Wednesday’s lips pressed into a hard line for a moment, then she lunged forward, closing the gap, capturing Enid’s mouth in a fierce, searing kiss.
It was desperate and raw, a mix of relief and fear, of denial finally breaking.
Enid melted into it immediately, arms wrapping around Wednesday, willing to continue, to give herself over completely.
Wednesday pulled back slightly, enough to catch her breath, eyes dark and serious.
“We will talk more in the morning,” she said firmly, voice low.
“Tonight… this ends here.” Enid blinked, confusion and longing battling in her expression.
“But… I want-”
“In the morning,” Wednesday interrupted, pressing a gentle finger to Enid’s lips.
“I swear.” Enid immediately closes her mouth.
Wednesday grabs Enid’s hand and carefully brings her back to her bed. She untucks the blankets and sits Enid down.
“You must rest, I promise…I will not forget about this.” Wednesday pushes back hair strands from Enid’s face and kisses her softly on the forehead.
Enid furiously blushes and leans into the kiss, sleep slowly consuming her. She only senses Wednesday tucking her in, a dip next to her mattress, and a warmth that consumes her chest.
The hours seemed to slip by effortlessly.
Nobody would believe Enid if she were to say that she woke up with Wednesday Addams cuddled up on her side, morning light spilling across the dorm room. Even if she were to mention it, she would probably die at the hands of Wednesday.
Enid quietly and swiftly untangles herself from Wednesday and tiptoes her way to the bathroom.
She must be dreaming…the raging headache isn't helping either.
She can barely remember last night… except the part where Wednesday kissed her…
She wets her face with water and dries herself. She takes another peek out of the bathroom and sees Wednesday in the same exact spot she left her.
Enid quickly pulls back…she must still be dreaming. Maybe breakfast will help her wake up…
She brushes her teeth and changes her clothes as fast as possible before exiting the dorm.
Just when she was halfway to the cafeteria, she realized she forgot her phone.
‘God damn it, you're so stupid,’ Enid tells herself as she makes her way back towards her dorm.
There she was…Wednesday sat menacingly as if she were from a horror film…on Enid’s bed.
Enid was more surprised by the fact that Wednesday changed her clothes and redid her braids in the 15 minutes she exited the dorm.
“Where were you going?” Wednesday's sharp voice cut her off from her thoughts.
“Oh! Me? I was just going to umm…go get breakfast for.. us?” Enid tries to make up a random excuse…how the tables have turned. Now it's Enid running away from her feelings.
Wednesday hums.
“Do you remember last night?” Wednesday sat up, she walked towards Enid as if she were stalking her prey…waiting for an answer.
Enid sighs.
“Yes… I'm sorry if I crossed the line with you. I know all my complaining probably left you with no other choices but to…kiss me.” Enid pouts.
Wednesday sighs. “Enid, it was my own choice. I wanted to.”
Enid looks up, eyes glistening with hope.
“I feared,” Wednesday admitted, voice breaking in its honesty, “I feared that binding myself to you…fully, irreversibly… would destroy you. That I would drag you into shadows you cannot escape.”
Enid stepped forward, tears ready to spill free. “I don't care about the shadows. I don't care about danger. I care about you. If you keep pushing me away, that will destroy me faster than anything else ever could.”
Regret and guilt immediately washes over Wednesday. She leans forward, her forehead pressing against Enid’s, her voice almost a whisper.
“You are my mate. My equal. My undoing” And then finally…Wednesday kisses a now sober Enid. Not with hesitation, not with calculation, but with everything she had denied herself for weeks. Fierce, trembling, desperate.
Enid melts into her, sobbing into the kiss, clutching at Wednesday’s shirt as though anchoring herself to life itself. The wolf inside her howled in triumph, the ache in her chest loosening for the first time.
When they pulled back, breathless, Wednesday’s dark eyes locked onto hers.
“I, Wednesday Addams, accept you, Enid Sinclair, as my mate.” Enid’s smile wobbled through her tears, radiant and broken all at once.
“Took you long enough, Wedns.” Wednesday almost smirked, almost.
“Do not expect me to repeat myself.”
But her hand remained on Enid’s cheek, steady and warm, and this time she didn’t pull away.
